Fitness simulators

August 22, 2017 Useful about simulators

About what is included in the concept of “fitness simulators”, what they are and for what purposes each of them is used. Exercise equipment in a fitness club is the main expense item and a central place in opening your own gym. The flow of sports fans in your establishment depends on how good your simulators are.

What makes fitness equipment different from others?

Most companies have their own line of professional fitness equipment designed specifically for gyms. Such simulators differ from home and semi-professional ones in that they are designed for round-the-clock work and can pass through themselves up to several hundred visitors a day. These trainers will withstand a lot thanks to wear-resistant materials and high strength, which are not inherent in other series. How can a manufacturer guarantee high quality? Check all the certificates that he has, without many permits and approvals, including from the State Standard and the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision, no one will release simulators on the market.

Surely, such simulators will not be cheap, but replacing them with semi-professional equipment, or even worse, with home equipment, is not safe. And after some time in the gym, home exercise equipment will look very pathetic.

What are fitness equipment

In fitness clubs, two types of simulators are usually used at once: cardio and strength simulators. Let’s consider each group in more detail.

Cardio equipment

Impact:

1) Help to lose weight

2) Train the cardiovascular and respiratory system

3) Build Endurance

4) Strengthen the muscles of the legs and buttocks

These machines are very popular among women as they are the best way to lose weight. Cardio machines are generally rarely bypassed, as they serve as a warm-up before the main program.

  • Exercise bike – all the action is aimed at developing the muscles of the legs and buttocks.

  • Treadmill – better than others helps in losing weight, improving metabolism.

  • The elliptical trainer is the safest, advised to people with diseases of the cardiovascular system. The exercise involves more muscle groups (+ upper body).

  • The stepper is the simplest and most compact simulator. The main action on the legs and buttocks.

  • The rowing machine is located at the junction of cardio and weight machines. Works virtually all major muscles.

Strength training equipment

Contribute to the build-up of muscle mass, have a directed effect on any particular muscle group. The rest of the muscles either do not work at all, or work, but only secondarily. Because of this, strength trainers are loved by men (they pump up muscles and work out the relief on them) and women who bring their problem areas into shape.

Power simulators, in turn, are divided into 3 groups:

1) Weight-block simulators – are simulators with built-in flat weights, due to the raising of which muscle contraction occurs. Weights are held by clamps, so they are as safe as possible. They also have a point effect on only one muscle group. Because of this, they are often recommended to beginners.

Among such simulators are: upper traction, leg extension, mixing-breeding legs, butterfly and others.

2) Exercise machines with free weights – in these simulators, the athlete himself loads himself with free weights (dumbbells, barbells, etc.), not only the target muscle swings here, but also those muscle groups that help to perform the exercise. Free weight machines are the best way to build muscle mass, which is why professional athletes love them. In addition, they develop coordination and endurance.

Free weight machines: Hack machine, delta machine, Smith machine with counterweight, linkage and others.

3) Bodyweight machines are one of the simplest machines. Your own body acts as a burden. They develop not only strength, but also flexibility and endurance. One of the most popular trainers.

Among them: press bars, hyperextension, Roman chair, Swedish wall

Russian manufacturer of fitness -simulators, switched from wood to plastic as an experiment and launched a program of acceptance and recycling of its own plastic products.0003

92
views

The Nizhny Novgorod plant “Drevmass” went on an experiment: to abandon wooden materials and switch to environmentally friendly plastic. Once used, customers can hand over the plastic exercise equipment to the retailer for recycling in exchange for discounts. Pre-orders for recyclable fitness equipment have been opened on the Boomstarter. ru crowdfunding platform.

“Drevmass” began to produce exercise equipment made of ABS plastic, fully recyclable. This is a modern polymer with a high degree of strength, elasticity and safety for humans. For example, it is used in the production of a well-known children’s designer.

Equipment manufacturer testifies that plastic parts adhere better to the body than wooden ones, and warming up with them is more effective. Plastic is also more practical: it is not afraid of moisture, lasts longer and is available in different colors. In addition, plastic production conserves natural resources and saves wood.

The plastic trainer allows the use of the now widely popular Myofascial Release Technique (MFR). This is a way of relaxation and self-massage of soft tissues. Fascia are parts of muscles and tendons. A sedentary lifestyle accumulates excess tension in the body, due to which the fasciae are no longer fed, become stiff, and muscle pain appears.

The result of sales of pre-orders on Boomstarter. ru is more than 200% of the target. The plastic simulator is aimed at a young, active audience that cares about health.

Nizhny Novgorod “Drevmass” is one of the largest Russian manufacturers of health products designed for urban residents who do not have time to be distracted by visiting professional massage therapists or doing gymnastics. The main products are roller trainers that help to quickly stretch the muscles of the back and improve blood circulation.

As the name implies, “Drevmass” was originally completely focused on the production of wood, but decided to experiment and decided to test the demand for a new product.

The author of the idea to transfer production from wood to plastic is Nizhny Novgorod businessman Artem Kutyanin, the founder of the production. An athlete and a fan of a healthy lifestyle, Artem became a candidate for master of sports in hand-to-hand combat, has a first dan in jiu-jitsu. I ran an ultramarathon – 175 km in four days – and twice climbed to the top of Elbrus.

Very happy with this phone (iPhone 12 mini). Had to buy and return multiple phones from other refurbishers on Back Market before finding this gem. The phones I returned were either “good” or “excellent” quality, but they came with screen scratches, or the phone was half the storage amount it was supposed to be, or there were non-Apple parts (screen, battery) that aren’t recommended. To avoid getting non-Apple parts, I went with a “fair” level, thinking they wouldn’t have put a new screen and battery into a “fair” phone. The gamble paid off – the phone is absolutely pristine and it still has its Apple screen and battery. Very pleased with this refurbisher!

Very satisfied with my purchase! I chose an iPhone 12 mini in good condition after debating whether or not to go with excellent instead. I usually order refurbished phones directly from the Apple site but was on a tighter budget this time. The phone arrived several days earlier than expected. Besides some very minor dings around the front edges, the phone seems to be in near perfect condition. Setup went smoothly and I’ve had no issues with the phone at all. I’ll definitely order from Back Market again!

Look I’m skeptical of buying used electronics, refurbished, whatever you want to call it electronics online. I love Apple products because of their reliability as a product. I have been needing to watch my money much more closely recently and I looked at Facebook marketplace full of scams after scams. I forget how I came across back market but after thorough research i felt comfortable enough to take a risk and purchase a unlocked iPhone 8. I ordered the one in good condition on a Thursday, my iPhone came in the mail by Saturday that weekend. phone looked clean not much wear and tear at all. first thing I checked when I turned the phone on was the battery health. to my surprise the battery health was at 100% that was awesome being that an iPhone 8 is a older iPhone. I am already planning to buy again from Back Market. Yall rock.

My refurbished iPhone 11 came in excellent condition and it works just like a brand new iPhone. The shipping time was quick. The only downside was that the charging cord that came with it doesn’t charge my new phone properly and if the cord was bumped it would stop charging. I did have my other Apple charging cord with me and it charges my iPhone 11 just fine.

Purchased a “good” phone and received a brand new one, just out of its original Apple. It comes with a charger. I couldn’t believe how spotless this phone was. I took the risk of getting a refurbished IPhone 14 Pro Max because I was too short on money to get a brand new one from Apple. com and I’m super glad I did. Honestly, I was thinking how bad can a phone that came out less than a year ago get. And I was right. To top it off, I checked the battery health and it showed 100%, so it has been barely or never used. The perfect new Iphone on a great deal.

iPhone 14 is cheaper than iPhone 13. So unnecessary

    iPhone 14

The iPhone 14 is cheaper than the iPhone 13. You don’t need it so much

    Alexander Kuznetsov

According to MyDrivers, the recently released iPhone 14 with 256GB of storage sells for $870 in China, while last year’s iPhone 13 model with the same storage costs $876. There was a unique situation – the new Apple was cheaper than the old device.

The iPhone 14 is in extremely low demand, so stores have to cut prices. The reason lies in the fact that this smartphone is almost no different from the iPhone 13 in terms of its filling. At the same time, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models are much more in demand, and they have not fallen in price since the start of sales.

iPhone 14 is not interesting for Russian buyers either. According to sellers from Gorbushka, buyers are mainly interested in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models, while the base model has to be put up on online flea markets and shipped to the regions.

An even weirder situation with the iPhone 14 Plus. It has almost the same hardware as the iPhone 14, but a larger screen, and last year there was no similar model. At the same time, it fell in price in China immediately after the release: retailers saw weak interest and reduced the price by 400 yuan (about $60).

And the new iPhone and more you can buy from our friends at Big Geek.

How much is a ps4 pro: Sony Playstation 4 Pro 1TB

PlayStation 4 Pro review: 4K gaming is here

The PlayStation 4 Pro marks a turning point for the modern console era. In fact, it redefines what a “console” even means. Consoles are supposed to offer “good enough” graphics at an attractive price point, and a consistent hardware target to allow developers to optimize the crap out of their games. Meanwhile, PC gamers can spend twice as much (or more) and get marginally better graphics and all the headaches and complexities of playing games on a grab bag of hardware. But the PS4 Pro is a mid-generation spec upgrade to an already successful console. It adds power and complexity to the console equation, at a reasonable price: $399, $100 more than the slimmer version of the original (and less powerful) PS4. The extra expense also gets you a nice big 1TB hard drive, an extra USB plug, and optical audio out.

You can debate the fittingness of a “Pro” moniker on a piece of hardware designed to play video games better, but Sony really has made this new console a notable improvement over its standard model.

It adds power and complexity to the console equation, at a reasonable price

The upshot of all that power? Well, if you have a 4K TV, and if the game you want to play has been updated to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s power, it means better graphics. In some cases, much better graphics. I can confidently say, after playing a handful of optimized titles, that 4K gaming is real, it’s wonderful, and it makes the PS4 Pro just about the best $399 you can spend on gaming hardware this year.

The PS4 Pro is big. In fact, it’s bigger than the original PS4, although not quite as bulky as the original Xbox One. It even has a larger PC-style plug in the back, although there’s thankfully no power brick. It also has one extra USB plug, but you still can’t install games to an external hard drive like you can with the Xbox One.

Inside the PS4 Pro is a “double-sized” version of the original PS4’s GPU, which runs at a faster clock speed. The CPU and RAM are also running faster, and there’s an extra 1GB of RAM available for applications to keep the 8GB of GDDR5 RAM mostly free for games. These improvements add up to 4.2 teraflops, making the PS4 Pro 2.28 times faster than the PS4 on paper. All these faster components generate a lot of heat, which blasts out of the back of the system, but at least the fans don’t seem much louder than a typical PS4 or Xbox One.

The PS4 Pro is 2.28 times faster than the PS4 on paper

When you boot up the PS4 Pro you’ll land in the PS4 System Software 4.0, which is already available on regular PS4s, and is a major redesign of the PlayStation interface if you haven’t used a PlayStation recently. But most notable for this review, the user-interface is all in 4K, which is refreshing after playing with so many “4K” televisions that don’t even bother to ship with a 4K UI. Some of the icons and graphics are still the 1080p versions, which is obvious when you’re sitting a few feet away from a big 4K TV, but all the text and “chrome” of the UI is perfectly sharp.

The system has 802.11ac Wi-Fi — a nice step up from the original PS4’s 2. 4GHz, 802.11n Wi-Fi — which is helpful if you want to download a full 50GB game instead of buying and installing a disc like a luddite. It also includes the newly redesigned controller that’s already shipping with the slim PS4, which lights up the touchpad slightly, and has a few matte accents.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

4K is four times as many pixels as 1080p, the resolution of the typical HDTV the original PS4 was designed for. The PS4 Pro is twice as fast as a PS4, not four times as fast, which leaves an obvious question: where do all those extra pixels come from? Well, tricks, mostly. One primary way developers can turn their regular 1080p games into 4K is called “checkerboard rendering.” For instance, that’s how Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare works. And can I just say something? It looks great. It looks really, really great.

See, 4K TVs are nearing on ubiquity, but we still have very few “true” 4K sources of content. Netflix streaming is possibly the worst possible way to take advantage of a 4K TV, because the video is so compressed you’re basically just getting a front row seat to compression artifacts and tortured film grain. A locally rendered game in 4K, however, even with checkerboard rendering, looks perfectly crisp. Every pixel seems in its place and accounted for, and I just think it looks wonderful.

The 4K output resolution makes the overall scene so damned crisp

Even a slightly older game, like Shadow of Mordor, looks great. You can see every chunk of simple geometry, and the low-resolution textures are obvious, but the 4K output resolution makes the overall scene so damned crisp that it looks nearly as good as its modern competition.

One caveat I should mention: I did most of my testing of the PS4 a few feet away from an enormous 4K TV. If you’re at a recommended viewing distance and slouched into a couch, the 4K effect might not be as noticeable. Maybe the Xbox One S’s 4K upscaling is “good enough” for those situations, but I’m partial to how sharp these games look on the Pro.

Not every game will be rendered in 4K, of course. And very few games will manage a “native” 4K resolution, like you can get on a modern PC. First off, developers will have to optimize their games specifically for the Pro to see any improvement at all. At lot of games have been promised, but so far there are very few titles with live patches. Developers who do optimize their game can add a “PS4 Pro Enhanced” sticker to the game box, but it’ll still require some homework to know exactly what has been enhanced. Games can render in 4K, or simply upscale to 4K, or ship with improved graphics at 1080p, or increase the frame rate, or some combination or choice of all of the above.

The Last of Us Remastered

In fact, this is my biggest annoyance about the new PS4: it’s all so mysterious about which games will get which features. When you buy a powerful gaming PC you can tweak the settings of any game to your satisfaction. But in the “simplified” land of consoles you’re basically left hoping and praying developers make the right tweaks to the right games. I like the upgraded graphics on the games I’ve seen so far, but it really is a crapshoot.

It’s all so mysterious about which games will get which features

And then there’s HDR, a feature Sony is pushing on both the Pro and on the normal PlayStation 4. I’ll be honest with you: I have a hard time spotting when HDR is on or not. The only reason I knew The Last of Us Remastered was in HDR was because the first time I booted the game, my PS4 told me HDR wasn’t active on my TV. So I turned on HDR on my TV and then I guess the brights were brighter and the darks were darker. I mean, it did look great. I just wasn’t nearly as impressed with the color gamut as I was with the 4K resolution. Maybe you’ll feel differently.

I’m sorry to report that both the 4K version of Netflix and the 4K version of YouTube weren’t available at the time of this review. They should both ship when the console is available for sale on November 10th. Still, most 4K TVs offer a way to watch Netflix and / or YouTube in 4K, so this isn’t a huge draw for me. Also, it feels like a continuation of Sony’s gambit from the start with the PS4: this machine is built for games. Want 4K Blu-rays? Buy an Xbox One S, or a dedicated Blu-ray player. Want 4K video games? The PS4 Pro is the only console that can do it this year.

I’m also sorry to report that few PlayStation VR titles have been optimized for the Pro so far, and what I did see didn’t impress me much. PlayStation VR Worlds is a first-party title and I was expecting some much-needed optimizations, but other than what felt like a smoother frame rate I didn’t notice much improvement at all. The controller tracking is just as shaky, and the graphics still have that “chunky” look, like you’re zoomed in too far on a highly compressed JPEG. It’s possible that most of the bottleneck for PlayStation VR is in the headset and camera, or maybe the developers haven’t figured out the right “tricks” to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s added hardware yet. I’m optimistic things can get better, but not as optimistic as I was before I tried VR with the Pro.

To me, the PS4 Pro really feels like a “new” console. With all the promise and pitfalls that entails. It’s a big pile of performance, with a flimsy catalog of truly optimized games and a whole lot of room to grow. As we’ve seen with recent console generations, if you give developers enough time with a certain set of hardware, they can make graphical miracles. Just look at Grand Theft Auto V on the Xbox 360, or Battlefield 1 on the PS4. They look absolutely incredible compared to games that came out at the beginning of those console life cycles. Hopefully we’ll see the same growth with the PS4 Pro. I’m already impressed by the 4K games I’ve seen, but it can only get better from here.

There is one way the Pro isn’t at all like a new console: it won’t get exclusive new games that force you to upgrade or be left behind. If you already have a PS4, or are considering the slim PS4, Sony promises you’ll get to play every new game that comes out. Just at a slightly lower fidelity in some cases.

Has Sony simply reinvented PC gaming and called it a PlayStation?

Also, the PS4 Pro will have to sell enough units to justify the development cost of creating a custom update of each new PS4 game. First party titles are a lock, but third-party support is still up in the air. This will only get more complicated when the Xbox “Project Scorpio” comes out a year from now and bumps the console power ceiling even higher. Perhaps the saving grace will be the fact that modern consoles are very much like PCs, and therefore they can benefit from the flexibility already built in to PC games and modern PC game engines.

But if that’s the case, then has Sony simply reinvented PC gaming and called it a PlayStation? I’d say the $399 price tag, and the excellent 4K results I’ve seen so far, show the PS4 Pro maintains the typical console benefits.

If you don’t have a 4K TV, or don’t obsess over graphics, you’re probably safe to skip over the PS4 Pro. The PS4 (including the new slim model) or Xbox One are certainly “good enough.” And, if you do obsess over graphics, $399 is enough money to get a really good graphics card and turn your PC gaming rig into a true 4K machine. But if you want the best gaming graphics currently possible on a home console, the PS4 Pro is your best choice this year.

Comparison of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Is the transition worth it?

Although
on PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles, one and
the same library of games, under the body
consoles hides different stuffing.
So what is the difference between
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro? In short, in
performance and graphics
opportunities. Most recent console
from the Japanese giant will squeeze the maximum
from a 4K TV. In our
article, we will analyze in detail whether it is worth
move from one device to another.

comparison
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Design and appearance
view

First of all, it catches the eye
difference in appearance between the two consoles.
Compared with original, Pro version
has an extra layer
case. If the regular PS4 presents
two layers of plastic with space
between them, which houses the ports
USB and floppy drive port, the PS4 Pro consists of
three levels.

However, the dimensions of the console do not
increased greatly. The original possessed
the following parameters – 27.5 x 30.5 x 5.3 cm.
PS4 Pro, in turn, is measured like this:
29.5 x 32.7 x 5.5 cm. That is, it is wider and longer
by a few centimeters, but the height at
volume remains the same.

Also a new console almost half a kilo
heavier than its predecessor.

comparison
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Ports and Optical
drive

  • PS4 Pro has
    additional USB output.

  • PS4 Pro
has an optical output for audio.

  • If
    the original output image through
    HDMI 1.4, PS4 Pro uses HDMI 2.0a

Regarding the outputs for the image,
sound and USB also have differences. PS4 Pro has
additional connector for USB 3.0, which
will come in handy for owners of the PlayStation
VR (helmet requires connection via
separate USB input). Also with his help
you can recharge the Move controllers,
which are used in the game
virtual reality.

Also,
unlike the PS4 Slim version, the Pro revision
has an optical audio output with reverse
side of the console. And finally the last
difference in ports – HDMI. If the original
supported the HDMI 1.4 standard, the PS4 Pro
outputs image via standard
HDMI 2.0a (this allows you to display the image
in 4K resolution).

What
regarding the optical drive for
Blu-ray discs, then we have sad news.
Neither the original PS4 nor the latest
console cannot play movies
Ultra HD format. This is a strange decision
side of the company, because even its competitor
– Microsoft – included in its Xbox One S console
support for this type of player
disks.

comparison
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Technical
specifications

  • PS4 Pro
    is more productive
graphics card (4.2 teraflops versus 1.84
    teraflops).

  • PS4 Pro
    supports Bluetooth 4. 0 and has a built-in
    antenna for Wi-Fi 802.11ac
    .

  • PS4 Pro has
under the case an additional gigabyte
    DDR3 memory.

Exactly
iron is the biggest difference
between consoles. Both attachments work
on an eight-core AMD Jaguar processor,
however, in the Pro version, its frequency was
overclocked from 1.6 GHz to 2.1 GHz.

Graphic
The processor has also gained in performance.
Its power was doubled, and the frequency
overclocked from 800 MHz to 911 MHz. Generally,
video card performance was
increased from 1.84 teraflops at the starting
PS4 up to 4.2 teraflops for PS4 Pro. This is a raise
power was needed to output
4K resolutions.

What
regarding Bluetooth and antenna upgrades
Wi-Fi, then similar improvements were available
still in the Slim version. Additional memory
in the Pro set-top box will be used for
non-gaming applications to free
memory allocated only for games. This
also designed to increase productivity.

comparison
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Support 4K

  • PS4 Pro
allows you to display the resolution in true
    4K

  • Original
    PS4 only supports HDR mode

  • Developers
    decide how to use
    additional power

  • Some
games even at 1080p have the best
    performance on Pro

B
resolution is also a big difference.
One of the main reasons to switch from
normal PS4 to PS4 Pro – 4K support. original
the console can only display
in 1080p. PS4 Pro also improves performance
in games – both in 1080p and 4K.
For example, the game Last Guardian suffered from
low frames per second
regular console, but in the Pro version it
works like clockwork. Load time also
decreased – you will wait a few
seconds to be in
Los Santos after the launch of GTA 5.

Games like Last Guardian benefit greatly from PS4 Pro performance

For
developers release already released games
patches adding support for the desired
permissions, and soon most of the projects
for PlayStation it will be possible to output in 4K.

Verdict.
Should I upgrade to PlayStation 4 Pro

PS4
Pro without a doubt is essential
a step up from the original
PS4. In terms of design, the biggest
the difference is the addition of a third
layer of plastic, and the essential differences
are hiding inside. Video card is working
much faster and the processor has been overclocked
to a higher frequency.

Worth
whether to switch from one console to
the other is up to you. if you have
TV with 4K support, then, without a doubt,
need to pass. If you have a screen
ordinary, the benefits will be too
insignificant (increase in productivity
games, for example).

You can buy regular PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro from the PiterPlay store.

How we chose the best stackable washer-dryers

The team of experts at CBS Essentials scoured the internet to find the top-rated stackable washer-dryers in 2023. These stacked laundry devices are all rated four-stars or higher and feature tons of positive reviews.

CBS Essentials reviewed laundry appliances from your favorite home brands, including Samsung, LG, GE, Whirlpool and more. We found stackable washers and dryers that not only save space but are also outfitted with the latest and greatest washer and dryer features and functions.

What to consider when choosing the best stackable washer-dryer

There are some things you need to consider before choosing the best stackable washer-dryer for your space. Think about your budget. Are you willing to shell out for a smart laundry duo? Or are you looking for stackable laundry appliances that might be more wallet-friendly? Consider your space. Do you want a top-load or a front-load washer? What color would look best?

While we highly recommend electric appliances, you might be someone with a gas hook-up and therefore in need of gas appliances. We’ve found gas and electric laundry duos for you to choose from.

How long do stackable washer-dryers last?

Stackable washer-dryers last as long as standalone washing machines and dryers do. Experts say you should replace your old machines every 12.6 years. They report that your machine’s lifespan can vary by a number of factors: stress, abrasion, maintenance, technological change, fashion, shift in values and other external environmental influences. That means a brand new stackable laundry duo should last you about as long.

Of course, if the washer and dryer pair you currently own just isn’t right for you or your family, now’s a great time to replace it, regardless of when you bought it.

Excellent store, good assortment I really like buying goods there, of course there are congestion at the checkout closer to the weekend due to a large crowd of customers,
but if you don’t rush anywhere, then everything is super!

Very high quality service with a decent assortment. It’s nice that midi can withstand an honest price level. The logistics of the assortment are good,
for which there is constant demand. There is a lack of “heavy artillery” – pagonage made of ferrous metal. An unpleasant impression was left only by a total disregard for the mask regime –
both in shops and warehouses. This is a reproach to both the employees and the management of the wholesalers.

How much did each Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft console cost at launch / Computer and mobile games / iXBT Live

It’s trendy now to do polls on how much you want to buy a console, and there’s always a “too expensive” answer. But is it? On the one hand, we all remember how Sony in 2006 presented the console for 600 bucks, and offered those who could not buy it to find a second job. On the other hand, not many consoles were selling for $500 or more at launch. And now, when a new generation is on the threshold, everyone is thinking, is it not expensive to buy a console for such a price?

It’s taken months of cat-and-mouse with Sony, but Microsoft has finally lifted the curtain on its new console scene. The Xbox Series X, a 12 TFLOPS monster with a Dr. Evil refrigerator design, will retail for $499, while a discless version of the console called the Xbox Series S, which was announced at the same time as its price, will retail for $299. It is worth noting that the Xbox Series S will be significantly weaker than the Series X in terms of performance … Both consoles will be available on November 10th.

Of course, the price can be both a good help at the launch of the console, and a huge failure. The aforementioned Sony situation has become a meme with the $599 PS3 price tag. (In truth, the 60GB hard drive console alone was $599, the 20GB version was $100 cheaper.) Seven years later, the company broke the market by releasing the PS4 at $399, which was $100 less than the console from its direct competitor. . The PS4 has become the fastest console to reach 100 million units in sales.

So, how do the prices of new products from Microsoft compare with other consoles? To answer this question, we studied the prices of all the big three home consoles, starting with the original Xbox and the first Playstation, and of course the Nintendo Entertainment System, where would we be without it.

First, a few ground rules: in addition to the console launch prices themselves, we will also list inflation-adjusted prices rounded to the nearest dollar. (Based on this, the Xbox Series X is cheaper than the Xbox One and Xbox 360.) There was an idea to indicate prices in rubles, but since some of the consoles were not officially sold in Russia, it was decided to use dollars. For the sake of clarity, we’ve used the North American release date of the console as standard, no bundles, unless the console was originally bundled with a game or an optional controller. We also took into account the size of the built-in hard drive, as this had a significant impact on the price. For example, sales of the Xbox One S began in August 2016. There were three different versions of the console, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB, all with different prices, 29$9, $349, $399.

Well, let’s start.

As you can see from this list, the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft are far from the most expensive set-top boxes. Both competitors have devices more expensive than $500. And if Microsoft didn’t set the bar too high, trying not to go over $600, then Sony had a bigger appetite, since the PS3 cost $770 at the start, adjusted for inflation. And although Nintendo at first glance stands on the sidelines, offering consumers cheap devices, but despite this, taking into account inflation, their consoles also occasionally crept up to the $400 mark.

Going back to the beginning, what would be your answer to the question “will you buy a new generation console at launch”? Share in the comments.

The PlayStation 4 Pro is coming soon, bringing games to life in 4K for the first time. How did Sony manage to do this, given that the GPU power has not increased dramatically – only more than 2 times, to 4.2 teraflops? In an interview with Eurogamer console architect Mark Cerny (Mark Cerny) shared the details.

In general, PS4 Pro does not belong to a new generation of systems: the CPU architecture remains the same, the amount of memory has not changed much – the system is intended to be an extension of the existing model: games optimized for it will be able to be displayed in increased resolution up to 4K. At the same time, developers need a minimum of effort to use new features. For example, optimizations for Days Gone for PS4 Pro required only one programmer. Sony claims that full PS4 Pro optimization will take only a fraction of a percent of the total effort involved in creating a game.

First of all, it’s worth saying that the PS4 Pro uses a single-chip system manufactured according to 16nm FinFET standards, instead of the 28nm in the original console. This allowed a significant increase in productivity. For example, 8 Jaguar CPU cores are now running at 2.1 GHz instead of 1.6 GHz (a 1.3x increase in power). The 18 800 MHz Radeon GCN compute units were replaced by 36 911 MHz compute units (a 2.3x power increase). The bandwidth of 8 GB GDDR5 memory has increased by 24%, to 218 GB / s. In addition, there is an additional gigabyte of slower DDR3 RAM.

Sony says its skillful design has resulted in a system capable of efficiently displaying 4 times the number of pixels on the screen, yet perfectly compatible with over 700 original PS4 games. To maximize compatibility, Sony simply doubled the size of the GPU: in compatibility mode, the company disables the other half of the GPU’s compute units, so the system runs very close to the original. CPU power has not increased much (as far as the new technical process allowed), and Sony also decided to use the old and rather weak AMD Jaguar cores for maximum compatibility. Switching to new CPU cores could lead to problems in some projects. In games where the frame rate is not fixed, Sony promises a performance boost.

The company also added a gigabyte of slower DDR3, considering that games needed more memory. On the standard model, when switching between software like Netflix and a game, the app remains in system memory even during gameplay, making it possible to instantly switch to it. On PS4 Pro, a slightly different process occurs: when you switch to a game, Netflix moves to the slower DRAM memory. This frees up almost a gigabyte of GDDR5. 512MB of this extra space is usable by games (i.e. on PS4 Pro they can use 5.5GB instead of 5GB), and the rest is dedicated to rendering the console’s interface in 4K instead of 1080p.

Developers can use this small amount of additional memory as they wish, but usually it all goes to the 4K framebuffer, so do not think that PS4 Pro will be able to provide higher quality textures and resources at higher resolutions – they will remain the same, Just like on a regular PS4. But support for outputting the game in 4K will not require much additional effort from developers or downloading bulky DLCs. A full 4K picture with high-quality textures remains the prerogative of the PC (of course, in relevant games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Far Cry Primal or Gears of War 4, where all resources are optimized for 4K).

On the other hand, Sony has changed the architecture of the GPU in the PS4 Pro, using the latest generation of Polaris. This not only allowed for a significant increase in performance, but also ensured the emergence of new features such as DCC (delta color compression) compression technology, which can significantly reduce memory bandwidth requirements. This is a very important innovation, given the more than doubling of GPU performance and much less GDDR5 bandwidth.

Another improvement is the primitive clipping technology. It improves efficiency (especially in tasks such as various full-screen anti-aliasing methods) by discarding too small triangles from the image processing pipeline. The work with 16-bit instructions for floating point calculations has also been optimized. If previously a 16-bit variable in a shader program occupied the same space as a 32-bit variable, now 16-bit variables need half as many vector registers. This in certain tasks significantly affects the efficiency, increasing the number of instructions processed. That is, in the case of 16-bit computing, peak performance increases from 4.2 teraflops to 8.4 teraflops.

Sony also notes that PC gamers are also benefiting from its collaboration with AMD, with many of the features created specifically for the PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles making their way to the discrete graphics market. This was the case, for example, in the case of asynchronous computing, which was created specifically for PS4 and now gives an advantage to AMD video cards in DX12 mode. Mark Cerny says that AMD is very cooperative and consoles sometimes even get new features before discrete GPUs.

In the case of the PS4 Pro, there are innovations in the GPU that have not yet been implemented in the Polaris architecture and will probably appear in Vega next year. This is more efficient work with 16-bit instructions, as already mentioned, and a very advanced task scheduler, which is also designed to increase efficiency through more intelligent load distribution. This task splitter not only brings fundamental improvements in the speed of tessellation, as in Polaris, but also speeds up rendering in scenes with many small objects.

But that’s not all: the PS4 Pro chip uses special blocks designed for the Sony console and allows it to jump above its head. Today, full-screen anti-aliasing technologies like FXAA or SMAA have their limitations, and it is in this area that Sony tried to solve the problem by introducing an ID buffer, where a separate hardware block writes the object ID to determine the boundaries that need to be smoothed as accurately as possible. It is fully hardware and writes data simultaneously with the Z-buffer. As a result, for the first time, objects, their coordinates, and even individual triangles can be accurately tracked between frames. Modern GPUs can’t do this without a huge performance hit.

Using this buffer allows relatively low resource geometric rendering to create a 4K image, partially using textures and reflection effects at 1080p (this method is used in Infamous First Light for PS4 Pro). There is also a better and more resource-demanding method of cell-by-cell rendering. It also allows you to create an image close to 4K with saving resources due to new high-quality and economical methods of full-screen anti-aliasing based on data from previous frames.

At the same time, according to Sony, the integration of these and other methods of improving resolution and graphics in games does not require significant development efforts, especially since the Japanese company provides code samples. Most PS4 Pro optimized games will run at upscaling 1800p or even 2160p on eligible TVs.

Some games use full dynamic resolution rendering (usually between 80-90% of 4K) that varies depending on scene complexity and workload. But in this case, the use of the ID-buffer allows you to achieve significant advantages. There are also games (Paragon, for example) where the PS4 Pro developers have chosen to simply improve the graphics, frame rates and visual effects, leaving the resolution at 1080p. But the latter approach won’t see much use: Sony encourages developers to optimize games primarily to support higher resolutions for 4K TVs. Owners of regular HDTVs will in most cases get better fullscreen anti-aliasing (although there are exceptions like Paragon, Tomb Raider or Mass Effect Andromeda, which provide 1080p modes with improved effects and rendering quality).

Overall, the $400 PS4 Pro versus the $300 regular PS4 is impressive. Not every game is perfectly optimized for 4K output, but we can already see good results and examples of developers using their own 4K optimization methods (for example, Spider-Man and For Honor). And in the future, we can expect that the ID buffer, other architectural innovations and increased power of PS4 Pro will be used by developers even more efficiently.

The best gaming laptops 2023

The best gaming laptop changes a lot throughout the year. The early days of mobile gaming were largely desktop replacements — clunky chassis, multiple power bricks, and RGB lighting galore. But the top contenders now are different. Manufacturers are finally putting powerful specs in thin gaming machines: sleeker, more portable, and more professional builds. They have excellent, fast refreshing screens that are necessary for a great gaming experience. These laptops aren’t just great for gaming, but for everyday work as well.

The best gaming laptop of 2023 is the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. It can handle the most demanding games on the market today, it’s portable, and it also makes a great daily driver. Other good options are the Razer Blade 16 and the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro.

One more thing to keep in mind is the power you can expect. Not all chips with the same name are created equal — the RTX 3070 in one laptop may not deliver the same frame rates as the RTX 3070 in another laptop due to its wattage (as well as other factors like the processor and cooling). Nvidia now requires companies to disclose clock speeds and graphics power on each model’s product page, but plenty of manufacturers haven’t done that yet.

Out of the many gaming laptops we test each year, here are the ones that make the list. If you’re looking for a more multipurpose device, check out our best laptop page. If you’re an Android gamer, we’ve also got a list of the best Chromebooks you can buy.

What we’re looking for

  1. Value: Gaming laptops are expensive overall, but we’re still looking for devices that offer great value for their asking price. The more expensive a device, the more exceptional it has to be to make it on here.
  2. Frame rates: We like gaming laptops that can run the latest and greatest titles at their highest settings, without requiring any compromises to quality or resolution.
  3. Screen: We like high resolutions that make games look vivid, and we like high refresh rates that can showcase the full power of a gaming laptop’s chips.
  4. Port selection: Laptops with very few ports are okay in some categories, but not on this page. Gamers often need to plug peripherals like mice, keyboards, and monitors into their devices. We expect the best gaming laptops to accommodate them.
  5. Storage: Gaming laptops need more storage than other PC categories, since games take up a lot of space. At least 512GB is a must; at least 1TB is ideal.

We try to keep our picks as current as possible, but we may include an older device over its newer generation if we feel that the newer generation is a significant downgrade. We rarely recommend devices that are more than two years old.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is the best gaming laptop for its price.

There are a couple configurations, and you should make sure that you’re buying the $1,649.99 SKU with the 6700S GPU. We feel that this model, specifically, is the best 14-inch gaming laptop you can buy.

This is a great device for travel and commute gaming, at just 3.79 pounds and 0.77 inches thick. It comes with a great keyboard, touchpad, port selection, and screen. The frame rates it produced in our testing were solid, and we didn’t see a huge difference in performance between the 6700S and 6800S models. We also got all-day battery life, which you don’t see in too many gaming laptops these days. Oh, and there’s even a webcam.

If you are interested in having an animated grid of colored lights on your computer, you can also pay more for a model that has Asus’s AniMe Matrix. We don’t think these models offer particularly good value for their price, but they do have some cute benefits – you can customize them to display words or images of your choice, and there’s a virtual pet on it that you can play with. Regardless, if you’re looking for a 14-inch laptop with powerful gaming chops that can double as a daily driver, this device should top your list.

The GE76 Raider costs an arm and a leg, but it packs some serious power. You can configure it all the way up to Nvidia’s top mobile GPU and Intel’s top processor, and it has the cooling to keep them in line. You can get it with a QHD screen (which we’d recommend for most people, as these hefty specs can take full advantage of it) as well as a 1080p 360Hz display.

Keep in mind that this laptop is really just for gaming. Its battery life is mediocre, and its chassis is quite thick and heavy, so you’ll want to look elsewhere if you’re looking for a computer that could double as a portable work driver. (The power brick is also huge.) But if you’re looking for what’s essentially a desktop you could travel with, the GE76 Raider will deliver a premium experience.

The Blade 18 delivers some of the best gaming performance you can find in a laptop — but that’s not even its superpower. What makes Razer’s 17-inch flagship so impressive is its massive 18-inch screen that delivers a fully immersive gaming experience. And at 0.86 inches, it’s impressively thin for such a powerful device — thin enough to carry in a briefcase or backpack.

If you’re looking for a super-portable gaming laptop that doubles as a tablet, the Flow X13 is one of your only options. The model we tested is the Acronym Edition, which has a funky and unique design done in collaboration with the apparel brand Acronym. You don’t have to buy this particular model (and the plain one will certainly be more affordable, so that’s what’s linked here), but it’s covered in logos and typography, with a multicolored keyboard that looks like it belongs at a fashion show. We recommend going for the non-Acronym model if you’re looking for the best value.

Design aside, the Flow Z13 has the chops to run all kinds of demanding titles at its native QHD resolution. What’s more, it’s compatible with Asus’s XG Mobile external GPU. That means you can plug the Z13 in for heavy-duty performance while you’re at your desk at home. That setup should give you a better gaming experience than you can expect from most gaming laptops on their own.

The Blade 14 is quite expensive compared to Asus’s ROG Zephyrus G14 (listed further up the page), and we recommend that most people on the market for a 14-incher buy that one instead since it’s much more affordable. The Blade, however, can be an alternative for those looking for a higher refresh-rate screen, an RGB keyboard, or a slightly more compact chassis.

The Legion 5i Pro is a fast, pricey gaming laptop from Lenovo. For well under $2,000, you can get exceptional performance from Intel’s 13th-Gen processors in an attractive 16-inch chassis. It delivered respectable results on every game we tried, even at its native 2560 x 1600 resolution. And with the 165Hz or 240Hz display options, you’ll be able to fully take advantage of the Legion 5 Pro’s power.

Performance aside, the highlight of the Legion 5 Pro is its 16:10 screen. A screen this tall is hard to find on the gaming laptop market these days, and it allows you more room for multitasking if you want to use the Legion 5 Pro as a daily driver. The keyboard is also a delight to use, with four-zone programmable backlighting.

The Legion’s main downside is its battery life. We only got about five of continuous use in our testing. While that’s not the worst we’ve ever gotten from a gaming laptop, it’s nowhere near what you’ll see from Asus’ Zephyrus G15. However, it does charge very, very fast with the included 300W power brick. Overall, though the G15 will be a better option for folks who often work on the go, the Legion is still a solid choice — and we have to give Lenovo props for the 16:10 screen.

While the Victus 15 doesn’t have the powerful gaming chops to match some of the other devices in this category, it can certainly run a number of games at their maximum settings, particularly lighter titles. If you don’t want to compromise on more modern AAA titles, we recommend going for the RTX 3050 model rather than the GTX 1650 that we tested.

Best laptops for students in 2023

Shopping for a laptop can be stressful — doubly stressful if you or your children will be learning online for the first time. Kids of different ages have a range of different laptop use cases and different needs. And as the choices for best laptop and best Chromebook evolve, so do students’ needs. So I spoke to some experts on the subject: students themselves.

My recommendations here are meant to accommodate a variety of preferences and price ranges. But they’re a jumping-off point rather than an exhaustive list: every student is different. Before making a decision, you’ll want to make sure you read reviews and try out devices yourself if you can. I’ll do my best to keep this article up to date with items that are in stock.

For younger students, a touchscreen device is easier to use than a keyboard and touchpad, says Michelle Glogovac. Glogovac’s five-year-old son uses an iPad for Webex meetings with his kindergarten class. He’s gotten the hang of it; Glogovac says he’s already learned how to mute and unmute himself, “a skill that many adults aren’t familiar with. ”

That said, it may be worth investing in a keyboard case if you go the tablet route. Glogovac has to type her son’s meeting codes and passwords for him, which can be cumbersome on the iPad’s flat screen.

As kids get older, their best laptop choice will vary depending on their needs. As a parent, it’s important that you and your child are in sync about how they intend to use it and the size of the programs they want.

Kristin Wallace purchased a budget HP laptop for her daughter, Bella, but didn’t realize how quickly the nine-year-old would fill up 32GB of storage. “It is really slow and has no space for games. I need a computer with more storage space,” said Bella, who uses the laptop to Zoom with friends and take virtual guitar lessons and math enrichment classes. Wallace plans to buy Bella a better device in the next few weeks.

Audio quality is an important consideration for kids’ laptops. Lisa Mitchell, an elementary library media specialist, says her students use their devices to watch YouTube videos in addition to their online classes. Battery life is also a plus, even for distance learners who may not be far from a wall outlet. Bella likes to use her laptop all around the house and doesn’t want to bring the cord with her.

Durability is also worth paying for, according to Mitchell. If you’re using a tablet, get a protective case. “If a reasonably-priced insurance or replacement policy is available, it’s usually worth the extra expense.”

Best laptop for middle school

The middle school students I spoke to don’t use their laptops for much more than web-based schoolwork and browsing. Don’t be too concerned about power — prioritize a machine that’s comfortable and easy for your child to use.

“We just got the most basic Chromebook and it is totally perfect,” says Gabrielle Hartley, an attorney and mother of three children. “The most basic Chromebook serves all the needs of the basic middle schooler.”

The Surface Laptop Go 2 is a good choice for students who need a Windows machine.Image: Dan Seifert / The Verge

Hartley’s son Max, who is in eighth grade, agrees. “I would really like a gaming PC or gaming laptop that can plug into a monitor and run video games with 120fps, but I really don’t need that,” Max says. “Most eighth graders aren’t going to be running any video games on their laptops or any software that requires a lot of power.”

Max mostly uses his laptop for Google Classroom applications, including Gmail, Slides, Google Docs, and Google Sheets. They’re very easy to use on his device, which he describes as “a run-of-the-mill Samsung Chromebook. ” That said, if your child is starting middle school this year, it could be worth checking with their teachers to see what operating system is most compatible with their workflow. Caspian Fischer Odén, a ninth grader from Sweden, told me he has trouble with his Chromebook because his school has blocked downloading apps from the Google Play Store.

Even kids with more demanding hobbies think a budget device can get the job done. Sam Hickman, an eighth grader from the UK who uses his laptop for photo and video editing, says, “For most middle schoolers, any processor developed within the last two years will be able to handle any tasks they can throw at it.”

So, what is worth paying for? A comfortable keyboard, several students told me. Many middle school kids aren’t used to typing for long periods of time. You should also look for a device that’s compact and easy for them to carry around, particularly if they’re preparing for in-person school. Shoot for an 11- to 13-inch model — certainly nothing larger than 15 inches.

Best laptop for high school

High schoolers’ laptop needs can vary based on their interests, but most don’t need powerful machines with lots of bells and whistles — especially if they come with glitches or serious downsides that could interfere with schoolwork. Miles Riehle, a student at Laguna Beach High School, has a high-end Surface Pro 7 but finds it overwhelming. “There is so much other stuff that I don’t use very often,” he said. “Something simpler might be a little more straightforward.”

The best operating system may depend on what your child is used to. Aryan Nambiar, a student at Barrington High School in Illinois, has an iMac at home and enjoys using an iPad for his schoolwork. Riehle says he would prefer a Chromebook because he has an Android phone and often uses Google services.

But almost every student I spoke to agreed that the most important feature of a high school laptop is portability. Kids attending in-person classes may be carrying their device around for much of the day with a stack of other books. Look for a 13- or 14-inch screen, or a lighter 15- to 17-inch model.

Students also recommend something sturdy. “Most high schoolers I’ve seen will throw their laptop in their bag without too much care,” says Moses Buckwalter, a student at Penn Manor High School. Backpacks can be jostled in the hallway as well. Kids can also run into trouble at home. “Anything can happen,” says Aadit Agrawal, a high school student from India. “My own brother scratched my laptop with his nails.”

Battery life is another key feature. “It can be a real struggle to find a place to charge while in class,” says Cas Heemskerk, a sophomore from the Netherlands. Unlike college students, many high schoolers don’t have frequent breaks to juice up their devices, so try to find something that can last a full day.

Many students recommend a touchscreen with stylus support. Nambiar uses the feature for his biology class, where he does a lot of visual modeling. “The touchscreen is always a bonus for drawing diagrams, whereas if you’re using a laptop it’d be a whole process to submit a diagram you drew,” Nambiar says. Riehle uses a Surface Pen to fill out school forms and annotate PDFs. Agrawal finds it useful to take notes on the same screen as his online lessons.

Depending on the broadband situation in your area, you may also want a laptop with multiple connectivity options. Agrawal’s online classes are sometimes interrupted by powercuts, so he recommends an LTE model. Matej Plavevski, a junior at Yahya Kemal College in North Macedonia, recommends looking for an Ethernet port in case slower connections disrupt meetings. That’s hard to find on smaller laptops, but there’s a slew of affordable dongles and docks to consider.

Best laptop for college

College kids are justified in spending a bit more money than other age groups. Some (especially in STEM courses) can expect to do some fairly demanding work. Assad Abid, an electrical engineering undergrad from Pakistan, needs to run simulation software for his assignments. Aakash Chandra, a student at New Horizon College of Engineering in India, does a lot of coding, in addition to creative work in Premiere Pro and Photoshop, and gaming. Students also noted that it’s worthwhile to pay for a laptop that will last for a few years after graduation. That means you won’t have to worry about finding and financing your next device until you’re (hopefully) settled into a job.

But among high-end, capable devices there’s still a wide range of options. Students stressed that a college laptop should be light. Expect to bring it between classes, meals, meetings, the library, and other locations on campus. “It’s a boon that I can carry my laptop as well as some notebooks without feeling like I’m carrying too much for six hours a day,” says Haseeb Waseem, a senior at Villanova University.

The Acer Swift 3 is a solid option for students with many configurations at many price points to choose from. Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge

Another universally-lauded feature: battery life. Waseem, who uses an HP Spectre, says the all-day juice gives him “the flexibility to study in a bunch of different locations, and even outside.”

Speakers and webcams are often overlooked, even in top-end devices. But students say it’s worth looking for good ones if you’re starting college this year. Though many college students are now back to in-person classes, some will still be meeting with clubs and attending events online. Waseem isn’t satisfied with his laptop’s audio and picture quality, which he says has made it difficult to pay attention in class and to engage with other students.

Many students will need to invest more in areas tailored to their interests and schoolwork needs. Chandra’s dream laptop would include a stylus and touchscreen for his creative work as well as a high-end GPU. Waseem, who uses his laptop for a hodgepodge of activities, including streaming, coding, social media, video chatting, and Microsoft Office work, would prefer to prioritize a large screen to keep track of his multitasking.

  • HP Spectre x360 14 ($1,399.99): a premium convertible with standout battery life

Best Prices for Touchscreen Laptops 2023

Buying touchscreen laptops is the best deal in US online retailers. With Parcel you have access to promotional offers from overseas retailers and to the range of cheap equipment on eBay.

How to order a laptop from the USA in 2023

Over the past months, the usual delivery methods from overseas online stores have changed many times. The specialists of our company regularly introduce new solutions that provide comfortable shopping for Russian residents. Now the clients of Packet are using a new method of delivering laptops from the USA to Russia — Qwintry Smart.

To order a touch screen laptop from the USA, create an account in Parcel. For equipment from American online stores, you can pay with Russian bank cards through our Purchase Assistance service. When placing an order, money is debited from the balance in the Personal Account. Crypto payments are also allowed to replenish the balance.

The Purchase Assistance service allows you to deliver from foreign online stores any goods that are allowed to be sent to Russia. In your Personal Account, create an application and add a link to the desired product. Our experts will check the list for compliance with the current international shipping rules and issue an invoice. When the parcel arrives at the Parcel Warehouse, arrange delivery to Russia. For a touchscreen laptop delivery in 2023, the Qwintry Smart method is optimal, as the parcel does not reach European customs, where last year there were the longest cargo delays.

Where to buy a touch screen laptop in the US

Many of the customers of Banderolka start their online shopping by checking prices on Amazon. This is convenient for several reasons. The site offers equipment offered by both the corporation and sellers from the marketplace. You can buy not only a new laptop with a touch screen, but also a refurbished device. Refurbished copies are available at a deep discount. That is, Amazon is an excellent choice both in terms of models and price range.

The second site popular among the users of Banderolka is eBay. Here you can see record low prices for touchscreen laptops. This state of affairs is typical not only of used, but also of new copies. By 2023, many eBay sellers have built a great reputation, as evidenced by thousands of satisfied buyer reviews. Therefore, on the site you can safely order a laptop-transformer, having read the information about the entrepreneur.

It is advisable to check the assortment in Newegg. The catalog has a section with touch laptops, and through the filters it is easy to find a device with the optimal configuration.

Touchscreen laptop price

At the beginning of 2023, the maximum allowed price of a touchscreen laptop when shipped to Russia is $750. For this money, you can find equipment on sale or choose restored copies. When filling out the customs declaration, it is the purchase price that is indicated, even if the value on the product card has changed at the time of shipment.

The USA is a country where it is profitable to buy equipment with any budget. If you’re looking for an ultra-cheap touchscreen netbook, check eBay for deals. Look for the latest laptops on Amazon and Newegg. Both retailers regularly run promotions, so even premium models are available at a discount.

In the US, it is easy to find an inexpensive laptop for work for $300. It will be a kind of netbook, only with modern specifications and a touch screen. When choosing laptops for working with graphic editors, you can pay attention to different aspects. For some users, accurate color reproduction is more important. In this case, a good option would be Lenovo Yoga 6, equipped with a touchscreen with 100% sRGB. This model has a high maximum display brightness of 300 nits, which is important when working in a well-lit room.

The Newegg catalog has refurbished Windows Surface devices. Under $750, you can choose the Surface Pro 8 with a quad-core Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor and a high-resolution touchscreen (2880 x 1920 pixels), which makes it easy to work with regular graphics and various 3D images.

It is also worth recalling that computer brands are available in the USA, which have not been heard about in Russia for a long time. Samsung laptops with a touch screen are a clear proof of this. Stylish devices equipped with a QLED display are available in both PC (Windows) and Chromebook formats. Devices on ChromeOS are practically not inferior in functionality to classic laptops, but they are cheaper than analogues.

The 5 Highest Resolution Monitors of 2023

Reviewing the sharpest screens for high-quality setups

We updated this article in June 2023. After reviewing the new and upcoming options on the market, the Dell UltraSharp UP3218K is still the highest-resolution monitor available; and with no 16K monitor on the horizon, we don’t see anything topping it any time soon.

We’ve included some additional high-res options throughout the feature for different categories/aspect ratios.

Whether you’re a gamer, creative or general user, resolution can be one of the most impactful stats in defining your display’s quality.

Thankfully, in today’s market options like 5K & 8K monitors are no longer a pipe-dream, but readily available.

But they’re not all necessarily worth purchasing.

This is why today’s feature is focused not just on the highest resolution monitors available in the world, but the best choices that are actually worth buying for various needs.

Highest Resolution Monitor: Dell UltraSharp UP3218K

Not only is this Dell offering the highest res monitor on the market, but it’s also one of the only innovations that meet the incredible 7690×4320 resolution.

Whether you’re an 8k video editor, someone who wants content to be crisp even at the closest of glances, or are looking for something as close to a future-proof resolution as you can get, the Dell UltraSharp is rivaled by little else.

Alongside the startling 8k, the monitor boasts some fantastic color specifications.

Implementing Dell PremierColor, the UP3218k offers 100% AdobeRGB, 100% sRGB, 100% Rec. 709 & 98% DCI-P3.

Along with these impressive specs is an IPS panel, decent 400-nits brightness, and great contrast capability.

For high-end video/photo editors or those serious about achieving the best content viewing experience (e.g. an HTPC monitor), it’s hard to describe how great 8k content can look alongside the premium picture quality.

It’s worth pointing out though, that while this is the highest resolution monitor in the world that’s readily available, that doesn’t mean it’s the right pick for every setup.

Firstly, for content-focused users, as amazing as 8k content looks; there is a limited amount of it.

We expect UHD/4k to be the leading choice for high-end producers for the foreseeable future. A monitor of this caliber may be overkill unless you are happy to pay the premium. This is why I’ve highlighted some more grounded choices below for mid-range users.

Impressively, it still manages a 6ms GTG response time. We would expect something higher for a screen of this resolution, making it suitable for 8k gaming.

That said, the amount of 8k gaming content available right now isn’t particularly high. And even if it was, you’d only be able to fully utilize the resolution for games if you had the most powerful build possible (even then, it’s a stretch).

Then there’s the fact that you won’t have an 8k 144hz monitor (or any refresh rate above 60fps) for a long time (let alone a PC that can support it). I would say for every gamer, you would prefer a higher refresh rate than 60Hz over the jump from 1440p/4K to 8K.

Yes, 8k gaming will probably be around en-mass one day.

But for today? We strongly recommend focussing your budget on a premium screen with 1440p 240hz, 4k 144hz, or the excellent next pick below that I tailored for gamers.

Gaming aside, if you are a serious production user that demands 8k, then this Dell offering is the best choice for you.

It’s worth pointing out that the screen requires 2 DisplayPort connections to run at 8k.

Finally, I need to touch on the build quality/design.

Somehow both as sturdy as you would hope for in a premium offering, while also offering fantastic slim bezels, a gorgeous aesthetic, and great adjustability (including a 90-degree rotation), I was pleased to see the UP3218K doesn’t compromise on physical longevity.

Although it’s worth noting our cautions and checking out our other picks if you think 4K/5K screens could suit you, we are comfortable in naming this Dell offering the highest resolution monitor worth buying today.

If you demand 8K with fantastic picture quality, it’s the best choice for you.

2023 update: This Dell offering still remains the best 8k monitor with no other worthy competitor in the space. With that said our point still stands; if you don’t need 8K, you (and your wallet) will likely appreciate some of the other options below.

Our Rating: 9/10

Highest Resolution Ultrawide Monitor: Samsung CRG9 / Odyssey G9

Our next choice is one of the most featured monitors on What in Tech, excelling at being both being widest monitor worth buying and a screen excellently suited for gaming.

With a mouth-watering 5120 x 14405k resolution, this Samsung monitor instead chooses to use its 49-inch large pixel count to create a super ultrawide display that is effectively 2 1440p 27-inch screens in one monitor.

Not only do we love this from a perspective of productivity and multitasking, but we also think that Samsung’s approach to exploiting DPI in a 49-inch 32:9 aspect ratio is far more practical than the current 8k monitor on the market.

In other words: although this 5k display is lower resolution, we think many users will appreciate the premium feel of a double-width 27″ 1440p screen more than a 16:9 8k monitor.

This is true most of all for gamers.

With 120Hz, QLED, a fantastic color gamut capability, up to 1000-nits brightness / HDR1000, 4ms GTG response time & FreeSync Premium Pro support, the specs on this machine are incredible.

Not only is the picture quality fantastic, but the low latency, high refresh rate, and capability to avoid ghosting/tearing issues with FreeSync are all utilities that point to what a fantastic premium gaming display this is, whether you’re into single-player titles or competitive esports.

With a decent availability of gaming content supporting 32:9 (or the option to focus on a 16:9 game with things like Discord/Skype and other second-screen visuals), it’s hard to describe just how stunning and immersive content looks on this monitor.

Speaking of immersive, the CRG9 is also the highest resolution curved monitor available.

Boasting a 1800R curve that engulfs games/content around your vision to match the curvature of your eyes more ergonomically/naturally than a flat-screen (the G9 model takes this further and boasts a 1000R curve, the strongest one available in mainstream monitors if you think this would suit you).

Although marketed as a gaming monitor, we think the excellent picture quality, refresh rate, and latency will provide a premium experience to many other types of users; especially considering the price of the CRG9 is in many cases cheaper than “work-orientated” options of similar specs (but if you want other alternatives, our largest monitor feature has them).

Remember that if gaming isn’t on the menu, this is still 2 screens in one. With excellent productivity capability (including the option to connect 2 PCs/laptops at once and display them side-by-side).

If you are a gamer and can stretch your budget further, we highly recommend the other version on the Amazon listing; the Odyssey G9.

Not only is this the highest resolution gaming monitor, but one of the best for gamers in any category. It boasts a 240hz refresh rate & an even faster latency – it’s worth the additional price if you can afford it (but the CRG9 is still an excellent alternative if not).

Finally, I was pretty floored by the gorgeous aesthetic of both models in person. Looking like they could be part of a spaceship, their designs complement the unique innovation behind them, and what’s more; they’re sturdy enough to support real longevity. I’ve been disappointed previously in how some premium ultrawide choices seem to skimp out a little in this area so it’s nice to see these Samsung offerings feel like the full package.

All-in-all, if you’re interested in the unparalleled experience a super ultrawide display can offer, the CRG9 (or OG9) are the best 5K monitors, with incredible quality across the board.

Our Rating: 10/10

Second Highest Resolution 16:9 Monitor: LG 27MD5KL-B

The last of my main 3 picks are for those who think a 5k resolution would be more suited for their needs over 8k, but also want to keep to the traditional 16:9 form factor over our ultrawide pick above.

The 27MD5KL is a fantastic premium monitor. Boasting an IPS panel with 99% DCI-P3 color, a typical brightness rating of 500 nits & a 1100:1 contrast ratio all alongside its 5120 x 2880 setup (the largest resolution monitor outside of 8k), the picture is stunning and for a majority of content, going to look as sharp as that of our top 8k choice.

Important note: The LG UltraFine display runs via USB-C; making it largely positioned as a MacBook/Mac high-resolution monitor. It is compatible with PC usage, however, but make sure you have a graphics card that can support the bandwidth necessary via USB Type-C instead of the usual HDMI/DisplayPort (I’ve still highlighted this for Windows users because the options for 16:9 5k are surprisingly slim, as most manufacturers instead produce ultrawide offerings at this res).

I wouldn’t recommend this pick (or any choices with 16:9 5k) for gaming. With a 16ms GTG response time and specs that are generally not as aligned for games (if you are focussed on a 16:9 screen over the Odyssey G9 above, we would push you towards a 4k 144hz display instead).

The monitor is slick, minimalist, and very aesthetically pleasing, as you would expect from LG, with no qualms about the build quality (and some basic adjustability options for ergonomics).

If 8k feels like overkill for your needs, the 27MD5KL is the best 5k monitor available.

Our Rating: 9/10

Alternative Picks – Best of the Rest

The top 3 picks are the highest resolution displays today (and the best models in their respective categories).

That said, we wanted to include a couple of quick-fire additional options that may suit different lower budgets.

Best Cheap High-Resolution Monitor: AOC U2790VQ

If you are looking at our picks and salivating, but also tearing up at the price tags, don’t worry; we appreciate these are some very expensive monitor options.

If you can’t stretch to a premium offering, we highly recommend this AOC monitor, that still boasts stunning picture quality with 4K, which for budget users, will still provide incredibly gorgeous content.

Our Rating: 9/10

Highest Resolution TV: Samsung 8k Q800T

If you are a user that is open to using a TV as their monitor, the Q800T is an excellent choice; boasting 8K at an incredible price given the size of the screen, media, in particular, will look stunning on this offering.

Our Rating: 9.25/10

It’s the combination of high resolution speed and 98% DCI-P3 color gamut capability that gives gamers the immersive experience they crave. And with VESA Streaming Compression (DSC) technology, the monitor can deliver flawless 4K UHD images in 10-bit color at 144Hz with just one DisplayPort cable.

LG 27GN950

If desired, the LG 27GN950 can be “overclocked” even to a refresh rate of 160 Hz, making it the fastest on the market.

Interfaces include two HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort 1.4. Additionally, there are two USB 3.0 ports for flash drives and other peripherals and one 3.5 mm headphone jack. The monitor stand allows you to adjust the tilt, height and orientation of the screen.

One of the additional features of the LG 27GN950 is Sphere Lighting 2.0. It allows you to dive deeper into the game, while reducing eye strain. In Sound Sync mode, the monitor lights up according to the dynamic sounds in the game. The Video Sync mode will light up according to the colors of the visual effect appearing on the monitor under the circular illumination on the back of the monitor, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the game.

LG 27GN950

In addition, the LG 27GN950 is compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, making the gaming experience even smoother and more realistic and unforgettable.

“Our new gaming monitor delivers the unrivaled performance that consumers have come to expect from the UltraGear.
