HP has come a long way in printers. This one has impressive resolution and good color. It also works with 11×17 paper. As an engineer, this was a must. There are a few things you might consider: the printer cannot scan, it works over hard wire to a LAN and the second paper holder is not a tray, it is a fold out holder that works very well. On the plus side, the printer is very fast. You should consider buying the HP Support monthly plan since I’ve had great support via the telephone. HP knows the driver you should download, FYI.

               The best 11×17 printer we’ve tested is the Epson EcoTank ET-15000, an all-in-one inkjet printer. This supertank model feels sturdily built, with a design allowing easy access to the ink tanks and sheet rollers, making maintenance straightforward. It has many connectivity options, including USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, as well as support for Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print service, so you can print from your iOS and Android mobile devices without installing any drivers or a third-party app. The scanner has an automatic feeder to process long multi-page documents, although it’s a little slow and doesn’t support duplex scanning.

               Printing-wise, this model produces sharp, detailed documents whether you print in black-and-white or color. Photos look detailed and colorful, albeit slightly grainy. As for its page yield, a full tank gets you nearly 7,000 prints, and on top of that, the replacement ink bottles are relatively cheap, so you won’t need to spend much on maintenance. Its printing speed is good; it’s fast with black documents but slow with color documents and photos. One thing to note is that while it supports automatic duplex printing, it doesn’t work when printing tabloid size.

               If you want something similar but cheaper, get the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740. In some ways, this printer is better than the pricier Epson EcoTank ET-15000, as it produces slightly sharper documents, has better color accuracy, and supports single-pass duplex scanning. Additionally, its input trays hold a total of 500 sheets of paper, almost double that of the Epson, which is great for large print jobs as you won’t have to refill the tray as often.

               With all that said, it has one significant downside compared to the Epson: page yield. It uses regular ink cartridges instead of a refillable supertank, and as a result, it yields far fewer prints, around 1100 black and 650 color. Those are still respectable yields for a printer that uses cartridges, but it’s far from what the Epson can achieve. Its cost per print is still very low, though, as the cartridges are inexpensive. Connectivity options include the usual Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet, and you can also print directly off a USB flash drive.

               Our best budget pick is the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-7840. This all-in-one has many connectivity options, including USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, and it can also print directly off a USB flash drive. The scanner has an automatic feeder and supports automatic duplex scanning, making it easy to process multi-page and double-sided documents. It produces very sharp documents and prints relatively quickly for an inkjet model. For photo printing, it has a decently wide color gamut; however, its color accuracy is just okay, and there’s a lot of grain in the photos.

               Again, this printer’s main downside is its low page yield. You can only get about 350 black and 300 color prints from a single set of ink cartridges. The cartridges are cheap, so the cost per print isn’t an issue. It’s inconvenient because you’ll likely need to interrupt your print jobs to replace the cartridges, and all that plastic isn’t exactly environmentally friendly. One thing to note is that this printer’s retail price normally sits closer to $350 USD, but it’s often on sale.

               If you’re looking specifically to print photos and want the best print quality, get the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300. This professional-grade photo printer produces incredibly detailed, vibrant, and color-accurate photos. It supports borderless printing and paper sizes up to 13″ x 19″. It uses nine ink cartridges, some of which are photo cartridges that work only on glossy photo paper, meaning you won’t have to worry about depleting the photo ink if you want to print normal documents or reports. Its cost per print is decent; it’s very cheap to print in black, but the color cartridges are expensive. Unfortunately, this is a print-only model, so you’ll have to get a separate scanner to digitize photos.

               If you find the Canon too expensive, get the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 instead. It also produces amazing photos; the main difference is that it isn’t as color-accurate as the Canon, as it tends to oversaturate the colors to make them appear more vibrant. However, it has a scanner, and it’s much cheaper to maintain because its refillable ink tanks yield significantly more prints. Like the Canon, it supports various paper sizes up to 13″ x 19″.

Can You Connect Two Bluetooth Headphones To An iPhone At The Same Time?

iPhone users might want to share audio with friends, but is it possible to connect two Bluetooth speakers or headphones at the same time?

Modern iPhones offer many audio features, but can users connect two Bluetooth headphones to the same iPhone simultaneously for a synchronized listening or viewing experience? Friends may want to listen to the same song or watch the same video clip together from the same smartphone, but doing this while sharing earbuds is inconvenient. A better way to do this is to connect two sets of earbuds or headphones to the same phone.

Fortunately, modern iPhones let users connect to multiple Bluetooth speakers or headphones simultaneously via AirPlay. The feature, called ‘Share Audio,’ was rolled out in 2019 with iOS 13.1, allowing iPhone users to share one audio stream between two pairs of earbuds or headphones. Prior to the rollout of the new feature, iPhones supported only one Bluetooth audio device at a time, meaning users had to share a single pair of earphones or earbuds if they wanted to listen to a song or watch a video together on an iPhone.

Before getting started on the details, it is important to note that Share Audio is only compatible with select iPhone models and wireless headsets. According to Apple, the compatible devices include iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd-generation) and later, iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad Pro 10. 5-inch, iPad Air (3rd-generation) and later, iPad mini (5th-generation) and later, iPad (5th-generation) and later, and iPod touch (7th-generation). Compatible headphone models include only Apple’s in-house earbuds and headphones, including all AirPods models, as well as a number of Beats and Powerbeats devices.

To start sharing audio between two devices, connect a compatible pair of earphones to an iPhone, and tap the AirPlay button in the Control Center or the streaming app. Now select ‘Share Audio’ and then hold the second pair of AirPods or Beats headphones close to the iPhone. If they’re AirPods, make sure to keep them in their case, while for Beats headphones, put them in pairing mode. The iPhone will now automatically detect the device and display its name on the screen. Simply tap ‘Share Audio’ to start sharing.

Once both the devices are connected to the iPhone, users can control various audio settings for the two pairs of devices, either together or individually. For example, to control the audio, users can hit the play, pause, or stop buttons with controls on the Lock Screen or in the Control Center. To increase or decrease volume, drag the volume slider for either set of headphones, or the unified volume slider that will affect the audio level of both. To stop sharing, press the AirPlay button in Control Center, the Lock Screen, or the current app, and then tap the checkmark next to the headphones that need to be disconnected from the iPhone.

Review: Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset

Apple’s first accessory for the iPhone is its minimalist Bluetooth headset. It’s light, simple, and attractively designed, but also lacks features of comparably priced devices and fails to deliver the full potential of the iPhone.

In The Box

The headset costs $129, which is near the high end of comparable headsets. It also includes an iPhone dual dock that charges both the headset and the iPhone, and a separate USB docking cable that can be used to charge both from a single USB when traveling. It does not include another wall AC adapter. Apple charges $50 for an iPhone dock and $30 for an extra headset charging USB cable, so having both included in the headset’s box and price makes the price seem fair as a package.

The box is identical to the iPhone’s; it even presents the tiny black adapter in a similar clear plastic tray, as if it were sleeping beauty in a glass coffin waiting for its prince charming to activate it. Apple’s presentation skills are getting so sophisticated that it’s difficult to ever throw the packaging away.

Also inside the box are two iPod style ear piece covers and a thin user guide. The device itself is so simple that the manual is almost unnecessary. Simply plugging it into the dock with the iPhone pairs the two together and charges it up; everything else is managed by its one button on the headset itself:

Push the button to accept or end a call or

Push and hold the button until it beeps to decline a call.

Call Management

With a second call on hold, or when receiving a second call:

Push the button to hold the existing call and take the second call or

Push and hold the button until it beeps to drop the existing call and take the second call.

Power Management

To turn the device on, push and hold the button until three rising tones play and the LED blinks green.

To turn the device off, push and hold the button until three falling tones play and the LED blinks amber.

While on, pushing the button will play a tone and the LED will blink green to indicate that it’s on.

When placed in the dock, the amber LED on the headset flashes while charging, then turns solid green when fully charged. The headset only fits into the dock one way, and snaps into place using a magnetic connection similar to the Mac Book’s MagSafe plug.

The headset promises 5.5 hours of talk time or 72 hours of standby before needing a charge. The provided dock and cable indicate that it needs to be charged about as often as the iPhone. Some headsets offer considerably more battery life, but that also tends to make them larger and heavier. This headset is just 2″ long and as thin as a carpenter’s pencil.

The iPhone’s Match

The headset’s effortlessly simple charging and Bluetooth pairing makes the device well matched for the iPhone. In fact, while Apple includes instructions on how to manually pair it with other phones, it’s obvious that it was designed expressly for iPhone users. Its large desktop dual dock is rather worthless without an iPhone, and its USB cable also cries out for attachment to the phone it was designated to pair with.

Apple doesn’t have to worry about too many consumers wanting its Bluetooth adapter, as there are plenty of cheaper or more broadly featured devices that are widely available. Using it with another phone is a bit like using Apple’s Mighty Mouse with a PC; sure you can, but nobody really has any good reason to do so.

It can be paired with a computer that supports standard Bluetooth headsets using the Hands Free Profile 1.5. The most obvious use outside the iPhone would be as a desktop iChat headset.

Apple’s headset appears to be the black version of the iPod’s white headphones: a subtle indication and perhaps fashion statement that you’re using an Apple product. Unlike the iPod’s inexpensive white earbuds, the Bluetooth headset costs too much to be bundled with every iPhone, making it an extra slightly bit more elitist. Unlike many other headsets, Apple’s looks less like a Star Trek Borg disguise and more like a sophisticated and elegant business tool.

Sound Check

It’s not just looks either. The solid form of the device works in either ear and acts as a directional mic to pick up sound very well; callers remarked that they could hear me as well or better then when talking directly into the iPhone. The earpiece was less ideal, with occasional interference and lower volume than I would prefer, particularly when in a noisy environment. Volume is adjusted from the iPhone; turning up the volume to the max only provided enough sound for a quiet room, and seemed to increase the amount of noise more than the actual signal.

Wireless range depends on a lot of factors, including interference from other radio sources such as a microwave oven, cordless phones, and 2.4 GHz WiFi networking. Apple says the headset has an operating range of “up to 33 feet,” but the headset and the iPhone seemed to do poorly when separated by an obstruction of any kind, even when very close together. Simply putting the iPhone in my back pocket noticeably degraded the signal to the point where it was noisy, and I don’t even have any bionic parts between my ear and my pelvis.

At less than a quarter of an ounce, the nearly weightless headset is at least as comfortable to wear as other earbud headphones, without the tugging wires. It seemed to prefer to occasionally rotate downward so that the mouth piece was pointed at my shoulder rather than my mouth, but it was virtually impossible to get it to fall out of my ear without physically bumping it.

Missing Features

Despite its minimal and sophisticated flat black appearance, Apple’s headset doesn’t do everything other headsets can. Many offer some sort of call redial feature, and some include fancy noise filtering features and a longer battery life. Apart from switching between calls, it doesn’t offer any way to merge calls; any special call handling requires keeping the iPhone out and available. The adapter also doesn’t add any new features to the iPhone, so there’s no way to perform voice dialing, for example.

The most troubling problem for the Bluetooth adapter is that, while it’s certainly serviceable as a phone headset, it ignores both the iPod and the ‘breakthrough Internet device’ that lurk within the iPhone. There’s no way to listen to music or to live podcasts in Safari over the headset, meaning headset users have to restrict their use of the iPhone to simply being a phone, unless they play the iPhone’s music through its built in speaker or through their vehicle’s audio system. Otherwise, listening to music requires putting in earbuds and taking the headset out.

That makes the biggest consideration for potential buyers whether they feel wireless headset operation trumps listening to music. Ideally, Apple will release A2DP Bluetooth support for the iPhone and offer a stereo Bluetooth headset to match, delivering the best of both worlds. Until then, users will have to decide whether the iPhone’s included earbuds — with integrated mic and call accept button — really need to be replaced with a Bluetooth headset.

The Wrap Up

Apple’s Bluetooth Adapter is a well designed product that performs suitably as intended, but doesn’t trade off any simplicity for some of the features in other Bluetooth headsets. Sound quality is very good for the remote caller but only fair to good for the user. Users attracted to Apple’s attractive, minimalist, and easy to use designs shouldn’t be disappointed, but it offers no real surprises in terms of features.

Which wireless headphones are suitable for iPhone?

This article will focus on choosing wireless headphones for iPhone. If you have an iPhone (no matter what version), and you decide to purchase wireless Bluetooth headphones, then I can assume that you have a number of questions: “what headphones are suitable for my iPhone”, “does the iPhone work with headphones from other manufacturers”, ” what to look for when choosing”, “which headphones work best with the iPhone”, etc. I will try to answer all these questions today. If in this article you do not find the information you need, then ask in the comments. I answer everyone very quickly.

Perhaps you were looking for information on connecting exactly wired headphones, and accidentally stumbled upon this page. I will devote one paragraph to this topic and move on to the main part. In the case of wired headphones, everything is simple. Before the iPhone 6s version (including it), these smartphones had the familiar 3.5 mm Jack connector. Almost any wired headphones can be connected directly to them. Starting with the iPhone 7, the 3.5 mm jack was removed, and you can only connect an earphone via the Lightning port. There are original EarPods with a Lightning connector. Also, for some time, smartphones came with a Lightning-Jack 3.5 mm adapter. I had one with my iPhone 10. To connect to iPhone 7 and newer headphones with a 3.5 mm jack, you need a Lightning to Jack 3.5 mm adapter. If you don’t have it, you can easily buy it. There are both original and non-original versions.

The rejection of the 3.5 mm jack in iPhones was made specifically in favor of wireless headphones, because with the release of the iPhone 7, AirPods were also introduced – Apple’s wireless TWS headphones. And starting from September 2018, the company stopped equipping all iPhones with an adapter for connecting conventional headphones with a 3.5 mm jack. It can be purchased separately.

Which wireless headphones work with iPhone?

Any. Absolutely any Bluetooth headphones will work with iPhone. It doesn’t matter if it’s AirPods Pro Max, or $5 Chinese earphones from AliExpress – they will connect and work with your smartphone. It also doesn’t matter the version: iPhone 5, 6, iPhone SE, 7, 8, XR, 10, 11, 12, or iPhone 13 – you can connect any Bluetooth headphones to it. In any case, when buying, you can always check this point with the seller. In the characteristics in online stores, on the same AliExpress, or on the official website of the headphone manufacturer, they usually indicate whether the headphones are compatible with Apple technology or not.

We are talking about different formats of headphones, both regular ones (in the photo on the left) and TWS are connected, when the two headphones are separate and are connected to each other via Bluetooth (in the photo on the right).

I use AirPods 2 with my old iPhone X. Before that, there were first generation AirPods and JBL E45BT. Also many times (in the process of writing articles for this site) I had to connect the popular Xiaomi Redmi AirDots, cheap Chinese i7s, i11 and a few more models from other manufacturers. All these headphones will connect to the iPhone without any problems and work fine (as far as possible, but here is the question for the headphones).

During the connection process, many people encounter a problem when the iPhone does not see the Bluetooth headphones, and they start to think that the headset is not compatible with their iPhone. As a rule, this is not the case. I wrote about solving this problem here: why the phone does not see wireless headphones via Bluetooth.

Which headphones are best for iPhone?

Best of all, of course, the iPhone works in tandem with AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro Max. It is the same with BeatsX headphones, which have Apple’s W1 chip installed, thanks to which these headphones are just as easy as AirPods to connect to the iPhone (pop-up window), perfectly integrate into the system, set up, display the charge of the left and right earbuds, case, etc. Apple wouldn’t be Apple if it didn’t sharpen its own headphones to work perfectly with its own smartphones. But even connecting AirPods sometimes has problems. I wrote about solving these problems here.

Same connection process. Just open the AirPods case and bring it to your iPhone, or activate the connection mode on BeatsX. The phone itself will see the headphones, understand what model it is, what functions it supports, offer to connect them and configure them. Interestingly, the Chinese somehow even managed to fake it 🙂

If we connect headphones from another manufacturer, then there is nothing difficult in this. You just need to manually select the headphones in the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone and you’re done. Above I gave a link to detailed instructions.

The function keys on the headphones will also work: switching tracks, calling Siri, managing phone calls. But it will not be possible to configure these function keys (immediately in the settings, as is the case with AirPods), unless the headphone manufacturer has a proprietary application. Automatic connection and disconnection of headphones also works.

I can say with confidence that with the iPhone it is very convenient to use wireless headphones of any manufacturer and any format. If you have an Apple phone, this does not mean that you should definitely buy Apple headphones. Choose what you like and what fits your budget.

How to connect wireless Bluetooth headphones to iPhone or iPad

Bluetooth headphones, this is a cool and versatile thing. And if you have landed on this page, then you most likely already have wireless headphones, and you appreciated how easy they are to use. I somehow put off buying Bluetooth headphones, but still decided to buy them to listen to music from all over the iPhone. And now I also use them with iPad, laptop, and even TV 🙂

I don’t know how relevant and useful this article will be, but I decided to tell in detail and show how to connect Bluetooth headphones to iPhone or iPad. In other words, to iOS devices. Everything is very simple and clear. But in some cases, problems may arise. I hope that my instructions will help you quickly connect your headphones to your phone or tablet and enjoy music. By the way, if you have headphones with a microphone, you can also answer calls from your iPhone through them. It is very comfortable.

I have JBL E45BT headphones and they have buttons with which you can increase or decrease the volume, change tracks (by pressing and holding the volume buttons), and answer and end calls. And another nice little thing that was waiting for me after connecting the headphones to the iPhone was the display of the headphone charge level in the widgets on the iPhone. I don’t know if this function works with all headphones, but the thing is convenient.

And so, we have an iPhone or iPad and Bluetooth headphones, and we need to connect them. I have this JBL E45BT, iPhone 6 and iPad mini. You may have other devices, the connection order will practically not differ even on iPhone 8 🙂

First we need to turn on our headphones and put them in pairing mode with a new device. So that the headphones are available for search. Turn on the power and see if the blue indicator blinks. It should just blink. If not, then you need to press a separate button (with the Bluetooth icon), or press and hold the headset power button.

Important: the indicator should flash blue.

Then we do this:

• We take our iPhone or iPad and go to the settings.
• Go to the “Bluetooth” section.
• Turn on Bluetooth and select your Bluetooth headphones in the list of detected devices.
• We see the “Connected” status near the headphones, and the icon next to the battery level.

If you click on the “i” icon next to the headphones, you can disconnect from them, or even delete “Forget this device”.

And here is the same “Batteries” widget, which automatically appears after I connect the headphones, and displays their battery level.

In the future, just turn on the power of the headphones and Bluetooth on your iOS device, and everything will connect automatically.

What to do if the iPhone does not see Bluetooth headphones?

Unfortunately, this sometimes happens. I’m unlikely to recommend something new and 100% working, but I’ll still write a few recommendations.

• First, make sure your headphones are turned on and can be found and connected to other devices. This is done differently on different headphones, but the “Bluetooth” indicator should flash blue. Not to burn, namely to blink. This mode is most often activated by a separate button on the headphones themselves, or by holding the power button.
• Turn off Bluetooth on iPhone and turn it back on. Perhaps, after that, the headphones will appear in the list available for connection.
• Place the headphones next to your phone or tablet.
• If ​​nothing helps, then you need to look for the culprit. To do this, you need to connect some other Bluetooth device to your iPhone, or connect the headphones to another phone, tablet, laptop, etc.
• You can also try restarting your mobile device.

With Xbox One, Microsoft updated the wireless connectivity security protocol that exists between wireless controllers and the receiver on the console. Because of this, wireless Xbox 360 controllers and accessories aren’t natively compatible with the Xbox One. In order to support the vast amount of cool Xbox 360 wireless Rock Band controllers already out there, Mad Catz and Harmonix worked together to design Legacy Game Controller Adapter for Xbox One that enables backwards compatibility for most legacy wireless Rock Band controllers.

How do I sync my legacy game controllers on the Xbox One?

Please refer to our Rock Band 4 Instrument Compatibility Chart for a list of available legacy game controllers. Keep in mind that you must have the Legacy Game Controller Adapter hooked up to your Xbox One to play Rock Band 4 with compatible legacy instruments. You do NOT need to sync microphones – as long as a controller is synced to your console, plug in your microphone via USB and you’re good to go!

1. Make sure your Xbox One is turned on and you have Rock Band 4 running.
2. Make sure your Legacy Game Controller Adapter is plugged in to your Xbox One.
3. Make sure your music game controller that you are trying to sync has fresh batteries.


Press and hold the Xbox 360 button on your instrument. This is found in the center of your drum kit or next to the D Pad on your guitar.

4. A green light around the Xbox 360 symbol should turn on and start blinking slowly. This means the controller is waiting to sync.
5. AT THE SAME TIME: Press and hold the sync button on the Legacy Game Controller Adapter and press and hold the small wireless button on your music controller (for Rock Band drums, this is a button found on the bottom left side of the main center brain. For Rock Band guitars, this is a button found where the amp plug would be). You only need to hold down both of these buttons for a maximum of two seconds.
6. The green light on your legacy instrument should start rotating around the Xbox 360 symbol. This means the controller is trying to sync with your console. After a few moments, it will stop blinking and a steady green light will show up in one of the four corners around the symbol to symbolize what player the controller is synced to (Player 1, 2, 3, or 4). If the green light is steady and not blinking, this means your controller has synced.
7. If your controller continues to blink slowly, repeat step 6 until the light becomes steady. Make sure to press BOTH sync buttons on the Legacy Game Controller Adapter and the game controller at the same time!
8. Once your controller has synced, press the Start button to officially get in game and rocking!

What is a speaker wall plate?

A speaker wall plate is a
pre-made wall plate used to help manage surround sound speaker
connections. Most speaker wall plates are pre-configured with
integrated connectors so you can easily attach all your surround sound speaker cables
in one central location. The most common practice is to run all your
in-wall speaker wires directly to the back of the speaker wall plate.
Then from the front you are able to run smaller cables from the wall
plate to the audio receiver and/or amplifier. A speaker wall plate
creates permanent outlets for all your audio cables, plus it allows you
to protect your longer speaker wire runs by leaving them safe in the
wall. The last thing you want to do is damage the wires you have ran in
your walls and ceilings. It could be very expensive and time consuming
to re-install new wire runs if for some reason you damage the in-wall
cables. Using a speaker wall plate will also give your installation a
clean professional look.

How do I install a speaker wall plate?

Most speaker wall plates are made to mount on a standard 1 or 2 gang low voltage mounting bracket.
Once all your cable runs are attached to the back side of the speaker
all plate you can simply screw the entire plate right onto the installed
mounting bracket. Most speaker wall plates allow you to easily attach
speaker wire to them via a binding post or a banana plug style
connection. After your in-wall speaker wires are attached to the
speaker wall plate, and you have mounted it to the mounted bracket, you
are ready to start running shorter patch cables from the wall plate to
your audio components.

How do I choose a speaker wall plate?

Speaker
wall plates are available in multiple configurations to support almost
any applications. The key to choosing a speaker wall plate is to match
your speaker wire runs to the available connections that are configured
on the plate. You will notice that the most common speaker wall plates
are configured for 5.0, 5.2, 6.2, 7.1, and 7.2 configurations. Once you
access the connection you need to support your installation you can
then match those needs with the right plate.

Will a speaker wall plate affect my audio signals?

It
depends. We recommend always using a professional grade speaker wall
plate. All of our option feature speaker binding posts that support
both banana plug and screw in options for attaching to speaker wire. 

What if I can’t find the speaker wall plate that supports my installation?

If
you can’t find the right speaker wall plate for your application you
can always make your own. You can use a standard keystone wall plate
and then fill it with all the connectors you need. We offer numerous
keystone speaker connectors and binding posts that will allow you to set
up a plate exactly how you need it. In some cases this is the best
strategy because you can also integrate other connector types you need
into wall plate. We offer numerous audio video keystone inserts to support F, RCA, IDC, HDMI, USB, BNC, and speaker connection types.

What gauge speaker wire does a speaker wall plate support? 

Most speaker wall plates are designed to support 12, 14, and 16 gauge speaker wire types. So you will not have any installation issues regardless of the speaker wire gauge you use.
