5 Best Gas & Electric Ranges Under $800 of 2023

Written by James Aitchison and Lindsay D. Mattison

Updated June 6, 2023

For some, spending thousands of dollars on a range just doesn’t make any sense. If you aren’t a professional chef, you probably don’t need any of the fancy cooking features that lift prices to eye-watering levels. Perhaps you simply prefer a cheap stove that can reliably get dinner on the table. Luckily, there are plenty of ranges that fit the bill.

What should you expect at this price point? Answer: freestanding gas ranges and freestanding electric ranges with decent-to-very-good cooking and baking performance. You won’t find any pricey finishes or induction cooktops in this price bracket, but don’t worry, you can still get a list of some great-looking (and great-performing) ranges on the market, even when you’re operating on a budget. To find out what this type of kitchen appliance offers, take a look at this list of the best budget cookers you can get online right now.

Editor’s Note:

The recommendations in this guide are based on thorough product and market research by our team of expert product reviewers. The picks are based on examining user reviews, product specifications, and, in some limited cases, our experience with the specific products named.

Amana ACR4503SFS

  • Range type: Freestanding electric
  • Oven space capacity: 4.8 cubic feet
  • Number of cooktop burners: 4

What the Amana ACR4503SFS lacks in features, it more than makes up for in performance. It’s true that it is a very bare-bones electric range; its bare electric coils and black cooktop surface are reminiscent of the ranges that come standard in a rental apartment or a college dorm. This range has the same user-friendliness that you’d need in a range you didn’t purchase yourself, though: the burner dials feel nice and turn easily, the oven control knobs are easily visible and intuitive, and it comes with an easy self clean function.

Its humble exterior belies its excellent cooking prowess, however. All four burners can get both extremely hot and maintain a low simmer, the six slices of test toast came out perfectly and evenly browned, and the pork loin was beautifully cooked, inside and out.

Unfortunately, from the somewhat unevenly baked cookies and cakes, we can tell you that it has a bit more trouble when it comes to baking. Between the low price, streamlined design, and cooking performance, we think it’s worth it for you to check out the Amana AC4503SFS, as long as you can overlook its less-than-ideal baking capabilities.

GE JBS60DKWW

  • Range type: Freestanding electric
  • Oven space capacity: 5.3 cubic feet
  • Number of cooktop burners: 4

We put the inexpensive GE JBS60DKWW electric range to the test and found that it’s overall build quality is good for the price point. Consumers agree that it’s worth its price despite its lack of bells and whistles—It’s attractive, a snap to use and easy to clean, especially in comparison to other ranges.

Its cooktop is smooth and offers a ton of space, as well as a dual-ring burner. The front left burner also has a separate “melt” setting, which is perfect for bakers who, for example, want to melt baking chocolate without scorching it. Its 5.3 cubic-foot oven excels in roasting and baking.

The white finish will help it to fit in with any other white appliances you have, but if you prefer, you can pay a bit extra and upgrade to a stainless steel stove electric finish. The GE JBS60DKWW electric range makes “back to basics” look easy.

Pros
  • Very inexpensive

Amana AGR6603SFS

  • Range type: Freestanding gas
  • Oven space capacity: 5 cubic feet
  • Number of cooktop burners: 4

This Amana AGR6603SFS gas range has a 5.0 cubic-foot oven that bakes, roasts, and broils insanely evenly, even without the true convection baking feature. Having an oven this good is almost unheard of, especially at this price point.

However, its range top leaves something to be desired. None of the burners can effectively reach high or low temperatures, it struggles to boil water in a reasonable amount of time, and the fact that the individual burners are recessed (rather than the cooktop as a whole) means that it will be a non-trivial task to really clean each burner. The Amana AGR6603SFS range is great for bakers and lackluster for home cooks.

Maytag MGR6600FZ

  • Range type: Freestanding gas
  • Oven space capacity: 5 cubic feet
  • Number of cooktop burners: 5

There are a lot of things to like about the Maytag MGR6600FZ gas range. Where some products seem to have good ovens or good cooktops, but not both, this gas range has multiple cooktop burners with a strong heating element that can boil water quickly and maintain very high temperatures, as well as an oven that produces evenly baked cookies.

The model we tested has a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish, which is a nice surprise at this price point. Even better, the cooktop’s center burner is larger and oval-shaped, which makes it perfect for cooking with larger cookware. On the other hand, user reviews indicate that the burners may be placed too close together and that you might not be able to fit multiple large pots and pans on the cooktop at the same time. While it’s not perfect, the Maytag MGR6600FZ will serve you well in both its cooktop and oven capacities.

GE JGBS66REKSS

  • Range type: Freestanding gas
  • Oven space capacity: 5 cubic feet
  • Number of cooktop burners: 5

Editor’s Note: December 9, 2021

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of the GE JGBS66REKSS gas range due to a tip-over hazard. Affected customers should contact GE for repairs. You can find more information about the recall here and check your individual model and serial numbers here.

The affordable GE JGB66REKSS gas range comes in lots of finishes—including stainless and Slate—and includes a couple of features that are usually found on more expensive ranges. If you find yourself cooking breakfast a lot, this range comes with a built-in griddle burner in the center of the cooktop and obviates the need for a separate, stand-alone griddle that takes up room on your countertop. We found the drawer-mounted broiler hard to use, and steam cleaning is good for small spills.

As for cooking, this gas range did a solid job with the oven tests, but struggled a bit more when it came to our cooktop performance tests; the burners are a bit slow at cooking. It took quite a bit of time to bring water to a boil than we’d prefer. If you rely more heavily on your oven to do your cooking but will get some solid use out of the bonus griddle burner on the cooktop, the GE JGBS66REKSS is definitely worth a look. Read the full review.

What Are the Different Types of Ranges?

One of the main ways to differentiate ranges is by their fuel type: gas, electric, dual-fuel, and induction.

Gas — Lower cooktop temperatures, faster water boiling than electric ranges, potential for uneven cooking/baking because of central flame location

Electric — Higher cooktop temperatures, slower water boiling compared to gas and induction, more even cooking/baking because of heat distribution over coil

Dual-fuel — Gas cooktop with an electric oven, which will give you faster water boiling times than an electric stove, but more even cooking/baking than a gas oven because of heat distribution over coil

Induction — Much faster water boiling, very high and low cooktop temperatures, requires induction-compatible cookware, may require recipe modification

Depending on your cooking and baking priorities, as well as the way you learned to cook, one of these fuel types might be more appealing than the rest. One more thing to consider: dual-fuel and induction ranges can be more expensive than traditional gas and electric ranges, depending on the features and manufacturer.

Best gas stove with electric oven

Cooking is a responsible and stressful process. Attention to detail is a must. What can we say about attention to such things as a means of cooking. Kitchen appliances should work like clockwork, be comfortable and practical. Gas stoves with an electric oven meet these requirements one hundred percent. They combine the convenience of gas stoves with the practicality of electric ovens. Using models with numerous modes, you can cook dishes no worse than those of famous chefs, and maybe even better, because everyone knows that homemade dishes are the most delicious. That is why there are so many models of stoves with different food for the oven and stove. It’s just that their practical application is fully justified, despite the possible inconvenience.

Who needs it?

Similar models can be useful to everyone. But the main consumers are still young families and families with a large number of people. For young families, this is a real find – cooking in the oven greatly saves not only financial resources, but also time, which is worth its weight in gold for them. After all, no one wants to “work” after work and also at home – as a cook. And so – put the chicken breast marinade, and after half an hour – put it in a heated oven. Everything, the dish is actually ready, and the gas stove allows you to conveniently and quickly cook soups, fry meat and insure in case of a power outage. For larger families, things work out the same way. Only the wife usually does not work, but looks after the child, which is much more difficult. And so, cooking takes much less time than it could.

Structural features

With a gas stove and an electric oven, you get a huge amount of useful features. For example, everyone knows that gas ovens are very inferior to electric ones – they heat up longer, the heating element is located below, it is more difficult to control the temperature. But on the other hand, gas stoves are much more convenient than electric ones – they are resistant to damage, heat up faster and cool down faster. But the split stove embodied the most useful parts, so you’re left with a clean plus, no minuses. What’s more, an electric oven doesn’t need the same reliable power supply as an all-electric stove, which means it can be used in rooms that were considered “unreliable.”

How to choose a comfortable model

Choosing a quality and adequately standing model is not an easy task. So in order to make the right choice, you should take the advice of seasoned buyers.

Here are some tips:

  • Decide in advance what features you want from the product you are purchasing and how much you can allocate from your budget to purchase it. By setting yourself some limits, you limit your potential spending.
  • Explore the features and specifications of your future purchase online in advance. This way you will shop with confidence and with the exact knowledge of what you are purchasing.
  • Read reviews about equipment on specialized sites. Sometimes expensive models can break down worse than the cheapest oven bought through third parties.

Which gas stove is better with gas or electric oven?

The gas equipment market today offers an incredible variety of oven options. Technologies allow housewives to completely entrust the preparation of even the most delicious dishes to the oven by choosing the mode according to the recipe. However, the issue and the type of energy resource that is used for the oven is a determining factor in choosing an oven for purchase.

AND so, let’s analyze in more detail: which oven is better: electric or gas

To begin with, it is important to understand what an oven is? It is a container made of metal, with ventilation holes located on the walls, and inside there is a cooking chamber. Between the walls and the actual chamber there is a heat-insulating material that reduces heat loss and thereby maintains the temperature of the working room of the inner chamber at the desired level.

The principle of operation of the oven is the process of transferring thermal energy to the product located in the room of the working chamber. As a heat source, heating elements are used (in the case of an electric oven) or a conventional open flame powered by natural gas. The location of the heating elements in different ovens can be different: at the bottom of the working space, at the bottom and at the top, sometimes the manufacturer also places them on the back wall.

The gas oven operates on blue fuel – natural or liquefied gas. The volume and intensity of the flame in a gas oven is manually adjusted by adjusting the fuel flow to the burner. For the safe operation of such an oven, it is important to provide a fresh supply of air.

However, in the case when your house is not connected to the central gas supply, then this option will not be relevant for you and you will consider the electric type of oven.

By the way, this also has its limitations. And they are connected with the power of the oven and the possibility of your electrical network. See for yourself: a few decades ago, our homes did not have so many electrical appliances, so the power grid may not be able to withstand a heavy load. A new electric oven with good power can have consequences in the form of wiring changes, and sometimes it is not possible to solve this problem offline.

Types of temperature heating of ovens depending on the type of model

Different dishes require different temperatures and cooking speed requirements. Accordingly, the higher the “range” of modes your “assistant” has, the more varied your lunches, breakfasts and dinners will be.

Ovens powered by electricity, with a low cost, have heating elements on top and bottom, which turn on both at once or one at a time, depending on the type of food being cooked.

More expensive electric ovens are equipped with a grill function, it allows you to make the taste of the prepared dish juicier, more interesting and brighter. Most gas appliance factories have begun to add convection capability to gas ovens, allowing the heat to be evenly distributed inside the oven and thus providing a tall, tasty, juicy dish at the exit.

If we talk about the functionality of electric and gas ovens, it should be noted that the former are undoubtedly superior to the latter. In a gas-powered oven, it is impossible to implement the defrosting function, or, say, quick heating, maintain the oven heating temperature at the desired level, provide slow languishing processes or, if necessary according to the recipe, fermentation of the product. An electric oven is capable of performing the functions of a kind of robot-cook, which, acting on the basis of the given parameters, will independently heat the dish to the desired temperature and will maintain it or vary it depending on the given recipe.

The gas oven has incomparably fewer functions, but it is also much easier to manage, which is why experienced housewives often rely on ovens of this type. It is important that the manufacturer tried to eliminate all possible inconveniences from the procedure for using a gas oven. Now you do not need to kindle the oven with a match: modern ovens have an electric ignition function.

Which oven bakes better gas or electric

The approach to answering this question is also purely individual. Some believe that there is nothing better than a dish cooked directly on an open fire, for someone the functionality of an electric oven, which provides a lot of prospects for culinary delights, is a defining moment in the matter of its acquisition. The main thing is to be able to adapt to the modes and features of your oven, and fragrant pastries or an exquisite second course will not keep you waiting long.

How to clean the oven

The oven becomes dirty during operation, this is a fact. Experts advise taking measures to clean the walls of the oven every time the cooking process is completed. More often it is easier to do this, the dirt will not have time to fix.

If you have a simple type of oven that is not equipped with additional features, you will most likely have to wash it by hand. However, this will not always be the case, today manufacturers are actively equipping new models of stoves with a special EcoClear system: the walls of the working chamber are made of bioceramics, and dirt does not stick to it, respectively, it is much easier to clean this type of oven.

More expensive ovens can be automatically cleaned using a catalytic method or pyrolysis.

What types of coolers are there?

Coolers have come a long way, and fall into two basic categories: powered coolers, like thermoelectric and compressor coolers, which offer the advantage of never needing ice to keep your food and drink chilled. They are a great option if the outdoors is your go-to, if you tend to take longer camping trips, or enjoy living off-grid or where ice may be difficult to get.

Non Powered coolers come in several varieties, including disposable ones and those built for extended adventures. A basic cooler, or camper ice box, is the least expensive and designed for casual use — like taking along cold food for an impromptu picnic. Sometimes called an ice chest, ice cooler, or insulated cool box, it doesn’t have a lot of insulation, but will work if you’re only going to be out for a few hours.

Soft-side coolers give you cooling with less weight, and they can be stored in a smaller space when not in use. They make it easy to bring food you need to keep cold along, whether you’re taking a long hike away from the campsite or simply want to have a chilled snack on hand.

But if you’re serious about getting out there, and staying out there longer, you’re more likely to opt for a hard-sided, “heavy-duty” cooler. Whether you call it a passive cooler, a portable cooler, or a portable ice chest, a heavy-duty cooler like Dometic’s Cool-Ice and Patrol series sets you apart from the more casual adventurers. Our coolers are designed for the demands of outdoor use, whether you’re heading out for a weekend, a week, or even longer!

Which cooler is right for you?

To choose the right camp cooler, consider how often you expect to use it. If you’re more of a day-tripper and only outside for a few hours at a time, a basic cooler or soft-sided cooler may be sufficient. If you take more overnight trips or want to be sure that your ice lasts as long as possible, and that your cold food stays cold, you may want the option of a heavy-duty cooler like the Cool-Ice or Patrol.

Portable cooler for boating, fishing, and hunting

We know that having a passion for boating, fishing,  and hunting and spending time in the outdoors is often connected to spending quality time with your family and friends. Our almost indestructible outdoor coolers are built to withstand the most extreme environments, and if you will be away for long periods of time, then the best ice chest is a rotomolded cooler. With specially designed modular accessories, rotomolded coolers can make your adventure easier and let you focus on catching the biggest fish rather than worrying about keeping your ice frozen. These high-end ice chests are innovated to make your fishing and hunting trip easier, with outdoor cooler accessories including a seat cushion, as well as accessories to hold your fishing rod or drink. Stay focused while we keep your ice frozen.

The ultimate outdoor coolers

Experiencing high outside temperatures, uneven terrain, dust and mud? Our insulated outdoor coolers take tough conditions in their stride. The ice boxes are equipped with extremely effective heavy-duty insulation, and once the cool packs or ice cubes have been placed inside, they will keep groceries, fish, bait and wild game fresh. Depending on use and weather conditions, ice will last for several days at a time. Every single detail of our ice boxes is designed to perform reliably in the toughest conditions.

What is the difference between an icebox and a rotomolded cooler?

A rotomolded cooler is a recognized manufacturing process that produces premium and high-end insulated portable coolers. While a simpler ice chest can keep ice for a couple of hours, the rotomolded coolers can keep ice frozen for days! The rotomolded coolers are the perfect portable coolers for those who want the best of the best, you will have the coolest drinks on your off-grid camping trip and what’s more? You will have a premium ice chest that will accompany you for years thanks to its premium, first-class quality.

Best-rated coolers – read this

As you may have noticed, we think the “best coolers” are rotationally molded coolers. This is because of the superior insulation the rotomolding technology provides. The portable refrigerators come in various sizes and will provide you with days of frozen ice. An insulation box minimizes the amount of air going in the cooler, allowing this sort of portable cooler to stay cold for a long time. The hard cool boxes are equipped with extremely effective insulation, and once the cool packs or ice cubes have been placed inside, they will keep groceries, fish, bait and wild game fresh.

What passive coolers does Dometic produce?

While there are a variety of ice boxes on the market, you want to choose the one that will make your ice last as long as possible. The Dometic Cool-Ice is constructed of thick, refrigeration-grade foam insulation and a design that helps keep cold air in and warm air out. Cool-Ice ice chests are durable, strong, and easy to clean, and can be used for watertight dry storage as well as an ice chest. A carry strap makes it easy to carry and transport from your car to the campsite.

For ice that lasts even longer, choose a Dometic Patrol. Each Patrol cooler is constructed from a single piece of rotomolded polyethylene and has thicker walls than the Cool-Ice, which means that it keeps ice even longer than the Cool-Ice. It can also double as dry storage as well, and includes features like a deep-freeze lid seal, a leak proof drain, and a rubber latch opening that can be opened with one hand.

Why choose a heavy-duty cooler?

 A heavy-duty portable ice cooler like the Cool-Ice or Patrol isn’t for everyone. But if the outdoors is your go-to when you have free time, it’s an investment in your adventures. Dometic’s coolers are built to withstand the demands of years of outdoor use, while giving you the security of knowing your ice, and everything you’re storing in your cooler, will stay cold for days. And ice that lasts sets the stage for longer adventures, no matter where you roam.

What Is an Icebox? A History Lesson

Have you ever heard your grandma refer to the freezer as the “icebox?” She didn’t coin this phrase herself—she may have actually had a legitimate icebox in her home as a kid! This was an early method of refrigeration that people utilized to keep food cold before the modern refrigerator. Learn what role the icebox played in refrigeration history and how it helped lead to modern fridges and freezers.

The Early Days of Refrigeration

It’s hard to imagine planning meals without a convenient refrigerator in your kitchen. However, for countless generations, cooking and storing food had to be done without electric refrigeration.

To preserve perishable food, especially meat, Americans in the late 1700s began storing food in pits buried in the ground with huts built above them. Known as icehouses, these pits were filled with ice harvested from nearby lakes, which they could keep frozen all summer long by using straw for insulation and stone walls to reduce heat transfer.

What is an Icebox? Purpose & Technology

While icehouses served the wealthy upper class, there became a need for the average American to have access to refrigeration in their own homes. After all, keeping food chilled was proving to be the clear choice for food preservation. It beat out other methods such as salting, drying, and canning, which are labour-intensive and eliminate all signs of freshness from the food.

Thus, by the end of the 1800s, many households began storing perishable food in iceboxes. This was typically made of wood with a tin or zinc lining packed with straw, sawdust, cork, or seaweed for insulation. A large block of ice held in a compartment or tray near the top of the icebox kept any food stored along with it chilly for a reasonable period of time.

Iceboxes ranged in price from $15 to $50, depending on their sizes and features. Cheap models had a drip pan that users had to empty daily, while fancier versions had spigots for draining melted ice into a holding tank, which could then be used for drinking. Users replenished their supply of ice by purchasing blocks from an iceman.

The Advent of the Refrigerator

The discovery and harnessing of electricity in the late 1800s opened the floodgates to all kinds of innovations, including electric refrigeration. This technology allowed perishables to be kept cold indefinitely, and at a more consistent temperature for reliable food safety.

The earliest devices initially became available in the 1910s, but it wasn’t until the late 20s that the technology became honed enough to offer an affordable, dependable means of in-home electric refrigeration. The first fridge to become widely popular was made by General Electric in 1927, which customers could purchase for $520—over $7,000 in today’s money! Thanks to discounts made available by General Electric and other manufacturers, refrigerator sales grew steadily into the Great Depression when it was unthinkable to throw away leftovers.

By 1935, the era of electric refrigeration had truly begun, and by 1944, 85 percent of American households featured a refrigerator in the kitchen. But its predecessor, the icebox, lives on in the vernacular of our grandparents—at least for one more generation.

The formation of frost inside the refrigerator compartment is a common phenomenon. Agree that defrosting the refrigerator is not a pleasant task. If you have to do this more and more often, then you should think about whether everything is in order with the refrigerator. After all, the formation of a snow coat may be the result of a malfunction of one of the refrigerator units.

WARNING
Before doing anything to the device, be sure to unplug it from the power source.
Risk of electrical shock exists.

1. The room is too warm.

Pay special attention to the temperature of the room where your appliance is located. Do not place the refrigerator in a south-facing room where it gets too hot in summer. High temperatures can prevent your refrigerator from working efficiently. If you have a refrigerator in the kitchen, we recommend that you do not place it next to the oven or radiator. The warm air you let into the refrigerator every time you open it will cause extra frost to form. Also check the climate class rating of your refrigerator. Class N refrigerators are not designed to operate at temperatures below 16°C or above 32°C.

2. The refrigerator is full.

If you fill the refrigerator completely at one time, for example when you return from the grocery store, this will indirectly cause more frost to form. If you load a large amount of warm items, condensation will form. Therefore, we recommend filling the refrigerator in stages and consulting the recommendations of the manufacturer of your refrigerator.

3. Fridge door seal damaged

If the door seal is damaged or does not sit flat and flush when the door is closed, warm air from the room where the refrigerator is located may seep in. If this happens, it will lead to frost formation. You can try cleaning the joint to see if that helps; though if it’s too worn, you’ll need to replace it.

4. Deformed refrigerator door

If the seal is in good condition and correctly located, but not tight to the refrigerator body, the door itself may be deformed. If so, you need to replace it. Although this happens very rarely.

5. The light switch does not work.

An interesting and non-obvious case was. The light switch in the refrigerator was out of order, the bulb was on all the time and generated heat inside the refrigerator when the door is closed. This results in frost formation and an incorrect temperature in the refrigerator. An easy way to check if this is happening or not is to put your smartphone in the refrigerator for a few seconds and film it with a video camera. If the resulting video shows the light staying on, you may need to replace the door switch.

6. Faulty defrost sensor or blown thermal fuse (No Frost)

In units equipped with frost protection technology, fuses (with or without a thermostat) are special components that provide thermal protection by tripping in if the defrost thermostat fails. If these fuses blow or fail, defrosting will not occur, resulting in excess frost. You can test these fuses by simply placing two multimeter probes in ohmmeter mode on their terminals. If you don’t get a reading, the bad fuse(s) probably need to be replaced.

7. Faulty defrost heater (No Frost refrigerator)

Refrigerators equipped with No Frost technology are equipped with a special heating element that serves to melt the ice formed on the evaporator. If this component is defective, excess frost will form. You can check the heater with a multimeter in ohmmeter mode. Disconnect all connectors of the element and place the meter probes on its two terminals. If it does not have continuity, it must be replaced.

8. Faulty defrost timer (in No Frost refrigerators)

The defrost timer allows you to automatically start the defrosting process of the refrigerator. If it is defective, this may lead to the formation of excess frost. You can manually start the timer until the defrost process starts, at which point you will hear a click. Wait to see if the heating element heats up, but make sure the appliance is cold enough for this to happen. If the heating element does not heat up, the problem is likely either with the timer or with the element itself.

9. Damper stuck open.

Refrigerator-freezers equipped with No Frost technology will turn on the freezer fan and open the damper each time the refrigerator compartment needs additional cooling, allowing cool air to enter the refrigerator compartment. When the desired temperature is reached, the damper closes again. If the damper is left open for any reason, warm air from the refrigerator section of the appliance will enter the evaporator, causing excess frost to form. If access allows, you can check the damper yourself. Remove any covers, etc. so you can visually check this, then turn the thermostat on the refrigerator to high and wait for the motor and fan to start running. If the damper closes when you open the door and opens when you close it, everything is working fine.

10. Sensor damaged.

The sensors on the refrigerator and freezer are used to read the temperature in different compartments. They also serve to switch off the heating elements at the end of the defrost cycle (only for appliances with frost protection). If any of them are faulty, this can lead to excessive frost formation. You can test them using a multimeter in ohmmeter mode to measure what they give.

11. Fridge thermostat defective

If the thermostat is defective, it will no longer be able to control the temperature in your refrigerator. This can cause your appliance to run continuously and become too cold. To check if the refrigerator thermostat is working properly, place the end of the thermostat probe in a glass of very cold water with ice cubes and adjust the thermostat setting using the dial. If you can’t get it to turn on, you’ll probably need to replace it. You can also test the thermostat by testing it for continuity either on or off with a multimeter in ohmmeter mode.

12. Compressor not working properly

If the compressor is not working properly, it will have difficulty circulating coolant, which may indirectly cause excessive frost to form. If the compressor is defective, you will need to have it replaced by a professional.

13. Refrigerant does not circulate.

Engine oil can sometimes get into the coolant circuit, which can cause clogging. This can indirectly cause excess frost to form. Excessive frost can also form if any refrigerant gas (in liquid form) leaves the refrigeration circuit.

              Credit: Samsung

              Pros
              • Large capacity for its size
              • Wi-Fi enabled
              • Flex zone and other useful features, including external water and ice dispensing
              Cons
              • Less professional-looking design than other options

              We were blown away by all the features of the Samsung Family Hub while testing standalone models for our best fridges roundup, and that same tech is part of this unique four-door built-in model. You can use the large touch screen on the top-right door to leave messages, to stream music or TV while you’re cooking and to sync with compatible smart devices (like Google Nest) to check the view at your front door or adjust your thermostat. You can also check the contents of the fridge from your phone and use the screen to browse recipes and order groceries. Altogether, this model has the most useful smart features we’ve found in a built-in fridge.

              While we have not tested this model, our previous tests of Samsung fridges confirm that the brand excels at maintaining steady temperatures, which is essential for keeping foods fresh. This fridge is available in both full and counter depths (the counter depth option is what you want if you’re going for a seamless look). It has two top fridge zones, one bottom freezer zone and one flex zone that can be either fridge of freezer, depending on your needs.

                      Built-in refrigerators

                      The refrigerator is one of the most important household appliances. It is almost impossible to do without it, because the question is not whether to buy or not, but which specific model to choose. Moreover, the problem of choice lies precisely in diversity. Free-standing units are represented on the market by a wide range of models, but they do not always fit into the intended interior. For such cases, a refrigerator built into the kitchen will serve as an alternative to the usual solution.
                      The purchase of a built-in refrigerator is, first of all, beneficial in terms of saving kitchen space.

                      Types of built-in refrigerators:

                      • single-chamber, i.e. without freezer;
                      • two-chamber, i.e. with refrigerator and freezer;
                      • wine.

                      Built-in refrigerators without a freezer

                      Built-in refrigerator without a freezer is useful when space is limited. But, despite the size, the capacity of such models ranges from 50 to 500 liters. Single-chamber has its own category of buyers. Basically, such refrigerators are bought for use in summer cottages, offices, camp sites, hospitals and hotels. In houses and apartments, such devices are bought by people who eat only exceptionally fresh food, without freezing, or as an additional cooling unit, especially when there is a separate freezer. Often placed in the bedroom to store soft drinks. Advantages of such models:

                      1. sufficient number of shelves and drawers even with small volume;
                      2. affordability;
                      3. quietness;
                      4. the ability to reinstall the door on the other side;
                      5. voltage drop control;
                      6. ease of transport.

                      Built-in Refrigerator without Freezer – ideal solution for a small kitchen

                      Two-compartment built-in models

                      But for families with several people, two-compartment built-in refrigerators are an option. The dimensions of the built-in refrigerator are proportional to the size of the family. A distinctive feature of such a refrigerator is the presence of two separate chambers, each of which has its own temperature regime. For convenience, the freezer is located at the top and at the bottom of the unit. If a stock of freshly frozen vegetables, fruits and berries is made for the cold season, a unit with a freezer is purchased. Built-in freezer will take its rightful place in the design of the kitchen.

                      Progress does not stand still. The result was the appearance in modern refrigeration units of a “zero chamber”, sometimes referred to as a “freshness zone”. The invention belongs to Liebherr specialists. The temperature regime of this zone slows down the reproduction of microorganisms in products. Vegetables, fruits, herbs, fish and meat are stored here. When choosing a two-chamber refrigerator, you should pay attention to the following parameters:

                      • control type – electromechanical or electronic. The first option is more reliable, the second is more comfortable;
                      • defrost function – “No frost”, drip and manual defrost;
                      • energy class – class A ++ refrigerators are considered the most economical, but such models are much more expensive, so when buying, the commensurability of energy costs and prices is taken into account;
                      • functionality. This category includes parameters that are key for each individual customer – energy consumption class, type of defrosting, capacity, compliance with the design of this room, etc.;
                      • price. Built-in appliances, although they do not require separate design costs, cost the owner more than stationary models, since an individual approach is valued more than consumer goods.

                      Two-compartment built-in refrigerator has two compartments, each with its own temperature regime

                      If your requests go beyond mass consumption and you want an exclusive product, be prepared to pay more. In stores, the price of similar models of built-in and freestanding appliances is approximately the same, but built-in devices require additional installation costs and special furniture. What, of course, is compensated by an individual approach.

                      Wine Coolers

                      Storing wine is a complex process. Of course, not everyone can afford a wine cellar. For gourmets living in standard apartments, wine coolers replace the cellar. In order to save space, they use built-in models that fit perfectly into the interior. They can be hidden in furniture, placed at eye level or under the countertop. Shelves for wine can have different temperatures within the same refrigerator. A distinctive feature of built-in models ─ ventilation is arranged on the outside.

                      How to install?

                      Fitting a refrigerator into a cupboard on your own for a person who is friendly with tools is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. If there is a desire, the necessary materials and tools that every self-respecting man has, the installation can even become an interesting quest. After making sure that the house has the necessary supply of furniture handles, awnings, get to work.

                      If you find it difficult to install a refrigerator yourself, you can always use the services of a home master on call

                      If the instructions and materials needed to build the box are at hand, making a refrigerator cabinet with your own hands is not difficult. To embed a refrigerator in a cabinet specially made for it, you must first:

                      • take measurements to determine the dimensions of the facades;
                      • make a drawing. For air flow, a sufficient allowance for the top and each side of the future cabinet for the built-in refrigerator is taken into account. Plan shelves and partitions in advance;
                      • saw the elements with a jigsaw or cut them in a special furniture store. Fasten with furniture screws;
                      • cut openings in the bowl tray, top and bottom shelves to allow air circulation and prevent overheating. Strengthen the back wall with several jumpers for greater strength;
                      • make a small podium for the structure;
                      • drill a hole in the side wall of the cabinet for the power cord. Check the installation, referring to the indications of the building level. Put the cabinet in the place allotted for it;
                      • insert the refrigerator into the cabinet;
                      • connect the doors of the cabinet and built-in refrigerator using the pantograph system;
                      • adjust the box door;
                      • to mask the visible sections of the slabs.

                      Tip! It is more rational to equip a box made of wooden canvas with a skid hinge system, in which the cabinet and refrigerator doors each have their own hinges, evenly distributing the load.

                      Built-in refrigerator

                      Experts categorically do not recommend integrating ordinary refrigerators into kitchen furniture in order to avoid shortening their service life. But it happens that the purchase of new equipment is not planned, and there is always a need to effectively organize the kitchen space.

                      There are two options for integrating a conventional refrigerator into kitchen furniture. First, make a special niche for the refrigerator without hiding the facade. The second option ─ we make a cabinet for a built-in refrigerator according to the previous instructions, but taking into account some points:

                      • a cabinet for installing a conventional refrigerator must be without a bottom, which leads to fragility and unreliability of the structure;
                      • it should be much deeper and wider than for the built-in model;
                      • a refrigerator built into kitchen furniture in this way will have at least four doors, or even all six.

                      Built-in refrigerators have much in common with conventional refrigerators. Both consist of one or two chambers. Defrost systems identical:

                      • drip;
                      • nofrost;
                      • semi-automatic.

                      Free-standing and built-in refrigerators have the same energy efficiency class. But there are a number of differences, the main among which are the design and method of installation.

                      Due to its design features, the built-in refrigerator will fit perfectly into any kitchen design. The process of installing such a model is quite simple. You just need to level the legs and insert the plug into the outlet. With refrigerators built into kitchen furniture, this is a little more complicated. But the list of advantages allows you to close your eyes to minor disadvantages:

                      • when choosing such a refrigerator, you can not worry about the color and design of the body;
                      • will not have to worry about the surface being scratched during transportation or installation of this model, because no defects will be visible behind the panels;
                      • decorative panels contribute to sound insulation.

                      Built-in refrigerators are somewhat more expensive, which can be explained by the complexity of installation. More and more manufacturers are producing free-standing refrigerators and their built-in counterparts, which are completely the same in function. The market presents not only elite models of built-in refrigerators, but also budget ones. This will be discussed in a short review.

                      Features of built-in models

                      Today, in household appliances stores, you can choose a built-in refrigerator for every taste and budget.

                      Among the most popular built-in refrigerators without a freezer, consider the following:

                      • BOSCH KUR 15A50. Pluses: economy, low noise during operation, drip freezing system, antibacterial surface protection. There are not so many disadvantages of this model: the doors are loosely attached, there is no compartment for storing bottles;
                      • Whirlpool ARC 103 AP – with small dimensions, it will satisfy the needs of the most demanding customer. Here is the “sixth sense” technology, and 7 thermostat positions, drawers for vegetables and fruits, a temperature preservation function;
                      • budget model is presented by Zanussi ZRG11600WA. At an affordable price, this refrigerator has the same qualities as the more expensive representatives in this segment: low noise level, the possibility of reversing the door, equipped with shelves for storing bottles;
                      • , among the two-chamber built-in refrigerators, the refrigerator of the German company Liebherr ICBS 3156 with a volume of 260 liters stands out with the following characteristics: energy consumption class ─ A +, electronic control system, keeping cold during a power outage up to 32 hours, automatic defrosting;
                      • does not lag behind in quality the cheaper two-chamber built-in refrigerator Hotpoint-Ariston CIS BCB 333/B GE. The disadvantages of this model include only the energy class. Among the pluses are the antibacterial coating of the inside of the refrigerator, the function of cooling champagne, the mode of quick freezing of products;
                      • Electrolux ERN 29850 has reversible doors, shelves that can withstand up to 25 kg of weight, intensive cooling mode. Does not need defrosting;
                      • among wine refrigerators, or, as they are sometimes called, cabinets, the attention of the buyer is attracted by Liebherr WTI 2050. Features of this model: 2 temperature zones, six shelves for wine, compact dimensions with sufficient capacity.
                      • cannot be ignored by MIELE KWT6321UG. Such a refrigerator, due to its compactness, will easily fit under the countertop. It is calculated on simultaneous storage of 34 bottles of wine. The material of the door, the position of which can be changed, is tinted glass;
                      • closes the review of the Dunavox DX-16.46K refrigerator. Small size holds 16 bottles of wine. The classic black case adds to the presentation.

                      Today, manufacturers offer a wide range of built-in household appliances, you just have to choose the model that will fully satisfy your needs. These are built-in refrigerators.

    Best Cable Organizers 2022 | The Strategist

    Modern tech would have us believe that a fully wireless, cable-free future is near — but even if most of your gadgets and gizmos are technically wireless, it doesn’t take much for a nasty batch of cables and cords to pop up like weeds in the spring. One surge protector here, two HDMI cables there, a bunch of chargers and a few lightning cables later, and before you know it, you’re sitting in a forest of tangled cables or something out of The Matrix. I know the experience all too well; I’ve tested speakers, monitors, headphones, and all kinds of other tech products, and I’d be lost without cable organizers to tame my office. Whether you’re trying to reorganize your WFH setup or declutter the space behind your entertainment center, these small yet handy products can make a big impact. To find the best ones available, we spoke to TikTok tech experts, tech specialists, and writers about the cable organizers they recommend.

    Best overall | Best zip-tie multipack | Best cable clips | Best cable-organizer bag | Best cable rack | Best heavy-duty Velcro tie | Best desk skirt | Best leather | Best cable ties for your nightstand

    Storage type and design: Before you can wrangle your cables into order, you’ll need to pick the best tools for your situation. Options like straightforward Velcro strips or zip ties can bunch unruly cables together without breaking the bank, or you can snag something a little fancier like a set of clips to keep important cables handy under your desk, or a cable bag to keep everything tidy while you’re traveling. You can also get a rack to mount under your desk or other furniture to hide cables that might clash with your room’s whole vibe.

    Capacity: Some organizers work for only single cables or even single specific-size cables, while others can be adjusted to accommodate multiple cables of various sizes.

    Stationary vs. portable: Organizers that are attached (whether by adhesive or clamps or some other mounting method) are meant to be stationary, while ties and bags are great for travel or home use.

    Single-use, permanent, or reusable: Zip ties and clips that attach using adhesive can realistically only be used once (and if you’re concerned about the adhesive damaging the surface you want to use, you may want to consider an alternative). Some desk-mounted organizers, like the two listed below, require you to drill holes to attach the rack or organizer permanently. Velcro and wire ties and, of course, bags are meant to be reused.

    Velcro Brand One Wrap Cable Ties (100-Pack)

    $12

    Velcro tie | Holds multiple cables, adjustable | Stationary or portable | Reusable

    Velcro cable ties are one of the most adaptable, useful, and inexpensive cable organizers available. I’ve used them for years, whether to keep lightning cables and camera cables neatly wrapped or to bundle smaller items like pens and pencils. The adjustable and reusable ties are eight inches long and can fit a variety of different-size cables; one tie can easily hold three USB-C cables or a combination of a USB-C cable and an HDMI or an ethernet cable. They also have a sliding design, which allows you to tighten them very easily. This pack comes with 100 ties, which is extremely useful if you need them in different spaces around your home.

The ties are seven inches long and ¾-inch wide — about a quarter inch wider than our best overall pick — making them a bit more durable and well suited for organizing heavier cables. They lack the pull-through tightening design but are still adjustable. They also come in several colors beyond the typical black, including pink, green, red, purple, and blue, in case you’d like to color-code your cables or add some flair to your organizational game.

    A tidy nightstand is just as important as a neat workstation; nobody likes fumbling through a jumbled mess right before bed or first thing in the morning. Strategist writer Kitty Guo praises the Nite Ize ties for their flexibility, thanks to a steel-wire interior and a grippy rubber exterior, as well as the various color and length options. As a bonus, she says, they’re the ultimate fidget toy: far superior to any spinner, popper, or other gewgaw that’s expressly intended to keep your hands busy.

    This Ruggard cable case was recommended to us by B&H senior technologist Mark Steinberg. One of the more interesting details he pointed out is the clear window that allows you easily identify any cable you might need while on the go. The case is weather resistant, and one side has 12 dedicated cable slots with elastic loops to hold cables securely. (You can store additional or larger cables in the pocket on the other side.) The Ruggard comes with six Velcro cable ties for keeping cables wrapped while in the case. And if you like the design but don’t need to carry as much, it comes in a smaller size that has six dedicated cable slots with three Velcro ties.

    Pearstone 8” Plastic Cable Ties (100-Pack)

    $2

    Plastic zip ties | Holds multiple cables, adjustable | Stationary | Single-use

    Zip ties can be especially great for larger cables that you might have in the living room or in a basic sound-system setup. My plan of attack when using zip ties is to coordinate which cables go into which devices. Television cables all sorted, check. Audio cables sorted, check. Once you have the cables bunched together, zip-tie them up and you’re good to go. Velcro is a little more forgiving; you can easily detach and readjust a Velcro cable tie, but zip ties, while adjustable, tighten in only one direction and are a little harder to remove. I also like to use a small piece of masking tape to label which cables are for which device. Because zip ties require some work to unlock (and sometimes you’ll just have to cut them off), I recommend them strictly for stationary situations. They can also be used as a good cable-storage option; you can pack away cables in a box with the zip ties keeping them coiled so they are easy to identify and reuse. All of the zip ties in this pack of 100 are eight inches long, and you can trim any extra length as needed. They come in black or clear, so you can match them to your cables if you like.

This package includes nine clips, and each one holds a single cable. The clips are best for stationary situations like a home office — you can place them on the edge of your desk closest to a power outlet where you might have a laptop charger or iPhone charger plugged in, and this clip will hold the cable so it doesn’t slide off the top of the desk.

    Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk uses these TopHome leather cable organizers in his home office. “It’s so smart looking, and everyone has cords hanging all over the place, so this is a great way to organize them that still looks chic,” says Berk. The TopHome holds up to six thin cables, and you can stick the leather clip to the side of your desk using the included adhesive. You can also order a three-pack of single clips that each hold just one cable. They come in three different leather colors, but “I’m really into this kind of desert color right now, and the leather I think looks really expensive for this type of item instead of using one that’s plastic,” Berk says. “It shows interest in your space and makes it unique without a bunch of pattern and color bombarding you. In addition to your home office, I’d also recommend everyone get one for the kitchen.”

    Tony Ow, a TikTok creator who goes by TonyTechBytes, and Abhishek Mishra, a TikTok creator who goes by Dose of Tech, recommend the Ikea Signum cable rack. “The Signum screws on underneath your desk and is large enough to fit multiple power strips,” says Mishra. “The best thing about it is you can zip-tie the cables to each individual piece of metal, making cable management a breeze.” Ow says the Signum is easy to install and likes that “you can secure it to the bottom of a table top with screws and throw all your cables onto it. I love using it for a no-frills cable management solution.” The wire design allows for airflow so nothing overheats — just note that the cables are still visible within the rack, so they won’t be completely hidden.

    Rack | Holds multiple cables | Stationary | Permanent (‎20.75” x 4.75” x 2”)

    Sean Hollister, senior news editor at the Verge, says he used to have a rats’ nest of wires under his desk, and he tried a number of cord keepers and wraps before landing on the Mount-It. “These privacy panels have built-in pockets for cables,” he says. The large mesh pockets open and close with Velcro strips, so everything inside is easy to access, and cables can enter or exit the pockets in multiple directions. Hollister uses them to hide a lot of mess as well as his ethernet switch. You can choose between 41-inch or 60-inch widths, depending on the size of your space.

    A good wire holder is the icing on the cake for a professional gamer’s workspace. As of today, modern manufacturers provide the user with an incredibly wide selection of not only gaming devices, but also accessories for them. The wire holder for your mouse, keyboard and headset allows you not only to keep your workplace in order on an ongoing basis, which is very important when working at a computer for a long time, but also to maintain the integrity of the wires for your devices, which will allow you to significantly increase the life of all your devices, and insure the wires from accidental, unplanned chafing.

    When choosing a wire holder, you should pay attention to the design of the device. Even if you prioritize functionality, the device can remain stylish and modern and be a great addition to your personal computer or laptop. The gaming industry is constantly evolving, which means that along with new games, new devices are also released in order to make the gaming process more comfortable and exciting. A simple conclusion suggests itself, which also happens with accessories.

    Rest assured, with a good wire holder, each of your precious gaming accessories will stay safe and sound. For example, by simply fixing the cable of your wired mouse to the desired length in the holder, you get not only the ability to freely move the mouse over a fairly large area, but also, due to the fact that the movement of the wire is limited, avoid “phantom”, unplanned movements during an important game process. Your cable will always be in its original condition and will not fray, for example, on the corner of a table.

    Many players are interested in how devices can hold the wire? It turns out that the manufacturer makes the base especially strong, while placing a weighted center in it. It is also worth noting the presence of non-slip feet, which also contribute to the reliable fastening of the wire. This design will allow you not to worry about the wire and focus on achieving your goals in the game.

    Remember that the space on the desktop is limited, so it is desirable to keep it in order.

    1. Using laptops or power banks may draw too much power. And the USB port on most tablets does not generate enough power, so it is recommended to use a wall plug which is NOT Included in the package. Please purchase separately.
    2. If the light cannot be turned on and the indicator on the controller starts blinking blue, it means the input voltage exceeds 5V. To make the light work properly, please choose the right voltage.

    Good But Could Use a Tweak

    I’m pretty happy with the performance of this USB-powered LED Light Bar on my TV. However, the power cord needs to be at least 50% longer because the locations of USB ports on TVs vary quite a bit and the included cord is barely long enough for my TV. Other users might not be so lucky. Also consider offering a USB Type C connector on the power cord to accommodate newer TVs.

    Nice but needs a dimmer.

    Performs largely as claimed

    Have been using the Light Bar since receiving and like what it does to reduce eye strain. Only wish is that it was dimmable to dully optimize effect of color and distance of wall behind the monitor.

    Very happy with 3000k 12” & 24”

     Very happy with the 3000k warm glow.

    Nice!

    I bought this becuase my keyboard is illuminated, but does not illuminate until you hit a key and I never knew where to hit so I put the light above the keyboard, nice bright light good secure wiring. Overall a 5 star piece of desk equipment. Will buy more for under cabinet lighting soon.

    Gift Cards & Certificates for Gamers

    How do I check my gift card or PowerUp Rewards™ card balance?

    To check the balance on a gift card or trade credit card, you will need the card number as well as the PIN. Both numbers are located on the back of your gift card or PowerUp Rewards™ Card. For digital gift certificates, you can find the card number and PIN in the email that was delivered to you. Enter your card number and PIN on the Balance Inquiry page to check your available balance.

    What can I use my gift card on?

    Gift cards, digital gift certificates, trade credit and PowerUp Rewards™ cards containing store credit can only be redeemed in the U.S.at GameStop.com and GameStop store locations. Your gift card cannot be used to purchase other GameStop gift cards or any other 3rd Party currency that GameStop sells (PlayStation Network Cards or other retailers). All other products are available to purchase.

    Can I use my ThinkGeek gift card at GameStop stores and Gamestop.

    com?

    Yes, ThinkGeek gift cards can be used just like a GameStop gift card at GameStop stores or online.

    How do I get a replacement gift card?

    A gift card is like cash. If lost or stolen, it cannot be replaced without the original sales receipt or a receipt from a transaction the card was used on. These receipts will have the card’s account number and the amount on the card. For online transactions, you can use a printout of the order confirmation that the card was used on. In either case, a store associate will contact our Document Control Department with that information so the amount can be transferred to a new card.

    Do gift cards ever expire?

    There is no expiration date for GameStop gift cards.

    Can I exchange my gift card for cash?

    Unfortunately, GameStop gift cards, trade cards and PowerUp Rewards™ cards cannot be refunded or redeemed for cash (as stated on the back of the card) except where required by law.

    How do I get a GameStop Gift Card?

    Physical gift cards are sold on GameStop. com and in US GameStop stores. If ordered from GameStop.com, physical gift cards are delivered via First Class U.S. Mail within one to two weeks. Digital gift certificates are sold on GameStop.com and can be redeemed online at GameStop.com or redeemed in US GameStop stores. Digital gift certificates are delivered via email within 48 hours of processing (excluding major holidays), and can also include a gift message.

    How do I redeem my store credit online?

    Just enter the card or account number and PIN on the payment page during the checkout process. To use your gift card, trade credit, or PowerUp Rewards™ card online, it must have a scratch-off PIN. This PIN is located on the back of eligible gift cards. If your gift card does not have a four-digit PIN along with the 19-digit Gift Card number, you can only use the gift card at a GameStop store. The digital gift certificate number and PIN can be found in the email sent to the recipient.

    What Are the Best Gift Cards for Gamers?

    While you’ll want to know what type of console your child uses (Playstation vs. Xbox), any of these gift card ideas below are sure to impress kids of all ages. Gaming gifts are always on-trend, and they’re a universal hit.

    Playstation or Xbox gift card code

    In the gaming world, a $100 Xbox gift card code or Playstation gift card code goes a long way. Best Entertainment Gift Cards in 2021

    What Makes an Entertainment Gift Card a Great Gift

    Choosing a gift for a holiday or birthday can be a nerve-wracking process. Gift cards can be a better alternative to simply handing out cash like grandma always does, but allowing the person to get what they like.

    There are many other reasons why gift cards make a great gift, but today we’ll look at 4 reasons why entertainment gift cards are the best gift for any occasion:

    • Freedom of choice

    Finding gifts is very difficult because we always want to give people the gifts they need and like. With entertainment gift cards, you give them the freedom to choose whether they can use the gift card for a movie they’ve always wanted to see or save it for a future movie. The recipient will be satisfied with their choice, and so will you.

    • Convenience

    Finding the perfect gift is not easy, except for an entertainment gift card. Given what has been happening in the world over the past year, people want to spend more time with family and friends. A Netflix eGift card or a Hulu gift card is not only convenient to buy, but also easy to use.

    Many stores often provide points, CashBack or other benefits to buy gift cards for someone else. This makes it a great way to make money for the person receiving the gift.

    • Easy to redeem

    Unlike receiving a gift and taking the time to return it, using a gift card is very simple. Offline cards and vouchers must be redeemed in the store, while online cards and coupons can be redeemed in a few clicks.

    Why are e-gift cards a better option than regular gift cards?

    For a long time, physical gift cards were the norm in the market. However, with the advent of eGift cards, many retailers have switched to selling eGift cards, and more customers are choosing eGift cards over traditional physical gift cards.

    Here are some of the reasons why eGift cards are better than physical gift cards:

    You won’t lose them.

    Like anything else we need to carry around, physical gift cards can get lost. Not only can you lose them quickly, but it’s also easy to forget them in a drawer or jacket until they expire. This is not the case with eGift cards, you don’t need to carry them around and they can be quickly accessed when you need them.

    You can customize them

    With eGift cards, you can decorate your card with a photo or design of your choice. This is a feature that is very hard to find with physical gift cards. This doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but setting up a physical gift card will be more expensive than setting up an online gift card.

    They are instant

    One of the main reasons eGift cards are better than regular cards is simply the speed at which you can redeem them. With a physical card, you will have to go to a land-based store to use the physical gift card. Online gift cards can be redeemed quickly from the comfort of your home on your computer or mobile device.

    They are environmentally friendly

    Most physical gift cards are made from the same material as debit cards, which are plastic. Plastic is a huge environmental problem for the whole world. So choosing an online gift card is environmentally friendly, and you can gift one knowing you’re not contributing to the world’s already massive plastic pollution.

    Where to get the best music, movie and game gift cards

    So, whether you want to gift fantastic music, watch an amazing movie or TV show, or get lost in an exciting game, entertainment gift cards have you covered. So where do you get the best entertainment cards? Well, you can go to your local grocery or e-commerce store like Walmart and Best Buy if you want to get a physical entertainment card. If you’re looking to buy eGift cards, Amazon is a great place to start looking. If you are looking for a specific gift card, you can visit the company’s website and you will have information on where and how to get it.

    What are the pros and cons of gift cards?

    Pros Cons
    + Easy to buy and use.
    + Budget under control.
    + Since time for shopping is limited, you have many options.
    + Discounts.
    – This may look like an impersonal gift.
    – Expiry date. Vouchers are subject to time limits.
    – Gift cards are often suitable for specific stores.
    – Not refundable.

    Conclusion

    Above we have detailed a range of the best entertainment gift cards that will make the day of everyone who receives them. Treat yourself to some fun this holiday season with any of the gift cards mentioned above.

    These are the best cheap gift ideas for gamers

    Getting a good gift is always difficult, but getting a good and cheap gift for gamers is not an easy task for those who are not gamers themselves.
    Unless the gift is for the boyfriend or gamer friend you live with, you won’t be able to see their entire catalog of games to find out what they like best. And even if you find a game they don’t already have, there’s no guarantee they’ll actually play it.

    While something like a new controller might seem like a good idea, they probably have no real reason to abandon a controller they already use. When it comes to a mouse, headset, or hardware, the only surefire way to turn it into a gift that they will use and enjoy is by spending a lot more money than what would be considered “cheap”. So what should a person do when he wants to give a player in his life a good gift without going broke?
    Don’t worry. There are some good cheap gift options that will delight the gamers in your life.

    Great Cheap Gifts for Gamers

    With these gifts, we’re looking at options that are guaranteed to be useful or usable by the vast majority of gamers. Some of them fall into gift card territory, but are still unique and guaranteed to be useful to the recipient. There are also some hardware options that they are unlikely to own, but it might be worth double-checking before making a purchase.
    There are many options, some of which are increasing in price, so if you’re unsure of an exact recommendation, there’s no reason why you can’t splurge on a more expensive alternative. Here are the best cheap gifts for gamers.

    Gift Cards for Digital Game Stores

    Gift cards may seem like a universal gift, but they are guaranteed to please any gamer. While a physical copy of a game is always great, players can purchase a digital copy of just about any game using these gift cards. Each console has its own digital store, similar to the Google Play Store on Android mobile devices and the Apple App Store on iPhones.
    It’s worth noting that you need to know what specific console they’re playing on. The good news is that if you know and give them one of these gift cards, you can be sure that they will be able to use it.
    Steam Gift Card
    If the person you’re buying gifts for is primarily a PC gamer, it’s best to give them a Steam Gift Card. Steam is a digital store used for PC games that includes a huge number of games and has a huge user base. A huge number of PC gamers use Steam or will be able to use this gift card in one way or another. The only problem is that they are not sold by digital retailers, so you will have to head to a physical store to buy them.

    Gift Ideas for Play Equipment

    A card containing something nice is a great gift, but there’s something to be said for a real holiday gift box. There are many options, but if you want something that is definitely useful and that probably doesn’t belong to a gamer in your life, your options may seem limited. But we have found some great gaming gift ideas that should help you out.
    Headphone stand under the table
    Headphones are essential for most online games, whether on PC or consoles. The fact is that most people do not have a special place to store headphones, and if they do, it is unlikely to be convenient. This can be fixed with a dedicated headphone stand.

    FAQ New

    No, VOLTA magnetic products such as our cables and adapters will never damage your phone. The magnetic strength is just enough to offer a strong connection but not strong enough to damage your phone, you have nothing to worry about! On a side note, it’s recommended that our cables are used with the laptop’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) USB C power Brick to ensure best results.

    The connector tip will stay perfectly steady in your device’s port for any general day to day usage. However, for your convenience, we provide a tip remover for every cable set ordered.

    When it comes to the uniqueness of our design, the VOLTA Cable features 2 perfectly aligned N52-grade Neodymium reversible magnets in a 360° orientation – at the magnetic end of the cable – which means powerful connection, instantly! We also designed the VOLTA cable to provide hassle-free charging for all your USB Type C (Android/Universal), Lightning (Apple) and Micro USB (Android/Universal) devices. This means, ONE VOLTA cable will connect you to almost every device out there! We also offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on all VOLTA products! We invite you to view our reviews on our website and to search for reviews of VOLTA Charger on Youtube to see what others are saying about VOLTA!

    VOLTA products are not MFI certified. However, the VOLTA cable works and syncs perfectly with all Apple products and does not inflict damage to Apple products. All VOLTA products have embedded smart chips that allows them to support tethering and syncs effortlessly with iTunes.

    No, tips are only available in pairs or mixed sets of three different tips.

    We have tested this by putting the device in water for 30 mins. After taking it out the device still functioned along with the tip being fully intact. Although it’s possible that water under unusual circumstance can be trapped within the tip causing corrosion nevertheless this shouldn’t affect the device’s ability to be waterproof/resistant. However after taking the device out of water be sure to thoroughly dry the tip before charging otherwise you could cause damage to your VOLTA tip.

    Please read carefully through our “Product Care” page, most issues would be resolved through the steps and information provided on this page. Still have issues? Send us an e-mail – [email protected]

    This is often not an issue with the magnetic tip, but rather your devices charging port is most likely worn out. When using a traditional cable you have to insert it in and out of your device(s) port countless times every year, this causes the port to stretch or even damaged in some cases. The good news however is that there is a solution, all you need to do is to remove it in an angle, not straight off the device. Another great thing is when you get a new device next time, by using a VOLTA magnetic product you won’t ever damage your ports again.

    All VOLTA 2.0 products and their tips are cross compatibility with other products in the VOLTA 2.0 product range. However other devices outside of this range are not and have different tips to the VOLTA 2.0 range.

    Yes, existing cables on our website supports DATA TRANSFER 2. 0, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

    The VOLTA Blink comes with 1x VOLTA Blink Station, 4x VOLTA Blink Capsule, 3x Magnetic tips (Micro-USB, USB-C, and Lightning), and 1x 0.5 Meter VOLTA 2.0 Cable. The mainframe power bank has 8000mAh/pcs while the individual power bank has 1200 mAh/pcs

    We will have new wall chargers with AU plugs very soon.

    No. They are not designed to work with devices that are using Power Delivery technology. It might work for some but you might experience inconsistencies. We recommend that you order the VOLTA Spark for Power Delivery devices.

    USB C cables are using Power Delivery technology that our Magnetic Adapter does not support. Only USB A cables can work with it.

    Newer Apple iPads with USB-C ports are using the Power Delivery Technology in charging. The VOLTA 2.0 Cables are not compatible with Power Delivery. You will need a VOLTA Spark for newer Apple iPads with USB-C ports.

    The 7 best magnetic charging cables

    Whether you’re looking to limit wear and tear to your charging ports or just want an easy way to snap charging cords into place, the best magnetic charging cables come with a variety of connectors. As you shop, consider the cord length that’ll best suit your needs. You’ll also come across handy features like rotating hinges for optimal charging angles.

    What to consider when choosing magnetic charging cables

    First, consider the kinds of charging connectors (or tips) your devices require. Magnetic charging cables come with a variety of USB-C, micro USB, and Lightning connectors, but they vary in how many they offer, so your choice depends on how many different connectors you need. Additionally, many magnetic charging cable packs include cords of varying lengths, so you can use shorter ones on your desk and longer ones while you Netflix and chill.

    Some other features to consider include whether the cable is capable of quick charging (which requires an output above 5 volts and 2.4 amperes) and if it offers flexibility in the charging angle of the cable — especially convenient when you’d like to use your phone or device while charging. Most magnetic charging cables have 360-degree rotating connections; however, only some have hinged heads that allow for an L-shaped attachment to your device, so you can use it in landscape mode while it charges. Finally, many of these charging cables come with LED light indicators that make them easier to find in the dark, and there’s a variety of cable colors to choose from.

    1. A 6-pack with 12 connectors for under $20

    Amazon

    Terasako Magnetic Charging Cable (6-Pack)

    $19

    This six-pack of magnetic charging cables includes five standard 360-degree rotating cables and one L-shaped connector so you can more comfortably use your device while it’s charging. The wires are housed in a durable aluminum and braided nylon cable, and each one has an LED light ring around the end for easy access in the dark. You’ll get a variety of cable lengths ranging from 1 to 10 feet, plus 12 connectors, including micro USB, Lightning, and USB-C for all of your devices. The cords boast a maximum output of 5V/2.4A, which is well-suited for most phones and other devices, but they are not capable of fast charging.

    A helpful review: “These magnetic charging cords are amazing! I can’t believe how easy it is to charge my phone! I used to go through a charge cord a month, with the charging port plug-in wearing out. I have had these for several months now and still going strong! You leave the magnetic piece in your charging port for ease of charging, then just attach the cord when you need to charge. I have one cord in my room, and one in my car, and my husband has one in his office and car as well. My kids all have ones in their rooms as well. Many different charing port styles for different phones. Best purchase this year!! If these ever wear out, we will definitely buy again!”

    Cables: 1 x 1 foot, 2 x 3 feet, 2 x 6 feet, 1 x 10 feet | Connectors: 4 USB-C, 4 micro USB, and 4 Lightning | Charging end: USB-A | Output: 5V/2.4A

    2. This 4-pack of fast-charging cables

    Amazon

    A.S. Magnetic Charging Cables (4-Pack)

    $24

    With a maximum output of 5V/3A, these magnetic charging cables support quick charging and data transfer for your devices. They’re available in either purple or black and feature two 3.3-foot cables and two 6.6-foot cables as well as three USB-C tips, three micro USB tips, and three Lightning tips. Two of the cables feature standard rotating heads, while the other two cables have hinged heads for the option to charge at a 90-degree angle. Each of these cables has a blue LED ring around the top and features overheat protection to keep your devices safe. Plus, a 12-month warranty is also included.

    A helpful review: “love these cords. They are so versatile as I can use the same cord for my Kindle, iPad, and Samsung phone all having different charging ports. They are also great for vehicles as some cords when plugged in block buttons or dials. With these you swivel the cord and route it a different way, then grab your phone and go not worrying about unplugging. I have 2 sets of these and absolutely love them.”

    Cables: 2 x 3.3 feet, 2 x 6.6 feet | Connectors: 3 USB-C, 3 micro USB, and 3 Lightning | Charging end: USB-A | Output: 5V/3A

    3. A set with USB-C to USB-C cables

    Amazon

    CAFELE Magnetic USB-C cables (2-Pack)

    $18

    If you’re looking for the best magnetic USB-C cables, check out this set that supports quick charging with 20V/3A output. The two 4-foot cables can charge your MacBook, Samsung Galaxy/Note, iPad Pro, Nintendo Switch, and other devices with USB-C charging ports. However, they don’t feature a 90-degree charging connection like some other magnetic chargers do. These cables use a USB-C wall charger for power (the brand recommends using the one that came with your device), and a 12-month warranty is included. Color options include gray and blue.

    A helpful review: “The cables are very [sturdy] and flexible. The magnets are small enough to fit into my Switch with case, and strong enough for normal movements. I charge my controller while playing and it does not loose or break at anytime. I use one for my Switch and one for my iPad, and it seems to handle the power output very well. The cable also works with my MacBook Pro 15’’, but the battery cannot stay 100% all the time because the cable can handle up to 60w while the MacBook Pro 15’’ requires 87w (They mention this in the product description). Overall, I like these cables.”

    Cables: 2 x 4 feet | Connectors: 2 USB-C | Charging end: USB-C | Output: 20V/3A

    4.

    A 3-pack available in 4 colors

    Amazon

    AUFU Magnetic Charging Cables (3-Pack)

    $17

    This set of magnetic charging cables comes with three 6.6-foot cables and is available in black, red, purple, or blue. Each of the cables in this set can be used straight or at a 90-degree angle thanks to the hinged magnet heads, and they can spin 360 degrees, so you’ll never have a twisted cable. They come with three USB-C connectors, three micro USBs, and three Lightning connectors, and they have a small LED light indicator on the front of the cable. You’ll get 3A quick-charge compatibility with this set, too.

    A helpful review: “This is the perfect charge cord. It flexible but not thin or cheap nor is it thick and bulky […] No more cord binding when charging while using my phone. The full rotation is great and no loss of connection. I leave my magnetic port in and have no fear of it falling out.”

    Cables: 3 x 6.6 feet | Connectors: 3 USB-C, 3 micro USB, and 3 Lightning | Charging end: USB-A | Output: 3A

    5.

The two 6-foot cables and four magnetic Lightning connectors are compatible with iPhones 5 through 12, as well as the iPad Pro, Air, and Mini. While the listing doesn’t include the maximum output, it does mention fast charging — and reviewers confirm it too.

    A helpful review: “Supports fast charging. Strong magnet. Reliable and durable. Better than magnetic cables I have purchased before. Been using this for two months and I’m satisfied with this purchase. I highly recommend this to iPhone users.”

    Cables: 2 x 6 feet | Connectors: 4 Lightning | Charging end: USB-A | Output: Not listed, but capable of fast charging, according to the brand

The set includes several cable lengths, each with a hinged magnet head for optimal charging angles. However, the 5V/2.4A output does not support fasting charging — but the set does come with a 12-month warranty against defects.

    A helpful review: “I LOVE the hinge and long cord for my phone bedside. Little light is a neat bonus for finding cord in dark. I actually think these charge well at a decent speed.”

    Cables: 2 x 3 feet, 2 x 6 feet, 1 x 10 feet | Connectors: 4 USB-C, 4 micro USB, and 4 Lightning | Charging end: USB-A | Output: 5V/2.4A

    7. A pack of 7 cables so you’ll always have one handy

    Amazon

    Bojianxin Rotating Magnetic Charging Cables (7-Pack)

    $21

    To replace every charging cord in the house, check out this set of seven charging cables that includes options ranging from 1. 6 to 10 feet. You’ll have a connector for multiple devices with four USB-C, four micro USB, and four Lightning tips. All of the cables can be hinged and rotated for the optimal charging angle, they feature LED indicator lights, and you’ll get an output of 5V/2.4A — so these cords won’t support fast charging, but they’re suitable for most phones and devices.

    A helpful review: “The cables are heavy duty, with strong magnets. The selection of plug ends allowed me to change over all my cords, so it doesn’t matter what type of plug my device started with, now they’re all the same – magnetic!!! A big time saver and hassle eliminator.”

    Cables: 1 x 1.6 feet, 2 x 3.3 feet, 2 x 6.6 feet, 2 x 10 feet | Connectors: 4 USB-C, 4 micro USB, and 4 Lightning | Charging end: USB-A | Output: 5V/2.4A

    Also consider: An extra set of Lightning tips

    Amazon

    Terasako Magnetic Lightning Tips (5-Pack)

    $10

    If you have single-prong cables (such as the ones sold in this set) and just want some extra tips for your Apple devices, pick up a pack of these Lightning connectors. Each one has a little arrow on the top to indicate which side should be up when inserted, and the brand offers extra micro USB tips and USB-C tips as well.

    A helpful review: “I wanted some extra magnetic charging tips and bought these. There seems to be universal compatibility between manufacturers as long as you get the kind that just has a metal ring on the back, and one center pin. The only thing to watch out for is that on iPads the charging only works when you install the magnetic adapter one particular way. If you insert it upside down, then it doesn’t charge. So be sure to try it first, and if it doesn’t seem to be working, then flip it over and try again. Very cool charging system.”

    Also nice: A MagSafe-compatible charging pad

    Amazon

    JSAUX Magnetic Wireless Charger

    $19

    Compatible with MagSafe cases, iPhones in the 12/13/14 series, AirPods, and AirPods Pro, this wireless charger uses a magnetized plate to connect to your device and deliver a charge without having to insert anything into the charging port. The charging cable is just under 5 feet long and has both USB-C and USB-A charging ends to connect to your adapter (which should be at least 18 watts, per the brand). You can choose between blue, silver, black, and purple color options, and while this one doesn’t come with a wall charger, the brand also offers a bundled set that includes an adapter.

    A helpful review: “You can not beat this product for charging your IPhone and earbuds. The magnet on the back of the phone Connects to charger on the first try every time.”

    Aliexpress Charger Wired Magnetic USB Mobile Phone Charging Magnetic USB Cable For iPhone Type C Magnet Charger Data Charging Charge Micro USB Cable For Android Mobile Phone Cables Essager service life »

    Hello everyone 🙋🏻‍♀️

    Many years of practice have shown that frequent charging of smartphones can lead to the fact that the socket for recharging the phone wears out. To charge the phone, you have to bend the cable this way and that way to find a contact.

    I like Xiaomi smartphone brand. I bought my first smartphone from this manufacturer back in 2017. The first year I used it actively, but within reason. And when I started writing reviews in the fall of 2018, the phone more and more often had to be charged, because I wrote reviews exclusively from the phone, and I also took photos from it. Over time, the recharging socket in it has worn out.

    A little more than six months ago I bought a new Xiaomi smartphone, and for the New Year I gave my daughter the same phone.

    In order not to “disturb” the recharging socket once again, I decided to purchase a wired magnetic charger for a mobile phone.

    At first I bought it for myself, and a little later I ordered it for my daughter.

    Today’s review is about Wired magnetic mobile phone charger with Type C, Micro USB, iPhone…

    Here is a convenient clasp. The package is tight and you can store your own charging cable in it, which came with the phone.

    ✅ DELIVERY SET

    Unfortunately, the power supply itself is not included, only a special cable and adapter.

    Magnetic charger for smartphones and iPhones

    The cable was neatly rolled up and fixed with wire.

    As I wrote above, I first bought it for myself, then for my daughter.

    The first time I bought it with three connector adapters, and the second time I bought it with only one (with one adapter it turns out a little cheaper)

    ✅ CABLE

    The seller had three types of cable lengths (0. 5 m, 3 m, 1 m.) Three meters is too much, half a meter is not enough, but a meter is just right. Both cables I chose this length.

    The cable is durable, in a dense high-quality nylon braid, with fairly good flexibility.

    Magnetic cable for iPad

    On one side there is a magnetic socket that can be easily magnetized to the connector.

    ✅ ADAPTERS | CONNECTORS

    We have three types of connectors: micro USB, Type-C and Lighting for iPhones and iPads.

    Magnetic connector for telephones

    The connectors are small, they are well magnetized, they hold securely in the cable, they do not fall out.

    Magnetic connector

    Magnetic phone charger

    I don’t have the technique for the Lighting connector, I can’t say anything about it.

    But micro USB and Type-C adapters are constantly used for several phones.

    The connectors are easy to insert into the mobile phone jack, you should hear a characteristic click, indicating the correct position of the adapter.

    Type C connector

    But on my old phone, the connector is often removed along with the cable.

    Magnetic charger for phones

    I don’t consider this a shortcoming of the charger. Just for 5.5 years of active use, the Xiaomi Redmi 4X smartphone has worn out. The plus is that the new cable charges the phone faster than its own. And charging is not interrupted, as it was before.

    ✅ ADVANTAGES

    • Several adapters for different models;
    • Quick charge;
    • Helps extend the life of mobile phones and tablets;
    • Good quality cable with a good sheath;
    • Indicator light;
    • Easy to insert into the phone;
    • Inexpensive;
    • Cable suitable for data transmission.

    Like every piece of gear you wear on your body day in and day out, fitness trackers are incredibly personal. They have to be comfortable and attractive, sure, but they must also fit your lifestyle, as well as when and how you like to work out. Do you bike, row, or do strength training? Do you run on trails for hours at a time, or do you just want a reminder to get up every hour?

    No matter what your needs are, there’s never been a better time to find a powerful, sophisticated tool that can help you optimize your workouts or jump-start your routine. We’ve tested dozens over the years to bring you these picks. While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out our Best Smartwatches and Best Running Gear guides.

    Updated May 2023: We removed the Amazon Halo, added the G-Shock Move and link to Best Fitbits, and updated links and pricing throughout.

      Fitbit Charge 5

      Even as Fitbit has faced stiff competition from other manufacturers—most notably, the Apple Watch—its trackers have always won me over. They hit a very specific sweet spot between attractiveness, affordability, accessibility, and ease of use. They’re perfect for everyone who isn’t an ultra-marathoner or a semipro powerlifter trying to hit a PR.

      The Charge line has consistently reached the top of our rankings, and the Charge 5 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is no exception. Last year’s iteration introduced softer lines, a bright AMOLED screen, and almost every sensor you could want, from stress scans to electrocardiograms. Like the Apple Watch does with iPhones, the Charge 5 fast-pairs to Android phones and has both onboard and connected GPS so you can track outdoor workouts without a hitch. It also now has an FDA-cleared feature to detect atrial fibrillation, via Fitbit’s new Heart Rhythm Notifications feature. The major downside is that you do still have to pay $10 per month, or $80 per year, for a Fitbit Premium subscription to access most of Fitbit’s best features. Fitbit is also now owned by Google, which might deter you. All in all, the hardware is still less expensive and easier to use than others on this list. Still not sure if this is the right Fitbit for you? Check out our guide to the Best Fitbits.

      Garmin Vivomove Trend

      One of the biggest pain points with fitness trackers is how each has its own proprietary charger. If you’re used to the convenience of charging your phone and earbuds on all-purpose Qi wireless charging pads, hunting for your proprietary charger can be a real annoyance. The Vivomove Trend (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is the first Garmin to have wireless charging, and it works!

      Like 2022’s Vivomove Sport ($180), it has an analog watch face and connected GPS via your watch. Start an activity by swiping and tapping the analog watch face or waiting for Garmin’s startlingly accurate Move IQ to pick it up. You get access to Garmin’s most convenient fitness features, like incident detection, contactless payments, sleep tracking, and continuous heart rate monitoring. Garmin also has some of the most helpful comprehensive fitness algorithms available—I’ve always found its Body Battery metric to be startlingly accurate, even catching when I’m getting sick or getting PMS.

      The only downside is that the Vivomove Sport is much cheaper and looks almost the same. But you will probably make up the difference in six months when you don’t have to replace the chargers.

      Best If You Have an iPhone

      Apple Watch Series 8

      People tend to hold on to their Apple Watches for years, and rightfully so—it is far and away the best fitness tracker if you have an iPhone. So if you want one, you’re best off with the latest Series 8 (8/10, WIRED Recommends). It comes with new body temperature sensors that are aimed at tracking menstrual cycles. It also has new safety features, such as Crash Detection. In the event of a severe car accident, the Series 8 will use a powerful new accelerometer and gyroscope as well as the barometer, GPS, and microphone to detect a car crash and alert emergency services if the user has not responded within 10 seconds.

      These come in conjunction with a whole host of health and fitness features in WatchOS 9, such as better workout views, more in-depth running metrics, medication logging, and better sleep tracking. In comparison, the new Apple Watch SE has the latest S8 chip and will have Crash Detection, but no wrist-based body temperature sensing, as well as no older features like the blood oxygen or ECG app. And with the exception of Fitbit, it has the widest array of third-party accessories.

      Best Budget Tracker

      Fitbit Inspire 3

      If all you want is a simple health tracker that will track your steps and your sleep and let you know when someone is calling, the internet’s marketplace is awash in knockoffs of this fitness tracker. For $80, you might as well get the original instead. This year, Fitbit released the latest version of its hugely popular Inspire, which thankfully (in my opinion) does not use Wear OS. Instead, it continues to use Fitbit’s clear and easy Fitbit app, has a pedometer and tracks SpO2 and sleep, and comes with a wide array of watch faces and accessories.

      All wasn’t easy-peasy. I had some connectivity issues and had to restart my phone when the Inspire 3 wouldn’t update the time zone for a day or two. The Inspire 3 also regularly overestimated how much sleep I’d gotten, which made me mistrust their new Sleep Profile feature. For two months, I had a chronic nighttime cough; the Inspire 3 regularly logged me at 7 hours a night because I was lying still, when switching to a more sensitive fitness tracker put me at a much more accurate 5. However, if you have no health issues, it is more reliable and accessible than a knockoff Inspire 3, and Fitbit also regularly puts its trackers on sale.

      Best Running Watch

      Garmin Forerunner 255

      Garmin’s Forerunner line has long been the best GPS-enabled fitness tracker for runners, and the midrange Forerunner 255 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) offers an incredible value for the number of features it offers in Garmin’s lineup.

      Do you want a feature? It probably has it, like multiband GPS support and a barometric altimeter, a compass, improved sleep tracking, and Bluetooth compatibility with a number of heart rate monitors. The battery life is incredible—reviewer Scott Gilbertson estimates it at about 30 hours of continuous use—and you can extend the battery life even further by turning off features like continuous Pulse Ox measuring. He especially liked the new Morning Report, which includes Body Battery as well as a daily greeting, the weather, and other tidbits, much like what Apple offers.

      It’s also worth noting here that the Forerunner line is quite extensive and meets a variety of needs. A beginning runner or triathlete will probably be happy with the cheaper and more basic Forerunner 35 ($170), while the experienced triathlete will want the Forerunner 945 ($600). Older models also retain their value and go on sale all the time.

      Best for Android Owners

      Samsung Galaxy Watch5

      Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch5 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is the comfiest Wear OS smartwatch out there. It comes in 40- and 44-mm sizes and runs the latest version of Wear OS 3, meaning you get access to Google Maps’ turn-by-turn navigation and Google Assistant, plus the best of Samsung’s health features, including SpO2 measurements, auto-workout detection, sleep tracking, and an electrocardiogram. It’s great for checking notifications and responding to them, too.

      Like the Apple Watch, don’t expect to go for days on a single charge. WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu says he usually had to charge it after a day and a half. Unfortunately, this watch only works with Android phones, and ECG tracking is limited to Samsung phones (as is blood pressure monitoring, but that’s not available in the US yet anyway). If you want a bigger watch that’s just a bit more rugged, try the pricey Galaxy Watch5 Pro ($500), which has better battery life, has GPX support, and is made of more durable materials. (I did find that the accelerometer is a bit wonky when it comes to auto-pause and start, which can be a little annoying if you run on roads.) Alternatively, if you want to save some cash, you can snag last year’s Galaxy Watch5, which is still a great watch.

    • Photograph: Google

      Best for Wear OS

      Google Pixel Watch

      While Apple has been honing their smartwatch and fitness tracker to a finely tuned machine, Google has been noticeably late to the party. When it finally debuted this year, reviews editor Julian Chokkattu noted that while it does include key fitness features like an ECG and a heart rate monitor, it doesn’t have auto workout detection, fall detection, or SpO2 sensing. The Fitbit integration isn’t as smooth as you might think, given that Google acquired the company in 2019—the app looks dated and cramped on the screen, and Wear OS needs more apps in general.

      However, the Pixel is a notably beautiful watch and the heart of the fitness tracking experience is Fitbit’s, which means that the data itself is very accurate and empowering (you will still have to pay for a Fitbit Premium subscription). Also, more features will be unrolling through 2023. If you’ve been waiting with bated breath for a Wear OS watch, this might be it.

      Best Ring

      Oura Ring Gen3

      I had complaints about Oura’s Gen3 ring—namely, that the company was strongly encouraging its customers to commit and upgrade to the Gen3 and a new $6-per-month subscription long before any of the newest features were even available.

      However, in a sea of identical square and round watches, there really isn’t any tracker like the Oura. It’s extremely small and attractive, and this year’s new onboard sensors are just as accurate as they were before. Those features are now available with the membership, and you can access guided meditations, personalized insights, and educational content; without it, you will only be able to access your three basic Oura scores, which are your Daily Readiness, Sleep, and Activity scores (essentially what you saw last year). If you have trouble predicting your period, the ring is sensitive enough to pick up the half-degree temperature drop right before mine starts. Although the company has made no explicit statement about Roe v. Wade, it’s based in Finland and abides by the GDPR, and US-based health authorities cannot subpoena data from it.

      The Most Wearable

      Whoop 4.0 (Membership)

      The biggest problem with any fitness wearable of any kind is how often they get in the way of … working on your fitness. You can’t wear the Oura ring while rock climbing, for example. That’s why the cult fitness tracker company Whoop introduced a line of smart clothes this year. Right now, I’m wearing the tracker tucked into the Any-Wear bralette. I can’t even feel it! Now I can track my runs with my Garmin!

      Whoop is best suited for athletes who can independently interpret its somewhat arcane metrics. “Daily Strain” measures only cardiovascular load, so a day where I walked 3 miles to and fro is supposedly a harder day than when I lifted weights for an hour. The Whoop 4.0 is also smaller than last year’s model, with a new battery, but I did experience charging issues with the new version. You have to keep the app running at all times, lest it constantly warn you that it can’t update right this second. At $30, the monthly subscription is the most expensive one here, and the line of proprietary clothing does not have extended sizing. Even with all those caveats, it’s the only wearable I’ve ever forgotten I’m wearing.

      Best Outdoor Watch

      Garmin Fenix 7S Sapphire Solar

      This year, Garmin released two high-end adventure watches: the Epix ($1,000) and this year’s update to the Fenix series, the Fenix 7S Sapphire Solar (8/10, WIRED Recommends). The Epix has a 47-mm case and a large, brilliant AMOLED screen; the Fenix has a memory-in-pixel (MIP) display. However, the Epix’s case is huge, and the display eats up a lot of battery. I’d go with the Fenix instead.

      This year’s iteration has vastly improved battery life with solar charging—I got two weeks off one charge, with intermittent sunlight during a cloudy Oregon winter. Multiple GPS systems meant that it pinpointed my location with incredible speed and accuracy, even in the rain and under tree cover. It can record every biometric for every sport under the sun. And honestly, maps on the MIP still look detailed and pretty great. The downside? It is still fairly spendy, and earlier iterations do go on sale pretty often.

      ★ Alternative: If having a super bright, super crisp display or a super easy-to-use app is not at the top of your list of priorities, I highly recommend the Coros Apex 2 Pro. It connects to all five satellite systems and includes the dual-frequency GNSS support that the Apple Watch Ultra has, for more precise (and fast!) location tracking. With regular use, the battery lasted over a month.

      The tracking is as accurate as the Apple Watch Ultra’s, but Coros’ training plans and metrics in their proprietary training system, EvoLab, are as detailed and helpful as Garmin’s. The plans are also clearly aimed at more experienced runners, although there are a few for beginners. I also like the big grooved buttons, the fact that the screen locks, and the startlingly wide variety of watch faces.

      An Update to a Classic

      Casio G-Shock Move

      A G-Shock is a classic watch for an outdoorsy person; these devices are known for being big, rugged, and unbreakable. (To me, they’re best known for being the watch that Keanu Reeves wears in Speed). Lo, this spring Casio released the G-Shock Move, which has the classic G-Shock looks and functionality coupled with Bluetooth connectivity and a brand-new partnership with Polar. The company known for its granular fitness data collection recently released 25 of its algorithms for use with commercial partners, of which Casio is the first. The partnership needs a little ironing out—you connect to the Casio Watches app (and not, confusingly, the G-Shock Move app), and it’s unattractive and hard to navigate, plus Polar’s biometrics can be difficult to interpret. It’s also slower to connect to GPS than other trackers I’ve tried. Accuracy while recording my outdoor runs suffered as a result—I often just took off rather than standing around shivering in my shorts.

      However, it’s still a G-Shock. The battery lasted 10 days; the display is clear and easy to read; the buttons are pleasantly clicky and easy to navigate; and it’s much, much lighter and easier to wear than other G-Shocks I’ve tried. The data on sleep collection also goes into much deeper detail than any other tracker I’ve tried. If you’ve always wanted a smart fitness tracker but were wedded to your classic Casio, this is the one to try.

      Best for Weekend Warriors

      Apple Watch Ultra

      This year, Apple introduced a completely new type of Apple Watch: the Ultra (8/10, WIRED Recommends), a rugged sports watch intended for endurance athletes. The 2.5-day battery life seems mediocre, but here is a secret that few runners, cyclists, or skiers will admit: Not all of us are Jenny Graham. Most of us are all too happy to enjoy a day out before coming home to a pork shoulder roast and a shower.

      Iif you have an iPhone and have access to an outlet, then the Apple Watch Ultra is the best outdoor watch for you. It’s been certified to the MIL-STD-810H standard for military equipment, so it won’t die when it gets too hot, cold, or dusty. It’s made from aerospace-grade titanium with a flat sapphire crystal display, with a host of specialized navigation features, like a new hybrid analog-digital compass; Backtrack, to find your way back to the trail if you’ve become disoriented; and Waypoints, to track points of interest. It has a precision dual-frequency GPS system to ensure your running stats are accurate in a crowded city marathon, and three built-in microphones with special wind-reduction algorithms so you can take work calls from the top of the lift.

      Best Analog Watch Dupe

      Withings ScanWatch

      The Withings ScanWatch (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is unique for several reasons. Many other trackers, such as the Apple Watch Series 8, offer the ability to detect atrial fibrillation and measure blood oxygen levels through the SpO2 sensor. However, Withings obtained clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration before selling the ScanWatch in the US. Most of the trackers on the list can go several days without charging, but the ScanWatch can go up to a month. You can access all the features on the Health Mate app without a subscription.

      It’s worth pointing out that most fitness trackers look like fitness trackers, but the ScanWatch looks like a normal analog watch. This is the best everyday fitness tracker for anyone who doesn’t want to broadcast to the world that they count how many hours they sleep each night. WIRED contributor Simon Hill gives it the highest praise possible—even after nine months, he’s still wearing it.

      My Favorite Watch

      Garmin Instinct 2 Solar

      Out of all these watches, the one I chose to come with me on a two-week beach adventure vacation was the Instinct 2 Solar (9/10, WIRED Recommends). It’s one of Garmin’s most popular backcountry watches and combines a somewhat chunky, technical aesthetic (and fun colors!) with backcountry capability. With the Instinct 2, you get access to Garmin’s multiple satellite systems and navigational features, insane battery life, and the ability to track many sport-specific metrics … without blowing money on extras like a big light-up screen.

      The main updates to the Instinct 2 are improved solar charging, a high-resolution display, and a petite 40-mm case size. That smaller size fits on my wrist and under my jacket sleeve much more easily, and the high-resolution display is easier to read. The battery also lasted for a mindblowing 21 days, with multiple tracked activities per day. It also comes in a ton of different colors and sports-specific styles. For example, the popular Surf Edition—there are also Tactical and Esports versions—is compatible with the hugely popular surf forecasting company Surfline. You can see tide data and track your surfing. (It also has the best colors.)

      ★ Alternative: Can’t decide between the Instinct and the Vivomove lines? Now you don’t have to. I’m currently testing the Instinct Crossover Solar ($500), which combines the Instinct’s rugged capabilities with Garmin’s solar-powered watch face. It’s a little less intuitive to operate than either the Instinct or Vivomove itself, but I do find the analog hands convenient and the battery life is stellar.

      Honorable Mentions

      Other Trackers We Like

      We liked some other watches that didn’t quite make it into our top picks.

      • Mobvoi TicWatch GTH Pro for $100: Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS is one of my colleague Julian Chokkattu’s top smartwatch picks. That’s a Wear OS watch though, and the GTH Pro isn’t so smart. Its standout feature is Arty, which uses two light sensors to monitor your heart health. However, the Withings watch has been cleared by the FDA, and so far the GTH Pro has not. The screen also fritzes out occasionally.
      • Amazfit GTR 3 Pro for $230: This is the first of Amazfit’s watches I’ve actually liked wearing. It has onboard GPS and is sturdy and durable, and the screen is beautiful. However, I didn’t reliably get my Bluetooth notifications, couldn’t measure my blood oxygen levels or control my music, and some of the advanced training metrics need ironing out.
      • The Polar Ignite for $202: I like the Ignite’s low profile and extremely granular data collection, which lets you check how factors like heart-rate variability, breathing rate, and heart rate all combine to ramp up your autonomic nervous system.
      • The Suunto 9 Peak for $575: We recommended the Suunto 9 Baro for bikepacking, and the 9 Peak includes all of the features in a much more compact, attractive package. It’s too sensitive to be a great everyday tracker (it tells me I’ve hit 400 steps before I even get out of bed), but it’s a great adventure watch.
      • The Wahoo Fitness Elemnt Rival for $330: The functions on this watch were pretty perfunctory; there are much more capable trackers for this price. However, it integrates with Wahoo’s smart indoor trainer system, which is excellent.

      Buyer Beware

      I Did Not Like These Trackers

      I test new fitness trackers all the time. Some of them are duds.

      • Fossil Gen 6 Wellness for $299:  Our unhappy reviews editor Julian Chokkattu said that this smartwatch was laggy and had only barebones fitness tracking, and no ECG. It’s pretty attractive, though.
      • Amazfit PowerBuds Pro for $120: The concept of earbuds that are also fitness trackers is intriguing, and these look and feel a lot like the AirPods Pro. However, I don’t particularly like Zepp OS, and their utility is also limited since you don’t wear earbuds constantly (at least, I don’t).
      • Matrix PowerWatch 2 for $300: Recharging from solar energy and body heat works! I wore this watch for more than three weeks without having to recharge it. However, it’s huge and clunky. During my testing, the heart rate monitor was inaccurate, and it was hard to change the display. The app was also beset by technical problems, and I had to constantly reinstall the app and reconnect the watch.

    There was a time not too long ago when Fitbit was essentially the only wearable in town, the most popular way to brag about step counts and the rest. While its status has waned in the face of ever-growing competition, Fitbit is still making easy-to-use fitness trackers and watches.

    Now under the ownership of Google, Fitbit is continuing to refresh its trackers and smartwatches. So if you’ve not yet been lured in by an Apple Watch or can’t afford to spend big, you still have good Fitbit options for tracking fitness, sleep, and other health metrics, with a nice variety of designs and features.

      Google Bought Fitbit. So What?

      In January 2021, Google officially announced that it had completed the acquisition of Fitbit for a reported $2.1 billion, grabbing hardware and software teams that also absorbed assets from Pebble, which Fitbit acquired in 2016. Quite rightly, some people have concerns about the shift in ownership from a data privacy point of view. In a blog post, Rick Osterloh, a senior VP at Google, stated that the deal was always about devices and not data. Fitbit has supported this claim on its own help page, where it explains the Fitbit by Google brand and states that Google will not use Fitbit health and wellness data for Google ads. Whether that will remain the case in the future isn’t completely clear.

      Google’s presence seems to grow by the month. Since that acquisition, we have seen new devices launched under the Fitbit name with native Google apps built in. Google has also launched its own smartwatch in the form of the Pixel Watch, with fitness tracking features from Fitbit. Google is still launching wearables with Fitbit’s name, and we expect Google’s own hardware to continue to absorb the software smarts that Fitbit has been working on since it entered the wearable tech space.

      Fitbit Charge 5

      Fitbit’s whole brand is built on fitness trackers, and while it has moved into the competitive world of smartwatches, there’s still good reason to choose a Fitbit tracker over a Fitbit smartwatch—especially when it’s the Fitbit Charge 5 (8/10, WIRED Recommends), which should satisfy step counters, sleep monitors, serious health worriers, and casual runners alike. The Charge series lies halfway between smartwatch and tracker, and the Charge 5 adds a more vibrant AMOLED touchscreen, which can stay on continuously and makes up for the not-so-responsive raise-to-wake support. It gives you a solid seven-day battery life, the best of Fitbit’s daily activity tracking, and reliable sleep tracking, with additional metrics like sleeping heart rate no longer locked away behind Fitbit’s Premium subscription.

      Those with more serious health concerns can use the ECG sensor, which has been approved to check for signs associated with atrial fibrillation. The skin temperature sensor isn’t designed for serious health insights, but it could be useful if you think you might be coming down with a cold or fever. The Charge 5 also remains the only Fitbit tracker to include onboard GPS, which offers enough accuracy for casual runners—marathon runners will probably look elsewhere. Fitbit’s training features, like its Daily Readiness Scores, can give you a better idea of when to work out, though. Overall, the Charge 5 offers most of the best Fitbit features for a decent price, all without taking up as much wrist space as its smartwatches.

      Fitbit Inspire 3

      The Fitbit Inspire 3 offers the best battery life you can get on a Fitbit right now: up to 10 days, depending on how you use it. It also improves on the previous Inspire by adding an AMOLED touchscreen. I do wish this was a tad bigger, but it’s a big visibility improvement over the previous two Inspire trackers. Fitbit focuses on its core strengths here, giving you a better screen and interface—influenced by its smartwatches—to view daily step count progress. This form factor is extremely comfortable to take to bed and track sleep stages. It’s also just a nicer way to check in on your phone notifications.

      The Inspire 3 also packs in a high-performing optical heart rate monitor for insights like resting heart rate and an SpO2 sensor that focuses on tracking blood oxygen levels only during sleep. If you’re intrigued, you can see your breathing rate, skin temperature, and “stress management” scores via the mindfulness and wellness-inclined additions. The Inspire 3 proves you don’t have to spend big to get the best of what Fitbit has to offer and enjoy better battery life than all of the trackers and watches that sit above it.

      Fitbit Luxe

      The most desirable wearables don’t scream that they’re packed with tech, and while Fitbit has sought to make all of its trackers and watches pair with your outfit, the Luxe looks most like a fancy accessory. The Luxe sets a colorful AMOLED screen on your wrist and matches that with a slim, stainless steel case and a range of mesh, woven, and leather bands. It even looks great with the bundled silicone band.

      Beneath this attractive exterior lie the sensors and smarts to reliably track heart rate throughout the day and night and capture SpO2 data while you sleep for a useful-if-not-vital dose of wellness data. This Fitbit has 20 exercise modes and “connected GPS” via your phone to give it some limited sports-tracking functionality, though I found the lack of an altimeter to track a flight of stairs I climbed a disappointing omission. The suite of mindfulness tools such as Fitbit’s Relax breathing exercises and Stress Management Scores show the direction it’s heading. For now, the Luxe manages to wrap those core Fitbit features up in a slender and stylish frame.

      The Best Fitbit Smartwatch

      Fitbit Versa 4

      Now that the Google Pixel Watch actually exists, the fate of Fitbit’s own smartwatches feels up in the air. But if the idea of owning a Pixel Watch doesn’t appeal and you’re interested in a more Fitbit-centric experience with better battery life, the Versa 4 is the one to go for. You get a smartwatch with a gently curved design—it’s almost identical to the Versa, but with the welcome return of a physical button. There’s a large, vibrant, 1.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display and a battery performance that can really stretch over the promised six days if you don’t leave the screen on 24/7.

      As for sports, the Versa 4 gives you built-in GPS to track outdoor runs and rides and the motion sensors to track indoor swims well enough—though not with sports-watch-rivaling accuracy. Fitbit’s latest PurePulse heart-rate sensor is a better fit for day-to-day heart rate stats than it is for a CrossFit class. And third-party app support has been replaced by native Google apps, like Maps, with Google Assistant joining Amazon’s Alexa. As a device that lets you check your phone notifications, keep an eye on step counts and sleep, and forget about charging it constantly, the Versa 4 has plenty to like.

      Serious Health Tracking

      Fitbit Sense 2

      The Fitbit Sense was clearly designed to attract the kind of people who were looking at the Apple Watch (and the rest) as much to monitor health as gym time. The Sense 2 delivers that primarily through an ECG sensor that’s approved in the US to help wearers detect potential signs of atrial fibrillation. A skin temperature sensor can monitor temperature changes during the night to spot any trends and an SpO2 sensor goes to work when you’re sleeping to detect breathing disturbances. While it’s not a regulatory-approved feature, it can potentially detect signs of the sleep disorder sleep apnea.

      An electrical cEDA sensor captures on-the-spot and continuous measurements of galvanic skin response that Fitbit uses as a marker of stress. Fitbit needs to work on delivering information on potential stressors in a useful way, but it’s a start. The Sense 2 also grabs all of the cheaper Versa’s fitness-tracking and sports-tracking features, including built-in GPS, and uses a PurePulse heart-rate sensor to keep track of your Active ZoneMinutes when you’re upping the intensity. You need Fitbit Premium ($10/£8 per month) to unlock all of the most valuable health insights. If you want a Fitbit smartwatch with a stronger and more serious health-tracking edge, this is the one you want.

      Honorable Mentions

      If you’re on a budget, you might want to consider last year’s Fitbits or if you want to combine tracking with a more rounded smartwatch experience, there’s the Pixel Watch. Here’s how they stack up.

      • Fitbit Inspire HR ($79): It doesn’t have that more colorful and vibrant display of the Inspire 3 (above), but if you want to get many of the same staple fitness features, plus sleep-monitoring accuracy, you can pick this fitness band up for less than $100.
      • Fitbit Versa 3 ($141): That physical button aside, the Fitbit Versa 4 doesn’t offer hugely different features or performance compared to this Versa 3 watch. So if you can hunt out the older Versa, you’ll get a strong fitness-tracking and smartwatch experience overall.
      • Fitbit Sense ($169): Again, the differences between the original Sense and the newer Sense 2 are fairly minimal. With the first Sense, you’re missing out on the reinstated physical button, the cEDA sensor (as opposed to the EDA sensor), and a few very minor design changes.
      • Google Pixel Watch ($350): If you don’t entirely love Fitbit’s software, then the Pixel Watch provides an alternative with a really clean, slick version of its own Wear OS operating system that also hosts those core Fitbit fitness-tracking features.

      Fitbit Versus Apple Watch

      Fitbit and Apple are still arguably the two biggest names in the fitness-tracking business. Fitbit offers more form factors to choose from, while Apple is led by its Apple Watch, with the Ultra appealing to endurance athletes. Fitbit’s trackers and watches have a more beginner-friendly feel and can offer longer battery life between charges compared to Apple’s collection of smartwatches. Fitbit also has more advanced native sleep tracking, while Apple is playing catchup on that front.

      If you care about daily activity tracking, both offer motivational features to keep you moving throughout the day. Fitbit doesn’t get you to close those rings like Apple does, but it will nudge you to get up. The lion’s share of its stats and metrics are geared toward telling you how active or inactive you’ve been. Both are serious about health tracking, offering ECG, SpO2, temperature, and optical heart rate monitors on most devices for useful and possibly life-changing insights. The Apple Watch has more strengths as a sports tracker; the richer app store gives it the edge here. But for a variety of designs; ease of use; and sheer range of metrics and data across health, fitness, and mental well-being, Fitbit certainly holds its own.

      Calorie & Step Clock

      One of many mobile apps can help you calculate your calories. To determine how many calories you parted with in the process of walking or playing sports, it is much more convenient to use a fitness bracelet. The compact strap with built-in sensors will record the level of activity and energy consumption. This approach will help you take a balanced approach to your diet and the necessary load in order to always stay in great shape.

      How does the Actenzo calorie fitness bracelet work?

      A silicone strap with a built-in monitor and sensors is fixed 1-2 cm above the wrist. The sensors are tightly attached to the skin and record a number of physiological parameters:

      heart rate;

      · arterial pressure;

      · spent kilocalories;

      The number of steps taken

      sleep duration.

      They are based on:

      sleep quality;

      The level of stress;

      level of physical activity;

      body fitness.

      The Actenzo physiological parameters tracker measures them several times a day. Steps and activity level are read continuously. The user has the ability to adjust the sampling frequency.

      Stylish, comfortable, efficient

      Flexible silicone watch strap that counts calories and hours without getting in the way or distracting. IP67 water resistance allows you to take a shower and perform the usual hygiene procedures without removing the bracelet.

      The bracelet looks stylish and modern, easily fits into the style and image. Along with the classic dark strap model, you can purchase a bracelet with contrasting bright inserts that will make the smartwatch more dynamic and relevant.

      A smart watch is not just a fashion accessory that will replace your familiar analog dial. Actenzo’s difference lies in its accompaniment. The bracelet is used with a subscription, which significantly expands the functionality of the bracelet, allowing you to use it most effectively to monitor your own health.

      Care – subscription convenient for every user

      Users get the maximum functionality of a smart bracelet with a subscription. A special mobile or web application is a convenient tool for tracking basic physiological indicators. They can be presented in the form of graphs or charts to visually track changes and compliance with regulatory parameters.

      Whether you’re into sports or just taking extra care of your health, there’s a subscription option for both.

      Actenzo.Care is a subscription that allows you to monitor blood pressure, take ECG, track stress factors that can negatively affect your health in the long term (poor sleep quality or low activity levels). This data will allow you to monitor your health on your own, as well as provide graphs, for example, to a doctor who will help you adjust your regimen in order to improve your well-being.

      The heart rate, duration and type of training, the ability to work with specialized professional heart rate monitors Polar Oh2 and Polar h20 will be useful for athletes.

      Another “feature” of Actenzo is the “Active Observer” function. The bracelet can be presented to an elderly person to track his physiological parameters. Such a subscription will allow you to receive push notifications about changes in the physiological parameters of a loved one. A jump in pressure or heart rate will be instantly recorded and sent to your smartphone as a pop-up notification.

      Using a bracelet with a subscription is as convenient as possible. Track your own physiological parameters, take care of your loved ones – timely attention to health is rewarded with good health and longevity!

    Distance and size of tv: What TV Sizes and Dimensions Should I Get?

    What TV Sizes and Dimensions Should I Get?

    Choose your location and language.

    What size TV

    should I get?

    We’ve put together some tips for

    when it comes to choosing a TV size.

    How to measure

    TV screen size

    Calculating your TV size is less complicated than you might think. A TV’s size refers to its diagonal length, which comes from measuring from the upper left hand corner of the actual TV screen to the lower right hand corner. Most are expressed in inches.

    Rule of thumb:

    bigger is better

    TVs come in various sizes, but we recommend selecting the largest size your budget allows. If you’re considering getting a TV that’s 75 inches or more, there’s something you should know. According to Samsung Internal Research, a major reason for purchasing new TVs is the demand for bigger screens. And that even after purchase, satisfaction remains very high. So, has there been a particular screen size that’s been on your mind? Then, now’s the time to go big and never look back.

    Recommended viewing distance for your TV

    All TVs have a recommended distance and angle that you will want to consider when setting it up in your home. The best and most immersive viewing experience is when 40 degrees of your field of view is taken up by the screen. This field of view distance can be calculated by just knowing the size of your TV. To get this suitable distance, multiply the screen size by 1.2. So for a 75 inch TV, that means sitting 90 inches, or 2. 3 meters away. Have a look at the table provided to determine the recommended viewing distances for various TV sizes so you can choose the best TV size for your space.

    Other things to keep in mind

    1. Check the actual TV dimensions.

    The excitement of buying a new TV can often cause you to forget about the actual task of setting it up. A TV is more than just its screen size. The physical dimensions of a big screen TV, stand and bezel included, as well as its future placement in its room are all important factors to remember. Be sure to compare the exact TV dimensions with your furniture setup to avoid headaches down the road when setting up your big screen TV.

    2. Check the TV resolution, especially with a big screen TV.

    The general rule of thumb is that as the screen size increases, so should the total pixel count or resolution. The better the resolution, the more you see the image instead of the pixels. This is why when you buy a big screen TV it is highly recommended to go with a high resolution picture quality like 4K.

    Just remember, going
    big means no regrets later.

    What Size TV Do I Need? TV Size Chart and Guide

    Photo: istockphoto.com

    Q: My last TV was so small that I couldn’t clearly make out all of the details of my favorite shows. I don’t have eyesight problems, so I think the TV was too small. What size TV do I need?

    A: The TV size you need depends on a few factors, including the viewing distance from the television and room size. Once you’ve calculated these, which TV you should buy becomes a much easier question to answer.

    Of course, a television can always be bigger or smaller than recommended based on personal preference. Some people want to feel like they’re sitting in a movie theater, while others may prefer for their TV to double as decor by displaying artwork on the screen when not in use.

    Chances are that if one TV is coming into a home, another one is going out. Dispose of old TVs responsibly by donating or recycling them. TVs contain hazardous materials that shouldn’t go in landfills. Local recycling centers are a good place to start, and the EPA also offers TV recycling resources.

    RELATED: The Best TV Brands

    Viewing distance is the most important factor in determining the ideal TV size for a room.

    TV viewing distance is the single biggest factor when choosing a TV size. The ideal distance is a sweet spot in which the viewer can take in the entirety of the screen without seeing individual pixels, the dots of light that make up the picture.

    In general, bigger TVs located closer to the viewer offer better picture quality and immersion. Not everyone wants to sit so close to their television, however, so the the TV size chart further below is a great starting point for viewing distance.

    There’s also a balance to strike between viewing distance and TV size. Perhaps you dream of a large 75-inch TV in your cozy living room, but if that’s too big for the available space, the best size TV for you might be a smaller, higher-resolution TV.

    Screen Size

    How to measure TV size differs from how to measure other home electronics. TVs are measured on the angle from the top corner of one side of the screen to the bottom corner of the other side. When measuring the wall area where a TV will hang, it’s important to understand that a 75-inch TV doesn’t have a 75-inch width—it’s approximately 75 inches from corner to corner. The actual width and height of a 75-inch TV varies from model to model, though their screen should all be around 75 inches on the diagonal.

    There are many standard TV screen sizes, with most ranging between 40 and 75 inches. A little outside of that range are small TVs, typically measuring 24 or 32 inches or smaller, and exceptionally large TVs that measure in at 80 or 85 inches. Between those extremes are the more common TV sizes of 40, 43, 50, 55, 65, 70, and 75 inches.

    The most popular living room TV sizes are 55- to 65-inch models, while TVs under 45 inches are often used as secondary televisions in bedrooms or offices.

    Most people have to decide whether they’re going to buy a model that’s slightly smaller or larger than their space can handle. A model that’s a little bigger than necessary will provide a higher-quality viewing experience, but it could dominate wall or floor space. Viewing habits can help determine which way to go, too. For those who predominantly watch movies, a larger screen will feel more like a movie theater. For those who predominantly watch sports, a smaller TV will make it easier to take in the whole screen and follow the action.

    Resolution

    TV resolution refers to the number of pixels on the screen. Higher resolutions offer a clearer picture. Each resolution has a fairly standard number of horizontal pixels (the first number) and vertical pixels (the second number), though there is some variation between brands and models. The most common resolutions include:

    • 720p (HD): A 720p, or high-definition, TV has 1280 x 720 pixels on its screen. 720p TV screen sizes are often 32 inches and under. This resolution is best suited for online videos, like those found on YouTube.
    • 1080p (FHD): 1080p, or full high-definition, TVs typically have 1920 x 1080 pixels. This resolution was once standard but has largely been replaced by 4K. However, 1080p TVs offer a good viewing experience for the price, making them a good budget pick for casual viewing and gaming.
    • 4K (UHD): A 4K TV, or ultra high-definition TV, has 3840 x 2160 pixels. These TVs are now standard, and many newer series and movies are shot in 4K.
    • 8K (UHD): Some of the newest models on the market are 8K TVs, which have 7580 x 4320 pixels. (These are also commonly referred to as UHD, but don’t confuse them with 4K TVs.) There’s currently very little content made in 8K, which makes these a less practical buy at this point. However, they’re an investment that will likely future-proof an entertainment setup for years to come.

    Field of View

    Field of view refers to the viewer’s viewing angle. An optimal TV field of view positions seating at a distance that allows the viewer to see the entire screen within a minimum of 30 degrees. Beyond that point, the viewer is forced to use their peripheral vision and miss some details on the screen’s edges. That field of view can work well for streaming episodic television and watching sports.

    However, for those who often watch movies, a closer viewing distance that creates a 40-degree field of view offers a more immersive experience. As TV size increases, the best TV position will be further from the viewer to maintain the best field of view.

    RELATED: How High Should I Mount My TV on the Wall?

    Photo: istockphoto.com

    TV size may be restricted if you have a media cabinet.

    A media cabinet with an existing TV opening can limit screen size. In these cases, the method for measuring a TV’s size-to-distance ratio doesn’t strictly apply. Measure the cabinet opening on the diagonal and buy the largest TV you can for the size of the cabinet, but leave enough clearance around the TV to access rear or side connections.

    There’s greater flexibility in TV size when using a TV stand or TV wall mount. Just remember that TV stands and cabinets are generally measured horizontally, while TVs themselves are measured diagonally. Check a TV’s overall dimensions to make sure it will fit on either.

    TV mounts provide the greatest flexibility in size and viewing angle, and some adjustable mounts even tilt or telescope in and out. Make sure to get a mount compatible with your TV model. It not only has to be strong enough to hold the TV’s weight, but the brackets and screws also have to fit the TV. It’s usually easier to select a mount after selecting the TV.

    Determine where you plan to install the TV to formulate the ideal size.

    How to size a TV for a room comes down to measurements. Carefully measure the area where the TV will be installed. Double-check those measurements, remembering that TVs are measured on the diagonal. Next, measure the distance from the television to the optimum viewing point, such as a sofa or chair. Use the formula and TV size chart further below to calculate the best TV size and viewing distance.

    Manufacturers recommend different viewing distances based on a TV’s resolution. These guidelines are a range which allows anywhere from 8 to 12 inches of flexibility for optimal viewing experiences. The basic rules of thumb are:

    • 720p: 6 times the TV’s vertical screen height
    • 1080p: 3 times the TV’s vertical screen height
    • 4K: 1.5 times the TV’s vertical screen height
    • 8K: 1.5 times the TV’s vertical screen height (can optionally be closer)

    Calculating viewing distance for 8K TVs is a bit tricky. Start with 1.5 times the TV’s vertical screen height and then move closer by a few inches. There’s no perfect formula for these models, but the higher resolution means viewers can sit closer without getting a distorted picture.

    However, there’s also room for preference. Some people don’t want to sit so close to the TV and some may prefer an inconspicuous model, but others may want a full cinematic experience. Buy a bigger or smaller TV based on personal preference and room, but make sure it will fit within its destined display space.

    5.5 feet = 43-inch TV with 1080p Resolution

    Photo: bestbuy.com

    A 43-inch TV will typically be about 22.5 inches tall. Multiply 22.5 by 3, and the result is 67.5 inches. To turn inches into feet, divide 67.5 by 12, and the 43-inch TV should be about 5.6 feet from the viewer.

    22.5 x 3 = 67.5 inches
    67.5/12 = 5.625 feet

    How to determine the optimal distance to the TV (+ table)

    At what distance can I watch a 49″ TV?

    For safe viewing, the minimum distance must be at least: 1.5 meters from a 32″ TV; 1.6 meters for 40 inches; 1.7 meters for 42 inches; 1.9 meters for 47 inches; 2 meters for 50 inches; 2.2 meters for 55 inches; 2.4 meters for 60 inches; 2.6 meters for 65 inches.

    How far can I watch a 55″ 4k TV?

    According to homecinemagazine.nl, the recommended viewing distance is approximately 1.2 to 1.7 times the TV diagonal. For a 55-inch (140 cm) 4K Ultra HD TV, you get a viewing distance of 168-238 centimeters from the screen for comfortable viewing.

    How to calculate the distance to the TV for comfortable viewing?

    To calculate the distance according to these recommendations, you need to multiply the distance between the viewer and the TV screen by 0.625. Thus, given our distance (in the example) of 2.74 meters, the diagonal of the TV screen should be 68 inches (the average between a diagonal of 65 and 70).

    How to choose the right size 4k TV?

    How to measure the diagonal of a TV

    The diagonal should be approximately 4 times smaller than this distance. For example, if the sofa is only 2.5 meters from the TV in your apartment, choose a TV with a diagonal of 37-40 inches, 2.6-3 meters – 42-47 inches.

    How to calculate the distance to the TV?

    The diagonal must be approximately 4 times smaller than this distance. For example, if the sofa is only 2.5 meters from the TV in your apartment, choose a TV with a diagonal of 37-40 inches, 2.6-3 meters – 42-47 inches. And if this distance is more than 3 meters, you can purchase a model with a diagonal of 50 inches.

    At what distance is it safe for the eyes to watch TV?

    Safe distance from the TV

    The distance from the eyes to the TV screen should ideally be three or four times the diagonal length of the screen. In other words, if your TV screen has a diagonal of 100 cm, then the distance between your eyes and the screen should be at least 3 meters.

    How far can you watch an LCD TV?

    The 50 inch UHD TV can be viewed from a distance of one meter without any discomfort. For a UHD TV with a diagonal of 85 inches, the distance to the screen can be considered optimal in the range from 1.6 to 3.3 meters.

    Why can’t you sit close to the TV?

    Do not watch TV in the dark, as the contrast between the room light and the brightness of the screen contributes to the rapid development of eye fatigue. It is important that the light source is out of sight. … Eye fatigue is also caused by fuzzy, blurry images on the screen.

    How far should the sofa be from the TV?

    The classic formula is a factor of 2. 5-3 multiplied by the size of the diagonal in centimeters. After calculations, we get the distance from the viewer to the TV screen. For example, if you buy a 50-inch (127 cm) TV set, it should be about 3.8 meters from it to a comfortable sofa.

    how to calculate and which one to choose, the right size for the room

    When choosing a TV, it is imperative to take into account its diagonal and viewing distance

    Today, many who want to buy a brand new TV often face such a basic problem as choosing an appliance. There are a huge variety of different brands and models of TVs, which differ in the set of all kinds of functions, their size and, most importantly, the price. Today, the latest TV technology has become available to almost every family. There are such TVs as: liquid crystal and plasma. But still, the main factor when choosing becomes – the diagonal of the TV.

    Material Content:

    • 1 What can be the diagonal of TV: the permissible dimensions
    • 2 TV size: how to choose a diagonal
    • 3 How to calculate the diagonal of the TV and what is needed for
    • 4 The size of the TV, depending on the distance

    What can be the TV diagonal: allowable dimensions

    It is impossible to imagine today’s family without a TV. He has become almost like a member of the family, both adults and children cannot do without him. However, in order for the TV to be able to please you with image quality and at the same time not spoil your eyesight, you need to choose the right size, that is, determine the desired diagonal, at which it will be more comfortable for you to watch your favorite movies and programs.

    TV diagonal is the distance measured diagonally from one corner of the TV screen to the other. It is measured in inches.

    One inch always equals 2.54 cm. To correctly indicate the size of the diagonal in inches, you must put double quotes after the number. For example: TV diagonal is 17”. The distance will depend on the size of the diagonal, and the TV will be installed on it.

    The diagonal of the TV must be measured using a centimeter from one corner of the screen to the other

    Existing TV sizes:

    • 14”;
    • 17”;
    • 25”;
    • 32”;
    • 37”;
    • 55”;
    • 80”

    Screen size affects the cost of the TV. The larger the TV, the higher the price. It is also more comfortable and pleasant to watch a TV with a large diagonal.

    TV size: how to choose a diagonal

    Before you start choosing, you need to decide on the type of TV and the place where it will be installed. There are three main types: LCD, Plasma and LED. All of them are safe for sight, as their picture is clearer. But, as for the size of the TV, it depends only on the size of the room in which it will be installed.

    How to choose the size of the TV for comfortable viewing? To do this, you first need to determine the location of the TV. It will hang on the wall or just stand on a special stand.

    When choosing a TV diagonal, you need to pay attention to some basic factors that will help you in this difficult and responsible task.

    You can get acquainted with different sizes and diagonals of TV in hardware stores

    Basic selection parameters:

    • Model type;
    • Resolution format;
    • View distance length.

    The picture quality of the image, as well as the comfort of watching programs and movies, will absolutely depend on the resolution of the television screen, and not only on the size of the diagonal. The higher the screen resolution, the better the image quality. Moreover, if a larger number of points participate in the formation of the picture, then the distance at which you can look will be smaller.

    How to calculate the diagonal of the TV and what you need for this

    Depending on which model you have chosen, you can calculate the size of the TV. That is, calculate the width and height of the selected device, as well as the distance of the intended viewing (the optimal value). A specially designed calculator can help in this matter. To do all these calculations, we need only one value – the size of the diagonal.

    How to calculate the TV diagonal? The simplest thing is to look at the instructions that come with the TV. It will indicate the size of the diagonal.

    If the instructions cannot be found, then you just need to measure this value yourself. The maximum value is 80 inches.

    To calculate the diagonal of the TV, you need to prepare a centimeter

    For measurements, we need:

    • TV;
    • Centimeter;
    • Notepad;
    • Handle.

    The centimeters that you have obtained must be divided by a constant value – 2.54. No matter how much you get – this is the diagonal. For example: if you measured 81.3 cm, then the diagonal will be 32 inches.

    TV size, depending on the distance

    A huge selection of new and modern TVs is able to capture the imagination of many overly demanding consumers. Having bought a TV, it must be correctly installed at a strictly defined distance from the viewing point. This is done for comfort and convenience, as well as so as not to spoil the eyesight.

    The size of the TV will change depending on the distance. The greater the distance, the larger the TV will be.

    To make the correct and convenient selection, specifically for your family, the size of the TV, you need to calculate the viewing distance. The ratio of these sizes can be found in a special table. This table will help you choose the right model. It indicates the permissible distance at which it is safest to watch a certain diagonal of the TV.

    Best 360Hz Monitor 2023 [Buying Guide]

    When it comes to competitive gaming, the higher the refresh rate of a monitor the better, as you get lower input latency and smoother motion clarity.

    In this guide, we’ve picked the top three 360Hz monitors for competitive gaming to narrow down your search!

    Let’s get started.

    • MBR
    • Overclockable to 390Hz

    There are many things competitive players should take into account besides the refresh rate.

    These include a fast enough pixel response time speed to keep up with such a high refresh rate, variable refresh rate support for tear-free gameplay, backlight strobing for reduced perceived motion blur, and more!

    Check out our review summaries below to see what makes these three monitors different from each other and to ensure you’re getting the model that’s most suited for your style of gaming!

    The Pros:

    • Accurate colors
    • Overclockable to 390Hz
    • VRR and MBR support up to 390Hz
    • Plenty of gaming features
    • Fully ergonomic stand

    The Cons:

    • IPS glow and mediocre contrast ratio (as expected from this panel technology)

    About The Monitor

    The Acer Nitro XV252QF is one of the cheapest 360Hz gaming monitors yet it offers better performance and features than some of the more expensive models!

    Image Quality

    The XV252QF is based on a 24. 5″ IPS panel with 178° wide viewing angles, a 400-nit peak brightness, a static contrast ratio of 1,000:1, and a fast 1ms GtG pixel response time speed.

    So, you won’t get quite as deep blacks as that of VA panel displays with a ~3,000:1 contrast ratio, but there are no VA monitors that go to 360Hz anyway.

    Further, thanks to the strong 400-nit peak brightness, the screen can mitigate glare even in well-lit rooms.

    The monitor even has a bit wider color gamut than the standard sRGB color space with a ~115% sRGB gamut volume, providing you with some extra saturation, which can be useful in competitive games by helping you distinguish enemies in certain environments.

    Features

    Two main reasons we recommend the Acer XV252QF are that it’s overclockable to 390Hz and that it supports backlight strobing all the way up to its maximum refresh rate.

    There are 24.5″ 1080p 360Hz IPS models with G-SYNC modules, but these are not overclockable and if you want to use backlight strobing, they’re limited to 240Hz.

    Having a dedicated G-SYNC module has its advantages, but they’re not crucial for competitive gaming since most players use either backlight strobing or uncapped frame rates.

    Even if you wish to use a variable refresh rate, both AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible implementations work without issues up to 390FPS on the XV252QF.

    It also offers standard gaming features, such as crosshair overlays, Black Boost (improves visibility in dark scenes), a refresh rate tracker and various picture presets.

    Check out our full Acer XV252QF review for more information.

    Design & Connectivity

    The stand of the monitor is fairly sturdy and offers a good range of ergonomics, including up to 120mm height adjustment, -5°/25° tilt, +/- 180° swivel, 90° pivot and 100x100mm VESA mount compatibility.

    Connectivity options include DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0 ports (max 240Hz), a headphone jack and dual 2W built-in speakers.

    Alternatives

    • Acer Aopen 25XV2Q – the same monitor, just different branding; pick whichever is cheaper
    • MSI NXG253R, ASUS PG259QN/R, Dell AW2521H – 24. 5″ 1080p 360Hz G-SYNC models. As we’ve mentioned, these aren’t overclockable and can only use MBR up to 240Hz yet they’re usually more expensive than the XV252QF. However, if you find them on a big sale and don’t care about MBR, they’re worth considering.

    The Pros:

    • Impeccable MBR implementation up to 360Hz
    • Plenty of gaming features, including VRR up to 360Hz
    • Fully ergonomic stand with a shading hood and hotkey puck

    The Cons:

    • TN panel with inferior colors and viewing angles

    About The Monitor

    If you want absolute CRT-like motion clarity, the BenQ Zowie XL2566K is for you.

    Image Quality

    Unlike the XV252QF, the BenQ XL2566K uses a TN panel, so it doesn’t have as wide viewing angles or quite as vibrant colors. The contrast ratio and brightness are similar to that of the 360Hz IPS panels at 1,000:1 and 320-nits, respectively.

    However, it offers a faster pixel response time speed for even less ghosting and it has the exceptional DyAc+ backlight strobing implementation for zero motion blur.

    So, if you want the smoothest motion possible and you’re willing to sacrifice a bit of image quality for it, go with the BenQ XL2566K.

    Features

    The monitor supports variable refresh rate up to 360FPS for tear-free gameplay and offers a few additional exclusive features, such as XL Setting To Share (easy import/export of monitor settings among users) and the S. Switch hotkey puck device for quick and remote OSD (On-Screen Display) adjustments.

    Other features include Black eQualizer (improves visibility in dark scenes) and Color Vibrance (increases color saturation).

    Design & Connectivity

    The BenQ Zowie XL2566K is designed for professional gamers and as such offers full ergonomic support (155mm height adjustment, -5°/23° tilt, +/- 45° swivel, 90° pivot and 100x100mm VESA mount compatibility), a sturdy stand that doesn’t take up a lot of desk space, a shading hood and a carrying handle.

    Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports (max 240Hz), DisplayPort 1. 4 and a headphone jack.

    The Pros:

    • High pixel density
    • Wide color gamut
    • Plenty of gaming features, including VRR and ULMB 2 up to 360Hz
    • Fully ergonomic stand, USB hub

    The Cons:

    • IPS glow and mediocre contrast ratio (as expected from this panel technology)

    About The Monitor

    In case you want a monitor that’s great for competitive gaming and graphically-oriented games, as well as content consumption and creation, consider the ASUS PG27AQN.

    Image Quality

    The ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN is based on a 27″ 1440p 360Hz IPS panel. The higher screen resolution provides you with sharper details, which is obviously better for graphically-oriented games, photo/video editing and other use, but it’s also beneficial for competitive gaming.

    Moreover, the ASUS PG27AQN has a wide 98% DCI-P3 color gamut for even more saturated colors that can help enemies stand out more in certain situations.

    Now, most competitive players prefer ~24″ sized screens as you get to see more of the screen at once, that is, you don’t have to move your eyes or neck as much as you would on larger displays.

    This is why the PG27AQN features the 25″ Mode that puts black borders around the screen and displays a 25″ 2368×1332 (or 1920×1080) image. The 1080p resolution will look blurry, but 2368×1332 is displayed natively, resulting in just as sharp image quality as 1440p!

    Features

    The monitor has a dedicated G-SYNC module, which provides tear-free gameplay up to 360FPS and NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer for testing input latency if you have a compatible mouse.

    Other features include ULMB 2 backlight strobing (works all the way up to 360Hz), Dark Boost (improves visibility in dark scenes), crosshair overlays, on-screen timers, a refresh rate tracker and various picture presets.

    The ASUS PG27AQN even supports HDR, but since it’s edge-lit, you only get semi-HDR support. It can still improve the image in some games/scenes, but it’s just a glimpse of what proper HDR can do.

    Check out our full PG27AQN review for more information.

    Design & Connectivity

    The stand of the monitor is robust and offers height adjustment up to 100mm, +/- 25° swivel, -5°/20° tilt, 90° pivot and 100x100mm VESA mount compatibility.

    Connectivity options include DisplayPort 1.4, three HDMI 2.0 ports (max 144Hz), a headphone jack and a dual-USB 3.0 hub.

    Alternatives

    • Acer Predator XB273UF – based on the same panel with similar features

    Conclusion

    That’s it! As you can see, choosing the best 360Hz monitor isn’t that difficult – it all comes down to your budget, PC rig and personal preference.

    The Acer XV252QF offers excellent value for the money if you’re on a tight budget or simply don’t need anything better.

    The BenQ XL2566K might be expensive, especially after considering that it uses a TN panel, but if you want the smoothest motion clarity in this price range, there’s no competition.

    Finally, if you want a single display that’s as good for competitive gaming as it is for other uses, the ASUS PG27AQN is for you.

    NVIDIA proposes to make 1440p/360Hz the new eSports standard instead of boring 1080p

    3DNews Technologies and IT market. News monitors, projectors, TV tuners, TVs… NVIDIA proposes to make 1440p/360 Hz on…

    Until recently, 1080p resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) was considered the best choice for eSports competitions. This resolution provides enough clarity to follow the entire gameplay, and at the same time, it does not overload the GPU, allowing it to process hundreds of frames per second and provide a gaming advantage.

    However, GPUs today have outgrown 1080p, as flagship graphics cards in some games can deliver frame rates much higher than the monitor’s peak refresh rate. Valorant, for example, can be played at high settings at over 500 frames per second on the latest NVIDIA graphics cards, and games like CS: GO “give out” more than 700 frames per second.

    NVIDIA says GeForce RTX 3080 is paired with Intel i9 chip-12900K can play Valorant, CS:GO, Overwatch and Rainbow Six Seige at over 360fps at 1440p. With that in mind, the company believes it’s time to move beyond 1080p.

    It’s understandable that NVIDIA has a motivation to convince gamers to buy expensive GPUs, but it’s also clear that playing at higher screen resolutions provides a competitive advantage. NVIDIA’s own research has found that a 27-inch 1440p display can improve aiming by “up to 3%” compared to 24-inch 1080p monitors currently used by professionals.

    The new “1440p eSports category” begins with four NVIDIA-certified displays: ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQN, AOC AG274QGM – AGON PRO Mini LED, MSI MEG 271Q Mini LED and ViewSonic XG272G-2K Mini LED. The ASUS model is a monitor with a refresh rate of 360Hz, while other models are equipped with mini-LED backlighting and support a maximum frequency of 300Hz.

    All four monitors support G-Sync adaptive frame sync, Esports Vibrance color mode and, more importantly for the target audience, NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer technology for measuring system latency. However, the new monitors also feature a special “1080p mode” that turns off the outer edges of the screen, turning it into a 25-inch “display” capable of 1080p resolution for eligible games.

    This mode will be important for some games – newer esports games may be more graphically rich than older titles, and a 1440p monitor may not be suitable for current esports. Most gamers are still using 1080p resolution (67% according to Steam).

    Is the 360Hz Monitor Suitable for Gaming?

    A 360Hz monitor only makes sense if your computer can deliver at least 300 fps

    360Hz monitors take gaming to the next level. But are they really worth the money? We have the answers for you in this article.

    A 360Hz monitor is well worth it if you mainly play fast-paced competitive games and have a PC that can consistently deliver at least 300 fps.

    Also consider where you’re coming from: if you still have a 60Hz monitor, it’s definitely worth upgrading to a 360Hz monitor if you can afford it.

    But if you already have a 144Hz or 240Hz monitor, getting a 360Hz monitor is only worth it if you can actually notice a slight visual difference.

    What is the Monitor Refresh Rate?

    The refresh rate, measured in hertz (Hz), is the number of times the monitor redraws the image displayed per second. For example, a 60Hz monitor displays a new image 60 times per second, which converts to a new image every 16.67 milliseconds.

    A high refresh rate is practically useless if you intend to use your computer primarily for tasks such as typing and browsing the web.

    But for PC gaming, high refresh rates make a huge difference. It provides quick transitions between images, allowing you to react faster. This is especially useful if you play competitive shooters like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Valorant.

    Plus Monitors 360 Hz

    A 360Hz monitor provides a smoother gaming experience, especially when you play first-person shooters, racing games, and other games with dynamic graphics.

    Because your monitor refreshes at a faster rate, namely every 2.78 milliseconds, it allows you to respond more quickly to screen changes, potentially improving your gaming performance.

    While it won’t turn you into a god-level esports player overnight, having a 360Hz monitor gives you an edge, at least in terms of hardware.

    If you want to buy a 360Hz monitor, you probably don’t really care if the image quality drops as long as you get smoother performance.

    Good news: 360Hz monitors are now available with IPS panels, which offer better colors and wider viewing angles than TN panels. This means you still get good image quality on top of an extremely high refresh rate.

    Cons of 360Hz Monitors

    Unfortunately, there are other reasons why a 360Hz monitor is not worth it for most people, even those with the money to spend on the latest computer technology.

    First, few people can really tell the difference between 144Hz, 240Hz and 360Hz monitors. It’s easy to see a difference when refreshing from a 60Hz monitor, but not much if you’re using a monitor with an already high refresh rate.

    Here’s an example: A 240Hz monitor redraws the image every 4.17 milliseconds. This is a difference of only 1.4 milliseconds. For a 144Hz monitor, the difference is 4.16 milliseconds.

    Yes, those tiny millisecond differences are a big advantage for some competitive players. But for the average player they are trivial. If you can’t tell the difference between 144Hz and 240Hz, then it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to experience the increased fluidity that a 360Hz monitor provides.

    Secondly, you need to have a certain gaming preference and a powerful computer to really appreciate what 360Hz monitors have to offer.

    If you mainly play turn-based RPGs, strategy games, and other slow-paced games, then a 360Hz monitor is a waste of money. This is most beneficial for competitive games where graphics are less important.

    In addition, your computer must also be powerful enough to continuously transmit at least 300 frames per second. It’s pointless to buy a 360Hz monitor if your computer is struggling to hit 100fps in the games you normally play.

    Finally, your options are still limited if you want to buy a 360Hz monitor, not to mention you’ll need to spend at least $500 for one – a hefty price tag for most people.

    It’s great that currently available 360Hz monitors are available with IPS panel technology. But your screen size and resolution options are much more limited compared to 144Hz monitors, which strike a good balance between image quality, performance and price.
