We love having pets in our home. But the pet stains and hair that accompany them? Not so much. Pet hair removal is an especially daunting task. Whether you have cats or dogs, their fur clings tightly to fabrics and gets stuck in hard-to-reach places—giving even the most dependable vacuum a challenge if it isn’t the best vacuum for pet hair. But don’t fret, there are pet vacuums designed specifically for picking up pesky pet hair!
We researched the best pet vacuums and put them to the test in our own hairy households, gauging whether their suction, maneuverability and special features could stand up to real-life pets (and kids). These are the standout models that lived up to our expectations.
The best vacuums for pet hair, tested and reviewed
Best overall: Dyson Outsize Plus Vacuum
Best value: Eureka Powerspeed Turbo Spotlight
Best budget: Fabuletta 6-in-1 Cordless Lightweight Vacuum for Pet Hair
Best reviewed on Amazon: Bissell CleanView Swivel Pet Vacuum
Best vacuum mop: Tineco iFloor 3 Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum
Best vacuum mop runner-up: Bissell Crosswave X7 Cordless Pet Pro Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuum
Best stick vacuum: Black+Decker Powerseries Extreme Cordless Stick Vacuum
Best for furniture: Bissell MultiClean Allergen Lift-Off Pet Vacuum
It’s bad enough that my pit bull mix, Ernie, sheds a lot, but his fur actually weaves deep into carpet and upholstery as if it were part of the fabric. Most vacuums and pet hair removers simply don’t discern between the two. Until the Dyson Outsize Plus. There are pet hair vacuums and then there are pet hair vacuums.
While the initial unboxing of this cordless vacuum and all its parts had me overwhelmed, I quickly discovered that it came packaged with everything I needed (and better yet, didn’t even realize I needed) to completely de-fur my home. The Digital Motorbar XL head deep cleaned my carpets and hard surfaces while clearing wrapped pet hair from the brush as it went. I used it all over my hardwood floors and area rugs while quietly thanking Dyson for switching to an even larger canister bin than their previous models. And after clearing the floors of fur, the Laser Slim Fluffy Cleaner Head illuminated microscopic dust and debris with a—you guessed it—green laser beam, so no trace went undetected.
The vacuum features four additional attachments for convenient, effective cleaning of just about every surface of your home and car. My favorite attachment was the Hair Screw Tool, which strongly gripped the furriest of surfaces, such as my dog’s bed or dog car hammock, to completely rid it of stubborn fur.
While I don’t have carpet, my parents do, and they dog sit for me often. I tested the hair-suctioning power of the Digital Motorbar XL on a strip of carpet and was amazed and embarrassed (and ultimately wondering if I would need to find new dog sitters) after seeing how much pet hair was pulled into the bin.
The vacuum LCD screen allows you to choose between three power modes or auto, which automatically adjusts suctioning power based on floor type. It also displays remaining run time (a feature I love), which is extra long thanks to the additional battery pack. While the Dyson Outsize Plus is heavier than other cordless, stick vacuums, I feel it’s a fair trade off in exchange for a powerful, effective vacuum that picks up more hair and needs emptying less often!
Pros
Extra large head deep cleans pet hair and dirt from carpets and hardwood floors
Features detangling vanes that prevent hair from catching on brush
Cordless vacuum with docking station and two batteries for extended run time (up to 120 minutes)
Extra large cannister means you empty the bin less often
Multiple attachments for all cleaning needs and surfaces, including Hair Screw Tool and Crevice Tool
Smart display shows remaining run time and allows you to select suctioning power mode (or auto mode changes based on floor type detected)
Cons
Must continuously hold power button in order for vacuum to run
Heavier than other cordless stick vacuums (specifically top heavy due to larger canister)
Does not stand on its own when out of docking station (some reviewers complained of vacuum accidentally falling over between vacuuming breaks)

Best value vacuum for pet hair
Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight
Tested by Caroline Lubinsky, Senior Shopping Editor
The Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight is the inexpensive vacuum every pet owner needs. My lab/pit mix, Kobe, sheds like his life depends on it. If we don’t vacuum multiple times per week, the off-white living room rug turns into a dishwater gray speckled with Kobe hairs. However, I’m happy to report his fur was no match for this budget vacuum. I was impressed by the PowerSpeed’s ability to pick up embedded pet hair (I didn’t even need to use a carpet rake to agitate!). Once his bevvy of dog hair collects in the 2.6-liter dust pan, I simply press a button over our trash can and the canister empties.
Besides the handy LED headlights, this under-$100 vacuum comes with a crevice tool, a turbo pet brush and an upholstery tool. I was able to clean everything from couch cushions to Kobe’s bed in one swoop. Oh, and did I mention it’s light? At just 10 pounds, it’s easy to take from room to room or even up a staircase. You’ll be able to eradicate your home’s pet hair easily and on a budget. What could be better than that?
Pros
Budget friendly without losing quality
Powerful suction for picking up dog fur
Lightweight and easy to maneuver
Comes with upholstery and crevice tool attachments
Works well on hardwood floor and thin carpet
Retractable cord and bagless design
LED headlights
2-year warranty
Cons
Does not perform well on high-pile carpets
Not cordless

Best budget vacuum
Fabuletta 6-in-1 Cordless Lightweight Vacuum
Tested by Nancy Snyder, Senior Shopping Editor, Pets
I have a pit bull mix that sheds all over my hardwood floors. I wanted a lightweight vacuum that was quick and easy to use on the regular, but didn’t take up too much space in the closet. As a dog mom, I also wanted something that wasn’t too loud (let’s be honest, keeping the dog from attacking the vacuum is sometimes half the battle of cleaning).
The Fabuletta 6-in-1 cordless lightweight vacuum checked all of the boxes, and did so at a fairly affordable price. Despite being ultra lightweight and fairly quiet, it powerfully sucked up hair and dirt from the floor. And the base features LED lights to illuminate dark corners and crevices, so you don’t miss a thing. I can even use it to give the dog bed an occasional cleaning! It comes equipped with a rechargeable battery, an optional wall-mount and two attachments—a dusting brush and crevice tool—for keeping my couch (and the hard-to-reach areas underneath it) hair free. An added bonus? It features a re-usable HEPA filter to clean and purify the air of pet dander while you vacuum.
Pros
Budget friendly
Lightweight, compact and fairly quiet (dog approved!)
Works on multiple surfaces and fabrics
Flexible swivel brush with LED lights for a more thorough cleaning
Two additional attachments—dust brush and crevice tool
Re-usable HEPA air filter (a vacuum and air filter in one)
Easy, one-click dustbin release
Cons
Re-chargeable battery runs for only up to 45 minutes, depending on setting (more than enough time for my needs, but larger areas may require more charging)
Dustbin may need to be emptied frequently if using in multi-pet households or larger areas

Bissell Cleanview Swivel Pet Rewind
Tested by Reina Galhea, Deputy Shopping Editor
Not only does the Bissell Cleanview Swivel Pet Rewind tackle pet hair embedded in carpets, scattered across hardwood and woven into furniture upholstery, it features a simple fix for a universal problem with vacuums—having to wrap the power cord. No matter how many times I use it (and I’ve used it about once a week for a year and a half now), I never get tired of pressing the rewind button and watching the cord suck back into the vacuum base. The thirty seconds it saves me is almost as gratifying as how powerful of a cleaning tool this vacuum is.
Thanks to its three extra attachments (in addition to the standard tube and angled hose ends), I clean all kinds of different fabrics and surfaces with ease—floors, furniture, blankets, you name it. The TurboEraser®, a spinning hose attachment that functions like a handheld vacuum, is my go-to for cleaning the couch and the cat tree. And as for the “swivel” part of the name? This vacuum maneuvers around corners with a simple turn of my wrist, meaning I don’t have to rearrange the furniture just to get the carpets clean.
More than 20,000 Amazon reviewers agree that this vacuum is powerful, easy to use and affordable. Take it from five-star reviewer Laura, who asks, is loving a vacuum weird? “This thing is phenomenal,” she says. “Super easy to put together, maneuver, and then whoooaaaaa…does it do its job. I have one dog and 2 kids. I typically vacuum at least twice a week. This first time I used this vacuum I [was] equal parts horrified and fascinated by how much dog hair it pulled out of my rugs and furniture.”
Pros
Cord rewind feature saves time (and your lower back!)
Powerful suction that nabs pet hair across surfaces
Three extra hose attachments that store conveniently on the vacuum
Bagless design with a detachable dirt chamber and easy-empty latches
Cons
Attachments not in use have a tendency to fall off the unit while vacuuming

Best vacuum mop combo
Tineco iFloor 3 Vacuum Mop
Tested byMegan Wood, Executive Editor, Shopping
I consider myself a clean freak. I’d confidently eat anything that dropped on the ground. After all, my floors were super clean, right? Right? Wrong. I tried the Tineco iFloor 3 Vacuum Mop, and the dirty water tank told a completely different story.
Unlike your regular mop, which pushes dirty water around your floor, this vacuum has two tanks: one for clean water and one for dirty water. The suction pulls up dirt, dog hair, dust and debris while the damp spongy roller washes the floors. I can usually suck up a pile of dog food and mop a muddy footprint away with just one gentle pass.
After my full review of the Tineco iFloor 3, I swear this mop changed my entire cleaning life. I’ve vacuum-mopped my floor about 100 times, and the water tank still comes out as black as a cup of coffee. I used to think I could get my floors to a perfectly clean state, but now I know I have to just keep on charging the iFloor 3.
I’ve now been using this vacuum for almost two years, and have since welcomed a second dog and a baby into my home. The iFloor 3 has held up to the extra dog hair, spit up and miscellaneous spills without missing a spot or needing any replacement parts.
Pros
Cordless—no tripping on wires or having to plug and unplug
Smart digital display alerts you when the vacuum is charged or if it’s blocked
Docking station stores, cleans and charges the vacuum
Quiet (I can watch TV while I vacuum!)
Cons
Sometimes I’m ready to vacuum but the battery needs to charge
You may have to refill the water tank mid-clean in larger homes (though the Tineco S5 has a larger water tank if you want to upgrade)
Not for use on carpets or rugs

Best vacuum mop runner-up
Bissell CrossWave X7 Cordless Pet Pro Wet Dry Vacuum
Tested byDawn Yanek, Senior Editor
I am always vacuuming and mopping my hardwood and tile floors, and honestly, who has time to do both of those things every day? Not me, which is why I was thrilled that the Bissell Crosswave X7 wet-dry vacuum lived up to its hype.
The CrossWave X7 boasts three settings—Hard Floors, Area Rugs and Turbo Pet—and comes with two containers of cleaning solution. A button starts the vacuum, and a trigger activates the mop, which has an LED light to illuminate the spot you’re working on. I particularly loved how easy it was to switch back and forth between these features, just in case I missed some crushed Cheerios next to the now-dried pet (or kid?) stain. I also have a lot of long hair that tends to get everywhere, and I was worried that it would get tangled in the plush roller brush. But nope—the suction funneled it right into the tank without a problem. Plus, this genius vacuum mop somehow made my old area rugs look brand-new in 60 seconds flat.
Just be aware that if you’re using this on a large space, you’ll have to frequently refill the tank with water and solution, and also empty the second tank full of dirty water and grime. That said, it’s a small price to pay for getting rid of all that grossness, which you won’t believe was actually on your floors before the X7 worked its magic. Once you do realize it, trust me—you’ll be using this brilliant little machine all. the. time.
After a few years of testing, I’m happy to report this trusty little vacuum mop is still hands-down the best cleaning product I own. I love that it allows me to multitask easily, not just switching between vacuuming and mopping with the press of a button, but also between hardwood, tile and carpeted floors with another. The only issue that has popped up is that it occasionally gets a little glitchy and shuts off shortly after I turn it on. According to Bissell’s website, this may be the result of excess hair getting tangled in the brush, though fixing the issue doesn’t always seem to be quite so cut and dry. That said, I’ve managed to get it working again every time, and I think the key here is running the self-cleaning cycle a little more regularly.
Pros
Switches between vacuuming and mopping by pressing a trigger
Effectively at eliminating both hair and stains
Works on both hard floors and area rugs
Self-cleaning
Cons
The vacuum doesn’t pick up larger, elevated items (like popcorn)
You’ll need to refill and empty the tanks frequently if you’re working on a big space
May get glitchy after some use (which may be prevented with regular maintenance)
With two elementary school-age kids and one medium-size rescue dog in the house, I’m sweeping and vacuuming on a daily basis. I have a robot vacuum that I run regularly in my bedroom, but I find it cumbersome to lug up and down the stairs so it can access all areas of my house. Besides, I typically find a few errant Legos or hair ties on the bottom floor of my house—not ideal for a robot vac to suck up.
The Black+Decker stick vac appealed to me because it’s lightweight and cordless. At 10.5 pounds, it’s easy to move around and maneuver, with no cord in the way. I love the LED floorhead light that literally shines a light on dog hair, crumbs and other dirt that I otherwise might not have seen. When fully charged, it runs for 55 minutes—ample time for me to vacuum the areas I want to without it running out of charge.
My initial thoughts upon testing: The vacuum does an excellent job on the hardwood floors, even sucking up debris from the crevices. I found it to be about 80% effective when it came to picking up dog hairs from carpet and upholstery (but, to be fair, I’ve yet to find a vacuum that picks up 100% of pet hair). To really get it out, I use the ChomChom roller.
After a few years of consistently using this vacuum, I’m happy to report it has held up really well! (I can’t speak as highly about the Lego situation.)
Pros
Lightweight
Useful as a stick vac or handheld vacuum—ideal for stairs or your car
LED floorhead light ensures no dirt is left behind
Cons
Not 100% effective at removing pet hair
The clips for the battery and different vacuum heads are difficult to get on and off (I assume they’ll loosen over time)
When I emptied the canister, some debris got stuck in the crevices and I had to work it out with a pen or other tool

Bissell MultiClean Allergen Lift-Off Pet Pro
Tested byKelly Kuehn, Associate Editor
The Bissell MultiClean is a must-have for pet parents. Upon initial testing, I was baffled by how much of my dog’s hair this lightweight vacuum sucked up within the first five minutes of use—it nabbed so much hair and dirt and thoroughly cleaned my carpet.
Now, a year later, I can’t believe I didn’t make this game-changing vacuum a cleaning staple in my home sooner! The vacuum is still going strong, sucking up a plethora of hidden dog hairs and dirt each day. My favorite part continues to be the TurboEraser® eraser attachment, which rids the furniture of my pup’s stubborn (and, I swear, endless) hair with ease. I actually look forward to vacuuming now, since it does such a good job. Can’t wait to see how it holds up in year two.
Pros
Attachments make it easy to clean every nook and cranny of the house (including furniture)
Lightweight and easy to move
Lift-off feature makes it even easier to maneuver
Picks up a lot of pet hair quickly
Cons
TurboEraser® attachment is a bit loud when in use
Suction is better on carpet compared to bare floors (but it still does a great job on my kitchen floor)

Best robot vacuum
Shark IQ Robot Vacuum with Self-Empty Base
Tested byMarisa Hillman, Shopping Writer
If you cringe at having to vacuum your floors, let a robot vacuum do it for you. That’s what I did. With the Shark IQ Robot Vacuum, I don’t have to think about vacuuming for up to 45 days. That’s because once the vacuum mapped my home, I scheduled whole-home cleanings (or specific rooms when things needed to be cleaned ASAP) using the SharkClean app. It also works with voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. When the robot gets full, it takes itself back to its self-emptying base. Once it empties itself, it resumes cleaning wherever it left off.
I have been using this system every day for almost three years, and considering that I have four children and a lab that sheds like crazy, this vacuum is almost always running! There’s no denying that this robot has incredibly powerful suction, and I love how easily it goes from hardwood to carpet and back again. Plus, its self-cleaning brush roll prevents both human and pet hair from becoming wrapped around it, so I never have to break out the scissors.
Pros
Allows for completely hands-off vacuuming
High-efficiency filter that traps 99% of dust, dander and pet allergens down to 1 micron
Self-cleaning
Compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
Cons
Requires a smart phone or virtual assistant to access all features

Best handheld vacuum
Bissell Pet Hair Eraser
Tested by Reina Galhea, Deputy Shopping Editor
The delightful part about having a ginger tabby is that his orange fur shows up on both dark and light surfaces, meaning my vacuum is permanently glued to my hand. And while I love my Bissell CleanView Swivel Rewind for bigger pet messes, it’s a pain to plug in from room to room when I’m spot cleaning. Enter: the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.
The newest version of the Pet Hair Eraser comes with three suction attachments: a motorized brush, an upholstery tool and a crevice nozzle. Though the upholstery attachment didn’t seem to improve the vacuum’s function during my testing, the motorized brush was a wonder for removing fur from my couch, velvet office chair and cat bed (all of the fur baby’s highly-trafficked areas). I gave the crevice tool the ultimate test—the cat tree. I’m pleased to report it sucked up all the hair, claws fragments, stray litter and shredded rope from the tree itself, where Big Red gives himself a daily manicure. (It’s the only piece of furniture this cat is allowed to scratch.)
Though it doesn’t compare to the suction power of an upright vacuum, the Pet Hair Eraser is perfect for those trickier areas that a larger vacuum couldn’t reach. Even after a year, I find myself reaching for the Pet Hair Eraser on a daily basis to spot clean around the house. I’ve found that it works better for one-off messes (like vacuuming up the remnants of a carpet stain I treated with Angry Orange) than for continuous cleaning because of the long charge time, but it’s such a handy tool for keeping things tidy when I don’t want to break out the upright vacuum. And for a pet parent, it’s invaluable. See my full review of the Pet Hair Eraser here.
Pros
Reaches nooks and crannies most other vacuums miss
Works on various fabrics, including blankets, hard surfaces, carpet and furniture
Relatively quiet
Cons
Requires eight hours to charge
Not the best choice for large areas

What to look for in a vacuum for pet hair
When looking for the best vacuum for pet hair, the two most important features for pet owners are suction power and filtration. According to Dyson Design Manager Josh Mutlow, “It’s vital that your machine has strong suction power across all floor types to ensure high performance, as carpets require much more suction power to deliver a proper clean than hard floors.”
And when it comes to a good filtration system, Mutlow says, “Most people who own vacuums don’t know there’s a filter in their vacuum, let alone how well it performs, so having a high-quality filtration system when you have a pet is very important.” As Mutlow points out, pet hair also means dander, which can cause allergies. He recommends a vacuum that features advanced, whole-machine filtration that only expels clean air.
After suction and filtration, pay attention to technology and features. Mutlow suggests looking for attachments and cleaner heads that contain brush bars, providing agitation on surfaces for optimal hair pickup. Attachments that include anti-tangle technology are also key. Not only do they help pick up hair, dirt and debris that are ground into the floor, they also help capture dander, pollen and other microscopic bacteria that might have made their way in from outside.

Key Specs
Navigation style: bump and run
Capacity: 0.08 gallons (0. 3 liters)
Run time: 90 minutes
Dimensions: 11.8 inches wide by 3 inches high
Of the 10 robot vacuums we tested, the iLife V3S Pro was the best at removing pet hair without clogging, thanks to its lack of roller brushes. At around $160, it costs hundreds less than most robot vacuums.
The iLife V3S Pro does a great job removing pet hair and cat litter from hardwood floor and low carpet. It uses bump-and-run navigation, rather than mapping, and it can’t avoid cords or poop like the Roomba j7+ can, but it’ll clean your whole space eventually. It can’t empty itself, unlike more expensive robots, and it doesn’t have a bin fill indicator. But if you make it a habit to empty the dust bin every day, it’ll drastically cut down on pet hair in your space for very little effort on your part.
If you have money to spare and want a robot vacuum that’s smarter than you are, consider the iRobot Roomba j7+. Unlike the iLife V3S Pro, it’s not bump-and-run: It maps your house, including no-go zones, and it has built-in object detection that helps it avoid power cords, headphones and — most importantly — pet waste, so you can hopefully avoid pooptastrophe.
The j7+ is self-emptying, unlike the iLife V3S Pro, which needs to be emptied after each run, and its rubber multi-surface brushes were second only to the V3S Pro, which has no brushes at all, in avoiding pet hair tangles. The Dirt Detect feature lets it focus on specific messes, like a cat litter spill, and go back over the area until it’s clean.
The Roomba j7+ is the best robot vacuum you can buy, but it’s expensive, and in our testing its self-empty cycle briefly made a noise like a jet engine. If you have the money, though, and especially if you have pets prone to pooping inside, it’s a compelling upgrade over the iLife V3S Pro.

Key Specs
Weight: 6. 68 pounds
Capacity: 0.2 gallon
Battery life: 30-45 minutes in Auto or Boost mode, up to 60 minutes in Eco mode.
The Dyson V11 Animal is the best cordless stick vacuum for pet hair, and the best stick vacuum of the seven we tested. If you live in an apartment or smaller home, it might even be the only vacuum you need. Its swiveling floor head makes fast work of pet hair and dust even in high-pile carpets, and in handheld mode, the crevice tool and mini motorized brush tool are fantastic for cleaning upholstered furniture, cat towers and pet beds. It’s lightweight, maneuverable and cordless, so getting the vacuum out isn’t a hassle like it can be for upright and canister vacuums.
The V11 Animal’s biggest weakness is battery life. At its automatic and Boost settings, it gets 30 to 45 minutes of runtime, which might not be enough. Unlike other stick vacuums with swappable batteries, the Dyson’s rechargeable battery is built in, so once it’s out of juice, you have to wait for it to recharge. The Dyson also uses a trigger-style power switch, which you have to hold down the entire time you’re vacuuming — it’s fine for smaller tasks, but you might find it taxing if you’re cleaning an entire apartment.
Lindsay Boyers/CNN Underscored
Key Specs
Weight: 17.75 pounds
Capacity: 0.26 gallon (1 liter)
Cord length: 30 feet
Hose length: 8 feet
If you have a home too large to vacuum in a single charge of a stick vacuum, especially one with lots of carpet, you should consider a corded upright vacuum. While larger, heavier and less maneuverable than cordless stick vacuums, they have higher suction, and won’t run out of charge.
The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lift-Off Upright is the best upright vacuum for pet hair, thanks to its Pet Turboeraser mini brush tool, which does a better job removing pet hair from stairs and upholstery than the five other uprights we tested (though it’s powered by suction, rather than motorized, so it won’t be as effective as a motorized pet hair tool like the one on the Kenmore BC4026 canister vacuum, below).
The Pet Hair Eraser’s lift-off feature means the canister, hose, wand and motor detach from the floor head, so you can easily use it to vacuum upholstery, drapes, fixtures and other things above floor level. At 18 pounds, the vacuum isn’t the lightest of the six upright vacuums we tested, and it’s not the best on hard floors, but it’s the best upright option for people with pets. However, people with dust or dander sensitivities should consider a bagged canister vacuum rather than a bagless upright like the Bissell.
Nathan Edwards/CNN Underscored
Key Specs
Weight: 22 pounds
Dustbag capacity: 0.8 gallon (3 liters)
Cord length: 28 feet
Hose length: 6.5 feet, including handle
Wand length: 22-33 inches
For folks with pets, carpets and dust or dander sensitivities, a canister vacuum can offer even more powerful suction, deeper carpet cleaning and better air filtration than an upright. The Kenmore BC4026 Pet-Friendly Pop-N-Go isn’t particularly maneuverable, even by canister vacuum standards, but its electric floor sweeper brush pulls an unbelievable amount of dust and pet hair from the thickest of carpets. Like the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser upright, it has a mini turbo brush (here called a Pet Powermate) that makes quick work of cat hair on cat trees, microfiber upholstery and pet beds. Unlike the Bissell, Kenmore’s version is motorized, so you can change the suction level without changing the brush speed, which really helps get pet hair off of upholstery without inhaling the fabric.
Both the dust bag and exhaust filter of the BC4026 are HEPA-compliant, and offer much better air filtration and dust containment than a bagless vacuum, as well as three times the dust capacity of the Dyson V11 Animal stick vacuum or Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lift-Off Upright. But that’s at the cost of portability and maneuverability; at 22 pounds, the Kenmore is 4 pounds more than the Bissell upright, and neither its floor head nor canister are as nimble. But for sheer power, you can’t beat a canister vac, and the Kenmore is far more affordable than the much more maneuverable Miele Complete C3 Kona.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is the best handheld vacuum for pet hair — it has a motorized brush that lets it pick up pet hair from upholstery, floors, in the car and everywhere else we found the stuff (which, as you know if you’re a cat or dog parent, is pretty much everyplace). Even though the Pet Hair Eraser is on the larger side (thanks to its sizable canister) at 17 inches long and weighs around 3 pounds, it’s still well balanced and comfortable to use.
cnn.com/_components/paragraph/instances/cl13s17u800403e6rp8c465to@published” data-editable=”text” data-component-name=”paragraph”>
The motorized pet hair brush attaches securely and let us get at dog hair embedded deep in carpeting, rugs, and couches, and even in our test vehicle’s carpeting. The 23.6 ounce canister—the largest of all the handheld vacuums we tested—sucked up a large amount of hair before needing to be emptied, and along with the 17-minute runtime let us work until the job was truly complete, and the long crevice tool and flat upholstery brush let us get into nooks and crannies where the motorized main brush couldn’t go.
The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is versatile enough that you could use it as your only handheld vacuum. whether you’re looking for something to use around the house or to keep your car clean, though it’s extra power and capacity makes it a bit bulkier and a bit more cumbersome to handle than some of its competitors. You might look elsewhere if you are looking to pick up after kids, as the nozzle was too narrow to suck up Cheerios. It also doesn’t have a charging base, but comes with a wall-wart power supply cable — a less convenient setup than our other favorite handheld vacuums.

The bristles on a vacuum’s brush head are designed to agitate carpet and to lift dust, debris and hair from the floor. As anyone who’s used a hairbrush knows, though, over time hairs get caught in the bristles. If you have pets that shed a lot, the hair can accumulate so fast on the brush that it clogs the vacuum, lowering suction or preventing the brush from turning at all. That’s why many companies sell vacuums optimized for pet hair, with brushes designed not to clog on hair, along with powered mini brush head attachments to get pet hair off of upholstery and stairs.
Pet-specific vacuums often include HEPA filters, aimed at controlling dust, dander and pet-related allergens in general. If you’re concerned about such issues, you may want to seek out a bagged vacuum rather than a bagless model; the bag provides an extra filtration stage and also lets you avoid dust spillage when emptying.
If you have a houseful of cats and dogs, a canister vacuum or upright vacuum will give you the power and tools to deal with animal hair, dander and dust on any surface. These corded units have more-powerful motors and stronger suction and pet-friendly models offer powered brushes designed to make short work of hair without clogging. While they may be a little more ungainly than cordless sticks, they won’t run out of power midway through your weekly cleaning.
An apartment or small house can likely get by with a cordless stick vacuum, especially if you have mostly bare floors. If you have a large house or lots of carpet, an upright or canister vacuum is a better choice; they can provide more suction than cordless stick vacuum, and won’t run out of batteries in the middle of a job. Many of these also double as handheld vacuums, which are great for keeping upholstery hair-free or for tackling small pet-associated messes.
A robot vacuum probably shouldn’t be your only vacuum if you’re trying to clean up after pets, but it’s a great complement to a cordless stick, upright or canister vacuum. Running a robot vacuum daily can keep the day-to-day buildup of fuzz to a manageable minimum so your weekly chores are less of a chore. The small roller brushes on most robot vacuums can clog quickly with pet hair, however, so you’ll want to pay attention to regular maintenance. Our current favorite in the category, the iLife V3S Pro, avoids this nagging issue by not using a roller brush at all.
The best vacuum cleaners for wool, top 9 rating of vacuum cleaners for animals
Subscribe to our VK community!
Pets in apartments, private houses or cottages are not uncommon. Most people get dogs and cats, in other words, those animals that are subject to seasonal molting, and it happens even in pets that do not leave the premises and do not go outside. You can remove the fallen hair in different ways – someone does it the old fashioned way with a brush or a damp cloth, but most people still prefer modern vacuum cleaners.
A fairly wide selection of such products is on sale, but not every user knows how to correctly select such equipment and make it so that it has optimal functionality. It is for them that we have developed a rating of the best vacuum cleaners for cleaning animal hair. In this article, we will detail all the main characteristics of the most popular models on the market, as well as give some useful tips that will surely help you in making this purchase.
Rating summary: (hide/show)
How to choose the right vacuum cleaner for cleaning animal hair in 2023?
The highlight is the suction power of the device. It is advisable to give preference to products in which this figure is at least 400 W, but in general, the more, the better. Otherwise, the vacuum cleaner will not be able to tighten fine hairs. It is very important that this value does not decrease as the dust and dirt container fills up. This is fully satisfied by multi-cyclone designs, as well as vacuum cleaners that collect dust in a bag and are equipped with a directed air flow.
The type of dust collector is also taken into account, which can be presented in the form of a bag, container or aquafilter. In the first case, disposable paper bags are more suitable – they do not have to be cleaned: a full bag is taken out of the vacuum cleaner, thrown away and a new one is installed in its place. The containers are also quite convenient, they are easy to clean, if necessary, they can be washed under running water, but they work more noisily, and are also not always able to cope with small dust particles. Aquafilter is the most effective, but it costs more than others. When passing through the water tank, dust remains in it and does not scatter around the room. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to clean parquet or carpets made of natural wool with such a vacuum cleaner. The principle of cleaning does not really matter – vacuum cleaners are dry or wet cleaning, as well as combined. Models with a wet cleaning function, as well as combined options, are suitable if the animal periodically goes outside and, in addition to wool, leaves behind other contaminants.
To trap dust and small animal hairs, the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a high-quality HEPA 14, 13 or 12 filter. Filters of a lower class do not cope well with their functions. When we chose models to include in our rating of the best vacuum cleaners for cleaning animal hair, we took into account all the points discussed above. In addition, we have studied many user reviews so that only the most popular and high-quality products are included in the review.

4. Samsung VCC885Fh4R/XEV
Very high power rating. It is so large that in reviews, users often do not advise physically weak people to buy this device. Despite the fact that the model has been on the market since 2014, it still has not lost its relevance, therefore it continues to be produced until today. Consumes over 2 kW of electricity with a suction power of 430 watts. Such qualities allow you to pick up even the thinnest hairs from hard-to-reach places.
The cost is quite reasonable, and the quality of cleaning is very high. The exterior design is beautiful, the case is made of plastic, has a streamlined shape. There is a special regulator on the surface of the body, with the help of which the suction force is changed. The mass of the device is decent – as much as 10 kg with overall dimensions of 35x36x49 cm, which makes the vacuum cleaner not very suitable for a small apartment. How to choose an animal hair vacuum cleaner?
The choice of a reliable wool vacuum cleaner should be based on the study of the following parameters:
device type. In stores you can find classic bag or cyclone cleaners, as well as improved vertical models with a battery. Devices with a removable battery are considered more convenient to use, but standard devices provide a larger working area;
power indicator. Classic models differ from battery models in higher power and higher efficiency. If the indicator of the former varies between 1700-2200 W, then the latter have a power of 300-600 W;
tank or dust container capacity. The larger the waste and wool bin, the longer the appliance can run without emptying the dust bin. Conventional models are equipped with a 2-4L container, while battery models have a 0.3-0.6L tank;
ergonomics. For comfortable use, the vacuum cleaner must have a long power cord and a telescopic tube. It doesn’t hurt to have a clear control panel, additional interchangeable nozzles and an automatic cable rewind function;
noise level. Customers say that working with low noise equipment is much more pleasant. That is why it is better to give preference to a vacuum cleaner with a sound power rating of no higher than 80 dB – this is an acceptable level that does not cause discomfort.

Alex Rennie/CNN Underscored
Andrea Smith/CNN Underscored

The choice of a reliable wool vacuum cleaner should be based on the study of the following parameters:
device type. In stores you can find classic bag or cyclone cleaners, as well as improved vertical models with a battery. Devices with a removable battery are considered more convenient to use, but standard devices provide a larger working area;
power indicator. Classic models differ from battery models in higher power and higher efficiency. If the indicator of the former varies between 1700-2200 W, then the latter have a power of 300-600 W;
tank or dust container capacity. The larger the waste and wool bin, the longer the appliance can run without emptying the dust bin. Conventional models are equipped with a 2-4L container, while battery models have a 0.3-0.6L tank;
ergonomics. For comfortable use, the vacuum cleaner must have a long power cord and a telescopic tube. It doesn’t hurt to have a clear control panel, additional interchangeable nozzles and an automatic cable rewind function;
noise level. Customers say that working with low noise equipment is much more pleasant. That is why it is better to give preference to a vacuum cleaner with a sound power rating of no higher than 80 dB – this is an acceptable level that does not cause discomfort.

WiFi Enabled Security Camera System – The Pros and Cons
Compare Products
My Quote
25% of wireless cameras get returned.
WiFi cameras are extremely popular, but part of our commitment is to provide what is best for people rather than just the easiest thing to sell.
There are many companies that sell wireless cameras. However, most of those cameras do not perform the way that consumers expect.
Wireless doesn’t always mean WiFi.
Before we get started talking about WiFi cameras, let’s make sure we’re on the same page. There are three wireless technologies that cameras most often use: radio, WiFi, and point-to-point line-of-sight beam technologies.
Radio Frequency cameras send analog video over radio signals. They are essentially the video version of a walkie-talkie. The quality looks like a 1990’s cell phone.
We don’t recommend (or sell) the radio frequency technology because it doesn’t actually work for security. The resolution is too low and the connection too prone to static. Savvy consumers shouldn’t even consider radio-based security cameras as an option.
If you want to know more about long-range, military-grade, point-to-point, WiFi beam technologies, check out the guide and video here.
Ok, back to our guide on wifi security cameras.
Consumer-Grade WiFi Security Cameras
SCW does sell one of these, but it is important to know how consumer-grade WiFi cameras work in order to use it as it was designed.
Just like with radiofrequency cameras, consumers are often disappointed with WiFi cameras, as seen by most WiFi camera reviews.
Why people are often disappointed with WiFi cameras
1.
WiFi cameras only work where you have a WiFi signal that connects back to your WiFi router.
Exterior walls block and degrade WiFi signals. They will cause your cameras to disconnect and not show any video.
Here’s what the average signal strength looks like in a small home:
Moving away from the yellow sections of this signal strength map, connections are more likely to drop for a second or two. This isn’t apparent when watching a video from the Internet because it pre-loads the video. Security cameras cannot preload videos. Therefore, moving an IP camera farther away from the router will make it more likely to drop the connection, resulting in missing sections of video, or a slower connection making the camera unable to transmit HD video in realtime and thereby switching to low-quality video.
In the direct reviews of any of these WiFi cameras on Amazon, there seems to be an equal number of people saying that they work well as those saying that they don’t work at all.
The people who cannot get them to work are placing them in the red sections of the WiFi heatmap and the people who are problem-free have their cameras in the green or yellow areas of their homes.
2.
“Wireless” does not mean “Wire-Free”.
Normal, wired HD IP cameras have one wire that sends both power and video. Normal “wireless” security cameras (not battery-powered wire-free security cameras) still need power and must be plugged into a wall outlet.
This can be unplugged.
What about Wire-Free Cameras?
Here’s a guide on the Pros and Cons of Battery Powered,
Wire-Free Security Cameras.
3.
Wireless Signal can be purposely jammed:
This device blocks WiFi signals, Bluetooth, GPS, and other signals. It is portable and fits in your pocket. Since most alarms run on one of these wireless technologies, it is a favorite item of people who are going to break into a home.
Because of this product (and the many more like it), we recommend never using WiFi cameras for security purposes.
Also, here are three different videos by three different people who are using other methods to disrupt or disable WiFi networks with smartphones or wireless landline phones.
Example Video 1: How To Build A Portable WiFi And
Bluetooth Jammer with a Wireless Landline Phone
Example Video 2: How To Jam WiFi with an Android Cell
Phone
Example Video 3: How To Jam WiFi with an App called
“WiFi Kill”
4.
Wireless Signal is often accidentally jammed:
How often do you have a bad experience with FM radio? Static or cross talk on FM radio occurs rather frequently and is caused when the signal overlaps another signal. There are over 100 non-overlapping FM radio frequencies.
WiFi was legally created when the FCC gave digital systems the ability to use part of the radio spectrum to send data. It works in the same way as FM radio but sends digital signals rather than analog. 2.4Ghz WiFi has three non-overlapping WiFi frequencies.
You should therefore expect to have interference and disruptions in your signal with WiFi.
5.
WiFi is uniquely susceptible to Man-in-the-Middle Hacking:
Have you ever seen a spy movie where the hero (or bad guys) replaces the video feed of a security camera with a duplicate, fake feed? This is an example of a man-in-the-middle attack.
Man-in-the-middle attacks are impossible on hardwired systems. It would involve having to cut a wire, splice it, put a device in between the camera and the recorder/viewer, give that device a web-address that the firewall can accept, and do this all without anyone being aware of any interference. Most modern surveillance systems (ours included) have automatic emails and auditory alerts that tell you when a cable has been cut or damaged.
Wireless, however, makes man-in-the-middle attacks very easy to execute since all that is required is to spoof the end device’s address and send the data in the same format.
You’re probably saying “A homeowner would really never need to worry about man-in-the-middle attacks.” You would be wrong.
In 2018, a huge number of consumer-grade cameras were hacked and were utilized in a large scale man-in-the-middle hacking attempt. Unlike in the spy example, where the man-in-the-middle was a device in between the user and the camera designed to feed fake video to the viewer, most real examples of man-in-the-middle attacks don’t care about video data.
Hackers don’t want to watch your videos, they care about your financial data.
The consumer camera hacks that started appearing in 2018, positioned the camera in between the users’ inputs (passwords, email addresses, banking logins, credit cards) and the internet. In these hacks, the camera’s software was modified to be used as the man-in-the-middle to collect and transmit financial data back to the hacker(s).
SCW solves this issue by creating a separate air-gapped (military term for “completely isolated”) network through our recording devices (NVRs). This means that when connected to the NVR, you can watch your camera’s footage, but there’s no way to remotely execute code on the camera since the camera is not on your computer network.
Conclusion: WiFi cameras are really only meant to be used as baby or pet monitors. They are
NOT meant for security.
Q: What’s the range of a Wifi camera?
The range is not actually a function of the camera, as much as it is of your wifi router. There are different speed and ranges for the different levels of wifi on router. The camera is receiving the signal (and transmitting back), but has to be in range of the signal that your router is transmitting.
So, the distance actually depends upon what router you have and your environment as walls, microwave ovens, cordless phones, and other appliances can shorten the range. Here’s a the approximate ranges in different environments for different speeds.
So, you’ll need to find out whether you have a B, G, N, AC router.
A B router will have an average indoor range of 115ft and an outdoor (unobstructed) range of 300 ft.
A G router will have an average indoor range of 115ft and an outdoor (unobstructed) range of 460 ft.
An N router will have an average indoor range of 230ft and an outdoor (unobstructed) range of 820 ft.
Inside the camera is a N wifi receiver (it will also work with G or B because it is backwards compatible – but B is pretty slow, so I would make sure you’re using a G or N router if you want HD video. ), so if you have an AC router the camera will use the N connection speed and range.
You can also buy wifi range extenders (here’s a model for example, but you’ll need to get one that’s the same brand as your router).
A final note about maintaining wifi cameras:
Although installation may seem easier with Wi-Fi cameras – Wi-Fi cameras require more maintenance than wired cameras. Wireless cameras by nature are less reliable than a wired cameras, we recommend wiring cameras whenever possible. All of our Wi-Fi equipped cameras are also able to be wired with Cat5 for optimal performance.
Wi-Fi cameras are not battery powered or equipped – they require power via ethernet or by a DC power adapter – please keep this mind for installation.
Point-to-Point Line-of-Sight Beam Wireless
If you have needs that go beyond consumer grade wifi, we carry military grade Wifi solutions (not available in stores) that can transmit up to 3 Miles but require line-of-sight (no obstructions).
You can add this sort of wifi to your NVR / cameras, these technologies only really works outdoors, and probably won’t fit your needs if this is for home use. They are surprisingly not as expensive as you might think, but they are difficult to setup.
Here’s an excellent promo video on the product:
About the author
How safe are Wi-Fi security cameras
Everyone has seen horror stories. Someone has placed an internet cam in their home and left it open to attack, allowing strangers to eavesdrop on their most private moments.
How to choose a camera that guarantees your privacy.
Monitor the IP camera settings
There are two main types of Wi-Fi enabled security cameras : traditional IP cameras (or network cameras) and modern “smart” cameras such as “Nest Cam” and “Amazon Cloud Cam” “.
Most of the “scary stories” you see on the internet about insecure cameras are about IP cameras. In theory, there is nothing wrong with IP cameras. These are simply security cameras that connect to a network, either via Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection. They provide a web interface that you can use to view your feed. These cameras can also be connected to a network video recorder or computer, allowing you to view and record all of these channels in one place. Cameras may have built-in storage, but generally it’s your job to record video streams if that’s what you want.
In practice, many people do not configure access to these cameras. They leave them configured with the default username and password and then connect them to the internet. This means that anyone can watch the channel simply by visiting the IP address of the camera. There are even search engines like SHODAN designed to help people find these exposed cameras and other vulnerable devices on the Internet of Things.
If you’re just an ordinary person looking for a few simple video surveillance cameras, go for the IP cameras. Just make sure you know what you’re doing and set them up properly so other people can’t watch you.
How smart surveillance cameras are different
Today’s cameras, such as Alphabet’s Nest Cam (Alphabet is the parent company that owns Google), Cloud Amazon , and Arlo from Netgear are different from IP cameras. They are designed as easy-to-use devices for smartphones.
Instead of providing a dumb web interface with a preconfigured username and password, you need to use an online accounting system for these cameras. Live broadcasts and recorded video clips will be available through these online accounts.
Sometimes this account can be configured two-factor authentication for added security, this means that even an intruder who knows your account password will not be able to view your cameras.
These types of cameras are automatically updated with the latest firmware. You don’t need to manually update them to fix security issues.
In other words, you don’t have to deal with complicated configuration settings. All you have to do is turn on the camera, create an online account, and then connect the camera to your account. As long as you choose a strong password and, ideally, set up two-factor authentication, attackers will not have a chance for quick access.
Beware of cheap surveillance cameras
Of course, no matter which smart camera you choose, it will upload a video feed or video clips to some server. It is important that you trust the company!
For example, Nest is owned by Alphabet, which also owns Google. You can trust Nest to the extent that you trust Google. Other big companies like Amazon, Netgear and Honeywell also seem to be pretty reliable. These big companies need to take security seriously and do a good job of protecting their services.
Some cameras seem less reliable. For example, the Wyze Cam costs $26, while other manufacturers usually sell their cameras for $100 to $200. Meanwhile, in tests Wyze Cam proves to be a very reliable and safe camera. However, Wyze does not offer two-factor authentication. And whenever you start a live streaming session, this video is provided by a Chinese company called ThroughTek.
Whether you trust a company like Wyze is up to you. For example, Wyze might be appropriate for keeping an eye on the outside of your home, but you might not want to place it in your living room. However, you can use the Wyze camera without connecting it to the network, just record the video stream on the microSD card.
Other cameras are even less reliable. In 2017, many cameras from Chinese manufacturers were found vulnerable to attacks. For example, some of these cameras contained hard-coded backdoor passwords that allow attackers to view live feeds from the camera.
Worth spending a little more on the over security camera .
Choose a camera with two-factor authentication
As we mentioned several times, two-factor authentication is a key security feature for a smart security camera account . You can set up two-factor authentication for your Nest account and Amazon account .
Unfortunately the Wyze camera does not offer this feature. Even Arlo Netgear cameras don’t offer two-factor authentication, so don’t count on every camera from a reputable company including this type of security.
For maximum security and privacy, be sure to choose a camera that supports two-factor authentication and don’t forget to set it up! Do a little research before buying a camera.
How to secure security cameras
Here is how to choose a secure surveillance camera and keep your video feeds private:
Buy a smart security camera, not an IP camera, which requires knowledge of configuration.
Use a camera from a trusted brand, such as Nest or Amazon .
Use a strong password when creating an online account for the camera.
Turn on two-factor verification (be sure to buy a camera with this feature for maximum security).
If you follow all these rules, you will achieve an ultra-high level of security. The worst case scenario would be a massive hack of Nest or Amazon servers, but that would be a shocking story that would be corrected immediately.

USB-C Power Delivery – Everything you need to know
USB-C Power Delivery – Everything you need to know
USB-C is the new standard for power delivery, and it’s being implemented in more and more devices. But what is USB-C power delivery? How does it work? And how do you charge devices with it?
What is USB-C PD?
USB-Power Delivery (PD) is a fast-charging technology based on the USB-C standard. Certain Apple® and Android smartphones/tablets and various laptop brands support the technology, which provides much higher performance than standard charging methods.
USB-C PD is a new standard that can deliver up to 240 watts of power, which is enough to charge laptops and other devices that require more power than USB-C alone can supply. This specification was created by the USB-IF in response to requests from laptop manufacturers for a connector that could deliver more power.
The USB-C PD standard is compatible with the USB4 and USB Power Delivery 3. 1 specifications. The USB-C PD specification defines how devices can use the USB-C connector to supply power and how these devices are identified and managed. It defines what the pins in the connector do and how they can be used to provide power at various voltages and currents.
What are the benefits of USB-C PD?
USB-C PD can supply a greater amount of power than standard wall chargers, so it is especially useful for getting power back into devices fast. USB-PD can charge smartphones/tablets up to 70% faster than a standard USB charger that only offers 5 watts of power. Plus, since USB Power Delivery is an open widely adopted standard, more chargers are using the technology. This flexibility means you won’t have to worry as much about losing, breaking or not having your specific/proprietary charger because more chargers will work with your USB-C PD device.

USB Type-C™ – the versatile, feature-rich connector
Be it laptop, tablet, smartphone, gaming console, headphones or mobile speakers, a fast-growing number of devices is using the USB-C interface. The compact format of the USB-C plug offers completely new options. Peripherals can now be connected easily and conveniently, a device’s design can be smaller and the Power Delivery function can reduce charging time significantly. The reversible connector can be plugged in either orientation without minding polarity, backward compatibility to USB 3.0 or lower is given by using the USB standard.
Depending on the version, up to 40 Gbps (USB4®) data rate and 8K video resolution can be transferred via USB-C™, which is ideal for docking stations. With only one cable connected to the laptop, it is possible to directly link connectivity and peripheral devices. That means you don’t need a dozen different cables to connect your laptop to printer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and network. Plus, power is supplied via the same cable. Depending on your laptop, there is a charging capability of up to 100 W or more, for which specified USB-C™ cables must be used
Starting in 2024, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, speakers, headsets and all other small devices need to have the USB-C connector per EU law. As of 2026, laptops need to be chargeable via USB-C.
Is Power Delivery technology safe?
Yes. The USB Power Delivery chipset always delivers exactly the right amount of power. Whether it’s a smartphone or a laptop: the charger recognizes the connected device and negotiates the required power to charge it as quickly as possible. This negotiation ensures a quick charge without delivering too much power or damaging the device’s circuits.
However, a word of caution: Devices that charge with higher wattage also require special cables that can transport particularly high currents; otherwise, there is a risk of cable fire.
USB-C laptop port symbols explained – see what your ports can do
The above-mentioned USB-C features are great, but keep in mind that laptop manufacturers can choose not to embed all of them into their devices. The oval form factor of the USB-C port always remains the same, but the capabilities vary a lot. How do you identify what your ports support? Often enough, you can only check your laptop’s documentation, but sometimes, small symbols next to the ports identify their capabilities. The table below explains what they mean.
USB Power Delivery 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 Standards – Confused yet?
There is no need to be. There are four iterations of the USB PD standard. USB PD 1.0 is a rather basic version providing fixed power profiles, whereas the newer PD 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 revisions are more dynamic and provide greater flexibility.
The USB PD 3.1 specification divides power into two ranges: Standard Power (SPR), which is the current USB PD3.0 standard with a maximum charging power of 100 W and Extended Power (EPR) with three newly added voltages of 28 V, 36 V, and 48 V. The maximum output current to the three voltages is still 5 A, while the maximum output power can reach 240 W.

Ultimate guide to buying a USB cable – Syllucid
News –
February 23, 2023
Take the stress out of shopping for good tech. Here’s how to choose the right USB cable for your needs.
Good news! In a bid to reduce e-waste and branded monopolies, EU legislation will make USB C charging cable the norm by the end of 2024. Until then, most of our devices have different charging ports, and if we keep them for years (which is best for the planet), then we need charging cables that fit.
“Even though USB cables can look the same, there are so many options. They can differ wildly and it can become complicated quickly. We want to simplify things for everyone.”

1. Device compatibility
It’s safe to use USB for many different brands, even when they aren’t part of the ‘branded ecosystem’ of cables. Make sure to choose a cable that is compatible with your devices. Have you checked the specifications?
The connector is the metal part that goes into the charging port. The most common types of connectors are Type-A, Type-B, Type-C, Micro-B, Mini-B and lightning (Apple). When in doubt, Google which connector your device uses.

A good option when you have multiple devices with different connectors is a modular cable so you only need one cable for your phone, laptop, e-reader, headphones and speakers.
Syllucid Charge: All-in-one
2. Charging power
If you plan on using your USB cable to charge devices like your phone or laptop, make sure it has the ability to deliver enough power. Check the specifications of your devices to ensure the cable you choose has the necessary power delivery capabilities. 60W is ample for most devices. Modern cables often use Power Delivery (PD), a technology to allow for even faster charging up to 240W.

Every phone manufacturer has developed their own charging protocol using USB charging cables. Those include:
Qualcomm Quick Charge
MediaTek Pump Express
OPPO VOOC/Warp Charge (licensed to OnePlus as Dash Charge)
Huawei SuperCharge
Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging
3. Data Transfer Speed
In most scenarios USB 2.0 is fast enough. USB cables come in different speeds. USB 3.0 cables are a distinctive blue colour. Say you’re a videographer creating 4K video and you need a fast transfer speed, make sure to choose a cable with a higher speed rating. Most data cables like HDMI are currently being replaced with USB.

USB 3. 0
SuperSpeed (SS)
5 Gbps
USB 3.1
SuperSpeed+

4. Cable Length
The length of the cable is an important consideration. Make sure to choose a cable that is long enough to meet your needs. 1.2m should be long enough for desk use and charging your phone at night. You might want to go for longer, or a charger with an extension cord if you know your power socket is far away.
5. Durability
The longer our electronics work, the less harm they cause the planet. A good quality USB cable should be made of durable materials and have a sturdy construction. Look for cables made to last with design elements like braiding and bend protectors to ensure they can withstand frequent use. Does it come with a cable management strap? And a travel case?
6.
Guarantee
If you’re intending to invest in a long life item, it’s always worth looking out for brands that offer a guarantee or warranty. That way, you’re covered if anything goes wrong.
7. Price
USB cables can range in price. Determine your budget and choose a cable that offers the features and specifications you need at a price you can afford. Remember, if you buy cheap, you buy twice! Cheap cables are made poorly and tend to break. If they have a single coat of plastic and no ‘bend protectors’, they’re more likely to break. It’s about a balance between quality and price. Note that the longer your electronics last, the better they are for the planet.
8. Sustainability credentials
Electronics impact climate change because they have a large carbon footprint and can cause environmental damage, such as deforestation from mining metals and e-waste. The supply chain can also be linked to slavery, child labour, gang crime, poor working conditions and minimal pay.
Two in three of us consider ourselves as belief-driven buyers. Our buying decisions increasingly focus on sustainability, social impact, ethics and environmentalism. In which real ways is the brand you’re buying from reducing its impact on the climate and people making the products?
Check for recycled metals, recycled plastic coating, carbon offsetting, and collaborations with environmental and social impact projects. They might be part of the Greentech Alliance, support Fairtrade Gold, Stannol or an environmental organisation like PUR Project in the region their materials come from.
9. Certifications
Trust badges are a good indicator of quality. For example, Qualcomm ensures fast charging. The recycling symbol is a good indicator, however it doesn’t mean the whole product is recycled. CE, RoHS, Reach, FCC and WEEE are all good certifications.
10. Reviews
Last but not least, do other people like the product? Take a look at the reviews and make sure people are positive about the cables.
Here’s a positive review from one of our happy customers
By taking these factors into consideration, you can find the right USB cable to meet your needs – and the planet. But if you have any questions about our products, don’t hesitate to email us at [email protected]. We always love to connect with people in the community.

Everything about USB-C: types of cables / Habr
The topic of USB-C cables and connectors is quite confusing, and there are objective reasons for this. Many implementation options and nuances, coupled with not always conscientious manufacturers, bring confusion to the cable market. However, in the article I will show that everything in this matter is not so bad if you are ready to resort to a number of tricks and adjust your own expectations.

▍ Cable mess
You can have a whole bunch of USB-C cables that look the same on the outside, but you know they have different insides. And often there are no signs on them. Yes, it’s pretty bad, and you could even say that the situation is only getting worse.
I want to clarify right away that here we will only talk about USB-C male to USB-C male cables. Despite the popularity of cables like USB-A to USB-C, they are quite simple. In them, we have a USB 2.0 or 3.0 data transfer standard and support a current of no more than 2 A, and the USB-C connector is usually connected to the host with a voltage of 5 V, which is determined by a pull-up resistor. In addition, although visually cables like “Type-C to DisplayPort” may look like cables, in fact they are adapters stuffed with a decent amount of electronics.
According to the specification alone, there were originally six types of USB-C to USB-C cables. Then there were eight. And now that number has reached twelve. And this is only in accordance with the specification, and there are still many third-party modifications. The good news is that usually most of these cables are quite suitable for simple tasks like charging devices and transferring data, and some specific cases of their use are quite rare.
Next, we will analyze the different types of cables, and you will understand that distinguishing them from each other is much easier than it might seem.
▍ Sort by category
To begin with, there are two current carrying options for USB cables – 3 A and 5 A. 3 A is the minimum required for any cable, and 5 A is already supported as an option. Naturally, low-quality cables can fall short of up to 3 A, but this is a rare case. Last year, the USB-C group introduced EPR (Extended Power Range) technology, which raises the maximum voltage from 20 V to 48 V and requires improved isolation between the data and power pins. These are two additional categories, SPR (maximum 20V) and EPR (maximum 48V). However, 3 A EPR cables don’t exist, so this is a little less confusing than it might sound.
There are at least four options for data transfer speed. Previously, USB 2 and USB 3 cables with a Type-C connector were available to us, as well as a Thunderbolt interface. Now there is a new USB 3.1 standard that aims for higher speeds and needs faster cables. In addition, there are active USB-C cables that route the signal through redrivers or fiber optics to increase its transmission range. If you thought that cables use different wiring, which introduces additional variability both within the specification and outside of it, then, unfortunately, you were right.
The result is a three-by-four matrix representing the possible types of cables you have. Three rows in it indicate the current strength of 3 A, 5 A and EPR 5 A, and four columns indicate the transmission speed. In addition, there are many cables that fall out of the specification – for example, charging-only cables without 2.0 pins, which, of course, looks blasphemous from the point of view of technical requirements. Naturally, this can be bought both accidentally and intentionally. But how to determine the kind of those that you already have?
Let’s cut it down to a three-by-four space of options, leaving out the exceptions – over time, these weird cables will become less and less prominent as even low-cost manufacturers eventually learn to follow the requirements.
The undeniable advantage of such a wide range of cables is the ability to buy exactly what will suit your needs, whether it’s a cheap $5 craft or a quality product for $40. However, 2.0 cables are thinner, lighter, and more flexible—because you definitely wouldn’t use Thunderbolt to charge your laptop on the go. In addition, USB-C has elements by which different cables can be distinguished. Next, I will talk about this in more detail.
▍ There is a computer in your cable…well, almost
When a power supply can deliver more than 3A of current through a cable, it will not do so immediately – it will first verify that the cable is capable of carrying that current and that the connected device can accept that current.
How exactly does it test cable capabilities? Through reading his “E-Marker”. E-marker is a memory chip in the cable connector that encodes its capabilities and parameters, being connected to the SS channel for their transmission. This microcircuit is necessary for all cables with speed from USB 3 and current from 3 A. At the same time, a huge number of parameters can be encoded in the E-Marker, including even the country code. Want to know more? I recommend reading the technical description of the VL151 programmable microcircuit, which lists a lot of interesting information that can be obtained from the usual E-Marker.
If you wish, you can even buy these chips online and install them in your cables – for example, the WLCSP VL151 or its UDFN version. True, these chips can be flashed through I2C only three times. If you want to build your own 5A USB-C cables, you can also buy plugs with E-Markers already soldered in. Who knows, we might even see Doom on these chips soon.
▍ Self test cables
So, you can find out the capabilities of the cable by reading the E-Marker. At this point, Linux users might think that this information should be available somewhere around /sys/ , but as you know, there is no such degree of support yet – the /sys/class/typec/ directory on my Framework laptop with kernel 6.0.3 is empty, even when a Type-C monitor is connected. In the meantime, there are USB-C testers that can read information from the E-Marker.
If you don’t have an E-Marker in your cable, then you can assume that it supports USB 2.0 transfer speed and 3A current, but hardly much more. In addition to the current carrying capacity of a cable, the E-Marker can tell you if it contains high-speed pairs, and which ones.
In a USB-C cable, there are usually either no such pairs at all, or there are four. Naturally, this is in addition to the obligatory pair of USB 2.0. However, there are exceptions – if you have a USB-A to USB-C cable with USB 3 support, then it will only have two pairs. Also, you will most likely find only two pairs in the USB-C to HDMI adapter with a built-in cable. Plus, from purely practical observations, I can say that I have a cable that came with the USB case – M.2 NVMe, and it also has only two pairs. It will work with USB 3.0, but will not fit DisplayPort or similar connectors – and it will not be long enough for such an application.
Want to check it out yourself? Luckily, you don’t have to cut the cable to do this. We’ve reviewed USB-C testers many times before, and here’s one of the latest articles. These are open source solutions, and you can easily build such a device yourself. As an alternative, there are a whole bunch of ready-made ones on Tindie and Aliexpress. This fixture will not tell the difference between 20Gb/s and 40Gb/s cables, but it will help distinguish between USB 2.0 and 3.0 models.
In addition, the cables can be tested under natural conditions. If you are using a 100W charger and a laptop of similar power, you can easily check if your cable is providing 100W of power. To do this, just connect the charger and laptop through any cheap USB-C power meter and see if the current consumption exceeds 3A. A similar trick can be used when you have a bunch of cables and want to find out if they are up to USB 3 and higher. Here you will additionally need, for example, the same M.2 NVMe case with a USB 3 Type-C “mother” port.
In this case, you can do the following quick test – connect the case to the laptop with a USB-C cable, then run lsusb -t , which will show the connection speed (480 for USB 2 cables and 5000/10000 for USB 3 cables). As a bonus, you can check to see if any of your cables fail the reversibility test – as this is still a problem.
▍ Completion of the missing marking
Naturally, the manufacturer himself knows exactly the capabilities of his cables and their internal structure. But at the same time, he must accompany his products with markings, which in fact are quite rare. Sometimes the characteristics are indicated on the packages. So, if you haven’t thrown yours out yet, you can take a look at them or look at the product description in the online store. Let’s say you have an unlabeled cable and you’ve just defined its characteristics. How to be further?
Well, get out the nail polish bottles and follow [@_saljam’s] advice. Here is a color scheme for marking USB-C cables after you understand their parameters. One strip means 3 A, two stripes – 5 A. Orange is USB 2.0, blue is USB 3 20 Gb / s (Gen 1), green is USB 3 40 Gb / s (Gen 2), yellow is Thunderbolt. I especially like that the 5A Thunderbolt cables look like bees when using this design. In addition, [@_saljam] says that this scheme is quite suitable for the perception of color blind people.
Be that as it may, USB-C is on the mend. The responsible group introduced a new notation, which, by the way, was laughed at by many. Although this scheme is quite simple and not without meaning. If the cable supports 40 Gb/s, then it will have a 40 Gb/s logo on it. If it supports 240 W, then this characteristic will be indicated by the corresponding logo. If it implements support for both, then you will see both of these designations. You may not want to paint over these logos with varnish, but I’m sure you’ll come up with something.
▍ Integrated USB-C cables
You may have come across devices, such as docking stations, with built-in USB-C cables. This solution is an alternative to the standard female port and male to male cable. Fixed cables don’t fall under the same set of rules, and the electronics they use are much simpler, which is why they’re often installed in cheap devices.
Simply put, if you want to use high-speed lines on your device and embed a fixed cable in it, then you do not need to add a high-speed multiplexer to support two variants of plug orientation – in this case, the host is responsible for adjusting to one or another direction of its connection. Also, since the only possible CC line is hardwired, you will need one 5.1 kΩ resistor instead of two, and you won’t need an E-Marker at all. If you add a “mother” port with high-speed lines to the docking station, then you can’t do without a multiplexer.
But under the terms of an agreement to sell well-equipped USB-C docking stations on Aliexpress for only $ 15, this option is not suitable. In this regard, many cheap devices are equipped with fixed cables, which both complicates and simplifies everything at the same time. The upside is that you no longer need to select the appropriate cable to connect the device, and it will certainly be optimally compliant with the standards, since it is very easy to implement such non-removable cables. The disadvantages include the limitation only to this cable built into the device. If it breaks, consider that the whole device breaks. Plus, you can’t increase it. Or can you?
Although I propose to postpone the issue of building up to another time, and with it the topic of USB-C cables that fall outside the requirements of the specification. Now I want to emphasize that the cables should be easily replaceable. If the cable suddenly ceased to be your friend or began to throw out oddities – stick a stigma on it, put it away so that there is no temptation to suddenly use it, and order a replacement. It’s better to have a few replacements. Here, as in the case of Micro-USB cables, replacement is the main way to get rid of the problems associated with them.

Can you tell by eye best cable for smartphone charging ?
Let’s find out if the wire matters at all, when we have a good adapter, and the device itself works properly.
If you exclude the division into types of Lightning and USB, do not take into account the color and size, then all cables look about the same, right?
In practice, one charges well and quickly, while the other is incredibly slow. So there is a difference?
Choosing a good cord to charge your phone is another “quest”, especially in today’s market full of second-rate crafts from China.
Most USB cords (Type-C or Lightning – now and then, it doesn’t matter) use four pairs of wires (twisted pair) to charge the phone.
Two wires for data transmission (Data)
Two wires for charging (Charge)
This type of cable (twisted pair) is widely used in data centers and switching installations. In such places, engineers are forced to observe a compact connection.
After all, the thinner the conductors, the more space opens up for the free movement of air to cool the server equipment. But the less is the load that the line can “take on”.
1. The thicker the cable, the better for charging.
AWG (American Wire Gauge) standards have been adopted to designate the thickness gauge.
Now you know how to identify the caliber internal wires of your USB charging cable. The gauge indicates the thickness of the conductor: the higher the gauge, the thinner the wire.
Manufacturers save on copper by producing cheap USB cables – often they have thin wires inside with a higher AWG value.
Savings on conductive material reduces its cross section. It can no longer transmit a large current – charging will slow down. If you look at a thicker wire, then the electrical resistance will be lower in it, which means that the flow of electrons will accelerate.
2. The longer the cable, the worse it is for charging
The resistance of the is a key factor in charge filling speed. As the length of the USB cable increases , the resistance increases. And it matters, especially for devices with Quick Charge or Fast Charge technologies.
Cheap short cables can charge your device quite quickly at times.
However, cheap long cables of the same thickness will stretch the process for tedious hours. Especially often this is faced by motorists who buy long USB cords for charging from the cigarette lighter somewhere in the glove compartment with dragging a “coil” of wires to mount the phone on the windshield. As a result, the device simply maintains its charge, but does not charge.
Most charging wires for phones, smartphones, tablets and other gadgets are labeled 28/28 AWG (thin) or 28/24 AWG (thick). This characteristic is indicated in the description and is easy to remember.
What is the difference between 28/28 AWG and 28/24 AWG charging cords?
28/28 AWG – thin cable with two gauge pairs: 28 AWG for data ( Data ) and 28 AWG for charge line ( Charge ). Each pair has a thickness of 0.321 mm in diameter and 0.081 sq. mm in cross section with a current load of up to 1.4 A .
28/24 AWG – Thickened cable with two pairs of 28 AWG data ( Data ) and 24 AWG for charge line ( Charge ). For switching, a thickness of 0.321 mm in diameter and 0.081 sq. mm in cross section is sufficient with the ability to accept current up to 1.4 A. To power the core, it is already thicker – 0.511 mm in diameter and 0.205 sq. mm in cross section with a load of up to 3.5 A .
Standard wires 28/28 AWG can handle about 0. 5A of (may be considered a slow charge), while fast charge cables 28/24 AWG can handle up to 2A . Yes, the number 24 seems smaller than 28 , but in fact such a cable is 60% thicker than .
24 AWG cable is thicker than 28 AWG but thinner than 21 AWG
When choosing the best phone charging cable, always look for 28/24 AWG cords (although 28/21 AWG are also available). Be sure to pay attention to the thickness (in AWG) and length (in meters or centimeters). Eliminate thin and cheap models with excessive electrical resistance.
In 2019, nothing supernatural was invented in this industry. But for practical purposes, look for options that have the following features.
1.5 meter maximum length
Insulation marked with 28/24 AWG gauge
USB 3.0 supported for fast charging and file transfer
Braided nylon and anodized aluminum insulation for durability
At the junction with the plug has a discharge area (why?)

Great for F45
Love the F45 lionheart monitor when im training at F45. It pushes me harder, the trainers can see how hard (or not) I’m working, and it gives a competitive edge. Fantastic
Been using it for more than a year now. Changed the battery once. It works perfectly fine Does the job. Great Motivation. I love to see how much Calories I have burned.

Lionheart not working
My lionheart isn’t showing up anymore on the TV. After a few minutes it shows up in grey but stays on 0% and 0.0pts. I’ve even put in a new battery. How do I fix this?! Thank you!

Doesn’t work.
Terrible. Doesn’t work. Reports used to come on a timely matter. Now I’d be lucky to get them next day.
Many times it registers and shows activity at the studio, but they are unable to capture the report.
Technical support is NOT helpful.

Does what it advertises
I joined a F45 on a 6 month contract and got the LionHeart heart rate monitor included in the deal. It does what it says so I can’t complain. I have since unpaired my LionHeart heart rate monitor and paired my Garmin HRM Run to the LionHeart website and now I can monitor my heart rate on the F45 LionHeart screen and also on my garmin Fenix 5X. For me that is a much better option.

OK for F45 training days
I got this band after signed off with the challenge. It seems to work great but it does the same job as a fit watch (ie Fitbit). The good part of this item is that you can track in any screen while in use at F45 however, it seems not to sync with F45 lion heart portal at times.

Good to see your workout craphouse to change battery
Its good to see and track your efforts during your workout. But my major issue is in replacing the battery. Followed all instructions and those of the trainers and have completely destroyed the back of the monitor so now have to purchase a new one. A better design would be appreciated. Also the band could be a bit more functional with a different clasp as they keep slipping.

Ben Shahn – one of the founders of American photojournalism (1898 – 1969)
Photo: anemone.pro
Ben Shahn became one of the founders of modern American photojournalism along with Paul Strand, Aaron Siskind, Walter Rosenblum, Morris Angel, engaging in early 1930s documentary photography. The magazines Fortune (1929) and Life (1936), founded by Henry Lewis, spoke to the reader in a language accessible to everyone – the language of photography.
Making photography the main medium was Lewis’s guiding idea. He wrote in an introduction to Life magazine: “To know life, to know the word, to observe the faces of the poor and the gestures of the powerful… Understand strange things, see and learn. See and be amazed. Ben Shahn’s short photographic career contributed to the “knowledge of life” in America during one of the most difficult periods of its history – recovery from the consequences of the Great Depression.
Photographer Ben Shan
Ben (Benjamin) Shan was born into the Orthodox Jewish family of Gittel Shan (Lieberman) and Joshua Shan in Kovno (Kaunas, Lithuania). My father was engaged in woodcarving and carpentry, was a social democrat. At 19In 02 he was exiled to Siberia for political reasons. In 1906, Ben and his mother emigrate to the United States. They settled in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), where they met with their father, who had fled from exile. Ben’s youth was spent in Brooklyn. At the age of 15, he apprenticed to a lithographer, and then for a number of years, doing commercial lithography, he supported his family. Shang’s art education was limited to a short study of graphic art at the Art Students League (1916 – 1917) and at the National Academy of Design (1921).
Photo: peoples.ru
In 1924, Ben Shan marries Tilly Goldstein, a suffragist and political activist. The following year they leave first for North Africa and then for Europe (1925-1929). Like many pilgrim artists, Shan visits museums in Europe, he is attracted by the work of Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Paul Clay, Raoul Dufy.
Ben Shan was a man of reformist convictions, collaborated with the left-wing magazine Art Front, actively participated in the work of the Union of Artists. He viewed art as a means of expressing current social and political issues. Ben Shahn was one of the brightest representatives of social realism in art, among whom were Otto Dix and Max Beckmann (Germany) and the Americans Grant Wood and Edward Hopper…
Ben Shahn became famous after exhibiting a series of 25 gouache works, The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti (1931-1932), at Edith Halper’s Downtown Gallery in New York.
Photo: artcontext.info
Rockwell used photographs of current political and cultural events cut from city newspapers as a source for his paintings and drawings.
Having received a Leica camera (1932) from his brother, Shang initially became interested in photography as an auxiliary tool in his work. “Photographs give you those details of form that you think you will remember, but you forget,” he later said in an interview with Magazine of Art (April 1944). However, soon came the passion for photography, which became an independent part of his artistic work.
Shan’s knowledge of photography was very limited. At the time, he shared a studio with photographer Walker Evens in Greenwich Village. “… I thought I could ask Evens to show me what to do… One day when he was going to the Caribbean and I was helping him load into a taxi, I said, “Walker, remember your promise to show me how to take pictures?” He said, “Well, that’s easy, Ben. Aperture F9- on the sunny side of the street. Aperture F45 – on the shady side of the street. With a shutter speed of 1/20 sec. Hold the camera firmly in your hands.” And it’s all. This is the only lesson I ever had. Of course, photography is in many ways not a technical tool, but the eye and the decision at what moment to take a picture.
Photographs by Ben Shahn capture the image of New York in the early 1930s. His footage ranges from infamous illicit liquor-selling cafes to exotic Greenwich Village cafes to street speakers in Union Square. He regularly attended street demonstrations and picket lines, and photographed the unemployed and homeless scattered on the streets of the city. But most of all he was attracted to the East Side, populated mainly by Jewish immigrants. Photographed children playing in the streets, merchants on Orchard Street.
These photographs show urban life and environment during the Depression and the social picture of ethnic immigrants living in Lower Manhattan. In both his paintings, drawings and photography of this period, and later in photographs for the FSA, Shang found interesting scenes, capturing the mood of his subjects in amazing thoughtful compositions. The photographs of Ben Shahn do not feel the presence of the photographer.
Photo: artcontext.info
The characters in his photographs continue their lives, no one bothers them. To a large extent, this effect of detachment of the photographer is achieved thanks to the side viewfinder attached to the camera, with which you can shoot people without attracting their attention. Usually people, when they see a camera aimed at them, immediately lose their immediacy. The intention of the photographer gives out, first of all, the position of his head, his eyes turned to the object. With a side viewfinder, the photographer shoots while pretending to look away from the person being photographed.
In 1935, Shan moved to Washington to work as a scheduling officer for the newly established Government Resettlement Administration (later FSA – Farm Security Administration). The FSA was one of the government agencies that implemented Roosevelt’s New Deal to stabilize American agriculture. Rexford Guy Tuchwell, former Columbia University professor, Roosevelt’s brain trust, assistant secretary of agriculture and head of the FSA, took photographic documentation of agricultural problems with particular attention, seeing it as an effective means of demonstrating to Congress and the American people the implementation of the government’s program to resettle farmers.
The focus and nature of the photographs were determined by economist and photographer Roy Stryker, Head of the Historical Section of the FSA Information Department. He invited young, unknown, but exceptionally talented photographers to work. The staff of photographers included Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Arthur Rothstein, Russell Lee. These photographers were able to give the usual photographic recording of events, serving as a medium of information and propaganda, the character of a vivid documentary chronology of American life.
A little later, Roy Stryker included in the staff of photographers and Ben Shahn. Roy liked the pictures of Ben that he took in the southern states, in Kentucky and West Virginia. On assignment from the FSA, Ben Shahn traveled intensively across the states of Arkansas and Ohio, capturing the desperate, plight of migrants, industrial workers, caused by the depression, and the difficult life of small American cities.
In these photographs, as in New York photographs, Ben Shahn’s attention is drawn to the nuances of the language of human movement, to capturing a significant gesture that, in a moment, expresses the essence of an individual or human interaction. The most complete photographs of Ben Shahn during his work in the FSA are presented in two books: The Ohio Guide, American Guide Series. New York: Oxford University Press, 1940″ and “Anderson, Sherwood. Hometown. New York: Alliance Corp., 1940.
In 1938, with the completion of Shan’s work at the FSA, his passion for photography as the only art form ended. However, as he noted, the time devoted to photography was creative for him. Photography to a certain extent changed Shang’s ideas about life and art in general. All subsequent years he divided his time between photography and work on painting and graphics.
In the 1940s and 1950s, Ben Shahn, engaged in painting and graphic design, made murals for public buildings, designed posters and brochures for the information war department, participated in the election campaign for the re-election of Franklin Roosevelt, designed productions of ballets by Jerome Robbins ( New York, City Ballet). The work of Ben Shahn during this period was already so recognized that at 1947 The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, New York) is organizing a retrospective exhibition of his work, the youngest of the artists represented in the museum. According to Look magazine (1948), Ben Shahn was ranked among the top ten American artists.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Shan increasingly turned to the Jewish theme in his work. He sketches for The World of Sholom Aleichem (1953) and decorates the windows of the Beth Zion synagogue in Buffalo (1965). How the Shang calligrapher uses the Hebrew alphabet in the design of the Alphabet of Creation books (1954) and “Love and Joy about Letters” (1963). For the latter, he also wrote lyrics. With his calligraphy, a luxurious series of books “Haggadah” (1965) was published. The drawings for this book, made by Shang in the 1930s, were acquired by the New York Jewish Museum.
At the end of his life, Shang achieved international recognition in the world of painting. In 1954 he (together with William De Koonning) represented the United States at the Venice Biennale. In 1956, Ben Shahn was elected a member of the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and at 1959 – American Academy of Arts and Letters.
However, most of his photographic work remained unknown until the significant exhibition “Ben Shan as a Photographer” at Harvard’s Fogg Art Museum, organized immediately after his death in 1969. The photographic legacy of Ben Shahn remains an integral part of the history of New York and America. It remains in demand, reflected in books and exhibitions (“Ben Shahn’s New York: The Photography of Modern Times. The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C., 2000”; “New York: Capital of Photography. The Jewish Museum, New York, 2002 “).
The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens has an Honor Trail, one of whose flagstones bears the name of Ben Shahn. Our understanding of America in the 1930s would not be complete without photographs by Ben Shahn, a sensitive photographer with an artistic eye of his own.

The RG212CA v2 is in our opinion the best slim dual 12” powered car subwoofer on the market. This sub is a vented and more powerful version of our famous RWS12CA v2. The performance is better than systems that cost double or triple the price! Our RWS12CA v2 is a 4.7 star product and we noticed one review mention that if we made a vented version with slightly more power It would be even better. After reading that review we decided to come out with 2 new versions. The RG212CA v2 is the top model and has the most powerful amplifier and (2) 12” subs built into the vinyl finished enclosure.
Super slim
The super slim design barely takes up any space in your trunk. Our engineers matched (2) 12” slim subwoofers with a vented enclosure and an amplifier tuned to perform optimally for this system. This model is only about 6” longer than the single 12”. So you still save a ton of space while getting double the bass!
Huge sound!
This model is like our RWS12CA v2 but significantly louder! It is vented and the amplifier produces more power. You also get (2) 12” subs with this model. This has enough power to shake your mirrors and be heard form 2 blocks away. There is also a built in limiter circuit that gets rid of unwanted distortion frequencies even at peak volume levels.
RCA inputs and high-level inputs
Use the RCA inputs if your receiver has RCA outputs available. Use the high-level inputs if you have no RCA outputs available like if you have a stock radio. Either way installation is quick and easy with this all in one solution. The Power, signal and remote turn-on terminals are angled which enables quick connecting or disconnecting.
Remote bass knob included
The remote bass knob can be mounted by your dash and allows you to raise or lower the sub volume from your dash.
Adjustable low-pass crossover
The adjustable crossover allows you to filter out the frequencies you do not want your subwoofer to play. For example, if you know your full range speakers are set to roll off at 80Hz you can set the crossover on the sub to filter out anything above 80Hz.

Features To Consider When Buying Best 12 Inch Subwoofer
a) Peak Power Capacity
Ideally, every user is looking for a stable and durable subwoofer. When searching for the best dual 12-inch subwoofer, you’re likely to have noticed that all subs have an RMS power rating and peak power handling capacity. The peak power refers to how much power the subwoofer can handle but this only for short periods.
For instance, if a subwoofer’s peak power is 1,000 watts, this means that the unit can reach that much power, but it’s not something that you can continuously access for a quick burst. Hence if you max the subwoofer to its peak power constantly, it’s likely to result in permanent damage.
b) Sensitivity Rating
This refers to the subwoofer’s ability to convert power to sound. Basically, its how effectively the speaker converts power or watts into sound (decibels)
Sensitivity acts as a measure of the productivity of the speaker. Essentially, the higher the number, the better, with at least 92 decibels being the ideal. This, however, doesn’t mean that a low sensitivity equates to a bad subwoofer. On the contrary, it’s possible to come across the best 12-inch subwoofers that are of very high quality and have a low sensitivity rating of about 85 dB, meaning they require a lot of power.
In such cases, productivity is translated into the amount of power going into the speaker that is converted into sound.
c) Frequency Response
People can generally hear sounds in the range of 20 to 20,000 Hz. Therefore, frequency response is present in every piece of audio equipment you purchase, at least where subwoofers, speakers, and amplifiers are concerned. Technically, the higher the frequency, the sharper the sound.
Subwoofer systems can produce waves from 20 to 200 Hz. Still, it’s advisable to use a crossover filter to limit the frequency response to 100 Hz or lower, as recommended by audio experts.
d) Impedance Levels
When it comes to ohm impedance, 12-inch subwoofers either have 2 and 4, and their role is to enhance the power output. One can connect two 2 ohm subwoofers to generate a 4-ohm load on the amp, but this will depend on the kind of bass you want to get out of it.
If looking for a decent bass level with the highest sound performance, you should look at the subs that feature 4-ohms. In contrast, subs with a 2-ohm carry less resistance, allowing the amplifier to pump more power to the unit.
e) Size
Generally, not all trunks are of the same size; thus, not many subs will perfectly fit in the trunk space. A common mistake made by most is purchasing expensive and high-quality subwoofers but being unable to use them since they can’t fit in the trunk. Hence, when searching for the best 12 inch subwoofers ensure to have all the measurements and dimensions of your trunk or space where you’re planning to install or mount the subwoofer.
f) Noise Reduction
The best 12-inch subwoofers will ideally have material that’s noise-resistant or at least reduces noises. What you’re looking to avoid is a sub is hearing rattles or noise either from the vibrations of the components or from the shock which the component receives from the moving vehicle.
It’s advisable to opt for a car subwoofer made from a sound dampening material that reduces noise and vibration and can seal the sound inside the car.
g) Number of Voice Coils
Voice calls refer to the wires wrapped around a subwoofers speaker cone. A voice coil connects to an amplifier, allowing for the subwoofer to be powered and operated. Generally, voice calls come in two forms: Single and Dual.
A single voice coil tends to be less expensive but doesn’t work with plenty of amplifiers. This can be challenging if you don’t have the right amplifier on hand. However, there are various amplifiers available that accommodate single voice coils.
Dual voice coils are generally more expensive but are capable of more wiring configurations. This enables them to connect to a greater diversity of amps than single voice coils. It also makes it easier to find an amp when you need to buy one.
h) Polypropylene Cone
Most subwoofers feature an injection-molded polypropylene cone which is responsible for reproducing sound. Some of its best qualities include its high damp and looseness, which translates into a smooth sound because of its flexibility.
These cones are very resistant, absorb moisture well, and have electronic insulation. Ideally, when searching for the best dual 12-inch subwoofer, you want it to feature the latter. Unfortunately, electronic insulation doesn’t allow electrons to flow freely, which affects the clearness of the sound.

How TosHow to Decorate Your Living Room: The 5 Essentials
TV Stands and Entertainment Centers Buying Guide
What is the difference between a TV stand and an entertainment center?
A TV stand and an entertainment center are both furniture pieces designed to hold and support your television and other media devices. However, there are some differences between the two:
TV Stand: A TV stand is a compact and straightforward piece of furniture that typically consists of a flat surface on top for placing your TV and a few shelves or compartments for storing media components such as a cable box, game console, or DVD player. TV stands are ideal for smaller spaces or for those who prefer a minimalistic look.
Entertainment Center: An entertainment center is a larger and more comprehensive unit that usually includes a dedicated space for your TV, ample storage options like drawers, cabinets, and shelves for organizing your media collection, as well as additional features like built-in speakers, cable management systems, and display areas for decorative items. Entertainment centers are ideal for larger rooms and for those who want a complete media storage and display solution.
How do I choose the right TV stand or entertainment center for my space?
When selecting a TV stand or entertainment center, consider the following factors:
TV Size and Weight: Determine the size and weight of your TV to ensure the stand or center can safely accommodate it. Check the maximum TV size and weight capacity specified by the furniture manufacturer to make an appropriate choice.
Storage Needs: Assess your storage requirements for media components, DVDs, game consoles, and other accessories. Choose a stand or center with enough shelves, cabinets, or drawers to keep everything organized and easily accessible.
Style and Design: Consider the overall style of your room and choose a TV stand or entertainment center that complements your existing decor. Whether you prefer a modern, rustic, or traditional look, there are various styles and finishes available to suit your taste.
Space and Layout: Measure your available space and consider the layout of the room. Ensure the dimensions of the stand or center fit well in the allocated area and that there is enough clearance for ventilation and cable management.
How can I maximize the functionality of my TV stand or entertainment center?
Here are a few tips to make the most of your TV stand or entertainment center:
Organization: Use the shelves, drawers, and cabinets to keep your media components and accessories well-organized. Use cable management systems to minimize cord clutter.
Display: Enhance the visual appeal of your stand or center by displaying decorative items such as framed photos, artwork, or plants. This adds a personal touch and makes the furniture piece more aesthetically pleasing.
Storage: Utilize the storage space to keep your DVDs, game controllers, and other media-related items neatly stored and easily accessible. Consider using storage baskets or bins to keep smaller items organized.
Adjustment: If your stand or center offers adjustable shelves or swivel TV mounts, take advantage of these features to optimize the viewing angle and accommodate different media devices.
By considering the type, storage needs, style, and layout of your space, you can find the perfect TV stand or entertainment center to enhance your viewing experience and organize your media components effectively.

Modern designer TV stands
The modern range of TV stands offers many different options when it comes to aesthetics and practicality. Some devices are thin and compact, while others take up entire walls, providing ample storage space. Materials range from solid wood to plastic and fiberglass, and the shapes are beyond the human imagination.
Modern design stands
Attaria Entertainment Center
Entertainment centers are usually large and require quite a lot of space. In turn, they offer a lot of extra storage and display space. They are great for spacious open-plan homes as they help create a focal point in the main room and take up all that empty wall space.
That’s the beauty of entertainment center walls, as you don’t have to think about a gallery wall to disguise a TV. Some of them come with sliding panels to hide the item when not in use.
360 TV stand by Ronda Design
Multipurpose TV stands are great. But not many are as flexible as this 360 from Ronda Design. It consists of two parts: the stand consists of a movable table that allows you to watch TV from any part of the room.
With our fast paced lifestyle, multitasking is a must, so having a flexible entertainment center is a great idea.
Anthology Bookshelf Studio 14
Creating a gallery for a TV is not an easy task. Antologia Bookshelf by Studio 14 for Mogg eliminates the need for one by creating an interesting pattern around the TV and providing space for external devices.
This is an ideal compact media center that will take up little space in the apartment and make an attractive wall decor.
Interior of Giovo Božinovski’s apartment
Giovo Bozinowski designed an apartment with a futuristic modern TV set in the corner of the room. Thanks to the sleek black wedge shape, the stand fits perfectly into illuminated niches.
The contrast between the black TV and white walls also creates a classy look, and the blue light also contributes to the futuristic aesthetic.
TV stands VIG
VIG Furniture offers a variety of modern design stands. Luxurious and minimal, remotes and cabinets are perfect for small living rooms as well as spacious homes.
Armani Black Crocodile Pattern TV Stand by VIG Furniture
The Armani Black Crocodile TV stand is a gorgeous cabinet in crocodile patterned leather and glossy black lacquer. It is perfect for creating a luxe living room and can be easily used as a TV stand or just a media console or cabinet. We can see it as a small home bar.
TV Stand Modrest by VIG
To add a bit of a futuristic feel to your living room, opt for curvy, glossy pieces that look like parts of a fantasy spaceship. This stand also includes LED lighting built into a single glass shelf that holds external devices and a minimal movie collection.
Modrest Barbara Modern black TV stand from VIG Furniture
Barbara will add some unusual angles to the interior. It has a generous storage drawer and can also be used as a console to display objects. Glamorous and inviting, the unusual cabinet is a welcome change to the familiar rectangular TV stands.
Modern TV stands in interior design
Studiovision Architecture TV stand
Studiovision Architecture has created an interesting contemporary TV stand in one of their residential projects. The minimal freestanding wall not only contains the TV, but also separates the kitchen and dining area from the living room.
Since it does not have a shelf or any other additional details, it does not create an obstacle between the living room and adjacent areas by Dreer and architects Bembe Dellinger. Architects Karl Dreer and Bembé Dellinger designed this house in Bavaria, Germany. In the open living room, the architects also created a room divider, equipped with an open fireplace and fitted with a built-in TV.
Playing with the style of an art gallery at home, the TV fits in perfectly with the interior design, echoing the paintings in the background.
Design by Pitsou Kedem Architects
Pitsou Kedem Architects just installed a TV on a pole for one of their projects to save some space in the bedroom and create a sleek modern TV. It turns out that this is also quite practical, since the cables pass through the pipe without revealing the inside and without ruining its appearance. While not convenient for storage, this type of stand is great for small spaces and minimal interiors that don’t allow for extra bulky pieces of furniture.
TV design Antonello Italia
Contemporary Antonello Italia stands are similar to these minimal racks, but they have additional frames and shelves to store small electronics.
TV channel Tecno by Antonello ItaliaBIT TV stand by Antonello ItaliaOde by Antonello Italia
While the BIT and TECNO booths are minimal, the sleek Odeon stands out with its massive glossy TV window and round wooden open cabinet.
The swivel panel provides more flexibility when turning on the TV. And enough storage space is enough for both external devices and various other storage media.
Fancy Modern TV Stand Designs
Many modern TV stands are still rectangular, just reimagined in modern materials. If you have something truly different and interesting, there are other options. Bloom TV Stand by Léon van Zanten
Bloom TV Stand by Léon van Zanten is one of the most unusual TV stands we’ve seen. Made of wood, it couldn’t be more modern. Rejoice like a vase, not a stand. Bloom becomes the bastard of the house, deviating from the technical style of conventional television.
Providing space for external devices and openings for cables. Bloom is the perfect addition to a modern or period home.
TV stand Interno Italiano
Tivu is more of a pedestal, but it’s not dysfunctional. The T-rack has two V-shaped shelves that together create an incredibly eye-catching design.
Designed back in 1990, it still has a minimal aesthetic and offers a small compartment to hide unsightly cables.
Cobra TV Stand by Horm
The Cobra TV stand is the epitome of minimalism. Made of plywood, the curved, smooth panel has multiple slots for audio-visual devices and a hidden cable entry.
Also equipped with wheels and a shelf for various magazines and small electronics, the Cobra can be easily moved from room to room or corner to corner.
Modern TV stand WD-V70MSC.498-1
This modern TV stand is no ordinary rectangular TV. Featuring a modern mosaic design, the device features two storage drawers where unsightly electronics and magazines can be hidden, while the open space allows more decorative objects to be displayed.
Although such an attractive design may not require any additional embellishments as they can make the device more elaborately decorated.
Modern wall mounted TVs
TV stand by Morassutti
Wall cabinets with TV stands are very practical. They can contain entire libraries. And their minimal design can also work in smaller rooms, which can bring some extra extra storage.
Designed by Morassutti, this media stand has an unusual soft lighting feature that highlights the TV for better screen visibility.
Manhattan Comfort Vanderbilt TV Stand
The specialists at Modern Manhattan Comfort TV Stands have created a Vanderbilt stand that provides a nice wooden function to the room while providing some storage space and a wall panel for the TV.
The top open shelf is perfect for displaying decorative glassware or vases, while the cabinet will store small items for a messy look.
Furniture-Porta-TV-Moderno-03 by Bruno Piombini
Bruno Piombini turned the TV into a picture frame. The combination of modern and traditional styles makes it an unusual addition to the living room, focusing on the TV.
Two open shelves above and below the TV panel allow you to store small things, but the main part of the device is an unusual shape.
Bonaldo Vision TV stand
The popular independent modern TV stand has been given a new shape by Bonaldo. Round panel with TV wall mount and built-in partially concealed media shelves.
TV stands Pacini & Cappellini
Pacini & Cappellini designs are perfect for contemporary minimal interiors. They are smooth and do not have extra details. Convenience for data storage they can fit in additional devices. While most modern TV wall designs come in plastic, fiberglass, or metal, Pacini & Cappellini offers a warm wooden living room stand with a sleek and minimal design.
Pacini & Cappellini TV standPacini & Cappellini TV standLounge by Pacini & Cappellini
Modern TV stands Porada
Stands for Porada TV are different from most. Tall standalone storage units offer a TV mount system, built-in shelving as well as floating shelves. They can be placed in a corner or anywhere other than a wall. Since they are quite tall, they are best suited for homes with high ceilings.
Floor to ceiling Porada TV StandUbiqua TV Stand by PoradaDomino TV Prepare T.Colzani for Porada
Multifunctional modern TV stands
When space is tight, multifunctional pieces of furniture can be just what you need. But the functionality of TV stands does not end with the warehouse.
Real Flame Fresno 71″ Gay Fireplace Media Console
Combining flames that can be watched for hours, the designers of Real Flame’s TV stand fireplaces have created the perfect entertainment center that will work for both a small room and a larger open plan space.
Providing extra space for books and external devices, this incredible TV stand is the perfect introduction to contemporary multipurpose design.
REVO-OVER TV stand from Fimar
The REVO-OVER TV box from Fimar includes a storage wall and display shelving. The TV box opens into a hidden storage that would make the perfect home bar and small floating shelf for small items like remotes or external devices.
A mixed-use storage wall can contain books, display objects, china, and other personal items.
Minimal Modern TV Stands
Metal TV Swivel Cabinet by Caronni & Bonanomi Associati
The Sail Swivel is as minimal as the REVO-OVER is versatile. Designed by Caronni & Bonanomi Associati, the TV stand does not distract from the images on the screen. While some of its options are completely separate, it can include a simple storage box to help keep the space clutter-free.
Aico Design Totem Stand
The Totem TV stand from Aico Design is a great addition to the office. It is compact and easy to store and can be mounted floor to ceiling or floor to wall. Available in several configurations. Totem is the perfect compromise between mail and storage wall.
While it doesn’t take up too much space, it offers plenty of storage space for DVD collections, books, and all the various external devices.
SITA by STC Studio
SITA is a TV stand that adds nothing extra to the picture. It comes with a floating shelf as well in order to create a clean look with just a “screen in the air”.
TV Stands J&M
J&M furniture offers quite a few unusual options, such as the Strada Premium Wall Unit or the Organic Premium teleconference. And with unusual shapes, and with built-in LEDs. Other designs are sleeker and fit in with smaller modern and minimal living rooms.

And it differs from competing hubs with a built-in case for storing cables, various adapters and SD cards. It’s ready to connect your Mac or iPad to USB accessories, monitors, Ethernet, memory cards and more. And it includes adapters in case you run into connection issues.
I tested a multiport hub to see how well it works. Here’s what I found.
JSAUX Omnicase 2 Pro Overview
When it comes to port, apples (usually) keep all their eggs in one basket. You won’t find a USB-A port or an Ethernet port on a MacBook… although you will find situations where these ports come in handy.
Hence the popularity of the multiport adapter. Plug one into your computer and you’ll be able to connect to a fast network, legacy accessories, removable memory cards, and more.
But sometimes you will find accessories that you have trouble connecting to. This is where adapters come in handy.
JSAUX Omnicase 2 Pro is both a hub and a case for simple adapters. And it can also store SD and microSD cards.
Portable USB-C Hub and Accessory Case
Hub/housing painted gray with rounded corners and edges. Designers successfully mixed the product with the MacBook.
The JSAUX Omnicase 5 Pro measures 3″ x 1″ x 2″ and is reasonably portable. It fits easily in a bag. Added to this is the fact that the USB-C connection cable runs inside the case.
Open the cover to reveal a storage slot for connecting cables and a set of adapters. The lid stays closed with magnets that are strong enough to do their job well.
multiple ports

Dozens of ports are scattered around the hub.
The list starts with three USB-C ports, one of which is used to connect the hub to a computer. You can also use one of these ports to connect your computer to a power source.
The USB-C ports are also reasonably fast, with a 1GB test tile going from my computer to a drive in the port in about 3.5 seconds and back in about 14.5 seconds. It’s not lightning fast, but it’s certainly fast enough to be useful.
There are a couple of USB-A ports that are not as fast. The 1 GB test file was transferred from the computer to disk in 28 seconds and back in 31 seconds.
The back of the OmniCase 2 Pro has a pair of HDMI ports. They have no problem managing my 4K monitor. There is also a full-size DisplayPort on the left side. Unfortunately, they are limited to Mac users. The three ports must display the same content, so it’s best to use only one video port at a time.

On the same side is an Ethernet (RJ47) port that allows your computer to connect to wired networks that are often faster than Wi-Fi and always more secure.
The front of the OmniCase 2 Pro has an SD card reader and a microSD card reader. They are used to capture images from drones and other cameras. And they are fast enough to be useful. I copied a 1 GB test file from the reader to my computer in 14 seconds and back in 17.5 seconds.
The 3.5 mm jack on the back of the JSAUX allows you to connect a pair of speakers or headphones to your computer.
Depending on which MacBook you have, your computer may already have some of these ports. But the advantage of a hub is that you can connect various accessories to it, and then turn them all off by unplugging one cable.
Handy Case
The JSAUX Hub also includes a cable pouch and several adapters. Photo: Ed Hardy of Mac/Cult
The 11.5-inch USB-C cable used to connect the Omnicase 2 Pro to your computer fits into a slot on the top of the hub under a protective cover.
Surrounded by an adapter that allows you to connect a USB-C accessory to a USB-A port, and an adapter that allows you to connect a USB-C cable to your iPhone. There’s also a 90-degree USB-C adapter.
They come in handy when you have a gadget that you can’t connect to your computer otherwise.
Also under the cover are slots for three SD cards and four microSD memory cards. They are very comfortable. As a bonus, there is a SIM eject tool.
JSAUX Omnicase 2 Pro Closing Thoughts
This hub offers a useful array of ports that enhance your Mac. But the same can be said for competing multiport hubs. JSAUX’s idea of a built-in accessory case is an interesting addition that the competition can’t match.
The biggest blow to the hub are the three video ports, which are only useful for connecting an external monitor.
Pricing
The JSAUX Omnicase 2 Pro is now available on Kickstarter. The upfront price is $79.99, discounted from the regular price of $99.99. Delivery is expected in August.

With this adapter, you can listen to music and charge your iPhone 7 at the same time
and charge your iPhone at the same time. Either one or the other, but not both. But, fortunately, manufacturers have already thought about this and offer some solutions.
Belkin accessory company was one of the first to do this. He introduced a simple hub-style adapter that This will allow us to listen to our favorite music on our Lightning headphones while charging our iPhone 7. .

Belkin today announced Lightning Audio + RockStar Charger for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This is an accessory that will allow users of the new iPhone 7 charge your devices and listen to music at the same time .
According to Belkin, this new accessory was developed in close collaboration with Apple and actually closely resembles Apple’s own iOS accessories.
How does it work?
This adapter has a lightning connector on one end that connects to iPhone to transfer power (up to 12W). The other end has two Lightning ports. To one of them, we can connect the new Lightning EarPods that are included with the iPhone 7, other headphones that work with this type of connector, and even any headset using the adapter included with the smartphone. On the other hand, we can connect a Lightning charging cable so that the iPhone 7 is charged at the same time as listening to music.

We are excited to offer Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar to our customers, expanding our RockStar family of multi-port products and creating an easy way for people to charge and listen to music on the go. said Steve Maloney, vice president of GM Belkin.
Not a perfect solution
Belkin’s new RockStar Lightning Audio + Charge adapter is clearly not a perfect solution. If we think more carefully, the solution can be useful if we are in a fixed place (for example, lying in bed and listening to music), however, if we are on the move, and even if we work at a table, mess is insured .
The idea is to be able to use the EarPods Lightning of the new iPhone 7 while we charge our device. In this sense, it is very useful, but only to “get out of trouble.” This adapter includes a cable, a headphone cable that will reach our ears, and another cable, a charging cable that will keep the iPhone 7 “tethered” to the wall. As well stated by MacRumors, this can make an incredible mess with 9 cables0075, not to mention the extreme care we must take when moving.
And if we add to this the use of the Lightning Jack adapter included with the iPhone 7, the result can be even worse: two adapters and two cables are used at the same time.
