8 Best Electric Scooters (2023): Affordable, Lightweight, Long-Range, Fast
Scooters are electric vehicles, so there are a few things you should and shouldn’t do if you get one. First, if you’ve never ridden an electric scooter and are nervous about shelling out for one, try a rideshare service. Companies like Lime, Lyft, and Bird let you grab an escooter for not a lot of money, which is a good way to test the waters.
Wear a helmet. Need I say more? Protect your noggin. Our Biking Accessories guide has some helmet options—my personal favorite is the Thousand Heritage helmet—and follow this guide to fit your helmet the right way.
Check your local laws. Are electric scooters legal where you live? If so, what’s the max speed limit? Do you have to be in the bike lane? Over the past three years, escooters have become a common sight in many cities. Chances are your state or city has spelled out rules about riding them.
Don’t charge your escooter overnight or when no one is home. The manuals of several scooters I’ve tested say the same. Not every battery or charger has a UL certification for safety, and I’ve seen one too many stories of battery fires. Always be around when you’re charging your scooter, and unplug it when it’s finished charging.
Try to avoid the rain. You’ll want to check your scooter to see whether it has official IP water- and dust-resistance ratings. If not, avoid riding in the rain. If there is a rating, it’s still a good idea to get out of the rain quickly. More importantly, do not plug the charger in without wiping down the charging port and ensuring that it’s dry.
Be wary of potholes. My first and only accident on an electric scooter is thanks to a deep pothole. I noticed it too late. If you’re driving a car, you’d probably try and avoid a pothole, so do the same with a scooter.
Don’t store your escooter in excessive temperatures. Extreme heat and extreme cold are not good for batteries. Store your escooter indoors in a cool, dry place, like you would your breakfast cereal!
One rider only, please. Unless a manufacturer explicitly states that an escooter can carry two people, only one rider should be on the deck. These vehicles can go pretty fast, and you don’t need to go more than 20 mph to be in a serious accident. It’s also a good idea to check the weight limit on your scooter.
Check the manufacturer’s servicing and repair options. Before you invest in a new scooter, check if the manufacturer offers spare parts or is able to service your scooter if any issues arise. You may want to connect with local ebike and escooter shops to see if they have experience with the brand you’re going with.
Don’t leave your escooter unattended outdoors. Scooters aren’t easy to secure, so it probably goes without saying that they’re easy to steal. Roll them indoors if you need to, but keep them within sight if you don’t want to walk home, helmet in hand.

To some degree, riding any electric scooter involves some amount of fun, but some are more fun than others. The Niu Kqi3 Max is one of those. It’s fun and fast, has a long range, and is very comfortable to ride.
Among the best electric scooters, the Kqi3 Max isn’t the lightest of models — if you have stairs to climb, look elsewhere — but its 450W motor is powerful enough to get even larger riders (like myself) up hills. Add to that a great design, grippy brakes, and an app that lets you customize your ride, and you’ve got an excellent all-around electric scooter.

Niu Kqi3 Max review: Price and availability
The Kqi3 was first released in 2022, and is available in three versions: The Kqi3 Max, which I tested, costs $999, has a 450W motor, a 40-mile range, and a top speed of 23.6 miles per hour. The Kqi3 Pro retails for $799, and has a 350W motor, 31-mile range, and a top speed of 20 miles per hour. The Kqi3 Sport sells for $699, and has a 300W motor, a range of 25 miles, and a top speed of 17.4 MPH.
The Pro version comes in black with gold trim, while the Sport model is offered in black with four trim options: white, blue, red, or black.
The Kqi3’s headlight is a large circular LED; it looks kind of like one of the best ring lights, and certainly stands out among the other electric scooters I’ve tested. Its taillight is more traditional — a red LED bar across the back of the fender.
The Kqi3 Max is equipped with dual mechanical disc brakes, which are probably overkill but certainly look cool — they’re painted red — and stop the scooter incredibly fast. It also has a rear electronic brake which can be used to recover a little bit of energy and put it back into the battery; Niu says at the top setting (which you can adjust in the Niu app), you can get about 4% battery life back. It’s not a ton, but it’s something.
The Kqi3 Max’s deck is spacious — a good 22.4 x 6.3 inches — which gave my feet plenty of room to rest. Like many electric scooters, the deck is covered in a rubberized material that offers plenty of grip for your shoes.
At 46.3 pounds, the Kqi3 is pretty hefty. Although you can fold its handlebars down very easily — it has a simple but effective latching system — you’d have to be pretty strong if you wanted to carry it around.
For that, you’ll want something much lighter; the Unagi Model One, for instance, checks in at around 27 pounds and is a good deal smaller, making it better for those who need to lift their scooter up stairs. However, the Unagi’s ride isn’t as smooth, as it has smaller rubber wheels.
Niu Kqi3 Max review: Performance
This scooter was a real joy to ride. While its 450W motor is on paper not all that much more powerful than other models I’ve tested, its peak output of 700W really gave the Kqi3 Max some real pickup. It was most noticeable when getting started — the Kqi3 got up to speed faster than other models — and on hills, where this scooter excelled where others dared go.
On my standard test hill — a 6 percent road grade — the Kqi3 Max was able to maintain a speed of around 10 MPH, which is pretty good. Other scooters, such as the TurboAnt V8, which has a 450W motor, could muster 6 MPH at best.
I then took the Kqi3 Max on an adjoining street, which has a much steeper grade — around 9 percent in one section — that’s a bane to both scooters and cyclists alike. Here, the scooter slowed down to about 5-6 MPH, but still kept chugging.
On level terrain, the Kqi3 Max quickly accelerated to its max speed, and flew me around my neighborhood with ease. It doesn’t have any suspension, but its large 9.5-inch self-healing tires more than padded things along my ride.
Niu Kqi3 Max review: Battery life
Niu says that the Kqi3’s 46.8V 486.7Wh Lithium Battery is good for a range of up to 40 miles — similar to the 40+ mile range of the Segway Ninebot Kickscooter Max and the TurboAnt V8. Also like those other scooters, the Max’s actual range was much less in my testing.
After riding it up and down a good number of hills and at full speed, I was able to get about 20 miles out of the Kqi3 Max before it needed a recharge. To be fair, the expectation vs reality of the Kqi3 Max is not too different from other scooters I’ve tested. If you’re smaller or lighter than me, or plan to ride it on mostly level roads, you’ll most likely see a better range.
Niu Kqi3 Max review: App
One clever feature in the Niu app lets you increase the maximum speed of the Kqi3; while you only get a boost to about 23MPH, it feels like you’re unlocking a cheat code.
Other features of the app let you see how far you’ve traveled on the scooter, your average speed, and where you’ve gone (provided you initiate a riding session in the app). The app also lets you remotely lock and unlock the scooter — a nice safety measure — and adjust how much.
As someone who reviews a lot of electric scooters, there are generally several models in my garage at any one time — much to the chagrin of my wife, who would like to park our car in there sometime. Lately, when I’ve opened the door and picked a scooter for a pleasure ride, it’s been the Niu Kqi3 Max. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s powerful enough to get me up and down the hills in my town. It looks great, too. At $999, it is on the pricey side, so I also suggest taking a look at the Niu Kqi3 Pro, which is $200 less.
If you need to lug an electric scooter on a train or up a flight of stairs, the 26-pound Unagi Model One is still the best option. But, as the best all-around electric scooter — and don’t mind the price — the Nui Kqi3 is at the top of our list.

Powerful city and off-road electric scooter with serious payload!
The attention of those around you is guaranteed! Large wheels for walking on gravel, paving stones, grass, sand and snow. Roomy bags for those who are used to carrying everything with them!
One of the key advantages of this model is the speed – maximum up to 50 km/h. To master the control of this device, it will take quite a bit of time: the gas handle, the brake handle – everything is extremely simple. Therefore, even if you have never driven such vehicles, it will take you no more than five minutes to master the driving technique.
But the rest of the time you can fully devote to studying its capabilities – already in working mode. The scooter impresses not only with its dynamics, speed and functionality, but also with its price. However, this is exactly the case when investments fully justify themselves in the long run. This is because this electric scooter is designed for long and trouble-free operation.
Optionally, it can be equipped with a quick-detachable roof rack, to which a trolley trailer can be attached using a tow bar.
This roof rack can also carry small loads.
The device can be placed vertically on the trunk so that it takes up less space when stored, for example by placing it against a wall.

Triple socket in one socket: installation and connection
Pros and cons of triple sockets
Modern apartments are equipped with more and more household appliances. Therefore, the demand for more sockets is constantly growing, especially in large rooms. To solve this problem, many apartment owners prefer to install blocks of three or more outlets.
Installing triple outlets is becoming increasingly popular due to its many benefits:
Reliable and secure fastening.
No need for additional wiring.
The ability to quickly switch from single to triple outlets while increasing the overall functionality of your home’s electrical system.
Simple and quick repair in case of malfunction.
Ease of installation, ease of use and relatively affordable cost.
Despite the obvious advantages, many people prefer to install multiple outlets in one place rather than using a single block. This is mainly due to the potential disadvantages that are inherent in such products.
Deficiencies include:
The mechanical load on the nest increases dramatically. Over time, it begins to wear out and eventually reaches a critical state. This can lead to serious problems, ranging from minor malfunctions to short circuits.
Using a triple outlet to power multiple devices can result in excessive electrical stress, which can cause both the wiring and the device to malfunction if left unaddressed.
Large overall dimensions increase the likelihood of mechanical damage, especially in the case of quadruple sockets and sockets with even more divisions.
If normal load calculations are carried out with some margin, the triple socket block will perform its functions optimally, providing more comfortable and convenient conditions for using household appliances.
Requirements for sockets
There is no exact set of rules for the placement of boxes for hidden electrical outlets. Any electrical wiring must be carried out in accordance with fire regulations. In addition, building codes and regulations (SNIP) set standards for where sockets should be located in a room.
We will try to combine all the circumstances under which the installation of socket boxes will not have a negative impact on work.
Boxes must be made of durable material that can withstand the force with which the plug is removed from the socket. In addition, it should not be able to be pulled out of the wall along with the socket. Socket boxes designed to be installed on a mortar (usually plaster or alabaster) have stamped ridges, grooves and hooks on their outer surface, which helps with fastening. Technological holes for wiring also serve as clamps.
The thick, viscous mortar fills all the cracks and crevices, making it almost impossible to detach the case without damaging the wall or breaking the plastic.
Most socket boxes are made up of various types of plastic. It is economical, at the same time it is a dielectric and is not subject to destruction from moisture.
Molded ribs on the inside of the boxes are designed to hold sockets securely. Many people remember Soviet-built apartments, which had sockets that easily flew out of the wall with a little pressure. Previously, such electrical outlets were made of metal, not only was it dangerous, but also the spacers could not adhere to its smooth surface.
The socket boxes are also equipped with holes for secure fastening with screws.
The plastic used to make sockets must not be flammable. This condition does not apply to concrete or brick walls. However, wallpaper on the wall or furniture around the outlet can be ignited by a burning plug.
The ability to connect multiple outlets using standard clamps is very advantageous. This makes it possible to assemble a frame of any size.
Main types and designs of sockets
The main types of sockets can be classified according to the type of voltage applied, the material from which they are made, and the type of installation.
1. By voltage type:
2. According to the material:
plastic sockets
metal sockets
ceramic sockets
3. By installation type:
recessed sockets (also called “surface” sockets)
hanging sockets (for installation at a height, for example, on the ceiling)
countertop sockets (for installation on a table or on kitchen surfaces)
4. By type of grounding:
Outlet designs may also vary by manufacturer and country of use. For example, round rosettes are often used in Europe, while quadrangular sockets are often used in Asia. Socket outlets may be designed with various features such as protective shutters to prevent accidental contact with electrical outlets or devices with automatic overload shutdown.
Triple socket assembly accessories
To assemble a triple socket, you will need the following components:
Triple sockets: three sockets with the appropriate number of contacts and applied tension.
Socket Boxes: Socket Boxes that fit the type of triple sockets and choose the right model for the color and design of the walls.
Fixings : Depending on the type of installation, suitable fixings, such as screws or clips, must be selected to secure the box and sockets to the wall or surface.
Wires : A minimum of three wires must be selected to connect each socket to the lead wires in the wall, and also to ground if grounding is used.
Cable ties: cable ties help organize your wires and provide a neater look.
Tools: Triple socket installation requires basic tools such as screwdrivers, wire cutters and pliers.
It is important to choose quality components that comply with safety and electrical standards, as well as not violate the rules for safe installation and connection of outlets.
Triple socket assembly
Before starting installation, it is important to inspect the area where the sockets will be installed and prepare the necessary materials.
Markup. The first step in installing a triple outlet is to mark the location on the wall. Make sure there are no wires or pipes nearby that could be damaged when drilling holes for installation. Mark the location of the sockets with a pencil and use a ruler or level.
Drilling a hole in the wall. Once you have determined the exact location for the outlets, it’s time to start drilling holes in the wall into which the screws will be screwed to attach the outlets. To do this, use an electric drill with special nozzles. Fixing the socket. Insert plastic dowels into each hole and push them firmly inward so that they do not pop out during further work with sockets.
Connection . After that, proceed to connect the cables; Start by unscrewing the terminals on the back of each socket and thread the loose ends through the appropriate holes. Ensure that the earth cable connection terminal has an insulating sheath all around by placing it inside the main body of the socket before making the other two wire-to-neutral connections as marked on the back of the body of each terminal. Connect all three cables (together with additional earth/disconnect switches if required) using elbow pliers and assemble all components into a fixed position, then fasten the screws and clips located on the back and fasten the front screws tightly. Connect power and check for correct operation before completing the installation process.
Rules and Safety for Installation
Rules and safety when installing outlets are very important to avoid electric shock and ensure the safe operation of household electrical appliances. Here are some suggestions:
Always turn off power when installing outlets. This prevents possible contact with live wires.
Before installation, check that the intended number of pins on the socket matches your needs and the applied voltage.
The installation of sockets should be carried out at a safe distance from water and gas pipes to prevent their unintentional contact.
Always use the proper tools and equipment to avoid damaging the outlet or wires.
Avoid loose mounting of outlets on a surface or wall. Secure all items well.
Never touch live or powered wires with bare hands. Plan all connections in advance and avoid direct contact with electrical outlets.
Make sure all wires are connected to the correct pins on the sockets.
Leave enough space between installed outlets to ensure good ventilation and prevent overheating.
If you doubt your knowledge and experience in installing outlets, it is best to contact a qualified electrician.
These recommendations will help you avoid unpleasant situations during the installation of sockets and ensure safety when operating electrical installations in the house.

Application
Connectors of the SPM series are designed for switching electrical circuits for currents up to 350 A and voltages up to 2000 V. Connectors are a universal system that allows solving a wide range of tasks for organizing electrical connections in various industries.
SPM connectors consist of plastic modules of plugs (PPM) and sockets (RPM), differing in the number of contacts, rated current and voltage, as well as mounting frames of various types for installation in cable and instrument cases or for use in draw-out units of low-voltage complete devices (NKU ). Delivery of SPM modular rectangular connectors in assembled form is made by special order.
The advantage of the modular system is the possibility of using the required number of contacts in one dimension, as well as combining contacts for different currents in one connector. A small number of module types allows you to reduce the range of used connectors and optimize inventory.

The cable is just under four feet in length, so it stretches long and coils back up when you don’t need the extra reach.

All of the car chargers on our list do an admiral job of charging your best iPhone. The iPhone car charger that makes it to the top of our list is the Anker PowerDrive 2. We love that it sits flush against your charging port and handles the needs of two phones at once.
And if you want a super long cable that won’t crack or tangle, go with the Syncwire car charger. It has a four-foot coiled Lightning cable and a USB port. Any of these iPhone car accessories will make your life a lot easier when driving.
If you do have an iPhone 12 or newer, we’d recommend getting one of the best MagSafe car chargers mentioned above or on our separate list. It’s just easier to pop your iPhone onto a MagSafe charger and not have to fuss with plugging and unplugging cables.

Final Thoughts
Should I really choose a DSLR camera as a beginner?
A DSLR camera provides endless opportunities for creative expression and exploration. Experimenting with an array of shooting techniques of your DSLR will help you get a better overall grasp of photography.
The flexibility to change lenses is a significant benefit of having a DSLR camera. You will have greater shooting options and your photography skills will improve significantly. Suffice to say, if you’re using a DSLR, you should be OK swapping lenses.
Shooting with a DSLR can be a lot of fun too. If you want to go Pro, make DSLR your primary camera and perhaps a mirrorless as your backup option.
Advantages of a DSLR camera
DSLR is an abbreviation for Digital Single Lens Reflex. They are adaptable and durable cameras that you can bring with you on every photographic outing. No matter what level of photography skills you’re at, there is a DSLR that will meet your needs.
Let’s examine what makes a DSLR camera a better buy:
Sharper print and image quality
DSLR cameras use far larger image sensors to capture photos, resulting in higher-quality images than point-and-shoot cameras.
Bigger sensors focus more light on the image and thus, enhancing the overall quality of the shots you take. These big sensors also capture images with higher dynamic ranges, allowing for the production of a wider variety of colors.
A larger sensor minimizes the amount of blur and noise in photographs. As a result, images shot with DSLRs appear considerably sharper and more vivid when printed.
Also, better images in low light
DSLR cameras have great light sensitivity. This benefit lets you capture photos in dimly lit environments. This is why a lot of wildlife photographers use DSLRs to capture night-time scenes.
Faster auto-focus and shutter speed
The image sensor in point-and-shoot cameras serves two functions. One is to focus on the subject and the other to shoot the photo. As a result, the camera takes its time to focus and process the image, resulting in shutter lag. This is why, in many cases, people are unable to take clear photographs of moving subjects with standard cameras.
These actions are distributed between two sensors in a DSLR camera; which is the image sensor and the phase detection sensor. The image sensor is in charge of capturing the image, while the phase detection sensor is in charge of keeping the target in focus.
As a result, DSLRs have quicker focusing shutter speeds, allowing you to shoot images one after the other. This is especially advantageous when you’re taking several photographs in a short period of time and don’t have time to manually focus on the subject.
More and better controls
DSLRs are incredibly advanced cameras. They provide you with the ability to make subtle yet important adjustments that can enhance the outcome of your photo shooting. You can adjust the ISO, shutter speed, aperture, or white balance. Most standard cameras don’t have these features.
Interchangeable lenses
A DSLR camera also supports a variety of lenses. You can utilise different lenses or mount extra lenses, depending on your needs. For close portrait photography, you can use an 85mm lens, or go with 50mm to capture a wider view.
Other cameras don’t have this function, which makes DSLRs unique when it comes to professional photography.
Longer battery life
Compared to point-and-shoot or mirrorless cameras, DSLRs typically have longer battery life. You can click at least up to 500 high-quality images on a full charge using a beginner DSLR camera. Depending on the settings used when capturing the images, this number may vary.
How do I choose my first DSLR camera?
Primary features to look out for:
Price
Spending too little can result in a camera with subpar image quality, while spending too much will put a dent on your budget. If you’re considering buying a DSLR camera, it’s important to be realistic with your own budget.
While there are some amazing DSLR bundle deals out there, they tend to include a lot of camera accessories that you’ll probably never use…or are low quality and will break after a couple of uses.
Our best advice; spend your money on a recent camera model, and if you’re going for the bundle, just get one that includes a lens or two.
As you have more money, consider investing in new lenses to expand your photography skills.
Image quality
You already know how vital this functionality is. All DSLR cameras should be able to shoot way much better than your phone. Examine product reviews and the resolution specs of the DSLR you’re interested in.
Types of lenses
The flexibility to change lenses is a significant benefit of having a DSLR camera. Most DSLR packages offer only one lens and most of them won’t zoom very far.
Interchangeable lens camera or lens kit adds significant value to your photography endeavour. If you’re opting for it, consider the price range, focal lengths, and if there are used lenses available, they could be a worthwhile investment too!
Size and ergonomics
Size is more of a personal preference, and it is also quite subjective. The ergonomics of a camera refers to not just how it feels on your hand, but also where the buttons are located. It should feel sturdy in your hands and not too big to accompany you on all of your adventures. We recommend reading reviews and gauging the size of a camera by its measurements.
Autofocus (AF) and shutter speed
Most modern DSLRs priced around $500 and more offer adequate autofocus speed for casual use.
A faster shutter speed (anything above 5 frames per sec.) will help you capture fast-moving subjects, but it must be combined with good autofocus tracking ability to guarantee your images are in focus.
However, the ability to fire off hundreds of frames isn’t necessarily a desirable thing, as there’s also the issue of how quickly your buffer can ‘clear’ (how long the camera will be ‘locked up’ while transferring photos to the memory card).
By comparing the specs of several DSLR models, you should be able to determine which one best meets your performance requirements.
Secondary features to consider
The following features will help you make your final decision when choosing your first ever DSLR camera. Only you will know whether they’re indeed crucial for your needs. So, just have a look.
Manual shooting modes – if you’re serious about learning and growing your photography skills, a camera with a Manual shooting mode is essential.
High ISO performance – allows you to shoot photos in low light without using a flash.
Rotating LCD screen – useful for experimenting with compositions.
Image stabilization – for better video recording and handheld shooting.
RAW image – often known as “digital negatives,” they include all of the data that your camera sensor captured in a shot…unprocessed. When editing, RAW images provide greater flexibility than JPEGs.
Mic input/output – essential for video recording
Weatherproofing/Dustproofing – helpful if you travel a lot or shoot in various weather conditions.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity – useful to transfer photos and videos wirelessly.

Canon EOS Rebel T8i specs: Weight: 2.9 lbs (1.3kg) Focus type: Auto Max resolution: 24.1 megapixels Video capture resolution: 2160p Shooting speed: 7 frames per sec.

Canon EOS 2000D
Best budget DSLR camera
Canon EOS 2000D

£393 at Amazon£459 at John Lewis£520 at jacamo. co.uk
Ideal for new photographers, the EOS 2000D is still a decent step up from Canon’s lowest-priced 4000D, and it has a more robust metal lens mount and better high-resolution sensor compared to the cheapest model. It still comes in at a budget price, though, and delivers impressive picture quality. On test, the shots in natural light and photos of people were full of striking colours and details. We found the outdoor shots impressive too. Despite its intimidating looks, it is also very easy to use and is still an entry-level camera. There are some drawbacks, though, as rival models are better for autofocus and the zoom on the bundled kit lens was not as smooth as others.

Best DSLR camera for beginners
Canon EOS 4000D
£339 at Amazon
For the cheapest possible recommended retail price and an accessible design for beginners, we think the affordable Canon EOS 4000D is the way to go. On test, the camera took good shots in natural light, with realistic colours and sharp details. Close-up shots were also impressive and the camera picked up minor details. It is simple to use too, as it gives you information on-screen about each setting on the camera, so you know what each of them does – making it ideal for beginners. We were impressed with the battery life, with it lasting for 500 shots on a single charge. Some of the cameras we have tested have been as low as 200. It’s light too, weighing in at 436g, but it does have a much less premium build compared to rival models.

Pentax K-70
Best DSLR camera for enthusiasts
Pentax K-70
£699 at Amazon
Pentax may be the only remaining camera brand showing that it’s still committed to making DSLR bodies, with a recent minor rebrand of this K-70 model as the Pentax KF. That model only has small differences, though, so we’d still suggest considering this DSLR that takes good photos and is simple to use. On test, the images taken of people were especially impressive, plus shots outdoors were colourful and vibrant, capturing a lot of small details. The HD video wasn’t as impressive, though, and sometimes flickered. We also weren’t impressed by the battery life either, which only lasted for 480 shots (compared to 600 shots from a lot of other DSLRs).
• Dimensions: 9.3 x 12.55 x 7.4 cm • Weight: 688g • Resolution: 24.2MP • Battery life: 480 shots

Nikon D5600
£1,489 at Amazon
This Nikon model is aimed at the keen amateur looking for a versatile, easy-to-use camera offering plenty of features and creative control. It has a long battery life and can be constantly connected via Bluetooth to your smartphone and transfer your photos as they take them. It has both a viewfinder and a large 3.2-inch fully-articulated touchscreen to help you frame your shots. We think it’s still one of the best options for most photographers as Nikon has an enormous selection of lenses, and there are loads of third-party options too. The battery life and capabilities of this model will enable any photographer to learn and hone their skills over years to come.

What’s the difference between DSLR and mirrorless cameras?
If you’re stuck between choosing a DSLR and a mirrorless camera, it’s worth understanding the difference between them. Mirrorless cameras let light through directly to the sensor all the time and then digitally preview the image on the electronic viewfinder or LCD screen. In contrast, the mirror in a DSLR camera reflects light from the lens to the viewfinder. This means that when you look through the viewfinder, you are seeing exactly what the camera “sees”. When you press the shutter button, the mirror flips out of the way, the shutter opens and the light hits the image sensor, capturing the final image.
Which is a better brand, Nikon or Canon?
When shopping around, you’ll notice there are two main brands for DSLR cameras, Nikon and Canon. These brands have a long history of camera manufacturing and are clear leaders in SLR technology. Both offer a wide range of lenses to suit many budgets, so either is a good option if you’re picking a camera and lens system to stick with when developing your photography.

Do more megapixels mean better photo quality?
Not necessarily. You’ll see the number of megapixels (MP) when comparing models, but the quality of megapixels matters just as much as quantity. More pixels don’t always mean more detail, as some would have you believe. If you’re planning on making large prints of photos, megapixels can matter, but it won’t be important if you’re just sharing snaps on social media. A higher amount will mean a larger sharp print can be made from the image, though. The DSLRs on our list are between 20 and 25MP, which is more than enough. It’s important to remember that megapixels aren’t the be-all and end-all, the size of the image sensor and the type of lenses available will have more of an impact on the image quality.
What’s the difference between lenses on a camera?
Different lenses will be useful for taking different types of photos. You’ll need to know what aperture and focal length you’ll need when looking to buy a new lens.
Aperture: The maximum aperture refers to how much light the lens can let through to the sensor. Aperture is expressed in f-numbers like f/1.4, f/2, and f/2.8 – the smaller the number, the more light enters the camera (and the more expensive the lens will be). Then, it’s time to think about focal length.
Focal length: Focal length is represented in millimetres (mm) but doesn’t refer to the length of the lens itself. These measurements indicate how much of the scene will be captured and how large individual parts of the scene will be.
Choosing lenses: There are lenses that are a fixed focal length (known as “prime” lenses) and those that have a variable focal length (zoom lenses). As a general rule of thumb, between 14-24mm is ultra-wide, 24-35mm is wide, 35mm-70mm is referred to as standard, and everything from 70-300mm is telephoto. However, this can vary depending on the size of your sensor.
Key DSLR features to look out for
Firstly, you should start looking for a DSLR that fits within your budget. They range from under £300 right up into the many thousands. If you already own a collection of lenses, then it could be a good idea to buy the body based on that. But if not then you should start by buying a DSLR that comes with a kit lens (this will be a reasonably versatile zoom) and build your collection from there. It’s also worth thinking about battery life before you buy, especially if you intend to use it a lot. The average battery life for a DSLR is about 600 shots, though this number can be much higher or lower. Connectivity may also be important if you want to easily transfer files from the camera to your phone or computer using wifi or NFC (near-field connectivity).

Manual controls explained
DSLRs allow you to control everything manually, including the shutter speed (how quickly the shutter opens and closes), the aperture (the opening that controls the amount of light that passes through the lens and falls on the image sensor), and ISO (the sensitivity of the sensor).
Most models will come with a range of preset scene modes – landscape, portrait, night etc – to help you get the shot without having to tweak any manual settings, but playing around with manual settings is the best way to get creative and learn more about photography.
Is a DSLR camera good for video?
If you’re looking to shoot video too, a DSLR is a great option. Many of these cameras can be highly versatile and deliver high-quality results. Consider the resolution the camera is capable of when you’re looking at your options. Some will shoot in HD and others will be able to record 4K videos.

Gas Grill Safety – Grill Safety Practices for Natural Gas & Propane BBQs
Whether you are a seasoned expert or the proud owner of a brand new Napoleon Grill, grill safety is something that should be kept in mind always. These grill safety practices for natural gas and propane barbecues should be common sense and common knowledge; however, sometimes it is good to take a minute to review the rules of safe BBQ operation.
General Safety
General safety items that should be done no matter what grill you own include:
Always read the manual when you get a new grill.
Keep your BBQ outside; you should never operate any grill indoors, or in the garage. Propane and natural gas barbecues should be operated in well-ventilated areas and follow all safe operating practices listed in the owner’s manual.
Maintain proper clearance to combustibles. As per the manufacturer’s suggestions, we recommend 20 inches to the rear of the grill, 7 inches from the sides, and 24 inches if the grill is placed near vinyl siding.
Use only an outdoor-rated extension cord when plugging in your grill to the required GFI outlet.
Ensure the grill is completely cooled before covering after cooking.
When lighting your grill, keep the lid open. This prevents gas from pooling within the grill box and under the lid, which would – best-case – leave you with some interesting looking eyebrows.
After you are done cooking and have given your grill a little scrub – more on that later – shut down the grill properly. Turn off the burners, then the gas at the tank, or your natural gas – there should be a shut off close to the grill.
SafetyGlow changes the light on the grill control knobs from blue to red when the gas is on. This means that you can’t accidentally leave your BBQ on. It’s also handy to indicate where your heat zones are for direct and indirect grilling.
LED spectrum NIGHT LIGHT™ control knobs take the life-changing NIGHT LIGHT™ and SafetyGlow knobs to a whole new level. Customize the look of your NIGHT LIGHT™ control knobs from the original blue LED lights to any color in the spectrum with the exception of SafetyGlow red so that you can tell when your grill is-a-cookin’. Can’t decide on a color? Cycle through the spectrum instead, making your nighttime grilling a psychedelic experience.
Propane Grills
Aside from the general rules of safe grilling, propane grills have their own set of rules that should be followed.
Leak test your grill every time the propane cylinder is refilled and changed.
Propane cylinders should not be stored indoors or in the garage, even portable ones. They should be stored in a well-ventilated shed away from the house or, failing that outdoors in a shady spot if they are not being used. Do not store tanks that aren’t being used (spare or extra tanks) in places where the temperature can get too hot, like a car in the middle of summer or under the grill, not hooked up.
When Cooking on the BBQ
We have a few blogs on food safety, however, there are a few things to consider when you are cooking on your Napoleon grill that aren’t specifically related to the food temperatures and time. Things like:
Always have things on hand to move hot food on and off the grill. This can include a sturdy pair of tongs, heat resistant BBQ gloves, spatulas, and boards or plates to put the food onto when done.
Be prepared for any eventuality, which includes fire safety. Always have a box or two of baking soda on hand in the off chance of a grease fire. When plank grilling, have a spray bottle or a bucket of water on hand in case the plank ignites.
Food safety is also very important considering it is what you are using your BBQ for in the first place. Remember to use sanitary practices including washing your hands, avoiding cross-contamination by using clean utensils and boards instead of the ones that were used to transport the raw foods.
Finally, remember to keep your Napoleon Grill clean. Empty the drip tray and scrape out the drip pan every 4 to 5 uses, and give your barbecue a deep clean at least twice per season.
Hopefully you reviewed the rules of safe barbecuing when using natural gas and propane grills. Most of these rules should be automatically followed. Did you learn anything new? Tell us about your best grilling experiences by sharing on our social pages like Facebook and Instagram by using the hashtags #GreatestGrill and #NapoleonGrills.
Happy Grilling!

how to choose? — Village Club Blog
Portable gas grill gives you the ability to barbecue, fry vegetables, fish, poultry, sausages, sausages and hamburger patties almost anywhere. The compact device can be taken with you to the country house, to a picnic or barbecue at home – in the yard or on the terrace. Due to its light weight, it is easy to carry and transport. It does not require complex assembly, and it is very easy to use. The modern design allows you to do this without difficulty, not only for men, but also for fragile ladies.
Today, such devices are in trend. A fashionable accessory decorates a country house or cottage and speaks of the good taste and wealth of the owner. Even if you do not yet have a personal cottage or country estate, you can earn the approval of friends by taking such a useful device for a picnic or camping trip.
An important point: despite their small size, such devices cook no worse than the “older” stationary counterparts. Meat, fish, vegetables, sausages and sausages are surprisingly juicy and fragrant.
Benefits of outdoor gas grills
Many users in Russia have already appreciated the benefits of this modern equipment.
The small dimensions make it possible to store the device in a closet or on a balcony. Very convenient for a resident of an ordinary city apartment.
You can transport the device in the trunk of a car, and the most compact models can even be carried in a backpack.
Possibility to control the temperature of the heating of the product due to the presence of several burners. The brazier on the corner does not have such a function.
Frequency of use. The gas burns completely without forming soot. The surroundings are clean, and the clothes are not saturated with the “aroma” of smoke.
The cooking process is controlled, it is almost impossible to burn the product.
No open flames as the design includes a cover. This is relevant if you are concerned about the safety of, for example, young children.
Economy. The use of liquefied natural gas as a fuel is in fact less costly than cooking on charcoal or wood. The fact is that the gas is burned almost completely during the combustion process, which ensures high efficiency (efficiency) of the gas appliance.
Independence from electricity, as well as a large supply of fuel (coal or firewood). The device is powered by a small cylinder. No need to carry coal with you or look for firewood during outdoor recreation.
Variety of designs. Most of these devices are available in the shape of a rectangle. However, there are many models of other configurations – in the form of an oval or semi-oval, circle, trapezoid. The color range is also extensive. In addition to the popular design in black or silver, you can order the device with a cover in blue, red, yellow, orange, beige and other shades. All this makes it easy to choose an option that suits the style and color of the environment, for example, on the site of a country house or in the country.
As for the objections of adherents of traditional charcoal grills about the absence of a specific “smoky taste” in barbecue, this issue is easily resolved. It is enough to add “liquid smoke” to the marinade – and the result will be almost the same as when using a charcoal grill.
Design features of mini gas grills
Such mobile devices consist of a body with a burner, which is mounted on a trolley. It also has a place for a gas cylinder. Some models have additional shelves where you can put tools and products.
Folds up like a suitcase, with wheels to make it look like a travel bag. Touring models do not have wheels, they are smaller and lighter. Can be carried in special bags. Convenient when you decide to travel on foot.
Desktop solutions available. The body rests on legs. You can put the device on a table or other flat surface.
Due to the special design of the grill, during the cooking process, fat from meat, sausages, sausages, cutlets does not fall on the burner.
The number of burners varies, as does the shape of their surface. Corrugated burners are relevant in the preparation of sausages, sausages and meat. It is good to fry vegetables, meatballs or fish on smooth ones. There are options where both types are combined. The power of the device is determined by the number of burners: the more, the higher the performance.
Well-known brand products are carefully designed. Folding legs, zippered handles, built-in gas pressure regulators, a fat collection tray, an instant ignition system and other options increase the comfort level when using the device. Can be completed with a portable table.
What are mobile gas grills made of?
Stainless steel is characterized by high resistance to corrosion, temperature extremes, mechanical shock. A nice bonus is the beautiful sheen of the steel surface. For different models steels of various steels can be used. This is reflected in the cost of the final product.
Ceramic. The use of this environmentally friendly, safe for humans and animals material guarantees the absence of harmful impurities in cooked food. Ceramics helps to preserve the nutritional value and taste properties of products. Fish, meat, vegetables are especially juicy. An additional plus is that the ceramic coating does not require complicated maintenance. It is easily cleaned of contaminants using simple means.
Cast iron. This option is especially durable. “Black” metal is characterized by increased hardness and strength. It cools down slowly, retaining heat. Cast iron models allow you to cook delicious dishes and look respectable, impressive. The disadvantages include the solid weight of such material. However, with a cart with wheels and a personal car, this problem is completely solvable.
Parts of the body, tray, grille of the appliance can be made of different materials. As a rule, a combination is used in one device. For example, the burner is made of stainless steel, and the grate is made of cast iron. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to what the elements of the product are made of.
How to Choose a Outdoor Gas BBQ Grill
Experts in the field recommend considering a few key factors when selecting this type of appliance.
Number of people for whom you plan to cook at the same time. If there are many guests, it is better to choose a more powerful model so as not to make you wait a long time until the dish is ready.
Grid frequency. On wide rods, located closer to each other, meat and other products are baked better than on round and thin ones.
What do you like to cook. The shape of the brazier depends on this. Fans of meat are better off buying a model with a corrugated surface. Those who like fish and vegetables more – with smooth. The best option is to have both. Then all dishes will turn out equally well. And to expand the menu, you should choose a device with additional functions of baking or smoking.
Price. This parameter varies over a fairly wide range. Here, buyers are guided by their financial capabilities.
How to connect a portable gas barbecue grill
It only takes a few minutes to start cooking your favorite dishes. First, the device is installed on a solid, flat surface, then a gas cylinder is connected to it through the side fitting. And that’s all – you can set it on fire and immediately begin to invent culinary masterpieces. It is not required to wait until it “burns out”, as in coal or wood-burning devices.
Quality equipment
Finally, the most important selection criterion is the reliability of the manufacturer. Buying a device of a well-known, well-established brand on the market, you get a guaranteed durable product. The service life of such equipment exceeds ten years. You can enjoy your favorite dishes with your loved ones for a long time.
Anyone can choose a suitable option in our online store. The catalog contains models of different capacities, different designs and sizes.

What is a GSM unlocked iPhone?
To best explain what a GSM unlocked iPhone is, we’ll first need to get a little technical. If you’re not a huge tech geek, you probably won’t know that all carriers in the United States use one of two different technologies for transmitting their signal: GSM or CDMA. T-Mobile and AT&T use GSM while Verizon uses CDMA. If you were doing some online shopping and found a deal on a GSM unlocked iPhone, chances are this phone will only properly work on the listed GSM Networks like T-Mobile and AT&T. This may not be a problem for you, but if you ever intend to switch to Verizon, keep in mind that you’ll probably need to buy a new iPhone.
But don’t worry, just because you’re using an iPhone on a GSM network doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t work on Verizon. How can you be sure? Read this article about whether an unlocked iPhone can be used on Verizon to find out 🙂
Now that we know what “GSM unlocked iPhone” means…
Now that we know what it means if your iPhone is GSM unlocked, we should talk about if it still makes sense to buy one. And what’s the answer? Well, that depends on who you are. If you are a devoted & loyal T-Mobile or AT&T user, then perhaps a GSM unlocked iPhone will meet your needs. But if you are thinking about switching to Verizon and like the freedom of swapping carriers anytime, get an unlocked iPhone that has both GSM and CDMA antennas.
Our favorite cheap unlocked iPhones to buy right now? The unlocked iPhone 8 and unlocked iPhone X. And if you want something a little newer that will last you longer, consider buying the unlocked iPhone 11 or unlocked iPhone 11 Pro.

It has become a routine for carriers to lock iPhones to use their networks, making it impossible for users to change the network during that period. It is taken as a precaution to encourage the customers to stick with only one carrier. But with the unlocking options we have, it is now easy to remove these GSM locks on iPhones in minutes. This is a complete guide to unlock your GSM-locked iPhones. Let’s start with some basic concepts of GSM.
What’s GSM iPhone meaning?
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile and is a type of network used for mobile voice and data transmission. We must bear in mind that if we have an iPhone with a GSM lock, we can’t use any other carrier unless we release it. In simple terms, you are restricted to use only one carrier, not more than that.
Why is My GSM iPhone locked?
Usually, when you buy an iPhone from the carrier, they include a SIM card as a single package. In most cases, they lock your phone only to use their network, not any other. When you try to change the SIM to a different carrier, you might come across various warnings like “Phone Restricted”, “Contact Service Provider”, “Enter Unlock Code” etc. This means you have to stick with the SIM card they provided to you or contact the service provider and ask about unlocking possibilities.
How to Unlock GSM iPhone?
Unlocking a GSM-locked iPhone has never been this easy. Now there are many ways of overcoming the lock legally and illegally. For some of the iPhone models, all the unlocking methods might not work. So you must read our article on how to unlock iPhone Carrier (All iPhone Supported) to find out what unlocking method suits you the better.
Also, there are different tools and utility software introduced by third-party sites that have made our life easy. When using a website of this type, check the reviews and be cautious since you provide some sensitive information. In today’s article, let’s discuss one of our recommended tools; iToolab SIMUnlocker.
iToolab SIMUnlocker:GSM iPhone Unlocker
Tech Spec:support iPhone 5S – iPhone X
One of the best tools introduced to bypass carrier SIM lock is iToolab SIMUnlocker. It supports all the latest iOS versions and has frequent updates compatible with the released iOS versions. It doesn’t matter the carrier you use; SIMUnlocker can unlock your SIM as you wish.

How to use it?
Step 1: Download and Install the software
To start, head over to the SIMUnlocker official website and download the SIMUnlocker software. After downloading, install it on your PC.
Step 2: Connect your iPhone
After installing, open the software and connect your iPhone to the computer. The iPhone will ask you to trust the device to complete the connection.
Step 3: Jailbreak the device
Once you connect the iPhone, SIMUnlocker will run an eligibility test to figure out the device eligibility to jailbreak. Follow the instructions to jailbreak your iPhone with Checkra1n on Mac or jailbreak on Windows.
Step 4: Wait few minutes to complete
Then click on the Unlock button to begin the bypassing process. The software will handle the process by itself, After few minutes, iPhone will automatically restart, and then you have an iPhone with GSM unlocked. Now you can use any SIM from any carrier.
Is it Legal to Unlock a GSM iPhone?
Unlocking a GSM-locked phone is not illegal. But if you are doing it yourself during the warranty period, you might violate the carrier’s terms and conditions. This means your warranty with your carrier is canceled, and you no longer get support for any issue during that period for free. If you need to use a different carrier, you can either discuss the matter with your carrier or buy an iPhone with an unlocked GSM.

How to unlock your iPhone online for use with any GSM carrier on iOS 11
Contents
1 Things to consider
2 Step 1. Disable Find My iPhone
3 Step 2. Add R-SIM into the SIM card tray.
4 Step 3: Add unsupported SIM card
5 Step 4: Change SIM card ICCID
6 Step 5: Enable activate
7 Step 6: Repeat (if needed)
If you want to use your iPhone with a different carrier, all you have to do is contact the original carrier to request an unlock, which is usually provided within a few days. Unfortunately, you need to meet certain criteria to officially unlock your iPhone, such as paying the device in full and completing any contracts. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a workaround you can use beforehand.
An exploit has been found in iOS that allows iPhone to be unlocked for use with any GSM network; This is done with an external SIM chip that allows you to change the ICCID that the iPhone thinks is connected to the SIM you want to use, effectively spoofing the device. The process is quite simple, although there are some factors that you need to pay attention to when going through the process.
Continue reading to learn how to unlock a network-locked iPhone that you purchased from a third-party vendor as-is or with installment payment from your carrier. Luckily, it’s pretty easy and doesn’t even require a jailbreak. Please note that this guide assumes that you are running the latest version of iOS.
Things to Consider
Before we get started, it’s important to note that this process requires R-SIM 12 to spoof your iPhone and change its ICCID. This chip will not bypass iCloud activation locks and will not function on blacklisted iPhones. In other words, don’t buy this product if one of them applies to you. For everyone else, you can buy R-SIM from 9 different places0003

This network unlock method will work on the following iPhones and CDs MA on iOS 11 up to iOS 11. 4.1:
iPhone 5
iPhone 5s
iPhone SE 006
iPhone 7/7 Plus
iPhone 8/8 Plus
iPhone X
Please be aware that this unlock is not permanent and can be easily reversed if you update your iPhone to the latest iOS firmware or perform a hard reset. You can re-unlock your device using the same steps, so keep that in mind before proceeding. Finally, the provided ICCID code is subject to change, so we will keep it updated as soon as a new one is available.
If the code we provided doesn’t work for you, check Twitter anytime to find ICCID codes that might work for you.
Step 1: Disable Find My iPhone
Before proceeding with the actual unlock process, we recommend that you disable Find My iPhone first to prevent any obstacles from occurring during the procedure. To do this, open Settings, tap your name, select iCloud, then scroll down and tap Find My iPhone. From there, turn off the Find My iPhone toggle.
You will be prompted for your Apple ID password, so enter your credentials to disable this feature.
Step 2. Add the R-SIM to the SIM tray.
We are now ready to begin the unlocking process, so remove the iPhone’s SIM tray from the device using a SIM tray eject tool or a paperclip. If there is already a SIM card there, be sure to remove it.
Then insert the R-SIM into the SIM tray. Pay close attention to the orientation of the R-SIM card to avoid damaging the chip, and be sure to slide the tab under the tray to lock it in place to prevent it from getting stuck inside the iPhone.

Step 3: Add an unsupported SIM card
After the R-SIM chip is firmly fixed, place the unsupported Nano SIM card directly on it. For example, if you have a Sprint-locked iPhone, add a T-Mobile SIM card there.
Make sure everything is close to the SIM tray. The contacts that connect to the SIM card are extremely thin metal strips that come off easily, so be careful. Once you are satisfied, insert the SIM card tray into your iPhone.

Step 4: Change SIM ICCID
With the R-SIM and the new SIM card connected to your iPhone, open the Phone app, then click the Keyboard tab to open the dialer. If you are taken to the activation screen, either press and hold the side button (iPhone X) or quickly triple-tap the home button (iPhone 8 and below), then select “Emergency Call” to enter the dialer. application. From there, dial one of the numbers below and press the green call button.
*5005*7672*99#
* 5005 * 7672 * 0 #
After the call, you will immediately be taken to the R-SIM information page, so scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Change ICCID” in the menu that appears. You will now be prompted to enter a 20-digit ICCID code, so enter the following numbers:
8901-4104-2778-0604-3133
Click “Submit” after entering the ICCID code, and you will see a pop-up page to confirm successful setup. While the page says you’ll “restart your iPhone now,” don’t do it just yet; Instead, click “Accept” in the lower right corner. After that, turn off your iPhone as usual.
Step 5: Turn on activate
Now turn the device back on and continue the activation/setup process as usual. Once activation is complete, you’ll be able to use your iPhone with a new SIM card to make calls and communicate via messages, and take full advantage of web services such as YouTube, Safari, and more.
At this point, you have the option to remove the R-SIM from your iPhone and use only your SIM card, although we recommend leaving it enabled as it does not adversely affect your device in day-to-day work. Also, leaving the chip in your iPhone helps protect against loss and damage. This is extremely important due to the nature of unlocking your iPhone.
Step 6: Repeat (If Necessary)
As we mentioned earlier, this carrier unlock method uses an exploit to manually change your iPhone’s ICCID to accept a SIM card from another unsupported network. However, this trick can be easily reversed if you update to the latest version of iOS or force restart your device. If you have done the latter, you will need to follow the steps highlighted above to unlock your iPhone again.
Therefore, we recommend staying away from any iOS software updates to keep unlocking, especially through iTunes. Some reports claim that the over-the-air (OTA) update saves the cracked ICCID and therefore your unlock, but we have not been able to confirm this with absolute certainty. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more specific information becomes available, as well as new ICCID codes, so tune in regularly.

Saving on car starters
A new car starter can cost $70 to $425, and installing it can cost you several hundred dollars to $1,000 or more.
The final cost will depend on your car, where you buy the starter and how you install it. If you research and consider your choices, you can likely find an option that will fit your budget.
Average car starter lifespan
A car starter can give you around 80,000 starts before you should expect it to struggle, regardless of the mileage you drive. This is around 150,000 miles for some cars, while some starters can last the vehicle’s life.
Just answer a few questions to get personalized results from our lending partners.
Estimated payoff amount
Like all car parts, starters are affected by factors such as time and climate. As a result, they’re susceptible to wear and tear, and you place a demand on the part every time you start your car. Car starters also tend to last longer in warmer climates, so driving in harsh winters could shorten a car starter’s lifespan.
Average car starter cost
A quick search of a retailer’s inventory shows you can purchase a car starter on your own for anywhere from $70 to $425. Of course, the average cost depends on your car model, but most car starters will be in the middle of that range for non-luxury cars.
🤓Nerdy Tip
Electric vehicles don’t have starter motors like gas- and diesel-powered cars. Instead, electric cars provide electricity to the motor, similar to how a light switch works.
Factors that affect car starter cost
Car make and model
Not all car starters are mounted in the same place. Some car models require more time for a mechanic to access and remove the starter before replacing it. You will likely pay more labor costs if the mechanic needs to work more to access the starter.
The brand and model of car starter you install will depend on your car’s engine design. If you drive a luxury or oversize vehicle, your options are likely to be more expensive than those for cheaper or smaller cars.
Here are a few examples of available price ranges for starters for different makes and models of vehicles.
Car make and model
Low-priced starter
High-priced starter
Ford Focus
$99.99
$219.99
Toyota RAV4
$114.99
$229.99
Chevrolet Tahoe
$84.99
$329.99
Lexus LS460
$144.99
$424.99
Cheaper options are available with refurbished or remanufactured starters. These are often available at major auto parts stores; some come with warranties, though they might be limited in what they cover.
Ring gear replacement
The ring gear is a circular gear that engages the starter to turn over the engine. A broken ring gear means even a new starter isn’t going to get your car running. If you need a ring gear along with a starter, you can plan on adding around $180 to the total cost.
Where you buy the parts
You can purchase the new parts through the mechanic. Or, you can buy them on your own and then take them to the repair shop. If you order the parts through your dealership or mechanic, expect to pay more, especially if they prefer to use original equipment manufacturer parts instead of aftermarket parts.
While you might be able to save money purchasing the parts on your own from a retailer, you run the risk of buying the wrong model, whereas a dealership or mechanic will be able to order the exact part you need. Ordering through a professional will also likely come with a warranty on the parts and labor.

Installation costs
If you decide to have a professional install the starter, you will need to budget for the cost of labor, which is often an hourly rate. Depending on where the starter is located in your engine and how difficult it can be to access, it can take an hour or a few hours to complete the installation. This is going to affect your total cost.
Saving on car starters
A reliable car starter can’t be underrated, and you don’t want to go cheap on replacing a bad one. However, you can do a few things to avoid overpaying.
Ask for a quote upfront. Regardless of where you plan to take your car to have a starter installed, ask for a quote on the parts and labor.
Compare quotes. If you can, talk to more than one shop to compare quotes. While the parts might cost around the same amount, other fees might differ from one shop to another.
Ask if the quote is for OEM parts or aftermarket. Original equipment manufacturer parts are sold by the same manufacturer as your car and guaranteed to fit and work the way they’re supposed to. However, they are often more expensive. If you are comfortable using aftermarket parts, ask for a quote using them instead and see what the price difference would be.
Install it yourself. If you have the right tools and a working knowledge of cars, you can save labor costs by installing the starter on your own. YouTube videos can be a big help. But fair warning: If you mess something up, you might have to pay more to fix it.

What is a Car Remote Start?
A car remote start is a device that allows you to turn your engine on and off without physically interacting with the vehicle. The device powers your car through a control module, the hardware that communicates with your vehicle’s Compustar system.
It also has a bypass module that mediates the communication between your car and the remote starter. The car remote start oversees this interaction, so it flows smoothly and securely.
While you can install the wires required yourself, it’s best to let a professional handle the installation process. Your mechanic will connect these wires to the power, brake, ignition, switch, and tachometer wires.
Benefits of a Car Remote Start
The most obvious benefit of a car remote start is the ease of access to your vehicle. You would be able to power your engine from a distance by simply clicking the key fob. This feature is especially beneficial during the winter and summer seasons.
For instance, imagine your car sitting in the parking lot on a hot summer day. Your interior will be uncomfortably warm if you enter your vehicle straight away. But by remotely starting your car, you’ll allow the AC system to cool your interior before you get it.
During winter, you can power your vehicle remotely to warm the engine and melt the ice on your windshield. Doing so decreases accidents due to poor visibility. Moreover, a warm car also means less viscous motor oil, allowing it to flow freely in your engine for maximum performance.
Choosing Your Mopar Remote Starter
Functional Range
The operating range of a remote start depends on the type of unit you own. The higher the range, the better its coverage. Always remember that trees, buildings, vehicles, and other obstacles will interfere with the remote start’s range. So, you’ll first have to determine where you usually park your car then evaluate the distance needed.
Compatibility
Once you’ve identified the type of unit you want, you will have to determine if it’s compatible with your car. You can research the remote starter you want online, or ask a trusted auto shop or mechanic for the best option.
Smartphone Integration
Some remote starts can integrate with your smartphone through downloadable applications. These types of remote starters usually have additional features that offer other conveniences.
Know your Needs
Aside from the unit’s range, you’ll also want to consider other requirements. For instance, you may be looking to share your car with family members. Thus, you may need an extra key fob installed in your system. Some remote starter units can also power your heated seats, open your trunk, and offer other valuable features.
Signs of a Bad Remote Start
When you’ve pressed your key fob and your car isn’t responding, that’s a clear sign that your remote starter may have some issues. You can first try getting closer to your vehicle to determine if distance or other obstacles are causing the unresponsiveness. Your key fob may also only need to be recharged or a new set of batteries.
There may also be incidents where your key fob starts the car independently due to issues with the relay system. If this occurs, immediately take your vehicle to your trusted auto shop. A self-starting car might engage the gears, causing your vehicle to move on its own, which could lead to an accident.
Frequently Asked Questions About Mopar Remote Starters
What is the distance coverage of a car remote start?
A remote starter’s distance coverage depends on the unit. Factory-made remote starters usually have a range of 30 feet. Meanwhile, an aftermarket remote start system can manage a distance of 3,000 feet, a mile, or even three miles.
How much does a remote start cost?
The remote starter itself can cost between $250 to $400. It depends on the unit’s features, functionality, and the distance it covers. The system’s installation can range from $150 to $500, depending on your vehicle’s year, make, and model.
Does a remote start work with manual transmission vehicles?
Yes, it can, but the installation will cost you much more than if you drive an automatic car. Moreover, there are safety issues involved. For instance, if the vehicle isn’t in neutral gear with no emergency brake engaged, the remote starter could power it independently, which would prove to be a public hazard.

Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA)
When it detects a potential collision with a vehicle or pedestrian in front, the system warns you visually and audibly and, if necessary, applies the brakes to help avoid a collision.
Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop&Go function
Smart Cruise Control with traffic jam function uses radar to determine the speed and distance to the vehicle in front. The system automatically maintains a safe distance from the car in front and accelerates the car to the speed set by the driver. In a traffic jam, the system, if necessary, completely stops the car, and then automatically accelerates it to a predetermined speed.
Reversing Side Collision Prevention (RCCA)
The system activates when reversing and warns you visually and audibly if there is an obstacle behind you. If there is a risk of a collision, the system applies the brakes until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
Surround View System (SVM)
While parking, the system combines data from four wide-angle cameras located in the front, rear and sides of the car and gives you a bird’s eye view of what is happening around your car. High-resolution images can be enlarged and reduced using the multimedia system’s 12.3″ widescreen display.
Blind Spot Assist (BCA)
Using a camera and radars located at the front and rear of the vehicle, the system detects lanes and objects moving behind you. In the event of a risk of collision when changing lanes, the system will help avoid an accident by applying the braking system and steering.
LED Headlights with High Beam Assist (HBA)
If the head-up camera detects an oncoming or passing vehicle or street lighting, the HBA will automatically switch the high beam to low beam to avoid dazzling other drivers. As soon as the car passes, or the illuminated section of the road ends, the system will automatically switch the light to the far one.
Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
DAW (Driver Attention Warning) constantly analyzes your driving style and provides visual and audio alerts when you notice signs of fatigue and loss of concentration, recommending a stop for rest.

By our thirties, if not sooner, the vast majority of us have some form of hearing loss compared with the pristine abilities of a young person’s ears. Kids can hear frequencies older people can’t, mainly because they haven’t been exposed to the loud elements of the world for as much time as we have. Aside from quick, intense bursts of loud sound, the main reason for hearing loss is prolonged, continuous exposure to audio at high levels. It should come as no surprise then that headphones and earphones are the culprits behind much of the gradual hearing loss in adults. In the smartphone and tablet era, kids start listening to headphones from an early age, so the need to keep overall volume levels to a reasonable maximum is real.
Also, kids break, lose, or simply tire of things. All of these issues factor into the decisions manufacturers make when they design headphones for kids. Excellent sound quality with volume limitation might be all your child needs, but perhaps a waterproof build or a budget-friendly price are more important to you. We listed the best models we’ve tested to date here and also cover what you need to know before making a purchase.

Buying Guide: The Best Kids’ Headphones for 2023
Why Are Wireless Headphones Better for Kids?
First off, avoid headphones that don’t offer volume limiting no matter what colorful patterns or popular characters are on the headband. Not all kids’ headphones keep the volume to a reasonable level but it’s a requirement to make our list.

Although most kids’ headphones aim for volume levels below 85dB, not every model limits volume in the same way. Perhaps the most straightforward is to go with a wireless pair that connects via Bluetooth because those shouldn’t exceed the limits in place. Just note that some primarily wireless models ship with audio cables for wired listening that can unlock higher volume levels. That’s the case with the LilGadgets Untangled Pro.
LilGadgets cofounder Jason Hembrey acknowledges this, stating that there’s simply more control with Bluetooth, whereas wired headphones rely on the internal amplifier of the connected computer, phone, or tablet. According to Hembrey, “A device with a weaker internal amplifier will sound quieter than one with a stronger internal amplifier.” We tested some wired options that manage to stay below 85dB—but some have recessed defeat switches that allow the volume to get just as loud as normal adult headphones. Simply put, with wired models, the volume limits advertised are more likely to be a goal rather than a completely accurate specification.
Most of the child-friendly models available are on-ear or over-ear headphones; in-ear models aren’t popular in this realm. Thus, the main variant in models we’ve tested is whether they use a cable or are wireless—or both.
Of course, you can always institute a volume limit directly on your child’s mobile device within the settings menu. In most cases, you can even pass-protect these settings so your child can’t change them back. We highly recommend this step for the wired options that are more likely to exceed the 85 dB threshold.
4 ways you’re using your headphones totally wrong — Clarification Please
Why Should Volume Max Out at 85dB for Kids’ Headphones?
Another facet of the volume debate is just what level is necessary to set as a limit. The norm across the kids’ headphone realm seems to be 85dB.
LilGadgets says that this level is based upon safe listening for eight continuous hours and that headphones can be somewhat louder if your child is listening for shorter continuous periods—thus, the Untangled Pro headphones intentionally reach a volume level of 93dB, which allows them to better compete with airplane rumble or car noises on road trips. As long as the listening session doesn’t exceed two hours before there’s at least a 10-minute break, LilGadgets contests that volume levels up to 93dB are safe, and are more likely to create a better listening experience for your child.
So if you’re going to monitor your child’s headphone usage, perhaps the LilGadgets methodology makes sense for you. But if you’re worried that it will be difficult to do, a hard stop at 85dB could be the better solution.
Interestingly, the second-generation AirPods Pro offer an adaptive transparency mode that reduces any outside noise past the 85dB threshold. So, it’s not just kids that can benefit from keeping things to a lower volume.
These days, if a pair of headphones for adults has a cable without an inline remote or microphone, it had better be a professional model for the recording studio or a home theater setup. Most people connect their headphones to their smartphone and often use them to take calls on the go, after all.
With kids’ headphones, however, it’s less clear whether the lack of a mic is a disadvantage. Not every parent necessarily wants a mic built into headphones for their child. For instance, you might not want to encourage your child to use their headphones like a gaming headset. We cover this aspect in each of our reviews.
How Much Should You Spend on Kids’ Headphones?
Finally, price is likely to play a major factor in your buying decision. Most parents I know are hesitant to drop $100 on headphones for themselves, much less their kids, often in fear that those headphones are likely to break easily in the hands of a child. The good news is there are plenty of options for under $50. If a pair seems too expensive for what it offers, we call that out in the review.

Best Headphones For Kids 2023
Many of us scrambled to find the best headphones for kids when the first wave of remote learning arrived. They became a must-have school supply, and the headphones needed to be extra comfortable (no pinching) for long days in the virtual classroom. The right headphones need to fit your kid comfortably, so they’ll acquiesce to wearing them, but a children’s pair must also deliver quality sound at a safe decibel level. A number of organizations, including the World Health Organization point out the impact that exposure to loud sounds can have on hearing and hearing loss. So as we’re searching for the best headphones for kids, it’s especially important to look for those with volume limits. And as we move on from the pandemic, many parents are also searching for kids headphones for movie streaming, airplane rides and more.

While there’s some debate about what the max volume should be limited to in order to protect hearing, the typical current industry standard is 85 decibels max in terms of safe output in headphones for kid. Some research puts that number lower, especially if listened to for longer periods of time at higher volumes. Healthy Hearing advises: “If you don’t want your child to run the risk of hearing loss, 70 dBA would be more reasonable… that’s typically about 50 percent volume on your device.”
Either way, it’s an important rule of thumb for parents to monitor their child’s headphone volume levels. “Most headphones specifically marketed for kids have volume limiters built in to prevent excessive sound levels,” says Michael Rothschild, clinical professor of otolaryngology and pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai. “Be careful to check this function by listening yourself. Not all limiters are created equal, and some cheaper models don’t deliver the safety that they claim.”
With those guidelines in mind, here are the best headphones for kids that suit a variety of purposes. After you’ve perused this guide, you might want to scoop up a pair of the best noise-cancelling headphones for yourself, see the top wireless earbuds or consider one of these best smartwatches for kids.

JLab JBuddies Pro Wireless Over-Ear Kids Headphones
Battery life: 35 hours | Wireless: Yes | Noise cancelling: No | Case: For purchase | Earcup style: Over ear | Volume limiter: Yes (85/95 decibels)
These JBuddies Pro Wireless Over-Ear kids headphones are supremely comfortable, durable and come with all the necessary features at an easier-to-stomach price tag. Our parenting editor’s older kids (7 and 9) have relied on a pair of these headphones for over a year, using them for everything from school to plane rides to listening to music and movies on their iPads. Her kids much preferred the over-ear, comfortable and adjustable fit of these earcups to their previous set of Puro Sound Labs BT2200s. “They love these,” says Rose Gordon Sala, baby and kids gear editor at Forbes Vetted. “I never have to fight with them to put them on, and they never complain about their ears hurting as they’ve done with other pairs.”
These JBuddies are designed for older kids, starting around age 8 and up, so they might be too big on younger kids. They include a shareport, easy controls, a cable and aux port for plugging in, built-in mic and yes, the all-important 85 decibel volume limiter. There is a switch on one of the earcups that allows a parent or wearer to increase the volume output to 95 decibels, which isn’t ideal for those concerned about hearing loss, but the switch is a bit hard to reach. They’re adjustable and fold in half, too. Colors are limited to just two options. Sala confirms that her kids have squished these into overloaded backpacks and yet, they’ve held up without issue.
Puro Sound Labs BT2200 volume limited bluetooth headphones for kids earned the top spot on many similar lists and an Amazon rating of 4.5 out of 5 with a total of about 1,400 reviews. Standout features include 20 hours of battery time, volume limiting to 85 dB, one-touch Bluetooth pairing and daisy chain sharing (the built-in audio splitter enables two headphones to connect to the same device). A built-in microphone and optional cable is included, too. Not every kid finds on-ear headphones comfortable as we pointed out, but Rothschild prefers this style for children. These Puros feel a bit snug to some and might be better for younger or smaller children. You might consider purchasing Puro’s over-the-ear cup add-ons if your children complain.
These headphones do feel high-quality, but Sala says her family ran into some quality issues with the three pairs of Puro BT2200s they owned over the years, including connectivity and sound. It’s worth noting that Puro Sound Labs is a small, family-owned business that was started with the one of the family’s daughters, Niki Russell, who has noise-induced hearing loss.

JLab JBuddies Studio Wireless Kids Headphones
Battery life: 24 hours | Wireless: Yes | Noise cancelling: No | Case: No | Earcup style: On ear | Volume limiter: Yes (85 decibels)
JBuddies Studio Bluetooth headphones boast many great features for a fraction of the cost of most competitors on the market. The 24-hour battery life gives kids plenty of time to enjoy studying or listening to music or videos, and the ear cushions and padded headband are generally deemed extra comfortable for young wearers, according to reviewers. The built-in microphone, controls and volume regulators are easy for kids to use, and keep little ones from amping up the volume past 85 decibels. In fact, some reviewers felt the headphones were too quiet. These JLab headphones for kids are designed for those ages 6 and up, so a little smaller than our top pick. They also feature the on ear style vs. over ear, which some might prefer.
Belkin
Belkin SoundForm Mini Kids Wireless Headphones
Battery life: 30 hours | Wireless: Yes | Noise cancelling: No | Case: Yes | Ear cup style: On ear | Volume limiter: Yes (85 decibels)
Belkin’s SoundForm Mini headphones are our top pick for online learning and in-classroom use due to this pair’s exceptionally long battery life and built-in microphone for communicating with teachers and peers. We also like the fact that these headphones have a safety volume cap of 85 decibels, are equipped with an aux port and include a cable, so kids have the option to connect the headphones directly to their device as needed. The adjustable headband and ear cushion caps designed to fit smaller ears make these headphones comfortable for kids to wear for longer periods of time during the school day. Reviewers praise these kids headphones as durable and comfortable. They’re also tested to withstand minor spills.
LilGadgets Untangled Pro Wireless Kids Headphones are designed for kids age 4 and older with comfort in mind. The ear pads and adjustable headband feature a breathable mesh material, and the ear pieces flex to accommodate different preferences for how the headphones fit. I love that these include a “SharePort,” so two kids can listen to one device at once from their own headphones without having to worry about specialized cables. The Untangled Pros come with a 4-foot nylon braided audio cable with inline microphone for wired use as needed. I do want to point out that the volume of these headphones is limited to 93 decibels, which is slightly louder than other headphones on this list, so you may want to monitor the volume to maintain safe listening. Also, Sala says her kids broke two pairs of LilGadgets wired kids headphones in short order, so durability may be an issue for some with these.
In addition to a host of great features that make BuddyPhones Cosmos+ headphones a great choice for kids of all ages, this pair ranks as the most ideal choice for toddlers due to a Toddler Mode setting that limits volume output to 75 decibels, the lowest of any of the others on this list. Parents can also adjust that switch to 85 decibels in a so-called Kids Mode for older children, as well as up to 94 decibels. The soft ear cushions are comfortable for young kids and active noise cancelling minimizes further external volume and noise. The adjustable boom microphone and StudyMode switch come in handy for older kids. StudyMode “isolates voices and enhances the clarity, making them ideal for online classes.” These kid headphones come in an array of colorful hues that feature cute cartoon characters like a unicorn.

Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones
Battery life: 40 hours | Wireless: Yes | Noise cancelling: No | Case: Yes | Earcup style: On ear | Volume limiter: No
Teens will revel in the sleek design and elevated specs of Beats Solo3 wireless Bluetooth headphones. With a battery life up to 40 hours, they’ll enjoy extended use between charging sessions. When the battery does get low, a Fast Fuel charging feature enables three hours of playback time after only five minutes of charging. In addition to delivering excellent sound, these headphones are equipped to take calls and activate Siri via on-ear controls. The controls are a bit more advanced when compared to more kid-oriented headphones, too. There’s playback (two presses to skip forward, three to skip backward), as well as pause. The cushioned earcups are adjustable, and the headphones are foldable. Available in black, rose gold and red hues, Beats Solo3 headphones give off teen vibes.
Note to parents: Beats Solo3 headphones do not have a built-in volume limiter. They soar over 100 decibels. If you don’t think your teen is mature enough to follow safe hearing guidelines, you may want to consider another pair.
A number of the kids headphones on our list include passive noise cancellation or noise isolation by physically blocking some of the external noise simply by covering the ear. However, active noise-cancelling (ANC) is a more sophisticated technology that relies on microphones and speakers to detect and neutralize external sound by creating and playing back another sound wave that results in a quieter, easier sound for the wearer. These PuroQuiets headphones for kids include that active noise-cancelling feature, so parents can simply flick a switch and bring the background noise sound down about 22 decibels. They also boast 78% noise isolation. This makes these headphones an ideal pair for travel. The volume limiter ensures output is limited to a maximum of 85 decibels. In addition to these safety features, PuroQuiets boast one-touch Bluetooth pairing with most devices, a built-in microphone, a 30-foot range, a long battery life and daisy chain sharing via a built in audio splitter.

Vanderfields Kids Ear Protection Earmuffs
Battery life: N/A | Wireless: N/A | Noise cancelling: No | Case: No | Earcup style: Over ear | Volume limiter: N/A
There are many instances when wearing ear protection are a must for children, from concerts to travel. Vanderfields Kids Ear Protection earmuffs, designed for kids ages 3 and older, offer passive noise cancelling and sound reduction, meaning they physically reduce external sounds by covering the child’s ears. The headphones have a signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio of 26 decibels and a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 20 decibels. They’re durable, adjustable and foldable. Reviewers generally praise the fit and comfort due to memory foam padding on the headband and ear padding. Keep in mind that these are earmuffs, not headphones, so you can’t play music or otherwise listen to anything from them. In some extra noisy situations, you may want to layer in additional protection, the manufacturer warns. Take a look at Healthy Hearing for a helpful breakdown of some decibel levels of common sounds from sirens to fireworks shows.
How We Chose The Best Headphones For Kids
As a parenting writer who has written about kids’ gear for 20 years, I performed vast amounts of research, read various studies and the guidelines set forth regarding safe listening via the usage of headphones by organizations including WHO and ASHA. I also investigated the risks of hearing damage that headphones impose, and I spoke with Dr. Michael Rothschild about the best headphones for kids. I curated this list based on a great deal of criteria including: safe decibel limits, safety features, comfort (ear padding and headband adjustability to best fit kids), and which headphones were the most highly rated and popular among parents and children. We have also used a number of these headphones in my home and in my editor’s home, and if we didn’t have firsthand testing experience with a pair, we asked other parents for their opinions or read deep into the reviews, searching out repeat complaints or praise. This article is regularly reviewed. It was most recently updated in February 2023.
What Type Of Headphones Are Best For Kids?
The best type of headphones for kids are a pair they’ll feel comfortable wearing. The headphones you select should also be convenient enough for a child to use independently and to operate safely so they don’t damage their hearing. A volume limiter of 85 decibels or less is ideal.
In terms of the earcup style, Rothschild prefers on the ear headphones for young children that sit on the outside of the ear but don’t cover it completely. The in-ear models can pose a hazard, especially to youngest children both in terms of a choking hazard and getting lost in the ear canal. Over-ear models can make it harder for kids to hear outside noise, he notes, which may include a car if wearing outside or even a parent calling for dinner. Some children will find these models more comfortable, however, as Sala’s children did.
What Are The Best Headphones For Kids At School?
The best kids headphones for use at school should have several important attributes: comfort for longer sessions of wear, a long battery life and a built-in microphone. See our pick above for the kids headphones we recommend for school. You’ll also want to ensure they easily pair with any school-issued device, such as a Chromebook, or that they include a wire to physically connect in a pinch.
Are Wireless Headphones Safe For Kids?
Over the years, there have been concerns about the possible connection between cancer and other health issues due to exposure to the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) emitted from wireless devices. Rothschild weighs in, “It really doesn’t seem that there is a significant cancer risk from the non-ionizing radiation associated with Bluetooth technology. Of course, that’s the sort of thing that it might take decades to pick up on if there was some sort of small effect, but Bluetooth is significantly less energy than the radiation emitted by a standard cell phone. So, I don’t see a problem with that right now.”
Another option is simply to limit your child’s time with things like headphones and cell phones to limit their overall exposure.
Are Noise-Cancelling Headphones Good For Kids?
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association thinks so. It suggests that parents: “Consider investing in noise-cancelling headphones. This helps prevent the urge—and need—for kids to crank the volume. ”
Rothschild says noise-cancelling headphones are OK as long as they’re used in an appropriate setting. “They block out sound, which could be a safety risk if they were being used out in public and the user didn’t hear a car, siren or someone calling to them,” he says. “It’s probably fine for use in a noisy environment where you wouldn’t be walking around anyway, like a train or a plane.”
Do Kids Need Special Headphones?
Yes, kids should only use volume-limiting headphones to ensure they don’t damage their hearing by turning up the volume too high. Volume-limiting headphones still don’t guarantee 100 percent safety, so parents should monitor young children when they’re using headphones and explain sound limits to older kids and teens.
Can Headphones Damage Kids’ Hearing?
Yes, headphones can damage kids’ hearing if they’re not used properly at safe volume levels and for safe durations of time. “Prolonged exposure to loud sound can be dangerous, especially for young children,” says Rothschild. “Noise trauma can cause temporary or even permanent hearing loss. The general rule of thumb is that if you can hear someone else’s music when they are wearing headphones, the sound is too loud and should be turned down. But with high quality over-the-ear headphones, even extremely loud volumes may be undetectable by anyone else.” This is why volume-limiting headphones are a must for children.

In this TOP I have collected the best children’s headphones : JBL models and from well-known manufacturers in narrow circles, wireless and wired headphones with a microphone. The rating of children’s headphones includes mainly on-ear bluetooth and wired headphones: from models with a classic design adapted for children to unusual options, such as wireless glowing children’s headphones with Cat Ear ears and headphones with Spider-Man.
How do good headphones for children differ from models for adults? Ideally, they should be volume-limited, as children’s eardrums are more fragile than adults’ and high sound pressure can damage them. The best wireless and wired headphones for children in the ranking have this degree of protection. In addition, children’s headphones should be smaller than those for adults if they are models with a headband. Well, design is very important. Kids will love the cat ear headphones, cartoon characters and glowing headphones.
What are the best headphones for children? If your child loves music, or you want to buy him headphones for books or cartoons on the road, you need to go over a couple of nuances. Can a child listen to music with headphones? How much do children’s Bluetooth headphones and wired models cost? Should I buy cheap children’s headphones with ears, luminous, with a player and a flash drive? You will find answers to these and other questions at the end of the rating ⬇.

JBL JR310BT – the best kids headphones on Aliexpress
⁉ What are the best headphones for children?
Which headphones are best for kids? Best with 85dB SPL limitation – WHO recommendations. In the rating, most of the models are like that. Options without this limitation are fine if you are sure that the child will not turn up the volume above a comfortable level. Also, models without restrictions are suitable for teenagers, their eardrum is no longer so fragile.
Children’s on-ear headphones is the most versatile option. They press down on the ears, but usually not much. But they are lighter than full-size, and more compact than them. Earplugs are more an option for teenagers, children’s hearing should not be attacked by an emitter that is so close to the eardrum.
Children’s wireless headphones with mic is an option for all occasions. And listen to music, and watch a cartoon, and the wire will not be damaged, and you can answer the call if necessary.
🚸 Can a child listen to music with headphones?
Baby earmuffs are a useful accessory for traveling and just at home. But the question arises whether it is harmful for a child to listen to music with headphones. With the right precautions, it’s not harmful. For children from a year old, for example, headphones are not worth buying. But older – already possible.
Headphones for 5-6 year olds must be volume limited. At this age, it is easy to damage the eardrum with excessive sound pressure. By the way, this is why sometimes children are advised to use bone headphones, as in cases with hearing damage, we recently published a rating of such models.
Headphones for a child 8 years old and older, it is also advisable to buy with a sound pressure limitation. But teenagers can gradually be given ordinary headphones without limiters. But it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye on whether the child is listening to music too loudly. It is much easier to spoil hearing in childhood than in adulthood.
Is it harmful for children to listen to headphones?
Children’s headphones usually belong to the budget and mid-budget segment – from $10 to $60-70. They are rarely expensive, as they do not use high-quality radiators – the sound in them is not in the first place. There are more expensive models, but these are no longer 100% children’s headphones, but quite adult ones, but with a design that children will like – with ears, backlight and bright colors.
🐱 Should I buy children’s headphones with ears and other cheap models?
For 10-20$ you can buy children’s headphones with ears or other interesting design features like coloring cards. But the build quality of such models is usually questionable. In the ranking, we have collected options that will not fall apart in the first couple of months, but even they are unlikely to last more than a year. You can buy budget headphones for a child, but you should not expect something special from them. 😉
🧒 What are the best headphones to buy for a teenager?
It’s best to ask teenager which headphones he wants. If he is ready to take a responsible approach to protecting his hearing, then you can already take a closer look at models for adults: they are not so bright, but they have a better sound. But you should refrain from plugs, although there is one vacuum model in the rating – for a change.
🔌 How to connect children’s headphones?
Instruction for connecting children’s earphones and similar models is the same as for adult models. We insert wired, we pair wireless. We have general instructions on our website: for wired and for wireless.
🦁 Fur baby earmuffs (warm) – is it worth buying them?
There are still fur earmuffs on the market, which are not included in the rating.
Some home chefs say induction cooktops and ranges are the way of the future, offering a safer and more energy-efficient way of cooking.
An induction cooktop is a special type of electric cooktop that gets its power and precision from induction technology. This means it generates energy from an electromagnetic field below the glass cooktop surface, which then transfers current directly to magnetic cookware, causing it to heat up.
Induction cooktops and ranges generally outperform every other kind of range in Consumer Reports’ tests. In fact, every induction cooktop and induction range tested through our range lab delivers fast cooktop heat and superb simmering. What’s more, if you buy a new induction cooktop or range, you may be eligible for financial incentives created by the Inflation Reduction Act.
Induction cooktops and ranges look and function a lot like typical glass-top electric models, except that they cook via a magnetic field. On most 30-inch induction cooktops, the field is concentrated into four spots (or elements).
As for the ovens in induction ranges, they broil and bake just as other electric ovens do, but their capabilities differ from model to model. High-end options, for instance, might have features like convection, WiFi connectivity, and even in-oven cameras so you can monitor whatever you’re baking with a smartphone. Entry-level options will have many of the same features you’d find on regular electrics, like storage or warming drawers, adjustable racks, and a self-cleaning mode.
To learn more about induction, see our cooktop and range buying guides. Our ratings for induction cooktops and ranges highlight each appliance’s performance and specifications.
There are plenty of things to love about induction ranges, whether you’re obsessed with perfectly prepped food or interested in energy efficiency. Here’s how they compare with gas and conventional electric ranges.
They’re more environmentally friendly. An induction stove is 5 to 10 percent more energy-efficient than conventional electric stoves and about three times more efficient than gas stoves. And unlike gas, it’s better for indoor air quality.
They have a built-in safety feature. If you turn on an induction burner with no pot on it by mistake, it won’t get hot. That’s because the heat is created from within the cookware itself; as soon as you remove it from a burner, that heating stops. So the glass surface never gets as hot as it would on a traditional radiant electric range, and you’re not at risk of burning yourself if you touch it. That surface might merely feel hot in the way a kitchen counter feels hot if you put a pot of just-cooked soup on it.
Food cooks faster. No other technology we’ve tested is speedier than induction. It cuts out the intermediate step of heating up an element and then transferring the heat to the pot. Compared with electric or gas, it cooks more quickly when you turn up the heat and responds faster when you dial it back down. You’ll find that 6 quarts of water will approach a boil 2 to 4 minutes sooner than on a gas or electric stove, which can definitely be helpful when you’re making dinner on a busy weeknight.
Meal prep is easier. With heat generating from within your pot or pan, induction ranges cook more precisely and evenly. No more simmering sauces that break into a splattering boil or chicken thighs that emerge from the pan scorched.
They’re easier to clean. Like other smoothtop electrics, induction surfaces are easy to wipe down.
Before you shop for an induction cooktop or range, consider your budget and your cooking habits. Here’s what you need to know.
Induction cooking feels very different from cooking with gas. Some avid cooks really love cooking on a flame and the immediate visual feedback they get from it at the turn of a knob. No electric option, even induction, can replicate that feel. In fact, because the electromagnetic field on an induction cooktop doesn’t create a glow, you won’t even know it’s on. That’s why manufacturers have started adding virtual flames and other lighting cues.
It can get expensive when you convert from gas to electric. If you’re replacing an electric range, the swap is simple. Induction cooktops and ranges use the same outlet as a standard electric range or cooktop. But if you’re switching from gas, expect to pay an electrician several hundred dollars or more to install the necessary outlet.
You need the right cookware. While most of the cookware in our ratings is induction-compatible, some pans—including those made of aluminum and anodized aluminum—won’t work on induction. Most others, including stainless steel and cast iron, will. If you’re shopping for cookware for induction cooktops, look for pots and pans marked “induction-compatible.” To determine whether your existing arsenal of cookware will work with an induction range, see if a magnet strongly sticks to the bottom of your pots. If it does, they’ll work on an induction burner.
It might emit a sound. “A buzz or hum is common, and often louder at higher settings,” says Tara Casaregola, who oversees the testing of ranges and cooktops for Consumer Reports. “And we often hear the clicking of element electronics at lower settings, as well as the sound of the cooling fan for the electronics.” Heavy flat-bottomed pans help reduce the vibrations that cause this buzz.
You may need an analog thermometer. The magnetic field of an induction cooktop can interfere with a digital meat thermometer.
Induction cooktops and ranges are typically more expensive than conventional electric models. But prices have continued to drop in recent years despite inflation, with some induction ranges in our ratings selling for about $1,000. And buying a new induction cooktop or range may make you eligible for rebates from the Inflation Reduction Act.
To learn more about induction, see our cooktop and range buying guides. CR members can also browse our full list of ratings for induction cooktops and ranges. Here, we’ve highlighted the best induction range in our ratings, as well as the best 30-inch and 36-inch induction cooktops.
If you’ve got the space, a cooktop (along with a wall oven that you buy separately) can be a nice way to break up cooking areas in your kitchen. The two cooktops below are exceptional performers from our tests.

Induction Cooktops and Ranges Are So Good You May Not Miss Gas
Gas cooktops and ranges have had a rough couple of years.
They have been the de facto choice for chefs and serious home cooks for decades. But the recent flurry of reports on the potential health risks of gas cooktops and ranges, including one based on Consumer Reports’ own testing, has caused some consumers to hit pause when shopping for a replacement range.
The trend toward electric and induction ranges and cooktops is already gaining steam as more consumers concerned about climate change seek alternatives to gas, and as the stoves become more affordable. The current concerns over health may further curb the popularity of gas ranges.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission recently said it’s researching the health risks associated with gas cooktop and range emissions. It will open a public comment period this spring to request information about potential solutions.
While some cities have taken steps to limit the installation of new gas stoves, a national ban on gas ranges is not happening—at least not anytime soon, according to the CPSC. But CR’s testing and reporting find that there are already plenty of reasons for consumers to make the switch from gas, even in the absence of a change in the law.
“In our testing of ranges, we routinely find electric and induction options that are top scorers,” says Tara Casaregola, who oversees CR’s evaluation of cooktops and ranges. “Induction ranges and cooktops in particular often heat the fastest, simmer steadily, and provide quicker temperature changes when you adjust a burner.”
The numbers don’t lie: 80 percent of the induction ranges currently in our ratings perform well enough for us to recommend them compared with less than half of the gas ranges we’ve evaluated. And all but one induction range gets our top score for high-heat cooking, while not a single gas range earns that rating.
While cost was historically a big barrier to induction, prices have come down considerably, with a handful of high-scoring models in our ratings available for $1,500 or less. To sweeten the deal even more, the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act provides credits of up to $840 to offset the cost of new electric or induction ranges and cooktops, making it a good time to make the switch.
That’s not to say there are no reasons to go with gas. The visual feedback provided by a flame growing and shrinking as you adjust a burner is valuable when gauging heat. But in terms of sheer performance, it doesn’t necessarily translate to quicker cooking or better results.
Induction ranges and cooktops operate when coils beneath the surface of the smooth glass cooktop induce heat within the pans without the need to warm a burner. The result is faster, more efficient heating, without generating any gas-related emissions in your kitchen.
Induction works with any magnetic cookware, including cast iron, enameled Dutch ovens, and most stainless steel. (In our cookware ratings, we note whether each model is induction-compatible.) If you’re curious whether your current cookware will work with induction, grab a magnet: If it sticks to your pan, that pan will work on any induction cooktop or range.
News about the CPSC’s plans came on the heels of research that quantified the extent to which gas cooktops and ranges can produce nitrogen oxides as byproducts of combustion.
Previous research performed by CR in 2022 as well as the Rocky Mountain Institute in 2020 recorded levels of nitrogen oxides that exceeded safe limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency for outdoor exposure, as well as indoor limits set by international health organizations. (CR is now conducting a second round of gas range emission testing and expects to release those findings in the coming months.)
Those results are concerning because nitrogen oxides are a potentially dangerous collection of compounds associated with respiratory illnesses. A December 2022 peer-reviewed study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, for example, linked gas ranges and cooktops to nearly 13 percent of childhood asthma cases in the U. S.
To date, no states have banned the sale of gas cooktops and ranges. But New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles have banned gas cooktops or ranges for use in new construction. (Restaurants, bakeries, and laundromats are exempt under the New York City law, as are residential buildings in which at least half of the units are classified as affordable housing.) Dozens of smaller municipalities, many of them in California, have passed similar bans, though in many cases, the specifics aren’t finalized. On the flip side, 20 states have passed preemptive laws, banning individual towns or cities from passing similar ordinances.
While growing concerns about the health risks posed by gas cooktops and ranges has prompted the CPSC to research the issue, the agency emphasizes that no national gas cooktop or range ban is imminent.
“To be clear, I am not looking to ban gas stoves, and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so,” said Alexander Hoehn-Saric, chair of the CPSC, in a statement. The agency has said that plans to start researching the health risks of gas stoves and gathering public comments later this spring are part of a “lengthy process.”
William Wallace, CR’s associate director of safety policy, says it’s appropriate for the agency to be thoughtful in its work as it looks into gas stoves.
“People expect household products to be safe, and not to put their family’s health at risk,” he says. “It’s the CPSC’s job to make sure companies meet these expectations—by researching potential hazards, collecting information from the public, identifying solutions, and crafting evidence-based rules for the marketplace. All this takes time.”
Still, Wallace says the agency should respond quickly when new hazards emerge. “Lead paint used to be legal, but now it’s not because the evidence mounted of its harms—especially to children. We’re learning more about health and safety risks all the time, and it’s vital for the CPSC to take action when warranted,” he adds.
To learn more about gas alternatives, start with our cooktop and range buying guides. If you’ve already decided to opt for an induction range, the three models below are worth considering. Each offers stellar performance all-around, including rapid heating and steady simmering.

support interval switching on and off at low power, keeping the dishes warm.
If, however, this problem is of great importance when choosing between a conventional and induction hob, you can
additionally purchase a multicooker without giving up induction.
Another feature of such surfaces is that they will not turn on if there is anything other than
suitable cookware, including its diameter. Fork, recipe book or plate does not interact with

There is a minus in this: the dishes must correspond to the minimum allowable diameter, have an even

and have ferromagnetic properties. Therefore, an old cast-iron pan with a flat bottom or

Advantages:
energy savings by heating only the dishes, not the entire surface;
safety of use due to heating only dishes – no risk of burns;
possibility of use as an additional working surface;
instantaneous change in heating power;
no risk of accidental activation.
Cons:
keeping warm in cheap models does not work correctly;
rapid cooling of the surface is inconvenient when languishing;
the cost is higher compared to electric models.
Features of the electric stove
Despite the change in appearance, the principle of operation of the electric stove
original. Until now, there are ordinary plates with an enameled surface on sale, on
which are cast-iron pancakes, heated by the spiral in them.
4 types of heating elements are used in electric surfaces and stoves:
cast iron pancakes;
spiral heaters;
tape or Hi-Light;
halogen heaters.
Plates with cast iron pancakes are usually chosen by the older generation or those who care about
the cost of the plate: often such models are purchased for summer cottages, temporary housing, for rented housing. Pancakes
take a long time to heat up and slowly cool down, making them the least efficient of electrical
models.
More modern options can be confused with an induction cooker: heating elements
located under the glass-ceramic or tempered glass surface. The difference is that they
transfer heat to the surface itself, and that, in turn, to the dishes.
Of these models, spiral heaters are the least efficient, but much
outnumber
cast iron pancakes. They heat up in about 12 seconds. Tape is enough for 5-7 seconds, and most
powerful halogen ones heat up almost immediately. Due to their rather high cost in
electric stoves most often install 1-2 such burners, and the rest can be

and even spiral.
Electric models also have their pros and cons.
Pros:
cookware stays hot longer when the stove is off, keeping food warm;
the possibility of cooking with the help of languishing;
no noise;
lower cost than induction cookers;
large selection of design options.
Cons:
high risk of burns on a hot surface;
the inability to quickly change the heating temperature.
What is the difference between an induction hob and an electric hob?
The main difference between the two identical-looking hobs is the heating method.
Electrical
the stove heats the surface above the burner, and the induction stove heats the cookware itself without heating the surface.
Comparison of characteristics
When choosing an induction or electric hob, you should pay attention to
characteristics
both devices. This will help to objectively assess the possibilities, advantages and disadvantages of this
device, and choose the one that suits you best. Difference in heating method
directly affects many characteristics of both electrical appliances.
Energy consumption
Glass-ceramic surface is more energy efficient than conventional
“pancake” stove, but noticeably loses to induction: the latter consumes about 1.5 times
less electricity, spending it only on the creation of an electromagnetic field and cooling
coils.
Noise level
Fans are used to cool the induction coils, which can create quite
noticeable noise. Cookware with an uneven bottom can also be an additional source of crackling.

Features and options
Both the induction and electric hob have useful features that make life easier
users and make cooking enjoyable and safe.

Those who doubt whether to buy a built-in hob – electric or induction,
can choose a combined version with one or two induction hobs and conventional

surfaces.
Which stove to choose: induction or electric?
If we talk specifically about stoves, you can easily buy electric stoves with heaters of any type, but
induction freestanding cookers are much less common on the market and are represented by only

An induction hob is a kind of electric hob that uses the principle of electromagnetism. The main difference here is in the method of heat transfer. If in classic stoves it comes from a tubular heating element (TEN) or a flame, then in induction cookware serves as a source.
Induction hobs, like electric and gas models, are built-in, freestanding and desktop. Like all other types, they are divided into dependent and independent. In the first case, the stove with the oven have common controls and should be located strictly side by side. Independent hobs can be placed separately from the oven or used without it.
The working surface of induction models is usually made of glass ceramic. They can be not only of different colors or with a pattern, but also of different shapes – there are, for example, semicircular and rhombuses.
Photo: shutterstock
Depending on the size (from 30 cm to 100 cm), the induction hob has one to six burners. On some models, their location and layout look unusual. Instead of the classic “pancakes”, intersecting lines, squares are applied, or the center of the heating element is simply indicated. There are also models with functional burners, for example for ducklings, or with a deepening for a wok pan.
Heating and other settings are most often controlled via sensor modules. In some models, for convenience, the burners are equipped with indicator lights that turn on at the time of operation.
In addition, there are combined stove options that combine induction technology with heating elements or gas burners.
Induction hobs can be equipped with additional functions. Among them:
built-in hood;
pan detection sensor;
Booster mode, or temporary increase in heating;
protection against children and overheating, liquid transfusion;
residual heat indication;
automatic shutdown by timer;
the possibility of combining cooking zones.
Kitchen ergonomics: 6 tips for organizing space
How an induction hob works
The main working elements of such a hob are induction coils with copper winding. They are located under the glass panel according to the marking of the burners. At the moment when a current passes through the turns of the coil, a high-frequency magnetic field is formed (from 20 kHz to 100 kHz).
Photo: shutterstock
Under its influence, eddy currents arise in metal dishes placed on the burner, which set the electrons in motion. In this process, heat is generated – it heats the bottom of the pot or pan. The surface of the hob does not get hot. Some warmth may be felt from it – the dishes gave it away.
How to connect an induction hob
The induction hob is powered by 220V. Depending on the number of burners, the power consumption is between 2 and 7.5 kW. When connecting an induction hob, the same requirements are met as for any other electric hobs. For such equipment, a power outlet is output, a VVG-type cable with a cross section of at least 6 mm is used [1], an automatic machine for 32A is installed in the shield.
Pros and cons of induction hob
Pros
Heating speed. With induction, heat is transferred directly to the cookware. Therefore, the food heats up, and the water boils much faster. Comparative tests of different hobs have shown that induction hobs, on average, bring 6 liters of water to a boil 2–4 minutes faster than competitors of other types [2].
Security. Since the hob surface does not heat up, the risk of injury or accidental fire is minimized. This is especially true if there are children or animals in the house.
Temperature control. Thanks to induction, you can regulate the cooking temperature more accurately. When turned off, heat transfer stops immediately, so the likelihood of boiling over or burning is minimal.
Easy cleaning. Like traditional electric hobs, induction hobs have a smooth glass surface. Because they don’t heat up, splashes or bits of food don’t burn.
Energy efficiency. These models do not heat the air around the cookware, so no useful heat is lost. The efficiency of induction cookers is the highest – they are capable of transmitting up to 90% electromagnetic energy [3]. For gas and electric stoves, this range is from 30% to 70%, depending on the model.
Cons
Noise. When operating induction cooktops, a slight buzzing or buzzing may occur. This is usually related to the type of cookware that is being used. Lighter stainless steel pans can make more noise than heavier ones.
Size dependent. The hob will not turn on if you place a pan with a smaller diameter on the burner. Typically, manufacturers recommend covering at least 60-70% of its area.
Work with pacemakers. There is no direct ban on the use of induction cookers for people with pacemakers, but there are a number of studies on the effect of a magnetic field on the operation of such devices [4]. To reduce possible risks, manufacturers recommend maintaining a distance of at least 60 cm [5].
Special dishes. Buying an induction cooker will require replacing kitchen utensils.
Induction cookware
Photo: shutterstock
For cooking on an induction cooker, only cookware made of ferromagnetic metal, that is, with high magnetic permeability, is used. For example, cast iron and steel. The easiest way to check if the existing kitchen utensils are suitable or not is to bring a magnet to the bottom. If it sticks, then you can use such dishes.
Copper, ceramic, earthenware or aluminum pans and pans are not suitable for cooking on such stoves unless the bottom of the cookware has a metal insert. Otherwise, the stove simply will not work.
You can get around these difficulties: special adapters are produced for induction cookers. These devices in the form of disks allow you to use not only dishes made of other materials, but also different-sized burners. Adapters are made of the desired ferromagnetic metal and, when heated, transfer heat to ordinary dishes. They can also be used in case of discrepancy between the diameters of the bottom and the burner. For example, for Turks or small ladles.
When using an induction hob, manufacturers advise following a few rules:
The diameter of the bottom of the cookware must match the size of the burner. For most slabs, the minimum dimension is 12 cm.
For even and efficient heating, choose cookware with a flat and thick bottom. Too thin bottom can be deformed during cooking.
The adapter must be the size of the burner, although a slightly smaller adapter can be used.
Before buying, you should study the markings on the dishes. For induction cookers, it contains a special symbol in the form of a spiral or the word induction.
Such dishes do not require special care, they can be washed in the same way as any other.
Induction or electric hob?
In an apartment with a small kitchen, an induction stove will help to avoid stuffiness and excessive heating of the air when cooking. But, as with a conventional hob, new electrical work may be required before installing it. The same applies to cases of replacing gas stoves with electric ones. In old houses designed for gas equipment, the existing wiring, as a rule, is not designed for such loads.
Colours, sizes and sockets: 10 common mistakes when renovating a kitchen
In a country house, you can use any version of the device, if the input power allows it.
Since both stoves are powered by electricity, it is important that the mains voltage is stable, without surges. Otherwise, the equipment may fail. For some malfunctions, repairing an induction cooker may be more expensive than an electric cooker due to the larger number of electronic control units.
When choosing an induction hob, you need to be prepared that it will most likely take some time to get used to the instant heating and power control features.
The maximum power consumption for the two types of stoves is generally the same.
