Why is the JBL speaker flashing red? (all models)

Author Stepan Maistrov Reading 4 min Views 4. 2k. Posted by

Since its founding over seventy years ago, JBL has been a leader in audio equipment, including Bluetooth speakers. JBL offers a wide range of speakers to suit every budget and sound need. Whether you’re looking for a small portable sound system like the JBL Go 2 that you can take with you anywhere, or a huge sound box like the JBL Boombox for your events, JBL has you covered.

When shopping for a reliable yet portable speaker, JBL is one of the brands to look out for. I have good experience with JBL speakers. Some examples of JBL speakers that I have personal experience with include the JBL Go 2, JBL Flip 5, JBL Charge 4, and the premium JBL Boombox 2.

However, one common JBL feature is the LED indicator light. This is a small status indicator used to indicate the various states and actions the speaker is performing. Ever wondered why your JBL speaker is flashing red? In this article, we will learn more about this and the LED indicator.

Causes

The JBL column flashing red indicates a low battery level. This can vary from one model to another, but it usually indicates that your speaker needs to be charged. The intensity and frequency of LED blinking will be different for each JBL model.

© shutterstock

Here are more examples:

  • JBL Charge 3 flashes red. According to the instructions, when the JBL Charge 3 flashes red, it means that the battery is low and needs to be charged. When the indicator turns solid blue, it means that your speaker’s battery is fully charged and should be disconnected from the power source. A full charge of the JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker takes about three and a half hours.
  • JBL Go 2 is one of JBL’s compact and portable Bluetooth speakers. There is only one LED on the front panel which indicates the status. The JBL Go 2 LED will flash red when the battery is low. When connected to the power supply, it will glow red continuously and then turn off when it is fully charged.
  • JBL Flip 3 – consists of five LED indicators or dots that show the battery level. If the speaker is charging, one of the LED dots will flash to show the battery level and charging status. When the battery is fully charged, all LEDs will be on without blinking. When fully charged and the speaker is turned off, all LEDs turn off. The JBL Flip 3 speaker will flash red at the first LED dot to indicate that it needs to be charged.

Why the charging indicator is important

It is very inconvenient to charge the speaker every hour. Consider what would happen if your speaker ran out of power after two or three songs. Thus, battery life is an important consideration when buying a portable speaker. That’s why all JBL models come with an LED indicator and sometimes a voice command that notifies you when the battery is low.

You expect your Bluetooth speaker to last about 24 hours, but this depends on the type of batteries you use and the care you take when charging the battery. Smaller speakers have small batteries and will charge intermittently, such as after about an hour or two.

© shutterstock

Although larger batteries may have longer playback times and can last all day, the lifespan determines the battery life of the speaker, also known as the average battery life. A speaker, for example, can quickly drain a battery, regardless of battery size, due to speaker volume, as it will require more current in the process, shortening battery life. Make sure you use the speaker until it is completely discharged, as this will shorten battery life in the long run.

In order to avoid a complete discharge of the battery, they are designed to indicate this with a flashing red LED. This will alert you to the right time to charge the battery without affecting its overall life.

A USB port is also available on all JBL portable speakers for charging and connecting to the mains. If you use your JBL Bluetooth speakers outdoors more often, you won’t be able to carry the adapter and cable with you at all times. As a result, USB ports come in handy because they allow you to connect the speaker to a power bank, making it even more convenient. If an outlet is not available, plug it into any device to charge your JBL speaker. But always make sure that the power supply has the recommended voltage.

For use almost a year! Bought as a gift for my husband’s birthday in bright red! Thanks to the bright color, the column is easy to find. The speaker is not large in size, it is convenient to take it with you and does not take up much space in your bag, it is also convenient to hold it in your hand. Despite the fact that it is small, it has a very loud, clear sound and good bass, it is very pleasant to listen to. The design of the column is also pleasing to the eye. The case is rubberized. The charge holds well, enough for a day of active listening! It is also a very big plus that the column has protection against water, since we take it with us all the time to nature, to the country! With jbl, listening to music and watching movies has become a pleasure! Price justifies expectations! After a year of active use, it is still like new.

Very loud speaker for its size, I took it as a birthday gift, the guy really liked the speaker. The charge is enough for the whole day, easily finds the phone via bluetooth, convenient connection. I liked that there is a backlight for the charge buttons, bluetooth and on / off, it helps a lot in the dark, and also that it is possible to connect another of the same speaker for more surround sound. In comparison with other brands of speakers of the same indicators that we have already tried to use, this one clearly wins, it has a fairly high-quality sound and bass.

Why is the JBL speaker flashing red? (all models)

Author Stepan Maistrov Reading 4 min Views 4.2k.

Why is the JBL speaker flashing red? (all models)

Author Stepan Maistrov Reading 4 min Views 4.2k.

Advantages

Very loud speaker for its size, I took it as a birthday gift, the guy really liked the speaker. The charge is enough for the whole day, easily finds the phone via bluetooth, convenient connection. I liked that there is a backlight for the charge buttons, bluetooth and on / off, it helps a lot in the dark, and also that it is possible to connect another of the same speaker for more surround sound. In comparison with other brands of speakers of the same indicators that we have already tried to use, this one clearly wins, it has a fairly high-quality sound and bass.
We have not noticed any shortcomings in use yet!)

Beats Pill review: Mini Bluetooth speaker with some pop

In recent months I’ve reviewed several compact, portable Bluetooth speakers and the list of Jawbone Jambox competitors just keeps growing. One of the higher-profile entries in the field is the $199 Beats by Dr. Dre Pill, which, needless to say, looks like a pill — the capsule kind, anyway.

While it wasn’t without a few glitches, its striking design, strong sound for its size, and some extra features, such as tap-to-pair NFC (for smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S3 that support near-field communication), an audio output, and Apt-X technology, help set it apart, though it is overpriced.

Design
Overall, I found the 10.9-ounce Pill, which comes in three colors (black, red, white) to be one of the better-designed mini portable Bluetooth speakers out there. It’s slightly bigger and heavier than the Jambox and I liked its cylindrical shape — it fits nicely in hand. The product ships with a quality carrying case and the Pill stows away in your luggage or backpack easily enough. It’s a little bulky for laptop bags, though it’ll fit fine so long as you’re not toting around too much stuff the way I typically do.

Available in black, red, or white, the speaker comes packaged like a pill. Sarah Tew/CNET

Not surprisingly, the bottom of the unit is rubberized to help keep it from moving around when you crank the volume and fire up a bass-heavy track. In my tests, it stayed in one place even at higher volumes.

The Pill has a total of 4 drivers and plays loud for its compact size. Sarah Tew/CNET

Features
As noted, the Pill has a couple of extra features. Like the Jambox and the Jabra Solemate, it has a built-in speakerphone. If a call comes in while you’re streaming music to the speaker, you can hit the “B” button on the front of the speaker to take the call and the music will pause.

The speaker has both an audio input and an output. Its built-in rechargeable battery charges via USB. Sarah Tew/CNET

The aforementioned tap-to-pair NFC feature, which I tried with a Samsung Galaxy S3, sounds better than it really is because it only saves you a few seconds of setup time, if that.

The speaker in its protective carrying case. Sarah Tew/CNET

As for the Apt-X technology, it’s supposed to enhance audio fidelity, but I personally had trouble telling the difference in sound quality when I streamed from the Apt-X-enabled Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 4S, which doesn’t have Apt-X.

The final feature worth highlighting is the Pill’s connectivity. It charges via USB and has both an audio input and an audio output. Most of these little portable speakers have an input for connecting non-Bluetooth devices, so no biggie there. But the audio output is kind of interesting. It allows you to connect the speaker to AV receiver or amp and stream audio wirelessly from your computer or mobile device to the Pill, which then outputs sound to your home audio system. In other words, the Pill can be used as a pass-through Bluetooth receiver. I’m not sure how many people will bother with this feature since this is first and foremost a mobile speaker. But it may appeal to some folks.

The speaker up close. Sarah Tew/CNET

Performance
From a sound standpoint, the Pill is comparatively quite decent. It plays very loud for its size — it can fill a small room with sound — and offers relatively detailed sound (notice the use of the word “relatively”) with respectable bass compared with other tiny speakers in its class. You can augment that bass a bit by moving the speaker closer to a wall or place it in a corner so you get some reflection.

I compared it with both the Jawbone Jambox and the Jabra Solemate and it offered slightly better sound than both. It was clearer and had tighter bass than the Solemate and played louder than the Jambox with less distortion at higher volumes. Speakerphone performance was also good.

Despite that praise, the Pill does have its limitations. By that I mean it just doesn’t have the dynamic range of larger speakers, so it will roll off the low end (read: flatten it out) and like a lot of these small speakers it’s strongest in the midrange, so it comes out sounding best with lighter fare and acoustical material.

I should also point out that while this is designated as a stereo speaker, since the drivers are so close together you get little to no stereo separation, though the speaker’s onboard digital processing does its best to make you think the speaker sounds more open and spacious. I got the best sound by sitting 2 to 3 feet away from it and it serves as a perfectly capable laptop or desktop speaker. I also thought it sounded good with movies; I paired it with an iPad Mini and a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Battery life was decent, not great. I got around 6 hours at modest volume levels. You can do better at lower volumes or worse if you really crank the speaker.

The one performance strike I found against the speaker was that it occasionally cut out on me when I was using it with the iPhone 4S. While I got the occasional Bluetooth hiccup using it with a couple of Android devices, it completely disconnected on me a few times with the iPhone 4S and the connection was generally unstable. I reset my phone and it got a little better, but I still ran into problems. I think this is due to a glitch in iOS 6 where Apple upgraded its Bluetooth profile to the latest version and possibly created a Bluetooth bug so to speak (manufacturers may be forced to upgrade their firmware). Hopefully, this issue will be addressed with a firmware upgrade, or perhaps an iOS upgrade.

Conclusion
The Pill has a lot going for, but also some drawbacks. The Pill has an impressive design, sounds a bit better than certain competing products, has a strong feature set, and its accompanying carrying case is nice. However, I did encounter some hiccups during playback with my iPhone 4S. That’s could very well be an Apple’s software issue (it worked fine with a Samsung Galaxy S3), so I’m not ready to blame Beats. But it was still a little disconcerting.

Ultimately, my bigger gripe is that it’s overpriced at $199.99. Since the Pill came out, plenty of new mini Bluetooth speakers have hit the market, and such products as the JBL FLip at half the price are much better deals. Also, the $199 UE Boom is a superior product, with significantly better sound, a water-resistant design, and better battery life.

So while I still like the Pill, I just don’t think I’d pay $199 for it.

Editor’s note: When it was first reviewed, the Beats Pill received a score of 3.5 stars. But with new products hitting the market that offer better performance for the money, we’ve lowered the rating to 3 stars.

Yulia Timokhina, a mother of a 6-year-old daughter from Tyumen, does not treat a cold and SARS in a child with the help of medicines prescribed by doctors in a clinic. She is also against traditional medicine and remedies with unproven effectiveness. Why? Read in the author’s column Tyumen. Further – from the first person.

Once again, I go to the children’s clinic and take my daughter to the emergency room. I know perfectly well that she will now be prescribed antiviral drugs, told to spray down her throat and drink cough pills. But I still lead, although I will throw out the appointment sheet later. Why am I doing this? Because inspection is something I can’t do myself. But everyone can “read medicines”. This will be discussed.

For some reason, it is customary for us, in case of any deviations from the norm (in our opinion), to run to the pharmacy and buy “what helped the neighbor”. Especially we love antiviral and homeopathy. And nominate too. Every time I leave the pediatrician with a list that contains Arbidol, Ergoferon or Kagocel. And I don’t blame the doctor because that’s how they were taught. But now I just turn my head on: I won’t have medicines with unproven effectiveness at home. Do you read the entire instructions before giving the coveted pill to your child? Just get into the habit and a whole new world will open up for you. Yes, you probably know yourself that most of these drugs are used only in the CIS countries, and in the rest – under a strict ban. And how we like to prescribe antibiotics for SARS (even without tests)! Feel free to remind such a doctor at least about resistance and a blood test. Or my favorite “drink vitamins” – and again without tests. But at the next appointment they triumphantly declare: “You see how it helped you!” And you just sit and think: I didn’t give anything from the list.

The situation is the same with relatives who “know better”. There, badger fat, and garlic in the ass, and rubbing with vodka, and even oil for burns are already in use. I try to never argue, it’s easier for me to say: “Okay.” And then, when the child recovers without the help of folk remedies, the same victorious look.

“But it helped me” is generally a separate group of people who, for example, believe in the miraculous effect of granules with liver extract of a non-existent duck. I was always surprised: is it really not a pity to spend a lot of money on drugs whose effectiveness is a placebo effect and nothing more (yes, you just have to look at the instructions and figure it out). With the same success, you can drink tea with lemon and honey: both cheaper and more beneficial. Yes, and you may have noticed that with medicines we get sick for a week, and without them – 7 days. This, of course, does not apply to serious health problems.

I am not treating my child. I try to make him comfortable. Humidify the air at home, rinse your nose with saline, walk, if there is no temperature, where there are no people, eat right. That’s the whole “secret”. I understand that it’s easier to buy half a pharmacy to satisfy my anxiety, they say, I’m doing something. But it is much more pleasant to understand what exactly you are doing and why. Do not be ill!

Remember when Apple took over Beats Electronics in 2014 in one of the biggest tech deals of all time? Well, following the hurried closure of Beats Music – the beat goes on with Apple Music, of course – the tech giant has decided to be more gentle with Beats’ hardware.

The new (fourth) Beats Pill speaker stands as the first product released under the Apple umbrella – ironically, the original Pill was one of Beats’ first self-developed products after parting with Monster back in 2012 – and unsurprisingly has been well and truly Appletized.

Build

At first, you might not even be able to tell. Opting to stick with the familiar Beats’ branding you see on every tube journey, Apple has refrained from brandishing its own logo.

The fact its ‘Plus’ moniker now coincides with that of Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus may be a coincidence, but what’s not is the switch from microUSB to Apple’s lightning connector for charging, so Appleites need only carry a single cable around for both their phone and speaker.

More in keeping with Apple’s design language, it’s had a facelift for an all-round slicker, cleaner design. Not only have volume, power and the multi-purpose button now moved from the side to the top, the sockets to the rear are now covered: peel back a rubber flap a little to uncover the charging socket, or the whole way to get to the 3.5mm input and a USB socket to charge your smartphone. Disappointingly, this doesn’t make the Pill+ waterproof though, so don’t take this pill with water.

A few small dot lights by the power button shows battery level too so you’re not caught out abruptly mid-song.

Apple has stripped the pill of any colour (for now, anyway), ditching the heritage blue and red finishes and going with just classic black and white.

No sign of the rose gold finish yet though. Otherwise, the Pill+ is a close copy of its predecessor, its capsule-shape fusion of mesh grille and rubber defying the hoards of plastic-tastic rivals out there.

Features

Apple hasn’t just sought to make the Pill its own, it has made it better too. While the older version claimed a seven-hour battery life, the Pill+ should party on for 12 (at low volumes, anyway) from a three-hour charge.

Like the old Pill, you can double the dosage by pairing two together, either for a stereo performance or simple multi-room experience. But instead of using NFC to do it, this time a dedicated app – only Apple’s second Android app, alongside an iOS version of course – facilitates pairing, much like with the UE Boom and Megaboom.

Just check your Android device’s compatibility, as one of our review team was unable to download the Beats Pill+ app on an LG G4.

The app unlocks more features too: a DJ mode lets two smartphones or tablets connect to the app to control the speaker so you can counter your friend’s questionable playlist with your own.

MORE: Best wireless speakers 2016

Sound

Slightly larger than the original Pill and with two new tweeters sandwiching two bigger woofers, the Pill+ is all about creating a bigger, fuller sound. Apple claims midrange performance has improved too.

It’s encouraging news. Sound quality has always been the Beats Pills’ Achilles heel and while we hardly need yet another portable Bluetooth speaker, there’s always room for a good one.

First impressions are positive. Its big, solid sound counters its predecessor’s thin, wispy presentation, with balance pleasingly on the straight and narrow.

Those larger drivers and off-angle tweeters do a good job of throwing David Bowie’s Suffragette City out far and wide, taking the bass guitars between the teeth and affording them good weight and depth.

Decent drive and agility make for a feisty, charged rendition, and that’s met with clarity and fair detail across the board, even if we feel vocals favour solidity over absolute transparency.

At low volume, the Pill stays poised amid thrashing cymbals and electrics in Wolf Alice’s You’re a Germ, but as the volume goes higher it loses its cool, resulting in a fair amount of distortion.

The UE Boom 2 (£120) has more composure, as well as greater expression up its sleeve. Play Bright Eyes’ We Are Nowhere And It’s Now and it’s capable of a more emotional, intelligent execution, better communicating the quiver and dynamic inflections of the vocals.

When we find ourselves favouring the Boom 2 at every comparison, naturally our performance-per-pound alarm bells start ringing.

MORE: UE Boom 2 review

Verdict

It’s a bitter pill to swallow for Apple, which has no doubt improved an average speaker line living off the brand’s street cred – just not by enough.

Features pass the test, but sound quality struggles to make any sort of impact in such a bloated market. At £190, this particular Pill is hardly what the doctor ordered.

in the clinic. She is also against traditional medicine and remedies with unproven effectiveness. Why? Read in the author’s column Tyumen. Further – from the first person.

Once again I go to the children’s clinic and take my daughter to the emergency room.

July 18, 2017

Many people use pills to protect themselves, but they still don’t know enough about the drugs.

What are birth control pills?

Contraceptive pills are one of the most effective contraceptives, really reliable and affordable, known for many decades. These are hormonal preparations that contain progestins or progestins along with estrogens. These are all analogues of female hormones. Progestins suppress ovulation, without which it is impossible to get pregnant.

How do they work?

In order for a woman to become pregnant, she needs a mature egg. In the first half of the menstrual cycle, under the influence of hormones, the egg matures and passes from the ovaries into the fallopian tube. After that, in theory, the female germ cell should meet with the sperm and go to the uterus to attach to the wall of the organ there. This requires progesterone, a hormone that prepares the uterus. If conception does not happen, progesterone levels fall and bleeding begins, from which a new cycle starts.

All this time, the level of estrogen and progesterone fluctuates as it is necessary for the conception of a child.

Contraceptive pills create their own hormones in the body.

At the same time, they suppress ovulation, that is, there is simply nothing to fertilize.

Pills have other properties that resist conception. For example, they make the mucus in the cervix thick so that sperm cannot reach the egg, and thin the inner layer of the uterus so that the egg cannot attach to it.

What are birth control pills?

There are two types of tablets:

  1. Progestin with estrogen, or combined. If there is a lot of estrogens, they can suppress ovulation. But at such doses, they have a lot of side effects, so they are not used by themselves for contraception, but are added to pills to simulate a full cycle.
  2. Progestin pills called mini-pills. They are prescribed when conventional pills cannot be used: if a woman is breastfeeding, has migraines, or she has blood clots in her vessels.

They say that these contraceptives have many side effects.

This is true?

Indeed, birth control pills have an impressive list of contraindications and side effects. It is enough to open the instructions for any such drug and see for yourself.

There are four generations of oral contraceptives. The newer the drug, the less hormones there are, and hence the side effects.

Unfortunately, many gynecologists like to prescribe old drugs: such pills are cheaper and “tested by time”. Therefore, just in case, find out from the doctor which generation the medicine he prescribes belongs to, and whether a milder remedy can be found.

Do not hesitate to ask why the gynecologist thinks that these pills are right for you, why they are better than analogues.

What are the dangers of taking contraceptives?

The most severe side effects that occur with oral contraceptives:

  1. Thrombosis. There are many studies that show that the risk of developing thrombosis while taking pills increases.
  2. Cardiovascular diseases.
  3. Glaucoma.

These are rare phenomena that occurred when oral contraceptives first appeared and they were high in hormones. More often there is nausea, dizziness, mood changes, breakthrough bleeding. Usually the symptoms go away after a couple of months, but you need to tell the doctor about them and, if there is no dynamics, change the drug.

Does birth control pills cause weight gain?

No one can say exactly what will happen to your weight. Different studies give different information, but show that, in general, women who take hormonal contraceptives gain some weight.

Average weight gain with mini-pill is no more than 2 kg per year. However, these data are not based on the most accurate studies.

Different types of hormonal contraceptives have approximately the same effect on weight.

Do they cause cancer?

Some studies show that oral contraceptives, especially if used for a long time, on the contrary, reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. Women who take birth control pills for more than five years have a 50% lower risk of developing this type of cancer than women who have never taken the pill.

But the risk of detecting breast or cervical cancer, as well as neoplasms in the liver, increases, albeit slightly. In some cases (if you take the pills for a long time), such dynamics are not traced at all.

Birth control pills are so scary. Can they be used at all?

Possible. They were designed just to be used. Of course, if there are no contraindications.

As already mentioned, modern drugs are becoming safer, they are being tested more and more carefully.

What about contraindications?

Each drug has its own list, but there are general contraindications:

  1. Smoking and age over 35 (if you do not smoke, age does not count).
  2. Tendency to form blood clots.
  3. Estrogen-dependent tumors.
  4. Bleeding from the uterus, the causes of which have not been clarified.
  5. Migraines.
  6. Diabetes with complications of the heart and blood vessels.

The main thing is not to smoke if you decide to take oral contraceptives. Smoking in itself does not lead to good, and in combination with hormonal contraceptives increases the risk of side effects.

What tests do I need to take to get a prescription?

Usually none. Hormonal contraceptives were invented for this purpose, so that they were available, and tons of tests reduce this very availability.

At the consultation, the doctor mainly focuses on what the woman herself tells about her lifestyle, health problems, and medications that she constantly takes. Based on this, he decides which progestin component is more suitable, and prescribes it.

To check whether pills are contraindicated for a woman or not, you really need to pass a series of tests.

My friend took pills. Can I have them too?

No way.

Only a doctor can prescribe tablets after consultation. Suddenly you have contraindications that your girlfriend does not have, and you are at risk? What if her friend’s doctor prescribed her an old-generation drug, or did her friend even buy the medicine on the advice of a neighbor?

You will risk your health, not your girlfriend. Do not do it this way.

Do oral contraceptives allow the ovaries to rest?

The ovaries do not know how to rest and go on vacation, they work most of a woman’s life until menopause occurs.

Hormonal contraceptives do not provide a vacation for the organs, but create an artificial hormonal background and suppress ovulation.

This has nothing to do with rejuvenation, longevity and other miraculous properties that are often attributed to hormones.

Are they needed to straighten the cycle?

Hormonal contraceptives create their own special cycle. The main thing does not happen in it – ovulation of a mature egg. Menstruation in this case does not come because the egg is not fertilized, but because there is a break in taking the pills.

Are Hisense TVs Good and Reliable? (Honest Review)

By

Brendan Greenley

/ Gadgets and Hardware

Hisense TVs are one of the most popular budget TV brands. Yes, their TVs are affordable, but are they actually good and reliable? Let’s talk about the Hisense TV brand.

Table of Contents

Toggle

Are Hisense TVs good?

Generally, Hisense TVs are very good considering the price. They have bright and colorful picture quality, loud speakers, and thin frames that are light but durable enough.

1. Bright and colorful picture quality

One of the best things about Hisense TVs is the picture quality. You’ll enjoy more pixels and over a billion vivid colors if you get an LED or LCD Hisense TV.

This means that viewing any 4K content looks great.

Furthermore, standard definition TV shows will look even better on Hisense TVs than they do on a non-4K TV because they can upscale non-4K content on the screen to near 4K resolutions.

Hisense TVs that support Dolby Vision HDR allow you to enjoy bright and colorful pictures when watching shows on apps like Netflix and Disney Plus.

However, like any other non-OLED TVs, the black levels are not as “jet black”. LED TVs cannot compete with that. But for a budget-friendly QLED TV, the contrast is decent enough.

Some Hisense TVs also support VRR and ALLM which are great for gaming.

2. The TV design is clean and simple

As far as design goes, Hisense TVs are clean and simple.

The front of the screen has a floating panel design, so it looks like the display is “suspended” with almost a borderless look. Then, there’s the Hisense logo in the middle.

There’s also a Dolby Vision logo on the side.

The model that I own is the 55” Hisense TV and believe it or not, the TV is crazy light. I think this is due to the materials since the materials used feel like hard plastic rather than metal.

The screen is also not a glass screen, which reduces its weight significantly.

All of this is not a bad thing because it keeps the weight and the cost of the TV down, but the only downside is that the materials make the TV seem “cheap”.

Despite the thin frame, Hisense TVs are known to be durable. The average TV lasts between 4 to 10 years but I’ve noticed that Hisense TVs last around 5 years.

Looking at the TV stand, it’s got 2 feet on either side of the screen. This means that there’s just enough room to probably fit a soundbar in the middle.

Overall, Hisense has some nicely designed TVs.

3. Remote and voice control work well

As for the remote control, it is functional and does what it’s supposed to do. There are some quick access buttons for a few of the apps, but it’s very light and looks slightly “boring”.

It is, however, easy enough to use.

Then, there’s also the input menu where you can view all of the devices that you’ve got plugged in. You can also rename the input so you’ll know which is which.

Hisense TVs also have voice control (Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant) so you can control the TV using your voice. I think it’s a great feature to have considering the affordable price.

4. Super loud speakers

I’m surprised that my relatively small Hisense TV has very loud speakers. I think this is because my Hisense TV supports DTS Virtual:X so the sound is clear and distortion-free.

Most Hisense TVs also have EQ adjustments. For example, you can adjust the Bass, or turn the Dialog Clarity On or OFF. This allows you to find the perfect balance for watching TV shows.

Just to give you an idea of how loud Hisense TVs are, I never need to increase the volume level above 20. For me, 15 has always been enough.

Some Hisense TVs also have eARC support so you can connect your AVR or soundbar if you don’t want to use the internal speakers. It’s perfect for taking your watching to the next level.

Are Hisense TVs reliable?

Generally, Hisense TVs are fairly reliable. They can last 5 years on average. However, there have been reports that Hisense’s customer service is not the best.

1. Hisense TVs are fairly reliable

Consumer Reports, which is a non-profit organization that reviews products, estimates that 20 percent of Hisense TVs will experience a problem within the first five years of use.

In their assessment of the brand, Consumer Reports gave Hisense a rating of “Fair” for both predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

In an emailed response, Hisense said:

“As the fastest-growing TV brand among the top six brands, with defective rates of less than 4 percent, we stand by the quality and longevity of our TVs and are committed to developing products that speak to the premium technology advances consumers demand, regardless of the category of TV they purchase.”

The findings didn’t reveal what sorts of problems developed, but Consumer Reports did ask consumers what problems they experienced with their TVs overall.

Based on the survey, the most common complaints made by customers over Hisense TVs included streaming apps freezing and slow or inconsistent internet connectivity.

A “Fair” reliability rating doesn’t mean that you’ll definitely get a faulty TV from Hisense. It means that you’ll be more likely to experience a problem within your first 5 years with the TV.

2. There have been reports of poor customer service

Hisense has received plenty of negative reviews as reported by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The customer service has not been the best according to Hisense customers.

One customer had trouble connecting his PS5 with his Hisense TV. After 2 weeks of no signs of an update, here’s what one customer had to say about Hisense’s customer service:

“Their customer care just says you will get a call back in 24 to 48 hours but with no update. I am very much frustrated with Hisense and would recommend never buying its products because you never know what will go wrong with these cheap products. I am still left with no resolution.”

Hisense customer

While I personally never had to deal with issues with my Hisense TVs, there’s a chance that you may deal with unprofessional customer service from Hisense.

Overall, the reliability of Hisense’s customer service is questionable.

Hisense E7HQ – review of budget 4K QLED TV TVs have a high margin of contrast, impressive black depth and stereo sound. The combination of modern technologies and pleasant design will impress any movie fan. The device functions are controlled using a simple and convenient VIDAA OS, which takes the feeling of “communication” with the device to a new level.

The Dolby Vision technology found in the E7HQ TVs utilizes the full processing power of the processor to display a superb image regardless of the light level of the room in which the content is being viewed. In order to understand whether it is worth choosing the Hisense 55E7HQ 4K HDR TV, in this review we will consider all the positive and negative aspects of the new product, as well as its functionality.

DESIGN

Externally, the Hisense 55E7HQ TV is no different from the previous model E76GQ, and therefore does not violate any design conventions. While watching, thin frames are almost invisible, due to which their presence does not interfere with enjoying your favorite movie. This is especially felt in the dark. The bottom bezel with Hisense logo is twice as thick. Thanks to the wide-spaced legs, the TV stands confidently on the surface and does not sway.

Speaking of legs, I would like to note that in the 65″ Hisense E7HQ model, they can be installed closer to each other, which expands the choice of furniture options for a new TV. Under the bottom panel is a trapezoid ledge. It contains an infrared sensor, a long-range microphone array, a switch to turn them off and a Google Assistant LED.

The TV can be wall mounted using a VESA 200×300 bracket. When mounting, please note that the thickness of the 55E7HQ model is about 8 centimeters. Switching connectors are directed to the side, which contributes to a snug fit of the device to the wall. The only connector that is directed perpendicularly is the analog video input, covered with a special cover.

Image quality

Hisense E7HQ TV matrix resolution is 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels). It is made on the basis of QLED technology. The combination of artificial intelligence for image enhancement Hi-View Engine with HDR support for increased contrast results in an impressive result – a sharp picture with rich, vibrant colors, true whites and deep blacks. For a TV in the middle price segment, the combination of such functions is very rare and this cannot but impress.

Regardless of the content you’re viewing, colors remain as natural and natural as possible, even though HDR250 nits isn’t as bright as more expensive models. There is no adaptive brightness to adjust the screen according to the lighting in the room, so you will get the best TV viewing experience on an overcast day or in the evening.

Hisense E7HQ TV has different picture modes: HDRSports, HDR Dynamic, HDR Night and HDR Day. There is also an automatic mode. HDRDay will make the image more visible in bright sunlight, while the colors become somewhat oversaturated. HDRNight, on the contrary, lowers the brightness, due to which the picture seems dimmer than it should be. For most people, the HDRStandard image mode is best, as it does not distort the picture in any way, leaving the colors familiar naturalness.

The TV also has a great auto mode, which uses Alphonso Video AI to adapt the picture based on what’s happening on the screen. To do this, your device will collect information about what you are watching, which can then be used to display targeted ads. This option will not suit everyone.

Smart TV

VIDAAU 5.0 operating system can definitely be called one of the best solutions for modern TVs. Hisense developed it specifically for its Smart TV models, and therefore it looks great in the Hisense E7HQ QLED device. Even though it does not have a huge number of complex functions, its interface is pleasant to operate and intuitive. All applications are located in a tiled menu, which also contains a list of recommendations.

There is access to all popular video services, including PrimeVideo, YouTube, IVI, Megogo and OKKO. Management is done using a proprietary remote control, which is convenient and easy to use. It has a button to call the home page of the operating system, as well as buttons for quick access to some applications of popular video services.

Voice control has a choice of three voice assistants – AmazonAlexa, VidaaVoice or GoogleAssistant. To call them, there is a separate button on the remote control. At the same time, the voice assistant not only allows you to control the device, but is also used as a regular smart speaker. There is also the possibility of synchronization with other smart devices. Despite the fact that the ability to control, for example, lighting, from the E7HQ TV is present, this is not very convenient. To do this, you will have to hold the remote control with the microphone activation button pressed.

Another advantage of Hisense E7HQ TVs is that the operating system is not demanding, unlike Android. This achieves significantly smoother system operation than the nearest competitor TCL C735.

Motion processing and game mode

The picture on the screen is enhanced by variable refresh rate technology. The frequency can change depending on the content being viewed, which allows you to optimize the smoothness of the image and minimize blurring by increasing the number of frames in dynamic scenes.

Hisense 55E7HQ TVs support VRR technology (40 – 60 Hz) and use it every time the displayed content allows. The matrix response time is 8.5 milliseconds at a screen refresh rate of 60 Hz. The display latency also leaves a pleasant impression – just 20 milliseconds, which is a good value and will not feel any discomfort when watching movies or playing video games.

Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) will appeal to gamers, too, for the smoothness and responsiveness of video games. Despite the fact that devices, depending on the region, may have HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K resolution video content will in any case be played at 60 Hz, since there is no technical provision for more.

Sound quality

Most of the content you watch on the TV will remain loud and clear enough. At the same time, of course, the sound quality cannot compete with external acoustic systems. The power of the two-channel audio system of the TV is 16 watts. Speaking of sound, it is worth noting that the E7HQ series lacks dynamic range, and therefore it is not very suitable for watching blockbusters.

TV sound modes include Music, Late Night, Theatre, Speech, Sports, Standard and Auto. For most users, as with picture modes, Auto or Standard is best. When watching movies, it makes sense to switch to the Theater mode, which enhances the surround sound effect. In any case, to get high-quality sound, it is still better to purchase a separate soundbar.

Connections

As mentioned above, Hisense E7HQ TVs have three HDMI 2. 0 connectors, one of them with eARC. For some regions, HDMI 2.1 may be present, which does not provide any advantages, since they still display 120 Hz content at 60 frames. Also in the device there are 2 connectors for USB 2.0 and 3.0 versions.

Due to the presence of two antenna connectors in the device, it is possible to connect both terrestrial and satellite antennas at once. To connect an audio system or headphones, there is a digital optical audio output and a minijack. Like any modern TV, the E7HQ has a slot for a CAM module and a connector for wired Ethernet Internet. Wireless connections are organized using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

E7HQ review summary

At the end of Hisense’s review of E7HQ TVs, I would like to make a brief summary. This model is a great choice if you are looking for an affordable 4K QLED TV. For relatively little money, you will get a rich colorful picture, albeit with a not very high margin of brightness. The design of the TV will be a great decoration for any interior. Not the best sound of the speakers is solved by connecting an external speaker system.

Hisense Vidaa U proprietary operating system will allow you to access all popular applications and video streaming services, while delighting you with a pleasant interface. One of the biggest pluses is that it easily fits into your smart home system and allows you to control it with one of three popular voice assistants right from the remote control.

Leaders review: three versions of the Samsung Galaxy S10 that have already conquered the market

Samsung Galaxy is 10 years of innovation in mobile technology. The next generation of Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10e smartphones are here.

LTE and LTE-A: what is it and why is it in phones

The standard for wireless data transmission LTE in Russia has been known for a long time. However, it is often referred to as 4G LTE. However, not everyone knows the new LTE-A (4G+) standard, which is several times faster than its predecessor.

Hisense 50A6BG UHD TV review: smart and pretty

The amount of 4K content continues to grow, and buying a TV with a lower resolution today is only for the kitchen or with a severely limited budget. Of course, OLED TVs are still expensive, but there are enough affordable models on the market with conventional VA or IPS matrices and a generous package of “improvers”. Hisense just has a new A6G series, which is still on sale. The line promises models with diagonals from 43 to 65 inches, for every taste. We took the 50-inch version for testing to evaluate the budget version of a modern UHD TV.

Design

Externally, Hisense 50A6G is not much different from more expensive models. The screen bezels are very thin. less than a centimeter.

The TV stands on two V-shaped legs, and their height can be called optimal: not too big, but enough to install a miniature soundbar. If you are interested in a specific figure – almost 8 cm.

If you want to hang it on the wall, you will need a mount with VESA 200x300mm.

  • Operation

How to determine the optimal distance to the TV (+ table)

Image quality

The screen is made on a VA-matrix and is generally not bad. A traditional problem for matrices of this type is small viewing angles. Here, according to the sensations, the picture remains stable within 100-110 ° (in the characteristics – 178 °). That is, you can sit on the couch with three of us and comfortably watch the video without any loss or distortion. Only when viewed from a large angle begin to lose color.

Brightness and contrast are sufficient for most situations. If the room is not located on the “sunny side”, there will be no problems. With direct beams of brightness (peak – up to 300 nits) may not be enough. In a very dark room, you can notice stray light: since there is no local dimming technology, some black areas look more like dark gray.

The TV works great with HDR content and upscales sub-4K video really well. It’s nice to watch even Full HD on it. There is a content recognition system: for example, when demonstrating a landscape, AI can make the play of shadows more obvious, and when watching a sports broadcast, it can keep the contours of dynamically moving people and objects clearer.

Hisense 50A6BG has received TÜV Rheinland certification, so it is guaranteed to reduce harmful effects on the eyes by reducing the level of blue light emission. This may be important for those who spend a lot of time watching.

Sound quality

A nice feature: the 50A6BG has a DTS Virtual-X speaker system. This is a format that allows you to create surround sound using a conventional stereo system. Of course, the device itself has support for Dolby Audio and DTS. How does it work in practice?

As in the case of a conventional home cinema, everything depends heavily on the location of the TV. If it hangs on an empty wall (that is, at least half a meter of free space remains on the right and left), the sound of the speaker system is indeed better than that of ordinary TVs. But if you put it in a headset niche, all the “voluminousness”, of course, disappears.

Nevertheless, the sound is decent anyway. There is a bass boost option and even an equalizer for customization. And with the help of eARC, you can also output sound to an external source – for example, the same soundbar.

Smart TV

The TV runs on the proprietary VIDAA U5.0 platform. Compared to Android operating systems that continue to gain popularity, this one is not so varied, but there is no shortage of applications here. All the main ones, including Russian online cinemas, exist, but Netflix is actively promoting. So active that even when you turn it on for the first time, the device asks you: are we going to watch Netflix or live channels? Yes, and on the main page of Smart-TV, the content of this particular service occupies a central position.

You can connect a mouse to the TV or use voice search to avoid typing queries on the inconvenient on-screen keyboard using the remote control. Moreover, there are two assistants to choose from: Alice from Yandex or a full-time VIDAA assistant. There is another way. You can control your TV through the VIDAA Smart App. It is enough to connect your smartphone and TV to the same network, and they will “see” each other automatically. You will only need to confirm the pairing by entering the proposed code on your mobile gadget.

The application has three main tabs. One allows you to use your smartphone as a remote control: switch channels, adjust the volume, navigate through the menu. The second is focused on Smart TV: you can just quickly type a request in it. The third is focused on broadcasting photos and videos from your smartphone to the big screen. In general, everything is very convenient.

Interfaces

The interfaces are obviously not greedy. All the necessary connectors are available: 4 * HDMI, USB 2.0 and 3.0, composite input, audio line-out, Ethernet for wired Internet connection… Most of the connectors are oriented to the side – this makes it easier to connect when placing the TV on the wall.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the ability of the TV to connect a game console. The new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X require an HDMI 2.1 TV, and here it is. True, the advantages of this standard are the ability to transmit a 4K signal at 120 frames per second, while Hisense 50A6G has the most standard hertz, 60 Hz. But there is a special game mode in which the delay is less than 16 ms, and this is a very good indicator for a TV.

  • Technology

HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort – what’s the difference?

Total: is it worth buying Hisense 50A6BG?

Hisense’s new TV looks definitely better than the cheaper UHD models from earlier model years. It has all the latest – from the banal support for the HEVC (H.265) codec to support for the application and surround sound technologies.
