Elvis’s Debut on the Silver Screen
My guess would be that the story for Love Me Tender was probably laying around the offices at 20th Century Fox and would have been a B western starring Richard Egan. In fact the original title was in fact The Brothers Reno.
But along came Elvis Presley and when Darryl F. Zanuck signed him for his feature film debut the story had to be reworked to accommodate his presence. Of course four songs had to be added, including the title tune, which was a rewording of the famous Civil War era ballad Aura Lee.
The Reno brothers, Richard Egan, James Drury, and William Campbell go to war, enlisting in the Confederate Army. The youngest brother Elvis Presley stays home to take care of Mother Reno, played by Mildred Dunnock and the family farm. When it’s reported that Egan was killed, fiancé Debra Paget marries Elvis.
Of course all three Reno brothers return, sound of wind and limb. The day after the Civil War ended, the brothers and others rob a Yankee paymaster and split the money.
They’re outlaws now, but a reasonable carpetbagger administrator played by Robert Middleton is willing to forgive and forget if he gets the money back. That and the return of Egan lead to the ensuing conflicts in Love Me Tender.
I have no doubt that Colonel Tom Parker chose this particular screen property for his star and as usual Colonel Tom chose well. The southern civil war background of the story made perfect casting for Elvis. Of course his hip wiggling gyrations in the post bellum South seem out of place, but that’s what the ticket buyers to an Elvis film wanted.
And he certainly sang Love Me Tender real good.

Intel’s SSD 670p delivers on both speed and security with faster throughput and hardware encryption support. While Intel’s SSD 670p leverages QLC flash, it is tweaked and tuned where it matters, making it a stellar consumer-oriented PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD.
Why you can trust Tom’s Hardware
Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.
Intel’s SSD 670p rocks an updated PCIe 3.0 x4 controller and the company’s new 144-Layer QLC flash, offering up efficient and performant storage in a slim-yet-spacious M.2 package. It also comes with AES 256-bit hardware encryption support, making it a secure pick for those with sensitive data.
Intel’s SSD 6-series M.2 NVMe SSDs brought Intel’s QLC flash to the mainstream market. With bargain price points and plenty of capacity, both the SSD 660p and SSD 665p have been excellent options for value seekers willing to accept less-than-mainstream levels of performance. However, while responsive, these SSDs couldn’t quite keep pace with the best SSDs on the market and lacked the endurance ratings we have grown accustomed to with TLC flash-based SSDs.
While those SSDs have historically been good budget picks, Intel’s SSD 670p aims to take the SSD 6 series to another level. Intel’s SSD 670p is more than a simple revision — the low-cost M.2 SSD comes with the latest leading-edge NAND technology, improved endurance, and plenty of optimizations for office productivity and gaming.

The SSD 670p is available in capacities of up to 2TB with pricing that ranges from $0. 15-$0.17 per gigabyte. Intel tweaked and tuned the drives for low queue depth requests, making them snappy in everyday desktop PC tasks, and also focused on tuning for mixed read/write workloads to assure strong performance in more demanding workloads.
The SSD 670p can deliver up to 3.5/2.7 GBps of sequential read/write throughput and sustain up to 20,000/54,000 random read/write IOPS at a queue depth (QD) of 1, an important metric to quantify snappiness during non-demanding tasks. Peak performance reaches up to 310,000/340,000 random read/write IOPS at a queue depth of 256. Notably, these specifications are based on the SSD’s dynamic SLC cache. Because cache performance is so important, Intel optimized the design to improve performance when the drive is nearly full.
Like the SSD 665p, the 2TB SSD 670p’s cache measures up to 280GB when the device is empty, but the dynamic cache remains available until the drive is 85% full, an improvement over the 75% threshold with the older drive. At that point and beyond, the drive will operate with only a static SLC cache that measures 6GB per 512GB of capacity.
Intel’s SSD 670p features global wear-leveling and supports robust LDPC error correction capabilities, end-to-end data path protection, and DRAM ECC and SRAM ECC for data reliability. These, in conjunction with the new flash’s enhancements, enable Intel to back the Intel SSD 670p with a five-year warranty and improve its write endurance over its predecessor. The 670p’s write endurance rating is 185 TBW for every 512GB of capacity, but the drive is only overprovisioned by 7% from the factory (2% less than Samsung drives, on average).
While Intel has improved the SSD 670p’s endurance rating over its predecessors (endurance jumps from 100-150TBW per 512GB to 185TBW), the drive still can’t entirely overcome the endurance penalties associated with QLC flash. For instance, the Adata XPG Gammix S50 Lite comes with TLC flash and features 370TBW per 512GB of capacity, while the TLC-powered Samsung 970 Evo Plus comes with 300TBW per 512GB of capacity. The SSD 670p trails these drives in endurance but most consumers will write roughly 60-160TB of data in five years, meaning the 670p should provide plenty of endurance for a typical user.
Intel supports the SSD 670p with the Intel Memory and Storage Tool (Intel MAS). This software allows you to monitor drive health, run diagnostic tests, update the firmware, and manually clear the SLC cache. Additionally, Intel provides an NVMe driver for its consumer SSDs, but at the time of publication, the latest downloadable version (version 5.1.0.1003) will not install on the SSD 670p.
Intel’s SSD 670p comes in an M.2 2280 single-sided form factor for compatibility with the latest thin and light devices. Aesthetically, the SSD 670p’s green PCB and the white sticker aren’t the most attractive, but that only matters if you’re going to place the drive inside a new desktop build with a see-through panel and leave it exposed without a heatsink.
The SSD 670p uses a custom Silicon Motion’s SM2265 controller, one of the company’s latest NVMe SSDs controllers specifically optimized for use with Intel’s latest 144-Layer 3D QLC flash. The SM2265’s architecture is similar to the SM2267 that powers the Adata XPG Gammix S50 Lite, but it lacks the higher-bandwidth PCIe Gen4 interface, employing a Gen3 PHY instead.
The SM2265 leverages two Arm Cortex R5 CPU cores for I/O processing and interfaces with a single 2Gb Nanya DDR3L-1866 DRAM chip to buffer FTL metadata. It’s produced on a 28nm process node for cost-effective production and cool thermals. The drive also supports power-saving features, including ASPM, APST, and L1.2 sleep (rated at just 3mW of consumption), along with hardware-accelerated AES 256-bit encryption with support for Pyrite 2.0 for the security-conscious.
Our 2TB sample comes armed with sixteen dies of Intel’s latest 144-Layer QLC flash, with eight dies per package. 2) and layer heights the company has ever achieved. To reach 144 layers, Intel has moved to a 3-deck stack (48+48+48 layers) design, an industry first for mass-produced flash.
In this block-by-deck architecture, Intel separates each deck with a dummy layer, and each deck can operate as either SLC or QLC. For more efficient block erases, each deck can be erased without touching the data stored on the other decks. Intel says this approach helps tremendously with garbage collection and boosts quality of service (QoS) significantly.
The flash architecture also incorporates CMOS under the array (CuA) tech to boost density and features quad-plane access to enhance parallelism. Intel uses a floating gate cell design to optimize die space and boost data retention. Intel also claims the design can handle more parallel data operations.
Intel also implemented a new independent multi-plane read operation (IMPRO) technique to double the number of read operations by splitting the four planes into dual two-plane groups that can be read asynchronously, allowing the SSD to simultaneously read from the TLC and QLC portions of the flash. The asynchronous nature of IMPRO can create noise coupling. To mitigate that effect, Intel configures the charge-pumps, wordline/bitline regulators, and drop-out (LDO) regulators to drive separate loads in each plane group.
Additionally, to address the sensitivity of QLC technology and reduce first-pass program penalties, the flash features a 4-16 multi-pass programming algorithm and a 1-2-6-6 Gray code. The cells are optimized via a quad-level dynamic start technique that first programs the cell to a 4-level state, and then after the data is read from the cells, the cells are programmed into the final 16-state level.

September 7, 2021 Update: We’ve updated this article with new testing for the 4TB Seagate FireCuda 530 M.2 NVMe SSD on page 2. This drive has also been added to our list of Best SSDs for the PS5.
Original Review for the 2TB capacity was published on August 22, 2021:
Seagate FireCuda 530 (500GB SSD) at Amazon for $56.99
Seagate’s FireCuda 530 will burn through workloads, but will just as likely set your wallet ablaze at checkout. This lightning-quick PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD delivers some of the best performance we’ve seen, but at roughly twice the price of an average NVMe SSD. The FireCuda 530 is a premium device for built professionals, rather than the average gamer.
We’ve been eagerly awaiting retail SSDs with Micron’s 176L TLC replacement gate flash, ever since we took a close look at a Phison PS5018-E18-based engineering sample paired with it. After seeing that promising performance, we couldn’t wait to see a retail product. While our recent review of Crucial’s P5 Plus gave us another perspective on this new flash with a different controller, it was apparent that to truly unlock the potential of Micron’s new flash, Phison’s E18 NVMe SSD controller was needed.
Today, we look at the Seagate FireCuda 530 to gain even more perspective on Micron’s new flash. The FireCuda 530 is closely based on the same components and layout as the Phison engineering sample, but there is a difference beyond just the sticker overtop of the hardware and optional heatsink SKU.
Seagate’s FireCuda 530 features Seagate-validated, final production firmware as well as production-grade flash rated for 3000 program/erase cycles, not the early sample-grade flash that our sample had rated at just half the P/E cycles. Also, unexpectedly, the FireCuda 530 reports flash interface speeds clocking just 1,200 MTps, matching that of other E18-based SSDs paired with Micron’s 96L floating gate TLC rather than our engineering sample that ran at the full 1,600 MTps capability.
While these slower speeds may seem strange at first sight, this is likely done to ensure reliable and dependable performance under sustained abuse, as the FireCuda 530 comes with a robust warranty and endurance ratings. Unlike competing SSDs, the FireCuda 530 comes backed by data recovery services throughout the majority of its warranty, which we’re sure is one reason for its high price.

Seagate’s FireCuda 530 comes in capacities of 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. The heatsink-less models are priced at roughly $0.24 per GB, while the models including a heatsink cost roughly $0.25-$0.32 per GB. The larger capacities are rated to deliver sequential speeds of up to 7.3/6.9 GBps read/write, and even the smallest capacity is rated for read speeds of up to 7GBps. Furthermore, the FireCuda 530 is rated to deliver upwards of 1,000,000/1,000,000 random read/write IOPS at its largest capacities.
Seagate backs the FireCuda 530 with rather high endurance ratings, more than twice that of the average Samsung or WD SSD. The 2TB model we are testing today is rated to sustain up to 2,550 terabytes of writes within its five-year warranty, and the 4TB is rated for up to a robust 5,100 TB of writes. While that is impressive, to say the least, what is even more impressive is the fact that the FireCuda 530 comes with three years of Rescue Data Recovery Services on top, to protect your precious data against unexpected data loss when traditional means fail. No competitor offers such robust protection.
Seagate provides downloads to Seagate DiscWizard, essentially an OEM licensed copy of Acronis True Image, and Seagate Seatools GUI, a simple and easy-to-use app to monitor your SSD’s health and more.
With its clean label and black PCB, the Seagate FireCuda 530 gets a thumbs up from us in the looks department. The drive comes in an M.2 2280 single-sided form factor at the 500GB and 1TB capacities and a double-sided form factor at the larger 2TB and 4TB capacities.
With Phison’s PS5018-E18 powering it, the FireCuda 530 boasts high-ranking performance capability that should run even faster now that it is paired with Micron’s newest flash. The E18 features a penta-core, DRAM-based architecture, with the primary cores clocking 1GHz. It utilizes an eight-channel PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4-compliant design to interface with all the flash, and interfaces with two 8Gb SK hynix DDR4 DRAM IC at speeds of 1,600MHz to accelerate FTL access for low-latency mapping table addressing and wear-leveling.
Additionally, the controller is built on a 12nm process to ensure cool operation, although the controller also supports ASPM and ASPT, and L1.2, along with thermal throttle protection as well. Also noteworthy is the fact that the thermal protection limit has been raised from 70C to 90C. Furthermore, in terms of features, Seagate’s FireCuda 530 comes outfitted with Phison’s robust SmartECC engine, which leverages a fourth-generation Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) ECC. It also comes with end-to-end data path protection, Trim support, and S.M.A.R.T. data reporting capability. It also features XTS-AES 256-bit encryption that is enabled by default without user authentication and will prevent threat actors from reading data directly from NAND.
Built using such a robust controller in combination with thirty-two 512Gb dies of Micron’s production-grade 176L replacement gate TLC flash, the FireCuda 530 was made to perform. Surprisingly, though, the company still left some performance on the table in its implementation. Rather than operate the flash at 1,600 MTps as we had hoped for and expected, the 530’s flash operates at just 1,200 MTps, based on our software reports.
Still, this speed, when paired with all the benefits that the new flash has to offer, will provide for plenty of uplift in comparison to Phison E18-based SSDs paired with Micron’s 96L floating gate TLC interfacing at the same speed. Not only does this flash feature four planes, but also multiple physical enhancements to its design over the company’s previous memory. Micron’s replacement gate flash uses metal-based control gates, features an increased etch diameter, and reduced cell-to-cell capacitive coupling issues to provide for its fast performance and high-end endurance.

What are the benefits of an M.2 SSD?
PCI-Express M.2 SSDs offer several distinct advantages over other types of drives.
Even budget models are capable of speeds up to 2-3 GB / s, and premium devices are even higher.
Also a big plus of the M.2 SSD is its compact size and lack of wires.
This allows them to be used in all models of computers and laptops, including very small ones.
SSD M2 or SATA 3 which is better?
To determine which is better SSD M2 or SATA 3, you need to carefully study the features of each interface.
The SATA 3 connection is made by connecting power and data cables to the drive and motherboard. The speed of writing and reading in this case is no more than 550 MB / s.
M.2 drive is basically a term for a physical form factor that uses the NVMe protocol.
It is much faster than the SATA 3 protocol and therefore much better.

From the video you will learn how to choose an M.2 SSD:
Choosing the best M.2 SSD in 2022
Choosing the best SSD for a computer is no less a responsible task than buying a good processor or video card . The “correctly” selected solid-state drive will greatly speed up the work of programs, reduce the boot time of the operating system and make it more responsive. A mistake when buying it will lead to a bottleneck that will slow down the entire system and bring you a lot of unpleasant emotions.
In today’s top you will find, in our opinion, the best solid state drives on the market. We hope this will help you make the right choice.
Contents
Top PCIe 4.0 SSDs
Best PCIe 3.0 SSDs
If you have a fresh PC with 11th Gen Intel Core or Ryzen 3000 processors or better, the best way to speed it up is to buy a high-speed PCIe 4.0 SSD. Well, we have selected the best of them for you.
Samsung 980 PRO
This is probably the best SSD for gamers and enthusiasts you can buy today. The combination of Samsung’s proprietary Elpis controller and Samsung’s high-speed V-NAND TLC memory delivers high-speed SSD performance, while a range of proprietary technologies ensure stable performance in virtually all usage scenarios.
The specific speed of the SSD depends on its capacity – 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB – and for older models it can reach 7000 MB / s for sequential reading and 5100 MB for writing. And the performance of the drive in random access operations in 4K blocks reaches 1,000,000 IOPS. In order to appreciate all the advantages of this SSD, it is worth buying models with a capacity of 500 GB, and preferably 1 TB – the speed performance of its 250 GB version is much lower.
Kingston KC3000
This is one of the fastest M.2 SSDs on the market, and you can evaluate its capabilities in our review. Just keep in mind that we only tested the 512 GB version of the drive, while its 1 and 2 TB versions have much higher speed characteristics. Suffice it to say that the Kingston KC3000 offers sequential read/write speeds up to 7000 MB/s, and its random access performance reaches 1,000,000 IOPS. These SSD capabilities are made possible by the combination of the powerful Phison PS5018-E18 controller and Micron’s 176-layer 3D TLC NAND memory.
Kingston’s design is faster than the Samsung 980 PRO and has a higher resource, but this is achieved at the cost of reducing the energy efficiency of the drive. Which means it’s great for a desktop, but might not be the best choice for a laptop. It also lacks AES hardware encryption, which is important for some.
WD Black SN850
WD Black SN850 is available in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. The read speed of each of them reaches 7000 MB / s, but, most interestingly, the fastest in the line was not the most capacious SSD (as is usually the case), but a 1 TB drive. Its sequential write speed reaches 5300 MB / s, and performance in random access operations is 1,000,000 and 720,000 IOPS for reading and writing, respectively.
The SSD itself uses a proprietary WD_BLACK G2 controller and BiCS4 96L TLC memory. The solid state drive is much inferior to the same Samsung 980 PRO in random write, lacks support for AES 256 hardware encryption and has a slightly higher idle power consumption. However, it is much cheaper than the development of Samsung, and the capabilities of the model easily allow it to be included in the list of the best M.2 SSDs.
Technology
What is NVMe SSD: why is it better than SATA
Crucial P5 Plus
If all the SSDs discussed above were top drives, then the Crucial P5 Plus is a pronounced middling offering more than decent performance for a very affordable price tag. It uses a Micron DM01B2 controller and Micron’s 176-layer TLC 3D NAND memory.
As for the performance of the SSD, there were no surprises. The most capacious 2 GB drive in the line provides maximum speed – up to 6600 / 5000 MB / s in sequential read / write operations and up to 720K IOPS in random read operations. At the same time, the greatest emphasis in the development of the drive was placed on data protection (AES-256 with OPAL 2.0) and random write speed – for all models of the line it reaches 700,000 IOPS.
Of course, PCIe 4.0 SSDs offer much better performance than their PCIe 3.0 brethren. But to use such an SSD, you need a modern computer, and its price is often higher than the latter. Therefore, the demand for M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSDs is still very high, and it would not be entirely reasonable to ignore them when compiling our top.
Accessories
How to choose an SSD drive for a computer or laptop
Samsung 980
This is not the cheapest, but extremely fast PCIe 3. 0 SSD. It uses a proprietary Samsung Pablo controller in combination with 128-layer Samsung V-NAND TLC memory, and the main feature of the model lies in the absence of DRAM. It is thanks to this that the SSD costs noticeably less than it could, and the key disadvantages of such a solution are partly offset by Samsung’s fastest flash memory.
Of course, the PCIe 3.0 interface limits the drive’s capabilities. Therefore, the sequential read / write speed of even the older 1TB model does not rise above 3500 / 3000 MB / s, and its performance in random read and write operations is limited to 500K and 480K IOPS, respectively. Well, the random read speed of the “youngest” representative of the 250 GB line does not exceed 230K IOPS at all. Therefore, when buying such an SSD, we recommend choosing 500 GB or 1 TB models – the difference in their speed is not so great.
Samsung 970 EVO Plus
If you really want the fastest M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD without any reservations, then the Samsung 970 EVO Plus is the best choice here. It uses Samsung’s proprietary Phoenix controller, coupled with Samsung’s fast V-NAND TLC memory, and features Samsung’s LPDDR4 memory-based DRAM cache.
The
top model SSD delivers up to 3500/3300MB/s sequential read/write speeds with up to 620K/560K random read/write IOPS performance. True, this SSD costs accordingly. And, as is usually the case, the junior representative of the 256 GB series has much lower speed characteristics, and we recommend choosing between the three remaining models of 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB.
Operation
Flash drive, SSD, memory card: what’s the difference?
Digma Mega S3
Digma Mega S3 is a good choice for those who are looking for a hard drive replacement drive. It has a simpler controller, Silicon Motion SM2259XT, combined with 3D TLC NAND memory, but at the same time, the cost of an SSD is very democratic, and the speed is still much higher than that of classic HDDs.
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 counts good build quality, reasonable specs, and decent performance among its list of qualities. It’s just a shame that its list of negatives is similarly extensive, with an unremarkable screen, flimsy keyboard, and battery performance that leaves much to be desired among the most jarring.
Design-wise, this laptop will attract more shrugs than gasps of admiration, while epic poems will probably not be written about its performance as well. The Inspiron 15 5000 is exactly what it looks like, a low to mid-priced gadget designed to get through several tasks without truly excelling at any.
Design and Appearance
Dell doesn’t stray too far from the known when it comes to the design of laptops in the Inspiron series, with the result being that many of them look practically identical. The Inspiron 15 5000 looks almost exactly like its predecessor, the Inspiron 14. A key difference is that the latter sports a completely metal finish, while the former is predominantly plastic.
That said, the Inspiron 15 5000’s build quality is surprisingly good. The screen doesn’t wobble when you lift the lid and barring a few jitters, the underside holds up quite well. The keyboard is another matter entirely (as you’ll find out later), but overall, the laptop feels sturdy enough to survive a few bumps and scrapes.
Weighing almost five pounds, this laptop is certainly not ultraportable, and your hands may begin to feel the strain if you hold it for extended periods.
Still, it looks and feels sturdy, which counts for a lot. As long as you don’t place a heavy weight of expectation on it, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 can carry you through significant periods of usage.
Ports and Connection
The Inspiron 15 5000 did not throw up any surprises in terms of its design and its port situation doesn’t offer up any surprises either. A trio of USB ports, an HDMI output, and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as an SD card reader, round out the port configuration.
The memory, hard drive, battery, processor, and wireless card are all conveniently accessible through the base panel, which lifts away once only two screws are removed.
Keyboard and Input Devices
This laptop’s keyboard underwhelms massively. The island-style keys boast 1.4 millimeters of travel, but the keys feel distinctly plasticky and loose, making it hard to enjoy performing any productive task with them. On a positive note, the presence of a number pad offers a rare moment of cheer to number crunchers.
For serious typing, the keys themselves aren’t ideal. The keys don’t have enough travel, and the base isn’t sturdy enough – a combination of problems that can make the keyboard seem unsatisfactory, lacking the movement and conviction of better, more costly laptops. It’s fine for browsing, instant messaging, and the occasional email, but that’s about all it’s good for.
On another note, the touchpad is fairly accurate and pretty spacious. The touchpad is initially excessively sensitive, but this can be adjusted in the Control Panel, and the rest of the device is fine – the surface is smooth and responsive, and the buttons are light and consistent.
Audio
This laptop is solid if not outstanding in the audio department. The speakers are loud enough to circulate a small room, and the vocals are pretty decent. Because the top-end is tinny and the bass isn’t powerful enough, music, movies, and games all lack oomph. On the other hand, it’ll work perfectly for video conferencing.
Display
It’s hard to get excited by the Dell Inspiron 15 5000’s display. The laptop’s 15.6 inches screen is a big disappointment, and we found that it sucked most of the enjoyment out of the multimedia tasks we put it through. The display appears dull, and it struggles to maintain visibility when the laptop is used out in the open.
The screen covers just 67 percent of the sRGB color gamut, falling well short of the average 89 percent that’s the benchmark for laptops in this category. Colors are inaccurate, with a color temperature of 7,761K, which is significantly too chilly.
In terms of screen brightness, this laptop doesn’t measure up to standards as well, with its average of 175 nits comfortably dwarfed by the category average of 230 nits. Due to these limitations, the screen lacks the quality and resolution needed to handle serious tasks, with its main flaws being a lack of contrast and color accuracy. It’s good for browsing the Web and watching videos while you’re on the go, but not much else.
The screen is wrapped on all four sides by large bezels, and there’s a webcam fitted snugly at the top bezel.
Graphics
Equipped with Intel’s integrated UHD 620 graphics, the Inspiron 15 5000 laptop offers decent graphics capacities. That is to say that it’ll execute tasks that are not graphics-intensive daily easily and struggle against tasks that are.
You may be able to get away with light photo and video editing, along with other content creation tasks without the laptop feeling like it may explode at any moment. Anything heavier and you may have to call the fire department.
Gaming
Some laptops can deliver a fairly decent gaming experience despite not wearing the gaming laptop tag. The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is not one of those laptops.
Its fast processor and plentiful RAM should ordinarily count for something, but they’ve been hamstrung in this case by the inadequate graphics card. Bringing down settings to the barest minimum may help smoothen the terrain for older titles to run at decent frame rates, but AAA games are pretty much out of the question.
Battery
Again, this laptop’s battery is not up to par. On a single charge, it offers about five hours standby time, well below the category average of 8 hours. The laptop isn’t overly light, to begin with, and with this, you’ll have to carry its charger everywhere with you as well, if you’re looking to use the laptop for extended periods.
As usual, you can eke out some more time by dialing down operations, but it’s hard to see how this will significantly improve things.
Cooling and Noise Emission
The laptop’s fans make themselves heard intermittently, going into overdrive when the laptop is forced to execute tasking programs. The noise does get irritating sometimes, and we found ourselves wishing for headphones to drown out the noise. Thankfully, upgrading to an SSD fixes this issue effectively.
Generally, the Inspiron remains cool under pressure, staying below our 95-degree Fahrenheit comfort level.
Performance
The Inspiron 15 5000 is offered in a number of configurations, with a slew of hardware options available at different price points. Our review model packed an Intel Core i7-825OU processor, 8GB of RAM, Intel UHD 620 graphics, and a 1TB HDD under its hood. Both the RAM and HDD are upgradeable, and the HDD can be swapped for an SSD.
Those are decent enough specs and the laptop’s performance is better for it. It scraped through our benchmark tests without much ado, even though it struggled a bit with the more intensive ones. Ultimately, though, this laptop performs smoothly, lags infrequently, and multitasks like a real pro.
It is powerful enough to handle a swarm of chrome tabs, a few spreadsheets, and a 1080p film all at once.
Final Verdict
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is a tight laptop that won’t win many awards for design and performance, but the laptop is actually pretty decent in its own right, much like the Inspiron 11.
A few concessions had to be made to keep its price low, as evidenced by the below-par keyboard and unremarkable screen. Its middling battery also falls way short of expectations.
On the whole, however, this laptop boasts good build quality, with just enough power to satisfy most casual users.

Our Verdict
Dell combines a gorgeous case with decent performance for one of the best all-around laptops under $500.
I have to hand it to Dell: In the category of “$500 laptops,” the veteran manufacturer came pretty close to nailing a well-rounded machine with few major compromises.
That’s more impressive than it sounds. If there’s anything I’ve learned in reviewing low-end laptops, it’s that compromise is key. Thus, there are laptops in this review round-up that are more portable than the 15.6-inch Dell. There are laptops with touchscreens. There are laptops with faster drives and faster processors.
But the problem with this (if you’ll allow me to borrow a gaming term) min-max approach to laptop specs is that inevitably you’re going to want to use your laptop for a pretty broad range of activities. Thus a laptop with a faster drive might be great—unless you need lots of storage. Or an ultra-portable laptop is great—until you need to watch Netflix on its tiny screen.
What Dell has in the Inspiron 15 5000 Series is an across-the-board contender, with above-average specs packed into a sleek case.
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series doesn’t look like a $500 laptop. It’s that simple.
The model Dell sent us has a brilliant blue diamondback lid that looks like it belongs on a much higher-end machine. And you know what? In the $500 range, you can’t undersell attractiveness. There are a lot of laptops on the market that look and feel as cheap as their sticker price would indicate. Not so with the Inspiron 15 5000. This is one of the most attractive machines we looked at for this set of reviews, tied with the HP 15t Touch.
It’s not all upsides, though. The screen is a cheap 1366×768 TN panel, the same as pretty much every single low-end laptop—and at 15.6 inches, that resolution starts looking a bit chintzy. The viewing angles aren’t great either, so even sitting straight-on you’ll start to see some color washout at the top and bottom of the screen. On the other hand, Dell boasts about its TrueColor calibration, a.k.a. “Hey, we know the display is pretty lackluster, but it’s maybe slightly less lackluster than our competitors. Maybe.” My one major worry is that the screen flexes and distorts if you push it on too hard from the back, especially at the bottom of the screen. So…don’t do that.
The keyboard is a bit more cramped than other 15-inch laptops, and for no real reason. It seems like the likely culprit is a millimeter or two of extra space between each key pairing—over the course of the entire board, those extra millimeters add up to quite a lot of wasted space, with smaller keys the ultimate result. I found myself missing occasional keystrokes, though the switches themselves are satisfyingly clicky—satisfying enough for a $500 keyboard, at the very least.
I wish I could say the same about the trackpad. Quite a few manufacturers nowadays are moving to eliminate separate physical buttons from the laptop mouse, Apple-style. Instead, it’s just a trackpad that “clicks” if you need it, but which you’ll typically just tap on to select things.
Rob Schultz
Dell’s Inspiron 15 is well rounded with a lot of bloatware aboard.
What these manufacturers miss is that Apple’s trackpads are good. They are extremely sensitive, accurate, and well-tuned. The trackpad on this Inspiron 15 5000 is none of those things, resulting in missed swipes and (even more annoying) phantom-clicks. This also makes it damn near impossible to click-and-drag, because the trackpad is determined not to register your finger when you want it to and then spuriously click things you had no desire to click. Hook up a mouse, if you have the luxury of a surface to set it on. (Though as a side note, the Inspiron 15 5000’s trackpad is nowhere near the worst in this set of reviews. Stay tuned.)
As for ports, the Inspiron 15 5000 has power, SD card, a single USB, Ethernet, and HDMI slots on the left, plus two more USB ports and a headphone jack on the right. Oh, and it has an optical drive for whatever reason. Why? Despite “everyone saying” they don’t use them, every PC maker has told PCWorld they get complaints when it’s not there.
The specs
The interior of the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 isn’t quite as glitzy as the exterior, but it’ll get the job done. Under the blue hood we’re packing an Intel Core i3-5005U clocked at 2GHz, Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics, 6GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 1TB 5,400 RPM hard drive.
That hard drive won’t set any speed records, but it ties the Toshiba Satellite C55-C for the most storage space in this set of reviews. If you plan to keep a ton of files on your computer, this here’s your best shot.
And 6GB of RAM isn’t shabby either. Most of these low-end machines have 4GB if you’re lucky, 2GB if you aren’t. That 6GB helps make up for the slower CPU and hard drive…a little. The Core i3-5005U is still very middle-of-the-pack, but hey—at least it’s a real Core i3 and you’re not stuck with an Atom processor.
So how’d it perform? Not too bad, honestly. Only the Toshiba Satellite C55-C consistently outperformed the Inspiron 15 5000, and I’d still say the design of the Dell is polished enough to potentially edge it out on top. The HP 15t Touch is nipping at its heels, though.
In PCMark’s Home Conventional test, the Inspiron 15 5000 scored 2,210, as compared to Toshiba’s 2,527 and HP’s 2,159.
And Dell actually fell to the similarly specced HP machine in both the Creative Conventional and Work Conventional tests—albeit by such a small margin as to be imperceptible. Here, Dell scored 1,933 and 2,436 respectively, with the HP 15t Touch posting scores of 2,000 and 2,485. (Though Toshiba blew past both with scores of 2,198 and 2,771.)
It’s not a bad showing from Dell though. What you have in the Inspiron 15 5000 Series is an excellent balance between design and power. The only question, in my mind, is whether you prefer Dell’s design or HP’s.
Rob Schultz
Dell’s Inspiron 15 5000 comes in a sparkling electric-blue paint.
The bloat
The bad news: The Inspiron 15 5000 is packed full of garbage software. The good news: It’s (for the most part) Dell’s own garbage software, so at least it’s probably safe.
“Not a security risk” isn’t synonymous with “not annoying” though—particularly the pop-up prompt to register your laptop with Dell. It always chose the worst times to manifest its presence.
You also get a McAfee which, let’s just say, isn’t the most loved antivirus app out there. And then there’s Dropbox. Listen, Dropbox: I love your service. I use it literally every day. But the way you’ve infiltrated laptops with garish pop-ups begging me to set up an account and get “20 GB FREE STORAGE” makes me want to uninstall you from every single device I own and never use you again. Please, I beg of you: Find a less obnoxious way to recruit new customers.
The full list of third-party/Dell bloat reads as follows: Amazon, Kindle, McAfee, Dell Shop, Dell Backup and Recovery, Dropbox, Dell Learning Center, Cyberlink Media Suite, and Dell SupportAssist.
The verdict
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series is perfect for our review purposes in that it’s almost perfectly average. It’s ever so slightly better than the by-the-books 15-inch laptop you’d expect to see at a circa-$500 price point, with a marginally better case design and performance than others in this set of reviews.
Does it excel in any one way? Not really. But it also won’t let you down very often—provided you go in expecting the performance of a $500 laptop. It’s a solid all-around machine and thus a solid choice for pretty much anyone in this budget, although it lacks some of the more specialized features found in certain competitors.
Dell Inspiron 15 5000 test and review: productive, but no more than
During the tests, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 did not perform particularly well, and therefore received a final score of only 73.2% out of 100 possible. In laboratory measurements, the tested device turned out to be the most convincing in such separate categories as “Performance” and “Equipment” – this is exactly what we see as its peculiarity, since for its price it offers good, high-performance components, as well as a good configuration of RAM and drive. In terms of laptop mobility, there are not enough stars from the sky due to the characteristics of the battery, which can be considered rather small. Given the performance and equipment, this device turns out to be extremely interesting in terms of cost, but as soon as marks in all other credit disciplines are added to the calculations, the price-quality ratio becomes mediocre.

Transformer Shiny Sides
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is truly luxurious in the configuration we tested. At the heart of the laptop is the Intel Core i7-8550U processor, which has 4 processing cores and with its 4.0 GHz pushes earlier generations of the device into the shadows. Even demanding users are unlikely to find fault with performance. Here we should also mention as much as 16 GB of RAM and a fairly large SSD-drive: as much as 512 GB of capacity. Further, the list of equipment is complemented by a 360-degree hinge and a touch screen, thanks to which you can not only control the laptop with one finger, but it also becomes possible to use the device as a tablet, and quite a large one. In terms of interfaces, here is a standard set for laptops: 2 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0, HDMI output, webcam and SD card reader. The keyboard is equipped with backlit buttons.
What we didn’t like
In terms of interfaces, we missed the Ethernet port and the fingerprint scanner. Despite the fact that Dell endowed its offspring with extra-thin display bezels, and the case is wide enough, there is, unfortunately, no separate numeric keypad on the keyboard. And the rest of the keyboard leaves mixed feelings. The surface of the buttons is slippery and there is not enough feedback from them. The clickpad on first impressions is very good, but due to the too rough surface it can irritate the finger during prolonged use. The display also causes mixed feelings. The resolution and stability of the viewing angles are good, the checkerboard contrast (simultaneous display of bright and dark content on the screen) is excellent. Unfortunately, the touchpad has a highly reflective glass layer, and although the maximum brightness of about 240 cd/m2 is acceptable on its own, it is too dark when combined with the reflective surface. The coverage of the sRGB color space is 62.4%, which means that colors will also be displayed rather faded.
The Asus VivoBook Flip 15 TP510UQ-E8033T is also available for the same use – a large convertible with high performance but limited mobility. With a slightly weaker processor (Intel Core i5 instead of i7 and lower clock speeds), but with a dedicated graphics card, this model from Asus also has enough power, including graphics for those who like to play from time to time. The storage configuration is even more luxurious: in addition to a small SSD, there is also a large classic 1000 GB hard drive. In terms of interfaces, Asus is more generous and even offers one USB Type-C port. Is the display very similar in all respects? but it has an even thinner frame. With a similar battery life, the Asus is overall smaller and lighter.

Use of the credit card reader, mechanism of its operation and scope
A credit card reader is a device that makes it possible to recognize information from cards of different banks. We talk about the features of the choice of such equipment.
How does a credit card reader work? Where is it applied?
The card reader is a separate module that allows you to read data from bank and discount cards, as well as from magnetic stripes.
In most cases, plastic cards are used in the banking sector for settlements without the use of cash, and also as a means of payment when paying for goods purchased at retail. This payment method is used by catering establishments, service companies, railway stations, airports, theaters and other companies.
Such a reader also has an alternative name, however, in order to understand it, it is necessary to understand what types of cards such a device can process.
The magnetic stripe of a card (discount card, bank card) uses a small amount of memory and is manufactured taking into account different degrees of magnetic field strength. It is by the intensity that the low-coercive (LoCo) – up to 300 oersted and the high-coercive (HiCo) – up to 4000 oersted magnetic stripe is determined. As a rule, such a strip is placed 4 millimeters from the edge of the card and occupies 12.7 millimeters. The HiCo card is more expensive, but more secure. Information on such a card is better protected, and the product itself is less susceptible to demagnetization.
Readers may have other names: ID reader, EM-Marin, Mifare, or simply declared by the manufacturer as a card reader.
There are contactless readers – they work using a magnetic type head. The reader receives and analyzes the data, which is then decoded and sent to another device. They can be sent to the system for processing and recognition, decryption.
Types of card readers
Most manufacturers have three types of devices. As a rule, they differ depending on what the magnetic storage medium will be, the way the tracks work, and how the connection is made.
A slot device is a reader that has a separate slot for holding a card for automatic scanning of information.
A motorized reader is a device that is mainly used in multi-cash machines or bank machines. Such a system captures the card and moves the cards inside the device. As a rule, after the transaction is completed, the card is blocked (if necessary) or returned to the owner.
An embedded reader is a device that involves placing a card inside a module. After that, the data is scanned and output to the operator or cashier. Typically, such devices may be limited in storage media.
According to the method of working with the track, card readers are divided into:
1. Devices that simultaneously recognize all characters – both letters and numbers from the first track.
2. Devices that distinguish only the numbers on the second track.
3. Devices that interact with information that can be overwritten – it is placed on the third track.
Also, readers may differ depending on the connection method:
1. Standalone – for desktop and wall mounting.
2. Hardware and software built into the complex.
It is important to pay attention to the fact that most of the modules are connected to the software using various connectors.
Scope of use of card readers
Today, plastic cards are used in a large number of areas. As a rule, devices for their recognition are necessary:
1. To carry out settlement by bank transfer when purchasing a product or any service.
2. During the operation of ATMs.
3. When conducting computer authorization.
4. When conducting operations with discount and social cards.
5. When conducting various loyalty programs in stores and outlets.
Depending on where the device will be installed, the reader can be outdoor or indoor. As a rule, if the device is used inside a building, manufacturers put a lot of effort into improving its appearance and design.
Devices for outdoor use need high resistance to damage, and they must also withstand difficult weather conditions.
Readers with different operating technologies
Data recognition is carried out using two main types of readers – these are contact and contactless devices. They differ in the principle of functioning, and in turn are also divided into different categories.
Universal card reader, contactless
These devices are divided into several types, and such a contactless reader can be used not only in financial or banking work, but also in other areas. Such a module has a simple principle of operation. It works when the card is brought up to a distance of 30 to 250 millimeters. The card ID is in the field of electromagnetic radiation generated by the device. An individual code is scanned, and the data is transmitted to the controller. This action takes no more than a few seconds.
The most common contactless devices operate using the following standards:
1. Emmarine. Such equipment operates at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. It makes it possible to recognize iClass SE and Mifare media and read information from them. The use of 64-bit code makes this standard as reliable as possible.
2. MIFARE. Such a device reads at a distance of up to 100 millimeters and operates at the same frequency as the previous one. The key for gaining access is located on all positions of the magnetic tape (there are 16 of them) – such a tape is a volatile memory. Only indicators that are stored in memory are scanned – codes or card data.
3. HID PROXIMITY – operates at a frequency of 125 kHz and can operate at a distance of 30 to 70 millimeters from the object to be identified. When the card enters the radius of the device, the card sends its own radio signal to it, which has a frequency of 62.5 kHz. After the signal is received, the module decrypts the data, extracts the card access code from them and transmits it to the controller. This system is one of the most popular today.
Proximity smart wave can be called one of the classic examples of such a reader. The devices are actively used in security systems, which enable high-quality identification of goods. Such devices are not so expensive, have an excellent scanning range (6-14 centimeters) and are protected from interference that neighboring modules can create.
The Aiko card identifier has the same principle of operation. Such a module is designed to read information from discount and discount cards, gift certificates and other data carriers. Today, this is the system used to process transactions. Please note that the cashier will need to select the desired item in the online cash register menu, and only then use the reader to scan the data.
Important! There are also readers of a combined type, so there are multifunctional readers. Such devices simultaneously make it possible to identify cards with different technologies. Most often, such equipment has both a plate with a magnetic block and a contactless RFID Card reader.
Features of readers for contactless payment:
1. Have a sophisticated software system, the data cannot be tampered with or corrected.
2. Information is transmitted instantly.
3. Identifiers are very resistant to wear in the absence of contact with the equipment.
4. The data on the ID can be overwritten up to 100,000 times.
5. The database has a long shelf life of information.
Contact card readers
Depending on the model and method of operation, automatic devices can be used that have a motorized transponder, and data has an external and built-in manual feed.
Automatic devices are slightly more expensive, but last longer and make fewer mistakes. Such information requires that the information be read correctly only when the card is correctly placed in relation to the device.
The reader is reasonably priced and can be used in a variety of ways. For example, card readers based on Delphi can work in the access control system of any residential building or public premises in order to recognize keys and access cards to grant access to the premises. Also, such systems are used to work with bonus and discount cards.
If you need a more reliable system, you can use a card reader that has a standard layout. The module of such a device is protected by a compound and placed in a protective anti-vandal case. Such devices are suitable for installation in hazardous locations. Many of these models also have a keypad for changing settings or entering a code. As a rule, the efficiency and effectiveness of work depends on the model and characteristics, many devices can operate at temperatures from -40 to +60 Celsius.
Contact and contactless card readers: making the right choice
Before purchasing a card reader, you need to get acquainted with the models and decide which of them have the functions that your business needs. As a rule, it is inefficient to purchase such equipment as an additional device to a computer, since it has a rather narrow direction.
Purchasing a reader is a procedure in which it is better to purchase a PAC. In this case, the module will immediately be included in the delivery kit. If you use the manufacturer’s offer, you can install software that will suit your business.
The model will need to be selected based on the following criteria:
1. The versatility of the device and its functionality.
2. Technical characteristics of the equipment and the degree of its physical and information security.
3. The amount of energy consumed by the device.
4. Convenience for the cashier and the client.
Slotted modules for installation on a table, which are installed through the port in equipment, are ideal for companies operating in the trade, service.
You can purchase embedded devices separately to replace a failed module. As a rule, initially such equipment is included in the kit.
Before purchasing equipment, you must decide what type of reading will be used. It is divided into manual (the card is held by the client or the cashier manually) and automatic. Manual has proven itself well for retail trade and establishments, while automatic for the service sector and production facilities.
If you plan to connect the device to other equipment, it is better to purchase a built-in module initially.
If you have a small shop or office, a machine that only scans the first two tracks is ideal. Such devices support the Hi-Co tape format – it has a long life and the highest quality. However, it is important to understand that such modules do not provide the ability to write information – they only read information. If there is a recording function, the device will cost much more.
If you choose a card reader, you will need to take into account a large number of characteristics of such a device:
1. Categories to which the devices to be identified belong.
2. The number of tracks that can be read.
3. The speed of pulling the card, if we are talking about slotted devices.
4. Interface for connection to PAK.
5. The purpose of each model, its characteristics.
6. Ability to use equipment not only in one POS system, but also for integration into terminals and other equipment.
Important! If the scanner for reading data has several ports, it must be connected carefully, as it may be difficult to display the device in the general list.
If the connection is made via USB, the steps will be much easier: you just need to connect the reader’s cord, and the drivers will be installed automatically. The manufacturer provides instructions that describe solutions to all problems that arise.
If during installation or use the device stops reading magnetic cards, the problem may lie in the magnetic head, which needs to be cleaned from time to time. If the problem is not in it, it is better to entrust all actions to the service employees – they will be able to quickly and efficiently fix the problem without jeopardizing the device’s performance.
Terminals
Magnetic type card readers can be for contact and non-contact use. They are needed not only in sales and banking, but also in security and other services. As a rule, contactless devices demonstrate the best speed and are more secure.
When choosing a reader, you need to pay attention not only to its cost, but also to other factors that affect the usability. As a rule, putting equipment into operation does not cause difficulties, however, repairs and problem solving should be trusted only to masters who have the necessary skills and experience.

Magnetic card reader – what is it? The reader allows the operator to obtain basic information about the card user, for example, about his purchases, or data about an employee of the organization in access control systems.
Such a reader can be used in all areas where work with plastic cards is provided: in banks, in shops to pay for purchases, at catering establishments and various other payment points for services. Readers can be used both as a separate device and built-in (for programmable keyboards, cashier monitors and other pos-peripherals).
The company’s website shtrih-center.ru presents a wide range of card readers. you can buy a magnetic card reader for working with various cards or a simpler economical model for a certain type of identifiers. We offer devices from the world’s leading manufacturers – Cipher, Posiflex, Zebex and Lab.
How a card reader works
Card readers collect information from a card using a magnetic head. The received data is transferred either to the inventory system used to record financial transactions and sales records, or to the software installed in the POS system.
Types of cards for readers
Card readers can be classified according to the type of magnetic stripes they can read:
High coercivity – HiCo
Low coercivity – LoCo
The most popular today are plastic cards with a HiCo magnetic stripe, since the information in them is less susceptible to demagnetization under the influence of magnetic fields than on LoCo type magnetic stripes.
Types of plastic card readers
Magnetic card readers are classified into:
slotted – to receive data, a magnetic stripe card is passed through the reader slot;
built-in – the card is placed by the user inside the reader;
motorized – in this case, the user brings the card to the input slot of the reader, after which the conveyor automatically captures and sends it into the device, and at the end of data processing, issues it back or, if necessary, blocks it, if this is provided for by the requirements of the system customer.

Storage beds are a great solution for compact living spaces. You get to use your bed space at least twice – as a bed and for storage, but sometimes also as a sofa or a day-bed. The built-in storage underneath a bed is a perfect hiding place for your bed linen, but it can of course also be used for storing clothes or hiding your comic books. Whatever you choose to store underneath or within your storage bed, you’ll enjoy the practical, tidy and organized nature of it. Who doesn’t love to make use of otherwise wasted space?
The right storage bed for the right space
We have a diverse range of beds with storage, and ottoman beds that fit all styles and spaces. Choose between single or double beds, in light or dark colors, with or without headboards, and in modern, sleek designs or classic, elegant styles.
Most of our storage beds have drawers underneath that you can pull out on at least one side of the bed. In smaller rooms, this might not always be possible, because there may not be enough space beside the bed for you to pull out the extra storage. In those cases, an ottoman bed could prove a be a better solution, where you lift the mattress upwards to store things underneath.
Storage beds as room dividers
Some of our storage beds have bookcases and shelving units built into the frame. These units come in varying heights and can provide you with different storage options and styles. But besides their clever storage capabilities, you’ll find they also make excellent room dividers – a room divider that you can decorate with your favorite treasures and trinkets, to boot. If you prefer a different kind of bed, without the big storage frame – but still want to divide your room – we also have a wide selection of room dividers that will match both our beds and your personal style.

REVIEW OF AGE CLASSIFICATIONS FOR VIDEO GAMES (Russia)
playstation. com
Legal information
The following is an explanation of the age ratings and parental controls available for games on the PlayStation®Store.
VIDEO GAME AGE RATING GUIDE
All games available from the PlayStation®Store are marked with symbols indicating the age for which they are intended. Age ratings do not indicate the difficulty of the game. Parents should check age ratings before purchasing games or allowing their children to purchase or download games from PlayStation®Store.
Through age rating verification and parental control programs (see below), parents and guardians can help keep children safe from inappropriate online content or behavior. Parents and guardians should also track their child’s online activity.
Below is an explanation of the specific age rating symbols used in the PlayStation®Store for games.
RUSSIAN AGE RATING SYSTEM (PCPB)
The Russian Age Rating System (PCPB) is the age rating system used in Russia for video games.
The following are the age ratings of the Russian age rating system (PCPB):
Therefore, a game rated 12 contains content intended only for children over 12 years old, and a game rated 18 is intended exclusively for adults. The rating reflects the presence of certain content or the depth of such content, such as violence, nudity or sexual graphics, that is inappropriate for a certain age group. The rating has nothing to do with the difficulty or playability of the game.
Many games are for all ages, however, parents and guardians should check the rating first to make sure it is appropriate for a particular child.
Parental Controls for Games
PlayStation® consoles offer a range of parental controls that allow a parent to restrict access to products with a certain age rating, making it possible to prevent children from viewing content or games that the parents deem inappropriate. As explained above, the games available on the PlayStation®Store are classified according to the Russian age rating system (PCPB). Each age group corresponds to the parental control level of the PlayStation® console as follows:
Parental control level 9
Parental control level 7
Parental control level 5
Parental level 3
Parental level 1
So an application with a 12+ rating means the publisher believes the application has content which is suitable only for those of 12 years and over, and an application with an 18+ rating is considered suitable for adults only. The rating reflects the existence of certain content, or the intensity of such content, such as nudity or graphic sexual images, which may not be suitable for a certain age group.
In addition to the age rating, the PlayStation®Store will also display descriptors indicating the type of content appearing in each application which may concern parents or carers. The age rating of the application reflects the intensity of this content. The descriptors are as follows:
Violence / Crime
Strong Language
Sex / Romance
Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco
Gambling
Online
Depending on the application, there may be a number of such descriptors.
Many applications are suitable for all ages, but parents and carers should always check the rating first to see if it is suitable for the child concerned. To understand what to expect from an application, both the age rating and descriptors should be checked.
PARENTAL CONTROLS FOR GAMES AND NON-GAME APPLICATIONS
PlayStation® consoles offer a set of parental controls to enable a parent to restrict access to products with a certain age rating ensuring that children do not see or play content that the parent considers inappropriate. As explained above, games available on the PlayStation®Store are classified according to the PEGI rating system (except where, by law, another rating system applies) and non-game applications available on the PlayStation® Store are classified according to the non-game application rating system. Each age rating corresponds to a parental control level on the PlayStation® console as follows:
Parental Control Level 9
Parental Control Level 7
Parental Control Level 5
Parental Control Level 3
Parental Control Level 2
So, if your child is 13, set the parental control on your console to level 5. This means that your child will be able to play games and non-game applications age rated 12 and below. In addition, when you set up a sub account for a child on the PlayStation®Network, you will be asked to confirm their date of birth. Sub accounts will not be able to purchase content on the PlayStation®Store which is rated above their registered age. However, once content has been downloaded from the PlayStation®Store to the PlayStation console, children may be able to access the content if the parental control level on the console is not set. That is why it is important to set the console parental controls as explained above.
For more information on parental controls, visit eu.playstation.com/parents.
A GUIDE TO AGE RATINGS FOR VIDEOS
The majority of the videos available on the PlayStation®Store or other Sony Entertainment Network ( SEN ) Store are labeled with symbols indicating the age for which they are suitable. Parents should always check ratings before buying or allowing their children to buy or view videos from the PlayStation®Store or other SEN Store.
By checking age ratings, and using the parental controls (see below), parents and carers can help to ensure that children are not exposed to inappropriate content and behavior online. Parents and carers should also monitor their child’s online activity.
An explanation of the specific age rating symbols used on the PlayStation®Store or other SEN Store for videos is set out below.
BRITISH BOARD OF FILM CLASSIFICATION (BBFC) AGE RATING SYSTEM
A BBFC age rating will appear next to rated videos supplied on the PlayStation®Store or other SEN Store. The ratings are set out below, along with an explanation of their meaning:
Suitable for all
General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children
Suitable for 12 years and over
Suitable for 15 years and over
Suitable only for adults
The rating of the video reflects the existence of certain content, or the intensity of such content, such as violence, nudity or graphic sexual images, which may not be suitable for a certain age group.
Many of the videos are suitable for all ages, but parents and carers should always check the rating first to see if it is suitable for the child concerned.
In the event that a video is not rated, then it is only available to PlayStation®Network or other SEN Store account holders registered with a minimum age. In most cases, the minimum age is 18 years.
For further information, visit www.bbfc.co.uk.
PARENTAL CONTROLS FOR VIDEO
PlayStation consoles offer a set of parental controls to enable a parent to restrict access to products with a certain age rating ensuring that children do not see content that their parent considers inappropriate. As explained above, videos available on the PlayStation®Store or other SEN Store may be classified according to a video rating system. Each age rating corresponds to a parental control level on the PlayStation console as follows:
PARENTAL CONTROL LEVEL 10
PARENTAL CONTROL LEVEL 7
PARENTAL CONTROL LEVEL 5
PARENTAL CONTROL LEVEL 3
PARENTAL CONTROL LEVEL 1
In addition, when a parent sets up a sub account for a child on the PlayStation®Network, the parent will be asked to confirm their child’s date of birth.
Most mobile devices are programmed to prevent the device from operating with other wireless carriers’ networks without first being unlocked. We’re committed to providing you with clear information about unlocking your mobile device.
If you purchased your device from Metro by T-Mobile or if you have a Metro by T-Mobile authorized device, please follow the steps outlined below to determine your eligibility for device unlocking. In order to unlock a mobile wireless device that is not sold or authorized by Metro by T-Mobile, you need to contact the mobile carrier or manufacturer that sold you the device.
Metro by T-Mobile’s approach to device unlocking
Once a device becomes eligible for unlocking (eligibility requirements are described below), Metro by T-Mobile will automatically and remotely unlock the device within two business days if the device supports remote unlock.
Some devices cannot be remotely unlocked by Metro by T-Mobile. In these cases, Metro by T-Mobile will send a notification to the device within two business days of it becoming eligible, with next steps to complete the unlock process.
If you received a notification that your device is eligible to be unlocked, and you need instructions for completing the unlocking process, click here.
Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device’s activation date.
About deploying military personnel
Military personnel who are pending deployment do not have to meet the 180-day requirement described in the previous section. To unlock their Metro by T-Mobile device, military personnel (or family members) must visit a Metro by T-Mobile Store with their deployment papers.
Instructions for unlocking your Metro by T-Mobile device
If you received a notification that your device is eligible to be unlocked, please review these instructions for completing the unlocking process.
Make sure you are connected to the Metro by T-Mobile network or Wi-Fi.
Swipe up on your Home screen to open the Apps tray and follow the steps below:
Newer Samsung Devices (2019 or newer): Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Select Network Unlock
Other Android Devices: Use the Device Unlock app or Unlock app pre-installed on your device and follow instructions on-screen. If you do not have this app, your device is unlocked or it is on a 2019 or newer OS.
Select Permanent Unlock
If you receive an error, please see the table below with troubleshooting steps.
Wait while the device completes the unlock.
If you receive an error, see the troubleshooting section below.
Restart the device.
Contact us at 888-863-8768 if:
You do not see the apps or settings listed for your device. You may need a PIN code for unlock, which Metro’s Care team can provide.
You meet the eligibility requirements but cannot unlock your device.
You have a device not listed above.
If you have an Apple device, once it becomes eligible, Metro by T-Mobile will automatically authorize, and initiate unlock for your device remotely. To complete the unlock on your device, please follow these steps.
Verify that your device is eligible to be unlocked.
Make sure your device is on WiFi.
Insert a non-T-Mobile SIM card into your Apple device and complete the first-time use.
If the device has already been set up, follow the on-screen instructions to sign into your Apple ID.
If you don’t get the setup prompt or if no SIM is available:
Back up your iPhone.
After you make a backup, erase your iPhone.
Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does my phone being ‘unlocked’ mean? A device unlock enables your Metro by T-Mobile device to use a non-Metro by T-Mobile SIM card to connect to a different international or domestic network. This may also be known as a SIM unlock, network unlock, or carrier unlock.
When can I unlock my phone? Your phone can be unlocked when you are eligible for unlock. Please see Metro by T-Mobile’s policy for more details.
What happens if I don’t unlock my device? Nothing! Your phone will continue to work just as it does today.
Why do I have to wait 180 consecutive days? As a pay in advance service provider, this helps us reduce fraud and misuse of service. This is in line with industry standards for pay in advance services.
When does the service requirement (180 consecutive days) start? The service requirement begins from your phone’s activation date. The first day your phone is active with Metro by T-Mobile counts as day 1. Please note that your phone’s activation date is different from your account’s activation date.
Note: For phones under warranty exchange, the activation date is the date you originally purchased the phone, not the activation date of your warranty exchange handset.
Is there a fee for requesting a device unlock? No. We unlock mobile devices that meet eligibility criteria free of charge.
What do I do if I received an error using the Device Unlock app? If you receive an error using the Device Unlock app, review the following table for troubleshooting:

Best Unlocked Phones in 2023: A Guide to Phone Freedom
After years of reigning supreme, carrier-locked phones are now actively rivaled by unlocked devices that can be used across multiple carriers and in combination with different phone plans. More and more customers are starting to see the benefits of that, so unlocked phones are at the height of their popularity and availability. Pretty much any of the best iPhones out there or the best Android phones available come unlocked as well.
First of all, it’s important to outline why it’s important to consider getting an unlocked phone. Overall, it’s rather simple—getting an unlocked phone doesn’t bind you to a carrier or a service, allowing you to switch carriers, change services and plans as freely as possible and as easy as swapping a sim card. Another benefit is that these usually lack some of the extra apps that carriers tend to preload on their locked phones.
So, which is the best unlocked phone out there? Which unlocked handset will get you the clearest phone calls, the best battery life? Should you go for the affordable price tag or go with a premium unlocked iPhone?
Best unlocked phones to consider in 2023:
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra — Likely the most versatile phone of 2023 and one of the best new Android phones.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max — Apple’s most advanced new iPhone and possibly the best all-around unlocked phone to buy in 2023.

Screen is less curved and gets very dim (perfect for night time use)
Camera improvements are there, but not quite huge
Loudspeakers sound much better now

The super-versatile Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung’s update to its flagship lineup, was unveiled in early February 2023. The latest Samsung flagship is building upon all the essential pillars that make for an exceptional and premium phone experience: not only is it introducing a rather noticeable bump in performance that puts it way above its predecessor and on par with its biggest competitors, but also enhanced camera that now weighs in at the respectable 200MP, and could potentially take exceptionally detailed photos.
Truly, the Qualcomm chip inside is a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tailored specifically for Samsung’s new Galaxy S23 series, and truly delivers in terms of performance and efficiency, but what’s more important here is that it has been chosen as the exclusive chipset of choice in all regions around the world. That’s new, as Samsung previously opted to adorn its international Galaxies with the yearly Exynos flavor.
You can get the Galaxy S23 Ultra as an unlocked device straight from Samsung.com, or most all major online and brick-and-mortar retailers. One perk of getting the unlocked phone from Samsung’s own online store is that you can pick among four exclusive colors: Lime, Graphite, Sky Blue, and Red. Honestly speaking, all these look way snazzier and more exciting than the slightly muted and unexciting colors that the regular Galaxy S23 Ultra is available in.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max
The best iPhone with 48MP camera, new design
Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max
With its Dynamic Island punch-hole, improved rear cameras that deliver better picture quality, huge 6. 7-inch OLED display with 1-120Hz refresh rate, and always-on display functionality, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is Apple’s best and most technologically advanced new Apple iPhone and easily one of the best unlocked phones you can buy in early 2023.
The phone includes Apple’s latest A16 Bionic chipset, 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and will be offered in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and the top-of-the-line 1TB storage options. With long battery life, this Apple iPhone is among the best all-around flagship phone offerings out there, capable of rivalling the best Android phones, be it Samsung’s Galaxies or Google’s Pixel phones.
The camera on the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max and its new 48MP sensor may be one of its main selling points. Compared to Apple’s previous 12MP cameras, it has substantially superior detail and low-light image quality since it employs a 1/1.3-inch sensor with quad-binning. There’s a better front camera as well.
Overall, we’d rate the top-end Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max as possibly the best among the unlocked phones available out there. It’s among the more expensive phones to buy unlocked, but worth it nonetheless.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro
Best compact but powerful iPhone
Apple iPhone 14 Pro
The more compact of the latest iPhone flagship phones, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch ProMotion OLED display with a 1-120Hz refresh ratio that allows Apple to utilize an always-on display functionality.
The iPhone 14 Pro also has an improved main camera, utilizing a 1/1.3-inch 48MP camera sensor, which uses pixel-binning to achieve much better light sensitivity. The ultra-wide and 3X telephoto lenses still weigh in at 12MP. The front camera now has a wider, faster F1.9 aperture and autofocus.
Battery life of this one is more than decent, but not as good as the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. Thus, the major differences between the iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 14 Pro mostly stem in the battery size and display real estate. Those two are the best unlocked smartphones right now if you’re favoring Apple’s camp.
OnePlus 11
A return to form for OnePlus, excellent performance and value
8.7
OnePlus 11
The Good
Affordable price
Powerful chip inside
One of the fastest and smoothest phones around
Incredibly fast charging
Great haptics
The Bad
Camera quality a step below rivals, especially video
Display does not get as bright as rivals
OxygenOS makes weird changes to accepted Android gestures
No wireless charging
Throttles quicker than other Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones
The OnePlus 11 was announced in early 2023, and is for all intents and purposes, the company’s return to form, which was a bit lost in recent years. With excellent hardware and the right price tag attached, it’s a very decent phone that should be considered by anyone looking into getting an unlocked Android phone that’s not a Galaxy in the US.
Equipped with a tack-sharp 6. 7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as the latest and most powerful Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the OnePlus 11 doesn’t settle for mediocre hardware. There’s also 5,000mAh battery on board that keeps the lights on for at least a day, though its battery life is fairly average in comparison with some popular rivals.
What’s more, the OnePlus 11 comes with a rather decent camera, which delivers great results in the most common lighting conditions. A decent 50MP main camera joined by a 48MP ultra-wide snapper and a relatively short 2X telephoto camera that measures at 32MP, as well as a 16MP selfie camera complete the OnePlus 11 specs sheet.
While the OnePlus 11 won’t be sold on T-Mobile, which was a long-time partner for OnePlus, it can be purchased as an unlocked device on BestBuy, Amazon, other outlets, as well as OnePlus’ own website as well. Starting at $799, it’s priced very well to compete with the rest of the best on the market.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
The best Android phone from 2022, still very capable, good value
8. 8
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
The Good
S Pen in a flagship, great for creatives
Industry-leading screen quality
Faster charging than before
10X zoom camera is improved significantly
Video recording gets smoother stabilization
4 years of major software updates!
The Bad
Battery life has gone down from the S21 Ultra
You get less RAM than last year
No microSD card slot, no headphone jack
Loudspeaker quality could be better
Jittery swiping, microstutter with gesture nav in One UI
The definitive Samsung flagship phone, the unlocked Galaxy S22 Ultra supports all US carrier bands out of the box. This is possibly one of the best unlocked Android phones out there, so you can bring it to your favorite carrier no matter where you get it from. It’s a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note, a phone that would do much more than simply making phone calls.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (or Exynos 2200), has a 6. 8-inch QHD+ display with the ultra-smooth 1-120Hz refresh rate, a truly massive 5,000mAh battery, wireless charging, some 128GB of native storage, and probably most importantly, it has a built-in S Pen stylus accessory on deck that lets you quickly jot down notes, draw, take precise screenshot, and so much more.
Battery life, while improved, isn’t on par with some other devices, but the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s battery life would still last you a day. The only thing that’s seemingly missing is a microSD card slot.
It’s certainly what we’d describe as one of the best-value flagship among all unlocked phones currently on sale, as you definitely get a lot more in comparison with some of its direct rivals.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
The most advanced foldable phone in the US
9.0
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
The Good
Solid build
Empowering multitasking features
Beautiful displays
Stylus support
Smooth performance
Good battery life
The Bad
Expensive
Still has a crease
Thick and heavy, harder to carry around than a slab phone
The latest Samsung foldable phone, the Z Fold 4, once again pushes the limits of what’s possible on a modern foldable phone. Surely, it’s a among the most expensive unlocked phones out there, but the premium is worth it.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 improves on some of the key Galaxy Z Fold 3 features. For example, it has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a slightly different design, a lightweight build, a triple camera system similar to the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22 Plus, and a slew of multi-tasking features. It also has a new under-display camera, which should be a little harder to spot. It also ships with Android 12L and Samsung’s latest One UI 4.1.1 software.
Aside from having exceptional hardware for a foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 also has a range of software tricks to make good use of its screen real estate. The most beneficial one is a desktop-like dock that allows for quick and easy multitasking by displaying your favorite and recent apps, including app pairs, as a dock at the bottom of the screen. This Android phone also has a pretty good battery life for a foldable, though an iPhone would generally get you better battery life.
Google Pixel 7 Pro

8.8
Google Pixel 7 Pro
The Good
Great deal at $900
Speedy performance, clean software
Powerful zoom camera
Guaranteed day 1 software updates
The Bad
Portrait Mode is bad
Tensor G2 is not as powerful as rivals
Slow-ish charging
Could this be the best unlocked phone for most people? The Google Pixel 7 Pro is powered by Google’s second-gen Tensor G2 chipset, which once again puts emphasis on the user experience and overall functionality instead of raw performance. The Google Pixel 7 Pro is an Android phone still comes with lots of camera improvements including a new telephoto camera, utilizing what may consider the best cameras on Android, and is always on time for the next Android update.
But this doesn’t mean that the hardware is severely lacking; on the contrary, the Google Pixel 7 Pro is an incredible deal at its starting price of $899. And, of course, you can buy this phone unlocked as well
Of course, you can opt for the more compact but still extremely capable Google Pixel 7 instead. Sans for the extra telephoto camera on the Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel 7 will offer mostly the same overall user experience and is definitely among the best value phones right now. Battery life on both is more than reasonable, making them very decent Android flagships.
Google Pixel 7a
The affordable stock Android experience
8.5
Google Pixel 7a
The Good
Good value for money
Stock Android with tons of AI/ML-powered software features
Display finally has a 90Hz refresh rate
Compact and user-friendly size
Face Unlock on board
Wireless charging
Capable camera with lots of features
The Bad
More expensive than its predecessor
Some slight build quality issues
Only a single 128GB storage option
Uninspiring digital zoom
Charges slowly
The Pixel 7a is Google’s affordable flagship for 2023, and it’s definitely a phone that encompasses the best of the Pixel lineup while keeping the price tag decently low and affordable. More importantly, the phone is available as an unlocked device that will work on any of the major carriers out there.
What makes the Pixel 7a such a noteworthy device? Generally, it’s a phone that delivers excellent bang for your buck. It comes with a 90Hz display that feels super-smooth, wireless charging for the first time on an affordable Pixel phone, as well as both a fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock that allow you to unlock your phone however you like.
One of the more important aspects of a modern phone, no matter flagship or affordable device, is its camera. The Pixel 7a is no exception, and this one has a surprisingly adept camera system that punches above its weight, similar to most previous Pixels. It delivers excellent image quality in both good and low-lighting conditions, with very true-to-life colors and the Pixel’s “gritty” and contrast-y signature look.

Are there any drawbacks and limitations to buying an unlocked phone?
Unlocked phones are a bit pricier than carrier-subsidized ones as they need to be paid in full. Many unlocked phones also don’t benefit from the same kinds of sweet deals and discounts that carriers offer for their locked variations.
If you’re after just about anything, that could be your cup of tea, but the best deals, especially around the Black Friday craze, are always found on the carriers, and that usually involves buying a carrier-locked device.
Another drawback is the potentially prolonged service downtime in case your phone needs to go for repairs or another warranty issue. Carriers tend to be a little faster in terms of such repairs, so have that in mind.
Finally, unlocked phones tend to get updated later than their carrier versions in come cases, which could be an unexpected downside of those unlocked devices out there.
What are the best places to buy an unlocked phone?
The best outlets to get unlocked phones are manufacturers’ own websites, which wouldn’t always offer the same deals as the carriers. You can also score unlocked phones on all the major e-commerce and online retailers, like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and more. Have in mind that these retailers and outlets tend to also sell specific carrier-locked versions of the same devices, so being vigilant when buying a new device is always paramount.
For the most competitive prices, we’d recommend checking out Amazon and Best Buy’s offers on the regular.
You can definitely look for awesome door-busting deals during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon’s Prime Day, which are all some of the biggest shopping festivals of the year and tend to give us tons upon tons of excellent unlocked Android device, be it a Google Pixel, a Samsung Galaxy, or an iPhone. Most of the excellent deals on phones we saw during the last Black Friday, for example, were of unlocked phones.
Will my unlocked phone work with all major US carriers?
Most of them would, though you will always have to do your research and act accordingly. Some phones might not support specific 5G bands, for example, which would render it impossible for you to use them as intended on the specific cellular network.
Previously, differences between CDMA carriers and GSM carriers rendered some carrier-locked phones incompatible with the competing network, but these days are now mostly over.
These days, most of the popular flagships and midrange phone devices are compatible with just about any wireless network in the US, allowing for much greater flexibility when it comes to choosing your carrier or wireless service provides.

How do I know if my phone is unlocked?
Unlocked means freedom
If you’re shopping for a new smartphone, chances are you’ll come across the term “unlocked phone”. What is an unlocked phone and how do you know if it’s unlocked? Moreover, you generally0015 want to have an unlocked phone and is it safe to use? We answer all these burning questions that inquisitive minds want to know.
What is an unlocked phone?
What is an unlocked phone? Simply put, an unlocked phone is a device that is not tied to one specific carrier. Typically, when you have a monthly ball and chain contract, the linked phone remains tied to that particular carrier’s network.
Why? Because mobile operators sell phones at a discount. To recover financial losses from subsidies, telecom operators enter into a multi-year contract with customers while tying the phone to their network. This prevents customers from getting a phone at a discount and jumping to other networks without paying the bill. It also prevents phones from being sold before they are paid out.
However, you cannot install SIM cards from competing networks and expect an instant connection. Even if the phone has equipment to support other networks and you have made all payments, it usually remains blocked by the carrier until you make an official request and meet certain conditions.
For example, if you receive a Samsung Galaxy S9 through AT&T, it remains bound to that network until you submit an unlock request. However, you can only send this request to if the device is fully paid for, you have fulfilled the contractual agreement, you have used the device for a certain number of days online, and so on.
Here are the links to unlock requirements for the four major carriers in North America:
AT&T
sprint
T-Mobile
Verizon
Of the four, Verizon is the only carrier that does not block phones, even if contracts and payment plans are not completed. This is due to an agreement Verizon made with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) when it acquired Block C Spectrum. Verizon’s stance on unlocking may eventually change as the company seeks FCC approval for a new policy that will lock devices for 60 days after the purchase.
In addition to postpaid plans and phones, restrictions also apply to prepaid plans and related devices purchased from wireless carriers. These phones don’t have data plans, but carriers still want time and financial investment before unlocking these devices. For example, T-Mobile requires an active account and one of two options: use the device for a year on the T-Mobile network, or spend at least $100 to recharge.
Unlock vs Jailbreak
One of the major misconceptions we see is the term “jailbreak” (or even rooting) is incorrectly associated with unlocking phones. Software hacking specifically refers to software as you remove the phone’s media restrictions in order to install a different operating system or remove/hide unwanted pre-installed applications that cannot be removed. In this case, you “unlock” the phone’s true potential, or “unlock” it from software restrictions, but it is still not unlocked by the carrier.
Phone lock usually starts at the SIM level in order to accept a specific mobile network code. But the other half of that limitation stems from your phone’s International Mobile Equipment Identity Number (aka IMEI). This number is unique to each phone and is used to identify all devices that have access to terrestrial cellular networks, including smartwatches, laptops, modems, tablets and more.
Moreover, all IMEI numbers have associated codes used to unlock the phone. Manufacturers store these codes in a database accessible by carriers and other third party services. It does not allow you to remove the SIM card from the Galaxy S9, which you now buy through AT&T, and use it on the T-Mobile network. The IMEI number is still tied to AT&T, so the only way to unlock the phone is to make all payments, send an unlock request to AT&T, and receive the unlock code.
According to T-Mobile Quick Chat, you can choose this route or allow the carrier to pay up to $650 for the device and a connection termination fee. In return, you must hand over the phone to T-Mobile and purchase a new device through the company.
You can buy unlocked phones
You can get your phone without a carrier at most retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and more. You’ll be paying full price up front compared to a regular carrier contract payment plan, so the prettier the phone, the bigger the bite on your wallet.
For example, you can get factory versions of Samsung Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ3, Apple iPhone 8 Plus, Google Pixel 3 XL and even Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Want an unlocked version of your Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone? You can also get this starting at $999. Gamers can get an unlocked Asus ROG phone for $999.
But before you buy an unlocked phone, you need to check if it is compatible. Wireless networks in North America use two different standards: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) used by AT&T, T-Mobile and several prepaid carriers, and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) used by Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular and several prepaid carriers. Most carriers outside the United States rely on GSM networks, as the GSM Association is an international organization originally created in 1987 year.
Because of these two separate standards, a phone built specifically for Verizon and Sprint may not have the required bands to support AT&T and T-Mobile. The good news is that you can find phones that support both GSM and CDMA connectivity, but you’ll need to dig deeper into the phone’s hardware before making the investment.
Here we encounter step 2 obstacles to compatibility. Although AT&T and T-Mobile provide GSM-based cellular networks, they own and use different radio frequencies. T-Mobile openly provides their list of frequencies here, while you can find three others here along with many other carriers such as FreedomPop, Google Fi, Straight Talk, US Cellular, and more. You need to make sure that the phone’s supported frequencies match the target carrier frequencies.
“Even if your phone, tablet, or mobile Internet device is compatible with carriers, your device may not work well on another carrier’s network,” warns T-Mobile regarding device compatibility.
SIM vs eSIM
Short for Subscriber Identification Module, the SIM card stores everything your phone needs to access a specific network. This data includes your Mobile Caller ID, encryption keys, contacts, SMS messages and more. This is a small physical card that is usually inserted into a slide-out slot on the side of the phone. When you change wireless carriers, you also change SIM cards.
Originally introduced in 1991, new, smaller generations are typically released every six to eight years. Today we have a nano-SIM card, introduced in 2012, measuring just over a square centimeter. Some devices also use a new embedded SIM card module (eSIM) installed inside the device, eliminating the need for replaceable, disposable cards that can get lost or damaged.
Due to the difference between SIM cards and eSIMs, please check if the unlocked smartphone you want to buy includes the latest eSIM and is supported by your wireless carrier. The latest devices with eSIM modules include the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, Apple Watch Series 4, Samsung Gear S2 and S3 smartwatches, and many more.
You will also find phones with dual SIM slots, allowing the device to access two separate networks. This is useful for separating business and personal calls because you will have two different phone numbers. This duality also provides better coverage since you can switch from one network to another after entering a dead zone. You can even use one SIM card locally and a separate card internationally, eliminating costly roaming charges.
Dual SIM phones are usually sold unlocked.
How do I know if my phone is unlocked?
If you’re currently making monthly payments for a non-Verizon device and a carrier, it’s likely that your device is locked. If you paid for the device and submitted an unlock request, the first method to check its status is to remove the current SIM card and install another card from another network.
You can also check the phone’s unlock status by its IMEI number. Just follow these instructions for Apple iOS and Google Android platforms:
Dial *#06#, to get your IMEI number in the popup window.
Go to imei.info.
Enter your IMEI number.
Press button Warranty and carrier . However, you need to create a free account in order to use this particular service.
If you have a cellular iPhone or iPad, there is another way to check the unlock status:
Open settings .
Open cellular .
Open cellular data.
Cellular settings must be present on an unlocked phone.
Again, if your qualified phone is tied to a specific carrier, you need to submit an unlock request. The required information includes the IMEI number of the device, your account number, the social security number of the account holder, phone number, and, if necessary, overseas accommodation documents.
How to unlock your phone with a code depends on the device. After requesting to unlock an Android phone, customers receive a code from their carrier in a text message and a pop-up window on the device. The customer then turns off the phone, removes the first carrier’s SIM, installs the second carrier’s SIM, turns on the device, and follows the prompts to enter the unlock code.
Another option is to use a special application provided by telecom operators. For example, Cricket Wireless provides the myCricket app with an “Unlock device” option on the app’s login screen. Once the app has received the required code, customers must reboot their phone to complete the unlock process.
For iPhone and iPad, Apple provides unlock instructions here.
Other than carriers, third party services can unlock your phone, but this may violate your contract. For Android phones, you pay a flat fee for an unlock code. These third party services have access to databases managed by phone manufacturers that contain unlock codes linked to the device’s IMEI. But be careful: some third-party services may be illegal and work with your money.
Unlocked means freedom
I hope you now have a better understanding of what “unlocked” means for phones and how to tell if your current device is locked to a particular network. With your phone unlocked, you have the freedom to choose the best compatible wireless carrier. Even if you paid for the phone and fulfilled your contacts obligations, the device is all yours and you can switch freely. Call your carrier today if you have met all required obligations.

1. Turn on self-description
If you’re looking for biographical examples from Instagram, the Queen Latifah formula is worth stealing. The best Instagram bios tend to be self-descriptive. Things to add: your positions and the company you own or work for. For example, check out Queen Latif’s Instagram biography. In the first line of your great biography, write: “Actor / Rapper / Singer / Producer. ” When people visit her fan page, they will know that she is more than just an actress and will be able to see her other concerts to learn more about her. Also, this little blue tag appears on her page and people will immediately know that she is famous when she visits her Instagram account. One of the Instagram bio tips that Queen Latifah teaches us is that you can learn a lot about a person from even a small Instagram bio.
2. List your interests
Her Instagram bio is crawled in seconds. You can create a good first impression by connecting with your audience. How can you do it? Share your interests. For example, Paola Antonini’s Instagram biography shares a subtle clue about who she is and what her Instagram is about. In her interests, she shares: “Lifestyle | Travel | Gratitude”. When you see the word “thank you” you get a little intrigued. And after looking at some of the images, you immediately see that you have a prosthetic leg. And most of her Instagram includes images from her life, travels and entertainment that are worth following her, I’m sure her 2. 6 million followers also agree. The best bio will always be one that is easy to read and meets your most interesting interests, so these are two very important Instagram bio tips to copy.
3. Share your contact information
If you are the owner of a fan page, company or public figure, your Instagram biography should include your contact information. Most people write something like “For business inquiries, please send an email to (email protected)”. You can also direct people to your DM to send messages. However, having an email address in your Instagram bio makes it easy for people to find a place to email you. The app company, Color Story, includes their email address in their Instagram bio for ease of communication, making it a pretty cool Instagram bio. The purpose of social media is to be on social media, so making your contact information more accessible is one of those Instagram biological tips to follow.
4. Add a call to action
If you’re a business owner or influencer, a call to action is a must in your Instagram bio. Remember: it has a link that you can include so that users can click on it. Therefore, by sending the request “enroll in my course”, “view my latest blog post” or “buy the trendiest products now”. Tony Robbins Biographical example from Instagram includes the CTA documentary “CTASee”, the emoji finger points to the link below. RIP Panasonic plasma TVs: Reactions from industry experts
The ZT60 is the ultimate Panasonic plasma.
Panasonic plasma is dead. I’d like to take a moment for everyone to express their feelings at its passing.
Next March, Panasonic “will end sales of plasma TVs for consumer use and PDP-related products for commercial use,” in the company’s own words. They’ve been CNET’s favorite TVs for years, and we’re not alone.
Other reviewers, editors, consultants, calibrators, engineers and picture quality aficionados of every stripe have studied, designed, lauded, picked apart, recommended, purchased for themselves and/or enjoyed countless hours watching a Panasonic plasma.
I asked a few industry experts, many of whom I’ve worked with over the years and all of whom care deeply about picture quality, for their reactions at the exit of these flat-panel televisions from the market. I told them I’d like to publish a sort of eulogy.
The response was overwhelming.
I’ve been recommending Panasonic plasma TVs to friends and family since the mid 2000s. Compared to LED and LCD TVs, plasmas (particularly Panasonic plasmas) simply produce a more realistic-looking, enjoyable image. I am undoubtedly sad to see Panasonic leaving the plasma business, particularly in light of the excellent performance of their 2013 crop of plasma TVs. I look forward to see what the future holds for OLED and as yet unimagined technological alternatives, but for now the the TV-buying consumer will suffer for the loss of such a high quality, high value television. RIP, Panasonic PDP. — Chris Boylan, editor in chief, Big Picture Big Sound
Although the confirmation arrived early, I’ve known about Panasonic’s departure from plasma since late 2011. It will definitely be missed in the videophile community, but how much depends on how the Koreans react. Will Samsung and LG continue the progress made with plasma, bringing to market versions that outperform the 2013 Panasonics? Or will they decide to follow Panasonic’s lead and bury plasma forever? Regardless, I hope Panasonic has the will and capacity to succeed at OLED, because it has zero chance of increasing its LED LCD market share. Otherwise, the name associated with “quality at a reasonable price” will no longer be available to future consumers in the display world. — DeWayne “D-Nice” Davis, video system specialist, AV Fidelity
This has been a long time coming, and it shows that plasma is finally going the way of CRT and rear projection. LED-backlit LCDs are much lighter, much more energy efficient, and (in very rare cases) can finally meet the black levels that previously were restricted to plasmas. Why keep a separate infrastructure for one panel type with one big selling point when the alternative can now offer all of the benefits across the board? I’m only surprised that it’s taken this long, and that there are still any major electronics manufacturers making plasma HDTVs. — Will Greenwald, consumer electronics analyst, PC Magazine
Thanks, Panasonic, for carrying the plasma torch for so long, even if in the end it wasn’t as profitable as making car batteries. Countless Kuro-less movie fans who would otherwise have been forced to watch Blu-rays exclusively on LCD screens are in your debt. Now please get to work on OLED TVs, and make them affordable! — Al Griffin, contributing editor, Sound and Vision
I’m disappointed that we, as reviewers, were unable to help keep plasma alive. From outdated notions on burn-in to poor performance on the show floors of big box retailers, it faced an uphill fight for a few years now despite always offering a superior image and value. Now I have to go buy an ST60. — Chris Heinonen, senior editor, Secrets of Home Theater
The only Panasonic plasma I ever owned — a TC-P60GT30 — was the first TV to truly amaze me with its picture quality. Achieving the pinnacle of flat panel picture quality turned out to be the kiss of death for plasma, which is most unfortunate since OLED is not quite ready to fill its shoes. — Mark Henninger, senior writer, AVS Forum
Plasma TVs have been the undisputed kings of flat panel picture quality for years. Panasonic’s exit from the vanishing pool of plasma display manufacturers is another strong signal that new display technologies (OLED, micro-LED) are poised to finally exceed plasma’s quality, if not yet reach its affordable price. Panasonic’s latest/last plasma offerings represented the pinnacle of display design and imagery, the pinnacle of eye candy, and its exit from this space saddens me even as we look forward to amazing new things. — Robert Heron, Heron Fidelity
I’ve spent the best years of my professional career recommending Panasonic plasmas just about everyone, secure in the knowledge that they provide great picture quality and value. I can’t help but feel a sense of loss. Yes, it’s just a TV, but comparing Panasonic and Samsung plasmas was one of the highlights of my job. It’ll be way too long before I can compare Panasonic and Samsung OLED TVs my readers can actually afford. — David Katzmaier, senior editor, CNET
I was sad to learn that Panasonic will exit the plasma business, not just because they make great TVs, but also because the plasma engineers seemed to care about accurate and great picture quality. In the short term, it will leave a void in the TV market place, but I feel confident that OLED technology will offer even more impressive picture quality in the years to come. — Rasmus Larsen, founder, FlatpanelsHD
The end of Panasonic plasma is a gigantic loss for quality representation of film at home. Panasonic’s irreplaceable involvement in this technology created a glassy, lucid canvas that really let quality video shine. As compressionists encoding films for Blu-ray, it’s vital to us all that home viewers can enjoy panels of this quality, without our efforts being compromised. Knowing that our work is watched on Panasonic’s plasmas is a key impetus for us to go the extra mile in the production process. Thank you Panasonic for your receptiveness in listening to and acting on our enthusiast demands, and for holding out this long. — David Mackenzie, hardware consultant, HDTVTest
I believe that Panasonic’s announcement will be the death knell for plasma altogether. LG and Samsung will probably cease plasma production as well in the next few years, in favor of putting resources into the further development of OLED. It saddens me because once again the superior product category is eclipsed by an inferior technology (LED LCD), which is reminiscent of the Betamax vs. VHS story. My hope is that TV manufacturers will quickly ramp up production of larger OLED screen sizes, and reduce the current stratospheric pricing, so that an even better display technology emerges soon after the demise of plasma. — Kevin Miller, co-founder, TweakTV
There are going to be those who try to shape this as a “win” for LCD, or as a sign that plasma has “lost the battle. ” This is stupid. To try to phase it like the technologies were anthropomorphically “fighting” is absurd. The only thing lost is a series of TVs with excellent picture quality and decent prices. That is a loss… for anyone shopping for a TV next year. Samsung (and LG) have said they’ll be coming out with plasma for 2014. But 2015? Beyond? Let’s hope OLED drops in price fast enough that it is a valid option. — Geoff Morrison, privateer writer, Forbes
Pioneer and Panasonic plasmas may leave the market, but the brilliant engineering teams that brought us those reference quality displays remain. I have had the privilege of working with these extraordinary people at multiple companies, and I enjoy the products they sired both at my home and at ISF sessions worldwide. Do yourself a favor. Read the reviews on the current Panasonic plasma offerings, then buy one while you can. Invest in a professional calibration so you can experience the same picture reviewers rave about. Enjoy these delightful HDTVs while you await the next generation of technological wonders from the proven engineers behind plasma. — Joel Silver, founder, Imaging Science Foundation
Display technologies have natural life cycles just like people. CRTs had a nice long commercial life of about 65 years, and I was saddened when this great technology died around 2005. Now we’re told plasma will die at the early commercial age of about 15 years. In my opinion, this premature death is due almost entirely to the industry ignoring, ostrich style, the screen burn-in issue. That was a PR and sales disaster because every TV buyer was concerned about it, even though the issue had already been solved with 100,000+ hour phosphor lifetimes. So plasmas, RIP, but it’s your own damn fault. — Raymond Soneira, president, DisplayMate Technologies
Plasma displays have long represented the best value in high-quality flat-panel television and models engineered initially by U. S.-based Plasmaco, which was later absorbed into Panasonic, were routinely among the best in class over the years. With luck, consumers will continue to find strong values in plasma sets from Samsung and LG, until OLED TVs evolve into more mainstream-friendly products. — Greg Tarr, executive editor, TWICE
First Pioneer, now Panasonic. For those of us who look at TVs every day and care about picture quality, there’s a sense of loss at Panasonic’s exit from the plasma market, and what it portends for the future of plasma. This year, its ST60-series sets were probably the TVs I recommended most to friends who asked for buying advice, and the ZT60 sets we tested were perhaps the best TVs we reviewed short of Samsung’s OLED set. I only hope that Samsung and LG realize there are customers looking for a top-performing plasma TVs and remain committed to the technology, at least until OLED can get bigger and cheaper. — Jim Wilcox, senior editor, Consumer Reports
I am deeply dismayed at the passing of Panasonic from the plasma TV business. Having finally matched and even exceeded the legendary Pioneer Kuro with this year’s VT60 and ZT60, it’s ironic that the leading proponent of plasma technology now finds it necessary to stop development and production due to business concerns. I sincerely hope that Panasonic turns its considerable talents to making OLED TVs larger and more affordable–and flat–because only then will we have a worthy successor to the plasma crown. The king is dead, long live the king! — Scott Wilkinson, director of content, AVS Forum
When I first heard the rumors that Panasonic would be exiting the plasma business, it brought back the same feelings and emotions I felt when Pioneer announced the end of the legendary Kuros. This may sound silly, but being a serious videophile I felt like I had lost someone very close to me. I understand mass merchant retailers promote LCD displays, but specialty stores like mine recommend plasma to most clients, and A/V enthusiasts prefer plasma. The silver lining is that Samsung is committed to plasma and from what I am told, we’ll see new plasma development and products for the next few years. — Robert Zohn, owner, Value Electronics
It’s always made me crazy that the easier a technology is to spell, the more successful it seems to be. Regardless of having the better picture, I guess plasma had 3 too many letters. — Anonymous former plasma engineer
At the moment I’m not confident Panasonic is going to do away with plasma sets, so participating in a eulogy seems a bit ahead of its time…as much as I like to be ahead of time. At best I see the near term future of plasma to be uncertain. — Joe Kane, founder, Joe Kane Productions
With that last note of faint hope, I invite CNET readers for their own reactions in a comment below.
Thanks for all the great pictures, Panasonic plasma. You’ll be missed.

You don’t hear much about plasma TVs these days, and for good reason: no one’s made them for several years. But for a TV technology that was once the pinnacle of picture quality, where did plasma TVs go?
Writing about a much-loved technology that’s been and gone feels like writing a love letter to an ex. You remember the reasons you loved them, and you also remember how they annoyed you. It’s a soul-cleansing exercise.
But what do we recall when we talk about plasma TVs? The technology that made flat screens an everyday reality for you and I originated in a humble lab in the University of Illinois. The potential of what started as an academic experiment to create a display for educational computers became very apparent to TV manufacturers, which had been struggling to find a realistic solution to take over from cumbersome CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) TV sets.
Plasma screens feature millions of cells, filled with gas, sitting neatly between two sheets of glass. When they’re charged with electricity, the cells – or pixels – lit up to form the image. That charged-up gas is called plasma, hence the name of the screens.
CRT models, on the other hand, feature a single tube that defines the size of the screen. The move to plasma technology and its use of millions of cells made it far easier to enlarge screen sizes, while also making them thin – far more slender than normal CRT sets. In addition, the higher definition and refresh rate resulted in a much higher-quality picture.
To understand the lure of plasma and how it managed to conquer hearts and living rooms alike, you must look beyond the pretty screen and deep into the heart of the technology behind it.

Think of a plasma TV as a neon lamp. It’s built on an emissive technology that uses plasma to excite phosphors to emit light.
“The glass is comparable to window glass, unlike LCD. There are horizontal and vertical electrode grids and a phosphor array. The connection between the two is scanned, firing the discharge at the intersection and causing the phosphor to glow,” says analyst Paul Gray, who leads TV research at Omdia, a global firm that provides analysis across the technology ecosystem. “The phosphor side is similar to CRT, while the plasma is a glow discharge like a neon lamp.”
But the genesis of the technology had nothing to do with the entertainment industry. Larry F Weber, a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers wrote the following in IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science:
“As with any invention, it all started with a need. In this case, it was the need for a high-quality display for computer-based education. The University of Illinois started a project in 1960 called PLATO (Programmed Logic for Automatic Teaching Operations) to conduct research on the use of computers for education… The plasma display panel (PDP) was invented by Prof. Donald L Bitzer, Prof. H Gene Slottow, and their graduate student Robert H Wilson in 1964 to meet the need for a full graphics display for the PLATO system.”
The technology evolved fast – literally from lab glassware to the best TV screens – in a very short space of time.
Plasma TVs: the early days

However, as would be the case with any technology product for the consumer market, there was a long period of low-volume but high-cost production.
The first manufacturer to take the dive into making plasma in serious numbers was Fujitsu, making a 42-inch screen in 1997. That screen was selling for $20,000 (around £15,000 / AU$26,000), according to San Francisco Business Times.
Philips and Pioneer followed suit, and other manufacturers piled in shortly afterwards.
“The starters were Fujitsu and Panasonic, but NEC, Pioneer, Samsung, LGE and Chunghwa (CPT) all made the displays,” says Gray. “Most brands had plasma in their ranges. It’s important to remember that in the early 2000s, the PDP [Plasma Display Panel] was in the lead in large-screen TVs such as 42-inch models, and there was serious concern whether 42-inch LCD was economically feasible. Sony and Sharp even worked on a hybrid technology called PALC, Plasma-addressed Liquid Crystal.”
It was the first time that a large TV was available in a form that could be mounted on a wall. This was a huge leap forward from the furniture-piece CRT TV sets that were boxy and heavy, although sturdy. Remember, also, that it was a strange world where small screens and large screens (LCD and projection respectively) were flat, but the ones in the middle (14-inch to 37-inch) were curved.
Plasma TVs: picture quality

Plasma TVs had come a long way since its first iteration. It went on to dominate the consumer market for TV screens and provided one of the best viewing experiences available.
Plasma TVs had panels that lit up small cells of gases (xenon and neon) between two plates of glass, offering very bright and crisp images even on a large screen surface, according to Samsung, which was one of the main manufacturers of plasma TVs. The screens contain phosphors that created the image on the screen light up themselves and don’t require backlighting.
The technology meant that large screens (typically from 42 inches to 63 inches) “offer high contrast ratios, gorgeously saturated colours, and allow for wide viewing angles – meaning every seat in the house is a great one,” according to Samsung, while it worked “well in dimly lit rooms, which is great for watching movies.” It could also “track fast-moving images without motion blur,” making plasma “ideal for watching action-packed sports or playing video games. The sharpness of visual detail is astonishing.”
However, there were some disadvantages. Plasma was more of an electricity guzzler than LCD (Panasonic had got the consumption pretty much to parity, and plasma’s power consumption depended heavily on the amount of light in the video content). It was heavier, with many more power electronics packed in each set. It wasn’t as bright, meaning that to enjoy it fully, you really needed to like your dimly lit, cinema-style watching experience – which wasn’t a disadvantage if you weren’t a fan of daytime telly. Burn-in was an issue, too, especially for avid gamers.
The plasma boom and the new kids on the block
(Image credit: IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science)
By 2005, six million units of plasma were being shipped globally per year, according to Omdia’s data. “The business peaked at 18.4 million in 2010,” says Gray.
But then other technologies started to catch up. LCD screens were lighter and brighter. They consumed far less energy and performed better in daylight.
“Essentially, the fundamental problem was the pace of innovation,” says Gray. “Plasma needed to counter the LCD industry, which had more players working on development. It faced either an uneconomic level of R&D or, alternatively, slowly falling behind. Samsung and LG were only in the PDP [Plasma Display Panel] market as an insurance policy, while the Japanese were unwilling to make big bets. In fairness, they acted rationally – while Korea Inc got its money back in LCD, Taiwan Inc only broke even and China Inc’s chances of ever making a positive return on its LCD investment are slim. ”
The end of plasma TVs
The plasma honeymoon didn’t last, then, and there were some basic factors that had a severe impact on sales – including one of the criticisms commonly levelled at OLED, being low brightness.
“Plasma wasn’t as bright as LCD. Critically in US retailers, the TV area was brightly lit and PDP looked washed out,” says Gray. “Plasma – like all emissive displays – struggled with fine pixel densities. Only Panasonic managed to make a 1080p 42-inch, and even then it wasn’t a great product commercially. Manufacturing yield was reportedly poor. In the end, LCD had massive manufacturing capacity and the advantage of scale. PDP simply wasn’t unique enough.”
As manufacturers started making huge losses, they began to phase out plasma. Pioneer putting an end to the production of its much-loved Kuro screens was notable. When Panasonic announced that it would no longer make plasma screens, everybody knew that the end was near. LG and Samsung followed suit shortly after. And just like that, the light went out on plasma.

The most interesting news
In 2013, Panasonic is releasing a refresh of its iconic Smart VIERA Plasma TVs, bringing superior contrast, rich color reproduction, and advanced smart features
Until quite recently, huge TVs with kinescopes occupied a fair amount of space in the home living room. It only took a few years for flat-panel prices to drop, and the ancient “boxes” immediately began migrating to summer cottages en masse. Manufacturers, in turn, to maintain high demand, now have to update product lines every year, showing more technically sophisticated, smarter models. Modern innovations can boast not only a larger screen size, but also a wider range of features that many users did not even know ten years ago.
Due to the demise of the mass market for CRT TVs, many do not hesitate to call all modern TVs “liquid crystal” (LCD), but this is not entirely true, since a certain part of the home screen market is still and quite successfully held by plasma models. Recently, “plasma” has been significantly improved, its service life has increased, its resistance to fading has increased, and the saturation of colors has noticeably increased.
To those of our readers who have not yet decided on the purchase of any specific model, we dedicate our today’s material about the new line of Panasonic Smart VIERA plasma TVs of the 2013 model.
In 2013, Panasonic’s plasma TV range is represented by three series – VT60, ST60 and X60. The new line received a minimalist strict design based on the concept of “Glass and Metal”.
The new Panasonic Smart VIERA TVs will delight users with excellent picture quality with traditionally high contrast and deep blacks, which is achieved through unique image processing algorithms and the high quality of the Neo Plasma plasma panel. Focused Field Drive technology delivers crisp motion in fast-paced scenes, while the Hexa Processing Engine delivers the finest details in HD video or gaming. In addition, the VT60 and ST60 series models are capable of playing 3D video in Full HD resolution, for which two pairs of active 3D glasses will be supplied.
In the Smart VIERA 2013 line, the manufacturer used the new VIERA Connect platform, which serves as an interface for managing content and applications. Each member of the family will be able to customize the arrangement of elements on the “Home Page” depending on their own preferences. In addition, VT60 series TVs can use the camera to detect the user and automatically offer him a personalized selection of applications and content.
With the Swipe&Share 2.0 function, users can transfer videos, photos and web pages from mobile devices to the TV with the swipe of a finger and vice versa, and with the VIERA Remote 2.0 app, you can turn your iOS or Android smartphone into a remote control or additional screen.
Users will be able to switch channels, enter search parameters and call up the desired application on the screen using voice commands. To do this, just speak the keyword into the microphone of the touch remote control or mobile device on which the VIERA Remote 2.0 application is installed.
Touch pen (TY-TP10E) allows you to write and draw directly on the TV screen. The gadget can be used for games, drawing and creating notes on top of photos and videos. The result can be saved to a memory card or hard drive.
The Twin HD tuner on the VT series allows you to watch or record 2 channels in HD quality at the same time, or record one show while watching another. In addition, thanks to the new Eco Navigation system, users can adjust all of the TV’s energy-saving features, including an intelligent standby system and an ECO mode that changes the brightness of the screen according to the level of light in the room.
Panasonic’s Smart VIERA VT60 series TVs will be available in three sizes – 55″, 60″ and 65″. They are equipped with high-speed Focused-field Drive (FFD) 3000 Hz panels, built-in VR-Audio Stage Pro 2.1 audio system with subwoofer, as well as built-in camera for video calls and facial recognition. Buyers of the series complete with TV will receive two pairs of active 3D-glasses and original touch remote control.
Panasonic’s Smart VIERA ST60 Plasma TV series will be available in 42″, 50″, 55″ and 65″ screen sizes. TVs received Focused-field Drive (FFD) 2500 Hz panels, a built-in wireless module, a VIERA Connect interface with a personal start page, a voice prompt system and are capable of playing 3D content.
Budget X60 models are equipped with 42″ and 50″ screens based on plasma panels without the use of lead and mercury. They support 600Hz Sub-Field Drive technology and are equipped with two HDMI ports, one USB, and received 600Hz Sub-Field Drive technology.
Unlike the VT60 and ST60 series, X60 TVs do not support stereo content, but the built-in USB media player supports a wide range of multimedia content formats, including AVI, MKV, WMV, MP4, M4v, FLV, 3GPP, VRO, VOB, TS, PS, MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, WAV and JPEG.
It remains to add that the new line of Panasonic Smart VIERA plasma TVs in 2013 will hit the shelves of Russian stores in the near future.

The 7 Best Air Purifiers for Pets of 2023, Tested and Reviewed
Within any home with a pet, an effective air purifier can significantly reduce the levels of pet-related dander and hair—along with other aggravating allergens and pollutants—bringing relief to those experiencing symptoms of allergies, which typcially impact the sinuses and irritate the eyes.
“HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters are certified to remove particles that are as small as 0.3 microns, and should remove small particulate matter when properly used and maintained,” Melanie Carver, Chief Mission Officer of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America shared with The Spruce Pets. Particulate matter includes pet dander, mold, bacteria, chemicals from cleaning products, dust, and other items commonly found in a household.
To identify the best air purifiers for pet parents, we’ve tested 47 different air purifiers under a variety of conditions, collecting detailed data in both our New York City and Des Moines testing labs along with sending top-performing models to volunteer testers for long-term trials in real homes.
Our overall favorite air purifier is the Winix 5500-2 4-Stage True HEPA Air Purifier. It’s ultra-quiet, highly effective, and the layered filtration system has a straightforward replacement process. We also found a few others that we like and might be a better fit for your space, budget, and needs.

Built-in sensors automatically adjust for changes in light and air quality to conserve energy
What We Don’t Like
With four layers of filtration—a pre-filter, a washable carbon filter, a HEPA filter, and a permanent filter—built-in sensors detecting changes in air quality, and low decibel ratings for sound even at the highest power level, the Winix 5500-2 4-Stage True HEPA Air Purifier is our top choice among all the air purifiers we’ve tested. The energy-efficient air purifier has a solid CADR (clean air delivery rate) score for dust (243), pollen (246), and smoke (232), and has the top-performing pre-filter for capturing pet hair out of all the units we tested.
“Having a true HEPA filter and a good CADR has been shown to be a lot more effective with reducing allergens,” Allergy and Immunology medical expert, Niha Qamar, MD, told The Spruce Pets.
The sound emitted by the Winix 5500-2 is relatively low so it’s unlikely to interrupt conversations or sleep. Plus, it automatically goes into sleep mode in dark settings—conserving energy and dimming the LED screen— switching back to auto mode in the presence of light.
It’s also easy to set up and comes with a remote for convenient operation from across the room, but does not connect to Wifi for voice command and there’s no mobile app connection for monitoring. When the three layers of replaceable filters require maintenance, a light on the unit’s display lights up, and the process of swapping out and rinsing the carbon filter is straightforward. There are also three light-up color indicators pointing out changes in air quality in real time.
The Winix 5500-2 is suitable for larger spaces, up to 360 square feet, but the device itself is rather big (15 x 8.2 x 23.6 inches) so it might overwhelm a smaller space or a bedroom–which is one of the priority spaces for air purification in a home, according to Dr. Qamar. “I always recommend placement in a bedroom because that is where you spend most of your time and where a lot of dust mites could linger, especially in your bedding.”
For a bedroom, you might want to consider our other top choices, such as the Levoit Core 300s Smart Ture HEPA Air Purifier, our current Best For Odors pick, which received the highest score overall, or our Best for Quiet selection, the Rabbit Air MinusA2 Ultra Quiet HEPA Air Purifier with a streamlined design that’s wall mountable.
Two layers for filtration, carbon filter, and HEPA filter
All three settings produce minimal noise
No lights on device so it won’t disrupt light-sensitive sleepers
What We Don’t Like
The VEVA 8000 Air Purifier is a no-frills device that’s priced affordably and offers reliable air cleansing results. Two internal filters—a carbon filter and a HEPA filter—are relatively low maintenance with replacement suggested every two to three months and every six to twelve months respectively.
In addition to on and off, there are three power settings, all of which emit minimal noise, and did not interfere with conversations during our testing. It also operates with minimal power wattage usage which can help save you money in the long run. It’s also suitable for use in a bedroom setting at night because it doesn’t have a light-up LED display which can interfere with the sleep cycle for some, but it also won’t indicate when the filters need to be changed.
The straightforward design is recommended for spaces up to 325 square feet, but we noticed a diminish in air quality within a room the farther we got from the Vevo device. It’s also not as effective as other air purifiers on our list for collecting pet hair, so if you live with a pet that sheds we recommend using a vacuum for pet hair. You can check out The Spruce Pet’s tested and reviewed selections in this story, The 10 Best Vacuums for Pet Hair.

What We Don’t Like
With the Blueair Blue Pure 411i Max, reliable air filtration is enhanced through the on-demand convenience of a mobile app controlling power settings and monitoring air quality in real-time. After the introduction of common household pollutants in our testing space, the Blue Pure 411i Max noticeably cleared and improved the air quality. It’s also one of the quietest air purifiers we tested, even at its most powerful setting.
The smart Wi-Fi-enabled device allows for voice commands and has an optional child lock to keep settings intact. There are four fan speedings, two power modes—night mode which turns off display lights, and auto mode which adjusts as sensors detect pollutants in the air, and three brightness settings for display lights—off, dim, and bright. With all of these features, this Blueair air purifying system is highly amendable for use in a bedroom with sensitive sleepers and in a living room where it won’t overpower conversations or audio from entertainment devices.
There are five color air quality indicators that let you know when your air quality improves, diminishes, or could benefit from filter maintenance. The external facing pre-filter is capable of capturing pet hair, can be rinsed with water for regular maintenance, and is available in five muted colors. There is also an optional subscription service through Blueair that will send new replacement filters every three, six, or nine months, depending on your needs and use.

What We Like
Removes irritants and odors from the air with three power levels
Built-in sensors monitor air quality and four color indicators keep you informed of pollutant levels from very good to bad
Wifi connected for app and voice commands
One of the quietest air purifiers we tested, even at its highest setting
What We Don’t Like
The Levoit Core 300s Smart Ture HEPA Air Purifier quickly extinguished the palpable aroma of incense from our testing space in under 30 minutes, and even at its lowest—and quietest—setting its air purifying ability was measurable.
Inside the compact air purifier, there are three layers that work together to filter out particles as large as pet hair from the air. A pre-filter where lint and fibers are trapped, a HEPA filter collecting dust, pollen, and dander, and an activated carbon filter which is essential for the removal of odors, like smoke and fumes, that can enter your home.
The Core 300s Smart Ture HEPA Air Purifier is WiFi enabled and easy to set up. It can be controlled and monitored from an app or through the LED display on the top of the device where settings can be programmed and locked. It is also responsive to voice commands.
It has three air intake settings and at the highest, the decibel rating peaked at 58, which is comparable to quiet household dishwasher, so it’s unlikely to disrupt you while sleeping or watching television. For use in a room with a light sleeper, it has a sleep mode that will turn off all display lights and keep the air purification system running as quietly as possible.
Design allows for air intake and filtration on all sides of the device
UV light kills bacteria and germs
Ionizer feature attracts and traps pet hair and pet dander
Features two nighttime settings that adjust illumination to align with personal preferences
Noticably improves air quality in under half an hour
What We Don’t Like
The Bionaire True HEPA 360 UV Air Purifier effectively captures airborne allergens and noticeably improved air quality in under 30 minutes in our testing. The cylindrical shape allows for full 360 degrees of air intake and filtration in a room and a built-in top handle enables portability within a home.
This air-purifying device from Bionaire features six stages of filtration consisting of two pre-filters (one fabric and one mesh), a true HEPA filter, a carbon filter, a UV light, and an Ionizer. The UV light—which kills bacteria—and the ionizer—which releases a static charge to attract particles including pet hair and dander—can be activated in unison with the air intake filters for expedited air cleansing when a contaminate is present, such as a pet or smoke.
There are three air filtration power settings, and while the highest level produces significantly more noise and makes it difficult to maintain a conversation, the other two settings are sustainable for everyday use—even while sleeping. For use in a bedroom, the purifier has a night-light setting for visibility in low light and a night mode setting that turns off all display lights. There is also an eight-hour timer setting to maintain the filtration process for an extended duration of time.
To maintain functionality, the UV light, and layered filters should be replaced annually (on average), but the process is straightforward and the total cost for replacements is under $100.

Quickly clears fine particulate matter
Elongated design with a small footprint for use as a floor fan
What We Don’t Like
In our various effectiveness tests, this air purifier from Dyson was exceptionally efficient with clearing air pollutants–including smoke–and significantly improved the air quality in our testing space.
The Dyson Purifier Cool TP07 Smart Air Purifier and Fan was previously our Best Overall choice because of its powerful filtration capabilities, cooling effects, and quiet operational experience. But with a price that’s nearly double our latest Best Overall, the Winix 5500-2 4-Stage True HEPA Air Purifier, we decided to find a new spot for this one on our list.
While it is a larger unit, its footprint is relatively small, making it a great floor air purifier that won’t take up too much space in your home. It also emits minimal noise with low decibel readings even at the highest power level so it’s suitable for use in a bedroom and is unlikely to interrupt your favorite tv show. Aside from its quiet operation, this purifier also has smart capabilities with a user-friendly app that connects to Wi-Fi to control the purifier. The app has the same capabilities as the magnetized remote that comes with the purifier and tracks the room’s air quality over time. The top of this purifier also oscillates to evenly move air and clean it while the unit is in use. This purifier will automatically sense changes in air quality and react to best clean the air, and then reports changes directly to the linked app and the control panel. Backward airflow mode allows you to use the purifier alone without a cooling effect as well.

Final Verdict
Our top pick is the Winix 5500-2 4-Stage True HEPA Air Purifier which has a powerful filtration system able to collect pet hair and pet dander. It also emits low sound levels and features built-in sensors that automatically adjust to optimize air quality, dim the display lights, and conserve energy. For anyone looking for a purifier under $100, check out the VEVA 8000 Air Purifier which can filter up to 325 square feet, has a true HEPA filter, and three air speeds.
The Spruce / Katie Begley
Hamilton Beach TrueAir Air Purifier:This air purifier was previously our best budget pick based on home testing and research, but after testing in The Lab, we determined there were better-functioning options available at this price range. While we were impressed with the whisper and quiet settings available on this air purifier, which registered a 48.1-decibel reading, its filtration capabilities were not strong on the lowest setting, which still registered 275.7 PM 2.5 after five minutes in the zipped greenhouse.
Pure Enrichment PureZone: We included this purifier as our previous best portable pick but found better options after additional testing in our Lab. While this air purifier is lightweight and has a handle for easy transport, it did not perform well in our greenhouse PM 2.5 test. After running on its lowest setting for five minutes, the purifier measured 829.2 PM 2.5, compared to the 999.9 level prior to turning on the purifier.
We tested 47 air purifiers across our labs in Des Moines and New York City putting them to the task of tackling pet dander and odors. First, we studied their setup, considering any additional parts that had to be added to the purifier, and we timed the process of getting the purifier out of the box and running.
Then we considered the design of each air purifier, looking at features like oscillation, type of filters included, timed settings, smart capabilities, and color options. Next, our testers measured the noise level of the air purifiers on their highest and lowest settings using a decibel meter. Our testers also evaluated all of the features available on the air purifiers and took time to evaluate their ease of operation and accessibility, especially if an app was available.
To test effectiveness, we set up zippable indoor greenhouses and burned incense, and released artificial pet hair to simulate a polluted air environment, then measured the PM 2.5 (particulate matter) in the air prior to turning on the air purifier and after having the air purifier on for five and 10 minutes. This test was run initially with each air purifier at its lowest setting and then again with the air purifier at its highest setting.
Some air purifiers we tested had VOC (volatile organic compounds) filtration capabilities, so we conducted a similar test using the greenhouses and releasing moth balls in the chambers for 15 minutes before measuring the level of VOC gasses in the chamber and turning on the air purifier. Between tests, we also made sure to air out the tents using fans for five minutes before moving on to different purifiers.
With all of these previous evaluations and tests in mind, we then asked our testers to look at the price of the air purifier and assess its overall value. We then narrowed down our top performers and sent each one to a tester for use in a real home with real pets for continued evaluation over the course of several months with periodic check-ins on ease of use and filtration maintenance needs.
The air purifier space has scientifically proven features to consider and technology-based enhancements that you may or may not find useful (app control, voice commands, remote control) along with extraneous attributes added by manufacturers in an effort to differentiate their products.
Key Terminology
HEPA: The U.S. Department of Energy set the definition and standards for HEPA filtration, which stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, HEPA certification is given to filters capable of removing at least 99.97 percent of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns.
CADR: Stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate and is a score calculating how quickly an air purifier is able to remove contaminants, such as dust, pollen, and smoke, from the air in a room. The CADR of your air cleaner should be equal to at least two-thirds of the room’s area. For example, if your room is 100 square feet (10 feet x 10 feet) a minimum CADR of 67 is needed.
Some manufacturers provide three categories for their CADR, such as our Best Overall choice, the Winix 5500-2 4-Stage True HEPA Air Purifier with a CADR of 243 (dust), 246 (pollen), and 232 (smoke). Others offer an average score, like VEVA 8000 Air Purifier with a CADR of 120, while some air purifier manufacturers do not provide CADR ratings for their models.
Activated Carbon Filter: These filters use activated carbon (also called activated charcoal) to filter out odors, such as the smell of smoke, and gases, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released from household products, from the air in a space. They cannot remove fine particles like mold, dust, or pollen from the air so should be used in conjunction with a HEPA filter.
Pre-Filter: Often thefirst filtration layer capturing larger airborne particles including pet hair and dust. It should be noted that an air purifier is not designed to be as powerful as a vacuum for the removal of pet hair from a space.
UV Light: Select air purifiers, like the Bionaire True HEPA 360 UV Air Purifier (our Best for Allergies selection) have an internal chamber with a UV light to kill airborne bacteria.
Strength
Some air purifiers are more powerful than others, and just how much power you’ll need will depend on the size of the room, how many pets you have, and what, if any, allergies your family members experience. Most air purifier product descriptions include a recommended cubic footage, indicating whether it’s appropriate for large or small rooms.
“Filters are also marked with a CADR (clean air delivery rate), which describes the cubic feet per minute of airflow through the device,” Dr. Payel Gupta, President of the New York Allergy and Asthma Society, told The Spruce Pets. “Be sure to match the filter’s CADR with the size of the room where you plan to use the filter. ”
Be sure to check the coverage area to be sure it meets your needs.
Cooling Features And Design
Besides cleaning the air, some air purifiers come with additional features, including odor and temperature control. Most also have multiple fan settings, so you can crank it when you’re out of the room, or use a quieter setting at night. You may also want to consider the look of the air filter if it’s going to be in a visible spot. Some come in a variety of colors, so you can choose one to complement your decor.
Sound Levels
While some love the white-noise hum of typical air purifiers, others are annoyed by it. Fortunately, there are machines that are ultra-quiet and others that allow you to adjust the volume. On some models, you can preset runs to operate at different volumes during different times of the day.
FAQ
Most air purifiers work in one of three ways, and some utilize all three modes of cleaning the air:
High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter: These are pleated mechanical filters that work by forcing air through a very fine mesh to remove pet dander, dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and other airborne particles. HEPA filters are the gold standard.
Activated carbon filters: These work to remove odor from the air by absorbing it.
UV filters: These use lights to inactivate germs and bacteria. They’re often used in conjunction with HEPA filters.
When it comes to removing pet dander, an air purifier with a HEPA filter is your best choice. It filters the air and can remove tiny particles as small as 0.3 microns. For reference, pet dander is usually between 5 to 10 microns, so HEPA filters are good at clearing it from the air.
Yes, but not completely. If you have pet hair floating around your room, HEPA filters can remove them. Unfortunately, as most pet owners know, that hair is more likely to get lodged on your clothing, bedding, carpet, or sofa. That’s why you may still want to invest in pet hair removers, like a vacuum for pet hair. Check out the top tested and reviewed vacuums for pet hair by The Spruce Pets.
The closer air purifiers are to the source of the pollutant, the more effective they are. In the case of your pooch, keep it close to their bed, crate, or wherever else they spend the most time. Have a cat? Place it near their litter box to help clear the air of unwanted odors.
Always follow the instructions in the owner’s manual for your specific air purifier. Some have permanent or reusable filters that can be vacuumed or washed with soap and water. Others have replaceable air purifiers that should be swapped out every few months. Your air purifier may have a special light to tell you when it’s time to replace the filter; otherwise, keep an eye on it after three months of use.

1. Levoit Core P350 Pet Care Air Purifier
BEST OVERALL
Amazon
What more can we say? Levoit’s Core P350 Pet Care air purifier has “pet” in the name, and you really can’t go wrong with the superior filtration performance of this choice.
Using a special h23-Grade True HEPA Filter, it reduces up to 99.97 percent of the harmful air pollutants pet owners are most concerned about, like pet dander, pollen, dust mites, and other allergens in rooms up to 219 square feet. While you won’t sweat the small stuff with this purifier, Levoit also claims their fabric pre-filter is more effective than others at capturing larger things, like floating hair and pet fur.
What we like: Levoit added an extra “AirReComposition” formula to their activated carbon filter, which boosts the odor-busting power for super-strong pet odors, like accidents on left on the floor. It also has a special “Pet Lock” to make sure your furry friend doesn’t accidentally mess with any of the settings by touching the buttons, or bumping into the air purifier.

While other air purifiers only remove particles larger than 0.3 microns, this model has a medical-grade h23 True HEPA layer that filters out 99.99 percent of airborne particles larger than 0.1 micron. You know you’re getting the cleanest air possible, since dander, bacteria, and germs won’t stand a chance.
Not only will this help you breathe better by reducing allergens and asthma triggers, you also won’t have to hold your nose around pet messing, since it also includes a patented molecular conversion powder to eliminate heavy pet odors. For a purifier of this size (it cleans air in bigger rooms up to 1,300 square feet), it’s still easy-to-use. An air quality sensor light displays the quality real-time, and a laser smart sensor detects airborne particles and self-adjusts to better filter air for a truly hands-off system.

3. Blueair Blue Pure 211+ Air Purifier
BEST FOR PET HAIR
Amazon
While you may still need to keep a couple lint rollers on hand for pet hair stuck to your clothing and carpet, this air purifier from Blueair works twice as hard to filter out pet hair floating in the largest spaces — all with less energy usage than you’d think.
The grey fabric in the bottom half isn’t just for show. It’s actually your first line of defense against pet hair, a fabric pre-filter that’s designed to catch all the pet fur, dust, and larger particles in the air around your home. You can toss it in the washing machine and let it air dry to clean, so it’s quite the sustainable solution (still, you can always purchase some if you want a fun color to match your decor).
This is all while being Energy Star-rated for low energy consumption, and no louder than a whisper on the lowest speed (31 dB). The filter itself is also pretty solid, with both electrostatic and particle filtration used to remove 99.97% of airborne pollutants like pet dander, dust, mold, etc in spaces up to 540 square feet.

4. Instant HEPA Quiet Air Purifier
BEST FOR SMALL SPACES
Amazon
When you’ve only got a small space to purify, you want your air purifier to work smarter not harder — Instant’s HEPA Quiet Air Purifier (yes, that Instant, of Pot fame), combines a HEPA-13 filter with “Plasma Ion Technology” to create a one-two cleaning punch if you have pets in smaller spaces, like tight apartments or bedrooms.
The HEPA filter captures 99.97% of dust, pollen, smoke, mold, and other ultra-fine impurities, while the “Plasma Ion” tech projects positive and negative ions into the air to help you (and your pet) breathe a little easier. It’s got a pretty speedy exchange rate too, filtering up to 630 square feet per hour, pumping out 126 square feet of fresh air five times per hour, so your room will drop the dander in minutes.
This is also the rare compact air purifier built to last — when in eco-mode, the purifier cycles the fan on and off every 10 minutes, and if good air quality is detected for 30 minutes, it drops the energy consumption to 50%. Not to mention the air filter can last up to 12 months, so you can think more about refilling your pet’s food dish than replacing the filter.
Right now, there’s a major discount on the Instant HEPA Quiet Air Purifier, dropping the price down to under $100 for the first time this year.

Small, but versatile, the TrueAir also comes with two replaceable carbon filters to target pet odors, plus a pre-filter for pet hair and larger particles. Can An Air Purifier Help With Pet Hair and Dander?
To start, most air purifiers will suck up common airborne contaminants, and help get rid of unpleasant odors too. The fan takes in air in the room and pushes it through the filter, where most of the allergens are either trapped or removed entirely. Investing in an air purifier specifically designed for pets has its benefits, but ultimately isn’t necessary if you know the right features to look for.
If your major issue is smaller pet hairs drifting around, you’ll want to get a fine mesh filter that traps these hairs in without getting stuck. While this won’t get the hair that’s lodged in your carpet or sofa (try a handheld vacuum for that), but it’s a place to start. For reducing pet dander, air purifiers can be very effective devices, especially those with a HEPA filter. This kind of filter clears the air and removes super tiny particles, as small as 0. 3 microns, which is smaller than pet dander (5-10 microns) on average.
How We Chose the Best Air Purifiers for Pets
When shopping for the best air purifier for pets online, there are a few things to keep in mind. We chose our list of the best air purifiers for pets based on filtering capabilities, odor removal, and design. Here’s what you need to keep in mind.
Filter: Air purifiers with HEPA filters deliver the best results when trapping smaller particles like dander and dust. Excess shedding and pet hair your main problem? We added air purifier picks with a pre-filter that picks up large particles, since they’re often washable too.
Size: Consider the size of the room you’re parking your air purifier in, and how much time your pets actually spend in that room. We chose purifiers ranging in capacity from 150 square feet to 1,000 square feet or more. If your pet likes to run around in bigger rooms and living spaces, obviously, you’ll need a larger air purifier to work effectively.
Noise: Pay attention to how loud your air purifier is, since noisy models can actually scare some pets and do more harm than good. Many of these air purifiers have a “sleep” or “quiet” mode, or at the very least operate at a decibel level similar to white noise.
Odor Removal: Worried about odor? Plenty of these air purifiers come with a carbon filter (or an odor control setting), which is specifically meant to trap particularly pungent smells. The closer your air purifier is to smelly areas (think: t

HEPA Pet Air Purifier uses multiple air purification technologies to eliminate dandruff, hair, odor and pet odor’ In the multiple air purification technology, the pre-filter layer is mainly filters hair and pet hair, as well as other small substances that can be seen with the naked eye. Where will the HEPA pet air purifier always be used?
As we all know, keeping pets such as cats and dogs can make a family happier and also take care of the inconvenient elderly and the disabled. However, dander, hair, and pet smell are things that many people don’t like, especially if there are allergies at home. And asthma patients.
If family members are allergic to pets, buying an air purifier can effectively improve their living environment and protect their health.
Asthma is a respiratory disease. Hair and dandruff in the air can trigger asthma. Pets often walk around the house. There will be wool and pet hair all over the house, which will make asthmatics feel like they can’t breathe. Smooth, causing asthma symptoms. At this time, if there is an air purifier in the living room or bedroom, the condition of asthma patients can be effectively improved.
There is another situation where family members pay great attention to the health of the home environment, especially if there are children and newborns at home. At this time, it is necessary to monitor the air condition in the house daily in real time. If pet hair and dander are inhaled by children and newborns, it is easy to cause illness, and the smell of pets is sometimes unbearable, so you will need an air purifier.
Benefits of the BackNature KJ450F-A039Lite UV Room Air Purifier
In many of the situations above, there are already pets or families with children at home who have specific air quality requirements. They all need HEPA air purifiers. Now let’s look at some of the features and benefits of this BackNature KJ450F-A039Lite air purifier.
High Removal Rate
Many air purifiers on the market are designed to remove pet hair, hair and odor from the air, but many are not clean or use h23 HEPA filters. KJ450F uses h23 HEPA filters which can filter 99.97% pets. From dandruff, hair and odor, there is a layer of activated carbon behind the HEPA filter, which additionally absorbs and purifies the air, thereby protecting you from harmful substances from pets.
PM2.5 Display
Dander and pet hair are in the PM2.5 particle range. KJ450F has PM2.5 air concentration monitoring and it is displayed on the panel PM2.5 display. You can know the air quality at home in real time.
3 Speed control
The air purifier has three wind speeds that can be adjusted. If the air quality is excellent, you can select a lower wind speed to reduce energy consumption, save electricity and further reduce noise. When there are too many particles in the air and the air quality is bad, you can use three. The wind speed is adjustable to increase the air filtration rate and purify the air at high speed.
Summary
Households with pets need an air purifier to remove pet hair, hair and odor. If there are allergy and asthma patients at home, they will also need an air purifier to protect their health. KJ450F-A039Lite will be a good choice for you.

Animal Hair Cleaner
Every pet owner’s nightmare: a partner or child is allergic to a beloved four-legged friend. If you are a pet owner and you or another member of your family suddenly develops an allergy, we will do our best to get it under control quickly. Of course, a pet cannot simply be abandoned, and effective countermeasures must be taken to minimize the spread of irritating particles. For this reason, buying an air purifier is the first and smartest decision.
What causes allergies?
Animal dander allergy symptoms are caused by airborne protein particles and not by skin contact with animal dander. This means that the real bad guys are the protein-containing components of saliva, sweat, sebum, or urine from cats, dogs, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
Irritating proteins stick to animal hair and thus reach even the most remote corners. Pet owners know that their pet’s fur adheres exceptionally well to all kinds of fabrics and surfaces. They also float in the air of the room, where they are evenly distributed throughout.
Air purifiers help fight pet allergens.
PuraLuft air purifiers with particulate filters, specially designed for allergy sufferers, provide relaxation and allow you and your pet to live happily under the same roof.
