How to add Apple Gift Cards to your wallet

Apple Wallet is a free app preinstalled on all modern iPhone models. It can be used to add debit and credit cards, store membership cards, and pay for online and offline purchases. It can also be used to redeem credit from Apple Music, Apple iTunes, and the App Store gift cards, but the process can be a little confusing, depending on exactly what you want to do with your gift cards and where you want to spend your account. balance. We explain.

Here’s how to add the App Store and iTunes Pass to the Wallet app on your iPhone:

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone, then click on the profile picture of your account in the top right corner.

  4. Unlock your iPhone and open the App Store app .

  5. Tap account profile picture > Redeem Gift Card or Code > Use Camera .

How to shop with an Apple Gift Card

May 8, 2021
Matt Mills
How to enroll

For all Cupertino fans, one of the best gifts you can give them is an iOS product, app or anything related to the brand. However, in many cases this is difficult to accept along with the product itself. So, one of the best options when you can gift something with an apple stamp and not fail is to do it through an Apple gift card. In this post, we will explain everything you need to know about Apple Gift Cards.

What are Apple Gift Cards and what are they for?

How to become a family…

Please enable JavaScript

How to become a family lawyer

Apple Gift Cards are really the best way to give something from Apple, but allow the person concerned to really choose what they want with the installed you budget. This is a series of cards of different economic value that you can buy to give to another person who can exchange this card for different products, applications, songs, ringtones depending on the economic value of the card.

These cards have typically been used primarily to purchase apps from the App Store, but can also be used, depending on the type of card, to purchase company products. As we said earlier, this is a great way to give someone something from Apple as a gift. It’s also a very convenient way for Apple family members to purchase or make in-app purchases without being a family organizer who receives payments from their card. Thus, any family member can purchase gift cards from the App Store or iTunes and use their balance to do so, without using the family organizer as an intermediary for payment.

There are these types of Apple Gift Cards.

The range of Apple Gift Cards is larger than we think, in fact there are up to 4 different types of cards that are obviously intended for different purposes and audiences. In addition, each type of card can be purchased with a different amount of money inside. Here we will show you what they are and what they represent for each of the 4 existing Apple Gift Card models.

Apple Gift Card

These types of cards have the peculiarity that they are only available in the United States. It differs from the rest in that it has the Apple logo on a white background on the side of the card, this logo has a different design. With them, you can buy almost everything, from groceries or accessories to apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, or iCloud storage. However, as we have already mentioned, unfortunately this type of card is only available in the United States.

Apple Store Gift Cards

Apple Store Gift Cards are easy to identify because their appearance is very specific. They are solid grey, white, silver or gold on the front and the following information can be found on the back.

  • A link that redirects you to a site where you can check your card balance.
  • Text telling you that this card can only be used in the Apple Online Store or App Store.
  • A telephone number you can call if you need assistance with any aspect of the card or the use of its economic value.

These gift cards can be used in almost any country or region in both the Apple Store and apple.com, however in Germany, France, Singapore and Switzerland these types of cards can only be used in Apple Stores and not online .

App Store & iTunes Gift Card

Aesthetically, these are very recognizable cards as most of them are blue and have a design on the front. On the other hand, on the reverse side, you can find information related to the card, this is the following.

  • 16-digit activation code starting with X.
  • Text indicating that the card can be used for apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, books, and iCloud.

In addition, these types of cards can also be received by e-mail, which means that you can redeem the card in the App Store and iTunes Store. This card is likely to be the most suitable for making these App Store purchases as a family without having to always pay the family organizer, and thus each family member can have independence when making this type of purchase.

Old Gift Cards

Finally, we need to talk about old Apple Gift Cards. The fact that it is old does not mean that it has lost its value, that is, if you have a card of this type, you can continue to use it without any problems, for this you just need to follow the steps indicated on the back the card itself. Some examples of such cards are Apple Music Gift Cards or iTunes Store Gift Cards.

So you can buy 9 of them0011

Buying an Apple Gift Card is very easy, no matter what type of card you want to purchase, you can do it directly from Apple’s own website where you can get, depending on where you live, two or three types of cards. As we mentioned earlier, the Apple Gift Card is only available in the US, so if you live outside of the US, such as Spain, you can only purchase an App Store & iTunes Gift Card and/or an Apple Store Gift Card. Another way to purchase these cards is to go to a physical store i.e. Apple Store.

How to use them?

The way to redeem these cards is very simple. First of all, you need to make sure how much money is on the card, and based on this, ask yourself what you want to buy with this money. Obviously, depending on the type of card, as we explained earlier, you can purchase one or another type of product.

Redeem your App Store gift card

The steps to redeem an App Store gift card are very simple. First of all, we will show you the steps to follow on both iPhone and iPad.

  1. Open the App Store app.
  2. Click your username.
  3. Click Redeem code or gift card.
  4. Enter your card details to use it.

On Mac, the steps are very similar, we will explain them below.

  1. Open the App Store app.
  2. Click your Apple ID.
  3. Click Activate Gift Card.
  4. Enter your Apple ID.
  5. Enter your gift card details.

In this simple way you can use your Apple gift cards, all you have to do is enter your Apple ID balance as a payment method when you are going to make any purchase, and that’s it.

Do these cards have any restrictions?

One of the most outstanding points of these cards is that they do not have an expiration date, meaning the user can use them any time they wish, however, if the Cupertino company itself reserves the right to change at any time the type of purchases and operating shops where you can exchange these cards, i.e. always giving sufficient notice.

I didn’t receive the gift card I paid for. What to do?

Once the payment is confirmed, please make sure to recheck all your inboxes (spam, promotions, socials, or other folders), if you have received a gift card. If you haven’t received gift cards, please contact us directly and our customer support agents will check your order.

I paid for the gift cards, but CoinGate didn’t accept the payment.

What should I do?

One of the most common reasons why the payment was not accepted is that CoinGate received money after the invoice expired. In such situations, we can either refund your payment or accept the order, if possible.
If such a situation occurs, please contact the support team and they will check your order.

My redeem code is not working. What should I do?

In case redeem code is not accepted at the online store, please contact the store directly and they will be able to assist your inquiry. If the store didn’t resolve the issue with code in the first place, please contact our support here.

Can I purchase the gift card if I’m not from the selected region?

In-store gift cards can be only redeemed in the selected regions. For gift cards that can be redeemed online, you still might be able to purchase goods with gift cards even if you are not in that country if the brand supports it. Please refer to Redeem instructions and Terms and Conditions of the particular brand in each case.
We would also advise using a VPN with the location matching gift cards region once you are redeeming the online gift card.

How to shop with an Apple Gift Card

For all Cupertino fans, one of the best gifts you can give them is an iOS product, app or anything related to the brand. However, in many cases this is difficult to accept along with the product itself. So, one of the best options when you can gift something with an apple stamp and not fail is to do it through an Apple gift card. In this post, we will explain everything you need to know about Apple Gift Cards.

What are Apple Gift Cards and what are they for?

How to become a family…

How to add Apple Gift Cards to your wallet

Apple Wallet is a free app preinstalled on all modern iPhones. It can be used to add debit and credit cards, store membership cards, and pay for online and offline purchases. It can also be used to redeem credit from Apple Music, Apple iTunes, and the App Store gift cards, but the process can be a little confusing, depending on exactly what you want to do with your gift cards and where you want to spend your account. balance. We explain.

How to add the App Store and iTunes Pass to the iPhone Wallet app

The App Store and iTunes Pass, sometimes referred to as the iTunes Pass, is an official Apple digital membership card that can be added to the Wallet app. Once added, your account balance is displayed, which includes the funds added from the gift card. You can add funds to it, and then use those funds to pay for purchases at Apple Stores and select retailers, as well as the App Store, iTunes Store, or Apple Books.

The App Store and iTunes Pass are completely different from the iTunes Season Pass, which simply gives you access to all episodes of a TV show season on iTunes.

Here’s how to add the App Store and iTunes Pass to the Wallet app on your iPhone:

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone, then click on the profile picture of your account in the top right corner.

  2. Press Redeem gift card or code .

  3. Under iTunes Pass, click Get Started .

  4. Enter your Apple ID password, then click OK .

  5. Click Add iTunes Pass to Wallet .

  6. Click Add .

  7. Press Done . The App Store and iTunes Pass now appear in the Wallet app.

How to add money to your Apple Store 9 gift card wallet0011

Once you’ve created your digital App Store and iTunes Pass, you can now use the iPhone Wallet app to add funds to your iTunes or App Store account the next time you visit a physical Apple Store.

This method is really useful if you prefer to pay for things in cash and don’t want to load credit into your account by making an online or digital payment.

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Touch App Store and cards iTunes in the Wallet app. Your App Store and iTunes Pass will open and display a unique QR code.

This QR code is unique to your account. If you want to add funds to someone else’s account, you need to see their App Store and iTunes Pass.

  3. Show your phone with App Store and iTunes Pass display to Apple Store employees and let them know how much you want to add to your account.

  4. Now you need to pay the selected amount to the employee. They will scan the QR code in your App Store and iTunes Pass in the Wallet app. The amount is added to your App Store and iTunes Pass balance almost immediately after the transaction is completed.

How to add funds to iTunes using the iPhone Wallet app

You can also use the iPhone Wallet app to deposit money into your Apple account by making a direct payment. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone, then tap App Store and iTunes Pass.

  2. Click on ellipsis in the upper right corner.

  3. Click Add funds to Apple ID .

  4. Press the amount you want to add.

  5. Press Next .

  6. Double-click sidebar button on the right side of your iPhone to add funds to your App Store and iTunes Pass.

So adding funds to your account will incur charges for the regular payment method associated with your App Store or iTunes account, such as your credit card.

How to add an iTunes Gift Card to Wallet on iPhone

While you can’t use the Wallet app itself to redeem an iTunes, Apple Music, or App Store gift card, you can view your balance in the App Store and iTunes Pass. Here’s how to redeem your Apple Gift Card on iPhone and use its balance in the Wallet app.

  1. Remove the iTunes or App Store gift card from the package.

After what felt like yet another endless wait, Gran Turismo 7 launches for PlayStation 4 and 5 on March 4. This time around, it enters a modern racing video game genre that’s bigger than ever before. Buyers today can choose from arcade-style racers like Grid Legends or Need for Speed or casual kart racers popularized by a famous mustachioed plumber and his Nintendo pals. There are endlessly customizable open-world playgrounds like Forza Horizon 5, hardcore PC simulation racers like iRacing that require wheel and pedal setups, nearly as hardcore sims like Assetto Corsa, and even mobile-focused drag racing titles like those in the CSR series.

The 25-year-old PlayStation-exclusive Gran Turismo series occupies a space somewhere between simulation and more serious arcade racers. The original Gran Turismo made its debut in 1997 on the original PlayStation and sold more than 10 million copies (as did the next four installments), establishing the franchise as a core pillar of publisher Sony’s content strategy.

Gran Turismo 7 is the latest installment (get all the recent background info here), the first numbered GT entry since 2013 and the successor to 2017’s Gran Turismo Sport. During the past decade or so we’ve heard musings that say the car enthusiast is an endangered species, that electric cars and autonomy and the V-8’s impending death will wipe us all out. But if the passionate folks at Polyphony Digital and Sony keep delivering experiences like Gran Turismo 7, we’re not worried.

Gameplay

Gran Turismo 7’s heart is all about racing and car culture. There’s no capture-the-flag mission, no trendy battle-royale mode, and no open world with hilariously huge ramps to launch yourself off a volcano at 200 mph. The bulk of the game runs through a system centered at the new GT cafe, a hub where a player is assigned menus to work through.

Most menus focus on collecting a segment of three vehicles—rear-drive Japanese sports cars, French hot hatches, Ford Mustangs throughout the years, etc.—through a series of races in different environments. Upon completing a menu, the cafe host will talk about the cars’ significance as part of the automotive landscape.

Fostering automotive enthusiasm through knowledge and historical context is a central theme throughout GT7. At Brand Central, one of the areas of the game where you can buy new vehicles, most automakers and a few parts manufacturers have digital museums with dozens of slides with period photography and short paragraphs detailing significant moments in their histories. There’s enough content here to keep car nerds busy for hours, and it’s presented handsomely.

Folks who really engage with Gran Turismo 7 won’t just learn history, though; they’ll learn how to drive. Certain race series required by menu books necessitate earning tiered licenses from the License Center, each of which involve a collection of challenges that teach players about mastering different racing lines, cornering in the wet, driving on dirt, and more. You can put these skills to work in individual missions separate from full races.

The tuning shop finally returns (it was absent from Gran Turismo Sport) and features brief descriptions of how each upgrade improves performance. Each vehicle in your garage has a detailed blurb, too. At the cafe, depending on what car you’re driving, designers will pop by to chat about its development and share personal anecdotes. We had a delightful digital sit-down with Tom Matano, who penned the original 1989 Mazda Eunos Roadster, which we know as the Miata. Fabio Filippini of Pininfarina fame shared insights about the Fiat 500 Abarth, too.

Scapes returns for GT7, and we struggle to think of a better photo mode in any video game. There are literally thousands of shoot locations with real-world photo assets where you can position your digital vehicle and fiddle with camera settings. We’ll have a GT7 Scapes review from one of our photographers in the coming days.

As for the driving physics, Gran Turismo 7 is more of a sim racer than what most console gamers are used to. The developers went to obvious lengths to factor things like location-realistic wind physics into the handling model, just one example of the countless measures Polyphony Digital took to fine-tune the driving experience. Vehicles feel realistically weighty, and braking and handling take some adjustment before you really get in the flow of things.

This is also one of the areas where Gran Turismo 7 is an objectively better experience on PlayStation 5. Playing on PS4, you won’t notice exceeding the grip limit until you see it on screen and feel the rumble in your hands. With the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the PS5’s DualSense controller, we were able to feel when we were edging up to that limit and adjust accordingly. Adaptive triggers in the DualSense can also simulate different brake- and gas-pedal feel. The adaptive triggers are particularly effective with the day one patch; we recommend playing with the Strong setting that offers the most obvious variable resistance and better simulates traction conditions through the throttle.

Graphics and Performance

Tragically, loads of players won’t get to experience GT7 on the latest-generation hardware at launch. The PlayStation 5 remains plagued by the same supply chain shortages as the automotive industry, and even more than a year after its launch, you still can’t just walk into a store and pick up one of the ninth-gen consoles. Your best bets are the online waitlists and scheduled drops that sell out immediately, or—if you’ve simply run out of patience—the dreaded resale marketplace.

On PlayStation 4, GT7 is a pretty game but far from a mind-blowing one. Lovingly modeled vehicles with lifelike lighting elements exist alongside rough-edged shadows and environments that, at times, look like they could be running on PS3. That said, the reworked replay system and its dynamic camera angles are properly impressive. Some of the shots look like track footage straight out of an episode of Top Gear.

When we played on PlayStation 5, though, the graphics looked properly next-gen. Gran Turismo 7 supports ray-tracing in some modes and up to 8K(!) resolution with buttery sky-high frame rates. Load times on PS5 are also nearly nonexistent, whereas playing on a PS4 necessitates tedious waiting while the aging hardware gets up to speed; we recorded loading into a race taking 30 seconds or more.

Should You Buy Gran Turismo 7 on PS4?

Even if you’re playing on an older machine, the latest entry in the Gran Turismo series is absolutely worth your time. This is an ode to driving and car culture executed with care, and it’s an engaging gaming experience to boot. It plays better on PlayStation 5, which is no surprise, but GT7 on any system is an easy recommendation to every enthusiast and budding car fan we know.

Live the life of a car enthusiast on a world map

Starting with a modest amount of money, you buy your first used car and race it in rookie races to spend the prize money on tuning or buying new cars for more serious racing. This core game mechanic, familiar to fans of the series since the very first Gran Turismo, is back on a whole new level: the world map is much richer than before. Of course, no one forces you to limit yourself to it: Gran Turismo 7 has both a split-screen mode for playing with friends, and online modes that allow you to communicate and compete with motorsports fans from all over the world.

Musical Rally and Musical Replay: Music Meets Racing

Newly introduced in Gran Turismo 7, Musical Rally is aimed at the widest range of players. Unlike sports competitions, in this mini-game you have to drive as far as possible, following the rhythm of the playing music. When it ends, you receive a reward depending on the distance traveled. We are sure that you will enjoy racing along the track to your favorite tune! Another interesting innovation is the “Music Replay” system, which automatically changes camera angles and adjusts race replays to the selected music.

Improved physics model

The Gran Turismo physics model, which has been in development for 25 years, has been improved even more in the new game. The aim of the simulation is now not only accurate lap numbers, but also a realistic human perception of movement. Improvements have also been made to aerodynamics – the CFD digital environment simulation system used in it allows you to take into account changes in downforce caused by lifting the front or rear of the car, as well as simulate the effect of wind and turbulence on control. Feedback from our consultant Lewis Hamilton, our technical partner Michelin, who supplies the world with premium tires, and the best competitors in the FIA GT Championships have been taken into account in refining the physics model.

Time of day and weather based on global data

You are racing along the track under a clear sky, but suddenly the clouds begin to gather – and after a few minutes, heavy rain falls on the circuit. You start the race in the dead of night under a starry sky, and by the time you finish, a scarlet streak of dawn appears on the horizon. The environment in Gran Turismo 7, like in real life, is constantly changing. Lighting and weather dynamics are modeled on the basis of the most detailed climate data collected in the region of each route. As a result, our sky looks not only beautiful, but also amazingly believable.

Changes in the weather can affect the course of races

When it rains, the surface of the track gradually gets wet. While rain has been present in past games in the series, wetting and drying pavements are modeled much more accurately in Gran Turismo 7. As a result, phenomena such as the formation of puddles and accelerated drying of areas where more cars pass have become possible. Thanks to such nuances, the races become more dramatic and unpredictable.

A sport mode that pushes the boundaries of virtual motorsports

Gran Turismo 7 offers not only exciting in-car entertainment, but also full esports support. Sports mode includes both daily races open to the public and the official championship, which has been held every year since 2018. This championship includes not only online races, but also “live” events, where the best players of the year perform. Recordings of all past stages of this epic competition can be seen in the Gran Turismo LIVE section, and some of the leading participants are represented in Gran Turismo 7 as playable characters.

A richer, more engaging gaming experience on PlayStation®5

No-compromise ray-traced graphics and realistic sound and tactile effects

Gran Turismo 7 is fully optimized for the PlayStation®5 console. The use of advanced graphics technologies such as ray tracing allows you to achieve unprecedented realism of cars and tracks. Combined with 4K and HDR support, this delivers some of the most impressive graphics in the series’ history. In addition, the game supports haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense™ wireless controller: these technologies allow you to transmit information about the state of the car and the road surface through complex vibration effects and changing the force on the trigger buttons. All this is complemented by a surround sound system that accurately positions the sources of various sounds around the player.

Full support for PlayStation®VR2. Experience a new level of immersion in virtual racing!

The PlayStation®5 version of Gran Turismo 7 fully supports PlayStation®VR2. All races, modes and online races (except Split Screen) are available with a whole new level of realism, while the exclusive VR Showcase mode allows you to view detailed 3D models of cars in various scenery and lighting conditions. Features such as dedicated HDR tonemaps, pupil tracking and field-of-view enhancement, and dynamic spatial audio add a whole new dimension to virtual racing. Despite the popularity of the Gran Turismo series, it is important to understand that this entertainment is not for everyone. Despite the deceptive informational noise and the formal genre, racing in it is not at all the main thing: competing against AI has never been really interesting here. Why then is Gran Turismo so loved? The reason is simple: Kazunori Yamauchi has once again made a game where the cars themselves are much more important than what happens to them. And this time he again brought the usual formula almost to perfection.

Plunging into the topic

The developers of Gran Turismo 7 immediately make it clear how much they are in the subject and how much they love their job: the game starts under the credits against the backdrop of archival records affecting the entire history of the automotive industry from the first tarantas to the assembly of modern machines. Polyphony Digital immediately starts flooding the player with content so that even the hottest car addicts can enjoy their free time and appreciate the scale of the project. And everyone else – fall in love with the automotive industry.

The graphics (even on PS4) are on par: weather effects and lighting change in real time and transform the tracks, landscapes in the background, like mountains or city lights at night, are impressive, and the cars are worked out to the smallest detail

Car fleet, as always, luxurious: from classics like the very first Beetle, to Vision prototypes designed specifically for the game. Each car is recreated to the smallest detail, but more importantly, the authors did not forget to provide the audience with many ways to interact with them. Have you been worried for a long time that you don’t know how to play serious racing simulators? There is a whole training center where they teach all the necessary skills step by step: from braking to overcoming turns. Don’t know the tracks? The “Getting to know the track” mode will help memorize them to specific sectors. Want to see the interior of a Ferrari? It’s also possible, and the game specifically encourages you to collect complete collections of cars: the authors give away new models almost for every race, gradually filling up space in the garage, like an album with stamps.

Well, if you like to dig under the hood, then any car can be adjusted – from toe angle to torque. And along the way, you can wash the car, change the oil, sort out the engine, create a unique livery or tune it up by buying new wheels, wings and other cosmetics. Moreover, you can share your own designs with other players, which will surely make many people pore over unique coloring pages for a long time.

Real time clock can be spent in the local museum

Photo enthusiasts will be able to capture any car from the collection against the background of thousands of picturesque landscapes with a bunch of different settings. And if you are more interested in looking at beautiful photos, then the brand center houses a whole museum, where, along with archival photographs and video recordings, the most important events in the history of large companies and specific models are painted. Finally, in addition to the usual races, there is a whole range of different tasks from “overtake several cars in a couple of turns” to “with the help of a slip stream, gain speed of 300 km/h”. And this, perhaps, is not even all the interesting things that you can do in Gran Turismo 7.

Fashion trends

But the main thing is that all this was done not for show, but tied to quite interesting meta-gameplay: this time the single player campaign is stylized as a city map, on which a variety of buildings are scattered. Each building has its own function. For example, in the upper part of the map there is a used car salon, and at the bottom, on the seashore, there is a spare parts store. Instead of abstract menus, players need to travel between locations, and in each location characters with their own names, portraits and monologues are waiting, which greatly enhances immersion.

4 photos

The heart of the whole idea, perhaps, can be called the “Cafe”, where motorists gather. There, the player is given tasks, rewards for completed goals in the form of new tracks or lottery tickets, and in honor of each collection of cars collected by the player, the cafe owner will definitely give a lecture on the history of the cars presented in it. All this is presented a little dryly, but with archival photographs and interesting facts. In general, atmospheric and immersing in the topic.

It is the tasks “Cafe” that move the passage forward. The player is constantly asked to go to some new mode and do something there, to purchase certain cars and ride them on a variety of tracks, and new competitions also open just for completing tasks. Thanks to this progression, there is always motivation to switch from one activity to another, alternate techniques and strive for additional goals, in addition to completing all the championships in order.

Despite all the changes, the atmosphere has remained classic for the series. In many ways, this can be explained by almost the same interface style, as well as the traditional Japanese rock/lounge soundtrack for Gran Turismo

not just took stylistic elements from tycoons, but also spied on some holding mechanics. So, these very lotteries successfully support the feeling of excitement: you can win money, a new car or some kind of spare part in them. In addition, at the end of the championships, they offer to choose one of three cards with question marks symbolizing a unique car, and every day the game measures the distance traveled by the player – if you dashed off the “norm”, you will receive some kind of reward. There is also an opportunity to complete the game faster by spending money: most of the tasks are tied to collecting cars that you can win in races, or you can just buy. Yes, and the in-game currency is also sold for real money.

Another thing is that all this is not bad at all and never looks like grind. Cars important for passing are handed out at every step, there is always plenty of money, and you can get them for any sneeze. Even user-configured races are rewarded with currency, and the higher the difficulty, the more money you get for winning the race.

No serious bugs were noticed in the press version on PS4, however, the game likes to freeze from time to time while wandering through the menu. It will probably be fixed by release.0039

The only disadvantage of the story campaign is inconvenience. The user interface of Gran Turismo has always been cumbersome, and this time the problem is exacerbated by the fact that many of the same functions are scattered across various menu houses. Do you want to buy a car? You can go to a used car dealership, you can go to a brand center where new models are on display, and there is also the option to buy a very rare copy from a collector. Car tuning, buying parts and tuning are also located in different places, and repainting a car is a completely different story. Just choosing a color in the garage is not enough here: you need to go to the workshop, buy paint separately, then open the livery editor, select the desired type of paint and color, and then apply it and save it. And for all this you have to move from one menu to another, which on PS4 is accompanied by constant downloads. Atmospheric? Yes, how. Comfortable? Not at all.

One nuance

But this is rather a minor quibble. And that’s why it’s especially insulting that with the main attraction, racing, an overlay also came out. As in the previous parts, here is a completely uninteresting AI, almost nothing happens during the races, and there is no sense of danger or colorful accidents. In addition, most of the story races practice a start on the move, which sends the player to the end and gives the leaders a head start of 20 seconds, which only makes the situation worse.

3 pictures

Artificial intelligence, although predictable, but not stupid, opponents do not do annoying things in principle

The player is forced to break forward, but the lack of a full-fledged start deprives the competition of at least some intrigue, and it affects the balance for the worse. The fastest cars always start in the lead, which completely kills the fight between AI and championships with points, because the same drivers come to the same places. Finally, all this greatly limits the choice of cars. If you specifically upgrade the technique for breakthroughs, then the rivals turn into mobile chicanes that you just need to go around, and taking a memetic “Beetle” or an old Fiat means saying goodbye to the chances of winning in advance. You have to look for a balance yourself and forget about some cars forever, which is not very pleasant.

The authors tried to add some variety with the help of the new Musical Rally mode. However, this discipline differs from ordinary time trials with a timer and an equalizer synchronized to the rhythm of the music, reminding you that the race will end by the end of the track and you need to drive as far as possible during this time.

Piloting with a view from the cabin is the most interesting thing, largely due to the soundtrack and interior design. The physical model is best felt in the cockpit

However, Gran Turismo 7 is still a game about fighting yourself rather than your opponents. It’s about concentration, the feeling of the car and trying to drive a circle without errors. The car behavior model still maintains an almost perfect balance between arcade and realism: when an ordinary person can easily cope, and the game will punish for mistakes, and at the same time the process looks as close to reality as possible.

Physics successfully imitates all the basic sensations of a real car, like hitting bumps or attacking curbs. It makes you slow down, correctly dose the gas and choose trajectories, but it simplifies the process just enough so that Uncle Fedya without a driver’s license can enjoy it. Both on the steering wheel and on the gamepad. Moreover, different techniques are really different from each other, pushing to regularly change the style of piloting. If the Nissan GT-R is nervous and prone to constant rear end drift, then some modern Ford Mustang, on the contrary, is overly straightforward and difficult to fit into turns. The weather also sometimes drastically changes the gaming experience: at night it becomes harder to navigate, and on wet roads, cars behave nervously, start aquaplaning and extremely reluctant to slow down. And that’s why it’s especially disappointing that it’s not always possible to really enjoy it without interesting rivals.

6 photos

Rivals may well go fast, but they practically don’t know how to attack, defend and make mistakes – they just follow ideal trajectories from start to finish

However, Gran Turismo has been like this for years: a game more about cars and subculture, about the competition with a timer and the continuous learning process. It is for this that people adored her, adore her and, most likely, will adore her after the seventh part. Moreover, the Sport mode and multiplayer may well compensate for the shortcomings of AI due to races against real players. Alas, I was not able to properly evaluate the online component, but there is no reason to doubt it. If you want to know more, write in the comments – then we will definitely return to this topic later.

Gran Turismo 7 isn’t always fun to play, but it makes you and your creators admire you every five minutes. How much its developers love cars and the culture associated with them, their passion and attention to detail is a real rarity.

  • interesting campaign structure
  • love and attention to automotive history
  • nice physics
  • rich car fleet
  • a huge number of modes and activities.
  • fresh artificial intelligence and racing
  • rare freezes in the press version
  • awkward interface.

What : The key is provided by the publisher.

On what : PS4.

How much : about 20 hours.

The subtitles are translated into Russian, but there is not much to say about the translation: mistakes in the texts are rare, and there are no voice tracks in the game at all.

    Sony

Sony has a pair of new Android Walkmans out, the NW-A300 and NW-ZX700. Yes, that’s right, Walkmans, Sony’s legendary music player brand from the 1980s. Apple may have given up on the idea of a smartphone-adjacent music player when it killed the iPod Touch line recently, but Sony still makes Android-powered Walkmans and has for a while. The first was in 2012 with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread-powered NWZ-Z1000, which looked like Sony just stripped the modem out of an Xperia phone and shoved it onto the market as a music player. Since then, Sony has made designs with more purpose-built hardware, and today there are a whole series of Android-powered Walkman music players out there. Sadly these new ones seem to only be for sale in Japan, the UK, and Europe, for now.

We’ll start with the most consumer-friendly of the two, the NW-A300. This basic design debuted in 2019 with the NW-A105, but that shipped with Android 9. This is an upgraded version of that device with a less-ancient version of Android, a new SoC, and a scalloped back design. In Sony’s home of Japan, the 32GB version is 46,000 yen (about $360), while in Europe, it’s 399 euro (about $430).

The NW-A300 is a tiny little device that measures 56.6×98.5×12 mm, so pretty close to a deck of playing cards. And really, just look at these pictures. Sony might not be the consumer electronics juggernaut it used to be, but it still has an incredible product design department. I have no use for a standalone music player, but both of these Walkmans are so pretty that I just want to hold one.

The front is dominated by a 3.6-inch, 60 Hz, 1280×720 touchscreen LCD. There’s 32GB of storage, and the device supports Wi-Fi 802.11AC and Bluetooth 5. That’s about all Sony wants to talk about for official specs. It touts “longer battery life” but won’t say how big the battery is, promising only “36 hours* of 44.1 KHz FLAC playback, up to 32 hours* of 96 KHz FLAC High-Resolution Audio playback.” Presumably, that’s all with the screen off.

For more specs, we can visit The Walkman Blog, a wonderful site that is very serious about these little music players. In October, the site found documentation for the A300 listing a 1500 mAh battery. The system-on-a-chip in the older NW-A100 model was the NXP i.MX8M-Mini, a wildly slow 28 nm SoC that has just four Arm Cortex-A53 CPUs and 4GB of RAM. You can say, “This is just a music player,” but that’s not really true since it still runs full Android with an app store and everything. Geekbench scores show this has a new quad-core Qualcomm chip of some kind with 4GB of RAM, but we can’t be sure of the model number. A newer chip with smaller transistors would probably account for a lot of that “better battery life” promise.

This is a music player, so of course, there’s a headphone jack on the bottom of the unit. You’ll also find a spot for a lanyard, a speedy USB-C 3.2 Gen1 port for quick music transfers, and a MicroSD slot for storing all your music. Buttons along the side of the device also give you every music control you could want, like a hold switch, previous, play/pause, next, volume controls, and power.

In a world of Apple Music streaming, Sony’s just launched a new Walkman MP3 player

When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission. Here’s how it works.

There was a time when all anyone could talk about was MP3 players, with Apple’s iPod the cream of the crop. Then, they faded into obscurity with the advent of smartphones and music streaming services like Apple Music, only whispered about by none but the most die-hard of portable audiophiles.

All the way through was Sony’s trusty Walkman. Still on a relatively-regular release cycle, it’s the MP3 player for the modern age, with internet connectivity and some of the best DACs in the business. A new year, a new CES, and a new Walkman is here — and it’s rammed with some cool specs.

You might ask why anyone would want an MP3 player when you can just stream all your music from Apple Music or TiDAL on your best iPhone — a reasonable question. The answer lies within the little Sony Walkman NW-A306. While your phone doesn’t have much space for quality audio hardware, like a meaty DAC and amp, in a dedicated MP3 there’s a little more wiggle room.

Sony has managed to slip both of those in, in the form of the S-Master HX digital amp technology. Sony says this will “reduce distortion and noise across a range of frequencies, for a rich and full-bodied sound”. What does this mean? Plugging a set of headphones into this little guy will make your music sound better than you’d find on most smartphones.

There are also those of us that prefer using downloaded tracks rather than streaming, which the little Sony will handle better than any smartphone, too. There’s support up to the highest definition FLAC lossless files, as well as onboard DSEE Edge AI audio upscaling for CD-quality tracks.

It’ll also play these tracks for longer with some impressive battery life. Sony claims the NW-A306 will last up to 36 hours when listening to standard 44.1kHz Flac files, up to 32 hours when listening to hi-res 96kHz FLAC files, and then up to 26 hours when you use the player to stream over your chosen streaming service.

This is not the MP3 player of yesteryear then. There are modern conveniences like Bluetooth and WiFi music streaming on board, as well as all the great kit that an Audiophile could want in a portable media device.

The Sony NW-306 comes out later this month and will be available for £350/$499 on the Sony website.

Quiet dehumidifier: Quietest Dehumidifiers of 2023 – Consumer Reports

    Опубликовано: October 23, 2023 в 3:06 am

    Автор:

    Категории: Miscellaneous

Dehumidifier Noise Output | Most Quiet Dehumidifiers

Dehumidifiers make a lot of noise. Some of that noise can be controlled but much of it cannot.

    Factors you can’t control

    1. Compressor noise – some models have louder compressors than others – our individual model reviews cover the details.

    2. Exhaust location – all dehumidifiers have a fan. The fan exhausts through the side (such as in the photo above) or through the top of the dehumidifier. The air exhausting makes a much more pleasing “noise” than the compressor – that of a lot of air moving through an opening.

On side exhaust units the compressor noise isn’t masked nearly as well as top exhausting units because the fan noise is more directional.

    3. Intake location – all dehumidifiers need to intake air to process it. This intake of air happens through a grille that’s usually on the back of the dehumidifier. The air is taken in through a filter and all of this also generates noise. Thankfully, it’s again a fairly pleasant noise (at least compare to compressor noise) and it’s usually emanating from the back of the dehumidifier (since the air intake grille is usually on the back).

    4. CFM – the last factor you can’t control is CFM. Some models have a higher CFM than others. Sometimes, high CFM is good for noise output – the higher the CFM, the greater the wind noise, the more it masks the compressor noise. Sometimes, high CFM is bad for noise output – if compressor noise is close to nonexistent or minimal it isn’t necessary to mask the unpleasant compressor noise.

    Factors you can control

    1. Fan speed – simply set the dehumidifier to a lower speed to reduce raw noise output

    2. Distance between the dehumidifier and you
    a. place it further away from you in the same room to reduce audible noise
    b. place it in an altogether different room to essentially eliminate noise – for example, you can put the dehumidifier a room close to your HVAC intake and have it distribute dry air throughout your whole house instead of a specific room

    Noise Output Testing

We performed four different noise output tests:

Test 1: sound meter right above unit’s control panel – high fan speed
Test 2: sound meter right above unit’s control panel – low fan speed
Test 3: sound meter 10 ft. away from unit – high fan speed
Test 4: sound meter 10 ft. away from unit – low fan speed

The first two tests allowed us to determine the unit’s noise output at close range while the last two tests allowed us to make the same determination at a range we felt was more indicative of a real world environment. In fact, our recommendation is that you focus on each unit’s performance in our 10 foot test much more than you do on our close range testing (we do the same in our product reviews).

    Test Advantages

Before we show you the results of our testing, we need to discuss the sizable advantage certain units had in each noise output test we performed.

All dehumidifiers intake air and exhaust air. The location of the exhaust is especially important since most of the noise produced by a dehumidifier comes from the exhaust. Here’s the thing: those units that exhausted out of the top of the dehumidifier had a distinct disadvantage compared to those units that exhausted out of the side in our testing. This is especially true for the tests that were carried out at the dehumidifier’s control panel.

The noise produced by the side exhaust units was directed to the side of the unit, away from the sound meter’s location – the result was a relatively lower reading. The noise produced by the top exhaust units was directed above the dehumidifier, much closer to the sound meter’s location – the result was a relatively higher reading. While this disadvantage was more pronounced during the control panel tests, it was still present during long range testing.

Keep this information in mind as you study the comparison charts below.

You can sort the table below by clicking on the up/down arrows next to each column heading.

    • Clicking on the down arrow next to “far high fan”, for example, will sort the dehumidifiers we tested from most quiet to least quiet in the noise output test where we placed the sound meter 10 ft away from the dehumidifier while it was on high fan speed.
    • Clicking on the up arrow will reverse the list sorting the same units from least quiet to most quiet.
    Current Models – Side Exhaust
    Current Models – Top Exhaust
Discontinued 50 Pint (70 pint 2012 DOE) Dehumidifiers
Discontinued 35 Pint (50 pint 2012 DOE) Dehumidifiers
Discontinued 22 Pint (30 pint 2012 DOE) Dehumidifiers
    Important Notes

#1 All readings are in decibels. “50.2″ = a sound meter reading of 50.2 dB

#2 “CP” = control panel = sound meter reading right above the dehumidifier’s control panel

#3 “10 ft” = sound meter reading 10 ft from the dehumidifier’s location.

#4 Lower readings are better. For example, a dehumidifier producing 50 dB of noise is quieter than a dehumidifier producing 60 dB of noise.

#5 Side exhaust discontinued units are the Frigidaire 70 pint unit, the Keystone 70 pint unit, the RCA 70 pint unit, the Whirlpool 70 pint unit, the Kenmore 70 pint unit, the SPT 50 and 70 pint units, and the Hisense 30 pint unit. As we discuss above, these units had a distinct advantage in all noise output tests.

The tables above demonstrate the following:

    1. Side exit units tend to have lower raw dB numbers than top exit units as we noted earlier.

Again, be very careful when analyzing this data.

First, understand that side exit units have lower numbers here simply because of the location of the exhaust relative to the sound meter.

Second, understand that even though top exit units have higher raw dB numbers the overall noise profile for these units tends to be more pleasant than the one produced by side exit units.

Why? Because top exit units distribute a fairly pleasing sounding wind noise upwards, omnidirectionally throughout the room.

Top exit units distribute that same pleasing noise in a particular direction.

All of this is important because the fan noise acts to mask compressor noise. Of the two most prominent noises that dehumidifiers produce – compressor buzz and fan noise – the former (compressor buzz) is much more unpleasant to listen to than the latter (fan noise).

Top exit units mask compressor buzz much better than side exhaust units because their fan noise is omnidirectional.

Note that fan speed also impacts how well the compressor noise is “masked”. You will almost always want to run any particular dehumidifier on high fan speed to mask compressor noise as much as possible. You will rarely want to run it on low fan speed. Yes, raw dB numbers are lower on low fan speed but the noise profile is more unpleasant.

This also relates to CFM. Units with higher CFM generate more wind noise and will do a better job of masking compressor noise than lower CFM units.

Thus, we recommend a dehumidifier with a top exhaust and high CFM if pleasant noise output is a priority.

If low noise output is a priority, see below.

    2. Smaller dehumidifiers have lower noise output.

Smaller units not only produce less raw noise but certain models also tend to have less compressor noise than larger equivalents.

Why? Because they have smaller compressors.

So, if low overall noise output is a top priority for you we would recommend a smaller capacity unit even though it doesn’t fall in line with our general recommendation of buying as large of a dehumidifier as you can afford.

Of course, you can take this line of thinking to the extreme and purchase a desiccant or thermo-electric dehumidifier. Such dehumidifiers are even more quiet than the compressor based options we discussed in this guide. However, their overall moisture removal rate is so low that we cannot in good faith recommend them over a compressor based option even if noise output is a top priority for you.

    Best Quiet Dehumidifiers

    #1– Frigidaire FFAD2233W1

The FFAD2233W1 is a small dehumidifier with a small compressor that makes less noise than the average compressor on a large dehumidifier. It also exhausts out of the side.

These two features make for a unit that produces less audible noise than any other dehumidifier currently on the market.

See Price on AmazonRead our Full Review
    #2 – Frigidaire FFAD5033W1

The FFAD5033W1 produces the most pleasing noise output profile of any model currently on the market. Its high CFM fan produces a lot of wind noise. And it exhausts out of the top of the unit which distributes that wind noise evenly throughout the room. These two features combine to mask compressor noise very well – better than any other unit we’ve tested.

See Price on AmazonRead our Full Review
    #3 – hOmeLabs HME020031N

The HME020031N has a louder compressor than the FFAD5033W1 but it exhausts air through its side which allows you to direct much of the noise it produces (the fan noise) away from you.

The overall noise output profile is less pleasant than that of the Frigidaire but the overall perceived loudness is lower also so this is “technically” the more quiet option.

8 Best Quiet Dehumidifiers – HouseFresh

Danny as been writing about air purifiers for 10+ years. He is a major fan of home technology, which makes him the perfect person to test and evaluate products for HouseFresh

As a result of a certain global event, many people are now working remotely, and this looks set to continue for some time. But while there are benefits to working from home, you can also encounter problems if your environment is particularly humid.

All that excess moisture and compromised air quality may not only lead to lower productivity but also health issues, such as an increase in allergy symptoms and coughing. You’ll soon know if your home or workspace is suffering from too much humidity because there’ll be visible signs of mold and mildew alongside their resultant musty odors.

A dehumidifier is a great solution to these issues but the majority of them can be on the noisy side. When you’re trying to concentrate, extraneous sounds like buzzing or humming can be a real nuisance.

This is where quiet dehumidifiers come into play. These units work in much the same way as other dehumidifiers and are designed to attract warm currents of air which then move through refrigerated coils. Cool, dry air is then released back into the room while condensation is maintained inside the unit.

Together with the noise levels, we considered such things as:

    • Weight
    • Tank size
    • Budget

When choosing the right dehumidifier, you need to consider the size of the room it’s working in. Putting a huge unit in a small room will be a waste of energy, and asking a small unit to clear a large room is simply a waste of time. The Tosot 50 Pint Dehumidifier is great for rooms up to 4,500 square feet. But if you’d like to find something to use in a more compact space, the Pro Breeze Electric Dehumidifier is ideal and covers 150 square feet so not suitable for most rooms.

We analyzed the water removal rate for all dehumidifiers on the market and then handpicked the best for reviews to test in our own home.

If you are also worried about air quality without causing a disturbance, then be sure also to check our recent list of the best quiet air purifiers, as they could work great in combination with one of the recommended units on this list:

    FAQs About Quiet Dehumidifiers

What makes a dehumidifier good? Is it its ability to diffuse excess moisture in an environment or its ability to maintain a decent level of quietness? Well, a good dehumidifier is a combination of both. It can balance its efficient operation with its noise level.

A lot of dehumidifiers are loud and this can be pretty uncomfortable. Buying an excellent quiet dehumidifier is, in fact, an investment for your health and comfort, especially if you plan to use it in a room that you reside in, like a bedroom.

    How Do Dehumidifiers Work?

A dehumidifier is designed to remove excess moisture from the atmosphere in a home. There is always water vapor in the air and a measure of this water vapor is known as humidity. Dehumidifiers regulate this measurement, ensuring the air vapor does not exceed the required amount.

A dehumidifier has a fan that it uses to draw in warm air in a room into its coil. As the air goes through the coil of the machine, the air contracts, and condensation happens in the dehumidifier. There is a storage tank attached to the dehumidifier, and this is where droplets of water formed during the condensation process collect. In the storage tank, the air becomes cooler and drier and is released back into the room’s atmosphere, safer.

The amount of moisture a dehumidifier can remove from a room depends on several factors. However, on average, a humidifier should be able to reduce the relative humidity in a room by 30 – 50%, according to energy laws.

    Why Are Dehumidifiers Loud?

    Due to the ongoing processes in dehumidifiers, they are usually known to be loud. This is one of the major challenges most people have with buying these appliances. Some of the sources of noise in a dehumidifier are;

    • The noise of the compressor
    • The exhaust: The fan, usually located either by the side or at the top of the dehumidifier, gives off a certain sound as the air exhausts.
    • Grille noise: There is a Grille that is found at the back of the dehumidifier. The intake of air happens through this Grille. As the air enters in through a filter, it makes some sounds.

All of these sounds contribute to forming the noise that is frequently associated with a dehumidifier.

Luckily, there are many brands of quiet dehumidifiers nowadays. You can thus look at review sites like ours to identify the level of sound that will be required for different levels of dehumidification.

Sound generally is measured in decibels. There are different levels of noise, ranging from Faint- 20 dB to Painful and Dangerous- 140 dB. It is important to pay attention to the dB range of the systems you use, as it can affect your health.

The humming sound of a standard dehumidifier can produce up to 65 dB noise level, which is not exactly quiet. For a more quiet dehumidifier, aim for below 55 dB. The range of a quiet dehumidifier is between the range of 40 dB and 54 dB.

How to Choose a Quiet Dehumidifier?

The two parts of the dehumidifier responsible for the loud sound are the compressor and the fan & airflow. A good dehumidifier should have a silent compressor. It should also have a low-noise fan and optimal airflow.

    Here is a brief guide;

    • Loud dehumidifier: Above 65 dB.
    • Noisy dehumidifier: Between 60 and 65 dB.
    • Neutral dehumidifier: Between 57 and 60 dB.
    • Quiet dehumidifier: Between 54 and 57 dB.
    • Super quiet dehumidifier: Between 40 and 54 dB. [many of these dehumidifiers are useless at removing sufficient water from the air for any space bigger than a cupboard]

The quieter a dehumidifier is, the more you can enjoy its operation in your home and be less likely to switch out, which will cause issues with humidity.

Why would you want a silent dehumidifier?

If your home feels humid, a dehumidifier is a necessary tool to reduce moisture in the air. By doing so, you can eliminate common problems resulting from excessive moisture, including allergens, mold, and mildew build-up.

However, dehumidifiers can often be loud. Many smart machines can even be programmed to run on set schedules or turn themselves on if they detect the humidifity getting worse. The last thing you need is for a loud unit to cut on in the middle of the night and wake everyone in the house, especially if you have children or babies.

That’s where a silent dehumidifier can benefit your home. With a quieter unit, you can relax in your home without a constant sound of a buzzing or humming filling up the air. You can even run it at night without risking disturbing anyone.

What are some useful ways to look after my dehumidifier?

With proper maintenance, you can extend the life of your dehumidifier while also ensuring it remains useful.

Firstly, you can perform regular cleanings of the tank. It should be emptied immediately once it’s full so there’s no moisture damage. Also, you need to replace or clean the air filter as well. This should be done at least once a month.

How you run the dehumidifier also plays a role in its maintenance. If you live in a high-humidity environment with a 24-hour dehumidifier, you may be running it all day long. In this case, it’s essential to give it a full day’s rest to not overwork the machine. Consider not running the unit when you’re showering to help save on power.

Which Dehumidifier is Best for You?

We all understand just how beneficial dehumidifiers are. They make our homes feel more comfortable by taking away the excessive moisture that otherwise makes it tough to breathe at times or traps allergens and mold in the air or on furniture.

A constant sound in your home can be disturbing for numerous reasons. It can be louder than your TV, get in the way of some quiet reading time, or disturb you and others in the home while you sleep. So, when you still need to lower the humidity levels in your home, your best bet is to find a quiet dehumidifier.

    Dehumidifiers

Dehumidification is necessary to create and maintain a comfortable microclimate in rooms with high humidity. In residential real estate, such premises are mainly swimming pools and adjacent premises. In addition to the actual creation of a comfortable microclimate, dehumidification provides a number of positive aspects: It decreases, and under certain conditions, fogging of windows completely disappears during the cold season. Conditions for the development of pathogenic microflora (fungi) are excluded. The risk of destruction of building structures is reduced due to a decrease in the likelihood of the occurrence and development of mold, rot, fungi, rust, etc. phenomena associated with high humidity and the possibility of condensation.

Dehumidifiers are a great investment for your home, not only because they reduce allergens like dust mites and mold, but also because they lower your energy bills during these summer months, helping your air conditioner run more efficiently. The best silent dehumidifiers, however, are devices that overlook the fact that they operate quietly yet still efficiently. Especially for an upstairs bedroom or children’s room, you’ll want the quietest dehumidifier you can find; the smaller the house or apartment, the quieter the device should be. The reason silence is so important is because dehumidifiers tend to be devices that run for many hours on end, often overnight, and so our focus is on the best devices with wide coverage areas and excellent dehumidification performance at virtually silent mode. Choose a model for yourself, taking into account: the capacity of the water tank, the presence of a built-in pump and overall dimensions.

For more information on how to choose a dehumidifier for yourself, you can read in the article: “How to choose a dehumidifier?”

Delux M800 Review – Best RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse For Cheap?

Delux M800 is light with impressive specs, and most importantly it only costs $40! So the question is, should you buy it?

    Delux M800 Features

    • Lightweight Gaming mouse
    • 6 Programmable Buttons
    • PAW3335 High-end wireless tracking engine
    • 5 gear DPI(400/800/1600/3200/5000, up to 16000DPI
    • 400IPS, 40ACC, and 1000 Refresh Rate
    • 60 million clicking lifespans optical switch
    • On-board Memory Pro Software Setting
    • Stable Wireless and Wired Gaming Mouse
    • Built-in Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, Up to 50h using
    • Ambidextrous Small Size with RGB

Delux M800 RGB 2.4Ghz Wireless + Wired Gaming Mouse Dual Mode 16000 DPI Lightweight Ergonomic 1000Hz Mice with Soft…

    Design & Build Quality

Let’s start with the design. The look and feel of the mouse are excellent and there’s not much to say as the Delux M800 is a Viper clone in terms of looks and a lightweight of just 58 grams which makes it handy for claw or finger grips. The matte finish is smooth to the touch and leaves no residue and sweat marks.

On the front it comes with a USB c port for charging (you can use the mouse while charging), the sides have a kind of rubber coating that provides a good amount of grip without feeling sticky or soft. It has two thumb buttons on the left, a DPI toggle button behind the scroll wheel, and other buttons everywhere you’d expect. There is also a small 2.4 GB USB-A dongle at the bottom. The sensor compartment is noticeable but well assembled.

The RGB lighting is very good – not the best, but it is good enough and can be customized in its software. Whereas, at the back, there is RGB lighting with an X mark and below it on the side, in addition to the scroll wheel. To change the light mode, tap the scroll wheel back at the same time to select preset lighting effects or just turn off the light without a driver.

In terms of construction, the mouse looks a bit hollow but overall it is solid and sturdy. Sure, it has a few squeaks and rattles especially if you press hard on the sides with the possibility of activating both side buttons, but it’s not a big deal that affects your gameplay or the quality of the product, though it is the biggest weakness of the mouse so if you rely on Mainly side buttons, I wouldn’t recommend using this mouse.

    Overall Performance

Moving on to the performance aspect, this mouse comes with one of two sensors. I chose the PAW3335 version, and you should too since it’s a few dollars more expensive and it’s a lot better. This sensor is a fairly low-power and high-performance version; With 5 DPI gears (400/800/1600/3200/5000, setting up to 16,000DPI via driver), 400IPS, 40ACC, and 1000 refresh rate, and a light switch of 60 million clicks. Everything I need can be set on the mouse without resorting to software but if you want to use custom DPIs or customize RGB, you can use Delux.

One of the main selling points of the M800. Wireless is 2.4GHz and is provided by a small dongle. I didn’t notice any input lags, disconnections, or general issues with the wireless feature. The I/O tests for the wireless peripherals were very good with results all ranging from 0ms to 1ms.

    Software

The software holds different sections for setup. Lighting, DPI, Parameter, and Macro. Simply specify the keys in any desired function; Adjust mouse sensitivity, double-click speed, scroll speed, polling rate and create any automation by setting the macro. Especially with the battery capacity indicator, just check the battery status via the driver.

    Battery Life

Delux M800 has a built-in 500mAh rechargeable battery, up to 50 hours of use on a single power charge. With that being said with 5 to 14 hours of daily use between gaming, browsing and school work with RGB enabled and 1000Hz polling, you’ll get about 2-4 days before you get the blinking red lights. But with RGB cancel and 1000hz poll, you will get about 4-5 days or about a week and a half if in general use.

    Final Verdict

Overall, this is a very sturdy little mouse for $40, you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a small wireless mouse that won’t break the bank, this may be it, just be sure to get the 3335 version.

Delux M800 Price And Where To Buy

    Show seasonal allergies who’s boss

If you suffer from seasonal allergies, now is when they are at their worst. Stock up on allergy season’s most important products to keep your home, classroom, and office allergen-free. Start with an air purifier to strip the air of allergens like pollen and pet dander and replace existing air filters for improved air quality. Frequently dust, wipe down hard surfaces, and vacuum carpets and furniture to help eliminate pollen tracked in from outside and dander left behind by pets. When leaving the house, check the pollen count and bring a face mask to help filter the air you breath outside.

No matter what you do, it’s unlikely that the symptoms of seasonal allergies can be avoided entirely. Make sure to have over-the-counter cold and allergy medications on hand to battle symptoms, and stock up on facial tissues so you’ll always have one available when you need them.

Spring (Cleaning) is in the air

Spring cleaning and decluttering is a tradition meant to refresh our spaces for the year ahead. Staples has everything you need to clear out the clutter, store and organize your belongings, and all the right cleaning supplies.

    Clear out the clutter

Start by preparing a checklist and make sure you have all the necessary supplies. Use storage bins and a label maker to make sorting and organizing easier. Prepare extra boxes for donations and trash bags for the things you no longer need. Look for decorative boxes & baskets that will compliment your home’s décor and use them to organize. You can also use closet organizers and storage drawers anywhere they are needed.

    Start with the basics

An all-purpose cleaner, cleaning brush and microfiber cloths will clean most surfaces. Use a duster to remove unwanted dirt and furniture polish to revitalize wood surfaces. Upgrade your broom, dustpan, wet mop, and vacuum to make cleaning any type of flooring a breeze.

    The nitty gritty

Spring cleaning doesn’t stop there. There’s so much you can do to reset your home:

    • Improve air quality and eliminate pollen and pet dander with a new air purifier and an air freshener with a scent you love.
    • On a sunny day, take the opportunity to clean your windows – you’ll need glass cleaner, a bucket, a squeegee, and paper towels.
    • Have a step stool or ladder on hand to access hard-to-reach places like the tops of cabinets and overhead lighting.
    • Replace broken light bulbs and check the batteries in your smoke detectors.
    • Use drain cleaner to clear up sink and bathtub drains.

Does anybody really need a laptop cooling pad?

When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission. Here’s how it works.

1/11/2023: These tests were conducted in 2017, improvements to chip efficiency and laptop thermal design have rendered cooling pads less necessary. With that said, increased airflow and reduced heat will yield some performance gains, so if you are facing a slight gap in performance a cooling pad could still be useful.

Spend enough time perusing computer and gaming websites or stores and you’ll see some goofy things. Tech accessories can run the spectrum from very useful to downright silly, but there are some that sit in between, tempting you with their supposed usefulness and enticing you with glowing LEDs and angular designs. One such product: laptop cooling pads.

These elevated platforms have built-in fans and promise to improve your laptop performance through superior cooling. Some have adjustable fan speeds, whisper-quiet operation and even built-in USB hubs.

But are they useful? Can they improve your laptop’s performance? Are they worth the money? To help find answers to these nagging questions, we gathered a dozen of the best-selling laptop coolers on the market, then put them through rigorous testing to see if any of them are really worth the hype.

    How We Tested

Laptop coolers are marketed to all sorts of users, so we tested our dozen coolers on three types of laptops: a small budget 2-in-1, a more mainstream general-use laptop and a gaming notebook.

For our budget system, we used the 11-inch HP Pavilion x360, a compact convertible 2-in-1 that boasts an Intel Pentium processor, integrated Intel HD Graphics and no built-in cooling fans. It doesn’t have the greatest performance, and it can get warm, so it’s tempting to think that a cooling pad might help it do a little more than it normally could.

For a more mainstream, general-use laptop, we used the HP Envy 17, a 17-inch system that boasts a dual-core Intel Core i7-7500U processor and an Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics card – a GPU well-suited to tasks like light photo editing, but not gaming. It’s exactly the sort of system that you might want to game on, if only you could coax a slightly better frame rate out of it.

Finally, for the gamers out there, we used a 15-inch MSI GS63VR 6RF Stealth Pro gaming laptop similar to the one we reviewed in July. It’s VR-ready, thanks to an Nvidia GTX 1060 card, but the slim laptop runs hot, making it the ideal candidate for a cooling pad.

Our testing was designed to look at three primary areas: cooling, performance and noise. Since cooling is the laptop cooler’s raison d’etre – cooler is right there in the name – we focused first and foremost on temperature control. To measure this we put it through a number of tests, including the same heat test we put all of our laptops through during reviews. Along the way we measured both the surface temperatures, using an IR temperature gun, and internal temperatures using CPUID’s HWMonitor, a free tool for monitoring system sensor data.

We measured external and internal temperatures while running at room temperature on all three of our test laptops, and then we ran the same batch of tests while on an active cooling pad. While some pads have adjustable fan speeds, we defaulted to the maximum everytime. We wanted to get every bit of cooling capability out of every laptop cooler we tested.

We also tested performance, looking at both general processing and gaming. For this we used three tests. Geekbench 4 is a processor-intensive benchmark test that produces a simple score where higher is better. Dirt 3 provides a low-level graphics test that runs through a short segment of simulated gameplay, producing an average frame rate report at the end. For a more ambitious gaming test we used Rise of the Tomb Raider, a current-ish AAA title, and grabbed its average frame rate.

MORE: The Best-Selling Laptop Cooling Pads, Ranked Best to Worst

Each step of the way, we monitored the internal temperatures of the laptops, specifically noting the processor-package temperature. The processor is the sweltering heart of the laptop, simultaneously the biggest heat producer and the component most impaired by overheating. If you’ve ever had a PC shut down on you due to overheating, you know exactly how important it is to manage the temperature of your CPU.

We also tested for noise levels. A blowing fan may have some benefits, but noise can be a real drawback. For this test we used a MasTech MS6700 Digital Sound Level Meter, and measured the decibel level of the cooling fan while it ran during our testing. Since we tested each cooling pad at the maximum fan speeds available, our noise testing also addresses the loudest noise level it can make in normal operation.

    Evaluating Laptop Coolers

All the tests we ran produce a good amount of data, but determining whether or not those test results tell us anything — and what — was another issue. Each of our three laptops has its own unique factors that impact how effective external cooling can be. Each of the tests we ran can vary based on what sort of hardware it’s running on, and while cooling has an impact, we weren’t entirely sure how well that would come across in test results.

In the end, we boiled it down to five numbers: the change in external temperatures, the change in internal temperatures, the change in processor performance, and two sets of numbers for gaming performance. Now you might think that these numbers would provide a clear picture of what benefits are offered by cooling pads, and which product offers the best mix of benefits, but that’s not quite the case.

Two things are clear. First, laptop cooling pads do offer varying degrees of effective cooling. Both internal and external temperatures were effectively lowered, with internal heat levels dropping by as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit when added up across multiple tests and averaged across our three laptops. The overall average was a 13 degree drop, but some laptop coolers were closer to a 1 or 2 degree change.

Second, you are likely to see a very slight performance improvement as a result of this cooling. All of the pads we reviewed resulted in better performance on average in all of our benchmark tests. The problem is that the performance gains are extremely small. Processing performance, for example, improved by less than 2 percent. That’s the sort of improvement that you simply won’t notice in your day-to-day use.

Gaming performance also saw improvements, but let’s be clear – there is no magical cooling pad that will make your laptop capable of playing games that it can’t play now. In Dirt 3, which can be run using integrated graphics, we saw improvements most of the time, but the inexpensive HP Pavilion x360 actually saw frame rates drop ever so slightly (a reduction of less than 1 frame per second) on every cooling pad we tested. Both the HP Envy 17 and the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro saw improvements (gaining up to 20 frames per second) but were already producing frame rates that were smoothly playable, so the difference in experience will be minimal.

GPU-intensive performance in games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, on the other hand, saw improvements on most of the cooling pads, but those improvements never amounted to a full additional frame per second, let alone the sort of substantial changes one might hope to see with gaming performance. Cooling a gaming laptop will help keep temperatures in check, and will technically improve performance, but the reality is that you can’t improve your gaming experience by putting a couple of fans under your laptop. Sorry, gamers.

MORE: The Best Laptops for Every Need

We also saw fairly similar noise levels across all 12 of the cooling pads, with noise levels ranging from 48 to 55 decibels. In our lab, which has an ambient noise level of 40 to 43 decibels, that was loud enough to be heard when near the operating cooling pads, but never so loud that it was a distraction. A regular desktop PC will usually produce around 40 decibels, while 50 decibels is closer to the noise produced by a refrigerator. In both cases, it’s enough that you can hear it, but it’s unlikely it will be loud enough to be noticeable in most circumstances. If noise level is a concern, models with adjustable speeds may be able to run quietly with slower fan speeds.

So Who Does Need a Cooling Pad?

All of this is not to say that nobody should ever buy a laptop cooler. There are circumstances where a cooling pad is just the thing you need, and in those instances they are an affordable solution to a few irritating problems.

If you’re using an older laptop that is prone to overheating – meaning it gets so hot that it shuts down or reboots, or is too hot to touch – then a cooling pad may make enough of a difference to squeeze some more usability out of the machine. That said, it’s a short-term solution to a long-term problem. If your laptop runs so hot that you could make a grilled cheese sandwich on it, then your laptop is in need of either repair or cleaning, if not both. The likely culprit is dust, which can clog the fan vents and choke the internal cooling hardware. You may be able to clean it out with a can of compressed air, or you may need to open up the chassis to shoo out the dust bunnies.

You may also need a cooler when you’ve pushed an underpowered system to its limits. Just because your Pentium-powered laptop can run the latest version of the Sims doesn’t mean it’s well-suited to it, and in those instances, you may find that a cooling pad helps keep the laptop from overheating. That said, our testing data makes it pretty clear that cooling is all it will do; there’s simply no way for an external fan blowing air to magically make your laptop render more frames, but it will keep things just a little cooler.

Also, if you actually use your laptop on your lap, or in bed, or set on pillows or blankets, then a cooling pad can help keep you a little more comfortable. Most laptop coolers are designed for use on a desk or table, but some, like the Targus Lap Chill Mat AWE55US, are built for on-lap usage. In these cases, the majority of the benefit comes from a cooling pad providing space for regular ventilation, which prevents pillows or blankets from covering the fan vents built into the underside of the laptop. This is especially important since a hot laptop can have a real impact on your health, with issues like the evocatively named “Toasted Skin Syndrome” and a negative effect on male fertility.

Comfort at your desk is another consideration. If you have a laptop that belches hot air at you like a steady stream of steam from a subway grate, you may want to blow that hot air elsewhere. A laptop cooler can definitely help on that front. There are also some ergonomic benefits to be gained from raising up your laptop display, and cooling pads with adjustable height and angle can actually improve posture and reduce neck pain by getting your laptop screen up off the desk and closer to eye level.

If You’re Going to Buy a Cooling Pad

After looking over this article and reading about what you can and can’t expect from a cooling pad, if you still want to buy a cooling pad, here is some friendly advice to help you get the most for your money.

First, there’s no reason to pay a lot. At no point in our testing did we see a correlation between overall cooling or performance improvements with either price or brand name. A $20 cooler from a brand you’ve never heard of will likely chill your laptop as well or better than the $70 option from a well-known gaming brand.

The technology of a cooling pad is simple – it’s a laptop stand with a few fans mounted on it. There is no secret sauce that will make this basic design significantly more effective, simply because it’s not very effective in the best of circumstances. In our research and testing, there’s no need to pay more than $30 for any laptop cooler unless you’re paying for extra features.

MORE: Which Laptop CPU is Right for You?

Second, look at how you’ll be using it. If you need something you can use away from a desk, look at something like the Targus Lap Chill Mat AWE55US, which has neoprene padding for comfort and no riser feet that will jab you in the legs. If you want something you can take with you on the go, look for a cooler that’s small and light enough to fit in your laptop bag. Match the design to your use and you’ll have a better experience overall.

Third, features make a difference, even when cooling doesn’t. If you want to get the most value for your money, consider a cooling pad with a USB hub built-in. It doesn’t make the cooling any better or worse, but at least you’ll get some more usable ports out of the deal.

Debunking Myths About Laptop Cooling: 4 Common Misconceptions

    • Computer Store
    • Blog
    • Laptops : 4 common misconceptions

Author of the article: Sergey Koval
    ([email protected])

    Published: 31 August 2021

We figure out how to use a laptop correctly to avoid overheating, and what mistakes users most often make

Recently, against the background of the crisis of components for desktop PCs, the popularity of gaming and work laptops has grown. However, many users, when switching to compact mobile devices, face cooling problems and make mistakes. There will be an article about these errors, but first, let’s see how the laptop cooling system differs.

    Notebook cooling features

Each laptop has a cooling system. Laptops differ from desktop PCs in a compact body, which means that the cooling system has to work in a limited space and at the same time demonstrate high efficiency.

Manufacturers use three solutions to cool laptops:

The passive system is used in budget low-power laptops. Its components are radiators and heat pipes, often copper. Instead of heat pipes, the system can be equipped with an evaporation chamber. The advantages of passive cooling are quiet operation and no need for regular cleaning. The main disadvantage is low efficiency.

Active – an efficient cooling system that is used in productive models of work and gaming laptops. It differs from the previous one in the presence of fans that speed up the cooling of radiators, pumping cool air from the outside. The main advantage is high performance. The disadvantages are noise and the need for regular maintenance.

Water cooling is an experimental technology found in a small number of laptop models. It consists of several water circuits, through which liquid circulates with the help of a pump. Most often, the role of the coolant is performed by distilled water with reagents. The heat from the tubes is transferred to the radiators, and then to the surrounding air. Water cooling systems in laptops are necessarily equipped with fans. LSS are installed on the most powerful gaming laptops, they can have an external auxiliary unit, where one or more heatsinks and up to 4 fans are located. In general, the technology is quite effective, but its main disadvantages are not very compact size, as well as possible leakage and evaporation of the liquid.

The most common is active cooling. The other two technologies are extremely rare in performance laptops.

    Let’s move on to misconceptions.

    Cooling pad – panacea

Buying a cooling pad is the most common advice people get online when complaining about laptop shutdowns. However, it does not solve the problem in all cases.

A cooling pad is effective when a new or refurbished laptop has a weak internal system or is passive. Also, a cooling pad will be useful for those who prefer to work on a laptop while sitting on the couch or lying in bed.

However, the vast majority of cases of system overheating are due to clogged ventilation ducts or excessive load on the device. Therefore, additional airflow of the hull in such situations will be an ineffective solution.

The thicker the thermal paste, the better

This is the second most popular misconception. The fact is that ordinary users do not always correctly understand the purpose of thermal paste.

The sole function of thermal paste is to ensure that the sole of the cooler fits as tightly as possible to the surface of the case. At the same time, the paste itself has a rather weak thermal conductivity. This means that a thick layer with a loose fit of the sole, on the contrary, reduces the cooling efficiency. In addition, excess thermal paste can get on contacts and microcircuits. Of course, this will not lead to a short circuit or oxidation, but the sticky substance can collect a lot of debris on itself, and after hardening it will cause a lot of trouble with cleaning.

If you service the laptop yourself, apply a layer of thermal paste no more than 1 mm thick. The priority should be the uniformity of the layer and the absence of voids. Be sure to remove any leftover paste.

    Maximum fan speed

Theoretically, increasing the flow of cool air improves cooling. But in practice, with increasing speed, the increase in efficiency decreases. The temperature difference at 30% and 50% of maximum power is much higher than at 50% and 80%.

Thus, if you set the fan performance at 50 – 70% of the maximum speed, you can achieve the perfect balance of silence and temperature performance.

The manufacturer took care of everything

Yes, the manufacturer took care of the effective ratio of laptop power and cooling system performance. In addition, the processors of some gaming laptops can operate at extreme temperatures above 90 ° C, and automatically reset frequencies when overheated.

But the standard warranty period does not exceed 1 – 3 years, and the further health of the laptop and maintaining its performance fall on the shoulders of the owner. Therefore, even the most powerful laptops should be used without excessive loads and only for the tasks for which they are suitable.

How can I keep my laptop cool?

In order for your laptop to work stably and not crash at the most inopportune moment, you must adhere to certain operating rules. They are known to every user, but are often ignored.

    Therefore, we recall them again:

    • The notebook should be operated on a hard, level surface. Only in this way can the cooling system perform its functions. The soft base (sofa, bed, own knees) block the ventilation holes on the bottom cover, the air does not enter the case, which leads to overheating.
    • The system should be cleaned regularly. If you do not have the skills yourself, contact the service center. If there are fluffy animals in the house or the laptop is used in dusty work areas, the frequency of cleaning should be increased to 1 time in 3 months.
    • If your laptop has a tendency to overheat, do not try to overclock the processor and RAM. Most likely, the system is already working at its limit, and an extra few degrees can at least deprive it of stability. In the worst case, overheating can lead to serious damage.
    • Do not overload your notebook. Each system has its limits of possibilities. Installing a game or application that is too powerful for processing video content will require the processor to work at extreme frequencies. Overheating can result in both a reset of frequencies or an emergency reboot of the system, and the failure of components.

We hope that now you will be able to provide your laptop with a comfortable working environment and avoid mistakes that can harm the device.

Price of iphone3: iPhone 3GS [8GB Black] Prices

The Real Cost of the IPhone 3G

The biggest news about the new 3G iPhone is the price. The new case, the 3G and the GPS are great, but they’re features only a nerd could love. That $199 price point, though? It makes Apple’s plan to sell 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008 look like, well, selling 22 million iPods every three months. Seriously. Who will buy an iPod and a phone when they can have both, for less?

Of course, $199 isn’t the real price, from either side. You, the customer, will also have two years worth of monthly payments to the evil telco of your choice. So far, the only carrier which has revealed its full pricing structure is the UK’s O2 (AT&T has only said that it is increasing the unlimited data plans from $20 to $30 per month). So, in the UK, the cheapest you’ll manage is £99 ($194) for the 8GB handset, plus 18 months x £30 ($59) equals £639 ($1250).

But nobody cares. People look at the cost of the handset, and they’ll see that it’s cheaper than the equivalent standalone iPod (the 8GB iPod Touch is $100 more than the 8GB iPhone 3G and lacks a cell radio, GPS, a camera and speakers). If, like most people, you’re going to buy a phone contract anyway, why wouldn’t you buy this one? And remember, $199 is the full price. For the first time in years, an Apple product will be available at various prices. O2 is giving them away if you sign up for a hefty enough monthly plan.

O2 has also announced a pay as you go tariff. Unpriced as yet, it will presumably conform to Jobs’ promise that the 8GB iPhone will not be more than $199 US anywhere in the world. That means, hopefully, that a contract-free iPhone, essentially the best iPod ever made, will be available in the UK for under £100. That’s iPod Shuffle territory.

So where is Apple making its money? The controversial revenue sharing deal has been dropped, as we see in this press release from AT&T:

The new agreement between Apple and AT&T eliminates the revenue-sharing model under which AT&T shared a portion of monthly service revenue with Apple.

Apple was earning an estimated $336 in AT&T kickbacks over the two year life of a contract. Now, the phones are cheaper and this sweet revenue stream has dried up. What’s going on? Carrier subsidies, that’s what. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster reckons that AT&T is paying full whack for the iPhone 3G and taking the price hit itself. And he has some estimated numbers. Munster says that Apple is selling an 8GB iPhone to AT&T for $400, and the 16GB for $450. According to Fortune, other analysts think the 16GB price could be as high as $700.

Clearly, then, Apple is still making plenty. By abandoning the revenue sharing model, it has been able to strike conventional deals with over 70 carriers worldwide. And at the same, time, it is actually selling 3G iPhones for more than the original iPhone. And it’s AT&T that is paying. In a press release, the company said that it expects reduced earnings this year and next, around $0.10 to $0.12 less per share, entirely due to the iPhone. This is presumably why you’ll have to sign a contract when you buy an one.

Or will you? It certainly seems unusual that Apple’s biggest new product this year will not be available from the online Apple Store. Speculation has said that customers will need to sign a contract at point of sale. A Reuters story suggests otherwise:

There would be penalties for users who do not activate the iPhone in the first 30 days, AT&T said, in a move aimed at reducing the number of customers who buy an iPhone and tweak it so that they can use it on another network.

This indicates that one of the original iPhone’s best features, the iTunes sign-up, might remain. We’d speculate that sales will be credit card only and AT&T will apply an early-termination fee to those who fail to comply. Goodbye iPhone black market.

It’s hard to see what can go wrong. The number one complaints I’ve heard from non-geeks are that the iPhone costs too much for “a phone that plays music”, and “I’ve got an iPod already”. This price, for that phone, destroys these arguments.

Apple today revealed their latest mobile phone, the iPhone 3GS. What’s the “S” stand for you ask? Speed.

Even though the 3GS looks virtually the same as the iPhone 3G, the 3GS ups the ante on the prior generation by increasing application speed, battery life, camera resolution, memory and more. According to Apple’s WWDC keynote announcement today, the faster processor in the 3GS increases launch times of popular apps from 2.1x (launching messaging), to 3.6x (opening an Excel spreadsheet). Of course, performance improvements will vary from application to application.

There’s also support for OpenGL|ES, which should improve graphical performance. And processing speed isn’t the only boost – the iPhone 3GS also supports 7.2Mbps HSDPA wireless connections. In addition to the speed hikes, the 3GS adds several new features not supported on the 3G. Battery life is also improved. Here’s a handy battery comparison chart from the guys over at Gizmodo:

There’s a brand new 3-megapixel camera, complete with auto-focus, auto-exposure, auto-white balance, low light and an auto-macro mode that can capture still images as close as 10cm away.

The camera can also capture video at VGA resolution (yawn) at up to 30fps. There was no mention of digital image stabilization, but the video does take advantage of all the auto adjustment modes that the still camera supports. You can even trim your video shots using a slick on-screen timeline interface.

There’s also a new voice control mode, which lets you not only voice-dial, but select tracks to play in iTunes, open web pages, and control other applications. Hopefully, they’ll open this up to app developers to leverage in their own applications. Also along for the ride is a digital compass, which at first doesn’t sound very exciting, but the addition of a magnetometer to the hardware will enable much greater accuracy in terms of understanding your bearing when in GPS mode – especially on foot.

Of course, the iPhone 3GS takes advantage of all of the features of the iPhone 3.0 OS, including cut-copy-paste, landscape keyboard, app store microtransactions, MMS messaging, stereo Bluetooth and much more.

The iPhone 3GS will be available June 19th in North America and Europe. The 16GB version retails for $199, and the 32GB version is $299, both with a new AT&T 2-year agreement. And if you’re looking for a cheap phone, you can now buy last years iPhone 3G for just $99 bucks. All models are available for pre-order now over on the Apple Store.

    all models in order

Apple Corporation since the launch of its own smartphones had a clear strategy that set it apart from other major brands. Companies such as Samsung, LG, HTC and a number of Chinese brands created 2-3 models per year with different designs, features and prices, which made it possible to provide a greater reach of potential buyers.

In Cupertino, they did not bother much in this regard and stamped only one model per year with one color and a single configuration option. But after a couple of years, Apple began to realize that such an attitude towards customers looked inhumane and condescended to releasing a second, cheaper version with the prefix SE in the title. Recently, however, something went wrong with the release of this model, and the company itself is again focusing on top-end devices.

After the release of the first iPhone, two generations of young people have already changed, and the new youth knows only superficially about this smartphone. This is understandable, since they buy this device mainly to demonstrate their viability, since the brand is considered prestigious. We offer a short excursion to the origins of the iPhone, which will help you understand how the company and its offspring are evolving.

    1 iPhone

With the first iPhone, mobile applications also began to triumph. While first-generation iPhone users had to make do with pre-installed system apps, the Apple App Store emerged after a while, and is still the go-to source for Apple’s new smartphone apps to this day. Apple introduced the first iPhone to the market in November 2007, ushering in the era of smartphones. The start was made – the device received a 3.5-inch screen and a matrix resolution of 480 × 320 pixels.

    🔹 Yandex.Zen🔹 Vkontakte🔹 Telegram🔹 Pulse Mail.ru

    2 iPhone 3G

Almost a year later, in July 2008, the first successor model appeared. However, its design differences from its predecessor were minor: a little lighter, a plastic back panel instead of aluminum, a slightly longer battery life. One feature of the new model, however, was significant: support for the faster 3G network standard, while the original iPhone did not go beyond the Edge standard.

    3 iPhone 3GS

The iPhone 3GS was released in June 2009. The size remained the same, but a new processor was installed – Samsung S5L8920. The camera has also been improved: instead of a resolution of 2 megapixels, the iPhone 3GS had 3.1 megapixels at its disposal. The Internet connection of the new model has also been optimized.

    4 iPhone 4

The iPhone 4, which hit the market in June 2010, had a major redesign and was the first to use its own Apple A4 processor instead of the Samsung S5L8920. Other innovations included a 5-megapixel camera and a screen resolution of 960×640 pixels.

The iPhone 4 was the first iPhone to have a front-facing camera, making features like FaceTime and selfies possible.

    5 iPhone 4s

An improved version of the iPhone 4 was released in October 2011. The design of the device has not changed much, but the company has added separating strips to the design of the case to improve radio reception. With the Apple A5 processor, the smartphone was faster, and the camera had a resolution of 8 megapixels. One of the main innovations of the 4S was the integration of Siri, the first full-fledged voice assistant in a mobile phone.

    6 iPhone 5

The next-generation iPhone went on sale in September 2012. The iPhone 5 was larger than all of its predecessors, featuring a 4-inch display for the first time, yet lighter than its older brothers. RAM doubled from previous models to 1GB, and the Apple A6 processor was more powerful.

    7 iPhone 5c

In September 2013, Apple released the iPhone 5C. The differences with the iPhone 5 were actually minimal: the battery life and therefore the time of phone calls, as well as the standby time of the new model, were slightly longer. True, the color palette of the new iPhone has indeed been improved: the back panel of the iPhone 5C has become colored, the model has become available in white, pink, yellow, blue and green.

    8 iPhone 5S

Simultaneously with the iPhone 5C, the iPhone 5S also went on sale. While the iPhone 5C only came in 16GB and 32GB storage options, the iPhone 5S had an additional 64GB storage variant. The iPhone 5S was available not only in silver and gray, but also in gold, and was slightly lighter than the previous model. However, the main difference was the processor. The iPhone 5s was the first among its brethren to feature two chips: an A7 main processor with 64-bit architecture and an “M7 motion co-processor”.

In addition, the smartphone had other features: iPhone 5S was the first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor and therefore the ability to unlock the phone using biometrics. Since then, this feature began to appear in other devices.

    9 iPhone 6 / 6 Plus

September 2014 marked another milestone in iPhone history with the introduction of the iPhone 6 and its big brother, the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 was larger than the 5 Series model with a 4. 7-inch display. Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus had a 5.5-inch display, and both models had a maximum storage capacity of 128 GB. The iPhone 6 is by far the best-selling iPhone, followed by the iPhone XR.

    10 iPhone 6S / 6S Plus

The successor was not long in coming, with the iPhone 6S and the larger iPhone 6S Plus variant arriving in September 2015. Innovations in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus included a new generation processor, doubling the RAM to 2GB, and a 12-megapixel camera. 3D Touch was also integrated into the 6S for the first time. In addition, this smartphone boasted an improved and much faster version of TouchID, Apple’s fingerprint sensor.

    11 iPhone SE

The iPhone SE, released in March 2016, was an intermediate model. It combined the form factor of the iPhone 5S, which many buyers missed, and the technical stuffing of the iPhone 6S, but at a price even cheaper than the “full” iPhone 6S (Plus). But manufacturers saved on the front camera, which was significantly inferior to the cameras of its predecessor, which was a significant drawback for users of FaceTime technology. In addition, the fingerprint sensor, which was already in the second version in the iPhone 6s, the SE had in the slower first version.

    12 iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Both iPhone 7 Series were released in September 2016. The powerful A10 Fusion processor makes iPhone 7 twice as fast as its predecessor. The iPhone 7 Plus, the larger-screen variant, also featured a dual camera. According to Apple, this combination of a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens was supposed to produce a result similar to that of a SLR camera.

In addition, the iPhone 7 started a trend that many users still can’t get over: the disappearance of the headphone jack. This iPhone was the first smartphone that did not have room for the classic 3.5mm jack. The trend can be traced to this day: modern flagships also come out without such a connector.

In Jet Black, the iPhone 7 was also the first model to support Qi wireless charging. In addition, the iPhone 7 was the first model to not have a physical home button. Instead, 3D Touch technology was used, which, in combination with the Taptic Engine, simulates pressing a button.

    13 iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus

In September 2017, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus went on sale. The design, again, didn’t change too much from its predecessor, but the phone looked more premium with a glass and aluminum body. The iPhone 7 with this material combination was only available in Jet Black (black onyx). It is because of this that after the release of the new model, Apple ran into problems in the market.

The new True Tone Display was supposed to give the user the best image quality. To do this, the smartphone constantly analyzes the environment and adjusts the color rendering of the display in accordance with the current lighting conditions. In both variants of the iPhone 8, the phone is powered by the A11 Bionic SoC.

The iPhone 8 is also the first Apple device to support wireless charging in all color combinations and can be charged using Qi chargers. The popular red color (“Product Red”) was also first introduced with the iPhone 8 (Plus).

Apple iPhone 8 test and review: in the shadow of the Apple iPhone X

    14 iPhone X

The iPhone X was first unveiled to the public at the same Apple media event as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in September 2017. But the new model went on sale only in November 2017. This time the design of the device was significantly improved: the appearance of the phone was now determined by stainless steel and glass, as well as the so-called “Super Retina HD Display” from Apple with rounded corners that better suited phone shape than previous models.

On the front panel, Apple for the first time installed a display with almost no bezels, which resembles the display concepts of the most current iPhone models today: there are no frames, but at the top of the display, the “notch” (cutout) immediately catches the eye. And here the iPhone X again became the founder of a new trend, which is followed by many smartphone manufacturers, decorating the displays of their new models with different cutout shapes.

But, it should be noted, the appearance of such a “bangs” has its own reason: iPhone X is the first smartphone that can be unlocked using Face ID technology, which uses a 3D model of your face. Appropriate infrared sensors and cameras are provided for this. Unlocking with Face ID proved to be much more secure than the 2D recognition that was common at the time.

With Face ID, features such as Emojis and then Memojis became possible for the first time. Users had to get used to another innovation for some time: due to the new type of display on the front of the device, there was no room at all for the familiar “Home” button. Instead, starting with the iPhone X, all new Apple phones use gesture control. In addition, the iPhone X, like the iPhone 8, runs on the A11-Bionic-SoC processor, which provides the necessary performance. Another innovation is five preset effects for capturing beautiful portrait shots with the main and front cameras.

New iPhone comparison: iPhone X vs 8 and 8 Plus

15 iPhone XS / iPhone XS Max

At Apple’s annual presentation on September 12, 2018, three new iPhone models were introduced. Two of them were iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Both devices are similar in design to the iPhone X, but for the first time Apple showed the phone in a new size with a screen diagonal of more than 6 inches (Max model).

Both phones have the same Apple A12 Bionic processor. Smartphones differ primarily in displays: in both models, Apple relies on 5.8-inch OLED screens on the XS (6.5 inches on the XS Max). In addition, the Max model has a higher resolution. XS devices also support two SIM cards – a physical nano-SIM and an eSIM.

    16 iPhone XR

    The

iPhone XR was Apple’s “secret star of the show”. It is equipped with all the technical innovations (with a few exceptions), while its price is quite attractive. The 6.1-inch screen size in the ranking is somewhere between the XS and XS Max displays. True, Apple did not rely on the OLED display, but on LCD technology. Many users were disappointed by the low resolution of the display, which is about HD. For a 2018 Apple smartphone, this was no longer modern. While the processor of the new model is similar to that of the XS series, the XR has to make do with a whole gigabyte less memory. In addition, the main memory was not as configurable as the XS models.

There is no second camera lens on the back of the XR series models, which on the iPhone XS (Max) provides lossless zoom. The display edges of this model are slightly wider, but the user also has gesture control here. The iPhone XR made it possible for customers to purchase an Apple phone with a modern design for less money. But in any case, the retail price of the new model was very high, not lower than other 2018 flagships.

    17 iPhone Pro 11 / iPhone 11 Pro Max

On September 10, 2019, Apple introduced a new generation of iPhone at the presentation. Two of its representatives were the iPhone 11 Pro, as well as the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Starting September 20, new iPhone models went on sale. The display size is 5.8 inches (iPhone 11 Pro) and 6.5 inches (iPhone 11 Pro Max). The Pro and Pro Max models feature a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera in addition to the 12-megapixel main camera and 12-megapixel telephoto camera. With the new night mode, even when shooting in the dark you should get good photos.

To this day, buyers argue about the cameras on the back of the smartphone: their location definitely resembles a spinner. Inside the iPhone, the A13 Bionic processor is running, this is the next generation of processors after those that were in the iPhone XR and XS. Since the eleventh generation, there is no longer 3D Touch technology. For the 11th generation iPhone Pro models, for the first time, Apple uses frosted glass as a material for the back panel, which makes the phones look much more noble.

    18 iPhone 11

Along with the new Pro models, Apple introduced the iPhone 11 as a direct successor to the iPhone XR. The iPhone 11 is available in six colors to choose from: White, Purple, Green, Yellow, Black, and Product Red. The iPhone 11 display is back at 6.1 inches, otherwise the design is also almost the same compared to its direct predecessor. Only the Apple logo on the back, in line with the company’s new design policy, has moved to the center.

The iPhone 11 has two cameras on the back, each with 12 megapixels. To the main camera, like the iPhone XR, another ultra-wide angle has been added. However, buyers had to abandon the tele-zoom. In terms of technical stuffing, the device is similar to its older brothers. Its price is even slightly lower than that of its predecessor XR, but the language still cannot be called affordable. The phone is again available in several colors. But the frosted glass on the back of the iPhone 11 cannot boast.

    19 iPhone SE 2020

On April 15, 2020, Apple delighted its fans with presentations of the second generation of the relatively inexpensive iPhone SE smartphone. It appeared four years after the release of the first generation and outwardly almost does not differ from the iPhone 8, while offering a much more productive stuffing.

The iPhone SE 2020 is based on Apple’s proprietary A13 single-chip system, which is responsible for the performance of the iPhone 11 line of smartphones. It received a small 4.7-inch display, only one rear camera with a resolution of 12 MP and a home button under the screen with a fingerprint scanner built into it Touch ID fingers.

20 iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max

The next generation of iPhone debuted on October 14, 2020. The most advanced representatives of the line were the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models. Both gadgets differ from their predecessors in larger displays: 6.1 inches for the first and 6.7 inches for the second. At the same time, the physical dimensions of smartphones have not changed much, all thanks to the reduced frames. The single-chip system of both models has also been updated. They use the 5nm Apple A14 Bionic with a clear focus on AI and machine learning.

But the most interesting thing is that the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max now differ not only in screen size, as was the case with their predecessors. iPhone 12 Pro Max received a more powerful set of cameras with a 5x optical zoom, optical image stabilization with a matrix shift and lidar. The iPhone 12 Pro had to settle for just 4x zoom and lidar. True, the concepts of 5x and 4x are rather arbitrary here – they describe the entire zoom range of the camera system. Optical zoom devices – only 2. 5x and 2x.

Both smartphones got MagSafe magnetic charging and received a greatly reduced package, which no longer includes not only headphones, but also a banal power adapter. The company explained this by concern for the environment.

    21 iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini

Along with the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, the Cupertino-based company also introduced the more affordable iPhone 12 smartphone. The smartphone is made of glass with a new Ceramic Shield coating. And its main difference from its predecessor was a 6.1-inch display with almost twice the resolution of its predecessor. But even more important was Apple’s long-awaited transition from IPS panels to higher-quality OLED matrices.

Like the top representatives of the line, the iPhone 12 has acquired Apple’s proprietary single-chip A14 Bionic system. As for the cameras, they have not changed much. Here, the dual rear camera is also used, which differs from the iPhone 11, perhaps with a slightly larger aperture.

At the presentation of Apple, little attention was paid to the new iPhone 12 Mini. This is not surprising, because it differs from the iPhone 12 only in a more compact 5.4-inch OLED display and a correspondingly smaller size.

22 iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

On September 14, 2021, Apple showed the new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max smartphones. Cupertino noted several key features of these gadgets at once, but the main one was the screen refresh rate that had finally increased to 120 Hz. Both smartphones use faster optics, which allow capturing 92% more light and, as a result, significantly increase the quality of shooting in the dark.

The cameras themselves received support for video in ProRes format, and the telephoto got a full 3x optical zoom. Zoom range increased to 6x. The Apple A15 Bionic chipset is responsible for the performance of smartphones, and their maximum internal memory has increased to 1 TB. The autonomy of the iPhone 13 Pro Max has increased by 2. 5 hours, and the iPhone 13 Pro by 1.5 hours compared to its predecessors.

    23 iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini

The same chipset is used by the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini smartphones presented together with the flagships. As for their other characteristics, everything here is much more modest. The refresh rate of smartphone screens remained at the same level of 60 Hz. The resolution of the cameras of the devices has not changed, but the light sensitivity of their wide-angle cameras has increased by 47% due to the larger matrix, and for better shooting quality, smartphones have received optical image stabilization with a matrix shift.

An interesting detail of the presentation was that Apple refused to compare the Apple A15 Bionic with the previous generation of SoC, instead opposing it to some abstract “competitors” from the Android camp. And this involuntarily suggests that the increase in platform performance compared to the Apple A14 no longer looks so impressive. As for autonomy, it increased by 2.5 hours for the iPhone 13, and 1.5 hours for the iPhone 13 Mini.

    24 iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus

Launched on September 7, 2022, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus smartphones were a real surprise for Apple fans. But not to say that it was a pleasant surprise. Both gadgets not only practically do not differ externally from the previous generation iPhone, but are also built on last year’s Apple A15 Bionic single-chip platform. The result was logical – in the first three days, Apple managed to sell 11% less than the iPhone 14 compared to its predecessor. Well, numerous analysts noted that such a double-digit drop in demand between generations of the iPhone is extremely rare.

However, to say that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus did not bring anything new with them is still wrong. In 2022, Apple abandoned the development of the compact iPhone mini series, and the iPhone Plus line came in its place – for the first time in several years, a larger smartphone appeared not within the Pro series. Well, in the end, users had a choice between the miniature 6.1-inch OLED screen of the iPhone 14 and the large 6.7-inch display of the iPhone 14 Plus.

In addition, the Cupertinians have updated their gadget cameras. Now they use a new 12-megapixel sensor with huge 1.9-µm pixels, f/1.5 aperture optics and optical stabilization. The TrueDepth front camera has also been updated. It uses a 12-megapixel sensor and f/1.9 aperture optics. Well, Apple habitually talks about the noticeably higher quality of the shooting of both cameras. The main innovation of this generation of iPhone was the appearance in them of two-way satellite communications, which can be used to communicate with emergency services. True, this “trick” works so far only in the USA and Canada.

25 iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

As plain as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are just as interesting. Well, the main innovation of the gadgets was the dynamic island capable of resizing, which replaced the massive bangs of all previous models of Cupertino smartphones.

Ok but needs work I think

So I picked up this device at Walmart, and it was cheep enough the app is free which is a plus for iPhone users but, the app has Improved since its last update over a year but, it still needs some work, the app is not complete, it does not show ur location along with the tags location which is really important to me anyway that’s the whole point I would think.
The recording log doesn’t work or I don’t know how to use it, the instructions were really vague on this,
The range is good but u have to walk quite a ways away before it disconnects from ur phone.
Last, it’s not all in English when u get a notification that it disconnects it’s in a different language like Japanese or something like that

    So so

I ran across this in WalMart. It was 5 bucks and the app was free which is a plus for me because I’m always trying to save a Buck. I also am a chronic loser of things so I have several of these little things on every thing that is important to me. The interface is a bit difficult to understand but these things do have potential if the developers would take the time to I improve this app. Remote recording is difficult to understand but, like I said… potential. The location log is not very accurate, that definitely needed work. The best feature is the alarm when separated. That’s how I make sure I have my keys and . To the developers, put out an undated to fix these issues B and you have a million dollar product here.

    What even.

    ..

Okay so boom… the app does not work. The silent period does not work. I can be 10 inches away from the tracker tag and it still randomly disconnects from the bluetooth on my phone as if I’m out of range.

I hear obnoxious beeping from my pocket all day at random times since the tag is on my keychain. Even though I turned that off in the app, it still beeps if I disconnect from Bluetooth! And the WiFi function? A joke! The only working function in the application is setting off the alarm with the button in the application, or vice versa, tapping the button on the Tag 3 times to find your phone.

Software version still says 1.0 in the app but 1.02 in the app store which is a pretty ridiculous discrepancy. The instructions are written in decent english out-of-the-box but the app sends notifications in odd asian symbols and its instructions in the app store are disappointingly low.

    Basic stuff works…other stuff doesn’t

Works ok if you’re in range of it, the device to the phone and vice versa, keep TagIt open in the background, and don’t turn off Bluetooth.
If you leave your keys somewhere and try to locate it using TagIt and or your phone, no way… you’re out of range and it won’t locate.
Finally, does anybody know how to use the camera and recording settings?

    Needy like a bad girlfriend

My cats get out constantly, I’ve spent $100’s to try and keep them in my back yard and at the vets to make sure they’re ok and to stay that way. $5 bucks, willing to give this a shot, they still have some bugs to work out. The alarm goes off when the clip is 4 yards or further from your phone, which is a problem on 3 acres of land and when I need to leave. The alarm also goes off when you close TagIt , you have to leave it constantly on in the back ground.

I’ll be keeping it though, I like how my phone can sound off the clip and how the clip can sound off my phone, so I’m putting them on my key chain and just turn it on before going somewhere.

By bro this app is dope as crap

you have to go to settings for it to fully work!

this product works well, but i read some reviews regarding that it doesn’t work when you exit TagIt — you have to go TO the settings on your iphone and then to the actual Tag-It app. you have to switch the location from “allow only using app” to “always allow”. that’s a very important step.

    By Unknown1000000o

    Easy and helpful

Bought the tag-it form my local Walmart and for the price thought it wasn’t going to work. But for the price why not give it a chance. Went to download TagIt an that’s all it took to get it armed an ready to help me find what ever I attached it to. Very audible easy to hear not to great on distance but works great for finding stuff around the house.

    Does it’s job, few bugs

When I looked at the reviews I was worried, but I paired it to my IPhone XS Max really easily and didn’t have a problem figuring out the system. Clearer instructions on the physics product and TagIt would make it a lot easier to deal with. Only issue I ran into is that the notification when you close TagIt is in either Mandarin or Japanese and I couldn’t figure out what it said.

    Tag-it Device review

You can’t turn off Bluetooth or close TagIt in your phone without the device beeping, which is super annoying and unnecessary. Plus it’s pretty hard to find using the location part, as it only shows you a broad rage of where it could be. You only really know it’s either at your house or someone else’s. You can find the item using the location part, just the annoying beep. TagIt needs to be updated really bad! It could be good if they fixed these bugs.

    Can you fix this??

When I go into the device settings, it’s blank where there’s supposed to be text. It only allows me to rename it. But I have no idea what the other settings are. Can this get fixed please?? I’m looking forward to using my tag. I’d like the full experience. Thank you kindly!!

    Never stays connected for me

The whole point to TagIt is to be able to locate something because it’s “supposed to be connected during setup at the very beginning of setup but mine is never connected when I need to find my keys. . it’s frustrating.. I think that this was a great idea in all but would be a big seller if only the product worked..

    Christmas Gift

I have no complaints, got this for my various day to day items, works like a charm. Set up was easy, fun, and quick. I use mine for my small vape that I lose all the time, it just helped me find it. TagIt is a huge time saver for me, thanks Dev

    By leeleeR1993

    It works?

So the device does work, however TagIt is really bad. You HAVE to have Bluetooth on and the moment u disconnect it all of ur devices will start going off, even if you have it set to off on TagIt also once you have a device on there you can’t get rid of it. I wish they would fix this then I could give this product a better review.

    Tag it

Would be awesome if it were better constructed to stay on my keys the small chain comes off daily and I wish it had a letting on it or something better that doesn’t come detached constantly and it stinks you have to leave TagIt open for it too work

Not tracking location of TagIt device

Left the device in my car, when I got some distance the alarm sounded, good! But once I got far away the map showed the location of my phone and not the this app device. Doesn’t make sense, I know where my phone is and I would use it to find whatever is attached to the TagItb device. Unless I’m missing something not very good.

    By Lojavvvv

    The app has issues

TagIt for me has no text. There’s a user interface with buttons and stuff but literally no text to show what the menu items do so it’s kind of a shot in the dark trying to figure it out.

    By Kricket129

    Not good for long distances

I bought this thinking it could help my locate my husky due to his frequent escapades when he gets out of the fence, but it disconnects once you are further than my driveway or yard. It only works for very short distances.

    By 3WORLDDD

    Works decent

Works decent the device does chirp when I hit the chirp button in TagIt so it works but TagIt needs updates I’d say on small things like tracking in the map and live location tracking

    By trust me about gaming

    Absolutely horrible

It keeps losing the connection which makes it keep beeping. ..the SECOND you close TagIt or even go to the home screen, it loses the connection. Another thing I noticed is TagIt will even close itself….it like glitches out or something…I think I paid $10 for this at Walmart and it’s a COMPLETE waste…

    By Adam Carolla listener

It’s garbage so I threw it away

The device keeps beeping incessantly. Wont stop beeping unless I turn the device off. If I turn the device off, what good is it if I lose my keys? This thing should be silent unless I press the button for it to make noise. Since it’s worthless and I want the beeping and error messages to my iPhone to stop, I threw it away. Garbage.

    Works well

Very useful and worth the money, it’s cheap and works great with my iPhone XS Max. And it pairs in TagIt , not in the Bluetooth settings for those who are having issues with pairing.

    By Mildewyfive17

    Needs a bit of work

I like the device so far but I wish it wouldn’t beep if I close out TagIt and an option to change language to English

    By Topherboy1981

    Don’t waste your money!

Bought two of these from a local Walmart and the batteries were nearly dead on both of them! After I got one to turn on, I couldn’t get TagIt or my Bluetooth to pair with it and the noise it makes is about as loud as a mouse chirp. I couldn’t imagine this device ever helping me locate anything!

    Live and learn I guess!

    Tag it Review

There are a few issues I have ran into using this, for one it peeps constantly even when I have it turned on silent mode. And TagIt crashes randomly and constantly as well. It is good in some degree but there are too many bugs that need to be fixed.

    By rolleyesatyou

    Worst tracking device ever!

My husband lost my car keys and this thing is not helping at all. What a waste! Sometimes it’ll show that the keys are in the house then next it’s at my next door neighbors house then outside in the front house. All this while we look outside if there’s anyone outside. No one. What in the world?!

Found 20 secret functions of Telegram. I bet you didn’t know?

Telegram has long been not just a messenger. This includes file storage, a place for work correspondence, and a news feed. But not all the possibilities of Telegram lie on the surface. In this article, we have collected 20 really useful features that you might not know about. For example, reminders to yourself and passwords for chats.

    Setting the notification counter

Telegram allows you to flexibly configure which notifications you will receive. You can do this in the settings. Go to “Notifications and sounds”, then pay attention to the “Message counter” section.

    For Android:

    • show counter — whether to show the counter itself;
    • chats without notifications – consider messages in muted chats or not;
    • number of messages – count the number of new messages or only the number of chats with new messages.

    For iOS:

    • channels – whether to consider messages in channels;
    • number of messages – count the number of new messages or only the number of chats with new messages.

Here you can also turn off annoying notifications that another person from your contact list has joined Telegram.

Who read the message in the group

When you communicate in a personal chat, it immediately becomes clear whether your interlocutor has read the message. But in group chats, things are not so obvious. In fact, Telegram shows who has already read the message.

For Android: tap the message to open a window with more information and commands.

For iOS: you need to hold your finger on the message until a window opens, where it will be indicated who exactly saw the message.

    Hidden text

You can hide part of a message in Telegram. This will be useful if you are sending a message that contains spoilers or confidential information. Such a message will not be read by an outsider looking into the smartphone (unless, of course, you yourself show the text with it).

For Android: to hide part of the message, select the text and tap on it. A menu will open where you need to click on three dots and select “Hidden”.

For iOS: you first need to select the text, then tap on it to open the pop-up menu. Then you need to click on the arrow, select the BIU text formatting option and then “Hidden”.

    Individual message sound

It became possible to set a personal call for each subscriber even in the days of Nokia push-buttons. It has always been useful to know who is calling before you even look at the screen. Now communication has migrated to messengers, so it would not hurt to put things in order here. In Telegram, this can be done in the contact settings.

For Android: click on the three dots in the upper right corner, select “Sound” and then “Settings”. Toggle the “Individual Settings” slider so that you can set the sound.

If your device has a missed events LED, you can even set a specific color for a missed message from a specific contact.

For iOS: this is done through the app settings. Select “Notifications and sounds”, then choose where exactly you want to change the notification sound (personal chats, groups or channels) and then go to the settings for a specific contact or chat.

    Secret menu

Some Telegram features are hidden from the eyes of the average user, but you can find them in the secret menu. Keep in mind that it is hidden for a reason. Mindlessly pushing everything is not worth it. One of the most useful features is to read all chats.

For Android: go through the side menu to the settings and scroll down to the app version. Hold your finger on the inscription until the smiley pops up, then hold your finger again until the menu appears.

For iOS: Tap the settings icon at the bottom of the screen 10 times.

    Using multiple accounts

To use the application under different accounts, the so-called cloning is useful. You can read more about this in the article “How to clone applications on Android”. But you can add a second account to Telegram using regular means.

For Android: open the side menu and click on the arrow next to the account name. Select Add Account.

For iOS: go to settings and click on the “Edit” link in the upper right corner. Select Add Account at the bottom of the screen.

    Read messages without notification

If you want to read a message but don’t want to notify the user, you can use a trick. Unlike WhatsApp in Telegram, you can’t just turn off the read report.

For Android: if you hold your finger on the chat icon in the general list, a preview window will open. In this case, the message will not be considered read. However, if there are a lot of new messages, then only the first of the unread ones will be read.

For iOS: hold your finger on the chat (not only on the icon, but on the entire line) in the general list to open the action menu. In this case, the chat window can, unlike Android, be scrolled to the end. All messages can be read without notifying the interlocutor.

    Set a password for chats

As an added security measure, you can set a password for your chats. It will be useful if your phone periodically falls into the hands of other people (for example, you give your child to play). In this case, without entering a password or fingerprint, you will not be able to enter Telegram.

Go to settings and select “Privacy”, then “Passcode”, activate and set a password.

    Delayed message and silent sending

If you hold your finger on the send message button, a menu with two functions will appear – Delayed Send and Send Silently. The first will be useful when the message should arrive at a certain moment, for example, as a reminder of a meeting.

If you don’t want to disturb the person late in the evening or after business hours, you can also send a delayed message or do it right now, but turn off the notification. The message will come quietly and will not disturb anyone.

    Favorites

One of the most famous features of Telegram, but beginners may not immediately notice it. If you need to save some message so that it is not lost, then you can send it to one of your relatives or friends. This is a rather crude, but still working way. However, it is better to do as the developers of the messenger themselves intended – to use “Favorites”.

This is, in fact, a separate chat with yourself, where you can store links, messages, media files and other information. No one but you will see it, so this storage is much more secure (but it’s still better to store passwords in other places). Also, through favorites, you can transfer photos from a smartphone to a computer on which the messenger client is also installed.

For new users, this may not be entirely obvious, as the Favorites chat (if not pinned) is easily lost in the general message flow. And in order for it to appear in the list at all, you first need to send something to it. To make it easier to navigate in the “Favorites”, you should use hashtags.

If you are going to use Telegram as a free storage, remember to auto-delete your account. After a certain period of inactivity (from 1 month to a year, depending on the settings), the data will be deleted from the servers.

    Reminder

If you try to send a scheduled message in the Favorites chat, the application will prompt you to create a reminder instead. At the appointed time, you will receive a message with the text you specified.

    Archive and pinned chats

If you use Telegram for work, it is better to hide all extraneous chats and channels in the archive so that they are not distracting. You can do this by swiping the chat to the left in the general list and selecting “Archive”.

At the same time, the archive itself can also be hidden from the general list of chats – hold your finger on the archive and select “Hide above the list of chats”. To find the archive, you need to drag the entire list of chats down.

But the most important chats, on the contrary, should be pinned at the top of the list. Moreover, this can be done both for chats from the main list and for archived chats. To do this, hold your finger on the chat in the general list and then select “Pin” (icon with a pushpin).

    Search for messages by date

During communication in instant messengers, “multi-kilometer” chats are formed, in which it can be difficult to find something. If you remember when the conversation was about, then you can immediately jump to a specific date.

To do this, either click on the date in the chat. Or first go to the search menu and then click on the calendar icon to select a specific date and go to it.

    Mark as unread

To help you remember an important message you’ve already read, you can make it unread again.

For Android: hold your finger on the chat until it is ticked, then tap on the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen and select “Mark as unread”. After that, the chat will be marked again.

For iOS: hold your finger on the chat until a new window opens, select “Mark as new”. The chat will again be marked with a blue circle.

    Translation of messages

To enable translation of messages, you need to go to the settings, then “Language” and turn on the slider “Show the “Translate” button”. In this case, you can mark the languages from which you do not need a translation.

After that, tap on the message and select “Translate” from the menu that opens. Please note that the text of the message may be accessed by Google. If you are very worried about your information security, do not use a translator, because Google already knows too much about us.

Install the client not from the app store

If you use Telegram on Android, you can install the messenger bypassing Google Play. It is safe if you use the file from the official website of the application. According to the developers, this version will be updated more often (the program itself will remind you of the release of a new version) and it has fewer restrictions. Given the current realities, getting rid of the Google store is even a sound idea in itself.

For iOS users, for obvious reasons, it is not possible to install an application not from the App Store (in fact, it is possible, but it is more difficult than on Android), but it is possible to try an alternative client like iMe Messenger & Crypto Wallet. By the way, this application is also available for Android.

    Clearing data

Applications quickly clog memory if you do not clear your smartphone in time (how to do it quickly, read our article “How to clear phone memory in one click”). Telegram has built-in tools for clearing memory.

Go to settings, then “Data and memory” and “Memory usage”. Click Clear Cache. We also recommend reducing the amount of time downloaded data is kept in memory and limiting the cache size (available on iOS). If you constantly do not have enough space on your smartphone, use our tips.

    Image editor

Telegram has a basic image editor that can be called up when sending a photo. On the photo selection screen from the gallery, click on the image to expand it to full screen.

A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, with which you can crop the image, blur, add captions, add stickers, and more. On it you can go to the account of the author of the message. If you don’t want others to highlight your account, you can disable this.

Go to Settings, then “Privacy” and “Message Forwarding”. Select “No one” to completely disable the link to your profile. You can also set exceptions for users or channels if for some reason you need it.

Here you can also set other privacy settings: prohibit adding to groups, calls from unknown people, viewing a profile photo, hiding a phone number, and more.

    Cloud Password (2-Step Verification)

To increase the security of your account, you can set an additional password that will be requested when logging into Telegram on a new device.
