Errors of line set-top boxes and cam modules

D101-0

Cause:
The TV did not manage to send service information available in the TV signal stream to the CAM module

Solution:
Switch to encrypted channel and wait 3 -5 minutes, while the TV completely transmits all service information from the TV signal to the CAM module.
Correct setting of the date and time on the TV can also help.

E81

Requires a manual update of the set-top box software.

Procedure
1. Download the update file.
2. Move the file to the root directory of the USB drive (the USB drive must be formatted to work in the FAT32 system).
3. Turn off the power of the S2-4900 receiver and connect the prepared USB drive with the update file to the USB connector.
4. Turn on the power of the set-top box and observe the information on the receiver’s display – the update will be downloaded. And when it reaches 100%, wait another minute and turn off the network, remove the USB flash drive, turn it on and the standard settings menu will appear.

E006-4, 104-2, E106-9, E106-9, E04-4

or “Status Undefined”

Causes:

• the smart card was inserted incorrectly
• contamination of smart card contacts

Causes:

• The card did not receive a non-activation command
• The command to activate this card was not sent
• The MTS smart card is installed in a third-party receiver, i. e. not a receiver or cam-module MTS (E107-4)

Solution:
Call technical support to request equipment activation

E016-4, E16, E16-4

Reasons:

• there are not enough funds on the personal account balance
• no subscription to a specific channel

Solution:

Top up your account or switch to another channel if an error occurs when trying to watch an unpaid channel package

E106-9

Causes:

• A smart card not from MTS is used
• Smart card manufacturing defect

Solution:

Use the smart card that came with the MTS set-top box/cam-module. If you use an MTS smart card, please call technical support.

E030-4, E120-4

Cause:

The date and time are not set correctly on the TV to which the TV module is connected.

Solution:

Set the correct time and date on the TV using the TV manual. If this does not resolve the errors, disconnect the TV module from the TV and reconnect it.

E019-4

Cause:

TV with cam module did not turn on for a long time

Solution:

technical support with a request for reactivation.

E133-4

Smart card for TV allows you to use more possibilities of modern digital TV broadcasting. With its help, television equipment decodes encrypted channels. How does a SMART card work and is it easy to install it yourself?

What is a smart card

This is a regular plastic card with electronic chip and ID subscriber (individual user number). It allows you to view additional TV channels not only in good resolution with a high-quality picture, but also with excellent sound.

Individual subscriber number allows the provider to manage access. Due to this, the card holder, having contacted the company’s office, can easily connect and disconnect additional broadcasting channels. Also, if the contract account runs out of funds, the operator can restrict access to services.

MTS

The mobile operator broadcasts digital channels through a smart card using the IDRETO system. The adapter, together with the chip, can be bought or rented at the brand’s cellular stores. Such equipment can also be found at specialized points of sale certified by MTS.

The brand offers a number of packages, each with a different channel theme. For example, “Basic” includes 130 general programs. Whereas satellite solutions have almost 200 channels. The latter requires additional equipment that supports the DVB-S2 standard.

Tricolor

To watch paid channels, you need to buy a provider’s branded receiver, or a separate module with DRE Crypt encryption. There are more than enough tariffs:

1. “Basic”. The most accessible on 25 channels.
2. “Football”. 6 or 2 programs to choose from.
3. “Night”. A package of 9 channels for adults.
4. “UltraHD”. Broadcasting in high quality for 4 programs.
5. “Children’s”. 17 channels for young viewers.

NTV-Plus

Upon signing the contract, the provider provides equipment for temporary use. Encoding occurs through VIAccess protocols. If necessary, you can buy a separate receiver that comes with a smart card. The equipment is sold in stores certified by the provider.

NTV-Plus offers general packages that include the current set of channels: federal, regional, culinary, etc. There are also highly specialized solutions: cinema, music, sports, etc.

Connecting this additional equipment allows you to make the most of the opportunity to comfortably receive information from the TV screen. Thanks to the purchase and installation of SMART cards from well-known providers (MTS, NTV +, Dom.ru, Tricolor TV), the user:

How to install a smart card

Such a card is installed either in a slot on the panel of the TV itself using CAM-module , or in a special receiver – as a rule, this is a branded TV set-top box of a service provider, for example, Tricolor. Before purchasing a smart card and CAM module, you need to make sure that the TV model allows the installation of such equipment. For example, modern Samsung and Lg LCD LED TV models have a slot for connecting a digital card through a CAM module on the rear panel.

Consider a step-by-step connection algorithm.

1. Turn off the TV before installing the equipment.
2. First of all, the card is installed in the CAM module. Both are provided by the provider (MTS, NTV +, Dom.ru, Tricolor TV). The module into which the SMART card is inserted is not customizable equipment, it serves as a kind of adapter. When installed, the electronic chip on the plastic card must be located at the front wall of the module (as a rule, some kind of drawing is shown on this side, for example, the logo of the service provider).
3. After, the cartridge with the card inserted into it is installed in the appropriate slot. In this case, the connectors on the installed equipment and the CI / PCMCIA input must match. It is worth noting that most modern models of Samsung and lzh TVs have a short connector for CAM module . After installation, the cartridge is more than half visible. Therefore, when installing, do not try to insert it further.
4. If the module with a SMART card is installed correctly, after turning on the TV, a corresponding entry will appear on the screen.

Most often, after installing such equipment, you need to manually configure digital broadcasting TV programs, for example, from the MTS provider or Dom.ru. For different TVs, this process has its own characteristics, and how to do this will be described below.

2. Tricolor offers only two options: fill out a special form on the website or send SMS (which one and where is indicated on the back of the card).
3. Smart card NTV-Plus is activated on the operator’s website.

Setting up paid channels on a TV device

If the adapter is inserted correctly and the TV operating system was able to identify the card, then you need to proceed to setting up channels. The procedure may vary depending on the TV manufacturer.

Channel settings from different manufacturers:

1. Samsung. Open the menu and go to the “Channels” branch. Select “Cable” as the signal source and check the box “Digital Broadcasting”.
2. LG . In the options menu, specify the country – Russia. If it is not on the list, then Germany or Finland. Go to settings and click on “Auto Search”.
3. Philips . We go to “Configuration” and find the branch “Reinstall channels”. If the system asks for a country, then we expose Russia or the one that is marked on the TV label (on the rear wall). In the menu, we specify the signal source (cable) and activate the search (section “Auto search”).
4. SHARP . Open the menu and go to the “Installation” branch, then “Auto-installation”. Choose a country – Russia (for lack of – Sweden, France or Finland). We activate the search.
5. Sony . In the menu, open “Digital Configuration”. We click on the automatic scanning of digital stations. Then we search for channels.
6. Panasonic. Open the local settings and click on the line “Add TV signal”. Put a tick on DVB-C and activate the search in automatic mode.

Some models require manual setting . In this case, you need to find out the broadcast frequency, station number and other parameters. All data must be indicated on the official website of the provider.

Important! If automatic program updating is enabled on the TV, then this function must be deactivated. Otherwise, the settings will constantly go astray.

When you can get an RTX 3060 Ti-powered machine with double the SSD space for just $100 more, it’s really hard to recommend a machine like this. 238GB of NVMe storage just isn’t enough, and the HDD won’t save you—however large it is.

Packaged snugly in a bite size box, this small form-factor Acer Nitro PC feel like it’s got a bit of a Napoleon complex going on. The angry, red LED brow on the front of the machine sits beside possibly the largest power button I’ve ever seen, as if to say, “Press it and I will end you.” Though that attitude isn’t entirely baseless—the mid-range CPU/GPU combo can handle itself in a host of games at 1440p. 

In theory, that combo should be great for productivity-style tasks, too, but the storage really lets it down. 

Bolstering a pretty miniscule 238GB PCIe SSD boot drive with an HDD (even a 1TB one) is, frankly, a mistake. Just pick a bigger solo boot SSD, people. Here it means I’m not able to play the majority of today’s games with the speedy load times an M.2 solid state drive would have provided. Case in point, the FFXIV Shadowbringers benchmark choked at 32.9 seconds when loading from the hard drive; in this day and age that’s pretty unacceptable. 

If you do manage to fit anything on the SSD, you’re looking at around 12.7 seconds load time, and even that’s a little lacking compared to other PCs in the same, and even in lower price brackets.

The 3DMark Storage Benchmark furthers my concerns there, with only a passable 1,381 index score for the SSD, and just managing an abysmal 155 points for the HDD. Basically, expect to spend a lot of time on read/write tasks. This is likely the main reason the Nitro stumbled in the PCMark 10 Express benchmark, too, with a score of 5,757.  

On the plus side, you can’t buy this exact spec. Acer has, in its infinite wisdom, decided to send us a machine for review you can’t buy. The system you can buy comes with a far more reasonable 512GB PCIe SSD for your $1,300. It’s still hooked up with a 1TB hard drive, so the data side is still slow, but that takes away a lot of our immediate issues with the Nitro 50.

That’s unlikely to change the PCMark score, which would indicate general productivity isn’t its strong suit. But the Aida64 Extreme benchmark score of 41,015 shows the dual channel 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM can handle the stresses of multitasking pretty well. 

That RAM will give you a better chance when it comes to gaming too, and once you’ve spent the majority of your day installing your games on the HDD (ridiculous), the Nitro 50 does manage to pack a punch when it comes to gaming. That’s thanks to the solid combination of entry-level core components: an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 and Intel Core i5 12400F.

Even as a last generation CPU, the Core i5’s got a lot going for it with single core Cinebench R23 scores of 1,697, and multi core scores of 11,595. That gives it an edge in rendering, and an average synthetic performance of 34.14 fps when testing with X264 v5.0.1. That’s all a good indication of the i5 12400F’s great gaming potential, and although it’s no match for the $200 more expensive iBuyPower’s Core i7 12700f in terms of multicore performance, maybe think of it as paying yourself $200 to wait a little longer for rendering.

The 4K 3DMark Time Spy Extreme benchmark did give it a little trouble though. A CPU score of 4,068 is lacking compared to other machines we’ve tested, which will be down to the RTX 3060’s contribution; this is really not the card for 4K.

In actual gaming benchmarks, the CPU saw 82fps averages in Hitman 3 Dartmoor—that’s on ultra graphics settings at 1440p, with sim quality set to best. Not a terrible score, especially when you put it next to 43 fps averages in Metro Exodus Enhanced. The F1 22 performance with ray tracing on was underwhelming at 29fps, though the test was done on the rainy Belgium track with anisotropic filtering at x16, and graphics set to ultra high. It never did drop below 26fps though, so it still remained playable. You can definitely hit smoother frame rates with a little settings tinkering, which is the general ethos of this machine.

The rest of the gaming benchmarks were all done at 1440p on ultra settings, and all were more than playable thanks to the core components, though for an additional $99 you could have yourself the NZXT Streaming PC that manages another 20fps in Far Cry 6, 18fps in Hitman Dartmoor, and 17fps in Metro. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but considering the great thermals and more impressive (and larger) NVMe SSD, it’s almost a no-brainer.

The Nitro is a nifty machine for gaming it’s really been let down on the storage side.

The main problem with high powered components, however, comes in the form of heat dissipation. The Nitro’s small form factor case with minimal vents doesn’t help in that respect; we’re talking max CPU and GPU temps in the low 80°C. It’s not the worst we’ve seen and won’t have your components melting, but it could certainly be better.

The bottom line here is that, while the Nitro is a nifty machine for gaming it’s really been let down on the storage side. The config we were expecting to have in the lab is this Nitro 50 at $1,300 with a larger SSD, though Acer has still felt the need to jam a hard drive in there. Honestly, that machine would perform at about the same level as the one in front of us here, and with that larger boot drive would have garnered a far higher score, too.

Sure, I would have been much happier with even a single, speedy 1TB SSD, rather than some additional spinning platter nonsense, but a 512GB drive is the bare minimum for a modern gaming PC. You can easily upgrade the storage later or add some more into one of the two spare M.2 slots, but these storage shenanigans really make the Nitro hard to recommend.

  A must-see if you are in the Miami Brickell area; nice and airy several levels mixed-use Mall is upscale and chic but does not feel stuffy. Several options to have a snack or seat down in restaurants it also has a unique movie theater/bar. This place is in the heart of Brickell close to the Miami River and within walking distance of other restaurants and shopping locations. Bull Ring (England, Birmingham).

The purpose of creating vertical gardens on the facades of city buildings, of course, is to purify the imperfect air of modern cities from harmful impurities and carbon dioxide. In addition, such gardens are able to reduce the noise level, create a comfortable temperature regime in the summer heat. The use of the vertical space of urban buildings allows you to feel close to nature in the stone jungle of megacities.
Until recently, the largest vertical garden, with an area of ​​844.05 sq. m, was considered a vertical garden in Spanish Madrid. But now the façades of the Fiordaliso shopping complex have taken the lead. The architect of the project is Francesco Bollani. The garden rises almost 8 meters high, and its area is 1262.85 sq.m.

Plants for the future vertical garden were grown for a year, then it took another three months to plant them according to sketches in special metal containers on the facade of the building. The plant base of the garden is Chilean moss. In total, there are 200 species or about 44 thousand plants in the vertical garden of the Fiordaliso shopping center.

The unique solution of the façade impresses not only with its beauty, but also allows to significantly reduce energy consumption, as the plants growing on the walls of the building create a natural barrier to direct sunlight, thereby helping to regulate the temperature inside the complex. “Wooden orchids” (China, Ruichang).

What you need to know about professional refrigerators and how to choose one

Professional refrigerators are appliances designed for business. They are designed for installation in shops, cafes, restaurants and other establishments. Models have increased capacity, more powerful compressors than in domestic refrigerators. Professional equipment is distinguished by a variety of forms – these can be showcases with shelves, chests, chambers with various types of doors. In this article, Miele experts talk about professional refrigerators and how to choose them.

Types and types of professional refrigerators

Cabinets are considered the most common type of professional refrigerators. In such, for example, drinks are stored in shops and bars. Manufacturers offer equipment of various models and for different purposes – conventional, for medical supplies, for aging meat and others. Refrigerating cabinets can have opaque or glass doors:

• hinged – classic, which are installed in most household models, in appliances with a large volume of doors there can be two;
• sliding – mounted on rollers according to the “wardrobe-compartment” principle.

Manufacturers also offer the following types of professional refrigerators:

1. Chambers. They have more volume than cabinets. Depending on the size, they can be supplied assembled or disassembled for subsequent installation on site. Unlike cabinets, refrigerator-chambers are installed outside the sale areas, they allow you to store a large number of products.
2. Tables. Such refrigerators are designed for cafes, restaurants and other establishments. Combine the functions of a table and a refrigerator, save space. Made of stainless steel, many models have legs with wheels that make it easy to move the equipment. Pizza refrigerated tables with stainless steel or porcelain stoneware worktops, compartments for storing chopped ingredients, and glass panels are common.
3. Showcases. Used in almost all stores and retail chains. The device is a professional refrigerator that has glass walls and demonstrates products. Manufacturers offer a wide range of different types of showcases: confectionery, freezing, universal, bar, corner, for storing fish on ice.
4. GEL. Freezers and refrigerators – in such models, stores usually store ice cream, chilled or frozen meat and fish. They are an elongated refrigerator with roller doors.

Functions and possibilities

Depending on the cost and model, professional refrigerators can have a different cooling method:

1. Static. Air circulates naturally. This lifts the warm vapors upward, dropping the cold into the bottom of a cabinet, chamber, or other model of appliance. Temperature zones should be taken into account when laying out products.
2. Dynamic. Modern models that provide forced air circulation. It creates a uniform temperature in all zones.

Most modern professional refrigerators have the NoFrost function. It avoids:

• regular defrosting of the appliance;
• frost and frost on the walls of the freezing and refrigerating chambers;
• frost on food during freezing.

The temperature regime in professional refrigerators and freezers is set in the range from 0 to +9 and from -16 to -26 degrees. These values ​​are optimal to keep food for a long time. At temperatures from 0 to +2 in refrigeration equipment, you can store fresh fruits and vegetables, chilled meat, poultry and fish. Possible unpleasant odors are removed by an activated carbon filter.

Features of professional refrigerators

The following features distinguish professional refrigerators from household models:

1. Large capacity. Designed to store as many products as possible. Manufacturers of cameras and cabinets, which are not intended for displaying goods for sale, sacrifice the aesthetic beauty of the equipment and the weight of the device, increasing the functionality and capacity.
2. Durability. Household appliances are not designed for the fact that the door will be opened 200-300 or more times a day. This can lead to constant losses of cold, malfunctions of the compressor. Professional refrigerators are equipped with more powerful motors that maintain a stable temperature with an accuracy of tenths of a degree. Doors have reinforced sealing and hinges, wear-resistant door closers ensure smooth operation.
3. Equipment. They are equipped with or allow you to install specialized shelves, storage boxes and other accessories.
4. Possibility of outdoor installation. Protected from direct sunlight.
5. Power. The increased amount of refrigerant and powerful compressors allow you to quickly reduce the temperature in freezers and refrigerators.

Professional refrigerators in the form of chambers are made of sandwich panels (stainless steel) filled with polyurethane. This ensures maximum tightness and zero cold loss.

Use

When using professional refrigerators, consider their climate class. It indicates the minimum and maximum allowable temperature values ​​in the room where the equipment is installed. There are the following climatic classes:

• SN – moderate: from +10 to +32 degrees;
• N – normal: from +16 to +32 degrees;
• ST – subtropical: from +16 to 38 degrees;
• T – tropical: from +16 to 43 degrees.

To maintain the optimum temperature, install air conditioners, built-in fans. PVC curtains are placed in the cold rooms, which reduce the heat coming from the street. If a professional refrigerator operates at a temperature not provided for by its climate class:

• electricity consumption will be increased – the compressor will work more often, additionally cooling the compartments and maintaining the set temperature;
• engine overheating is possible – at critically high temperatures (from +50), installation of equipment in direct sunlight;
• Frost/hoarfrost may form on the walls of the appliance.

When filling the refrigerator with food, take into account its maximum capacity. Protect professional equipment from the sun when using it outdoors. At critically high temperatures, install fans that cool the working components of the device.

Maintenance

Keep the condenser tube clean in commercial refrigerators with NoFrost. On it, the device removes the liquid that evaporates in the engine compartment. Also need to clear:

1. Instrument interior and accessories. The recommended interval is once a month. To do this, you can use hot water, special gentle products and gel for dishes. All accessories and surfaces must be dry before switching on the appliance.
2. Air vents. With a thin brush or vacuum cleaner.
3. Door seals. Apply warm water and gentle means.

Activated carbon air filters must be replaced every six months.

Where they are commonly used

Professional refrigerators are used in shops, cafes, restaurants. In hotels, hotels and shopping centers, special dispensing models with a payment terminal are installed – for the automatic sale of bars or drinks. In the kitchens of pizzerias, canteens, refrigerator-tables are used. They save space and make the cooking process convenient.

How to choose a professional refrigerator

When purchasing a professional refrigerator, you need to determine:

1. Minimum usable volume. Depends on the amount of food to be stored. When purchasing a freezer, pay attention to the freezing power – it is indicated in kg per day.
2. Place of installation. This depends on the type of device. For example, chests and showcases with transparent elements are suitable for installation at points of sale, in the kitchen – strict appliances with non-transparent stainless steel doors.
3. Climatic class of the device. Set the temperature level in the room where the appliance will be placed. For example, in the southern regions of Russia, it is worth choosing equipment with a climate class T (tropical). It is designed to work at temperatures up to +43 degrees.

If you’re on a budget, you can buy used equipment. To do this, you need to inspect it with a qualified specialist – the repair of a professional refrigerator and components are more expensive than for household models. When purchasing a new device, pay attention to the presence of an authorized dealer in the region. This affects the availability of spare parts and certified repairs.

Corsair is a character I kind of got off on the wrong foot with, as my earliest memories of him are me as a kid shoving aside piles of his 90s Toybiz X-Men figure while searching for the (stupidly shortpacked) first Phoenix/Jean Grey figure ever. I never bought that vintage Corsair, and never had much desire to own a toy of him. But Hasbro decided I’d need to buy Marvel Legends Corsair to complete the Ch’od Build-A-Figure (who’s already been discounted on Amazon), so here he is! ot is one of those classic X-Men characters that you can count on showing up every few years in a supporting role (most often in some rehashed Mojo plotline), hanging around for a short tenure and then slinking back into his off-page status quo. I don’t mind Longshot’s guest appearances, but I’ve long since given up on any lasting character development or changes to him. But even so, it’s been 17 years since Toybiz made their version of ML Longshot, so I was happy to smash the pre-order button when the Hasbro Marvel Legends 2023 Longshot went up for order. In a distant country, on the banks of the river, there was a miracle city. Its stone walls stretched for many miles from north to south and from west to east. Even from a high mountain it was impossible to look over the city outskirts. And those who tried to do this soon admitted their powerlessness. And they didn’t try anymore.

Only birds in their high flight could see the whole city at once. But the sharp gaze of the feathered one was unable to appreciate all the beauty that was below.

Foreigners who entered the city were amazed at its unprecedented splendor. Everything here was so beautiful and solid that it seemed truly perfect. Admiring the unprecedented wealth and luxury, the travelers thought that it was impossible for people to create such a marvelous thing. Only God could create such an outlandish place.

Nobody knew what the residents themselves thought about it. Perhaps they didn’t know it either. Only everyone from young to old repeated only one thing to all the curious: “You will not find another miracle city in the whole wide world.”

Nobody knew if they were right or not. But one thing was true – this amazing city attracted people like a magnet. And not only with its unprecedented beauty and grandeur did it attract travelers from distant countries.

The city had its own secret…

Nobody ever told about it. Even the children, and they only remained silent in response, having heard from a stranger a question about the secret of the miracle city. Neither overseas sweets nor tricky toys could get the kids talking. None of them even touched expensive gifts. Children simply ran away from curious strangers. And puzzled adults just stood in the middle of the street with toys and sweets in their hands. And again, the secret of the wonder city remained unknown to strangers. As if someone was guarding this secret from strangers.

Only a person born and raised in Wonder City could know its secret. It was necessary to keep this great secret all my life, like the apple of my eye.

For many centuries, the wonder city has been hiding this mystery. And it was reliably hidden from evil eyes and curious ears. Over time, the mystery became even more desirable than before. Again and again different people tried to ferret her out. But as soon as the foot of a stranger stepped into the city, something elusive changed. As a frightened animal hides in its hole from the enemy, so the great secret shunned strangers.

In folk tales, the mysterious city appeared in a magical light. No one even remembered what was true and what was fiction. The shaky line between them has long been erased. And in the memory of the people, only the alluring radiance remained, which always surrounded the miracle city. With bated breath, children and adults listened every evening to a gray-haired old man who told a new true story. And there was no end to them, no edge.

Leaning on his staff, the old man gazed thoughtfully at the fire and spoke slowly. Like a song, a story about a miracle city flowed easily and freely from his lips …

The miracle of motherly love. Japanese legend

In the old days, in the distant past, an old man and an old woman lived on the very edge of a small town. They traded sweet toffee ame ^* .

One dark winter evening a young woman knocked on the door of their shop. Standing outside the threshold, she timidly held out a coin of three pennies.

— Here, give me some of your ame, please…

— Why are you standing in the cold wind, mistress? Come in, warm up while we wrap up your purchase.

— No, I’ll just stand here.

A young woman took a bundle with a treat and disappeared into the darkness.

She also came the next evening. The old people began to talk among themselves:

— Who is she and why does she come at such a late hour? Doesn’t she have any other time?

On the third night the woman came again. And on the fourth, the old people realized: she didn’t leave them a coin, but a dry leaf.

– Oh, you liar! said the old woman. – Go, old man, follow her, she has not gone far yet. If my eyes were better, she would not have slipped me a piece of paper instead of a coin.

— Look, there are clods of red clay at the threshold… — the old man was surprised, lighting the lantern. And where did this woman come from? In the neighborhood we have one white sand.

He wandered in the direction where the stranger had disappeared. He looks: there are no footprints in the snow, only lumps of red clay show a trace.

“Why, there aren’t even any houses here,” the old man thinks.

Suddenly he heard the cry of a baby…

“That’s right, it seemed to me. So it’s quiet… It’s the wind whistling in the branches.”

No, a child’s cry was heard again, mournful and muffled, as if from underground.

The old man came closer. And it’s true, someone is crying under the fresh mound of the grave. ..

“Wonderful thing!” the old man thinks.

He woke up the abbot. They went to the grave with a spade.

— This one, or what? A pregnant woman has been buried here for several days already,” exclaimed the abbot. – She died of some disease, without waiting for childbirth. Haven’t you imagined, old man?

Suddenly, again, a child’s cry was heard under their feet.

They hastily began to dig with a spade. Here is the lid of the new coffin. They took off the lid. They see: a young woman lies in a coffin, as if sleeping, and a living baby is on the chest of a dead mother. And he has sweet ame in his mouth.

— So that’s what she fed him! Now I understand everything! exclaimed the old man. Great is the miracle of motherly love! There is no stronger one in the world! The poor thing first gave me those coins that, according to custom, were placed in her coffin, and when they ran out, she brought a dry leaf … Oh, unhappy, she took care of her baby even after the coffin.

Don’t trade your Samsung Galaxy for an iPhone

This season saw dazzling new flagship phones as the best Samsung phones and best iPhones hit the market, all with dazzlingly high price tags to match. Of course, if you already own a (working) smartphone (that isn’t cracked), you’ve got value in your pocket that you can trade for a new device. Be careful, though, because trade-in values vary wildly, and phone makers are just as tribal as you’d expect. 

Apple pays much less for Samsung phones than it does for iPhones. Samsung pays very well, but mostly for its own devices. Sometimes it’s even better not to trade your phone at all. We’ve done some research, and we’ll show you the best way to recoup the value of the phone you own so you can get the phone you want.

If you own an Apple iPhone…

• Apple gives you a fair trade price
• Samsung sometimes gives you more than Apple for an iPhone trade
• Selling your iPhone on Swappa is always a better idea

If you own an Apple iPhone and you want to buy a new iPhone, Apple will give you a fair price but it won’t be the best value you can get for your phone. If you have your eye on the iPhone 14 Pro Max as an upgrade to your iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple will give you $720 in trade. If you’re upgrading from an iPhone X, you should expect a measly $130 for the phone that introduced the notch and killed the home button. 

What’s strange is that Samsung will give you more for an iPhone X than Apple will. If you want to buy a Samsung phone, you can get $300 for the iPhone X. Samsung also offers the same $720 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. If you have an iPhone 13 to trade, Apple will give $470 for that phone, but it’s only worth $370 to Samsung.

If you’re thinking of trading your iPhone to Google for a new Pixel phone, Google’s trade-in values are very close to Apple, usually within about $50. However, if you want to earn hundreds more for your phone, your best bet is to sell the device independently on a site like Swappa.com.

Swappa sales will net much more than a comparable trade for an Apple iPhone. That iPhone 13 will get you $470 in trade from Apple, but on Swappa you can sell it for an average of around $700, if it’s in good enough condition. If you keep your phone in a case and your screen isn’t cracked, you can usually get someone to pony up the site’s average value.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy phone…

• Samsung gives you the best value of all
• Apple gives you half of what the phone is worth
• Swappa is good, but Samsung loyalty pays off

If you own a Samsung phone, Samsung appreciates your loyalty and will give you much more value in trade than Apple will offer. In many cases, the difference is so stark that it seems like Apple is taking a casual dig at Samsung buyers by devaluing their trade-in devices.

For instance, a Galaxy Note 10 will get you only $120 from Apple, but Samsung will thank you with $425 in trade value for that device. For the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Apple offers a paltry $370, but Samsung will throw $775 your way. That’s a considerable distance across the price gap for a new device. Apple doesn’t even recognize the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as a trade possibility. Samsung will give you $900 for giving back last year’s biggest folding phone.

Those are very good trade-in values, and if you have a Samsung phone to trade, you are better off selling it back to Samsung than selling it on Swappa. If you are looking to get an iPhone after you unload your Samsung, then you should sell your Samsung phone on Swappa first. A Swappa sale is a better way to earn value than trading your Galaxy phone to Apple.

While Samsung offers a generous $425 for that Galaxy Note 10, Swappa says you’ll get around $264 on average for that phone. If you have a Note 10 and you want an iPhone, the Swappa value is much better than the $120 from Apple. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will earn you just over $800 on Swappa, which is much better than what Apple offers for that phone – bupkus.

Better than trading to the carriers

The cellular carriers will offer much more for your trade-in phone, often up to $1000 or more at the phone’s launch. There is a catch to their deals. They do not give you the entire value of your device at once. They divide that value over installments in a contract agreement. 

If T-Mobile says it will give you $960 for your trade, what it actually means is that it will give you $40 a month for the next 24 months, as long as you remain a customer. 

If you trade in a phone to a carrier and in a year decide to switch, you’ve now lost half the value of your trade and you owe money to your carrier. You bought a $1200 phone and agreed to pay T-Mobile $50 a month, while they agreed to pay you back $40 a month for your trade.

While you’re a customer, you only owe them $10 a month for the phone. When you leave, you still have 12 months on your agreement, so you owe them the $600 for the second year of the contract. You lost the rest of your trade value. Instead of $960 for the trade, you only accrued $480.

If you are 100% sure you will stay with the same carrier for the entire payment plan, this is undoubtedly a good deal. If there is any chance you will switch, you are far better owning a phone and then selling it back to a manufacturer or, even better, selling it independently to earn back what the phone is really worth.

Trade like for like, sell before you switch 

Trading in a phone is the best way to cut down the cost of a new device, and it pays to know how to trade. If you are an iPhone owner buying a new iPhone from Apple, trading your phone is a great bet, but you can often get a little more by selling your phone on Swappa. 

If you are a Samsung or Google owner coming back to your favorite Android phone maker, your best bet is to give the phone to the company you prefer. Samsung will give you more for your Samsung phone than you’ll get from selling it, and Google will do the same for Pixel phones. 

If you want to switch, however, your best bet is to take matters into your own hands. Clean your phone, take some nice photos of it, and sell it on a site like Swappa. You’ll earn more than Apple will offer, and in some cases almost twice as much.

CONDITIONS
OF THE AGREEMENT OF PURCHASE AND SALE
through the execution of a document in electronic form

1. SUBJECT OF THE CONTRACT

1.1. Under this Agreement, the Seller undertakes to transfer to the Buyer the property that was in
the use of property (hereinafter referred to as the Goods).

The Buyer undertakes to accept and pay for the Goods in the manner and terms established by this Agreement.

1.1.1 Specified in clause 1.1. the condition and cost of the Goods are preliminary. final
the cost of the goods is determined in the manner and on the terms specified in the Contract.

1.2 The Seller guarantees the quality of the Goods transferred to the Buyer.

1.3 The Seller guarantees that at the time of the conclusion of the contract, the Goods sold do not belong to him, do not
is in dispute, is not under arrest, is not subject to bail and is burdened with other rights
third parties. In the event of claims to the Goods by third parties, the Seller independently
and settle all disputes at his own expense.

1.4 By signing the Agreement, the Seller makes the following assurances to the Buyer in respect of the goods that were in
usage:

1.4.1 The Seller is an adult and capable citizen.

1.4.2 The Seller has the right of ownership of the Goods and has the right to alienate it.

1.4.3 There are no pledges, other encumbrances or interim measures in relation to the Goods or in connection with
him.

1.4.4 The product is not counterfeit, stolen, lost or purchased as a result of
illegal actions.

1.4.5 The Seller has informed the Buyer of all defects in the Goods that are known to the Seller at the time
transfer of the Goods.

1.5 The Seller confirms his ownership of the Goods by deactivating the “Find Mac”, “Find
iPhone”, “find iPad” (depending on the Product) and removing all passwords, including EFI (Extensible
Firmware Interface) from the transferred Goods.

1.6 Goods paid for by the Buyer are non-refundable.

2. PRICE OF GOODS AND PAYMENT PROCEDURE. PROCEDURE FOR TRANSFER AND ACCEPTANCE OF GOODS

2.1. The Parties hereby confirm that the condition and cost of the Goods specified in clause 1.1. Agreements
are preliminary, as they are formed on the basis of the data specified by the Seller in the personal account
initial data about the Goods. The final cost of the goods will be formed after receiving it.

2 days by the Buyer from the Seller of a response message, without textual content confirming the fact
acceptance of the offer by the Seller, the Buyer unilaterally withdraws from the contract and the Contract
considered terminated. The goods are returned to the Seller by the forces and at the expense of the Buyer.

2.2. Payment by the Buyer of the Goods is made by non-cash transfer of funds to
card account specified by the Seller in the details of the Agreement within 1 day from the date of sending by the Buyer
“Confirmation of the condition and cost of the Goods” or the receipt by the Buyer from the Seller of a response
a message confirming acceptance of the terms of the additional agreement (offer).

2.3. This Agreement is simultaneously an act of acceptance and transfer of the Goods.

2.4. Obligations in terms of acceptance and transfer of goods under the contract are considered fulfilled from the moment
transfer by the Seller of the Goods to the Buyer (representative of the Buyer, representative of the courier service
specified by the Buyer), and the risk of accidental loss of the goods passes to the Buyer.

2.5. The ownership of the Goods passes to the Buyer from the moment of payment for the Goods.

3. LIABILITIES OF THE PARTIES

3.1. A Party that has not performed or improperly performed its obligations under this
Agreement, is obliged to compensate the other party for the losses caused by such non-performance.

3.2. In case of improper performance of obligations under the contract, the parties are liable in
in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

3.3. The parties are released from liability for failure to perform or improper performance of their
obligations under this Agreement, if the reason for such non-fulfillment is the circumstances
force majeure (force majeure): earthquakes, floods, other natural disasters, mass
riots, strikes, other circumstances of an emergency nature that the Parties could not
anticipate or prevent.

3.4. In the event of force majeure circumstances preventing the performance of one of the parties
assumed obligations under this Agreement, this Party is obliged to notify in writing
the other Party within 3 days of the occurrence of such circumstances.

4. DISPUTES RESOLUTION

4.1. All disputes and disagreements under this Agreement shall be resolved by the Parties through negotiations.

4.2. If no agreement is reached through negotiations, the dispute is resolved in court at the place of
location of the Buyer. Compliance with pre-trial order is mandatory. Consideration period
claims – 10 calendar days.

5. FINAL PROVISIONS

5. 1. The procedure for concluding the Agreement and the relationship of the Parties in the part not regulated by the Agreement,
are regulated by the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus. This Agreement is concluded by
sending by the Buyer to the e-mail of the Seller of the Terms of the contract of sale, concluded through
execution of a document in electronic form (offer) with a notification of Activation and pressing by the Seller
button “Accept offer” (acceptance). By pressing the “Accept offer” button, the Seller confirms his consent
with the terms of the Agreement. After that, the Purchase and Sale Agreement signed by the Parties, containing all
the details of the Parties necessary for the execution of the Agreement, a response message is sent to e-mail
Buyer and Seller, which confirms the conclusion of the Agreement.

5.2. The Parties recognize the legal force of the Agreement signed by the Buyer using
facsimile (photographic) reproduction of the signature of the head (authorized representative)
the Buyer and the Buyer’s seal with a photo-image.

5.3. This Agreement is recognized as concluded on the date of receipt by the Buyer and the Seller by e-mail. mail
signed by the Parties, in the manner prescribed by clause 5.1., of the Sale and Purchase Agreement and is valid until
full fulfillment by the parties of their obligations.

5.4. Any changes and additions to this Agreement made in the form provided for
the conclusions of this Agreement are valid and binding on the Parties, unless otherwise
provided for by the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus, and are an integral part
actual agreement.
