Sonos Sale: These Best-in-Class Speakers Are Up to 25% Off Right Now

Sales (Style)

Give your home the audio boost it deserves.

A Sonos sale is a rare occasion, so when one pops up, we listen. The coveted home audio brand offers excellent high-end speakers, arguably the best on the market, combining elite sound quality with sleek and attractive hardware. Typically, you can only get a deal on Sonos if you’re willing to grab a refurbished model—which, in all honesty, is a smart move since refurbs are guaranteed to work like a brand new speaker anyway.

Anyone who’s been waiting for a Sonos sale can finally stop holding their breath now. Just in time to score a gift ahead of Father’s Day, Sonos is slashing prices on its speakers and home theater sound systems by up to 25% off.

From the brand’s excellent mini portable speaker, the Roam, to its bass-heavy subwoofer, almost every GQ-approved speaker is on sale. Trouble figuring out what speakers are for you? We have a handy little breakdown of all the best Sonos speakers for every kind of audiophile. There’s really something for every kind of sound lover, whether you need a speaker to pair with your fancy turntable or you actually care who wins the Oscar for best sound mixing. Shop the Sonos sale now because we’re really not sure when (or if) this will ever happen again.

The best Sonos deals on speakers and soundbars July 2023

Sonos remains one of the brands to beat when it comes to whole-home, multi-room audio, wireless smart speakers, and streaming soundbars.

The brand that kick-started the multi-room revolution now has a whole range of audio products, from the new Sonos Era 300 and 100 to the Move and Roam Bluetooth speakers to the Sonos Arc, Beam and Ray TV soundbars. There’s even a Sonos car audio system – and, if rumours are to be believed, there might even be some Sonos headphones in the pipeline.

But which Sonos product is right for you? And where can you get the lowest price? Read on for our comprehensive round-up of every product in the Sonos family, and to see our constantly updated deals that will ensure you get the best possible price.

The best Sonos UK deals right now

  • Sonos One was £199 now £179 (save £26)
  • Sonos Roam was £179 now £160 (save £29)
  • Sonos Amp was £699.99 now £629 (save £70)
  • Sonos Premium Immersive Set with Arc was £2196 now £2086 (save £110)
  • Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc was £2596 now £2466 (save £130)

Sonos Era 300

Sonos’s latest wireless speaker is the Era 300, its first model designed for spatial audio. Hence the unique cinched hourglass design. It’s also the first third-party device to support Spatial Audio on Apple Music, and Sonos’s first speaker with both Bluetooth and line-in support (the latter comes via USB-C, though you’ll also need an adapter, which costs £19 / $19 / AU$35). The sound is superb, much more engrossing and high quality than other speakers in its class and price range, and it blows the (admittedly cheaper) Apple HomePod 2 out of the water in terms of sound quality. It’s certainly pricey though – keep an eye on the widget below for a deal.

Sonos Era 100

The Era 300 is joined by the Era 100, a less powerful model that’s not equipped for spatial audio. It replaces the Sonos One, and brings some big improvements – it outputs in stereo, whereas the One only played in mono. Like the Era 300 above, it too packs both Bluetooth and a USB-C line-in port, and a new volume slider on the top panel. Also like the Era 300, it can handle 24-bit music files from a supported streaming service like Qobuz and Amazon Music Unlimited. And the sound? Very good indeed, with a soundstage much wider than you would expect from a speaker this size. At £249 / $249 / AU$399, it’s pricier than the Sonos One it replaces, but check back on this page and you might find a bargain.

Sonos Ray

Sonos doesn’t just do premium. For proof, check out the Sonos Ray, its most affordable soundbar. There are no HDMI ports nor Dolby Atmos or Bluetooth support, but it still offers all the features and functionality of the Sonos wireless family. The sound is punchy and detailed, albeit far less room-filling than the bigger models in the range. The bass resonance issues that plagued the Ray at launch have recently been improved by a recent software update, vastly improving its performance and upgrading it to a worthwhile budget soundbar for you to consider.

Sonos Roam

Finally a truly portable Sonos Bluetooth speaker. Much lighter and smaller than the Move, see below, the new Roam is IP67 rated, meaning complete water and dust resistance and its built-in battery has the stamina for up to 10 hours of playback. The Sonos Roam comes with a USB-C charging cable and is compatible with standard Qi wireless chargers. You can use the Sonos app and get all of the normal features, or play music over AirPlay or Bluetooth. It’s a party-starting sound, too, with punch and bass, and plenty of excitement. You might get a clearer, more detailed sound from the very best Bluetooth speakers at this price, but thanks to everything Sonos offers, the Roam remains a good option.

Sonos Move

Before the Roam, the Sonos Move was the first portable Bluetooth Sonos speaker, albeit a large and heavy one. Sonos managed to deliver good quality sound, with an open delivery that goes nice and loud. Thanks to the battery and new wireless connection option, the Sonos Move is pretty much ideal for anyone who’s been waiting for a more versatile Sonos speaker. It is on the expensive side, putting it up against some stronger sonic competition, and surprisingly chunky for a portable speaker, but otherwise the Move is a fine option.

Sonos Beam (2nd Gen)

The Sonos Beam Gen 2 is simply the best Dolby Atmos soundbar at this price point. The Beam Gen 2 not only lives up to the high bar set by its predecessor (below) but exceeds it by a margin that more than justifies its new feature set and higher cost. The decision by Sonos to use processing power and forward-facing drivers to recreate Dolby Atmos has paid off with a more capable and effective handling of the format than many more expensive soundbars with upward-firing drivers.

Atmos aside, it sounds incredible, reaching deeper than the Beam Gen 1 with more refinement, a warmer treble, and wider dynamic range. Where the Beam Gen 1 might skim over certain complex sounds the Gen 2 has a greater capacity to take them on, consistently resulting in a richer, more nuanced and varied listening experience.

Sonos Beam (1st Gen)

The Sonos Beam was the first Sonos speaker to add an HDMI connection. This means it’s ideal for boosting the sound from your TV, while also giving you all the familiar Sonos multi-room music features. Voice control is here, too, and, despite being discontinued, it’s still an excellent budget soundbar if you can find one.

Sonos One

The Sonos One remains one of the cheapest Sonos wireless speakers (even more so now that it’s being replaced by the Sonos Era 100) – and now it’s even better value, thanks to a Gen 2 update. The differences between the two are slight. The Gen 2 gets Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), an updated processor, and increased memory, but the sound quality and feature set remains the same. And you can make a saving on the Sonos One right now.

The best Sonos soundbar? It just might be. The Sonos Arc isn’t cheap but it does add Dolby Atmos to the party and deliver the most impressive version of surround sound we’ve heard from a Sonos speaker, and indeed, one of the best from any soundbar on the market. And of course it’s also a multi-room wireless speaker with app and voice control, plus access to practically every music streaming service on the planet.

Sonos Playbase

If you prefer a soundbase to a soundbar, then the Playbase is your only option where Sonos is concerned. Actually, make that was your only option, as it too has been discontinued. It creates a big, broad soundstage and a solid, natural bass. It’s also aesthetically stylish and reassuringly well put together. The treble can be a bit edgy when it gets really loud but it’s still a fine buy if you can actually find one that’s discounted.

Like the majority of Sonos’s wireless speakers, the Play:3 is another cracking performer and if you can find one, then you should get a good price. Again, maybe a refurbished or, as Amazon calls it, renewed model. No touch-sensitive controls or voice assistants, but all the control and streaming functionality of the Sonos family is there. Sonos Sub Mini

The Sub Mini is designed to mix and match with any of Sonos’s full range speakers. Though because of its diminutive size, it’s recommended to partner with some of its smaller, more affordable models such as the Beam Gen 2, Ray, One, One SL or Symfonisk speakers in small to medium-sized rooms.

Connectivity is via a low-latency 5 GHz WiFi connection, which means the Sub Mini only requires a cable for power. Once added to a soundbar or speaker system, volume changes between the two are linked automatically. However, bass level and EQ can be adjusted independently in the Sonos app, where it can also be optimised to the acoustics of your space using Sonos’s Trueplay tuning technology.

With a space-saving cylindrical design measuring just 23cm by 30.5 cm, the Sub Mini uses a clever driver layout to help maximise its performance while producing a claimed low-frequency response down to 25 Hz. The Sub Mini could be the ideal choice for those looking to bring a touch of low-end to a smaller space.

  • Sonos Era 100 vs Sonos One: which Sonos smart speaker should you buy?

TODAY’S BEST DEALS

Xencelabs are the new kids on the block in the graphics tablet world. The team includes ex-Wacom employees, and they’ve put all their design and industry know-how into the Pen Display Medium – it’s as user- and artist-friendly as you’d hope. We tried the Pen Display Medium Bundle, which comes with the Xencelabs Pen Tablet, two pens (the 3 button and Thin Pen) and a case, a Quick Key remote, and other bits like a drawing glove and a very nice soft tablet carrying case, all for just $359. 99 / £319.99.

So far, so good, but how does it measure up compared to the other tablets in our best graphics tablet guide? Read on to find out more.

The pen tablet has been designed with the user in mind (Image credit: Ben Brady)

Xencelabs Pen Display Medium sits just under a 13-inch MacBook in size, neither too big nor too small, and at only 8mm thick it looks and feels like a very nice piece of design. It has an ergonomic curved front edge, which feels like the user’s comfort has been taken into account. This is especially welcome considering those long hours spent drawing.

  • Xencelabs Medium Pen Tablet Bundle (Black) at Amazon for £329.99

The tablet seems super sleek and well made – from the texture, or ‘tooth’, of the active drawing zone, to the metal alloy underside with six rubber non-slip pads, it all adds to a build quality you might expect from a more premium piece of kit by someone like Wacom – an Intuos Pro medium would be a fair comparison.

Xencelabs tablet specs

Product Dimensions: 12.61 x 9.16 x 0.3 in / 320.5 x 232.85 x 8mm
Active area size: 10.3×5.8 in / 262.4×147.4 mm
Active area aspect ratio: 16:9
Pen: Battery-free
Pressure levels: 8192 levels
Weight: 710.5 g
Ports: USB-C to USB-A

The active area is delineated by four corner LEDs you can customise in eight different colours. It’s a nice addition. You can set different colours for different programmes, for example, when they light up blue, you know you set for Photoshop, pink for Affinity, yellow for Corel, etc, or whatever you like.

Three small buttons sit at the top of the tablet, fully customisable of course. They seem perfect for accessing the tablet or pen settings, for example, or for switching programmes. You may well ask – where are the rest of the shortcut buttons, so common on graphics tablets? And that’s where the Quick Key Remote comes in. ..

Xencelabs pen tablet: Quick Key Remote

Customise with ease with the Quick Key Remote (Image credit: Ben Brady)

Because Xencelabs seems to be all about the refinement and attention to detail on a single product (meaning the bundle as a whole), those quick key shortcuts have been lifted off the tablet, save the three primary buttons, and configured, if you will, into this very cool, separate, OLED display and nine-button remote with physical wheel dial.

The remote itself is as nice a build as the tablet and is customisable with up to 40 shortcuts. The best thing about it is its ability to configure by colour too, just like the tablet itself. A bit of time spent in the settings means a relatively easy configuration of dial sequences, which is perfect for scrolling, zooming, rotating, and changing brush sizes. Just assign a colour to each job.

You can configure the eight buttons into different sets for different art jobs, so to speak – Set A for sketching, B for editing, C for colouring etc. The OLED display makes it easier to remember which button is set to what, when in each configuration. If that all sounds a bit like too much trouble – it really isn’t. Compared to other drawing tablets, this, as well as the initial set up and driver installation, is pretty easy and stress free. Xencelabs has got the user’s experience from beginning to end in mind, and it shows.

Xencelabs pen tablet: stylus/pen

Ooh la la (Image credit: Ben Brady)

Opening up and unboxing the Xencelabs pen tablet medium bundle is pretty satisfying, even surprising, especially considering the cost. It’s when you uncover the pen case that it really gets a bit ‘ooh la la’. The pens also have a nice weight –reminiscent of an old fountain pen.

Wacom sells its slim pen separately, but Xencelabs includes one with the Pen Tablet medium. So, you get a regular three-button pen and a slim two-button pen, both with ‘erasers’ on the opposite ends (or whatever you want to configure them as). I spent most of my time using the slim pen and not even bothering with the regular, but it is nice to have a choice.

Being able to customise both pens to different settings is a nice touch –  you can grab one for shading or light pencil work, and use the other for inking or painting in, for example. It saves a great deal of time having to go back into the settings and reconfigure each time you want something different.  Both pens have the standard (and very high) levels of pressure sensitivity, and 60 degree tilt functions, as standard. The drawing experience with the pens is really very good – no lag, smooth lines, and no marks missing when sketching at speed.

Ten extra nibs are included in the case, four of them felt (as in the material) for extra ‘tooth’, plus a nib extracting ring.

Xencelabs pen tablet: power

The Xencelabs medium pen tablet bundle comes with a USB-A to USB-C connector (Image credit: Ben Brady)

The pen tablet and Quick Key Remote both link up with to your computer via USB (USB-A to USB-C connector included) and once charged, are both connected to the tablet wirelessly via bluetooth – with a dongle included in pen case. The battery of both the tablet and remote lasted a fair few hours. The pen takes less than an hour to fully recharge (whilst using it), and the remote about half an hour. The pens are of course completely battery free.

Xencelabs tablet: price

All this (except the Apple keyboard) for $359.99 / £319.99 (Image credit: Xencelabs)

The cost of the bundle is very reasonable: $359.99 / £319.99. This includes the Xencelabs Pen Tablet, two pens (the 3 button and Thin Pen) and case, the Quick Key remote, a drawing glove and a very nice soft tablet carrying case.

The Tablet alone is $279.99 / £259.99, the remote $89.99 / £79.99, and the regular and thin pens $49.99 / £35.99 and $46.99 / £33.99 respectively. The bundle is clearly a bargain. It is significantly more than an XP-Pen Deco Pro at $129.99 / £129.99, but worth the hike in price due to the design build, quality and expertise that has gone into it.

It sits around the same price as a Wacom Intuos Pro Medium $379. 95 / £329. Both the XP-PEN Deco Pro and the Wacom Intuous Pro Medium are comparable to the Xencelabs Pen Tablet Medium in terms of their technical prowess.

Xencelabs tablet: should you buy it?

Between the Deco Pro and the Intuous Medium and this tablet, Xencelabs comes out on top. The Xencelabs Pen Display Medium bundle is a clear signal that the Xencelabs team are serious competitors in this market, offering a capable tablet and accessories set that is understated yet very cool, for a sensible price. Whether you’re a professional or are just starting out, we recommend Xencelabs Pen Display Medium Bundle.

Xencelabs Medium Pen Tablet Bundle

This is an ideal pen tablet for illustrators, digital painters and photographers who want a reliable, solidly built piece of equipment. It’s easily portable, wireless and pretty much flawless in performance.

Wacom Cintiq 22 review | Creative Bloq

Our Verdict

The Cintiq 22 has the lowest price Wacom has ever offered for a drawing display of this size, with a well-judged feature set that enhances your drawing comfort. You can still get similar products for less, but Wacom’s emphasis on quality makes this a compelling option.

For
  • Keen price point
  • Very good drawing experience
  • Built-in adjustable stand
Against
  • Costs more than its direct rivals
  • Relatively low screen resolution
  • No built-in shortcut keys

Why you can trust Creative Bloq
Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

TODAY’S BEST DEALS

The Wacom Cintiq 22 is the latest model in the company’s drive to make this famous digital art brand a whole lot more affordable. Within Wacom’s overall product line of electronic drawing aides, many of which can be found in our round up of the best drawing tablets, the Cintiq is a flat-screen display for your computer, which you can draw on with the provided stylus.

The range is neatly divided into two: Cintiq offers relatively basic displays at lower prices, while Cintiq Pro provides a premium experience – particularly a 4K display in larger models – with prices to match. The Cintiq 22 joins the Cintiq 16 in the more affordable sector.

  • Wacom Cintiq 22 (Black) at Amazon for £899.99

The Cintiq 22 offers a full HD screen (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) – the same screen resolution as the smaller Cintiq 16. That immediately means there’s an important trade-off between the two: the Cintiq 22 gives you a physically larger drawing area for more comfortable, expressive arm movement while drawing, but the screen image is less sharp than on the Cintiq 16.

While the picture on the Cintiq 22 is a little soft compared with other Cintiq models, it’s comfortable to work from – and in all other respects, the drawing experience is excellent. The larger size compared with the Cintiq 16 really matters when you’re in an extended drawing session: it frees you up to make more extensive pen strokes.

The Cintiq 22 gives you a physically larger drawing area, but the image is less sharp than on the Cintiq 16 (Image credit: Wacom)

Apart from resolution, the other potential drawback of this display compared with the Cintiq Pro line is the colour gamut – how many colours the screen is capable of displaying. The quoted gamut for the Cintiq 22 is 72% NTSC, which puts it in the same league as a budget monitor. Cintiq Pro displays have a colour gamut of 94% NTSC. While that technical difference sounds damning, bear in mind that the Cintiq 22 is able to present 96% of the range of colours supported by the sRGB colour profile, which many designers and illustrators apply to their images by default.

The Cintiq 22’s screen surface is well-considered. The anti-glare glass surface is laminated to give it a slight texture, which gives a pleasing sense of bite as you move the stylus across it.

The technology that enables the Cintiq 22 and similar drawing displays to work means there are two planes you interact with: the glass you draw on, and the actual screen presenting the image you’re drawing. Too great a gap between the two leads to a disconcerting disconnect between the point of your stylus and where your pen mark appears on-screen. The Cintiq 22’s gap is perfectly acceptable, although you don’t get the almost supernatural sense of connection the advanced optical bonding technology of a Cintiq Pro gives you.

The Pro Pen 2 is very comfortable to draw with (Image credit: Wacom)

The provided stylus, the Pro Pen 2, is easily capable of capturing your creative gestures: it offers 8,192 levels of pressure-sensitivity, as well as tilt sensitivity, where the angle at which you hold the pen affects the stroke. The stylus doesn’t need a battery either: it takes the power it needs from the electromagnetic properties of the screen. The same is true of the pen that comes with the rival Huion Kamvas Pro 22, but the cheaper XP-Pen Artist Display 22E Pro’s pen requires periodic recharging.

While there are other Wacom pens available, few artists should have any complaints with the functionality of the Pro Pen 2, and it has a satisfying heft that makes it comfortable with draw with. The Cintiq Pro line comes with the same pen, although the Pro’s advanced drawing surface allows the use of soft felt nibs.

A stand built into the Cintiq 22 enables you to tilt the display to your preferred drawing angle. It’s a better solution than in the Cintiq 16, which uses foldable legs that tilt the display to a fixed angle.

While conventional drawing tablets without a display, like Wacom’s Intuos line, are capable of working over a wireless Bluetooth link, that isn’t yet realistic for a combined tablet and display. The Cintiq 22 uses USB-A for its drawing tablet connection, so you need an adaptor if your computer only has USB-C ports; and HDMI for its display connection.

Perhaps the most notable feature of the Cintiq 22 becomes apparent when you compare it with the model it replaces in Wacom’s lineup, the Cintiq 22HD. It’s a fair bit cheaper, at around $1,200 / £860 / €990 versus its predecessor’s $1,400 / £1,300 / €1,200. (The difference is most pronounced in the UK.) That still doesn’t put it in the same price bracket as the Huion Kamvas Pro 22’s $900 / £680 / $775 or the XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro’s $400 / £500 / €550, but it’s still clear that Wacom is responding to the threat posed to its market-leader status.

The older Cintiq 22HD has a stand that rotates as well as tilts, plus ExpressKey shortcut keys to help you access favourite commands in your chosen software. However, the newer Cintiq 22 has a superior pen and a matt rather than smooth screen surface. As well as the price drop, you get a materially better drawing experience. If you miss the 22HD’s shortcut keys, you can buy Wacom’s ExpressKey Remote for $100 / £100 / €130 for the Cintiq 22.

The benefits of the Cintiq 22 compared with the Huion Kamvas Pro 22 and the XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro are more intangible. They’re a pretty close match for key features, although both rivals offer built-in shortcut keys. The Cintiq 22 still has a better overall feel, however, with superior build quality in both the display and the pen. You have to weigh up the immediate gain of lower prices against the longer-term benefits of the Cintiq 22 just feeling a little more satisfying to work with. It’s a distinction that may not wash with the Cintiq 22’s target audience of students, keen non-professionals and jobbing artists.

Top 10 Pen Tablets with Drawing Screen

The way a pen tablet works is as simple as it gets: you connect your tablet to your computer and draw with an electronic pen on the tablet as if you were drawing with a pencil on paper. The tablet transmits pen movements to the drawing program, and you see the drawing on the screen. The graphics tablet is the main tool of the digital artist. A graphics tablet with a screen makes this task even easier: what you draw appears right on the tablet itself. Just like a piece of paper and a pencil. And if it seemed to you that such a device is not in demand or is in demand in a narrow circle, you will be surprised to learn about the variety of these devices on the market. So how not to get confused and choose the right graphics tablet with a screen for drawing? In this article, we have collected information about ten popular models, and now we present our mini-review to the reader.

How to choose a good graphics tablet?

The choice of graphics tablet should be based on a detailed study of the following indicators:

  • workspace – experts say that working on a large device is much more convenient, since you do not have to move the canvas to change the scale. The minimum working size is A6 – the optimal solution for retouching;
  • resolution – allows you to determine the sensitivity of the working area to pen movement. For most graphic tasks, 2000 lpi will be enough;
  • connection type – wireless models are considered the most convenient to use. However, if you plan to work with a desktop computer, you can also purchase a wired device;
  • pen specifications – Consider pen type, accuracy, and maximum reading height. It is also worth paying attention to the strength of the plastic.

    Hot Blending

    No

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is a sturdy full-size blender with a 72-ounce pitcher. It has a simple design, with three speed presets and a pulse mode. The lid for the jar has a pouring spout, but it doesn’t come with a tamper or 2-part lid. The jar, lid, and removable blade assembly are all dishwasher-safe.

    Our Verdict

    6.5

    Multi-Purpose

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is okay for multi-purpose use. It’s well-built and comes with a large-capacity main pitcher. It’s fantastic for crushing ice and can produce smooth, spreadable nut butter. It makes a good single-serve smoothie in its main jar but struggles to make a smooth puree with big batches of fibrous ingredients like kale. It also can’t be used for hot blending and doesn’t offer very many speed settings or preset modes, which some may find limiting. Fortunately, it’s very easy to clean by hand, and all of its parts are dishwasher-safe.

    Pros

    • Makes snow-like crushed ice.

    • Dishwasher-safe and easy to clean by hand.

    • Good build quality.

    Cons

    • Can’t hot blend.

    • Limited controls.

    7.4

    Smoothies (Single Serving)

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is decent for making single-serve smoothies. It can make a good-textured single-serve drink with fibrous ingredients like kale, but you need to blend for a long time to get the best results. The jar isn’t the easiest to clean by hand, but on the plus side, it’s dishwasher-safe.

    7.6

    Smoothies (Multiple Servings)

The Ninja Professional Βlender 1000 is good for making multiple servings of smoothies. It struggles to fully blend big batches of fibrous ingredients, so your smoothie will have a grainy texture if you add something like kale. However, it’s well-built and has a big capacity. The sharp blades make it hard to clean by hand, but it’s dishwasher-safe.

    9.7

    Ice Crushing

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is outstanding for crushing ice. It has a good build quality, with a sturdy-feeling motor base. Using ‘Pulse’ mode, it takes about 30 seconds to make snow-like crushed ice.

    Pros

    • Makes snow-like crushed ice.

    • Dishwasher-safe and easy to clean by hand.

    • Good build quality.

    4.7

    Soups

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 isn’t safe for hot blending, so you have to let your ingredients cool before using it for recipes like soup. Its 72-ounce main pitcher fits most recipes in one batch, but it struggles to make a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients like leafy greens.

    7.2

    Professional Use

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is decent for professional use. It has a sturdy build quality and a big 72-ounce (or 64-ounce liquid) capacity. It’s not too loud when it’s running and does a fantastic job of crushing ice. It can handle tough jobs like making nut butter. However, it makes a grainy puree with fibrous ingredients like kale, so it’s not ideal for making smooth soups or multiple servings of smoothies. Unfortunately, you can’t use it to blend hot ingredients. The jar doesn’t have a two-part lid, so there’s no way to add ingredients mid-blend, and it doesn’t offer a very wide range of speed settings, which is a bit limiting.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 comes in one variant with a black and silver color scheme. You can see the label for the unit we tested here. If you come across another variant, please let us know in the discussions, and we’ll update our review.

    Compared To Other Blenders

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is a budget-friendly full-size blender. It comes with the same 72-ounce jar as Ninja Blender Duo with Auto-iQ BL642 and Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ, but it’s much quieter when running and is much better for making nut butter. It also has simpler controls, with no preset modes or extra accessories like personal jars. It does a fantastic job crushing ice, but unlike the Oster Pro 1200 or KitchenAid K150, you can’t use it for hot blending.

Check out our picks for the best blenders for smoothies, the best blenders, and the best Ninja blenders.

The NutriBullet Blender Combo and the Ninja Professional Blender 1000 have different strengths, and you may prefer either, depending on what you’re looking for. The NutriBullet comes with a pair of personal jars with to-go lids for single-serve drinks and makes better blends with fibrous ingredients. You can also use its main jar to blend hot ingredients for recipes like soup. On the other hand, the Ninja is much more suitable for tough tasks like ice crushing and making nut butter.

The Oster Pro 1200 is a more versatile blender than the Ninja Professional Blender 1000. The Oster comes with a 48-ounce glass jar and an additional personal jar for single-serve smoothies with a matching to-go lid. It makes a much smoother blend with fibrous ingredients, so it’s better for smoothies and soups. On the other hand, the Ninja is better for crushing ice. It has a much better build quality, and its main jar has a bigger capacity.

The Vitamix Explorian E310 is better than the Ninja Professional Blender 1000. The Vitamix has a significantly better build quality and a more versatile performance since it can hot blend. It’s better at processing small and big batches of fibrous ingredients and easier to use to make nut butter. It’s also much easier to clean by hand. However, the Ninja is quieter and does a slightly better job of crushing ice in its main pitcher.

The Ninja Professional Blender NJ601AMZ is the next generation of the Ninja Professional Blender 1000. The two have similar overall performances, but the 1000 has a slight edge because it’s better-built and quieter. The NJ601AMZ processes big batches of fibrous ingredients a little faster, but it’s a marginal difference.

The Ninja Professional Plus Kitchen System with Auto-iQ and the Ninja Professional Blender 1000 have different strengths. The Auto-iQ has more extra features, including personal jars and a food processing bowl. You can use the smaller jars to make significantly better single-serve smoothies. It has a few preset modes and a timer that shows you how much time is left during the blending cycle. The 1000 has a simpler design, but both blenders make snow-like crushed ice. The 1000 is also a bit quieter when it’s running.

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is a bulky full-size blender that needs to be stored on a kitchen counter or in a spacious cupboard. You can also remove the jar for easier storage.

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 has good build quality. The motor base is made of plastic that feels sturdy and has rubber feet to help keep it from moving around on your counter. The black plastic platform that the jar sits on feels robust and holds the jar steady. The jar needs to twist into place and the lid locked on before the blender can operate.

Unfortunately, the control panel feels cheap, and the buttons, when pressed, lack proper clicky feedback. The ‘Medium’ button feels less clicky than the others. The jar lid feels flimsy, which isn’t ideal since it contains the safety mechanism that prevents the blender from starting without the lid on. The plastic base of the jar feels fragile and seems prone to shattering if it knocks against something. While it’s not something we experienced with our unit, some users have reported that bottom of the jar cracks easily or begins to leak over time.

    Lock Mechanism

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000’s lid is made of plastic with a rubber gasket on its underside. There’s a spout-like opening on one corner with a clear plastic cover that flips open. It can help with pouring, but it’s not considered a 2-part lid because the opening is too small for adding ingredients. You also can’t fit a tool like a tamper through it to stir your recipe, although the stacked blades would get in the way and make it difficult to use a tamper anyway. The lid has to be locked onto the jar before the blender will operate. To lock it, you need to align the triangle symbol on the lid with the triangle symbol on the jar’s handle, then push it down on the lid’s handle until it locks into place.

    Fibrous Ingredients Texture

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is decent for small batches of fibrous ingredients. It makes a grainy puree with ingredients like kale, but the grains are small, and the texture is good overall. However, you have to blend for a long time to get this result.

    Jar Used

    Fibrous Ingredients Processing

    Fibrous Ingredients Texture

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is okay for large batches of fibrous ingredients. However, even if you run the blender for a long time, it makes a grainy puree with ingredients like kale. There are more, bigger unprocessed bits than in the small batch.

    Crushed Ice Preparation

    Crushed Ice Texture

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 easily crushes ice cubes into snow-like crushed ice. Like most full-size Ninja blenders we’ve tested, it takes about 30 seconds to crush 12 ice cubes with ‘Pulse’ mode.

    Nut Butter Preparation

    Nut Butter Texture

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 does a great job of making nut butter. If you use the ‘Pulse’ button to break up the almonds and then blend at ‘Ηigh’ speed, it makes a very smooth, very spreadable butter. Unlike with some blenders, like the Vitamix Explorian E310, there may be some unprocessed bits or powder caught around or under the blades. It’s not the easiest blender to use for tough tasks like making nut butter since it takes a while, and you need to stop the blender a few times to scrape the sides of the jar with a spoon or spatula.

    Noise @ Max Speed

    90.7 dB

It’s not very loud for a full-size blender. It still makes a lot of noise, like all blenders, but it doesn’t become irritating as quickly as blenders like the Ninja Smart Screen or the NutriBullet Blender Combo.

Similar to other full-size blenders from Ninja, there isn’t a huge difference between the low and high-speed settings. The maximum speed isn’t very fast compared to blenders like the Oster Pro 1200, so it may be less well-suited for making smooth purees with fibrous ingredients.

The Ninja BL610 has simple controls, with buttons for three speed presets and a pulse mode. There’s also a power button that acts as an on/off toggle. If you’re looking for a blender with automatic blending programs, you might prefer the Ninja Professional Plus Blender DUO with Auto-iQ.

The Ninja Professional Blender 1000’s extremely sharp blades make it hard to clean. The blade assembly is removable, but you need to be very careful not to cut yourself when you’re cleaning it. Running the blender with soap and water can take care of a good amount of residue in the jar and on the blades. However, there’s a small hole on one end of the blade assembly that connects to the lid’s locking mechanism. Debris can accumulate there and is difficult to reach unless you have something long and thin like a pipe cleaner. You may also need to wipe the lid’s gasket with a sponge and open the lid’s spout cover to take care of any remaining residue.

Ninja Pro Blender 1000 at Costco Review

    Costco

    ByAmber
    Updated onCostco

I was in need of a new blender recently and was happy that I found the Ninja Pro blender at Costco.  I quickly read the reviews online and figured that if it didn’t end up working out, at least I could return it to Costco since the Costco return policy is one of the best.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after trying out this blender, I can honestly say that I am very happy with my purchase.

    Details

    • $69.99 at my local Costco.
    • Item number 3883930
    • Located in the kitchen section.
    • Total crushing technology.
    • Frozen blending.
    • Dishwasher safe.
    • BPA free.
    • 1000 watt motor.
    • 50 page recipe book included.
    • 72 oz pitcher.
    • Lid with Pour Spout.

    Everything in the box

When you first open the box you will see the included cookbook and owners manual. The cookbook features over 50 different recipes that you can make using the blender.

Also included is the 72 oz clear plastic pitcher, locking lid with pour spout, and blender base. The blender has low, medium, high, and pulse blending options.

    Features

The Ninja blender is known for its total crushing technology. Which crushes through ice and frozen ingredients in just seconds. This is made up of a stacked blade assembly. I was surprised to see how big and sharp the blades were.

The blades are also stacked so that they blend from the bottom, middle and top of the blender instead of just blending from the bottom like some other blenders.

These sharp blades are what makes the blender able to crush and blend through ice and other frozen ingredients. This makes it perfect for blending creamy fruit smoothies.

These stacked blades are also removable, so you easily take them out for cleaning. Just be really careful when handling them, they are very sharp.

The blender lid locks when in use, and then you can release the locking lid to lift the handle.

There is also a small pouring lid on the top which is very convenient.

    How Did it Work?

When I purchased the blender I had no idea what to expect, but there were almost 4,000 4. 7 out of 5 star reviews on the Costco website, so I figured that it must be pretty good.

I also never worry too much about not liking something that I purchase at Costco. I know that I can return almost anything that doesn’t work out, because the Costco return policy is one of the best!

After using the blender I can definitely say that I am 100% happy with my purchase, and I don’t think I will be having to return it.

We make a ton of smoothies in our house, and our old blender just didn’t blend and crush the ice very well.

The Ninja Pro Blender 1000 has no problem crushing large ice cubes, and even whole frozen strawberries and other fruit.

It’s easy to use and the 1000 watt motor combined with the stacked blade assembly blends the ingredients fast. At the time of writing this review, we have used it daily since purchasing it about 2 months ago. It is still going strong, and we have been enjoying perfectly blended smoothies.

Just be careful that you don’t cut yourself when handling the sharp blades. My daughter and I both ended up getting a little cut. Make sure that when you are handing the blades you always grab them from the top black plastic section.

    Cleaning the Blender

I have found that cleaning the Ninja Pro Blender 1000 from Costo is actually really easy. Since all the pieces are removable, I just put the pitcher, stacked blades, and the lid in the dishwasher.

At first I was worried that the blade assembly might be hard to remove, but it just lifts out very easily. You don’t even have to twist it, you just have to make sure you only handle it from the top of the assembly.

    Final Thoughts

This is definitely the best blender that we have owned. It works great, is easy to clean and blends fully frozen ingredients in just seconds. Since good blenders can sometimes cost over $500 I thought that the $69.99 cost of the Ninja Pro Blender 1000 at Costco was a great deal.

Watch for it to go on sale, as Costc will sometimes have a $15 off sale at certain times of the year.  Overall we are very happy with our purchase and have been enjoying some of the best perfectly blended smoothies. If you are looking at purchasing a blender, I would definitely recommend this one!

How to use a blender correctly – rules for 2 types of appliances

A blender is a useful thing. But in order for it to work properly and solve the task assigned to it as it should, it is important not only to choose the appropriate option, but also to be able to use the device correctly. This article tells you what blenders are and convinces you that there is nothing difficult in using such a technique. The subtleties of working with devices will help not only achieve the desired result during cooking, but also make sure that the blender will last much longer than the warranty period.

    What are blenders?

Before proceeding to the nuances of the correct use of the blender, it is necessary to understand their types. There are only two main types of such grinding kitchen appliances – these are submersible and stationary models.

See also: Which blender is better to buy – submersible or stationary: choose from 2 options

How to work with a submersible or hand blender?

How can I use an immersion blender? Basically, whatever. It is able to grind meat and poultry, cheese, fish, hard vegetables and fruits. Suitable for making minced meat (meat and vegetables), smoothies, purees.

It should be noted that not every appliance is capable of grinding coffee beans. Firstly, this requires a certain power (at least 600 W), and secondly, a special nozzle. If the blender is not very powerful, it is better not to throw raw carrots and potatoes there: alternatively, vegetables can be boiled or a little liquid can be added to the bowl.

Interesting: The 800-watt SHB4362GR can even break ice.

When using a hand blender, you must use a container with a capacity reserve. This will keep the ingredients from flying apart. The complete bowl also does not need to be filled to the end. The volume indicated by manufacturers is total. Useful, usually 15% less.

If you need to use the device to grind a small amount of ingredients, you still need to fill the bowl with them to the minimum division on the measuring scale. If there is no such scale on the container, then it is important that the leg is completely immersed in its contents with knives.

    Incorrect :

    1. Whisk, chop products with temperatures above 70 degrees;
    2. Grind vegetables/fruit/meat with bones. Bones must first be removed.

Topic: TOP 10 best immersion blenders

The subtleties of working with a stationary blender

This technique is ideal for making cocktails, sauces and pureed soups. It is not difficult to use the stationary version:

    1. Before placing the products in the bowl, they must be crushed to make the task of the blender easier.
    2. Replace bowl.
    3. Cover with lid.
    4. Press the button and wait.

Advice : If you need to make a soup for a couple of days or a few cocktails for a party, the powerful Russell Hobbs 22990-56 Easyprep with an almost two-liter bowl will do.

Terms of use are also available:

    • As with hand-held devices, it is not recommended to load hot food into the bowl of a stationary blender. At a minimum, it will quickly lose its original transparent appearance and may turn yellow.
    • Do not try to load the bowl to the limit. This will not give the desired result: the technique simply cannot cope with such a volume. If the mistake is repeated regularly, the device can be broken.
    • The optimal minimum, which is usually marked on the bowl, should also be observed. When idling, the device wears out and deteriorates no less than when overloaded.

Advice : Regardless of blender type or manufacturer, it’s a good idea to read the instructions before use.

    Nozzles for blenders

Basic nozzle – chopper knife – is always there. With its help, the blender performs standard actions: prepares sauces and purees, cuts. Complete with many models, in addition to the basic accessory, a whisk for beating eggs is supplied. With it, you can cook meringue, knead a sparse dough.

A small mill knife is also quite common. The MX-GX1011WTQ also has it. With this additional tool, you can grind nuts, spices, coffee beans. There are screw attachments that will help make minced meat.

Interchangeable multi-functional accessories are also included or available at an additional cost. They will help cut food into slices of a certain shape (slices, straws or cubes), which can be changed for different dishes. With the help of such nozzles, you can turn a blender into a food processor.

Selection: TOP 10 blenders with a grinder

How to clean the blender after work

The part in which the motor and speed controller are located cannot be immersed in water: just wipe it with a damp sponge. Putting this blender element in the dishwasher is also unacceptable.

Dirt from all removable parts can be easily removed by a simple tap wash, and in some cases you can send the removable parts to the dishwasher. Whether they are dishwasher safe, the manufacturer always writes on the box, in the instructions or in the data sheet.

When grinding greasy foods, you can safely use normal dish detergent. The main thing is to rinse them well, wipe with a dry cloth and dry.

Some models such as BL300138 are equipped with Pulse mode. Not only does it help blend thick ingredients, it also makes cleaning easier. Everything is quite simple here. You need to fill the bowl with water, select the desired function, then pour out the dirty liquid and dry the container.

    Ninja Countertop Blenders

Ninja countertop blenders come in several different styles. Some models are full-size, professional appliances while others are primarily for smaller blending jobs, like smoothies. They have black or dark gray bases and tops that make them tasteful additions to any kitchen.

Are Ninja blender pitchers plastic or glass?

The primary containers as well as the single-serve cups of Ninja blenders are made of BPA-free plastic. The containers and lids may all be safely washed in your kitchen dishwasher.

How powerful are Ninja countertop blenders?

The wattage of the Ninja motors varies from 900 to 1500, depending on the model. They are all designed to have the power to pulverize fruits and vegetables, including skins, and crush ice. You can make things like soups, nut butters, ice cream, frozen cocktails, and baby food in these appliances.

What are the power levels on a Ninja countertop blender?

This varies by model. Some models have full manual control while others feature an Auto-IQ function. To use the automatic setting, you simply push the button that corresponds to what you are making, like “smoothie.” The blender then automatically pulses and pauses in the right pattern and for the right time to produce the ideal mix for a smoothie.

What other features are there to choose from?

The blenders may have from two to 12 Auto-IQ settings, depending on the model. Most also have a manual option in case you want to control the blending cycle yourself. You can choose a model with a wide manual range that gives you precise control of the blending process.

Ninja blenders have a number of handy features that vary by model.

    • Many models come with single-serving cups included. You may get one or two 24-ounce containers or two of different sizes. They have spout tops that make it easy to drink right from the cup.
    • The pitchers hold up to 72 ounces, depending on the model.

How to Connect an iPad to a TV in Two Different Ways

    • You can connect an iPad to a TV set with an AV (HDMI or VGA) cable. You’ll need the appropriate adapter cable from Apple.
    • To connect the iPad, just connect the adapter to your iPad, connect the adapter to your television with the appropriate cable, and switch the TV to the correct input.
    • You can also connect your iPad to a TV wirelessly if you have an Apple TV. To do that, use the Screen Mirroring feature in the iPad’s Control Center.
    • On the TV, your iPad might look somewhat low-res because its display is being upscaled to a much larger display, but your iPad will send video and photos to the TV at the best possible resolution.
    • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

It’s surprisingly easy to connect an iPad to a television. Once connected, you can project the Home Screen and any app, turning the TV into a giant iPad display.

But you can also use the iPad to deliver high resolution video, effectively turning any TV into a “smart TV.” You can play Netflix, Hulu, or any streaming service from the iPad, or send video and photos stored on the iPad itself to the screen.

There are two common ways to connect your iPad to a TV: via an AV cable, and using an Apple TV device.

How to connect an iPad to your TV with an AV cable

To connect your iPad directly to a TV, you will need an adapter cable that’s compatible with the input you have on your TV or monitor. In most cases, that will be an HDMI cable, so you should get a Lightning to Digital AV Adapter from Apple (for older displays, Apple also sells a Lightning to VGA Adapter).

    1. Connect the adapter to an HDMI (or VGA) cable.

    2. Connect the cable to an input on your television.

    3. Plug the adapter to the iPad’s Lightning port and turn on the iPad

Apple’s Digital AV Adapter connects your iPad’s Lightning port to an HDMI cable, which you then plug into a TV.

    Dave Johnson/Business Insider

    4. Use the TV’s control panel or remote control to switch to the input you just attached the cable to.

That’s pretty much it — you should see the iPad’s display duplicated on the TV. The Home Screen and most apps will probably look somewhat low resolution (the iPad’s resolution is being upscaled to the much larger TV screen) but when you play video, the full resolution of the video will be passed to the TV.

You can mirror anything on your iPad on a television or monitor using an AV adapter.

    Dave Johnson/Business Insider

If you’ll be using the iPad for a long time, you might want to plug the AV adapter into an AC adapter. This will provide power to the iPad while it’s running. You’ll need an extra AC adapter and Lightning cable for this, since Apple doesn’t include one with the adapter.

How to connect an iPad to your TV with an Apple TV

How to connect iPhone/iPad to TV

Most of us consume most of our content from iPhone and iPad. Mobile gadgets are convenient to carry with you all the time, but some types of content are more convenient to view on a large TV screen.

It’s hard to surprise with smart TVs, but it’s rather problematic to betray something on them from an iPhone or iPad. This “something” will have to be searched again on the TV. It is easy to learn how to broadcast content from gadgets directly to a TV. Read on, how to make Apple smartphones and Black Mirror friends!

Possible methods of signal transmission from iPhone/iPad to TV

Despite the closed Apple ecosystem, Cupertinians make it possible to broadcast the signal wirelessly and by wire. More convenient is chosen by the user.

    Wired connection to TV

This method is considered to be a budget one. We start by buying a Lightning to HDMI, Lightning adapter for iPhone. Such an adapter will allow you to transmit a signal not only to a TV, but also to ordinary monitors and projectors. By the way, on the iPad Pro you will need an adapter from USB-C to HDMI.

The advantages of the adapter are the ability to simultaneously transfer and charge a smartphone or tablet, as well as the minimum signal delay.

Now it remains to connect the HDMI cable to the TV and phone through the adapter. Next, a few settings on the TV, and the picture will be on the big screen.

    iPhone/iPad to TV Wireless Streaming

Apple has long gone wire-free. To maintain a high level of security, they had to develop their own standard for connecting iPhone / iPad to third-party devices.

This standard is called AirPlay. It is not only a guarantee of security, but also ensures uninterrupted communication. To start wireless transmission, open the bottom curtain and click on the Screen Mirroring button. A list of possible broadcast devices will open.

Now let’s deal with the signal receiver. Many TV models support Apple’s wireless standard, making their products more attractive to customers. Before reading further, it is worth checking your TV.

If, nevertheless, AirPlay is not provided, this can be compensated in several ways. The easiest and most convenient is to buy an Apple TV set-top box. It will not only make any TV “smart”, but can also receive a signal via AirPlay with image transmission to the big screen.

Like all Apple equipment, a branded set-top box will be expensive. You can try to find a prefix from third-party manufacturers that supports the standard. There are some, but it’s hard to say anything about their quality of work. If Apple TV is as trouble-free as a Kalashnikov assault rifle, then problems often arise with others.

What if a set-top box without AirPlay is already connected?

We invite Cap to buy a new one with support. For the sake of completeness, I should have said this. Now seriously, there is a way if you don’t want to pay a second time for a prefix.

As a rule, both the iPhone/iPad and the set-top box are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can try to simulate an AirPlay connection. To do this, you need to install a special application.

Most set-top boxes support the ability to install applications. Find and install an AirPlay emulator on your iPhone or iPad, and put the same one on your console. Try the free iMediaShare. It already has English-language channels and the YouTube app built in, but you can also broadcast something of your own. The interface is intuitive, you need to select the video and output device. Get the picture on a wide screen. There are many similar applications in the AppStore, both paid and free.

Unfortunately, everything works only in the environment of this application and only with a Wi-Fi connection. If this does not bother you, you get an excellent opportunity to save several thousand hryvnias.

    A tip from iLounge

Transferring movies, pictures, text from iPhone or iPad is not difficult. In the case of an initially large set of functions on the TV, the user does not even have to buy additional accessories.

If unlucky, the problem can be solved by a set-top box, and this is not necessarily an Apple TV. Yes, it will significantly upgrade any TV, and the user receives all the services of Cupertino for the big screen, but no one has canceled the price issue.

The adapter option would be less convenient. It’s great if you don’t have wireless connectivity, but it can get tiresome to use it all the time. Also, do not forget that you can always ask for help from a specialized iLab service center.

How to connect your iPad to your TV in different ways

If you are a proud owner of an iPad, then you probably like to spend time watching photos and movies on the screen of your tablet. But sometimes you want to view content on a big TV screen. Here the main drawback of Apple technology becomes obvious – the inability to connect the device to an external player. To connect your iPad to your TV, you will need to purchase additional accessories. We’ll show you how to do this with cables and adapters, as well as wirelessly.

Popular Ways to Connect iPad to TV

    Table of Contents

    • 1 Apple TV and AirPlay
    • 2 Chromecast
    • 3 HDMI or VGA Cable
    • 4 Summary

    Apple TV and AirPlay

Apple TV is a mini interactive TV set-top box connected to the HDMI connector. Thanks to this technology, the TV becomes the center of family leisure. With the help of the tvOS operating system, any content becomes available for viewing on the TV, just like on the iPad. You can download and watch movies, play games, and use AirPlay to connect any iOS device. In the official Apple store, the cost of the fourth generation set-top box is 13990 r. for the 32 GB version. For the 64 gigabyte version, you will have to pay 4000 more. You can also buy a branded HDMI cable there for 1590 rubles. Management takes place through the remote control with a touch panel.

    1. Connect your Apple TV to the power socket and to your TV with an HDMI cable. When using cable Internet, plug the power cord into the appropriate socket.
    2. When the setup screen appears, press the surface of the remote control to activate it, then select the language and region.
    3. Set-top box can be configured automatically using iPad or manually.
    4. In the first case, turn on Bluetooth on your tablet, confirm the setup request, and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
    5. For manual setup, enter your Apple ID account information, Wi-Fi password, select a device for the verification code, then enter the code itself.
    6. Follow the instructions on the TV screen to complete the setup.
    7. On an iPad, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap the AirPlay icon.
    8. Select the TV icon from the list of compatible devices. Your audio and video files will now play on your Apple TV.
    9. If you activate the Video mirroring function, the iPad screen will be mirrored on the TV.

    Chromecast

This is a small device developed by Google that also plugs into HDMI on your TV and allows you to stream images and music from your tablet, surf the web, and even create playlists. The prefix costs a little more than 2000 rubles. But since it was primarily created for Android devices, using it on the iPad is quite problematic. In addition, the function is supported by a limited number of applications.

    1. Connect your Chromecast to your TV’s HDMI port. Use the USB port for power.
    2. Launch an application that supports this function, select the broadcast from the menu, and enjoy watching on the big screen. The list of supported applications can be found on the page. Management is done on the tablet through the application menu.

    HDMI or VGA cable

If the Apple TV is quite expensive, and Chromecast has limited functionality, then you can connect any TV using a cable. If the TV is modern and has an HDMI interface, we recommend using it. Older TVs will have to use VGA. You will need to buy a special Lightning digital AV adapter or Lightning to VGA adapter (they cost 409 in the official store0 rub.).

    1. Plug one end of the adapter into your iPad and the other end into your TV.
    2. Use the remote control to select the input (HDMI or VGA) and scroll through the menu of the tablet. The image should repeat on the TV screen.

Please note that when connected via VGA, only picture can be output to the TV, while HDMI also provides sound. Signal transmission is set automatically, control is performed through the iPad menu.

    Conclusion

Now you know how to connect your iPad and display it on your TV screen.

Connecting an ipad to a tv: How to Connect an iPad to a TV in Two Different Ways

If you have an Apple TV, the process is actually even easier because there are no cables — it’s all wireless, using your Wi-Fi network.

    1. Ensure that the iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.

    2. Be sure your TV is on and displaying your Apple TV.

    3. Open the iPad’s Control Center by swiping down from the right side of the screen.

    4. Tap Screen Mirroring, and then tap Apple TV.

Connect an iPad to a nearby Apple TV using the Screen Mirroring button in the Control Center.

    Dave Johnson/Business Insider

You should now see the iPad’s Home screen mirrored on the TV.

The Apple Watch SE 2 (2022) doesn’t have advanced SpO2 and ECG sensors, but it does have most of the health and workout monitoring features you need. The operating system is watchOS 9, you will also have safety features and quality sleep monitoring.

In 2022, Apple released three new smartwatch models at once: the standard Watch Series 8, the shock-resistant premium Watch Ultra and the budget Watch SE 2. The new SE 2 differs little from the first SE: the case has become lighter, additional colors have appeared and performance has increased thanks to the S8 processor.

As with the Apple Watch, the main problem is incompatibility with Android smartphones.

    Design and construction

The look and feel of the Apple Watch SE 2 will be familiar to anyone who has ever used an Apple Watch.

Available in 40mm and 44mm versions, this is the smallest Apple watch to come out in 2022. The case is made of aluminum, and there are only three colors: silver, black and “shining star”. On the right side is the familiar combination of the Digital Crown and the physical power/launch application button.

The screen is covered with rounded reinforced glass on the sides, and the back panel is made of composite molded nylon in the same color as the body. The 44mm version weighs 33 grams, 13% lighter than the previous model, while the 40mm weighs about 27 grams, which is 18% lighter.

Apple has added water resistance up to 50 meters (5 ATM), so you can swim with them in the pool or the sea. But diving with a watch is not worth doing – only the Apple Watch Ultra is suitable for this.

The bezels around the display are slightly larger here than on the Apple Watch Series 7 or Series 8, but when using a watch face with a black background, this is not noticeable. Moreover, the design of watchOS 9 is designed with this feature in mind, so most sections of the interface are dark.

    Watch screen

The screen of the Apple Watch SE 2 (2022) is almost unchanged from the previous model.

This is a Retina LTPO OLED panel with an incredible 1000 nits of brightness. The 44mm version has a 1.78-inch display with a resolution of 448×368 pixels, while the 40mm version has a 1.57-inch display with a resolution of 394×324. The pixel density is 326 ppi.

Due to the high brightness, it is convenient to use the watch in any weather – the sun’s rays can be slightly reflected from the screen, but this does not interfere with reading the information. But there is no always-on mode here, which is why the display is almost always active.

A slight turn of the hand may not activate the display, so you can’t discreetly check the time in a boring meeting. But you can also activate the screen with a touch or a wheel on the side.

The lack of an always-on mode also becomes a problem during some workouts when it is not comfortable for you to move your arms – for example, on a stationary bike. With Watch Series 8, you can always see your performance, but with Watch SE 2, it’s harder to do so.

    Body health monitoring

Apple Watch SE 2 has almost no new features for monitoring workouts and body health.

But this does not mean that there are few of them. We have accurate motion sensors and a fall detector, as well as a GPS module for location and speed. The heart rate sensor measures your heart rate and alerts you to possible heartbeat problems, while the noise sensor can detect when the volume of the sound around you has reached a dangerous level for hearing.

If, God forbid, you get into an accident, SE 2 will ask if you’re okay. When you do not answer, the device will automatically call the emergency service.

Unlike the Watch Series 8, the SE 2 does not have an oxygen saturation, temperature, or ECG sensor. These sensors are already found on cheaper models from other manufacturers, so Apple should have added them. It is clear that the Watch SE 2 should be a budget option for the Series 8, but these features can prevent many diseases and even save lives.

But in watchOS 9, sleep monitoring has been improved, the information has become more detailed and understandable. There was also a function of reminding about taking medications, which is conveniently implemented. If you forget to take a pill, you can see the consequences in the Health section of the app, such as reduced activity or an altered heart rate.

    Workout monitoring

Apple Watch SE 2 (2022) continues to use the Workout app for exercise, although you can download and use other services like Strava.

In the “Workout” section, a variety of sports are collected, from running and strength training to yoga. You can start an activity with a voice command using Siri or through the menu in the application. The most frequently launched types of workouts are also in this menu, at the top.

Watch SE 2 can track workouts automatically – if the watch detects increased activity, it will offer to start tracking. The function works reliably and almost always correctly determines what you are doing.

Three activity rings are still available, showing the number of calories burned, training time and time on your feet. You can set the targets for these information rings yourself.

Watch SE 2 and Watch Series 8

    Performance and software

The Apple Watch SE 2 (2022) has the same Apple S8 processor as the Series 8, so you get the fastest performance possible.

In this regard, the Watch SE 2 certainly does not seem like a budget model and will not become obsolete even after a few years. operating system watchOS 9also almost does not differ from the version installed in Watch Series 8 and Watch Ultra – of course, except for functions using those sensors that SE 2 does not have.

Watch SE 2 vs. Watch Series 8

These include body temperature, blood oxygen saturation, and interaction with the Action Button on the Ultra. One feature that other Apple Watches have but lack here is a numeric keypad for quickly replying to messages. True, in most cases, emoji is enough for a quick answer, and more detailed text can be typed by voice or handwriting on the display.

With Watch SE 2 (2022), you can answer calls, write messages, receive calendar notifications, read email and more. WatchOS 9 isn’t much different from watchOS 8, with a few interface changes being made, although not all seem to be successful.

The text in notifications has become more constricted and sometimes even goes a little beyond the notification window. The window itself now does not occupy the entire screen, but only the upper part – if you receive only important notifications on your watch, it is inconvenient to read them.

Apple Watch SE 2 battery life

Watch SE 2 (2022) battery life is a pleasant surprise – the new smartwatches last much longer than previous models from Apple.

During the day of standard use, the device is discharged by only 50%, although much depends on the sensors and functions involved. If you turn off the clock at night, you can count on three days of battery life.

After activating the option, some background processes will be disabled – for example, continuous heart rate monitoring will stop. But for a day of normal use, including sleep monitoring at night, the battery will be discharged by only 30%. A full charge from 0 to 100% takes more than two hours.

    Summary

Apple Watch SE 2 (2022) is the manufacturer’s most affordable smartwatch, which is still expensive compared to many other models on the market.

But it does have a lot of the smart health and fitness features of Apple’s pricier watches, thanks to watchOS 9. You’ll also have very accurate GPS, plenty of supported workouts, and two or three days of battery life.

Of course, the Watch SE 2 doesn’t have many of the sensors available on the Watch Series 8 and Watch Ultra, but most don’t need them. I would have liked the always-on mode for the screen more, but in this case, the watch would have become more expensive.

Is it worth it to buy

Watch SE 2 from Apple is recommended to anyone who is looking for a good and not the most expensive smart watch to use with the iPhone.

    What is an unlocked phone?

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

What is an unlocked phone, anyhow? In simple terms, an unlocked phone is a device that has no ties to carriers. Typically, when your phone is on a contract, the associated telephone will remain locked to that network.

Why? Because wireless carriers sell phones at a discount. To recover financial losses from subsidizing, carriers lock customers into a multi-year contract of device payments while locking the phone to its network. You will pay for your plan every month, and the carrier will make its money back this way. Locking the device prevents customers from getting discounted phones and jumping networks without paying them off.

That said, you can’t install SIM cards from competing networks and expect instant connectivity. Even if the phone has the hardware to support other networks and you’ve made all the payments, it usually remains carrier-locked until you pay it off or meet specific requirements.

Unlock requirements for major USA carriers:

    • AT&T
    • T-Mobile
    • Verizon

Of the three, Verizon is the only carrier that doesn’t lock phones even if contracts and payment plans aren’t complete. This stemmed from Verizon’s agreement with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) when it acquired the block C spectrum. However, Verizon does lock your phone for the first 60 days after purchase. While it’s not perfect, 60 days is much shorter than the competition.

In addition to postpaid plans and phones, restrictions also apply to prepaid plans and associated devices purchased through wireless carriers. These phones do not have payment plans, but carriers still want time and financial investments before unlocking these devices.

    Unlocking versus rooting (or jailbreaking)

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

One of the big errors we see is the term “jailbreak” (or rooting) incorrectly associated with unlocking phones. Rooting pertains explicitly to software, as you remove the phone’s restrictions to install custom Android software or delete/hide bloatware apps. To that extent, you are “unlocking” the phone’s true potential or “unlocking” it from software-based restrictions. This is still not the same as SIM unlocking a device, though.

Typically, phone locking starts on the SIM card level to accept a specific mobile network code. But the other half of that restriction stems from your phone’s International Mobile Equipment Identity number (IMEI). This number is unique to each phone and used to identify all devices accessing terrestrial cellular networks, including smartwatches, laptops, modems, tablets, and more.

Moreover, all IMEI numbers have linked codes used to unlock a phone. Manufacturers store these codes in a database accessible by carriers and other third-party services. This prevents you from ripping the SIM card out of any device you’re currently buying through AT&T and using it on T-Mobile’s network, for example. The IMEI number is still tied to AT&T; thus, the only way to unlock the phone is to make all the payments, send AT&T an unlock request, and get the unlock code.

According to a quick chat with T-Mobile, you can take this route or allow the carrier to pay up to $650 in device and termination fees. In turn, you must give T-Mobile the phone and purchase a new device through the company.

You can buy unlocked phones outright

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

You can get a carrier-free phone from most retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and more. You’ll pay the full price upfront versus the typical payment plan through carrier contracts; thus, the fancier the phone, the bigger the bite from your wallet.

But before you purchase an unlocked phone, you need to see if it’s compatible. Main wireless networks in North America used two different standards: Global System for Mobile (GSM) communications, used by AT&T, T-Mobile, and a few prepaid carriers, and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), used by Verizon and others. However, Verizon has shut down its CDMA network as it’s moved to better, faster, 4G and 5G alternatives.

Now that all leading US carriers use GSM, it’s easier for unlocked phones to be compatible with any carrier, but there is another factor to look after. While AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile provide GSM-based cellular networks, they own and use different radio frequencies. T-Mobile openly provides its frequency list here, while AT&T has them here. Our friends at Swappa also have a nice list of Verizon’s bands. You’ll need to verify that the supported frequencies of the phone match the target carrier frequencies.

    SIM vs eSIM

Short for Subscriber Identification Module, the SIM card stores what your phone needs to access a specific network. This data includes your mobile subscriber identity number, encryption keys, contacts, SMS messages, etc. It’s a small, physical card that typically fits into a pull-out slot on the side of your phone. When you swap wireless carriers, you swap SIM cards as well.

Initially introduced in 1991, newer, smaller generations typically release every six to eight years. What we have today is the nano-SIM card from 2012, which is just over a square centimeter. Some devices also use the new embedded SIM module (eSIM) mounted inside the device, eliminating the need for swappable, disposable cards that can be lost or damaged.

Due to the difference between SIM cards and eSIM modules, check if the unlocked smartphone you want to buy includes the latter eSIM module, and if your wireless carrier supports it. Most carriers do these days. Additionally, the most recent and best phones support eSIM.

By the way, eSIM is likely the future. In fact, Apple has started removing physical SIM slots, and the iPhone 14 series only uses eSIM.

You’ll also find phones with two SIM card slots, allowing the device to access two separate networks. This is good for separating business and personal calls, as you’ll have two different phone numbers. This duality also provides better coverage, as you could switch from one network to another after moving into a dead area. You can use one SIM card locally and a separate one internationally, eliminating costly roaming fees.

How can I tell if my phone is unlocked?

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

If you’re currently making monthly device payments to a carrier other than Verizon, chances there is a lock on the device. Once you have paid off the device and submitted an unlock request, the first method of checking its status is to remove the current SIM card and install another card from a different network. A message will tell you if there’s a lock on the device.

If you own an iPhone or cellular-capable iPad, there’s another way to check the unlock status:
    1. Open Settings.
    2. Open General.
    3. Go into About.
    4. Scroll down to where it says Carrier Lock.
    5. If your phone is unlocked, this should say No SIM restrictions.

Again, if your qualified phone is locked to a specific carrier, you’ll need to send an unlock request. The required information may include the device IMEI number, your account number, the account owner’s social security number, phone number, and overseas deployment papers if needed.

The method of unlocking a phone using a code depends on the device. After requesting an unlock for an Android phone, customers receive a code from the carrier through a text message or an on-device pop-up window. The customer then shuts down the phone, removes the first carrier’s SIM card, installs the second carrier’s SIM card, powers on the device, and follows prompts to enter the unlock code.

Another route is to use a special app supplied by carriers. For example, Cricket Wireless provides the myCricket app with an “Unlock Device” option on the app’s sign-in screen. Once the app receives the required code, customers must reboot the phone to complete the unlock process. For iPhones and iPads, Apple provides unlock instructions here.

In addition to carriers, third-party services can unlock your phone, but doing so can violate your contract. For Android phones, you pay a flat fee in return for an unlock code. These third-party services have access to databases managed by phone manufacturers that contain unlock codes tied to the device IMEI. But be careful: some third-party services may not be legit and could run with your money.

    Unlocked means freedom

Hopefully, you now better understand what “unlocked” means and how to tell if your current device is locked to a specific network. With an unlocked phone, you have the freedom to choose the best compatible wireless carrier. Even if you paid off the phone and completed contact obligations, the device is all yours, and you should be free to switch. Call your carrier today if you’ve met all the required obligations.

    FAQs

An unlocked phone is a device that has no network restrictions and can be used with any GSM network.

GSM stands for Global System for Mobile. It is a communications standard most networks across the globe use.

Verizon used to be the main CDMA carrier in the USA. It has shut down itis CDMA network, along with 2G and 3G. This makes it another GSM carrier now.

If you’re using an iPhone, you can see this information in the settings. Just go to Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock.

Android doesn’t have a similar feature. You’ll have to try putting a SIM card into the phone and see if it accepts it.

Most major retailers have unlocked phones, and they will usually announce this somewhere in the buying page. You can try Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

If you don’t have a phone yet, and want to buy an unlocked device, we have a dedicated post with our recommendations for the best unlocked phones around.

    Unlocked phones: Pros and cons

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

Unlocked phones are gaining ground, even if locked devices continue to be the norm. An NPD Collected Intelligence report from July 2020 states that 50.1 million unlocked phones exist in the USA. That’s a significant percentage, as a 2021 Statista report claims there are just under 300 million smartphone users in the USA. The numbers come from different years, but you can get an idea of what’s going on.

We don’t see growth slowing down, as there are many benefits to owning an unlocked phone. Reasons to stick with carrier-locked phones also exist. Today we are giving you a rundown of the pros and cons that come with buying an unlocked phone.

    What is an unlocked phone?

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

The best way to explain this is by telling you what a locked phone is. Locked phones have been blocked from working with other networks. Try putting a SIM card from another carrier in a locked phone, and you will get a message telling you this action is a no-go.

On the contrary, an unlocked phone has no network restrictions. You can pop any SIM card into an unlocked phone and get it working with the carrier of your choice (given it’s compatible).

Why do cellular providers lock phones in the first place?

It’s crucial to note carriers have their reasons for locking devices. The main ones are ensuring customers stay with them. Carriers want to ensure you don’t go giving your business to competitors.

Carriers lock phones to ensure you don’t go giving your business to competitors.

Carriers also want to avoid theft/fraud. People can sign cellphone contracts, default on them, and then keep phones. This would probably be a more common practice if all phones were unlocked and ready to use elsewhere. This is why they offer to unlock devices after your contract has ended, you have paid the smartphone off, or you have spent some time using their network.

    Unlocked phone advantages

    Carrier freedom

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Unlocked phone users have no restrictions, contracts, or ties to any company. They can shop around with no limits. Whether they want T-Mobile deals, Verizon quality, or the lowest prices the market can offer, they are free to come and go from carrier to carrier as they please.

You can even get better carrier pricing by going with one of the best prepaid plans around. There is a catch, though! Your phone needs to be compatible with the network (more on that in the cons section).

    How about two networks?!

Dual-SIM unlocked phones make it possible to use two networks at once. Say you want to use a carrier for calls/texts and another for data. Maybe you travel often and want to have a SIM card from another country. This is all possible with a dual-SIM unlocked phone.

Not all unlocked phones offer dual-SIM capabilities, but this is a feature you certainly won’t be seeing in locked devices. And if you have a single-SIM unlocked phone, you can also swap SIM cards at will.

    No monthly payments

Carriers offer phones on monthly payments, which is very convenient, but makes your bills pricier. Device payments keep you in debt with the carrier, making it harder to leave the network if you ever choose to. It’s always nice to be debt-free and keep your monthly expenses as low as possible.

And if you happen to like making smaller monthly payments on phones, you can always try to get financing outside your carrier. Plenty of retailers offer good deals, such as zero APR financing for specific periods of time.

    You can save money!

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Carriers are businesses and obviously want to earn as much money as possible. Their smartphone prices are not always fair, and they are only ever cheaper if they can hook you into staying with them for a more extended time. Let’s take the Google Pixel 7a as an example.

Carriers will get discount money back from you eventually, and then some.

As of writing this article, the Google Pixel 7a costs $549.99 on Verizon. Meanwhile, you can get the same phone unlocked at Amazon for $499. We know the price difference isn’t huge right now, but discounts come often. You could also save more if you don’t mind buying a used unlocked phone!

Carriers often have deals that drive down their device prices, but they always want you to get these on device payments or take on a contract. This only means they will eventually get the money back from you, and then some.

    Unlocked phones help avoid over-spending

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

See the device above? It’s a Google Pixel Fold, and it has a whopping $1799. 99 MSRP. Any sane (non-rich) person would think twice or three times before forking out nearly two grand for a phone. But something along the lines of $50 a month? That’s much easier to swallow! The thing is, you’re still going to end up paying that money eventually.

Buying unlocked will not only get you lower prices on devices, but it will also help you avoid overspending when not considering the total cost of a phone. These carrier device payments make it easy for us to buy expensive smartphones we otherwise wouldn’t.

Device payment plans make people think it’s ok to spend over $1,000 on a super-phone to… check their emails and use social media.Edgar Cervantes

Very few people take full advantage of what high-end phones have to offer, but you see people using them every day. Device payment plans make people think it’s ok to spend over $1,000 on a super-phone to… check their emails and use social media. Maybe if we had to pay for our devices outright, we would think twice about getting the industry’s latest and greatest smartphone! After all, most people would do just fine with a good budget phone.

    Not limited to carrier selection

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Carriers have a limited selection of devices. They all tend to have the most popular phones, but you might prefer other options out there. When buying unlocked, you can choose from many manufacturers worldwide, and there are many excellent phones with limited or no availability from US carriers.

    No carrier bloatware

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

American carriers love throwing unnecessary apps on their phones. While some manufacturers are guilty of this, we don’t need carriers pre-installing even more smartphone apps. Most of these are useless, and sometimes they can’t be uninstalled.

Most carrier apps are useless, and sometimes they can’t be uninstalled.

    Unlocked phones get quicker updates

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

Carriers update their own phones. This means your software needs to go through an extra filter before reaching your device. The process goes something like this: Google releases its software updates, the manufacturer optimizes it for its phones and hands it to the carrier, the carrier optimizes it for its phones and network, and then it gets to your device.

All these steps could take weeks or months, and that’s if it happens. Unlocked phones skip the last step and get software updates from the manufacturer. And if you care for timely updates, you can even get a Pixel device, which is updated straight by Google.

    Unlocked phone disadvantages

Unlocked phones get no support from carriers

    Eric Zeman / Android Authority

This is easily the most significant disadvantage of going with an unlocked phone. Carriers will let you use unlocked phones, but they won’t offer support if anything goes wrong. When your phone starts failing, the network has issues, or you have any technical difficulties, you will be on your own. The manufacturer has its support team, but their knowledge is limited to their products, not carrier network technology.

Does your unlocked phone even work with your carrier?

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

We have already established that unlocked phone owners need to be tech-savvy, but it’s for more reasons than support. You must figure out if your unlocked phone will work with your desired network(s). This can be confusing, as it requires you to know which radio bands carriers use. You must also understand the differences between CDMA and GSM network technologies.

Buying an unlocked phone requires a lot of research! On the other hand, carriers will only sell you phones that work perfectly in their networks.

Carrier warranties and insurances are better

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Every new phone gets a warranty from the manufacturer, but we all know how painful the process of claiming it can be. You must call customer service, spend hours with them, ship the device, get it fixed or replaced, then they send it back. Dealing with your carrier is much simpler. You can usually show up at your local retail location and take care of things. At the very least, they can help you through the claim process.

Carriers also offer insurance through selected partners, and these can offer pretty good deals. You can cover your phone against malfunctions, drops, spills, theft, and even loss or theft. This provides the peace of mind many customers like. Of course, there are also third-party insurances, but their experiences are never quite as seamless as going straight with your carrier.

Unlocked phones need to be paid for in full

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Unlocked phones must be paid in full, unless you use a credit card or third-party financing. The point is you need to cover the cost of the phone right away, and we all know these gadgets can be expensive. Seeing your account suddenly drop by over $1,000 because of a high-end smartphone doesn’t feel good. Sometimes even affordable phone prices can hurt.

A monthly payment is easier to swallow than forking out hundreds or thousands of dollars on a phone.

Carriers offer devices on monthly payments with 0% interest. Monthly payments are easier to swallow than forking out hundreds or thousands of dollars on a phone in one go.

    Carriers sometimes offer sweet deals!

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

In the unlocked phone advantages list, we mentioned you tend to pay more for carrier devices. We have seen carriers also offer some very sweet deals, though. There is a catch, as the deal will lock you to the carrier and usually requires signing up for certain plans. If you already want to be on that carrier and like their higher-end plans, though, your commitment to them can help you save cash.

Carriers often reduce smartphone prices and offer those discounts in the form of monthly credit to your bill. Sometimes they also have BOGO (buy one get one) deals, which means you end up saving 50% if you get two phones. We’ve also seen them highly discounting (and sometimes even giving away) cool accessories like headphones and smartwatches.

    • Verizon deals
    • AT&T deals
    • T-Mobile deals

    Carriers have exclusive phones

Exclusivity deals are not as common as they used to be, but there are some around. For example, Verizon locked a lifetime exclusivity deal for the Moto Razr when it launched. They were also the only American carrier to offer the Palm Phone for a while.

Other carriers have similar exclusivity deals, but they are usually only exclusive for a limited time. AT&T had the Razer Phone 2, Sprint had the Essential Phone, T-Mobile had the OnePlus 6T, etc.

Importing is another option, but that also brings more complications and hassles.

Where can I buy unlocked phones?

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

So you now know what an unlocked phone is and are considering going that route. Now what? The most popular way to buy unlocked phones is online. Popular websites for purchasing unlocked phones include Amazon, eBay, and Swappa. Going to a manufacturer’s online store is usually another option. You can also find them in certain retail stores like Best Buy, Walmart, etc., but their selection isn’t commonly as wide.

If you are interested, we have created a list of the best unlocked phones, which tells you where you can buy them. Hit the link below to see which unlocked phone is best for your needs and budget.

    FAQs

An unlocked phone is a device with no carrier restrictions. Locked phones are restricted to a specific carrier.

An unlocked phone will work with any carrier, given that it has the necessary technology to operate correctly. Does your carrier use CDMA? GSM? A mixture of both? You will also have to make sure your phone has the necessary radio bands to work with your network.

The MSRP is usually the same whether you get a carrier device or an unlocked one. That said, finding deals on unlocked phones is much more common if you’re paying them in full. On the other hand, many carriers also discount locked devices if you’re willing to sign into their contracts or device payment plans.

You’re more likely to get help from your carrier if you bought your device straight from them. They might offer small help, but anything more complex will have to be dealt with by the manufacturer or insurance provider.

    Unlocked mobile phone

Unlocked mobile phone is a phone that recognizes any SIM card (SIM). When you buy a mobile phone from a provider, the phone is locked in the provider’s network. Even though a locked phone may be compatible with other networks, it cannot be used on another network while the phone is locked. However, most mobile phone companies supply unlocked mobile phones to the market. Unlocked phones can be used with any SIM card. Usually unlocked mobile phones that are sold over the Internet are unlocked using special programs (hacking or firmware).

What is the history of unlocked mobile phones?

When mobile phones are purchased from a reseller, the SIM card in the phone is linked to the owner’s personal billing information. Most resellers block the phone with special software so that it only works with their SIM card. For a while, unlocked mobile phones were only available in specialty stores where people bought phones from overseas. People traveling in Europe bought unlocked phones to avoid high roaming charges or paid for each local call. They simply bought a SIM card from a local operator and inserted it into the phone. Recently, manufacturers have begun making unlocked phones available in North America and selling them in stores and on their websites.

Cellular providers around the world, including carriers in the US and Canada, rely on GSM technology. GSM phones are sold with a SIM card slot. When the mobile phone is unlocked, you can switch carriers, which allows you to use the phone on a different GSM network. An unlocked phone has many benefits. You don’t need to buy a new phone and you can take your information stored in your mobile phone with you. This helps when you travel and switch between mobile carriers, as you can use the same phone instead of multiple ones. You can also save money by being able to choose a better mobile operator than the manufacturer.

If the mobile phone is unlocked, it can recognize any SIM card, regardless of which cellular provider issued it. The biggest reason why consumers buy unlocked mobile phones is the increase in options to choose a new cellular provider. If you are thinking about unlocking your phone, the provider will do it for a fee. You can contact the provider to see if your phone can be unlocked in the store.

Many people who travel frequently around the world buy unlocked phones because they can get a lot of useful things out of these devices. There are more options available now than ever before, so be sure you’re making a great purchase.

Summary: Why you need to unlock phones

    – Freedom to choose tariffs and mobile operators for an unlocked phone. Choose a mobile operator with the best service or prices for tariff plans. If after buying or unlocking your phone you find a better deal, you can change your carrier or plan.

    – With an unlocked phone, the benefits of traveling are obvious. You can take your unlocked phone on long-distance or international trips and use a local mobile operator for cheap communication services, whichever you consider more profitable for you. It’s as easy as inserting a new active SIM card.

    – Lots of choices when buying an unlocked phone. It is more profitable to purchase a mobile phone with technical characteristics that you need or will definitely work with your mobile operator and get more opportunities from the service without contract restrictions.

What does unlocked original phone mean

Such models are always marked with “Unlocked” and “ Unlocked”. If you come across these marks, then the device has been reflashed and its software has been restored. This happens when, for example, they want to adapt a model to another market. And in fact it is a new phone just with different software. Accordingly, the prices for it will be much lower, such a device can be purchased at a discount of up to 50%.

The difference between the restored ones and the unlocked ones is that the restored ones had mechanical damage, which was eliminated.

    LG QNED TVs differences

In 2022, LG has expanded its lineup of 4K UltraHD LG QNED Mini LED TVs. The 2021 models have been updated, but fundamentally new series have also been added. There are also new functions, along with an upgrade of the main ones. This, for example, support for the Wi-Fi 6 standard in the older QNED lines, and also the Always Ready option (Always ready).

The appearance of TVs has not changed significantly, the user interface has evolved (now it is webOS 22 instead of webOS 6.0) and the processor, which is already represented by the fifth generation. So, we will not set our task to identify any special differences between LG QNED 2022 and 2021.

Our task is to find out how the 2022 QNED LG TVs differ from each other. This should help those who are planning to buy LG QNED. Recall that QNED technology uses NanoCell technology together with Mini LED blue backlight. This makes it possible to significantly reduce the size of the backlight LEDs, while multiplying the number of zones for adjusting their brightness.

Despite the differences, there are many points where LG’s 2022 QNED TVs are the same. Let us briefly dwell on the most important of them. Firstly, they all run on the webOS 22 smart platform, which means that they support smart home, voice control, multimedia functions, and a USB camera.

Secondly, all QNED models work with static HDR modes, namely HDR10 and HLG. In terms of image processing, QNED TVs use the same color enhancement algorithms and have an identical set of display modes. All have 10-bit color depth. There are no differences between them in terms of television reception. Now let’s move on to the main thing – the differences between QNED.

    Matrix and backlight

LG’s three older series QNED99, QNED96 and QNED95 are 8K TVs with a resolution of 7680 × 4320. The remaining models have a resolution of 4K UltraHD 3840 x 2160. But something else is important here. In the younger series, LG began to use, in addition to IPS matrices, VA. These are the LG QNED82, QNED81 and QNED80 series. True, 86″ TVs still use IPS panels.

The main idea of creating QNED TVs was to use Mini LED backlighting. In 2021, all LG QNEDs only had mini LED backlighting. But 2022 was marked by the appearance of Edge Lit side lighting, again in the LG QNED82, QNED81 and QNED80 TV series. With LG MiniLED QNED, they are united by the presence of quantum dots and NanoCell technology.

There are differences between QNED 2022 in the way the backlight is localized or local dimming is implemented. In LG QNED99, QNED96 and QNED95, the Precision Dimming Pro + full-matrix backlight control algorithm is implemented. The LG QNED91, QNED90, QNED87, QNED86 and QNED85 series use Precision Dimming Pro with fewer dimming zones. Local dimming Dimming Pro is also available in the LG QNED82, QNED81 and QNED80 side-lit series.

    Processor and screen refresh rate

All QNED 8K series are based on α9 Gen5 AI 8K intelligent processor. The LG 4K QNED uses its counterpart α7 Gen5 AI 4K. The difference is due to the fact that A9processes 4 times more information than A7. The screen refresh rate of almost all QNED LG 2022 is 100 / 120 Hz. The exception is the LG QNED96 and QNED95 series. Their panels are updated at a frequency of 50 / 60 Hz.

    Sound

What is the difference in QNED 2022? Firstly, the sound scheme, secondly, the power of the audio system, and finally, Dolby Atmos support. In the three junior series, this atmospheric technology is not supported, and the total power of the two-channel sound circuit is 20 watts. The most top-end TV LG QNED99 has a total power of 60W and a 4.2 channel circuit. All other models implement a 2.2 channel circuit with a power of 40 watts.

    Connections

Basically LG QNED wiring diagram is repeated from series to series, but there are quantitative and some qualitative differences. Let’s start with the fact that all QNED 4K have two HDMI2.1 connectors and two HDMI2.0 connectors. 8K models are different. LG QNED99 has all HDMI 2.1 connectors, while QNED96 and QNED95 have only four HDMI2.0 connectors. All 4K QNEDs have 2 USB 2.0 ports, and the 8K QNED versions add one more USB 3.0 port. Plus, QNED 8K TV works with WiFi6.
