Until now, shooting at ultra-telephoto ranges meant carrying large interchangeable lenses. Thanks to the all-in-one zoom technology developed by Tamron, you can travel with a single lens that’s 4.8 in long and weighs only 24.9 oz.* Experience the thrill of shooting with compact equipment that makes it easy to capture ultra-telephoto images.

* Length and weight are based on the Nikon-mount lens.

Our ultra-telephoto all-in-one zoom includes an all-new barrel design. By distributing complex movements across three cams, Tamron has ensured that all zoom extensions are smooth and easy.

Tamron’s exclusive HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive) saves power while providing superior drive. It focuses accurately and quietly while adjusting the motor’s rotation from low to high speeds, enabling smooth autofocusing. HLD let us design a space-saving AF module, for a sleeker barrel and reduced overall lens size.

Expand your vision of fast telephoto lenses.
The new telephoto lens SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 (Model A025) is a reimagining of the popular A009and offers improved optical performance, improved optical image stabilization, faster and more accurate autofocus, and a reduced minimum focus distance. Compatible with Tamron teleconverters to further extend the focal length.

Rugged, versatile and resilient, this lens features innovative SP-series technologies to suit any situation.

High resolution and beautiful bokeh
Every aspect of the SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 zoom lens (Model A025) has been improved to deliver high image quality and even more beautiful bokeh. The optical design incorporates XLD (Extra-Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements to eliminate chromatic aberration across the entire zoom range, ensuring optimal resolution even at the edges of the frame. The eBAND coating, developed specifically for this new zoom lens, has excellent anti-reflection properties and minimizes flare and ghosting. An exquisite background blur effect (bokeh) can be obtained from almost any shooting angle.

Image – Text

Minimum focusing distance reduced to 0.95 m
Improvements in the new SP 70-200mm F/2. 8 G2 extend beyond the body. Tamron engineers have reduced the minimum focusing distance from 1.3 m (in the previous model) to 0.95 m. The maximum zoom ratio is 1:6.1. The shorter minimum focusing distance, combined with the superior optical performance of the new zoom lens, greatly expands the creative possibilities of the photographer.

Focus accuracy.
The ring-type ultrasonic autofocus motor, along with two high-performance microprocessors, guarantees excellent focusing speed and accuracy. The full-time manual focus correction function allows you to fine-tune the focus manually without having to switch between modes.

eBAND coating

Reduce flare and ghosting with eBAND and BBAR coatings
Two advanced lens coating technologies – eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) ) based on nanotechnology and BBAR (Broad -Band Anti-Reflection) – increase light transmission and minimize glare and ghosting. The images created by the lens are characterized by high contrast, sharpness and clarity.

Electromagnetic diaphragm

Electromagnetic diaphragm system compatible with Nikon cameras
The electromagnetic diaphragm system standard on Canon mount lenses is now available on Nikon* mount lenses. Due to the fact that the aperture blades are driven and controlled by an electric motor through electronic impulses, the accuracy of aperture control is improved.
* Only with cameras compatible with electromagnetic diaphragm:
D3100, D3200, D3300, D3400, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D5600, D7000, D7100, D7200, D300, D300s, D600, D610, D700, D750, D800, D80 0E, D810, D810A, D3x, D4 , D4s, Df, D500, D5. (As of 01/2017)

Tripod

Lightweight, easy-to-handle tripod mount compatible with Arca-Swiss quick release plate
New textured handle and Arca-Swiss tripod connector speed up performance and improve usability . The tripod bracket is made of lightweight magnesium alloy, so it doesn’t add too much weight to the set of equipment.

Fluorine coating

Fluorine coating for protection and safe cleaning
Stain resistance shown (oil marker)
A protective fluorine coating has been applied to the surface of the front element of the lens to repel moisture and grease. The lens is now easier to clean and less susceptible to damage from dirt, dust, moisture, and fingerprints.

Waterproof and dustproof design

Splash- and dust-resistant design
Ideal for outdoor photography, the SP 70-200mm G2 is weather- and dust-resistant with special seals at all connections. The sealing material is more effective at preventing dirt, dust or water particles from penetrating than conventional moisture resistant construction.

TAP-in™ console

Compatible with TAMRON TAP-in™ console
The optional TAP-in™ console allows the lens to be connected to a personal computer via USB for easy firmware updates, as well as function adjustments, including fine-tuning of autofocus and optical stabilization.

The most accurate watch – what is the most accurate watch in the world and how does it work

The most accurate watch in the world

In today’s article, the Kronostime team answers one of the most important questions that any wrist owner has ever asked hours. We will talk about which watches are rightfully considered the most accurate in the world, and also tell you how to choose the most accurate wristwatch.

The accuracy of the watch depends on many factors:

    • On the type of device;
    • Effects of the Earth’s magnetic field;
    • Tilt angle;
    • Status of the watch mechanism;
    • The life of the watch and the accuracy of its care and so on.

However, the most accurate watch in the world is still not quite the kind of mechanism that can be worn on the hand.

The most accurate watch in the world is a special device based on intramolecular or atomic processes. Such a watch model is called so – atomic (or quantum, less often – molecular). The operation of such watches occurs due to the vibrations of cesium-133 atoms, respectively, this element is considered the standard for measuring time.

The first atomic clock was created in 1967 and immediately became widespread in areas requiring ultra-precise time measurement: in navigation, military and space technology, communications, and so on. In the future, atomic clocks have undergone many changes – like any other scientific discovery, they required constant updating and improvement. The last major development of a new model of molecular clock occurred in the USA – they created a quantum clock called the Quantum Logic Clock. Their accuracy is amazing – the error of this mechanism is only 1 second in 3.7 billion years.

An atomic clock is an expensive, stationary and rather massive invention that requires appropriate care and maintenance. Nevertheless, wrist models were designed on their basis – in 2013, the American company Bathys Hawaii created the world’s first wrist atomic watch, inside of which a capsule filled with cesium-133 gas was enclosed.

Science did not stop at the same place, and every year more and more new models of molecular watches are being developed – they become more compact, comfortable and attractive in appearance, but they are still much inferior to modern conventional wristwatch models and are more suitable for futurist amateurs. In addition, the price tag for a quantum wrist watch is quite high – from 13 thousand dollars, which is also impressive. Therefore, for the time being, we suggest that you leave innovations to collectors and turn to more real models of wristwatches, which, if slightly inferior to atomic ones in accuracy, will surely please you more.

An interesting fact: before the advent of the atomic clock Quantum Logic Clock, the most accurate in the world was the so-called Paris standard, located at the Institute of Time. It was also a quantum clock, which, however, showed time with a more significant error: a second in a thousand years.

Which watch is considered the most accurate?

To begin with, let’s deal with the main types of wristwatches that are popular in the modern world:

    • Mechanical – the principle of operation of such watches is based on the operation of a mechanism with a balance-spring. This is one of the oldest watch movements, still widely used around the world. Mechanical watches need to be wound (or self-winding – depending on the model), but, despite some drawbacks, they are classic wristwatches and emphasize the taste, status and solidity of their owner;
    • Quartz – the “heart” of the mechanism of such watches is a quartz crystal, due to which their work takes place. The first quartz watches were produced in Japan and since then they have confidently filled the watch markets around the world – such models are unpretentious in maintenance and quite affordable;
    • Electronic – became widespread in the 70s. Such watch models work due to a quartz oscillator that creates electromagnetic oscillations. It interacts with the microcircuit and displays time information and other indicators on the liquid crystal display.

Important! Electronic watches are a subspecies of quartz – on the basis of this principle, the so-called “hybrid” models are created – quartz watches with classic (analogue) hands and LCD displays.

Let’s figure out which of the listed types of watches can be called the most accurate. To do this, we will sequentially analyze their main characteristics.

    Mechanical watch

Mechanical watches – watches with this type of movement, despite their impressive and respected history, cannot boast of super-accuracy – for inexpensive models of mechanical watches, an error of 7-8 seconds per knock is a very good result, for luxury models it is less and amounts to 2-3 seconds. The Zenith Defy Lab of 2017 is currently recognized as the most accurate mechanical wrist watch. The model was created taking into account all the latest technologies – its error is only 0.3 seconds per day.

Important! Zenith Defy Lab, like other expensive models of mechanical watches, is equipped with a special device that compensates for the effects of the Earth’s magnetic field. This results in an increase in the accuracy of the mechanism. Such a device is called a tourbillon.

An interesting fact: especially accurate models of wrist mechanical watches are proudly called “chronometer”. They are certified according to the Swiss COSC standard, and their error does not exceed 4-6 seconds per day. This is where the expression “accurate as a Swiss watch” came from. By the way, the most accurate mechanical clock is not a wrist model at all – it is a clock made in the middle of the 20th century for the town hall in Copenhagen. They are a huge mechanism of fourteen thousand parts, and their error is only 1 second in 600 years.

    Quartz

Quartz watch – you will be surprised to know that the most budgetary quartz movement will be many times more accurate than mechanical models. Standard quartz watches give an error of 15 seconds per month, while luxury models – only about 1-3 seconds per month. The championship among the most accurate quartz watches belongs to the Japanese brands Casio, Citizen and Seiko and others. The leader is Citizen with the Chronomaster model, which gives an error of only 5 seconds per year.

The accuracy of a quartz watch is mainly affected by the wear of the quartz crystal. Such watches are ideal for tourists, athletes, military, rescuers, divers and just people who lead an active lifestyle – they endure the effects of environmental conditions (magnetic field, temperature changes, high pressure, and so on), which practically does not affect their accuracy. .

    Electronic clock

Electronic watches, as we mentioned above, are a kind of quartz, which means they are not inferior to them in accuracy. They look impressive and modern, but they have a weak spot – a fragile liquid crystal display, so electronic watches are quite rare in the lines for lovers of extreme conditions. The exceptions are models equipped with a titanium case, sapphire crystal, and so on.

How to choose the most accurate watch

So, we have decided which watch is considered the most accurate – both in general and among the models that can be found in the public domain.

If you’re shopping for a printer for your office, finding a reliable unit is important. Nobody wants a printer that interrupts work by constantly needing new ink or toner or by having a scanner that isn’t up to par. So, to help you find the right printer for your needs, we’ve compiled a list of great printers that will fit the bill. We focus largely on office printers with a good cartridge system, fast printing speeds, and good scanning features, meaning you can get a variety of different jobs done quickly and efficiently.

We’ve tested over 125 printers, and below are our recommendations for the best printers for office use you can buy. You can also see our recommendations for the best printers for small businesses, the best all-in-one printers, and the best laser printers.

              1. Best Office Printer

The best office printer we’ve tested is the Brother MFC-L8905CDW. This all-in-one color laser model has nearly every feature you need: short warm-up time, fast printing speed, wide connectivity options, and an ADF-equipped scanner with single-pass duplex scanning. Plus, it produces incredibly sharp documents and is easy—and cheap— to maintain because the toner cartridges last a long time and are relatively inexpensive. You’ll have to spend extra to replace the drum since it’s a separate unit, but you won’t have to do it often as it’s usually good for around 30,000 prints.

If you find the MFC-L8905CDW too expensive and don’t mind compromising on a few features, cheaper variants are available. For example, the Brother MFC-L8900CDW (or MFC-L8895CDW at Costco) performs identically but has a smaller display. The Brother MFC-L8610CDW also has an 8.5″ x 11″ flatbed scanner and doesn’t support duplex scanning. You can see more details about the variants in the full review.

The one thing that laser printers aren’t good at is photo printing. If your office needs to print photos, we recommend getting the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 instead, an inkjet all-in-one with a refillable ink tank. It produces incredibly detailed and colorful photos and supports various paper sizes up to 13″ x 19″. The downside is that the scanner isn’t as feature-rich, as it lacks an automatic feeder and duplex scanning. The cheaper Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 variant is a good choice, too. It performs identically to the ET-8550 but only supports paper sizes up to 8.5″ x 11″.

If you only print black and white documents, you can save money with a monochrome laser model. We recommend the Brother MFC-L2750DW. It produces sharp documents, prints very quickly at over 30 pages per minute, and supports automatic duplex printing. In addition to the usual Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet connectivity, you get NFC support, so you can connect to the printer by tapping your NFC-enabled device. The scanner has an automatic feeder and scans double-sided sheets in a single pass.

For its page yield and running costs, the toner cartridge gets you around 2000 prints and is cheap, so it won’t cost much to maintain unless you print a lot. Plus, since it’s a monochrome printer, there’s only one cartridge to replace. There are XL cartridges available that’ll last longer, and the printer also accepts third-party toner, which might be cheaper. The drum is a separate unit you’ll have to spend extra to replace, but it’s usually good for around 12,000 prints, so you won’t have to do it too often.

This printer has many variants with slightly different performances and features; if you want to save money, you can get a variant with fewer bells and whistles, like the Brother MFC-L2710DW, which lacks duplex scanning and prints a little slower. Some variants, like the Brother MFC-L2690DWXL and the Brother MFC-L2759DW, come with additional high-yield cartridges that’ll last longer. You can see the specific differences between the variants in the full review.

Our pick for the best mid-range office printer is the Brother MFC-J4335DW, an all-in-one inkjet model. It has USB and Wi-Fi connectivity and supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service, so you don’t need to install drivers or third-party apps when printing from a mobile device. Its regular ink cartridges yield a large number of prints, around 2000 black and 800 color prints, and you can further increase the yield with XL ink cartridges. It prints black and color documents fairly quickly, and it takes about 11 seconds to warm up and get a single page out.

Unfortunately, although it has a scanner with an automatic document feeder, it doesn’t support duplex scanning, meaning scanning double-sided sheets can be very time-consuming. It prints black and color documents exceptionally well but isn’t the best choice for printing photos as printed pictures look grainy with washed-out blacks. It’s compatible with Brother’s outstanding mobile app, which allows you to print, scan, copy, perform maintenance tasks, and order supplies.

If you’re on a tight budget, get the Brother MFC-J1205W, also known as the Brother MFC-J1215W at Walmart. This simple all-in-one inkjet model has a sturdy build despite its budget price, and its design allows for easy access to paper jams. It produces very sharp documents; it’s just slow, as it can only print nine black or six color pages per minute. Unlike most budget printers, its page yield is high. Plus, the ink cartridges are cheap, meaning that the printer won’t cost much to maintain.

As this is a budget model, there are a few downsides, like the lack of an automatic feeder and Ethernet connectivity. Also, it doesn’t support duplex printing, meaning you’ll have to flip the pages manually when printing double-sided sheets.

If your office needs a printer that supports tabloid-size paper, go with the Epson EcoTank ET-15000. This supertank model yields thousands of prints, and its replacement ink is cheap, making it a great choice for printing large posters in bulk. It can reproduce a wide range of colors and very fine details in photos and graphics, but its color accuracy isn’t that great, and the photos look grainy. It doesn’t take long to wake from sleep, prints fairly quickly, and supports automatic duplex printing. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet, and it supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service.

              FYI

From the beginning of Wirecutter’s existence, we’ve been testing printers, totaling nearly 500 hours of research and trying dozens of models.

The reliable, simple-to-operate HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e, an all-in-one color inkjet, is a good choice for most people who need to print regularly at home. It’s easy to set up and cheap to run, it works with all kinds of devices, and it produces beautiful prints, from tax forms to glossy photos.

              The research

              • The best all-around home printer: Inkjet all-in-one
              • A home office powerhouse: Color laser printer
              • Affordable and reliable: Monochrome laser printer
              • Gallery-worthy prints at home: Photo printer

The best all-around home printer: Inkjet all-in-one

              Our pick

              HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e

This business-class machine checks all the boxes for a home office or small business: It’s faster, sharper, more durable, and more secure than our other picks.

              Buying Options

*At the time of publishing, the price was $230.

Who this is for: Families—particularly those with school-age kids—or anyone who needs a machine that can reliably do it all.

Why we like it: The OfficeJet Pro 9015e isn’t HP’s most powerful inkjet all-in-one, but it is the best one for most people. It is remarkably easy to set up and use, hitting a sweet spot of speed, print quality, and reliability that other printers can’t match. Its running costs are reasonable at 2.4¢ per page for black-and-white pages and 8.8¢ for color, with the option to join HP’s Instant Ink program for set-and-forget refills and cheaper color printing. And its sleek design helps it stand out from stodgy-looking competitors, which is almost enough to make us forgive its tiny touchscreen and flimsy output tray. Ultimately, though, our concerns are small. Printers still suck, but this one is a marked improvement over the dinosaurs of yore.

              Photo: Ben Keough

The 9015e is plenty fast for just about anyone who would use it in a home or home-office setting. HP rates it at up to 22 pages per minute with black-and-white documents and 18 ppm with color. In our testing, it got pretty close: With a text-only Word document, we saw 19. 6 ppm single-sided. Switching to PDF documents, we saw the typical drop-off in speed at 15 ppm in monochrome and 11.5 ppm in color. (These figures include the lag time between our hitting the print command on our computer and the first sheet being fed.) Printing two-sided documents slowed things to 12.8 ppm with Word files and 10 ppm with PDFs, which is still just fine. Scanning was similarly brisk at 9.5 ppm, single-sided, from the 35-sheet automatic document feeder. Duplex scanning dipped to 4.5 ppm, though, mostly because the ADF has to pull each sheet through twice to scan both sides.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The OfficeJet Pro 9015e’s biggest shortcoming is probably its single 250-sheet paper tray. Although that’s a standard size for a home printer, it may be less than what some people want for home and home-business purposes. Since there’s only one tray, you need to manually swap out your plain letter paper whenever you need to print on something else—whether it’s legal, labels, glossy photo stock, or résumé paper.

We’re less than enamored with HP’s dinky slide-and-fold output tray, which extends out of the front of the printer. One of the best things about the OfficeJet Pro 8720, our previous pick, was that it had a self-contained output tray behind its huge touchscreen display; the upshot was that your documents were less likely to fall out and end up strewn about your office floor. Not so with the new model.

Speaking of displays, the 9015e has a much smaller one than those on the previous generation of HP printers. It still works fine, but the reduced real estate does make it harder to hit the smallest on-screen buttons, such as the gear icon that takes you to the settings menu. Be prepared for a few frustrating mis-taps.

              Our pick

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw

This model produces crisp text and vibrant graphics, and has a low operating cost. But you can only use HP toner with it, so be prepared to pay full price come replacement time.

              Buying Options

              $549* from HP

*At the time of publishing, the price was $0.

Who this is for: Home- and small-business owners, or people who simply don’t want to deal with the clogs that can plague inkjets.

Why we like it: The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw offers an easy setup process, great printing quality, and reasonable operating costs for your home office or small business needs. This laserjet was up and running in no time thanks to an intuitive touchscreen that walks users through the process in under 10 minutes. Plus, mobile Wi-Fi printing and optional HP Smart app make printing sans computer a breeze. In our tests it printed out clear, crisp text down to a font size of 3 points, so even the tiniest of subscripts in legal documents and footer text in charts remain legible. It also printed high-quality, vibrant graphics on both copy and glossy paper. Upgrading to the high-yield ink toners ensures printing costs remain low, at just 3.3¢ per black and 16.3¢ per color print—but a full set of replacement toner costs $440.

The intuitive touchscreen walks users through the setup process in less than 10 minutes.

The main paper tray can hold up to 250 sheets.

The intuitive touchscreen walks users through the setup process in less than 10 minutes.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: Like most laser printers, the M283fdw comes with a skimpy set of “starter” toner cartridges good for 800 black-and-white and 700 color pages. High-yield replacements (HP 206X) are rated for 3,150 monochrome and 2,450 color pages, but a full set costs around $440. Be prepared to shell out for replacement toner within the first year or so. And this model weighs more than twice as much as our budget laser pick (the Brother HL-L2350DW), takes up significant space on a desk, and it probably won’t fit on a bookshelf, due to its 19-inch depth.

              Dimensions: 16.5 x 16.6 x 13.2 inches

              Budget pick

              Brother HL-L2350DW

Don’t really need a printer, but want to have one around for occasional jobs? This Brother is simple to set up, reliable, and affordable to operate.

Who this is for: People who don’t need a printer on a daily basis, but still appreciate having one for the few times a year when they need to print.

Why we like it: The Brother HL-L2350DW is simple, fast, dependable, easy to set up, and affordable to operate. And because it’s a laser printer, it can sit for weeks or months between print jobs and start up again without trouble. But although it’s a budget model, it’s not short on features. For the $100-ish asking price, you get automatic duplex printing capability, a large 250-sheet paper tray, reliable Wi-Fi connectivity, and the option to use high-yield toner cartridges—which means you don’t have to buy them very often. This printer works with Windows, MacOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, and Android. As for print quality, in our testing to choose the best laser printer, we found that this model is more than good enough for any text-based document, but it might need a few settings tweaks to produce a graphics-heavy document you’d want to hand out to other people. It’s also extremely compact, which means it can fit in tight spaces (like a bookcase shelf) where other printers can’t go.

Though it’s half the price of our color laser pick, the HL-L2350DW matches that model’s paper capacity with a roomy 250-sheet tray.

The HL-L2350DW can spit out up to 32 pages per minute, making quick work of large print jobs.

The HL-L2350DW’s single-line monochrome display isn’t the easiest to work with, but it is standard for an inexpensive monochrome laser printer, and it gets the job done. Photos: Marki Williams

Though it’s half the price of our color laser pick, the HL-L2350DW matches that model’s paper capacity with a roomy 250-sheet tray.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: It’s a little flimsy and the packaging isn’t great, so if you buy one, be sure to check for any plastic parts that might have gotten bumped out of place in transit. We don’t recommend printing via Brother’s iPrint&Scan software, because it results in excessive, detail-destroying contrast. And if you use a Chromebook, you should be aware that the printer’s default settings might prevent it from working with Google Cloud Print; to get it working, you need to disable IPv6 in the Networking section of the printer’s Web control panel. Lastly, just a reminder that this prints in only black-and-white ink—it can’t copy, scan, or fax either.

              Also great

              Epson SureColor P700

The P700 consistently delivers excellent-quality prints with long-lasting pigment inks. It also offers a color touchscreen and other appealing features. The premature need to replace the ink, however, is not so user-friendly.

              Buying Options

              $828* from Amazon

*At the time of publishing, the price was $770.

Who this is for: Serious photographers, or those who aspire to be.

Why we like it: The Epson SureColor P700 is capable of delivering gallery-quality prints up to 13 inches wide, and it can print panoramas up to 10 feet long. It can also print on a huge variety of media, including metal and CDs. Though its color photos caught our eye while we were testing for the best photo printer, we especially loved the black-and-white output; it’s as close as you can get to traditional darkroom prints at home. Those prints will last you a long time, too: The P600’s UltraChrome HD pigment ink is one of the longest-lasting consumer inks. The touchscreen interface is a cut above what you’d get from most rivals. Ink costs are reasonable, and you can get extra-large-capacity tanks, so you’ll need to fill up less often. In addition to Wi-Fi, this printer has USB and Ethernet connections for faster printing.

The Epson SureColor P700 is the only printer we tested with a tilting color touchscreen, which makes it simple to change paper type and sizing. It’s also fun to watch as your image progress displays on screen while the print is being made. Photo: Erin Lodi

Flaws but not dealbreakers: Although the physical installation of the printer is pretty straightforward, we found installing the drivers to be a challenge since there wasn’t a lot of instruction after “connect the printer to your computer.” The primary paper feeder had a hard time with glossy paper, and the only way we got it to work was by inserting one sheet at a time. Lastly, the starter ink cartridges included with the printer are not completely filled, but the machine doesn’t indicate this when you install them. You’ll know they’re almost done only when the printer starts to give the “low ink” warning.

              Dimensions: 20.3 by 14.5 by 17.3 inches
              Weight: 35.3 pounds
Cost per mL of ink: $1.52

New from Brother. Part 2: MFC-J491DW and MFC-J497DW

As some of you may remember, the first part of this material was devoted to the new budget multifunctional device Brother DCP-J572DW, today it’s time to get acquainted with two of his colleagues, with whom he went to conquer the market: Brother MFC-J491DW and MFC-J497DW. To be honest, the difference between these two representatives of the updated budget line of devices for the home is not entirely clear: on the official website of the Brother manufacturer, their technical specifications match to the smallest detail, and even the color of the recruits is the same. Let’s not guess, but consider this couple using the example of the first device with the Brother MFC-J491DW model index.

Laser Printing Waterproof Paper Features and Types

The topic of today’s conversation is unlikely to be of interest to a wide range of our readers, but we know for sure that there is a certain category of users of printing technology for whom the issue raised today is more than relevant. It will be a waterproof paper for printers, on which you can create high-quality products for appropriate operating conditions. What it happens to be, what are the features of such a material, the products of which manufacturers are considered the most authoritative – we will now talk about this and many other things.

New machines from Brother have been spotted on the market. Part 1

On the eve of the upcoming 2019, almost all manufacturers of printing equipment usually become more active, massively launching updated, less often completely new versions of their products on the market. This is quite logical, because during the festive period you can always seduce a potential buyer not only with the novelty itself, but also with its attractive promotional value. The Japanese company Brother, of course, does not stand aside from this generally accepted trend, because it, like other brands that are not particularly promoted compared to the giants of this area, needs to fight especially zealously for consumer loyalty. This is how the multifunctional middle-class devices with model indices DCP-J772DW and DCP-J89 saw the light of day.0DW, to which the “trio” of new, more budgetary solutions has recently been added. We will briefly consider the latter today.

HP LaserJet Pro M125nw: prints as well as scans and copies

Occupying about a fifth of the printing equipment market, the American company Hewlett-Packard certainly does not lack devices for all user audiences without exception, including the low-office segment. The multifunctional device HP LaserJet Pro M125nw, namely, we will talk about it today, is just a confident contender for the role of a “workhorse” for small work teams of 2-4 people, for whom reliability, efficiency and the ability to smoothly execute commands are a priority multiple users at once. For details, please follow the text.

Cleaning paper for laser printers: concept, types

Even the most modern, high-quality and advanced laser printers from the best manufacturers wear out and become unusable during operation, and one of the factors that significantly bring their premature death closer is ordinary household waste, dust and dirt that invariably get into working mechanisms. Yes, and the toner powder itself, as you know, has the ability to penetrate into the most inconceivable cracks. As a result of this, at first the quality of the output prints is noticeably reduced, and in the end, the device may even expect a sad result. There is only one conclusion from this: printers and multifunctional devices need to be periodically cleaned from the inside, and we will consider one of the options for such maintenance right now.

Canon PIXMA MX474: home color processor with a rich set of interfaces

Representatives of home and small offices are a rather demanding contingent, which is not always easy to please with the characteristics of printing equipment. On the one hand, a multifunctional device for this market segment should not be very expensive and extremely compact, on the other hand, developers need to skillfully implement the maximum possible number of office tools in it, such as modern interfaces, mobile-cloud functions and other useful options for sharing and remote use. within the work team. But Canon engineers, as you know, eat their bread for a reason, so creating a combine that meets such requirements is not at all a problem for them. One of the many proofs of this is the Canon PIXMA MX474 MFP, which is already waiting in line for review in our laboratory.

              HP ENVY 5055

              Wireless Multifunction Home Printer

Nowadays, there is nothing easier than to find an excellent printing device for yourself, which not only demonstrates excellent results in working with documents, but is literally “stuffed” with all the necessary modern tools for convenient operation. Now, many once-premium features have become standard on modest home printers, so you can’t go wrong either way – you just need to be clear about the budget and the tasks that will be assigned to the device. And even the former shocking costs of maintaining printing equipment can be easily avoided if you approach the process of owning a printer or multifunctional device correctly. Among the whole variety of equipment for working with documents, the products of the American company Hewlett-Packard stand out, occupying about a fifth of the entire market, and one of the brainchildren of which we decided to study in more detail. Meet the color combine HP ENVY 5055!

              Canon PIXMA iP8740:

              Wide Format Universal Photo Printer

Print-oriented printers and multifunctional devices that support media sizes up to A3, of course, cannot be called something outlandish or scarce, however, compared to conventional A4 solutions, their share in the total mass is negligible. Especially if we are not talking about some industrial installations for the professional production of large-format advertising materials, banners, signs and other similar products, but about ordinary custom machines for desktop placement. In this regard, when such a model falls into our field of vision, we immediately try to get to know it, sharing the results of this acquaintance with you. This time we will talk about the device of the authorship of the Japanese company Canon, namely the printer with the model index iP8740 from the PIXMA family.

Canon PIXMA iX6840: A3 office printer

In general, printers like the Canon PIXMA iX6840 can be safely considered universal in some way, designed for the same quality reproduction of both text documents and color photographs. Take at least a five-cartridge printing system and the ability to work without borders. However, for some reason, Canon’s marketers were modest, and classified their offspring as purely office solutions. Well, so be it – we will not argue, but we will go through the main technical characteristics of this device thoroughly.

In terms of functionality, productivity, quality of prints and copies, the device is quite good, especially considering the price. The appearance is quite modern, ergonomics also does not cause any particular complaints, but upon closer examination, not too pleasant nuances are found.

              12

We cannot draw sound conclusions regarding the Anycubic Photon Workshop slicer, simply because we do not have serious experience in preparing models for photopolymer printing. But the Anycubic Wash&Cure washing and curing devices are extremely useful, everyone who has tried them and can compare them with doing the same operations manually speaks about their convenience. Of course, you will have to spend money, but even without such devices, additional costs for photopolymer printing are still inevitable: at least you will have to buy some kind of UV lamp.

The impressions from the printer are quite positive: the device is neatly made, the overall design is thoughtful and convenient, and you can’t call the package poor. But the mSLA 3D printing technology itself made an ambiguous impression, and it does not replace the FDM that has long become familiar – each has its own niches, and the very fact that there is a choice in the budget segment pleases.

Printers and MFPs, Huawei – reviews

              24

With regard to the Huawei printing device, one cannot say that the first pancake came out lumpy. But our impressions of the Huawei PixLab X1 MFP are far from enthusiastic. The simplest control panel is more of a boon. We will not consider the extremely limited range of possible carriers as a serious minus. The capacity of the input and output trays is small, and it lags behind laser counterparts and is more typical for budget-class inkjet printers. Two interfaces for integration into an office or home network and a USB port for local connection to a computer, plus the ability to use the built-in wireless access point to interact with mobile devices – you can’t wish for more. The device has quite normal performance for its class: up to 28 A4 prints per minute. The quality of prints and copies of text documents is decent.

How USB became the most popular interface and why its versatility now confuses users: studying history and understanding the future

Over the past 25 years, the USB bus has changed significantly from all points of view. Once upon a time, a couple of unnecessary ports were lonely gathering dust on the back of computers, capable of providing a data transfer rate of 12 Mbps (for two) and giving out 2.5 W of power (each) … if there is something to connect to them. Since then, the maximum speeds have increased by 3000 (!) times, and it became possible to “feed” a fairly “serious consumer”, which requires several tens of watts. There are no longer a couple of ports, and sometimes more than a dozen, which allows you to place them in convenient places, and by themselves (in any case, the newfangled Type-C, which is becoming the main standard), they have become more convenient. So in fact, USB today and in the near future is a truly universal and very powerful interface that covers most of the needs of the mass user.

Canon’s imageRunner 2425 A3 line of monochrome laser multifunction printers is designed for small to mid-size offices with heavy print and scan volumes. The functionality, standard equipment, performance and print quality of the tested Canon imageRunner 2425i model are quite consistent with modern ideas about monochrome MFPs for offices, small and medium enterprises: there are three interfaces for connection, a reversing automatic document feeder and duplex, work with removable USB drives and mobile devices.

In the case of very dynamic games and with a high refresh rate, the result is likely to be significantly affected by how long it takes from clicking on the mouse button to making a shot. The software and hardware complex developed by us allows measuring the delay from pressing the mouse button to the arrival of a system message in the program. Preliminary results have shown that gaming mice can have a button lag on the order of 5 ms, while conventional mice can have a delay of several tens of milliseconds.

Razer products are well known to gamers, but for users who are passionate about creative work or immersed in the routine of office life, this peripheral manufacturer also has interesting offers. It is logical that products that are focused on work or creativity, and not entertainment, are endowed with special solutions both in the field of design and ergonomics, as well as in terms of technology. In this review, we’re looking at the Razer Pro Click Mini office mouse and the Pro Glide XXL widescreen mousepad.

For an amateur photographer, even an advanced one, who more or less regularly prints his pictures on paper, a relatively inexpensive six-color model with CISS will be useful. Perhaps the most significant claim in this case will be the high price of ink compared to office four-color counterparts, but the lack of duplex and ADF in the device for photo printing is not a significant drawback.

The reviewed webcams do not have built-in “mathematics” that recognizes faces, shapes and other eyes. There is no accompanying software that would entrust the responsibility of this recognition to the computer. However, many users simply want to get a clean, high-quality signal with which you can do whatever you want. And get it quickly, without installing drivers and proprietary software, just by connecting the device to a PC, smartphone or tablet. The reviewed cameras have serious advantages: Hikvision DS-UL4 has an original design and a built-in backlight with adjustable brightness, high light sensitivity, a sensitive microphone system, and good resolution.

The Canon Pixma G3420 is an inexpensive version of a CISS printing device, in which an attractive price is due to the lack of many “amenities”, including duplex and an automatic document feeder. An important feature is the user-replaceable absorber, which, in case of intensive use, will eliminate regular visits to the service center.

Today, under the Pantum brand, Russian consumers are offered more than two dozen models of laser printers and MFPs, as well as consumables for them. Monochrome multifunctional device Pantum M7100DW is the senior model in the line of three devices of A4 format, differing in equipment. This is a relatively inexpensive device that has all the most necessary features, including an automatic document feeder (though one-sided), Ethernet and Wi-Fi network adapters, USB ports for connecting to a computer and for removable drives where you can save scans. The device has good performance for its class: up to 33 prints per minute. During testing, we did not find significant flaws in the hardware, but the Russification of the MFP menu is not encouraging, and the instruction in Russian makes the saddest impression.

At first glance, the Razer Kiyo Pro webcam is a “niche” product, designed mainly for an audience already familiar with Razer products and, possibly, being fans this brand. However, getting the sensitivity and detail of the Razer Kiyo Pro from a regular webcam is next to impossible. This quality is usually achieved with a camcorder or camera that sends the video stream to the computer through a special device, a capture card. The Canon Pixma GM4040 model distinguishes from the general range the possibility of installing a CMY cartridge to get color printing. The equipment is quite consistent with modern requirements for an office MFP: there are two trays with a decent total capacity by the standards of the class, a duplex, an automatic document feeder (albeit one-sided), three interfaces – USB, LAN, Wi-Fi. The print speed is a bit slow, there are faster analogues, but the lag is not critical. The print quality is quite sufficient for office tasks. A large supply of black ink included in the package will be a nice bonus.

The Avision AV332U belongs to the class of feed-through scanners, which are otherwise called in-line or document scanners: they can only work with single sheets of paper that are loaded into the automatic document feeder and pulled through before fixed scanning line. Advanced devices, which include the device in question, have two such lines, which allows you to process both sides of double-sided documents at the same time. The performance of this model is quite high, and the relatively low cost is due to the reduction of the list of interfaces to one and the absence of a number of additional amenities that are not always in demand.

The PW315 webcam can be considered the “golden mean” in the AVerMedia camera line. The Full HD frame size is more than enough for streaming and webcasting, and the high frame rate makes the streaming smooth. Good light sensitivity eliminates the need to additionally illuminate the broadcast scene. Wide viewing angle allows you to use the system of automatic positioning and zoom. And for especially shy users, a protective curtain is provided. The PW313 webcam, the youngest in the family, almost catches up with the middle sister in resolution and sensitivity, but it has a narrow viewing angle and, as a result, there is no support for ePTZ technology. It’s just a good everyday webcam for users without too many requests.

The company divides its document scanners into mobile, compact and desktop, the latter also includes this model, which is currently the youngest of them and the most affordable. Best Nikon Telephoto Lenses | Cameralabs

If you want to get close to a distant subject, you need a telephoto lens. These are ideal for sports and wildlife photography, along with capturing candid shots of people at a distance. They’re also great for getting closer to details in both natural and urban environments which are lost in a larger view. Their broad flexibility coupled with a desire to zoom-closer than a standard kit lens makes a telephoto model the natural choice when most people start shopping for a second lens. There’s a large variety of telephoto lenses out there and the first question you need to ask yourself is how close you want to get to your subject. If you’re shooting portraits or close-range action, then a zoom in the equivalent range of 70-200mm will be ideal.

If you need to get closer to mid-range action or start photographing wildlife though, then you’ll want at least 300mm at your disposal, and if you really get into wildlife, and especially bird photography, you’ll want the longest lens you can afford. While the natural desire for many people is to always go for a zoom lens, don’t rule-out fixed-primes. If you always find yourself zooming-into the maximum focal length, you won’t miss out on any flexibility, but you’ll enjoy a lens that’s typically superior in overall quality.

Anyone shooting action or working in low light will also appreciate a lens with a larger aperture, indicated by a small f-number, such as f2.8. These may make the lens bigger, heavier and more expensive than models with average apertures, but have the major advantage of gathering more light. This allows quicker shutter speeds to be selected, which in turn enable you better freeze action or reduce camera-shake without having to increase your camera’s sensitivity and compromise the image quality. Smaller f-numbers also allow you to achieve greater blurring on backgrounds, which is desirable on many action, wildlife or distant portrait shots.

              Best Nikon Telephoto Lenses

With the 105mm f1.4 ART, Sigma has produced one of their finest lenses in their acclaimed Art line: it’s extra sharp and has the most beautiful Bokeh I’ve ever seen. Plus it’s the only f1.4 105mm lens you can get for your Canon DSLR or Sony mirrorless camera. It might be on the large and very heavy side and has no optical stabilization but its optical performance makes the new Sigma replace the Nikon 105mm f1.4E as the reference large aperture 105mm lens. Thus the Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art easily earns a Highly Recommended.

If you like a light package, have a limited budget, and need the reach of a 400mm telephoto zoom, the new Tamron 100-400mm is a good choice: it may not be as cheap or small as the Sigma 100-400mm but it is the lightest modern zoom reaching 400mm and produces very sharp images – if the focus is nailed right. Because its biggest let-down is the somewhat disappointing AF performance: it produces more outliers than other lenses I’ve recently tested – at least on my copy. But all-in-all the Tamron 100-400/4.5-6.3 VC certainly earns a recommendation.

With the AF-P 70-300mm f4.5-5.6E VR Nikon launches their best 70-300mm zoom to date: It is sharp across the zoom-range right into the corners of a high resolution full-frame sensor with little color aberrations and distortions, has good image stabilization, is light and relatively small and offers fast, super-quiet, and reliable autofocus – if you have a body that supports the new AF-P. It is well sealed against the elements and has a reasonable price. In light of these advantages I wouldn’t overrate the pretty strong light fall-off and weak Bokeh of this lens.

The Sigma 135mm f1. 8 Art is a bright mid-length telephoto lens available in mounts for Canon, Nikon and Sigma DSLRs with full-frame sensors and can also be used with Sony E-Mount bodies using Sigma’s MC-11 mount converter. I think this lens is Sigma’s best yet in their Art line: extra sharp, with only minor color aberrations and a beautiful bokeh. In addition it’s the only f1.8 135mm lens you can get for your Canon or Nikon DSLR. It might be on the large and heavy side, has no image stabilization, and it definitively is not cheap but all-in-all the Sigma 135mm f1.8 Art earns a Highly Recommended.

Tamron’s new 70-200/2.8 zoom is a very competent lens: It’s almost up there with the best Nikon has to offer, even sometimes surpassing the new Nikon 70-200/2.8E VR in image quality. It offers a very effective image stabilization of almost 5 stops even if it could not suppress the mirror-slap of the D810 completely and has a fast and reliable AF. And as its price is almost half of what you pay for the Nikkor the new Tamron deservedly earns a Highly Recommended rating.

The new Sigma 85/1.4 Art finally brings Sigma’s 85mm prime up to the performance one can expect from a modern lens designed with 36+ MP sensors in mind: It offers the best performing FF/FX-corners and the softest Bokeh of any 85mm lens I know. Plus it is astonishingly resilient against strong contra-light. And although it is not the sharpest in the center, has a little more longitudinal CAs than others, and is a huge and heavy beast of a lens I’d award Sigma’s new 85/1.4 Art a Highly Recommended. But this is under the caveat that the AF-issues are singular problems with my copy of the lens.

This is simply the best 70-200/2. 8 zoom you can buy for your Nikon camera. It combines the best image quality in its class with a very good image stabilization, an acceptable size and weight, and a professional build. Thus Nikon’s new 2.9x telephoto zoom deservedly earns a Highly Recommended rating.

Improved image quality combined with good image stabilization, improved sealing, shorter minimum focus distance, and an acceptable size and weight makes Tamron’s new 4x super-telephoto a compelling package. It’s a pity that Tamron didn’t position it as the successor to their A011 model at the same price-point. But it certainly earns a Recommended rating.

Nikon has taken on-board the feedback it received on its 58/1. 4 lens: not only did they produce an f1.4 lens at a unique focal length of 105mm which has a 20% better reach over a 85mm lens and gets you better background isolation but they also endowed it with very good image quality to boot: Easy to focus, sharp across the full-frame sensor, and with only little CA. You can easily use this lens wide open and get sharp and contrasty shots right into the corners of a high resolution full-frame sensor. As such its optical performance is almost up there with the Zeiss Otus and it delivers a better Bokeh. It is a bit on the fat and costly side but all-in-all the Nikon 105mm f1.4E earns a Highly Recommended.

Samyang did an excellent job when they designed their version of a 135/2.0 lens: For a 500 EUR lens to meet and even exceed the optical quality of an 1800 EUR Zeiss lens is quite an eye-opener. Only the plasticky feeling of the lens is a let-down. So if you need a robust long-lived lens that can take a beating, the Samyang may not be your first choice. But if you don’t bang around your equipment that might not bother you too much, and don’t forget you can replace this lens three to four times for the price of just one of the Zeiss versions. Like the Zeiss, there’s no image stabilization and no autofocus drive inside that might break-down. But you should clearly understand whether you can cope with manual focus before considering getting this lens.

The best image quality in its class combined with a reasonable price, a good image stabilization, and an acceptable size and weight earns Nikon’s new 2.5x super-telephoto a Highly Recommended rating. Good points: Very good quality over 36Mp full-frame, even wide open; good image stabilization; constant f/5. 6 focal ratio; works well with 1.4x teleconverter; weather sealing; quiet, fast, and precise AF operation; maximum magnification of 1:4.0 in MF. Bad points: Not the cheapest super-telephoto zoom; not the lightest lens in its class; only 2.5x zoom range.

Good points: Excellent image quality across a 36MP full-frame sensor even wide open; smallest and lightest full-frame 300/4.0 lens; excellent image stabilization at low speeds; weather sealing at the lens-mount; quiet and fast AF operation; maximum magnification of 1:4.
Bad points: VR not working properly around 1/160 – 1/80 on the samples I tested; fresnel flare under extreme conditions; expensive.

Sigma’s 150-600mm Sport is a highly desirable lens for sport and wildlife photographers who demand a super-telephoto reach without the stratospheric cost of big primes, or even the highest-end zooms from Canon and Nikon. The build quality is excellent: it’s heavy, but reassuringly built with full weather sealing. The AF, when coupled with a decent DSLR, is fast, confident and very usable for sports. And the optical quality in my tests proved to be very respectable across the entire range. There may be vignetting and evidence of coloured fringing, but both are easily corrected in RAW conversions, and importantly the lens delivers where it should with fine, well-resolved details right into the corners of full-frame images. Compare closely with Tamron’s 150-600mm and Sigma’s own cheaper Contemporary version.

Good points: Excellent image quality across a 36Mp full-frame sensor even wide open; excellent image stabilization; weather sealing; quiet, fast, and precise AF operation; maximum magnification of 1:5.1; relatively light weight. Bad points: Very expensive; flimsy tripod collar.

Good points: Excellent image quality in the DX image-circle even wide open; very good performance well into the FX corners at longer focal lengths; excellent image stabilization; weather sealing; quiet, fast, and precise AF operation; maximum magnification of 1:3.3: light weight compared to f2.8 models. Bad points: Not cheap even before investing in the missing tripod mount; maximum aperture of f4.0 limits shallow depth of field effects; some visible loCA.
