It was a gift for my son and he was happy to have storage for his warhammer troops. It was lite weight, seemed durable, and had lots of foam slots. My only concern was with the top foam the lid had a gap when latched, but I don’t think it’ll be a problem. It came just in time! I’d buy another. Thanks!

Walking through the caves
May 2019 • Traveling alone
I’ll start by saying that I didn’t immediately find the entrance: it’s right in the middle of the bridge, and on the right , and on the left. Entrance 7€ per adult, 6€ per student (I don’t remember the cost of children’s tickets). The place is unusual and worth a visit. I strongly do not recommend going down very deep: the caves are exactly the same everywhere, and then it will not be easy to go up. There are many “windows” in the caves from which a good view opens up, but for the sake of the view it’s definitely not worth climbing into them (the view is not worse at all from the bridge itself).

In the 17th century, caves and tunnels with a total length of 23 km were carved into the rocks for defensive purposes. Part of the casemates in the Bock rock bears the same name and could accommodate 1,200 soldiers and 50 artillery pieces. Thanks to these structures, Luxembourg was called the “Gibraltar of the North”. Buildings with the Old Town are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Mysterious passages and dark chambers
2018 • With friends
Casemates Bok appeared in the 17th century and stretched for 23 km. These are mysterious passages and dark chambers. In one of the underground rooms there is an exposition dedicated to the history of this place. During WWII civilians fled from air raids. Today, only 17 km of casemates have been preserved. Bock casemates are open for tourists, the entrance is near the Alzet River. The excursion program includes a visit to the archaeological crypt. Open from March to October 10:00-17:00. Admission for adults – 6 EUR, for children – 3 EUR. But, to be honest, they were not impressed. If you come for a couple of days, and the town is tiny, then you can visit. If for one day. then feel free to skip it.

Cool place for 1 day
Sep 2018 • With friends
The view of the city is amazing. It is worth climbing inside the Casemates, cool moves, views and history in general. They are a labyrinth of galleries and underground corridors with a total length of 23 km, carved by the Spaniards under the ledge of the Bok rock in 1644. Once on this rock there was a castle around which Luxembourg arose, but it was destroyed in the 19th century under the Treaty of London and the casemates are all that remains of it.

Casemates of the fortress
July 2018 • Family vacation
Casemates of the fortress are located in the wall and underground. Many old houses have exits to casemates, where residents hid even during the Second World War. Unfortunately, a persistent toilet smell is the place to be.

Since Luxembourg does not have many attractions, we decided to go. At first it was boring, but then we went down to the lower level, and then the adventure began. We were very happy when we found a way out. Not bad. It will take no more than an hour. Go if you have time and desire

Vivint pricing and contracts
Vivint offers a few payment options. You can choose Vivint Flex Pay and finance the cost of equipment (which will be on top of your monthly monitoring fee), or you can pay for your equipment up front and pick up monitoring on a month-to-month basis. If you go the contract route, you’re looking at a commitment of 42 or 60 months. (That’s five years!)
But Vivint recently told us that you can put $0 down when you choose to finance so that long-term contract might be worth it for little to nothing due up front. (We’ve got the scoop on how to get out of your Vivint contract too.)
Shopping in Canada?
Vivint’s Canada pricing is the same as its US pricing, and it’s always in USD. The only difference is financing: Canadian customers must finance systems for only 12 months rather than 60.
If you pick the no-contract option, the up-front equipment cost can run you upwards of $1,000 to outfit your home with the basics. That’s a lot of sticker shock, especially when you look at DIY security companies like SimpliSafe that offer basic equipment packages starting under $300.
You can learn more in our Canadian Security Systems guide.
Vivint equipment and fees
We’ve said it before (and now we’re going to say it again!)—but you won’t find a security system with more smarts than Vivint. From security cameras and smart thermostats to automatic door locks, Vivint has a variety of home automation devices to choose from.

For busy families, Vivint’s smart home capabilities can do everything from increasing face time after school (thanks to Vivint’s interactive smart cameras) to cutting down on wasted electricity with a smart thermostat. These can be programmed to routines or adjusted remotely via the Vivint app.
No matter how busy you are, Vivint smart home technology helps you manage (and protect) your home from anywhere and at any time. Because Vivint Home Security has integrated smart home with home security, all the different pieces work together with your existing security system—without having to buy different devices from a multitude of companies (and crossing your fingers that they’ll work together).
Here’s a rundown of the smart home perks that make Vivint stand out in the field of home security and home automation.
Watch and listen from anywhere. All of Vivint’s smart security cameras use motion detection, two-way communication, night vision, and instant alerts to keep you in the know both inside and outside your home. Plus, the new Smart Deter feature catches “lurkers” in the act and shoos them away with sound and light.
Keep things locked up tight. With smart locks, you can control access to your home even if you’re across town (or at the beach). Whether you have kids coming home after school or need to let in the pet sitter, you can skip making copies of keys thanks to easy keyless entry. Vivint smart locks are Kwikset locks. Learn more in our Kwikset smart lock review.
Save money and cut down on waste. Vivint’s smart thermostat can help you save money every month. The Element Thermostat learns your habits and adapts to your needs. If you usually turn up the heat before settling in to binge on your latest Netflix obsession, this thermostat might click on before you can grab a blankie.
Put a lid on ovenfires (or any fires). Vivint’s smart smoke alarm comes with a built-in transmitter that instantly connects you to the Vivint monitoring center when triggered, but the best part is that the Vivint smoke detector can actually shut down airflow to choke out flames while help is on the way.
Never leave the garage door open again. Vivint’s Garage Door Controller lets you know if you drove away without putting the door down—and you don’t have to turn around to go home and close it. You can use remote control to close the garage door from the gym, the grocery store, or your office.
Privacy concerns?
If you’re worried about video footage being uploaded to the cloud, Vivint has you covered. We asked them how they protect customers’ privacy.
Vivint doesn’t track data from customer’s video footage. Video footage is encrypted from the Vivint Smart Hub all the way to the cloud and back. Only customers can decide who is allowed to access their Vivint system, including their video feeds.
Image: SafeWise
Vivint smart home compatibility
Surprisingly, Vivint Home Security has limited compatibility with third-party brands, but they make up for it with their full suite of proprietary smart home products.
The downside is if you’ve already started down the smart home path you might be disappointed to find out you need to buy duplicate items because the Vivint system isn’t compatible with what you’ve already got.
On a broad scale, Vivint is currently compatible with only Google Nest and Amazon Echo.

Vivint Smart Hub: Vivint smart home system
Image: SafeWise
For years, Vivint was a standout with its innovative Vivint SkyControl Panel that was the first to offer built-in two-way voice communication. And now Vivint is making smart home and security history again with its Smart Hub that acts as a smart home hub and can support up to six security cameras.
The most impressive part is that Vivint has solved the problem of multiple cameras bogging down your home Wi-Fi connection. Because security cameras use Wi-Fi to stream live security video, the more cameras you have, the slower your Wi-Fi gets.
But the Vivint Smart Hub has home video technology that lets you set up all the cameras you need to keep an eye on your home without eating up all your bandwidth.
Vivint mobile app
The Vivint Smart Home app is an easy way to keep tabs on your home 24/7 no matter where you are. You can check the live video feed from your home’s security cameras or remotely control alarm system from your phone.
The app is comparable to the navigation you’ll find on the control panel, which makes flip-flopping between the two a bit easier. Plus, Vivint told us they have a whole team dedicated to keeping its app user-friendly, easy to use, and packed with features that boost both your home’s security and its smart home automation.
Of all the home security apps we’ve reviewed, Vivint’s is our favorite. See how it stacks up in our full review of home security phone apps and check out our review of the Vivint app.
Water safety feature
Vivint has a handy feature for the Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro that aims to make your backyard safer. It lets you create an additional detection zone around your pool using the Vivint app. When someone enters the detection area, the camera will automatically record a clip and send a notification to your phone.
How to install Vivint
Image: SafeWise
Professional installation is your only choice with Vivint Smart Home. But we think that’s a good thing, especially when you’re dealing with this level of home security technology and smart home integration.
We like that you get to see exactly what’s happening. Plus, the added perk of a personal training session on how to operate your new Vivint home security system is a valuable bonus.
Timing
The biggest downside of pro installation is the time commitment—and if you work full time, that could mean using up precious PTO hours. Vivint doesn’t have the best track record for quick installs, either.
Depending on where you live, you could wait up to a week to get your Vivint system installed. That’s a long time for people who are eager to have their home and property protected after a break-in or buying a new house.
Installation costs
Vivint’s installation fees used to run from $99 up to $199. But Vivint changed its installation pricing to a flat $49 fee no matter which monitoring plan you choose or the amount of equipment installed. We’re not sure if this is a permanent change, so be sure to verify your installation costs when you schedule your installation appointment.
Vivint’s in-home security consultation
Image: SafeWise
As part of its top-tier offerings, Vivint Home Security is one of just a few companies that provides a complementary security consultation. A Vivint security technician conducts an assessment that identifies security risks and offers solutions.
The consultation ensures you have all the equipment you need to protect your home. And it makes sure that equipment (like window, door, and motion sensors) is installed in the right location to maximize your home’s security.
The assessment takes place in tandem with your professional installation. The plus side is that you can add equipment you overlooked or eliminate extras you don’t really need. But the biggest drawback is that this opportunity for positive customer interaction can come across as salesy, which makes it hard for some customers to trust the recommendations.

Vivint customer service and support
This used to be one of Vivint’s weaker points. The company got off to a bumpy start when it first hit the home security scene, but it’s made big strides in this area over the past few years.
Vivint told us that customer feedback is a top priority for Vivint support and the company works hard to implement recommended changes. Those efforts seem to be paying off. Vivint has received many accolades and higher ratings from both home security system review third-party sources and Vivint customers.

Are Vivint security systems right for you?
When we call Vivint a high-end, full-service home security system, we’re not kidding around. Here’s a quick look at what you’ll get from a Vivint home security system:
24/7 professional alarm monitoring
Professional installation
Total customization to fit your home
Personal introduction to the system and the Vivint app
Vivint smart home app to control everything
Smart security cameras, including a doorbell camera, with advanced safety features
Professional security system maintenance and repairs
Lifetime equipment warranty
Multiple contract options
Even though Vivint systems have made big improvements to its customer policies, including a $0 down financing option and the chance to go contract-free with an outright equipment purchase, it’s still a pricier security system.
To take full advantage of Vivint home security systems’ advanced tech and high-end security features, you’ll pay upwards of $40 a month, compared to the average $31 monthly pro monitoring cost among the security systems we’ve tested and reviewed.
That said, we think this is a case of “you get what you pay for”—and with Vivint smart home security, you get a whole lot of security innovation and quality service for your monthly fee.
If you’ve got room in your security budget and want the reassurance that comes with professional installation and cutting-edge home security equipment, Vivint should top your list.
A home security system is a good investment
Vivint found that homes with full surveillance systems cost an average of $363 more per square foot versus those without any security features. So if you’re thinking of resell value, adding a security system to your home is a good idea.
Vivint’s going to cost you more overall. But you get what you pay for, and Vivint is one of the only home security companies that’s constantly innovating and adding new bells and whistles to its equipment and app offerings.
Instead of delivering the same white-label equipment and cookie-cutter app that many other companies do, Vivint made its own—a big reason why the company’s higher prices are worth it.
And the addition of a no-contract option for professional monitoring shows that Vivint’s listening—and responding—to the demands of home security customers, unlike some of its competitors.

Final word
Vivint is a best home security system top pick because it lets you take the wheel when it comes to putting together the right security system for your needs. Everything is 100% customizable, and you won’t find a smarter home security solution. But Vivint’s high-end equipment comes at a price and requires the expertise of professional installers.
Thankfully, the company has brought its monthly monitoring fees in line with industry standards, so you’re not going to pay much more for 24/7 protection from Vivint. Even so, DIYers and budget-constrained folks may want to look elsewhere for the right home security solution.

What is the best home security system?
If you have the money to spend, a professional home security system is the best route. Due to its affordable service, no-contract options and compatibility with dozens of third-party smart home gadgets from smart locks to smart thermostats, our top-rated, professionally installed home security system is currently Comcast Xfinity Home. For those looking to spend less and are happy to set it up themselves, DIY is the clear choice. Our top-rated pick for DIY home security system is Ring Alarm Pro, not only due to its reliable security performance but all of the bells and whistles that most other DIY systems don’t have, including backup Wi-Fi in case of power outages, Alexa Guard Plus integration and the option for local storage and processing.
Whether you go the DIY home security route or opt for a professionally installed setup, choosing the right security system for your home is a big decision. Once you start your research, you’ll realize there’s no shortage of options ranging from highly customizable DIY systems available from brands like Ring, SimpliSafe and Wyze to low-hassle, professional monitoring services from ADT, Vivint and others.
More competition in the home security market brings new advances, features and compatibilities with internet-connected gadgets like indoor and outdoor cameras, video doorbells and smart locks. It also brings new vulnerabilities, including an increased risk of hacking. It’s a lot to take in, and today’s home security providers don’t always make it easy to comparison-shop.
That’s where we come in. We’ve put security systems to the test, from top-of-the-line monitored systems with professional installation to wallet-friendly DIY home security system alternatives, including a home security camera (or cameras) and smart home devices monitored via a smartphone app. We’ll be updating this article as we go based on hands-on experience so you can be sure you’re investing in top home security systems.
Best home security systems of 2023
Other home security systems we’ve tested
Besides the systems above, we’ve tested many of the top competitors, including Abode, Abode Iota, Frontpoint, Kangaroo, Ring Alarm, Cove and ADT. Abode and Abode’s all-in-one security camera Iota were both solid contenders that couldn’t quite match SimpliSafe’s price, but they’re worth checking out if you’re interested in DIY smart home systems for small spaces or systems that don’t require monitoring subscriptions. Ring Alarm is another solid DIY option, but the company’s problems with police partnerships tip us away from recommending it — especially when a company like Wyze offers such a strong, budget-friendly alternative.
DIY systems Frontpoint, Cove and Kangaroo all had features to recommend them. Frontpoint’s system is reliable and its hardware is reasonably priced, but its $45 monthly monitoring fee is too expensive. Kangaroo, by contrast, is incredibly wallet-friendly but its doorbell camera is terrible, so Wyze keeps its edge in the budget category too. Cove Home Security, despite reasonable hardware prices, fell to an overly restrictive subscription model that doesn’t allow for self-monitoring or app access without significant monthly fees.
ADT, one of the biggest brands we’ve tested, was broadly disappointing. It’s too expensive, requires a contract and the app is clunky. We’ve tested AT&T Digital Life, too, though we’ve removed the system from consideration since the company stopped installing it for new customers.
We have yet to test Brinks Home, though we hope to include it in our considerations in the coming months.

What to consider when choosing a home security system
When choosing a home security system for your home, you may be tempted to start with deciding between a DIY setup or one that is professionally installed and monitored. However, when you consider the equipment, installation, monitoring options and other features you want, you’ll probably reach a DIY-versus-pro system decision along the way. Here’s some more parameters to consider when shopping around for home security systems:
Equipment and installation
Do you just need to keep watch over your entryways? A good video doorbell for your front door and an outdoor camera covering the back may be all you need — easy to install and monitor yourself. However, if you want to keep closer tabs on your home inside and out with 24/7 monitoring and quick access to emergency response services, you’ll want a more robust system. DIY and professional brands offer home security bundles with most, if not all, of the equipment you’d need to get started and the ability to add single devices as needed.
SimpliSafe home security systems can be easily tailored to your needs. Just simply add or subtract hardware and equipment as you please.
CNET
Most home security devices are compatible with Alexa and Google Home smart hubs, but if you prefer Apple HomeKit or another smart home ecosystem, you may have to do a bit more shopping and comparing to find a system compatible with your existing smart home devices. Don’t fret over compatibility too much, however, as Matter will make it easier to connect previously noncompatible devices.
Keep in mind all that equipment will need to be installed. While there isn’t much to installing a security camera or even a wired video doorbell, whole-home systems can be a bit more demanding to install and set up. If you’d rather leave that to an expert, and have them walk you through how to use the system, a professional home security service may be the way to go.
Monitoring, alerts and emergency features
Arlo’s app is simple and intuitive to use.
Karen Freeman/CNET
Virtually all home security systems allow for self-monitoring, likely via an app on your phone. They’ll also send you push notifications when there’s an event, such as when a package is delivered to your doorstep.
Consider whether you want to be in charge of all the monitoring or if you’d like some support. A professional system will come with 24/7 monitoring, but you may be able to add professional monitoring to your DIY system for a fee, depending on the brand you choose.
More advanced features, such as facial recognition, broken glass detection and communication with emergency services may not be available from all manufacturers and devices. Consider the level of monitoring you want, and who you want to do it, along with the emergency response options, when choosing a home security system.
Costs, upfront and ongoing
I listed “cost” last here for a reason. A complete home security system will likely cost you at least a couple of hundred bucks, so be prepared for that. There’s the potential to spend lots more on equipment, of course, or a lot less — maybe a $35 security camera will satisfy your security needs.
Still, the upfront cost of a home security system is roughly the same from one brand to the next, so don’t let cost be the deciding factor. Find a system that has the equipment, installation options, monitoring and features you want first, then compare pricing.
That said, ongoing costs can carry a bit more weight when choosing the best security system. Expect ongoing monthly fees from a professional service and possibly a contract to lock you into those fees for a year or two. While not ideal, signing a contract may come with free equipment or installation and lower upfront costs.
If you’re comfortable with self-monitoring, DIY systems may not come with any ongoing costs. Monthly subscriptions (without a contract) for cloud storage, enhanced features and possibly even professional monitoring are typically an option with DIY systems, often for lower monthly fees than professional services.

Security alarm systems. Types and equipment. Features
Security systems, video surveillance and alarms are increasingly used in our lives. Security alarm systems are used to detect the penetration of unauthorized persons to the object of protection and create a special alert. The alarm can notify by sound or light. Sound alerts are generated by various bells, sirens and other devices. Light alerts are given by LED assemblies, signal lamps.
The purpose and type of the alarm system depends on the type of sensors installed in the security system. The sensors can respond to the following actions:
Water intrusion.
Change in temperature.
Presence of vibration, sound or smoke.
Appearance of a moving object.
Opening windows and doors.
All types of sensors have the same task: to send a signal to the control unit about the detection of any changes in the monitored area.
Wired and wireless
In addition to the type of events, burglar alarm systems differ in signal transmission method: wired and wireless. In wired security systems, the sensors and the control unit are connected to each other by a cable through which the signal is received. The advantage of such systems is the low cost of equipment. The disadvantage is the laborious wiring.
In wireless security systems, the control unit and the sensor are connected to each other by radio signals. Installation of such a system is simple, since there is no need for wiring a complex network of wires. However, the cost of wireless equipment is higher compared to a wired system.
Centralized and autonomous
According to the method of responding to information from sensors, security systems are divided into centralized, which are connected to a central monitoring point, and autonomous, which are ordinary “chants”.
Autonomous Intrusion Alarm Systems When a sensor event occurs, the siren is turned on, which attracts the attention of other people. These systems are very simple and have a low cost, so they are widely used. But autonomous systems do not have great efficiency. Experienced robbers can easily turn off these beeps and quickly do their job. However, in a fire, the efficiency of autonomous systems can be at its best. The temperature sensor will react to the high temperature and turn on a loud siren, which will attract the attention of people to call the fire department.
Centralized alarm systems are more reliable, as they transmit a signal to the dispatcher, who will quickly send security guards to the place of penetration of unauthorized persons. When a video surveillance system is installed at an object, the owner of the object or the dispatcher can visually observe what is happening at the object. Centralized systems have an increased cost, and you will also have to pay a monthly fee.
Alarm systems with auto redial
If there is no observation point in the required area, or if the payment for security is expensive, you can install a security system with automatic dialing. The principle of its operation is that the alarm signal is sent to a fixed cell phone number.
You can send a message via SMS, or to a landline phone. The advantage of systems with automatic dialing is the availability of remote control functions, as well as audio control.
Automatic alarm systems
There are several automatic processes in any security system. This can be detecting intrusion attempts, creating an alarm notification, etc. But there are systems with fully automatic operation, which are even called an intelligent security system.
There are also functions to automatically check the health of the security system. The sensors are self-testing and the data is transmitted digitally. Such systems operate at the hardware-software level.
The software component makes it possible to perform the following intelligent functions:
Possibility of embedding the alarm in other systems.
Separation of operator access rights to the system.
Automatic control of the system according to a certain algorithm or incident.
Many modern alarm sensors use algorithms in their work that make it possible to analyze the totality of factors acting on the detector. This reduces the number of false alarms while increasing its effectiveness and reliability.
Alarm circuit
Consider a typical burglar alarm circuit. It is the middle between the principle and structural diagram. Connection of certain devices and detectors is carried out according to the scheme specified in the technical documentation. But the general rules for organizing the scheme remain standard. The classical principle of constructing an alarm circuit for the protection of an apartment, house or cottage is shown below.
The first line of signaling blocks the windows and doors of emergency exits with sensors with different operating principles: for opening – magnetic contact, for glass breaking – acoustic. If necessary, vibration sensors can be connected to detect wall breaks.
The 2nd line of the security system consists of electronic optical devices of beam, surface and volumetric principles of operation. Together with them, you can install ultrasonic and radio wave annunciators.
The entrance door is connected to the security system separately, because to prevent the alarm from triggering when the object is opened and closed, the response time is delayed. If arming or disarming is performed from the outside of the building with special keys (7), then the front door can be connected to the perimeter scheme of the protected object.
For the protection of a small object, the considered option is quite suitable. But for a separate house with a large number of windows and rooms, it is better to divide each security loop into several.
This is due to the simple search for damage and convenient localization of the penetration site.
Alarm equipment
Detectors.
Reception and control devices.
Power supplies.
Annunciators.
Announcement transmission system.
The alarm detectors are used to detect intrusion on the security object. This equipment has differences in the principle of operation, the ability to solve issues of monitoring the interior of the premises, purpose, etc.
An important component of the equipment is control devices that process the data received from the detectors. They control other alarm devices.
Power supplies have two main tasks:
In the absence of voltage, they are a backup power source.
Supply power to the system equipment from the 220 V network. They are light, acoustic and combined. Light blocks can immediately issue the status of many loops, sound blocks transmit complex voice messages, they are more suitable for fire systems.
Announcement transmission systems are used for security with a control panel. Autonomous systems do not require such SPIs. The type of equipment is determined by the security company. Notifications are transmitted wirelessly or by wire. GSM communication systems and radio channels are used more and more often.
Installation of equipment
The main regulatory document that determines the installation and installation of security alarms is the regulatory act RD 78. 145 – 93 for private security. If the alarm is not armed on the remote control, then this act can not be used. But this document defines the completeness and reliability of the protection of vulnerabilities, it will always be useful.
The security equipment data sheet should always include general installation and installation recommendations. As an auxiliary source of information, documents for a device or detector can be very useful. For the connection diagram, deviations from the connection option required by the manufacturer must not be allowed.
Security system alarm requirements
Reliability is the main requirement.
It is achieved by a set of technical measures:
The highest fault tolerance of the system.
Correct selection of technical equipment.
Complete identification of penetration vulnerabilities.
The fault tolerance of the alarm system determines the increased requirements for the period of time between failures of the system elements. The quality of the installation plays an important role. Contact connections are the weak points of circuits, they gradually degrade the quality of the contact. Therefore, high-quality maintenance is a prerequisite for the correct operation of the security system.
The right choice of equipment determines the choice of the most suitable devices that correspond in terms of parameters to the tasks that are solved by the security system. Most often, reliability is increased by the simultaneous use of detectors with different operating principles, as well as combined sensors.
Determination of penetration points should be decided at the design stage of the security system. An important role in this is played by the experience of designers and knowledge of regulations. Each separate object of protection has its own characteristics.

Sony WH-1000XM3 wireless Bluetooth headphones review
Since the Sony WH-1000XM4 was released, and more recently the Sony WH-1000XM5, bargain hunters will no doubt look into whether or not the WH-1000XM3 is a worthy alternative. Given that up until the release of the latest in Sony’s line of top-end active noise canceling (ANC) headsets, the WH-1000XM3 was the best noise canceling headphones, it’s definitely a worthy comparison to make.
Editor’s note: this post was updated on May 30, 2023, to update style, format, and timeliness of information in this article.
Casual listeners will love the Sony WH-1000XM3, as it offers a huge boost in sound quality over general consumer headphones when used with Bluetooth. Commuters will also appreciate the excellent noise cancellation offered by these headphones. Air travelers will find the Sony WH-1000XM3 in the Best Buy vending machines at many American terminals, and you know what? That’s the best piece of hardware in there.
Very rarely will I say that a set of headphones is for “everyone,” but active noise cancellers that are comfortable and sound as good as the Sony WH-1000XM3 falls into that category. This performs well on commutes, flights, and just out on the town. Generally, these are headphones for everywhere but the computer… and even then they’re not bad if you’re not deep into the lossless audio game.
What is the Sony WH-1000XM3 like to use?
There’s a handful of buttons on the Sony WH-1000XM3, but you’ll mostly be using the swipe controls — and that USB-C charge port.
If you’ve never used the Sony WH-1000XM2, noting that the WH-1000XM3 is virtually identical isn’t going to tell you what you need to know about these cans. For example, the WH-1000XM2 was our pick for best headphones for most people for a long time, and the WH-1000XM3 refresh took that crown (until the Sony WH-1000XM4 and XM5 came along). The WH-1000XM3 is extremely light, has great padding, and oh yeah: delivers on the promise of high-end active noise canceling headphones. Really, the biggest differences are the USB-C charging port, soft-touch material, and new buttons.
The chassis of the WH-1000XM3 is the same hard plastic as its predecessor, though there isn’t any fake plastic leather over-the-ear cups anymore. Instead, it’s now a soft-touch material that your fingers can easily glide over. At the top of each ear cup are two wide microphones that collect data for the noise canceling unit to destroy outside sound.
The Sony WH-1000XM3’s exterior boasts a soft-touch material.
It’s unclear if Sony addressed the reported cracking issues with the previous iterations of the WH-1000X, but I didn’t run into any breakage or damage in my time with them. And I suppose that’s to be expected — I’ve absolutely abused the Mark 2 over the past five years, and it still looks fairly new… minus somewhat flattened padding.
Despite being largely identical in many ways to the older Sony WH-1000XM2, a few upgrades have made the brand-new WH-1000XM3 a better buy for the long haul. For example, the ear pads are deeper, and the addition of USB-C charging means that you won’t have to scour and scrape for an obsolete cable to top off your cans.
The Sony WH-1000XM3 still stands as a great ANC headset that keeps up with the top competitors today.
While these are fairly minor upgrades, it does mean that you won’t have to worry about your headphones falling apart in a year or two. Instead, you’ll have your needs met by a modern design, with very few headaches. I’m not sure that these tweaks are completely worth upgrading for if you already own the previous model. In that case, you may want to spring for the newer WH-1000XM4 or Bose QuietComfort 45, but if you’re buying a new set of headphones: these go a long way to setting Sony’s offerings apart from Bose, Sennheiser, and AKG.
Many users report extreme cold affecting the touch controls of the Sony WH-1000XM3, so be wary if you’re in an environment that freezes over a lot. Neither Adam nor Chris had issues with the Sony WH-1000XM3 in the frozen northeast US or Canada, but it’s possible that it varies from model to model.
How do you use the Sony Headphones Connect app with the Sony WH-1000XM3?
With the NFC chip, you can tap your phone to pair your ‘phones.
Probably the best thing about the headphones is that you rarely ever need to use your phone to control your music. Once you download the Sony Headphones Connect app (iOS/Android), you can easily navigate playback with swipes of your finger (forward, backward swipes), adjust volume by swiping up or down, and activate your voice assistant with a long press.
All you have to do is update through the Sony Headphone Connect app on your smartphone and you can choose whichever virtual assistant you want — depending on what smart products you have in your house, or simply which one answers your questions better. (As of December 7, you can no longer use the Google Assistant app for iOS with the WH-1000XM3.)
If you run out of battery, just plug in the included 3.5mm cable.
Additionally, you can temporarily hear the world around you by cupping your hand over the right ear cup, which makes the headset use its external microphones to pass your surroundings onto your ears. This is great for when someone needs to tell you something, or for plane announcements.
What Bluetooth codecs does the Sony WH-1000XM3 support?
We tested LDAC with the WH-1000XM3, and we recommend using the 660kbps setting for best results.
The WH-1000XM3 isn’t for audiophiles looking for lossless listening, so I feel like I owe you an explanation. Sony’s headphones really are best in class here, but they’re not perfect. You do get a bevy of codecs to choose from (SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC) along with wired listening, but there’s more to it than that.
The LDAC codec is certainly impressive by many metrics, but only when you can get the 660 or 990kbps modes. Weirdly enough, the 330kbps default connection is worse than SBC in some ways, so you may find you should dive into the developer options in your phone to lock the WH-1000XM3 into 660kbps just to be sure you’re getting the best of what your headphones have to offer. The 990kbps mode may be tempting, but we find that 660 is a great middle-ground that still exceeds your hearing capabilities.
How long is the battery life on the Sony WH-1000XM3?
Battery life is great on the Sony WH-1000XM3, lasting 24 hours of constant music playback peaking at 75dB(SPL), with maximum ANC running. This is an absolutely stellar result and should keep you protected from the outside world for long trips.
How well does the Sony WH-1000XM3 cancel noise?
The WH-1000XM3 noise canceling renders low frequencies one-half to one-quarter their loudness.
When you’re buying active noise canceling headphones, the main reason you’re opening up your wallet is that they make the world melt away around you, right? Because of this, we test isolation and attenuation. And the WH-1000XM3 does a fantastic job of killing outside noise. It originally drubbed the Bose QuietComfort 35 II, but Bose has since updated its QC 35 II so the ANC is remains better than the WH-1000XM3. You can see our Bose QC 35 II vs Sony WH-1000XM3 article for more.
While you’ll still be able to hear sounds like your office mates speaking near you, droning sounds like an HVAC system, engine noise, and other persistent notes will be significantly quieted.
Essentially, many new ANC headsets require software updates for this, that, and the other. Because you have to connect to a set of headphones via Bluetooth — which has very little bandwidth — sometimes updates fail when they get marked as complete. Use the Sony app to see if there’s a mismatch in the version of software your headphones report, and what it actually has if you run into this problem. Nine times out of ten a re-install of the update will take care of it, and that’s true of Bose headphones, Sony headphones, any that require software updates over Bluetooth.
How does the Sony WH-1000XM3 sound?
The WH-1000XM3 (cyan) boosts bass a bit more than our house curve (pink) recommends, but otherwise, this is a good frequency response.
The Sony WH-1000XM3 sounds great when you listen wirelessly, and as a reminder, you have a host of Bluetooth codecs to choose from (SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC). The sound closely follows our target curve, which is what SoundGuys posits as best for most general listeners.
When you listen over Bluetooth with the default frequency response, you’ll hear that bass notes sound a bit louder than it does from other headsets (e.g., the Shure AONIC 40). Those who aren’t bass heads may not appreciate this, but you can easily adjust it through the mobile app’s EQ module. Midrange and treble notes sound great and require very little, if any, tinkering.
For the best sound, you’ll want to use the WH-1000XM3 in wired, active mode (yellow dash), which amplifies bass much more than the wired, passive mode (white dot), and has a slightly better treble response than the standard wireless mode (cyan).
You can see in the frequency response comparison chart above that the WH-1000XM3 sounds different depending on how you connect the headset. The wired active mode sounds best, with wireless listening taking a close second. You’ll notice a big difference in the bass response if you listen passively in wired mode, meaning the headset is off with no ANC enabled.
The Sony Headphones Connect app has a great equalization module that lets you customize the sound.
So what does all this mean for you? Well, I can show you!
Lows, mids, and highs
You may notice the bass boost in wired, active or wireless mode, which is fine for commuting but may be a bit much when you’re relaxing at home. You may find that engine noise masks a bit of the bassline and bongo thumps to the one and only recognized version of the song “September“. Mids take a bit of a backseat to the bass if you use the stock LDAC connection without swapping off to equalize your music. You may want to turn the bass down a bit if you’re jamming out to old Queen records.

Is the Sony WH-1000XM3 microphone any good?
Usually, microphones are pretty terrible on headphones, but the Sony WH-1000XM3 is the exception to the rule. While the nature of transmitting audio still means that quiet sounds might get amplified in order to mask shortcomings of the power situation, the actual technical capabilities of the microphone are quite… okay. However, it doesn’t combat the proximity effect very well, so your voice will sound bassier than it usually might.
Your voice will sound roughly exactly how it should on your recording, or on the other end of a call. Of course, different voice clients and recording programs handle recording bitrate and dynamic compression differently, so be sure to kick the tires on a few phone calls before your return window ends to see if you like how these headphones handle it.

Is the Sony WH-1000XM3 worth buying?
Yes, the WH-1000XM3 is probably worth buying even with the release of the WH-1000XM4. Active noise cancellers are the rare headphones that work well in just about any situation, and that’s why they’re so valuable. The Sony WH-1000XM3 is the perfect travel buddy with great battery life, solid sound, and a price point under its main competitors.
A gadget that costs $349 USD might sound like it’s too expensive, but it’s really not for all that it gives you in return. Plus, you can usually find this for around $250 USD or so, and a really good set of active noise canceling headphones is worth its weight in gold. If you want to save even more cash, consider buying the WH-1000XM3 through the Amazon Renewed program.

Should you upgrade to the Sony WH-1000XM4 or XM5?
The Sony WH-1000XM4 introduces artificial intelligence (AI) into the mix, and its used to improve noise canceling along with audio processing. The WH-1000XM4 features a new DSEE Extreme processor, which improves dynamic range when upsampling audio. Other features include improved fast charging: 10 minutes of charging via USB-C provides 5 hours of playtime.
Another new feature: speak-to-chat. This enables listeners to engage in conversation without having to interact with the headset at all. The five-microphone array in tandem with AI voice recognition software learns when you’re speaking and automatically decreases the volume as you and your conversation partner talk back and forth. Listeners still have the option to allow ambient noise in by placing their hands on either of the ear cups.
Bluetooth multipoint connectivity is finally supported, so you can now connect the Sony WH-1000XM4 to two sources at once. This is ideal for users who want to keep an ear on their smartphone notifications while streaming a movie on their laptops.
Build quality has also been tweaked, as Sony made the headset lighter by using a lightweight plastic. Comfort has improved too: pressure is more evenly distributed around the ears, and the stitched has receded further into the ear cup, so the seam no longer brushes against the head.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the most recent iteration of Sony’s flagship noise canceling headphones, and it has a lot of the great features of the XM4, but it has better sound quality and ANC, a new design, and better battery life. If you really want to treat yourself, the Sony WH-1000XM5 is one of the best noise canceling headsets you can buy, and $398 at Amazon.
An exceptional pair of noise canceling headphones.
High-quality Bluetooth codecs, great sound, improved noise-canceling, good battery life, and smart features like auto-pause and Bluetooth multipoint make the Sony WH-1000XM4 a great all-round pair of headphones.

What about the Bose Noise canceling Headphones 700?
Bose has long been the foil to Sony in the noise canceling headphones department, but Bose’s latest release is a bit of a departure from the norm. Boasting an enhanced microphone array and a higher price tag, the 700 series headphones from Bose are very compelling. However, the differences in performance and Bluetooth codec availability is a bit of a letdown in comparison to the Sony WH-1000XM3. That’s not to say that the issue is as clear-cut as that, but you may want to do a bit more research if you’re having trouble deciding between the two headphones.
Alternatively, you may want to slip into something a bit more comfortable like the Bose QuietComfort 45. This headset has grade-A active noise canceling that is hard to beat. It looks just like the QC 35 II but that’s fine because it’s about as comfortable as its predecessor too. We really like that you can make custom adjustments to the QC 45 frequency response from the Bose Music app (iOS/Android), but there is one drawback: you can’t fully disable ANC without automatically enabling transparency mode.
If you want some of the best ANC you can get, Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 have you covered.

What about the Apple AirPods Max?
The headphones come with its smart case and a charging cable, and nothing else.
The AirPods Max competes against products like the Sony WH-1000XM3, Bose Noise canceling Headphones 700, and even the Shure AONIC 50. The headphones sport a rather unconventional design, featuring a knit mesh canopy headband and large, smooth ear cups that are reminiscent of an oversized Apple Watch — which makes sense since the left ear cup actually uses a digital crown for volume control.
The AirPods Max offers virtually the same features found on the Apple AirPods Pro, including active noise cancellation, Transparency Mode, Adaptive EQ, and Spatial Audio. As with all of Apple’s audio products, the AirPods Max comes with the company’s proprietary h2 chip for seamless pairing and reliable connectivity. These headphones also boast a 20-hour battery life, in addition to fast charging, providing you with 90 minutes of listening after a five-minute charge.

What should you get instead of the Sony WH-1000XM3?
In order to adjust noise canceling and ambient mode intensity, a user must download the ShurePLUS Play app.
Newer headphones offer some interesting ANC features like the Jabra Elite 85h, but only the Shure AONIC 50 goes toe-to-toe with the raw ANC power of the WH-1000XM3. Even if it’s not technically very different than its predecessor, that’s okay: all the WH-1000XM2 needed to be truly great headphones were a USB-C charging port, and deeper ear pads… which the WH-1000XM3 provide.
While the Sony WH-1000XM3 is easily one of the best headsets out there, its little brother the Sony WH-XB900N is a credible budget pick, and gets you about 70% of the performance of these headphones for quite a bit less. That’s not a bad trade at all. If you’re on a budget, get the WH-XB900N and don’t look back.
Frequently asked questions about the Sony WH-1000XM3
The Sony WH-1000XM3 has active noise canceling, which the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT does not have. Additionally, the WH-1000XM3 has an accompanying app with EQ options, and the ATH-M50xBT has just the one frequency response. The flipside is that the ATH-M50xBT is quite a bit cheaper. Both have a plethora of codecs on hand and optional wired listening.
So, do you want noise canceling and optional EQ? Get the Sony. If you don’t care about noise canceling and are happy with one consumer friendly frequency response, save some money and get the Audio-Technica.
You might be able to get a better price on the WH-1000XM3 now that the WH-1000XM4 has been released, but if you want even better ANC and Bluetooth multipoint, go with the XM4.
Yes, absolutely! Aside from the Shure Aonic 50, the Sony WH-1000XM4 is your best bet when it comes to blocking out external noise when working from home, but if you want to save some cash and don’t need features like Bluetooth multipoint and speak to chat, the Sony WH-1000XM3 are a great choice.
By using the Sony Headphones app, you can use the manufacturer software to tone down the bass a bit (Chris uses “clear bass” -1). Alternatively, you could use an app like SoundID or Wavelet, which will correct your headphones to the Harman target first, and let you tweak it afterward.
They probably could, but I wouldn’t. The microphone is less robust than a dedicated headset’s, and will pick up a lot of background noise.
Not unless you have an adapter, no. Consoles typically are tougher to connect wireless headphones to. The only other way you can get the Sony WH-1000XM3 connected to the PS4 is through its 3.5mm cable.
Yes. Included in the packaging is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm male-t0-male cable that you can use to listen to wired sources. Each end has a TRRRS end, allowing for two channels, and a microphone.
In theory, you just need to be able to connect your source (in this case, your TV) with something over Bluetooth. If your TV supports Bluetooth, it should be able to connect to your headphones. If it can’t, you may want to look into finding an emitter that can connect to your TV. That way, you can solve the issue with a cheap workaround instead of buying a new TV — or headphones.
Yes, the Sony WH-1000XM3 wireless noise canceling headphones are compatible with video chat apps like Zoom, Skype, Facebook Messenger, and more. The headset must be paired with the source device being used with the video conferencing app. Depending on what app is being used, a pop-up may appear requesting permission to use the headset microphone before continuing into the chat. If you want more information, we have an entire list of the best headphones for conference calls!
You can certainly receive audio from your PC to the Sony WH-1000XM3 wireless headphones via Bluetooth or by wire, since the headphones retain the 3.5mm input. As far as sending audio to your PC is concerned, you may use the Sony microphone system to record audio into a digital audio interface such as Audacity or Adobe Audition.
No, the Sony WH-1000XM3 uses Bluetooth 4.2.
Superlux HD381F – the best budget headphones
Hello dear users. Today I want to tell you my opinion about Superlux HD 381F headphones. Who are interested in the details, please under cat.
Shipping
I ordered paid delivery with a track number, the parcel arrived in 2 weeks. Processed the order the next day after payment.
Packaging
The packaging is made in the form of a white blister, on the front of which there is a transparent window and various inscriptions. On the back of the blister are brief technical specifications. In addition to the headphones, the kit includes an extension cord, 3 pairs of nozzles and a clip.
Headphone specifications
– Wire length: 60 cm + 60 cm extension – 3.5 m connector – Sensitivity 100 dB – Resistance 1 6 ohm — Dynamic driver — Straight headphone plug, extension cable L-shaped
Appearance and materials of manufacture
The appearance of the headphones is ordinary, made of cheap plastic, the wire looks very flimsy and does not inspire confidence, but I actively use the headphones for about 4 months and there were no problems. The right earpiece is marked with red paint, the left black. The headphones sit well in the ear, there is no discomfort during prolonged use. Most of all, I was surprised by the decision to make a short wire with an extension cord, as for me it would be better if the wire was just 1.2 meters. The extension cord has an L-shaped plug, while the headphone has a flimsy straight one.

Music used for test:

The sound in the headphones is simply gorgeous, I did not expect such sound quality for such a price. The detail is gorgeous, the imaginary stage is very wide for such a form factor of headphones.
Bass
Very pleasant, not boomy, does not interfere with neighboring frequencies, is at an ideal level for me, but it will obviously not be enough for bassheads.
Mids
The mids are also great for the price, but blend in a bit with the uppers.
Top
The top is also gorgeous, not too much and not too little, listening to music is a pleasure.
Frequency response (taken from Google):
Conclusions
The headphones made an excellent impression in terms of sound and disappointed in terms of the quality of materials. In terms of sound, Xiaomi Hybrid, Xiaomi piston, KS ZS2 and other headphones up to $ 20 definitely win. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants headphones with great sound at a very low price.
Pros :
— Price — SOUND! SOUND! And once again SOUND!
Cons:
— Materials — Short wire with extension

P. S. if I missed something or made a mistake, correct me, if the review was useful to you, put a plus. Thank you.
P.P.S. Apparently, the Superlux HD386 headphones are a complete analog of the HD381F, only with a solid wire and a variety of colors. However, this is just my guess.
Thank you all for your attention. See you again.
Meizu MX3 review. Balanced smartphone Meizu MX-3 on China Review
The main element of the attractiveness of Chinese smartphones is low cost. It justifies borrowed or missing design, hardware compromises, sometimes average quality. This is the case with the market as a whole, but there are exceptions. Meizu MX3 does not require concessions from the user – the device is original, has excellent filling and is endowed with unique features. Flagship without reservations with an adequate price tag.

Packaging, kit
A neat white box with a minimum marking allowed has already become a classic for Meizu. On the top of the lid we see the name of the model, on the edge there is a logo, on the bottom there are two service stickers. The packaging hints at how much the manufacturer values simplicity.
A booklet, a pick for removing the lid and a mains charger are carefully stowed inside the box. Meizu MX3 certified for our market receive an adapter with a European plug. Also, the devices are supplied with a brochure-guide with the most important information in Russian.
An extremely ascetic set of phone, Micro-USB cable and documentation is hidden in a booklet. The first few pages talk about the key advantages of the device, then the phone itself opens up to our eyes. The solution is interesting, the wow-effect is certainly present in the unpacking process.
Design, case
Meizu MX3 can’t be accused of facelessness – the device has received a memorable appearance. And although some of the features are very reminiscent of Apple products, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 4G, yet the Chinese designers managed to create a complete, complete device. An important feature of the Meizu image is the front panel of smartphones with an LED inscribed in the touch button, here it is complemented by a huge 5.1-inch screen, which occupies virtually the entire usable area.
Meizu MX3, with all the successful tricks of the creators, is still big. For clarity, I compared it with the iPhone 5, the difference in size is noticeable.
The phone is very thin, only 9.1 mm, the effect is further enhanced by reducing the thickness of the back towards the edges. The smooth gloss of the lid inevitably scratches, but thanks to the white color, scratches are not very noticeable. A metal edging runs along the edges; it combines aesthetic and functional purposes. Unlike the previous model, metal heating in high load modes does not cause discomfort. The last element of the faces is a thin plastic frame, which also frames the glass of the front panel.
The back panel of Meizu MX3 is removable, but the battery is not. It is not clear why this is necessary, especially since the manufacturer does not offer replacement caps.
The system of fastening the back is peculiar, the creators of the device obviously did not take into account the possibility of frequent replacement of the card (or cover). It is assumed that for dismantling it is enough to press the metal clip with a mediator, lift the cover with it, and then snap off the hooks by passing a thin plate along the edge. In fact, it is much easier to use a knife blade. There is no need to talk about the ability to change the operator card in the Meizu MX3 “on the go”.
Controls, connectors
We actually have a classic set of controls, but with one caveat – the only touch button under the screen performs several functions at once. A normal press returns you to the home screen, a swipe from the button to the screen unlocks the device, and in the shell it corresponds to the “back” command. Moreover, holding your finger on the button for a few seconds will lock the screen.
The power button is placed on the top end. It is made of transparent plastic (with a white backing), protrudes reasonably above the plane of the body and has a good move. It’s just that it’s very difficult to reach it with your finger with a typical phone grip. Well, at least in most cases, a smart round sensor helps out.
Volume rocker, also made of transparent plastic, is located on the left side. For a right-hander, this is a little less convenient than on the right, but to a greater extent this is a matter of habit. The finger easily finds the button blindly.
Meizu MX-3 connectors are located on the ends. Above is a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, below is Micro-USB with support for image output via MHL. There is also a microphone hole.
Rear panel accommodates camera unit with flash and second microphone, Meizu MX logo, and external speaker slot.
Screen
The screen is excellent without any reservations. The 5.1″ IPS Sharp New Mode 2 matrix has a resolution of 1800×1080 pixels (415 ppi) and displays 16 million colors. viewing angles, and a maximum brightness of 450 cd / m. It is also worth noting that the minimum brightness is very good for reading in the dark.Tempered glass protects the screen and at the same time the front panel Gorilla Glass 2.
The only thing that can confuse is the atypical resolution. Vertically, the screen lacks 100 pixels to Full HD – 1920×1080. In practice, there are no difficulties with the screen. All software is wonderfully scaled to the resolution, most films somehow sin with black bars. But, while maintaining an acceptable pixel aspect ratio, the Meizu MX3 display is slightly wider than classmates. Believe me, this is a very useful bonus.
Iron
Meizu MX3 is made on a very powerful hardware platform, being among the most productive smartphones in 2013. The heart of the device was the 8-core Samsung Exynos 5410 (4 cores 1. 6 GHz Cortex-A15 and 4 cores 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7), made using a 24-nm process technology. The same processor is installed in the Samsung Galaxy S4. The PowerVR SGX 544MP3 chip (533MHz, 3 cores) is responsible for graphics processing.
2 GB of RAM, of which, after turning on the device, about a gigabyte is free. According to this parameter, the flagship Xiaomi Mi3 with 1.5 GB of available RAM is unrivaled. Memory for data storage is not expandable with cards, so you will have to be content with 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB or even 128 GB built-in (depending on the chosen model). By the way, there is no NFC module in the 16 GB version.
In the AnTuTu test, the device scores 24086 points, somewhere ahead, and somewhere losing to the iron donor Galaxy S4. But tests are tests, and in real performance scenarios, the Meizu MX3 is always enough. The interface is very smooth, even swift, the most demanding games fly, the camera shoots very quickly. There are no hints of optimization problems. The expected heating is present, but I cannot call it a critical drawback. During the week of use, the smartphone became hot only twice, but not so much as to cause real discomfort.
It should be mentioned that Meizu smartphones have a “Power Saving Mode”. It limits the maximum frequency of the processor and slightly extends the battery life of the smartphone. Most of the time I had it turned on, it does not affect most tasks (but in the benchmark the result drops to 14237 points).
Camera
Meizu MX3 uses an 8-megapixel Sony Exmor module with F2.0 aperture as the main camera. Since Meizu has its own image processing algorithms, it is impossible to talk about the identity of the quality of photos with the photo flagships of the Japanese company, but still the camera of the smartphone is very decent. In good lighting conditions, the pictures are realistic and detailed. You can also shoot in the evening and even in the dark, even if the photos will sin with noise. Automation does a good job of evaluating the scene, focusing is fast, but not always accurate (in such situations, touch focus helps out). Removes the device quickly, supports simultaneous video recording and photography.
The front camera is also from Sony, the module has a 2 MP matrix. With it, no surprises – it will fit perfectly for video telephony and bows of your loved one.
The camera shell is extremely simple. The service panel includes buttons for turning on the flash, changing the camera (front or rear), selecting the shooting mode (auto, panorama, macro, text, portrait) and the settings menu.
You can manually set the IOS level (50-800), white balance (fluorescent, outdoor, incandescent), photo and video settings. The menu is worth a look at least to enable color filters, they correct the image in real time and are quite high quality. The filter panel can be quickly hidden if not needed.
Video recording pleased with the possibility of a pause, but disappointed with the lack of zoom. Meizu MX3 records video in 1080p / 30fps, the quality is on the level.

Sample shots in original size
Autonomy
The device is powered by a 2400 mAh non-removable battery. By today’s standards, this is not a record, but even taking into account the voracious iron, it’s quite good. The manufacturer gives the following indicative figures:
Talk time (auto switching between 2G/3G) – 14 hours
In Wi-Fi surfing mode – 10 hours
3G surfing – 7 hours
In video playback mode (720p, maximum brightness of the screen backlight) – 7 hours
Music playback – 40 hours
Standby t – 429 hours
In fact, the phone lives a full day in the active mode of use and about two in a more gentle mode. In my scenario, which included about an hour of calls, an hour and a half of web surfing, reading books and Pocket, regular monitoring of Twitter and RSS, chatting on Viber and Skype, some music, cameras and games, Meizu MX3 confidently survived until the evening. In the case of activation of the power saving mode in the settings, autonomy increased by 10-15 percent. Charging from the network lasts a little less than an hour and a half.
Sound
One of the selling chips of the MX3 was the Wolfson WM5102 sound chip. Marketing is great, but there is a difference in sound compared to top-tier competitors, and tangible. The smartphone, of course, is not ready to compete on equal terms with audiophile equipment, but even a sophisticated user will be more than satisfied. Especially if you use good headphones. I tested the device with Marshall Major, they played well.
The software component is represented by Dirac HD technology, the sound enhancement function can be activated in the settings of the preset player. Three profiles are available (for some recommended headset models), each coloring the audio path in its own way. More fine-tuning of the sound is possible with a 5-band equalizer, there are 4 typical presets.
Communication
Cellular module works with one card and supports 2G (850/900/1800 MHz) and 3G (850/2100 MHz) networks. There are no complaints about the quality of signal reception, as well as typical telephone capabilities. The interlocutor hears you well, the conversational speaker also provides a reliable sound. One has only to pay attention that the maximum volume level of the speaker will be sufficient for a noisy environment, but there is no reserve.
Dual-band Wi-Fi module complies with 802.11 a/b/g/n standard, has hotspot mode. The antenna keeps a good connection.
A-GPS/GLONASS works at the level of other top Android smartphones, except that it is desirable to carry out its preliminary Europeanization (calibration) with Wi-Fi disabled. After the satellites are detected very quickly.
Android and Flyme 3
The Meizu MX3 does not have the latest Android 4.2.1, but with its own add-on from Meizu – Flyme 3. Of course, this is a subjective matter, but for me the system has become a real discovery. Pure Android has its charms, MIUI strikes with thoughtfulness and functionality, and Flyme is all about beautiful aesthetics and iconic minimalism. And even though the system lacks something, you forgive everything for its charm.
The lock screen is not very informative. It shows a clock, control buttons and a notification bar with a minimum of icons. There is no quick launch of applications, it is similar with weather information.
Desktops are combined with the application menu, it is proposed to use folders a la iOS to organize programs. One of the tables is marked as home, the rest are marked in Latin A, B, C and further alphabetically. Vertical scrolling of spaces is possible. Applications are placed in 5×4 tiles, the lower fixed panel holds up to 5 icons.
Notification panel includes five settings toggles (long press does not open system settings), Wi-Fi networks and cellular mode drop-down menus, and a list of system and program notifications. You can clear it with one touch. Like many other components of Flyme, the panel is actually devoid of settings, the list of toggles cannot be changed.
The multitasking bar is swiped up from the bottom of the screen. Similar to the implementation in MIUI, labels and signatures are used instead of program preview slides. Having shifted the application up, we close it, a similar gesture down closes all programs, clearing the RAM. On the zero screen of the multitasking panel, you can place frequently used programs, here you can adjust the backlight brightness level and turn on auto-adjustment.
Initially, the menus for battery and RAM consumption by applications are hidden in the settings. To display them, you need to enter the code * # * # 6961 # * # *
in the dialer. As a useful addition to the device, the Meizu cloud services package is invited. To activate them, just create an account (just a few steps). Using the Flyme web tool (in Chinese), you can locate your phone, turn on search mode remotely, or wipe data. Very unusual, but a Flyme account is also required to get root rights. To do this, you need to look into the Flyme synchronization settings and “Share the system”.
Traditionally for Chinese shells, the design of Flyme can be significantly changed by the theme. There are a lot of them in the built-in store. A couple of examples:
The most basic set of software is preinstalled in the smartphone out of the box. For the most part, it is very simple, but has a nice interface and does its job perfectly. Impressions
Meizu MX3 turned out to be a very charismatic device. He personally bribed me with a body that evokes nostalgia for the iPhone 3GS, a chic display, the Flyme system and a provocative control implementation.
Although it may seem that various swipes, long taps and other tricks with a single touch button are unnecessary, you get used to the control scheme quickly. The only thing that bothered me every now and then was the unlocking system with a swipe from the button up the screen. This gesture displays the home screen bypassing the lock screen, and as a design is very good, but it did not always work for me. Perhaps it was the film (which was very asked not to be removed), but even infrequent failures reduced all the charm of the unlocking system to nothing.
Ergonomics of the device is subjective. In my rather big hands, he lay like a glove, allowing you to use it with one hand without discomfort and risk of dropping the device. Given the diagonal of 5.1 inches, this is a very important point. The volume button is out of place (on the left side, not on the right), but it’s not difficult to get used to. Power from above is actually out of reach – the developers are clearly pushing the user to use the multi-function button below the screen.
I liked the combination of white back and black front panel. Smooth plastic has good “tenacity”, which reduces the risk of dropping the device, scratches and handprints are not very visible on it. The premium appearance is lacking, but it is tolerable. The theoretical possibility of replacing the lid is a definite plus, but the opening system is too complicated – a minus. For the life of me, I don’t know why it’s so complicated.
I never counted “parrots”, realizing that happiness is not in them, but I judged smartphones by their real speed. So, Meizu MX3 is very fast. The combination of powerful hardware and optimized software allows you to easily perform tasks without worrying about jerks, crashes, long application opening. Flyme, despite its austerity (I, as the owner of the iPhone 5, you can’t get through like that), fell in love with me – as for me, this is one of the most beautiful and comfortable shells for Android.
Conclusion
Meizu MX3 is a balanced flagship. Hardware at the level of the best smartphones of 2013, a decent camera, great sound, a huge display. It has many pronounced advantages and almost no disadvantages. An excellent solution for both the technology geek and the average user. I can recommend to buy.
The Conair Infiniti Pro curling iron is affordable and easy to use
Beauty
It works wonders and it’s surprisingly affordable.

By Randee Dawn
There are tons of curling irons on the market, but if you’ve experienced my type of luck, finding a good one is difficult.
Aside from the inevitable burn of a finger, many curlers leave hair looking blocky and square rather than smooth and flowy — not to mention, they take ages to heat up. And don’t get me started on the amount of unnecessary accessories that come with the actual product.
Point is, each hair tool comes with lots of issues that are hard to avoid. Thankfully, I found a solution that has become one of my favorite all-time purchases: the Infiniti Pro by Conair.
Infiniti Pro Curl Secret by Conair
Slide 1 of 4
This curling tool looks a little different from the rest and comes with a mild learning curve, but after some trial and error it’s pretty simple.
You take a section of hair, fit it in the “jaw” area and close down. The Infiniti ceramic barrel automatically curls the hair around an internal heating element and in a matter of seconds, you’ll hear three beeps signaling you to release your grip.
It only takes a few moments to create beautiful, perfect ringlets! I have medium-length hair, and can do my whole head in less than 10 minutes total (a huge time saver).
It’s also foolproof, more or less: If you try to feed in too much hair, it will beep and stop curling. If you release your grip, the curl will unfurl regardless of whether it’s beeped or not. And you’ll only burn yourself if you bring the heating element directly up to your head but I haven’t had any issue with this so far.
“The big reason I love using this machine is the curls last for days.”Amazon
The curls look lovely if you leave them be after curling, but they also withstand a light combing that results in looser curls or waves. I find that mine continue to last overnight (although this will likely depend on hair type).
Those with dry locks may want to spritz on a little argan oil to protect hair, but I’ve never used a separate product beforehand and I haven’t found any damage to my hair even with semi-frequent use (say, three to four times a week over three years).
I use the iron pretty much anytime I go out and I always look like I just stepped out of a salon. Well, close enough.
See below for a few more curling irons you may want to try!
Harry Josh 2-in-1 Ceramic Curling Iron
This curling iron is the top seller at Dermstore and has a cult following across the internet. It may be on the higher price end, but it will last you forever.
The Beachwaver Pro Curling Iron
This curling iron was the go-to tool for last year’s Victoria Secret fashion show.
Don’t fret if typical curling irons and wands seem intimidating; the Beachwaver curls the hair automatically, making it “the easiest tool in the world,” according to Michael Angelo of New York City’s Wonderland Beauty Parlor.
Conair Double Ceramic Curling Iron
If you are looking for something a little more affordable, this curling iron from Conair has a 3/4-inch barrel and a 4-star rating on Amazon. It’s also the retailer’s top-selling curling iron.

Review, Before/After Photos Tutorial Conair Curl Secret Infiniti Pro: Hair Styling Tool With Ceramic Curl Chamber: How To Get Beachy Waves
03 Jul Review, Before/After Photos, Video Tutorial: Infiniti Pro By Conair Curl Secret: Hair Styling Tool With Ceramic Curl Chamber: How To Get Beautiful Curls
The secret is out! After extensive research and development, Conair reveals the secret to the perfect curl – Infiniti Pro by Conair Curl Secret ($150.00).
It’s a revolutionary new way to instantly create beautiful curls. This one-of-a-kind styling tool gently draws hair into its exclusive tourmaline ceramic curl chamber without putting too much tension on hair – this protects hair’s elasticity.

I went to the launch of the Infiniti Pro by Conair Curl Secret the other day. I had seen some press on this product recently, but really did not give it a second thought. As a hair editor for BeautyStat.com, I have seen a lot of different hair products, and although a lot of them are great, they usually lack that WOW factor.
Conair’s Curl Secret definitely has it! I was truly amazed at how my hair was transformed! I even used it myself and was surprised at how easy it was to use.
See the Infiniti Pro by Conair Curl Secret in action! See how it works on Deanna’s hair HERE:
The journey to a beautiful head of gorgeous, shiny curls can be accomplished in 4 Easy Steps:
Step 1: Turn the Infiniti Pro by Conair Curl Secret on and make sure the light is solid red, and make sure you have picked the desired curl setting (there are 2 heat settings and 3 timer settings to create loose, medium or tight curls).
Step 2: Place a 1/2-inch-1-inch of your hair in the unit, making sure the opening of the curl chamber is towards your head.
Step 3: Close handles and don’t be shocked when your hair is automatically drawn into the chamber!
Step 4: Wait until you hear the beep and open to release your curls!
Before
I think my Before and After pictures speak for themselves, showing just how effectively this product works at instantly creating luscious curls. I went in the Curl Secret Salon a Plain Jane and left with a beautiful mane of curls that made me feel spectacular.
Deanna can’t believe the results!
Besides the device making my hair look fantastic, there were a few things about the curler that made it even more appealing: Conair installed an anti-tangle feature, making the product safe even if you happen to use it improperly — it immediately stops drawing the hair in and releases it untangled.
After
Conair also took into account energy saving functions by building in a sleep mode function and an automatic shutoff feature. Do you know how many times I have had to go back into the house because I thought I left the curler/flatiron on?

5 Best Wii to HDMI Converters (Adapters) [2023 Updated]
Remember the good old days when the Nintendo Wii was at its peak? At the time it was a completely revolutionary piece of technology that allowed us to play games in ways we never had before. The movement controls were awesome and the games available were fantastic (who can forget Wii Sports?).
However, it was replaced with newer technology as time went on. If you’re anything like us, you probably still have your Wii in storage somewhere, but don’t have a good way to play it. The problem with playing old consoles nowadays is the video output compatibility.
When it comes to the Wii, Nintendo used custom plugins with RCA inputs for the TV. Those haven’t been standard for a while, with the current method being HDMI ports.
Basically, if you want to plug your Wii directly into your TV, it’s more than likely not going to be possible. So how do we work around this? Well, luckily there are a ton of different options on the market for Wii to HDMI Converter Adapters.
Best Overall: PORTHOLIC Wii to HDMI Converter
Key Features:
Two color choices
Compact device
Full HD 1080P support
The PORTHOLIC Wii to HDMI Converter is one of the compact versions included on this list. It’s only 1.06 ounces and 2.99 x 1.38 x .59 inches. This allows it to easily be stored behind the Wii no matter where you have to have it set up. You’ll barely notice it’s there, but if looks are important you have some options. This adapter is available in both black and white, so you can choose the one that best fits your home’s aesthetic.
This adapter works by plugging directly into the back of the Wii. The other end of it has an HDMI port to plug a cord into. There’s no included HDMI so you’ll have to make sure you have one to use this device. Additionally, there’s a 3.5mm audio port that allows you to plug in your favorite headphones or external speakers.
The video quality supported covers anything the Wii throws at it. All display modes are compatible such as 480i, 480p, PAL 576i. The video quality is supported all the way to HD 1080P without any issues.
Pros:
Easy to hide from sight
Plug and play
Cons:
No included HDMI cord
Best Alternative: Tgwbawm Wii to HDMI Adapter
Key Features:
Two cords with converter box
No additional cords needed
Supports extra audio output
The Tgwbawm Wii to HDMI Adapter is the largest option on our list. This device has the option to have as much length as is needed to reach your display device and your Wii at the same time. There’s a converter box with a Wii output cord attached. Additionally, there’s an HDMI output slot for you to plug an HDMI cord into. The converter box adds to the bulk of the device, but shouldn’t make it an eyesore. The only available color option for it is black.
This device works similarly to the Wiistar (listed below). The Wii plug-in is attached to the converter box and simply plugs into the video output on your console. The HDMI is not directly attached, as there is an HDMI port on the other end of the box. This allows you to use either the included HDMI cord or any other length of cord you choose to use. There’s also an included 3.5mm audio port for speakers or headphones like the PORTHOLIC has.
As for video support, the Tgwbawm can output 480P, 576i, 720P, and 1080P. This puts it on par with other options on the list and will give you a great gaming experience.
Pros:
Included HDMI cord
18-month warranty
Cons:
Bulkiest option on our list
Best Out of the Box: Wiistar Wii to HDMI Converter
Key Features:
Direct cable design
Power source needed
Male-to-male cable
The Wiistar Wii to HDMI Converter is a completely different design than the PORTHOLIC, but some users may prefer it. Rather than being a small device that plugs into the Wii, this is a single cord that connects your Wii to your display. The cord is 3.2 feet long, giving you a good amount of length to move your console around with. It’s only available in a black colorway.
Since the Wiistar is its own entire video output/input system, you won’t need any additional HDMI cords to make it function. Simply plug one end into your Wii output slot, and the other end into an open HDMI input on your display. Additionally, you’ll need to supply additional power to this cord. This is done using a USB-A to Micro USB cord that can plug directly into an available slot on your display device.
The supported display modes are NTSC 480i and PAL 576i from the Wii. The display resolution can be either 1080P or 720P, which can easily be changed using a switch on the HDMI plugin. You’ll also want to be aware that the Wiistar doesn’t support 480P.
Pros:
No additional cords are needed for video
3. 2-foot long cord
Cons:
Additional power needed
Best Budget Option: CHS Wii HDMI Converter Adapter
Key Features:
Plug and play ready
Audio video synchronization
No extra power needed
The CHS Wii HDMI Converter Adapter is very similar to the PORTHOLIC. It shares a compact design to keep it out of the way of everything. It’s only .986 ounces heavy and 4.69 x 2.32 x .075 inches. If you want color options, you can choose between black and white. Both options have blue or white text on the device as well.
Functionally, this is identical to the PORTHOLIC. Just plug the Wii end into your console and connect an HDMI cord to the other end and your display device. There are no additional drivers needed and no extra power requirements to make it work. You can also plug in external audio devices using the 3.5mm sound port.
Anything else: As for video quality, it can display up to 1080P. It does this by converting various Wii outputs such as 480i, 480p, or PAL 576i. There shouldn’t be any video or audio issues while using the CHS, providing you with a great viewing experience.
Pros:
Lowest price on the list
Multiple color options
Compact design
Cons:
No included HDMI cord
Best Compact Option: MAYFLASH Wii to HDMI Converter
Key Features:
Ultra-compact design
One color option
Additional audio port
The MAYFLASH Wii to HDMI Converter looks and acts very similarly to the CHS and the PORTHOLIC devices. It’s smaller than any other option on this list, coming in at 1.4 x 1.3 x .5 inches and .63 ounces. There is a Wii video port plug-in on one end and an HDMI input on the other. As for available colors, the only option is white.
This is a plug-and-play device, so you won’t need additional drivers. The setup is the same as the other compact options. Plug it into your console and then attach an HDMI cable to it and your display. External speakers or headphones can also be used using the 3.5mm port.
The MAYFLASH can convert native Wii outputs such as 480i and 480p. It then takes that video and turns it into either 720p or 1080p output. This is all accomplished without having to supply it with additional power.
Pros:
Extremely small device
Plug and play easily
Cons:
Most expensive option on the list
Wii to HDMI Converter FAQ’s
What is a Wii to HDMI Converter Adapter?
These adapters come in a few different varieties. The basic concept is that there is one end that plugs into the Wii console for video output, and another end that is HDMI compatible. This allows you to use the standard HDMI ports on the backs of modern televisions and monitors to display the video output from the Wii.
What if I don’t have a spare HDMI cord available?
Some adapters are built with an HDMI cord already attached. For these models, simply plug one end into the Wii and the other end into the HDMI slot of your display device. If you don’t want to go that route, then you’ll have to purchase another HDMI cord separately to work with the other models.
I want to use external speakers, can I do that with any adapters?
Sure thing! If you prefer to have your audio go through a separate audio system rather than your TV, some adapters actually allow for that. This is typically accomplished by using a 3.5mm auxiliary headphone port that’s built into the adapter.
Are these adapters complicated to use?
Not at all. All you have to do is plug them in and attach the correct cords for video display. While some electronic devices require you to install complicated drivers, you won’t have that extra step with these. The options on this list are all plug-and-play ready.
Are they going to take up a lot of space?
Nope! All options on this list are compact by design. They won’t take a ton of additional room and also don’t require their own bulky power source in order to work (some do require a power source in the form of USB-A to Micro USB that can plug directly into your TV).
Do I still need my old video cables to use these adapters?
No, you don’t. These are all designed to entirely replace the old style of cords. Some devices on the market take the RCA cables and convert them to an HDMI output. All of the adapters on this list take that step out and plug directly into the Wii. Then there’s an easy way to get HDMI from the Wii to your display device.
Will I see any drops in the quality of my video by using one of these adapters?
You shouldn’t! They are all created with current technology to give you the best picture quality available with a Wii. The actual quality output supported is typically up to HD 1080P.
Final Thoughts
Overall, you can’t go wrong with any of the adapters on the list. They all do a great job of converting the video output from your Wii to something your display can show. Some are ultra-compact, while some have a more traditional look display cords. All that’s left now is to pick which one suits your needs the best, and start playing some nostalgic games on your Wii! Let us know if you have any questions or need any specific help by dropping a comment below.
How To Connect a Nintendo Wii To Any TV
We untangle all the different cables
The Wii was one of the most popular home consoles of all time. It came out in 2008, and has AV connections available to connect the Wii console to a TV. However, newer TVs with many different connection types may cause you a lot of confusion if you want to play your Wii on it.
Despite what type of TV you’re using, there is most likely a way to hook the Wii up to it. You may just need to find different types of cables than you already have.
Table of Contents
In the sections below, you’ll find directions for connecting the Wii using different types of cables, and any extra steps you may need to take depending on the cables involved.
Connecting a Wii To a TV With AV Cables
Here is how to connect the Wii to a TV using AV cables, which are what the system originally comes with.
Find a set of 3 inputs on your TV which should be yellow, white and red. They may also be labeled as Video and Audio. These are your AV inputs.
Insert the AV plugs according to color, so they match to the input’s color on your TV. Yellow = Video, White = Audio Left or Mono, Red = Audio Right
On the back of the Wii is a connector for the AV Out plug on the opposite end of the AV cable, which you will plug it in to.
Turn on your TV and find your input selection, either on your remote or TV. This may be seen as Input Select, Input, or TV/Video. Then select AV to view your Wii. Depending on your TV, these may be labeled slightly differently, such as AUX or EXT. It may also be on channel 00 or 99.
Connecting a Wii To a TV With Component Cables
With component cables, the steps for setting them up with the Wii are basically the same as with AV cables.
There should be a set of 5 ports on your TV if it has the ability to connect to component cables. These ports should be two ports for audio colored red (right, or R) and white (left, or L), and three for video, colored red (Pr/Cr), blue (Pb/Cb), and green (Y).
Connect the component cables into the corresponding colors.
Connect the cable to the back of the Wii on the AV Out port.
Progressive Scan will then need to be enabled if your TV has it.
Power on the Wii and find the input selection for your TV and switch it to view the AV input.
Connecting a Wii To a TV With HDMI
The original Nintendo Wii, unfortunately, does not have an HDMI port. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t play it on a TV with exclusively HDMI inputs, though.
There are many adapters that allow you to connect your Wii to an HDMI port, by plugging directly into the console. This makes adapters like the Portholic Wii to HDMI Converter easy to use.
Connect the HDMI adapter into the back of your Wii. Then insert your HDMI cable into the adapter.
Locate the HDMI port on your TV, usually on the back or sides. Plug the other end of the HDMI in.
Turn on your Wii and find the input selection on your TV. Select the HDMI input you connected the cable to.
Connecting a Wii To a TV With a SCART Connector
On the other hand, if you have a much older TV with SCART connections you’d like to connect your Wii to, this can be done as well. SCART connectors also plug into some splitters, which give you the ability to use more ports if needed.
As TVs supporting SCART connection have become increasingly obsolete, these connectors and adapters are few and far between. However, you can still buy a SCART adapter that will hook up to your Wii, such as this one.
Here’s how to use the adapter to connect your Wii to your TV:
Plug your Wii’s RCA cables (the AV cables) into the end of the SCART adapter with the yellow, red, and white inputs with the same color plugs.
Plug the SCART into your TV or splitter. Then change the TV input to view from this connection.
Connecting a Wii To Any TV
With all of these different connections available, you should be able to connect your Wii to any TV out there. The final things you’ll want to keep in mind is that the Wii only outputs a max resolution of 480p, so don’t expect to get anything more out of it on a newer television.
You may also need to change the settings on your Wii so that it fits the screen of the TV you have it connected to. In the Wii, you can go to Settings > Wii Settings > Screen to change the screen position, and change the resolution to EDTV or HDTV to output at 480P.
You can also go into the Widescreen Settings and change the setting from Standard (4:3) to Widescreen (16:9) or vice-versa.

Wii2HDMI – Wii adapter for modern TVs with HDMI

Yesterday the Wii2HDMI adapter finally arrived from Aliexpress. His journey was long, but that is not the point now. I tested it and in general I was not very satisfied with the quality.
Firstly, the body of the adapter literally crumbles in the hands. This, however, should not harm the board inside, but it’s still unpleasant. The case when the Chinese again did “like the Chinese”, although in general the quality of products “from there” has long and significantly increased. Perhaps the fact is that Wii2HDMI was invented 7 years ago and since then the technical process has not changed.
Secondly, the picture is darker, it trembles slightly and sometimes (for some reason not always) stripes are visible on the screen – sometimes vertical, sometimes diagonal. One gets the feeling that, in general, the picture with Wii2HDMI is closer to connecting via a composite cable than via a component one. In the screenshots, however, there is not much difference, and in some places it even seems that the image with HDMI is clearer. Perhaps I should make a video to compare exactly the animation, and not the snapshots.
In general, you can play with Wii2HDMI, but my personal opinion is if the TV supports component input (this is when there are 5 “tulips” – 3 for video and 2 for sound – not to be confused with composite, where there is only 1 “tulip” on video) – better to use it. However, if you need to record video or stream, then there are not so many options, because almost all modern video capture devices have only an HDMI input. I still have Live Gamer Portable, it also has an analog input (it was with its help that I took a picture from a component signal), but you can’t call it modern anymore, because. no support for 1080/60p.
Look at some screenshots for comparison (click on the screenshot to view it in full size).
Component signal
Wii2HDMI
In the first line (Wii menu) you can see that the colors of the picture from Wii2HDMI are slightly faded.
In the second screen (DK Country Returns start screen), the Wii2HDMI has those same vertical stripes.
The third one (DKCR is running) — in general, the picture is the same, perhaps even more muted colors in Wii2HDMI are better here.
Fourth (megamen) – picture with Wii2HDMI is better, because there are no orange halos from the pattern on tree trunks.
On the positive side of Wii2HDMI, audio is also transmitted via HDMI. When I saw in the product description that there is a 3.5 mm analog audio output, I thought that there would be no sound via HDMI. But, apparently, this is just an additional way out. I tried to connect headphones to it – the sound goes both there and on HDMI.
True, my Wii2HDMI copy, apparently, has something inside it – and in order for the sound in the headphones to be good, you need to move the plug.
If you have a Wii, then Wii2HDMI is a good thing for recording video, or for playing games if the TV does not support component input.

Anyone who visits our resource can watch online movies in good quality hd 720 for free. And we try not to add third-party ads, only embedded in the video.
There are all kinds of films. From action movies filled with explosions, shootouts and chases. To thrillers that are characterized by tension until the very end.
From science fiction that tells about space adventures or the adventures of superheroes to horror films that are also filled with mysticism. All this is aimed at making you scared to walk around the apartment after watching.
The history of cinema dates back to the beginning of the last century and many changes have taken place during this time. Both genre and technical. If before I had to use makeup, silicone figures.
Now only computer graphics are enough to make any creature or explosion. Genres don’t stand still either.
Previously, in horror films, only a scary character and a realistic setting were enough. Now they use a variety of screamers, computer puppets and painted terrible creatures.
We try to stand out among other sites: – Simple and user-friendly design – All films have excellent HD 720 quality, which allows you to get the most out of your experience – Registration on the site is not required – No annoying ads – Large selection of films of various genres – Daily replenishment of the video database – Site optimized for mobile devices And this is only a small part of the advantages of our site over a huge pile of others. We hope that you will stay with us for a long time and you will not have to look for other online cinemas.

Home Theater and Home Theater Systems at Crutchfield.com
HDTVs produce stunning pictures, with lifelike color and detail, but they don’t offer big, realistic sound for your movies and shows. To make the most of your entertainment, combine a great picture with full, engaging home theater sound. You’ve got plenty of options for getting great sound, from multi-speaker home theater systems to simple one-speaker solutions.
Component home theater systems
A traditional component home theater system, also known as a surround sound system, consists of a TV, video sources, a home theater receiver, and speakers. For the best home theater experience, this is what we recommend.
TVs
Home theater starts with your TV. A big, clear picture is must-have, and bigger is usually better. Choose 4K or OLED
for the latest TV picture technology, and pay attention to smart TV features if you’re interested in streaming content. If you’ve got a dedicated home theater room and you really want to go big, consider a projector that can produce theater-like images on screens measuring as big as 100″ or more.

Video sources
Blu-ray players, 4K media players, and smart set-top boxes — these are all examples of video sources that will provide the audio/video content you’ll play on your home theater system. These devices provide a wide variety of entertainment options — many connect to the Internet so you’ll be able to stream content like Netflix®.
Read our Blu-ray players buying guide Shop video sources
Receivers
A receiver is the center of your home theater system. In addition to providing surround sound processing and the power to drive your speakers, today’s home theater receivers act as a connection hub for all of your of audio/video sources and your TV.
Many of our current receiver models let you control your system wirelessly using a mobile app and some let you stream music from the Internet.
Read our Receivers shopping guide Shop receivers
Speakers
Speakers connect to your receiver to produce the sound you’ll hear. A traditional surround sound system consists of at least five speakers plus a powered subwoofer. You have plenty of options when it comes to speakers, from floor-standing towers to in-ceiling models to complete surround sound speaker packages.

Pre-packaged home theater systems
We carry systems that are already matched together and ready for you to purchase — some combine a receiver and speakers, while others contain speakers and you’ll select a separate receiver.
Powered home theater systems
Also called “home theater in a box,” these systems include a matched receiver and speakers and sometimes also a built-in Blu-ray disc player. All you have to add is a TV or projector.

Surround sound speaker systems
You can build your own speaker system, or choose a pre-matched system. These convenient systems are powered by your receiver and deliver immersive sound. They take the guesswork out of knowing which speakers will sound good together.

Top trends in home theater
Whether you’re looking for the most theater-like experience possible or a way to get great sound with a minimum of gear, we’re on top of the latest trends. Check out a few below.

4K TVs
Ultra High Definition TVs, also known as UHD TVs or 4K TVs, have four times the picture resolution of regular “full HD” 1080p TVs, and can display much more detail. It’s an amazing-looking new technology that gets rave reviews from our customers. Ultra HD TVs are often referred to as “4K” TVs, because they have a horizontal resolution of around 4000 pixels.

Dolby Atmos
®
Dolby Atmos is a cutting-edge surround sound format that was developed to give movie soundtracks a more three-dimensional effect. It creates a “height” layer of sound above the listener. Available for a growing list of movie titles and supported by many newer home theater receivers, Dolby Atmos delivers the most lifelike surround sound we’ve heard yet.

Wireless surround speakers
People frequently ask us about wireless surround speakers. No home theater speaker is truly wireless, because it will need to get power from somewhere. However, some home theater systems feature a wireless transmitter that sends audio signals from the receiver to the speakers in the rear of your room. This eliminates the need to run speaker wire from the front to the back of your room. These speakers usually connect to a wireless receiver that goes in the back of your room and plugs into an AC wall outlet for power.

Sound bars
Sound bars are simple to set up, and they’re great when you don’t have a lot of room for speakers. Many consist of one long, slim speaker that sits beneath your TV plus a subwoofer to provide low-frequency punch. You get much better sound than your TV’s built-in speakers can offer.

1. The Smartest Home Theater System:
Sonos Surround Set with Arc Wireless Dolby Atmos Sound Bar, Subwoofer, and One Gen 2 Speakers
$1,796.40
Regular Price: $2,136.00
Save:
$339.60 (16%)
Sonos made quite a name for themselves with their wireless connection and streaming ecosystem that simplified setup and pioneered voice control. The Arc Sound Bar builds on that brilliant system and fantastic sound quality and adds complete Dolby Atmos capability. The elegant, curved-mesh design of the Arc and the One Surround Speakers underscores this unified concept. The Sub subwoofer has a groundbreaking design: its twin drivers fire into an opening in the center of the cabinet, providing furniture-shaking low end, no matter where you put the speaker. This Sonos system creates an extremely high-quality 3D sound experience with a surprisingly wide soundstage and extraordinary midrange clarity that facilitates clear dialogue, and when streaming Atmos content, fantastic overhead and surround placement.
Whereas most multi-speaker wireless systems use their own proprietary wireless connections, Sonos uses your existing Wi-Fi system to communicate with its components. You can also plug an Ethernet cable into the sound bar or one of the speakers, and then the system will create its own dedicated wireless network to share audio and control information. Also note: Sonos is like LEGOs (which we wrote all about in our Sonos Buying Guide here). With superb Alexa and Google Assistant integration, the Sonos Surround Set is ready to the digital hub of your household, doing much more than stream the shows and music you love.

The Best Surround Sound System for Small Rooms:
SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 Package
$1,199.00
Over the last two decades, SVS has grown into one of the most respected brands in the industry. Initially known for their sternum-vibrating / room-shaking / award-winning subwoofers, today’s new SVS systems can compete with anyone – and the SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 home theater package is a great example. Its compact and easier to fit in a smaller room but turn it up and boom: your small room becomes the Hollywood Bowl.
Each SVS Prime Satellite speaker is about the size of a loaf of bread and contains a 4.5-inch midrange driver and a one-inch tweeter. Small, yes, but they punch like Roberto Duran. The 12-inch driver in the already legendary, 300-watt powered SVS-1000 subwoofer will, on the other hand, have you holding on to your seat. It’s small, too, and neatly tucks into any corner. The system is wired as opposed to wireless, but for the price, the SVS Prime Satellite 5. 1 Package may just be the biggest “little” 5.1 system on the market. (Want something a little bigger? Check out SVS’s “Ultra” series line of speakers. We carry those, too.)
Another big SVS advantage: gaming. A lot of our customers keep their gaming systems in small dens and spare bedrooms. And if you really want to put yourself in the middle of a Gears of War or Call of Duty battle, sans headphones – and you don’t want to spend a fortune to do it – the SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 Package is for you. SVS rocks.

3. The Best Compact 5.1 Home Theater System:
Sonos 5.1 Home Theater Set with Beam (Gen 2), Sub (Gen 3), and One (Gen 2)
$1,476.40
Regular Price: $1,736.00
Save:
$259.60 (15%)
There are a few things more harmful to household harmony than a small living room with half the floor space cluttered with audio gear. The Sonos 5.1 Home Theater Set is a brilliant choice for any apartment dwellers who crave true surround sound and Dolby Atmos compatibility. The second-generation Beam sound bar is only half as wide as many of the larger sound bars on the market yet is fully compatible with 3D audio in a variety of formats. It connects with all modern televisions with HDMI eARC, so not only can it pass through true Atmos content, but it’ll be compatible with formats coming down the pike in the future.
The Sub subwoofer with its center-facing drivers can be placed nearly anywhere you have a spot of it, yet it can still provide floor-rattling sound effects. Place the two surround speakers behind your sofa, and within a few minutes of easy setup time you’ve got a full-on 5.1 system, complete with Dolby Atmos height channels.
Sonos has been a market leader with integrating Google Alexa, so you can stream from a variety of services and apps, configure the settings, and control additional speakers throughout your home just by using your voice. Apply AirPlay 2 makes it a snap to stream content from your Apple devices. Need to be considerate of neighbors or progeny sleeping in the next room? Just activate Night Mode to reduce the volume of the booms and thuds while raising the level of the romantic whispers, so can keep the experience while keeping the peace.

4. The Best Wireless Home Theater System:
Bose Soundbar 900 Home Theater System with Bass Module 700 Subwoofer
$1,448.00
Regular Price: $1,748.00
Save:
$300.00 (17%)
In our “Best Sound Bars of 2023” article, the Bose Soundbar 900 won smartest sound bar for surround sound. Now here as the core component in the Bose Smart Wireless Home Theater System, Bose does it again. The Bose SB900 won because we turned it on and were promptly blown away by a sound field that A) seemed much wider than any other pre-packaged system we tested, B) made dialogue – even soft or whispered dialogue – crystal clear, and C) was equally effective no matter where we sat.
Every component in this system is part of Bose’s family of smart wireless speakers. Start with this system, and place a Bose Home Speaker 500 in the kitchen and the smaller TV Speaker in your bedroom for a multi-room audio experience throughout the house. And with Amazon Alexa built-in, you can control it all with simple voice commands.
For decades, Bowers and Wilkins has provided monitor speakers to the artists, engineers, and producers who create your favorite music and soundtracks. Audio professionals have come to rely on the accuracy and beauty of the sound of Bowers & Wilkins monitors. And now, Bowers & Wilkins has come up with a brilliant way to provide that same sound in a remarkably compact monitor speaker that’s designed to be the core of a stereo system or part of an integrated 5.1 system. When you swivel an M1 Satellite Speaker into a horizontal position, it can excel as the center channel speaker of a 5. 1 system. The M1s provide extraordinarily clear and focused sound, yet they can fit easily on a bookshelf, a table, or a floor stand, or you can use the included brackets to mount them on your wall.
The ASW608 Compact Subwoofer barely takes up one square foot of floor space, yet delivers bass frequencies without distortion, even at a volume that rattles your windows. If you’ve been dreaming of adding a high-end surround system to your home theater, you couldn’t ask for a better option then the Bowers & Wilkins 5.1 Channel Satellite Speaker Package. Give our experts a call anytime to talk about options for configuring these speakers in your space, as well as choosing a receiver that’s optimized for your needs.
6. The Best Budget Home Theater System:
Polk Audio React Home Theater System with React Sound Bar, Wireless Subwoofer, and Wireless Surround Speakers
$557.00
Regular Price: $667.00
Save:
$110.00 (16%)
This affordable system gives you sound and functionality that defies comprehension when you know how inexpensive it is. The Polk Audio React system provides astonishing 5.1 surround sound, has the simplest wireless setup imaginable, gives you complete voice control, and integrates with all your home devices. At the heart of the system is the React Sound Bar, which amazed bloggers, reviewers, and even audiophiles with its excellent sound, slim profile, and comprehensive Alexa implementation. This model provides a significant upgrade to its sound and Alexa functionality (and say goodbye to that distracting light ring), while still maintaining its compact size.
Besides the React Sound Bar, the set includes the React Subwoofer and a pair of SR2 Wireless Surround Speakers. Even with its booty-shaking 7″ downward-firing speaker, the subwoofer doesn’t hog floor space. The surround speakers aren’t much bigger than a video game console — they take up hardly any space when you put them on a table or shelves — but they’ll fill your room with real 5.1 sound. Once you’ve powered them up, setup requires less time than it takes to make breakfast. Just scan the QR code on the back of the sound bar, and your Alexa app handles the rest, giving you very clear instructions and confirming when everything is ready to go.
Even by itself, the React Sound Bar is a tremendous upgrade to the sound quality of your TV’s built-in system — with DTS, it can deliver 3D sound for games and movies that is quite impressive. Once you connect the other components, the system reconfigures its EQ settings to give you an immersive sound surround experience that we find immensely satisfying.

Three quick things about this guide…
1. This is not about TVs.
It’s the question we get most: “So, what exactly is a home theater system?” And though (obviously) a good TV and/or projector and screen are principal to the experience, home theater is all about sound. Or more to the point: sound so real, so lifelike and so 3-dimensional, it suspends disbelief and puts you in the action. And the bigger and better the sound, the bigger and better the experience. (If you do want to upgrade your TV, our Top TVs of 2023 buying guide is a must-read.)
2. What you need:
A typical home theater system includes a home theater receiver (where the power comes from / what everything connects to) and speakers – including (but certainly not limited to): a center speaker, right and left front speakers, right and left rear speakers, special effect speakers (or height speakers) for Dolby Atmos, and a subwoofer or two.
3. The three distinct types:
The type of home theater system you choose will depend on several factors, but here’s the good news: there’s a home theater solution for every situation. The three types include:
Pre-packaged home theater systems (aka home-theater-in-a-box). Very easy to set up and everything matches.
A home theater system made up of separate components. More customizable with respect to sound and design aesthetics.
A dedicated, custom designed and installed home theater. Where we gut the whole room and start over – new walls, new ceiling, built-in components, luxury theater seating and lighting, cinematic touches throughout, and so on. (What we call “the whole shootin’ match.”) Pricey, yes, but more common than you might think.
This article covers the first two. For those interested in the third – a dedicated, custom designed and installed home theater – please contact us here. Our designers and home theater technicians will provide options, references and photos of award-winning, custom home theaters designed and built by World Wide Stereo to exacting specifications.
What do I need for a Dolby Atmos setup?
The first thing you’ll need for a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos home theater setup is a Dolby Atmos capable receiver. Additionally, you’ll need eight speakers: a center speaker, two left and right main speakers, left and right surrounds, a pair of Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, and a subwoofer.
You’ll also need to handle the visuals, whether that be from an external device like a blue ray player, a projector, or the internal apps on your TV.
Lastly, you’ll need the proper cables. High-speed HDMI cables, enough speaker wire to connect all of the speakers, and an RCA cable long enough to connect your subwoofer to your receiver.
We know this seems like a lot, but don’t worry. For receivers, you can consult our AV Receiver Buying Guide and gear guide to help you decide on the best option. If you’re looking for a new TV to compliment your new Dolby Atmos system, we’ve got your back there, too! Check out our guide on how to choose which TV to buy to see all our suggestions on how you can pick the TV that meets your needs no matter what your budget is.
How much does a home theater cost?
It really depends on what you want, the size of the room, and your budget. A home theater setup can vary from $667 to $8,000 or more. Fortunately, we have home theater bundles for every price range!
What home theater receiver do I need?
That depends on what the rest of your setup is like. We’d recommend taking a look at our AV receivers Buying Guide to find out what to look for to fit your needs! If you’re still having trouble, you can always reach out to us, with over a dozen seasoned pros standing by to help you figure out precisely what you need!
What home theater system should I buy?
You should buy what fits your wants and needs, and never settle for less! For a good starting point, you can take a look at some of our recommendations here.
What home theater projector should I buy?
We’d suggest you take a look at our guide for Best Projectors. There are plenty of options there for different needs and budgets; we’re confident you’ll find one that fits you. If you’re still feeling a little lost, you can always contact us and one of our pros will be able to give you a recommendation based on your needs.
Can I connect my home theater to my laptop or PC?
It depends on the system, but if it can be set up through a single HDMI cable or wirelessly, it can be!
Are home theater systems good for music?
Heck yeah they are! While music might not be as immersive as movies or TV shows with a good surround system, it can still certainly provide a fully immersive surround listening experience.
Are Home Theater Systems Wireless?
Not all of them, but there are wireless options available!
Still not sure? We got this.
Even with our Home Theater Systems Buying Guide and our “best” picks above, maybe you’re not sure what to get, or what to do next. No surprise there, home theaters come in many, many variations… and shopping for the right one for you, your house, and your budget can be a bit intimidating. Which is why we invite you to call or email us anytime.
We can help you hone your choices, open your eyes to possibilities you may not have considered, and save you money in the process – just like we’ve done for thousands of customers over our 40 years in the business. Our one and only goal: helping you get it right. Our one and only motive: doing such a great job, you tell your friends, neighbors (even your cousin Ricky) about us.
One more thing:

The Final Word
When you’re looking for the best home entertainment devices, it’s easy to get lost. Believe me, there are thousands of them.
Of all the areas of home automation, entertainment is literally overflowing with technology, so today we’ll break down the basics for you.
Instead of spreading the net too broadly, we’ve focused on 7 key areas that can help you create a complete and high-performing home entertainment system without having to take out a bank loan.
When you want to invest in this type of equipment, it is important to have a general budget in advance. Thus, you do not have to spend all your available funds on one device.
We will cover the following categories of entertainment:
Hub and remote control
Mesh WiFi system
Smart speakers
Smart displays
Smart TVs, projectors and monitors
Soundbars & Speakers
Streaming Devices
We have handpicked a small number of the best products for each category.
First of all, you should consider a hub and some form of remote control.
1) hub and remote control
If you already have a secure connected home, chances are you have a home hub. Check out our research on why they’re so important right here.
However, when you’re designing your home entertainment system, it pays to have some special control, and that’s where the mighty Logitech dominates.
Logitech Harmony Elite is a remote control and hub together with a companion application, so you can streamline the team perfectly. You can control entertainment devices and other smart technologies throughout your home from one place.
The app is crisp and responsive and lets you turn your iPhone or Android device into a personal universal remote.
You can also use the physical remote, which allows you to control up to 15 devices. From tweaking a TV box to setting up smart lighting for a movie, you get more than just basic on/off functionality. Planning is a simple task, and you can get all your smart technologies to sing in harmony.
Get yourself a smart speaker and you can use Alexa to add voice control to the mix.
Because the signals are sent to the linked hub, you also don’t need to point the remote at the devices. You will also be able to control devices that are behind closed cabinets, completing an already winning package.
Maybe you want to get even more creative with control…
If so, iRule is a great app that lets you turn any iOS device into a fully customizable controller.
You don’t need to install any software because the remote collector runs in the cloud. You don’t need to be a programming wizard either, so this works well even for beginners thanks to the drag and drop setup.
Once you’ve got everything set up, you’ll be able to control your entire range of home entertainment devices using just your iPhone or iPad. Choose from 12 gestures and you can fully control your entertainment ecosystem without any hardware.
2) WiFi Mesh System
Almost all 21st century home entertainment systems rely on stable and reliable WiFi.
If you have a large house or your connection is prone to annoying dead zones, this can seriously hinder your streaming.
What do you do then?
Well, the obvious solution is to upgrade your traditional router-based WiFi to a mesh WiFi system.
We highly recommend Google WiFi Home Mesh. If you purchase a package with 3 nodes – think of them as mini routers – you get full WiFi coverage in up to 4,500 square feet.
Advanced Network Assist is built-in so the mesh network is optimized in the background and does not require user intervention. If you’re tired of manually switching from a 2.4GHz network to a less crowded 5GHz network, Google Home Mesh does it for you. All devices will be given the appropriate bandwidth so everyone will be happy.
Family management gives you the ability to control and regulate your children’s internet activity, which is nice.
With your control system and Wi-Fi running at full blast, a smart speaker is the obvious entry point for home entertainment.
3) Smart speakers
Smart speakers wear many hats.
At one level, you can control compatible smart devices hands-free. This is perhaps the biggest selling point.
In the cheaper end of the market, sound is generally unimpressive, so we opted for a pair of smart speakers that actually deliver good sound quality. Not surprisingly, they come from the companies that have a stranglehold on this space, Amazon and Google.
The Echo Plus is very expensive compared to other home entertainment devices and comes with a built-in Zigbee home hub. If you’re just getting started with home automation, this is a great way to get started without an extra gateway.
The 3″ woofer and 0.8″ tweeter work together to create an impressive sound. The highs are crisp and tight, and the bass is powerful without any muddiness. Alexa will stream music from all your favorite radio stations and apps, so you have an endless selection of tunes.
Despite this high performance, the Echo Plus is compact and slim, measuring just 5.8 x 3.9 x 3.9 inches, so it doesn’t stand out but blends in with others.
What if you have a more flexible budget and want even better sound quality?
Well, try Google Home Max and you’ll get all the search power you’ve come to expect, plus “room-filling sound” that, for once, lives up to the hype.
A pair of 4.5″ woofers and 2 custom tweeters deliver punchy bass and excellent clarity at all frequencies, even when you’re working hard on the volume.
With Google Assistant, you can control other smart home entertainment devices using only voice commands.
4) Smart Displays
If you want all the convenience of a smart speaker with the added visual element of a screen, Amazon is in the lead again.
Echo Show is an original smart display that adds a 10″ HD screen.
Since the kitchen is the center of most homes, the Echo Show is the perfect addition to your home entertainment collection. Whether you’re looking for a music video while you’re cooking, or some recipes to inspire, the screen will add that extra dose of fun.
The screen also makes video calls possible. You can call other Echo devices, anyone with the Alexa app, or use Skype.
Like the Echo Show, you can control compatible Zigbee devices without the need for an additional hub. You will also, of course, have Alexa to do it for you.
If the full-size second generation Echo Show is too bulky, Amazon can help you there too.
Check out our review of Echo Show 5 if you want all the big brother’s skills to be half the size.
So with all the basics for hands-free control, you’ll need something to bring all your home entertainment devices to life. After all, you don’t want to obsess over Netflix or watch a special effects movie on a 10-inch screen, do you?
5) Smart TVs, projectors and monitors
There is no right or wrong decision when buying a TV or projector. A lot depends on the size of your room, your budget and what you want from it.
Smart TV
One of our personal favorites in the crowded vertical is Samsung’s 75-inch 4K UHD 7 Series Smart TV. What makes this 4K beauty stand out?
The large screen size itself may be a key selling point, but you won’t miss out on quality. HDR content is fully supported, including HDR10+, and you’ll get 4x the resolution of a standard HD screen. With a built-in UHD engine, all non-4K content is upscaled so you get crystal clear no matter what you’re watching.
By choosing this 2018 model, you can save a lot while maintaining the desired screen area.
Although you don’t get a Smart Remote, the Universal Guide makes it easy to view content from a single menu.
What if 75 inches isn’t enough?
Smart Projectors
You can always consider adding a projector to your home entertainment portfolio. We have something else to offer in the form of the Anker Nebula capsule. This mini projector looks more like an Echo Plus than a traditional projector and has a display up to 100 inches. It gives you the feeling of being in a movie theater without leaving your home.
Nebula’s built-in advantage is the ability to run streaming and media applications, including YouTube and Netflix. For copyrighted content, you’ll need to download apps on Nebula rather than screencasting, but you’ll be spoiled for choice in entertainment from all the usual suspects.
Weighing in at just 15 ounces, this Anker projector is the perfect travel companion and the perfect entertainment center if you have a second home that doesn’t have the home theater you would want if money didn’t matter.
Anker Nebula Capsule, running Android 7.1 and equipped with a built-in speaker, gives you up to 4 hours of video on a single charge, more than enough for an even longer movie.
Perhaps your children are avid gamers or you yourself are not indifferent to online games. The LG 34″ Curved Gaming Monitor comes with an adjustable stand and really bring Fortnite or Call of Duty to life.
34″ FHD 19″ display20 x 1080 delivers crisp, detailed graphics no matter what game you choose.
In terms of content, this monitor is HDR10 compatible and has anti-blur functionality and an impressive refresh rate.
If you want to step up your games and enjoy a truly immersive experience, this monitor is perfect. It may not be cheap, but it far exceeds its weight. If you like the idea of this LG but can’t reach it, downsize to the 27-inch model to cut costs.
6) Soundbars & Speakers
Now it’s time to think about home entertainment devices that bring sound to life, and we have a first-class solution for you.
Sonos Playbase Wireless Soundbar and Streaming Speakers enhance the audio experience when you’re watching smart TV, and they also serve as a regular streaming speaker.
If the thought of building a home theater intimidates you, Sonos ensures you get plug-and-play ease of setup. Simply connect this compact device with a couple of cords and connect wirelessly within the app.
An array of 10 drivers bombards you with a deep and poignant soundscape.
You also don’t need to mount this soundbar to the wall, so if you have a TV on a stand or cabinet, just place the Sonos nearby.
If the sound is still not powerful enough for you, you can upgrade your system with more Sonos speakers to really party.
7) flow devices
Last but not least, no self-respecting smart home entertainment system is complete without a streaming device.
Among the many options, our personal favorite is the Roku Ultra HD/4K/HDR Streaming Media Player.
With more and more content in Ultra HD and 4K, you’ll need a streaming stick to keep up with the times. Roku gives you the opportunity to enjoy rich and detailed content with over half a million movies and TV shows.
Navigate over 1000 channels with voice commands with built-in Alexa. However, you will need an Echo device to do this.
There is a voice remote which is a nice touch and you also get some JBL headphones as a welcome gift.
For great connectivity and seamless streaming of all the best content, consider Roku over your standard Fire TV.
Last word
When it comes to smart home entertainment systems, you can spend as much as you spent on your home and still barely touch what’s available.

Making Coffee and Chatting: Smart Home Solutions Trends for Startups to Consider
While the global digital home market has tumbled this year, it is expected to recover to $62 billion in 2021 and reach $88 billion by 2025. What trends are already being observed and what should startups pay attention to?
Voice control
A few years ago, even the banal shutdown of traffic jams in a smart home could not do without turning to the central interactive system or mobile applications.
Voice control made the coordination of functions much easier. With the help of voice, it has become convenient to turn on the lamps, activate the alarm and control electronic devices separately. Voice assistants (Google Home, Siri, Alice or Bixby) use AI technology for language recognition, are self-learning and adapt to the desires of their owners.
Not without a fly in the ointment. Voice assistants have been implicated in a string of spying scandals. The exposed companies publicly repented, but the problem of protecting users’ private data remained open. With her decision, the Maltese Aryia entered the market, offering the first assistant that does not follow, based on the blockchain.
Intelligent home control systems
In addition to comfortable voice control, AI simplifies the comprehensive regulation of home systems by adding data from user data statistics. Know-how EMIIA.AI, for example, allows you to use RF data processed using AI to track the movements of moving objects in space.

Smart home as a segment of the Internet of Things (IoT)
Imagine your favorite music playing from the alarm clock speakers in the morning, the blinds open and the water in the bathroom heated to a comfortable temperature. When you’re ready to have breakfast, the TV in the kitchen will turn on and freshly brewed coffee and crispy toast will be waiting for you. All these operations would not be possible without IoT technologies – seamless connection and interaction of all systems and electronic equipment of a smart home to a single infrastructure.
In practice, ordinary electronic devices can also be connected to the network through special switches (C by GE, Wemo), adapters (Leviton Decora, Kasa Smart), extension cords (Xiaomi Mi) and sockets (Wemo).
Smart sockets and switches can control the operation of electrical appliances, but since the device is connected to a smart grid, they can be controlled remotely from a phone or using a voice assistant.
This allows you to set a schedule for when lights and household appliances will turn on, and control most home systems.
The European IoT infrastructure market is expected to remain attractive to investors, with volumes exceeding $7. 2 billion by 2025. According to the IDC analytical company, in 2020 the global IoT market amounted to $742 billion. , video surveillance systems (Belkin Wireless NetCam) and monitoring of air quality, energy and water supply. The weak link is the digital protection of the system.
The security of an IoT network depends on each device in the system. Replication of individual device protocols is the most common way to compromise a system.
To protect yourself, you need monitoring and access control systems for IP video surveillance and related equipment included in the smart home system. The development of integrated security systems, both at the device level and at the software level, remains one of the most profitable and popular areas for the near future.
Smart energy management
Home energy management systems (HEMS) are gaining popularity primarily in Europe and the US as a response to the global environmental crisis and the liberalization of the retail electricity market. As the technologies underlying HEMS improve, the cost of electricity rises and energy carriers diversify, the size of the European market in the consumer segment will exceed $4 billion in five years.
Efficiently manage your home energy supply with a new generation of meters.
Devolo hardware collects data and meters allow you to use energy wisely, such as running a washing machine cycle when electricity is cheapest.
Dutch Getlyv went even further and combined in its products, in addition to smart sensors, portable batteries (allowing you to save the energy received during the day and give it to the grid at peak loads) and energy consumption monitoring systems. The Russian electricity market is still under state control, which leads to low interest in HEMS.
Lighting systems
Cold bright light in the morning and the same in the evening. Improper lighting affects the feeling of comfort in the house and can spoil the mood. Thanks to the know-how in lighting, it can be adjusted at any time without much effort and even save energy.
The smart lighting segment is now one of the most saturated, it was chosen by large players in the early stages. The most popular lighting systems are Philips Hue, IKEA TRÅDFRI and Osram Lightify products.
Blockchain for a smart home
The privacy problem discussed above can be solved and the cyber security of a smart home can be significantly improved using the blockchain. The technology eliminates unauthorized attempts to access or interfere with any part of the system without compromising the operation of the system as a whole, thereby solving the security issue.
Lition’s business is based on this idea: the company offers solutions for smart home and office devices using blockchain.
Unsplash
Home health monitoring gadgets
Smart home technology has not bypassed home accessories. Smart pillows (Zeeq Smart Pillow, iSense Sleep Smart Pillow, Dreampad Slim), mattresses (Sleep Number, ReST Bed) and blankets (Smartduvet) measure physiological parameters during sleep and transmit information to a smartphone app. Such devices allow you to get rid of snoring, monitor sleep pathologies, control temperature, heartbeat and respiratory rate. Data from such devices helps in the prevention and treatment of diseases.
Household robots
Affordable robotics for everyday work (or “service” devices like robotic vacuum cleaners) have quietly carved a niche in the home goods market. Line up for “social” robots that will perform simple tasks like making coffee or tea and keep up the conversation.
A good example of a social robot is Temi home. It is equipped with motion sensors, uses AI for face and voice recognition, and is equipped with a virtual assistant, which allows you to bring human-machine interaction to a whole new level.
Entertainment systems
When it comes to home entertainment systems, audio and video equipment comes to mind. In a smart home, the concept of entertainment systems includes all related devices (lighting, control devices, virtual and augmented reality gadgets) – we are talking about the integrated management of entertainment systems.
The entertainment control market is not yet saturated and is represented by young companies. Roomie Remote allows you to coordinate commands for all A/V equipment from your mobile phone and seamlessly integrates with popular home platforms. NEEO offers universal remotes and hubs for connecting all entertainment equipment.
The evolution of the smart home over the past decade is impressive, but there is still plenty of room in the market for new startups and developments. Voice assistants protected from surveillance of users, infrastructure for the Internet of things, security systems for devices and software, smart power supply and lighting, health monitoring and control of entertainment equipment are popular and profitable areas for investment in the Smart Home field.

The best home printer we’ve tested is the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500, a cheaper variant of the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 we tested. The difference between the two, aside from the ET-8550’s higher price, is that the ET-8550 supports wide format paper up to 13″ x 19″, which is only relevant to a limited subset of people; simply put, the cheaper ET-8500 is a better option for most users. It produces sharp, high-quality documents and incredibly detailed and colorful photos. As a supertank printer, it uses a large reservoir of ink that you can refill with ink bottles instead of cartridges. A full tank yields thousands of prints, and replacement ink is cheap, so you don’t need to worry about high maintenance costs.
You can connect to the printer via Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet and print directly off an SD card. Its flatbed scanner performs incredibly well, as it can pick up even the tiniest details, so it’s excellent for digitizing your old photos. However, there’s no automatic document feeder, so you must scan each page manually. Regardless of which variant you choose, remember that this is a photo printer first, so if you only plan on printing documents, you can easily find cheaper models suitable for that task, like the printers we recommend below.

If you only need a printer for document printing and general office tasks, get the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 instead. Like the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550, it’s also an all-in-one color inkjet model with a refillable ink tank, making it a great choice for households that print a lot. It prints black and color documents well at a decent speed, churning out 15 black or seven color pages per minute. Printed photos look good but aren’t as detailed or color-accurate as the pictures the ET-8550 produces since it’s more of a general-purpose printer.
It offers Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet connectivity and supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service. The scanner produces exceptionally high-quality scans and is equipped with an automatic feeder to process multi-page documents. It’s slow, though, as it can only scan up to three pages per minute and doesn’t support duplex scanning. It’s compatible with Epson’s mobile app, which you can use to print, scan, copy, and perform maintenance tasks.

If you want to save money with a more modest mid-range model, check out the Brother MFC-J4335DW. This all-in-one inkjet model yields around 2200 black and 800 color pages with a set of full cartridges, and you can get XL cartridges that’ll last even longer. Of course, it’ll never match the page yield or cost-per-print of a supertank printer like the models we recommend above, but its page yield is highly impressive for a printer that uses ink cartridges. It produces high-quality black and color documents, and although it doesn’t have the best color accuracy or color range, printed photos still look very detailed.
As for printing speed, it churns out 17 black or 15 color pages per minute, and it doesn’t take long to wake from sleep and get a page out. The scanner processes up to 20 pages per minute through its automatic feeder, but it doesn’t support duplex scanning, so you’ll have to scan double-sided sheets manually. If you need Ethernet connectivity or NFC support, you can get the Brother MFC-J4535DW variant; just expect to pay more. On the plus side, you’ll get an additional 250-sheet input tray and a larger touch-sensitive display.

Our best budget home printer pick is the Brother MFC-J1205W, also known as the Brother MFC-J1215W at Walmart. It’s a good option for households with a light to moderate print load. It has the usual Wi-Fi and USB connectivity and supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service. Although the scanner produces high-quality scans, it has trouble capturing finer details, so it might not be the best for digitizing photos. There’s no automatic feeder or duplex scanning, which is typical for a budget model.
As for its printing performance, it produces very sharp documents; it just isn’t very fast, as it can only push out nine black or six color pages per minute. Also, it doesn’t support automatic duplex printing, so you’ll have to flip the pages manually when double-sided printing. For photo printing, it’s excellent at reproducing very fine details but struggles with bright, saturated tones, so pictures tend to look a little flat. The ink cartridges yield around 1100 black and 700 color pages, so you won’t have to replace them often unless you print a lot, and they’re relatively cheap, which helps keep running costs low.

If you only print occasionally, we recommend the Canon PIXMA MG3620. It prints sharp documents and colorful photos, but unlike the models above, it yields significantly fewer prints, meaning you’ll often have to replace the ink cartridges. The cost per print is still low because the ink cartridges are relatively cheap; it just requires more maintenance. Also, since it uses a tri-color cartridge, you replace the entire cartridge if one color runs out, which is wasteful. You can get XL cartridges that’ll last longer; however, they’ll still yield fewer prints than the budget Brother MFC-J1205W or the mid-range Brother MFC-J4335DW.
Unfortunately, this is a pretty slow printer. It takes longer than most inkjet printers to initialize and only prints up to nine black or three color pages per minute. It supports automatic duplex printing, so you don’t need to flip the pages manually when printing double-sided. The Canon also has USB and Wi-Fi connectivity, supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service, and is compatible with Canon’s mobile app. The scanner produces excellent scans where the colors look a little washed out, but there are a lot of fine details.

Epson EcoTank ET-2400:
The Epson EcoTank ET-2400 is a cheaper alternative to the Epson EcoTank ET-3850. It prints higher-quality photos than the ET-3850 but lacks an automatic feeder, Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service support, and automatic duplex printing. It also prints slower and yields fewer prints than the ET-3850.

Canon PIXMA TR8620a:
To print photos, the Canon PIXMA TR8620a is a good alternative to the Brother MFC-J4335DW. It produces more colorful pictures with less grain, but its ink cartridges don’t last as long, so it costs more to maintain over time.

Whether you’re printing off photos to save in your scrapbook or want to have some glossy prints of your best pictures handy, a good photo printer can make a huge difference when you’re saving those important images. While most printers can print images, the best printers for pictures can accurately and vividly reproduce colors while still retaining detail from your original photo. Inkjet printers also tend to be better suited for printing photos, and some inkjets even include special photo cartridges to give you an even better color reproduction.
We’ve tested over 125 printers, and below are our recommendations for the best photo printers you can buy. For other options, check out our picks for the best home printers, the best inkjet printers, and the best all-in-one printers.

The best photo printer we’ve tested is the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300, a professional-grade photo printer. It produces incredibly detailed, vibrant, color-accurate pictures without banding or other artifacts. It supports borderless printing and various paper sizes up to 13″ x 19″, making it a great choice for printing posters. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet, and there’s support for Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service, so you can easily print from your Apple and Android devices without installing any drivers or a third-party app.
This printer uses nine cartridges, including specific photo cartridges that work only on glossy photo paper, meaning you won’t have to worry about depleting the photo ink if you shift to printing documents or reports. That said, the cartridges are only good for about 400 color prints, and they’re expensive, so you’ll have to spend a fair amount of money on maintenance. If you haven’t already noticed, this is a print-only model, so you’ll need a separate scanner to digitize photos.

If you don’t need a professional-grade printer but still want high-quality photos, get the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 instead. Like the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300, it produces detailed and colorful photos, but it isn’t as color-accurate as it tends to oversaturate colors to make them more vibrant. The pictures still look amazing, just don’t expect them to be exactly like the original. As this is an all-in-one, you also get a scanner that produces high-quality scans, which is great for digitizing photos. It has the usual Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet connectivity and can print directly from an SD card.
What makes this printer great is its refillable ink tank. It yields thousands of prints, and replacement ink is cheap, so you don’t have to worry about high maintenance costs. This printer is also a great option for printing posters, as it supports paper sizes up to 13″ x 19″. If you don’t need wide format printing and would rather save money, choose the cheaper Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 variant. It performs exactly like the ET-8550 but only supports paper sizes up to 8.5″ x 11″.

For a more modest mid-range pick, we chose the Epson EcoTank ET-2800, also known as the Epson EcoTank ET-2803 at Walmart and Target. Like the pricier Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550, it’s an all-in-one supertank model that yields thousands of prints with its ink reservoir filled to capacity, keeping costs of ownership very low. However, it only uses the usual cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink. It still prints very detailed photos, but because it has a narrower color gamut, some colors, like bright, saturated tones, don’t come out as well.
You can connect via USB or Wi-Fi, and there’s support for Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service. This printer works with Epson’s Smart Panel mobile app, which you can use to print, scan, and perform maintenance tasks. The scanner produces good-quality scans with nice coloring, but it has trouble capturing finer details, so it might not be ideal if you’re looking to digitize photos. It also prints very slowly, taking around a minute and a half to print a single 4″ x 6″ photo.

For those on a tighter budget, we recommend the Canon PIXMA TR8620a. This all-in-one produces detailed and vibrant photos and supports various paper sizes up to 8.5″ x 11″. You can connect to the printer via Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet and print directly from an SD card. It has a high-resolution scanner, but the scan quality is only okay, so it isn’t the best for digitizing photos. The main downside of this model is that, unlike our EcoTank picks above, it uses more traditional ink cartridges with a comparatively low page yield, so you’ll be swapping them out pretty often. Thankfully, the cartridges are relatively cheap.
If you prefer a supertank model, get the Canon PIXMA G3260 instead. Its ink reservoir yields significantly more prints than the TR8620’s cartridges, making it incredibly cheap to maintain. It has a slightly wider color range than the TR8620 but isn’t as color-accurate, as printed photos have a noticeably warmer tone. It also prints much slower and isn’t as well-built as the TR8620.

If you need a cheap printer to print the occasional photo, we recommend the Canon PIXMA MG3620. It prints good-quality, sharp photos with decent color accuracy, and it does so fairly quickly, taking only 50 seconds to print a 4″ x 6″ picture on glossy paper. The main drawback is that it only uses two ink cartridges: one black and one tri-color. These ink cartridges don’t last very long, meaning you’ll have to replace them often. Also, since it uses a tri-color cartridge, you have to replace the entire cartridge if only a single color runs out. XL cartridges are available, but this printer won’t yield as many prints as a model with more cartridges or a supertank model like the Epson EcoTank ET-2800. Thankfully, the cartridges are cheap, so your overall maintenance cost won’t rise too quickly.

If you’re looking for the best printer for printing photos on the go, check out the Canon PIXMA TR150, a print-only inkjet model with a built-in rechargeable battery. It has USB and Wi-Fi connectivity and supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service; you can easily connect your smartphone and start printing without installing any drivers or third-party apps. Printed photos look detailed and colorful, albeit slightly grainy. You’ll have to replace the ink cartridges often, as they yield only about 190 color prints; however, they’re relatively cheap, so you won’t have to spend too much to maintain them over time. The internal battery supplies enough power for around 330 prints and takes about two hours to fully charge.
If you want something even more compact, get the Canon SELPHY Square QX10. It’s significantly more compact, meaning it’s easier to fit into a handbag, and it has an internal rechargeable battery. However, it uses dye-sublimation to print photos and can only print on Canon’s 2.84″ x 3.35″ proprietary paper. The print quality isn’t as good as the TR150, though that’s to be expected, as it’s designed to produce more polaroid-like photos. Unfortunately, its cost per print is much higher, so it can get very expensive if you print a lot. Also, you can only print about 20 photos before the battery runs out of power.

HP Neverstop LJ 1200w: compact and fast
Compared to Epson L3151, this printer easily fits in the corner of the table and takes up little space. The gadget also performs a scanner option, coping well with copying a single page or ID cards.
There is a toner level indicator on the front panel. Allows you to determine when they need to be replaced. What is good, the manufacturer ships the device with the toner already installed. It will last approximately 5,000 pages before the first refill is required.
The nuance lies in the inconvenient input tray. Instead of the usual sliding mechanism, you need to open the lid, insert and align the paper, and then replace the lid. Not the most convenient option if you need to urgently print a couple of sheets.
But when it comes to printing, the HP Neverstop LJ 1200w packs a punch. For a text file of 25 pages, it will take a minute and a half to print. The text comes out drawn and saturated.

Release Date
There are some disputes about when Galaxy Note 6 will be released. Therefore, it’s difficult in saying its release date for certain. According to Korean media, Galaxy Note 6 will be announced in mid-July. However, as still remains skeptical, we can check out the Samsung Galaxy Note Series release date trend and deduce when it will take place.
Galaxy Note 1: Release on September 2011
Galaxy Note 2: Release on August 29, 2012
Galaxy Note 3: Release on September 25, 2013
Galaxy Note 4: Release on October 17, 2014
Galaxy Note 5: Release on August 21, 2015
According to the trend, we assume that Galaxy Note 6 will be released in around September this year, sooner or later. Meanwhile, TechRadar cited a source within one of UK’s major network operators and said that Samsung will not be launching the next edge+ handset in the UK but will bring the Galaxy Note lineup back in August with the Galaxy Note 6. However, Samsung has no official comment on any speculations.
New Features
As nothing is official yet, there are many hot rumors concerning Galaxy Note 6. First of all, Galaxy Note 6 is said to have a 6-inch 4K/UHD display screen, and then, it will have 6 GB or even 8 GB RAM and an internal storage of 256 GB with UFS 2.0. Last but not least, it will line up with the latest Android N.
Processor
It is rumored that Samsung Note 6 Series will have one with Snapdragon 820 SoC in western market as well as the other with Exynos 8890 in East Asia. However, media in China recently reported that it will have Snapdragon 823 which is 2.6 GHz Quad Core processor. Qualcomm SD823 is expected to launch soon this year. Galaxy Note 6 is rumored to have 6GB RAM, even support RAM up to 8GB, which means it’s going to bring some major upgrades to 820 SoC in terms of performance as well as battery life.
Storage
Talking about Samsung Note 6 storage, it will come with 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB storage options. According to some leaks, there will even be 256 GB RAM with UFS 2.0. Having an option to increase device capacity will always be helpful for us to do more things. This year Samsung has addressed these issues and now we have external micro SD card support for Galaxy S7. Galaxy Note 6 is believed to have one as well.
Display
It is said that Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will have a 6-inch flexible screen. It is really rare in the phone market. As is known to us, Galaxy Note 5 has a 5.7-inch QHD display, whose pixel density is up to 618ppi. In fact, we tend to believe that Note 6 will be having the same screen as Note 5. However, given that Galaxy Note 6 would have a 4000 mAh battery power, it is perhaps because of more power consumption caused by a bigger screen.
One point we know for certain is that Note 6 will be having an S Pen, moreover a phone base for connection to turn into a micro laptop.
In addition, some rumors also suggest that it will also have a rounded screen much like the ones that we have in the Galaxy Edge series. Now, confusion still remains about the fact that if Samsung Galaxy Note 6 itself comes with curved screen what about the edge series.
Battery
For the battery specs of upcoming Galaxy Note 6, it will have a 4000 mAh power non-removable battery with a Quick Charging 3.0. Thanks to its fast-charging technology, Galaxy Note 6 is expected to charge 40 % of the battery in just 4 minutes. How amazing would it be? But a lot more is yet to be revealed by the company.
Water Resistance
Galaxy Note 6 is rumored to be water and dust resistant. Galaxy S7 had integrated IP68 dust resistance system and it was water resistant as well, but only up to 3 feet in 30 minutes. More or less this resistance power will be kept same for the upcoming devices too.
Camera Spec
The recently launched Galaxy S7 flagship has arrived with 12 MP primary and 5 MP front camera which is downgraded as we compare it to Note 5 or Galaxy S6. But in actual you will not find any lack of picture quality as the phone has f/1.8 aperture lens with bigger pixels. Now, talking about Note 6 camera specs, Samsung is going to launch its best camera phone with Note Flagship. Galaxy Note 6 is going to have 20 MP primary and 8 MP front camera with upgraded sensors. It is said that Samsung is developing a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor equipped with f/1.4 aperture lens of S7 as part of Galaxy Note 6.
Android 6.0 or Android 7.0
Perhaps there will be lots of people wondering what operating system Galaxy Note 6 will be having. As a matter of fact, the answer is Android 6.0 Marshmallow. If possible, Google will launch a new generation of Android system in this summer, which would be named Android N. Most importantly, from previous cases, Galaxy Note series is apt to be equipped with last generation system. Galaxy Note 6 would not possibly make a breakthrough to this rule. And it is still not officially confirmed yet.
Price
As having such a high performing mobile phone takes lots of effort, price, in fact, doesn’t matter a lot for this kind of device. Galaxy Note 6 would cost you a bit more as compared to recently launched Galaxy S7 and Note 5. The price of Note 6 would be around 750 to 800 USD.
With the passage of time, there will be more information about Galaxy Note 6, and we will offer you the latest information at once.
Specifications Samsung Galaxy Note 6
Over the past few weeks, a lot of rumors and speculation about the Note 6 have appeared on the net, and many of them are quite interesting and realistic. You are probably wondering: what technical specifications will the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 have? In this article, we have prepared for you the latest and most relevant rumors about this.
Summary:
Design: We have reason to believe that the appearance of the novelty will not differ much from the Galaxy Note 5. It will boast a waterproof case and a microSD card slot.
Galaxy Note 6 highlights: Snapdragon 823 processor with 6 GB of RAM.
Display: 5.8″ Quad HD Super AMOLED display.
Camera: We believe the Note 6 will borrow the 12-megapixel camera from the Galaxy S7.
Release date: May be released in July 2016, and should be released at almost the same time.
Design In terms of appearance, we have no word on whether Samsung is preparing a major design update for the device. On the contrary, we expect the Galaxy Note 6 to be very similar to its predecessor, but with slightly improved ergonomics and performance. Given the fact that the South Korean manufacturer made the Galaxy S7 look like the Galaxy Note 5, in particular by rounding the back edges of the case, we believe that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be endowed with the same feature.
Samsung made the new Galaxy S7 completely waterproof without the use of caps on all ports of the device, and it is likely that the new phablet will also be protected from moisture.
There are also rumors that Note 6 will be equipped with an iris scanner to ensure more secure data on it. The corresponding module “IRIS CAM” was seen in the documents of the Indian site Zauba.

90 005 Processor Judging by the situation with the flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the next generation of Note line gadgets will appear in two options: with a Snapdragon processor and Samsung Exynos. Until then, Qualcomm may introduce an improved version of its current flagship chipset – Snapdragon 823. We already wrote about this earlier here.
Of course, there is no official data, but we can assume that the Snapdragon 823 will differ from the 820 model with a higher clock speed.
Another variant of the Galaxy Note 6 is likely to feature the Exynos 8890, the same processor as the S7. This is in line with last year’s scenario, as the Note 5 received the Exynos 7420 flagship processor of the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. Either way, we won’t be surprised if Seoul releases a new solution specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Note 6.
We believe that regardless of these characteristics, the phablet will be equipped with a liquid cooling system.
Memory in the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 There are many different rumors that claim that the Galaxy Note 6 will receive 6 GB of RAM. There are already smartphones with this amount of RAM, and Samsung also has similar technologies. Also, we have reason to believe that the device will be able to boast such a memory capacity. The possible Snapdragon 823 chipset is rumored to support up to 8GB of RAM. The current Snapdragon 820 is able to digest such a volume, so we expect the same from the new model. In addition, the characteristics of the Galaxy Note 6 memory, such as frequency and timings, will increase significantly.
As far as permanent storage for storing personal data, we’d be surprised if the Galaxy Note 6 doesn’t get microSD card support. The base phablet model should offer the user at least 32 GB.
Display The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is expected to hit stores with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Like the Galaxy S7, it will get the always-on screen feature. Of course, there is a possibility that next year the South Korean company will increase its diagonal to 5.8 inches, although this is unlikely.
Given the growing popularity of VR headsets, the Galaxy Note 6 may have a 4K screen with features that will provide the best possible experience.
Camera Galaxy S7 is already equipped with one of the best cameras on the smartphone market, which can provide the user with a beautiful picture in almost any conditions. We’re talking about a 12-megapixel f/1.7 lens with advanced Dual Pixel technology that delivers instant autofocus. That’s why we wouldn’t be surprised if the Note 6 gets a sensor with similar specs.
S Pen With almost every new generation of Note series phablets, we see improvements in the S Pen. Although it is already a very powerful tool, there is always room for improvement. According to a recent patent application, the Galaxy Note 6 may come with a foldable S Pen that can be used as a kickstand. This, unfortunately, is all we know about him. Perhaps it will have some additional characteristics. It remains to wait for the official release of the gadget.
Release date So last year, Samsung surprised everyone by introducing the Galaxy Note 5 a few weeks ahead of schedule on August 13th. But what about his successor? Will it also be presented in August? No one can say for sure, although rumors say that the announcement of the Galaxy Note 6 will take place in July 2016 with Android N on board.
Conclusions
In this article we tried to tell you about the most likely characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6, but you should understand that we still need to wait for the official announcement from Samsung.
