“More than just robots.” Team 357 is dedicated to community outreach and charities. We are able to give back to our community and also further inspire and impact others in science and technology. Through these various efforts, we continue to “Dare Mighty Things”.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a local organization that aims to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer. In 2004, Team 357 joined “Team Alex” and has since raised over $5,000 for the foundation. We showcase FIRST at their annual lemonade kickoff days. In 2005, we participated in the Parkway Walk to help raise funds for pediatric cancer research at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

For four years, Team 357 has taught young students about FIRST and how they can get involved. At Cub World, an annual program run by the Philadelphia Area Boy Scouts, we are able to spread the message of FIRST to about 3,800 people, which had led to the formation of at least four new FLL teams.

Team 357 has taught a local group of girl scouts the fundamentals of FRC. While we mentored the Tin Mints, Team 4575, they worked side by side with us in our shop where thy were able to ask any questions a rookie team may have. This was beneficial for both groups; group brainstorming was a great way to stir ideas back and forth between teams, which resulted in two independent robots. Our help worked out great as the Tin Mints had an award-winning season, including an invitation to MAR Championships. This partnership as Team 4575 grows and continues to succeed.

Team 357 has selflessly shared our expertise and experiences with those interested in learning about FIRST. After taking Team 1394, Mastery Charter Robotics, the Juggernauts, under our wing and guiding their program’s growth, they graciously inducted us into their Hall of Fame in 2006. Additionally, we helped Marple Newton High School raise interest in robotics and FIRST, and also formed a partnership with their FLL team, the RoboWhizards.
Team 357 promotes FIRST through robot demonstrations at various local events. We go to district middle school seach year to showcase the applications of the math and science they learn in school. For the past three years we have been invited to demo our robot at Boeing's annual "Engineering Week." In recent years the team has demonstrated at the Garrettford Elementary School Fair and the Girl Scouts of America Convention where we represented FIRST at their booth.
From 2005-2008, we participated in and raised money for American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, an event that gives people a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
In 2007, we sold Mardi Gras beads to raise funds for Team 2221 from Fontainebleu High School in Mandeville, Louisiana, a team affected by Hurricane Katrina. When we arrived in New Orleans for the FRC Bayou Regional, we presented a check for $750 to the team.
