My platform allowed me to be an advocate for females in gaming and within the tech industry as a whole. I’m primarily a PC gamer and have been for over 8 years now and with no specific genre I enjoy, I have been able to play and love many titles from the past decade. I would label myself as a Nintendo Fanatic and also am extremely interested in VR and hoping to follow it closely in upcoming years.

When building your own PC configuration
the main attention is paid to the “iron”, on which the
computer performance, its speed and stability. Frame,
combining all these components does not affect the listed parameters, therefore
when buying it, people often prefer to save money, and some enthusiasts,
for fun or simply because of a lack of finances, and completely manages to do without
him. In this article, I will try to briefly explain what is the difference between
high-quality cases, and why you should not deprive attention when assembling a computer
this component.

It’s no secret that all cases are primarily
divided by form factor. In this case, these are the dimensions with the corresponding
standards under which components are manufactured. For example, for
full-size cases in Super-Tower, Full-Tower, Midi-Tower and
Mini-Tower uses ATX format components: video cards, mat. fees,
power supplies and coolers for the processor. But in some cases the same block
power supply may not fit the desired form factor, since the ATX format for the PSU
defines only the width and height of the component so that it can be
fasten, and the length is already at the discretion of the manufacturer. Because of this
high-power PSU models simply do not fit into the case along their length, and this
need to be taken into account.

Any system manager needs regular
maintenance: cleaning from dust and replacing thermal paste. This requires a complete
or partially disassemble the components for a more convenient and thorough
service. The case form factor is primarily needed to designate
matching dimensions for components, however, its dimensions and organization
spaces, as with power supplies, are specified by the manufacturer.

A more expensive housing means more
thoughtful structure and capacity, which means disassembling and assembling the system will
much easier. For example, when I dismantled the system unit in the Mini-Tower case
(I remind you that Super Tower, Full Tower and Mini-Tower are still the same full-sized
form factor for ATX / mATX format components, just these names
are used only in housings for a more convenient determination of dimensions), then
I had to do this with the utmost care, bending the wires and
disconnecting components in a clear sequence. The assembly was given
more difficult: the pins from the front panel of the case had to be connected to the mat. board with
using tweezers, because less than a centimeter remained to the wall of the case. All in all
it will be difficult to do this without proper skill.

Good ventilation of the entire body is a prerogative
models from the high price segment. Such blowing is provided by the building itself,
as well as fans that should be included. best solution
there will be a 3 + 1 format (3 fans on the front panel and 1 on the back). If speech
is about the form factor Mini-Tower, then 2 + 1.

The presence of fans on each of the slots – already
a good sign, but there are similar configurations in budget solutions.
The point here is their quality: the presence of a magnetic bearing (perfectly reduces noise
during operation) and lighting. Good air flow for long life
components, avoiding their overheating and throttling (in simple words:
power reduction to avoid thermal damage). Temperature margin
also required for overclocking a processor or video card.

Mandatory dust filter on
the inside of the front panel where the fans are located: so clean
the system unit from dust will be much less common. Ideally, the filter should be attached
on magnets “in touch” for its convenient and quick cleaning.

Recommendation : if you plan to build with
RGB backlight, then be sure to see that the same RGB fans go
on each of the slots. In some cases, the slot may remain empty. Then
you will either have to look for the same model, or put up with an unsynchronized
backlight, which does not look very organic (it’s not only about color, but also
blink mode). Sometimes it’s better to take a case without fans at all and buy it in addition
them separately.

The amount of noise from the computer too
partly depends on the quality of the case, or rather the assembly and materials from which
it is done. Thickened metal walls perfectly absorb vibrations. More
high-quality cases are often equipped with rubber plugs in places
the location of the connectors, which also reduces the noise level.

If you buy a case with a transparent wall, then
I strongly recommend to consider only tempered glass. No acrylic
or plastic – these materials at first glance may not differ much from
glass, but they get scratched and dirty literally from everything. Even paper
towel or toilet paper may leave small scratches and scuffs.
In general, such an interesting element, with its poor quality performance, through
time will, on the contrary, spoil the whole appearance, especially if the system unit is

is placed on the table.

A neatly assembled system unit is not
only an aesthetic appearance, but also a guarantee of safety: you can be sure
that nothing will chew anywhere, will not shorten and will not fray. Cable management –
the basis of this approach. For its organization, a good corps must have
enough space between the motherboard attachment point and the rear
wall of the body itself. This width, as a rule, should be at least 2
fingers. For example, in budget Mini-Tower cases, this place is often not available.
enough, so either the lid will not close, or you will have to remove part of the wires
inside the system.

frequently used buttons and connectors: on/off, reset, mini-Jack for
headphones and microphone, as well as USB. It is important that these elements are in
convenient location, and the number of connectors complied with the norms: 3 USB connectors and 2
mini jack. As for USB, at least one USB 3.0 is required.
(differs from the standard 2.0 in a characteristic blue color). This format
provides higher bandwidth and increases power. Will
especially useful if you have an external drive that supports the appropriate
USB 3.0 interface. The main thing do not forget that the motherboard must also
support this interface, but on more or less modern models this
there shouldn’t be a problem. In other cases, it is worth studying the characteristics
on the manufacturer’s website.

Although the housing does not directly affect
computer performance, but still determines the impact of external
factors on components in physical terms: the amount of dust, temperature,
noise level and security. Feelings of interaction with the PC (with
aesthetic and physical points of view) also depend to a large extent on
this element. The main thing is to choose a case after buying the rest
accessories.
