If you’re looking for a speaker to use at your next party, it’s important to have a speaker that can get loud enough to fill large, crowded spaces. Speakers designed for parties are often large and heavy since they tend to reproduce deeper and thumpier low-basses than smaller speakers. They also often come with RGB lights and inputs to connect external microphones and instruments to them. If you’re looking for the best Bluetooth speaker for outdoor parties, being battery-powered is a must, so you’re not limited by power outlets when placing it. It’s also good if it has an IP rating for water resistance to survive splashes and light rain.

We’ve tested over 110 speakers, and below are our recommendations for the best speakers we’ve tested to use at parties. See also our recommendations for the best Bluetooth speakers, the best Bluetooth speakers for bass, and the loudest Bluetooth speakers.

The best speaker for parties we’ve tested is the JBL PartyBox 310. It’s a great choice for your next big event, with many unique features designed to amp up the excitement as you rock out to your favorite tunes. Right out of the box, this speaker brings lots of thump and rumble in the bass, meaning you can rattle the dance floor with genres like EDM and hip-hop. Plus, it gets super loud, and its customizable RGB lights let you set the mood however you like. With a more than seventeen-hour battery life, you can keep dancing late into the night.

Like many JBL party speakers, this device has some added tools to bring excitement to your next celebration. Karaoke lovers can plug their microphones and guitars right into the speaker to jam out with their favorite tunes, and the JBL PartyBox app brings some additional effects to adjust the microphone’s performance for the best possible sound. You’ll also find many sound customization tools in the app, so you can switch up the speaker’s sound across the range using its graphic EQ or bump up the bass with the aptly-named Bass Boost tool. Overall, this is a really powerful speaker that’s lots of fun.

If you’re shopping for a party speaker on a tighter budget, the JBL PartyBox 110 might be for you. It’s a smaller and more affordable cousin to the JBL PartyBox 310, with many of the same fun features and tools to amp up the energy at your next big event. Again, you get access to the JBL PartyBox app, where you’ll find customization tools to switch up the colors and patterns for the RGB lights, as well as a graphic EQ and Bass Boost preset to change up its sound. Plus, the DJ and karaoke effects let you make the most of the included microphone and guitar inputs if you want to host a sing-a-long at your next party.

Given its smaller size, this speaker doesn’t get as loud as the PartyBox 310. It reproduces a little less low-bass, too, so you feel a touch less thump and rumble with bass-centric genres like EDM and hip-hop. That said, it’s a small difference overall, and this party speaker can easily fill larger and more open spaces. Perhaps the biggest difference between the two devices comes down to their portability—while the 110 is smaller, it doesn’t come with wheels or a telescopic handle for transport like the 310. Instead, you have to carry it with your hands. It’s not ideal for everyone, but depending on your preferences, you may still find that this speaker is a better value overall.

The ION Pathfinder 280 is worth a look if you’re shopping for a party speaker on a budget. It does a really good job for the price, with many of the same cool party features as the more premium speakers on the list. For example, the speaker has RGB lights that you can customize in different colors to set the mood at your next event, as well as a graphic EQ and several presets to customize its sound. There’s even a Boom preset designed to add lots of boom in the bass. And since it lasts over 68 hours off a single charge, you can host multiple events without worrying about a recharge.

With a max volume of over 100 decibels, this speaker gets loud, too. It also has a great sound quality, with a clear and accurate reproduction of voices and lead instruments in your favorite tracks. However, it doesn’t pack as much punch in the bass range as the JBL PartyBox 110 or the JBL PartyBox 310, which is especially noticeable with bass-heavy tracks like EDM and hip-hop. Still, this portable speaker performs well for its price, and if you can’t spend much on a speaker, it’s worth checking out.

The loudest speaker for parties that we’ve tested is the SOUNDBOKS (Gen. 3). With a max volume of 110 decibels, this powerful speaker packs a punch, making it a great choice for filling larger and more open spaces with your favorite tunes. It’s available through the manufacturer’s website now, and it comes with many cool features to make the most of your next event. For example, the two XLR ports let you connect an external microphone for your next karaoke session or a guitar to rock out with your friends. It’s not quite as portable as picks like the JBL PartyBox 310, but it’s not a big deal if you plan to stay in the same place.

This portable Bluetooth speaker boasts a battery life of over 43 hours, so you can rock out late into the night without interruption. The sound quality is impressive, too, so it’s suitable for listening to many different music genres. It offers a v-shaped sound, meaning that you get some extra rumble in the bass and a touch of brightness in the treble to make higher-pitched sounds sparkle. As a result, it’s especially suited to genres with lots of highs and lows, like EDM, hip-hop, modern rock, and pop. If you want a different sound, though, you’re in luck—there’s a graphic EQ available in the SOUNDBOKS app and some handy preset modes like BASS+.

The Ultimate Ears HYPERBOOM is another great option if you’re looking for a loud speaker at your next party, and thanks to its smaller size, it’s much more portable than the SOUNDBOKS (Gen. 3). It’s more lightweight, and there’s even a built-in carrying strap to help you take it from room-to-room, or to your friend’s house for their next event. Overall, the HYPERBOOM is a pretty sleek and stylish speaker that’s versatile enough to be used at home when the party’s over, and with a max volume of 98 decibels, it’s more than loud enough to fill your room with a deep and booming sound.

This speaker’s sound quality is also great, making it suitable for listening to many different types of audio content. Voices and lead instruments are clearly and accurately reproduced right out of the box, and there’s a touch of extra rumble in the bass for genres like EDM and hip-hop. Thanks to its graphic EQ, it’s also customizable, and some presets are even available in its companion app. You won’t find any inputs for guitars or microphones, and its 23-hour battery life is a little less than the SOUNDBOKS, but overall, the best portable party speaker is still a great choice for rocking out at your next event.

Love a deep and rumbling bass? Listen to lots of bass-heavy genres like EDM and hip-hop? In general, party speakers offer a solid bass reproduction, but the best Bluetooth party speaker for bass we’ve tested is the JBL PartyBox 710. This big and booming speaker has no trouble bringing the thump in the bass range, and with a low-frequency extension of 26. 7Hz, you’ll feel the floor shake along with bass-heavy tunes. Its Bass Boost feature lets you control the rumble in the mix, too, so you can set it to Deep or Punchy, depending on your mood.

Like the JBL PartyBox 310, this speaker have plenty of built-in party features, like microphone and guitar inputs, customizable RGB lights, and other DJ effects. The graphic EQ in the app lets you customize its sound to your liking, too. And, like any good party speaker, it gets loud, so you can blast all your favorite tunes as loud as you want. This speaker is big, so it’s not the most portable option on the list. There’s a built-in handle, but compared to the PartyBox 310, you can’t adjust its height. However, if you just want to crank up the bass in one place, it’s a solid pick.

              Notable Mentions

              • Sony SRS-XP700:
The Sony XP700 is a large party speaker with customizable RGB lights. It’s compatible with the Sony Music Center and the Fiestable apps, which lets you access extra party features and effects. That said, it doesn’t produce an as extended low-bass as the JBL PartyBox 310 and doesn’t get quite as loud.

              • JBL PartyBox On-The-Go:
The JBL PartyBox On-The-Go is a portable party speaker from JBL’s PartyBox lineup. It’s much smaller and more portable than the other speakers in the lineup, like the JBL PartyBox 110. It can get loud and is rated IPX4 for dust and water resistance. However, it lacks some low-bass, and there isn’t a graphic EQ or presets you can use to tweak its sound like you can with the PartyBox 110.

              • JBL Boombox 2:
The JBL Boombox 2 is a portable Bluetooth speaker that can get loud with a pretty balanced sound profile suitable for audio content. Unfortunately, while it gets about as loud as the Ultimate Ears HYPERBOOM, it has a lot more compression present at max volume that affects your audio quality when you max out the speaker’s volume.

Best Outdoor Party Speakers Buyer’s Guide

There are lots of things to consider when picking out a good party speaker, so we decided to narrow it down to the following 8 factors. After reading through our buyer’s guide, you’ll have a better idea of the kind of outdoor speaker you’ll need for everyday use, venues, and more.

              Durability

Durability is key since they’re going to be used outside. Make sure your speaker can at least handle exposure to sun and temperature changes. If they are also weatherproof or waterproof, that is a huge plus. You’ll be able to use your speaker in or near water (river, beach days, lake days, etc.)

              Power and Volume

Power and volume are important, look for a speaker with a high wattage rating so you can have a good sound projection for your backyard, venue, or party.

              Portability

Consider weight, you want a speaker that’s easy to carry (by one person) or at least a speaker that can be rolled around on wheels to make transportation easy.

              Connectivity Options

Make sure it’s versatile with connectivity. Bluetooth connectivity is popular, and truly the only kind of connectivity most shoppers are looking for. Streaming apps with Bluetooth connectivity is so convenient! However, some people prefer aux inputs or USB ports for a variety of devices like tablets and laptops.

              Battery Life

Make sure the battery life is long enough for your party or event. 6+ hours is good, but if you can get 10-24 hours of streaming on a full battery, that’s awesome.

              Sound Quality

Make sure the speaker has good audio — clear sound with a good bass response is ideal.

              Multiple Speaker Support

If you have a huge venue, consider a speaker that allows you to connect multiple units together for better coverage.

              Budget

Set a budget, and stick to it. Budget for at least $100 on an afordable speaker or $300-$500 on a high-end speaker.

Best Bluetooth Speakers – Party Sound in 2023

To listen to music at full volume by the pool or even organize outdoor karaoke without taking the lead, the portable party speaker is the perfect . We have selected the best Bluetooth speakers for you.

What is the best way to create an outdoor atmosphere without the hassle of complicated installation? Invest in a portable party speaker. The latter, also called Sono DJ, loudspeakers, High Power or even Party Box, support Bluetooth connection and also, in most cases, have a battery inside. Therefore they are immediately ready to use : all you have to do is place them in a strategic place, connect your smartphone to them and enjoy your music.

Most also offer audio inputs for connecting a microphone or musical instrument such as an electric guitar. Almost all of them are also capable of creating lighting effects worthy of a hookah bar. These speakers are designed for private parties: their functionality is based on practicality.

Although these speakers are relatively unknown, many manufacturers such as JBL, Sony or LG are actively pursuing this niche. So which party speaker should you choose to spice up your party, whether indoors or outdoors? Here’s our comparison of the best Sono DJ Bluetooth speakers.

              JBL PartyBox 310 – Reference

We’re not going to hide it, JBL is a bit of a king when it comes to party speakers with their special line called PartyBox . So much so that the word “PartyBox” is increasingly being used for the global name of a party space, thus becoming an antonomasia, that is, a term denoting a proper name that has become a household name (for example, scotch tape or a photocopier).

Our favorite is the JBL PartyBox 310. This is the reference party speaker, one of the most balanced in the PartyBox line. It develops a pleasant power of 240 watts. Note, however, that the speaker will only be able to reach this full output if it is connected to the mains.

              What we like :

              • Big power for a small size
              • Two microphone inputs
              • Easy to transport
              • Powerful and precise bass
              • Easy to use app
              • Long battery life

              What disappointed us :

              • Narrow soundstage
              • A little bulky when lifting and loading

9The 0002 JBL Partybox 310 has an excellent battery life of 18 hours, allowing you to party all night without worrying about being near an electrical outlet. This is true at 50% volume, with lighting effects and “bass boost” turned off. The sound quality is good, you don’t even have to turn up the volume. Bass is very present – even too much, to the detriment of high frequencies. However, this is a typical JBL sound signature.

Communication, as expected, is well established. There is an auxiliary mini-jack input, USB input, mini-jack input and output, for example, to connect a CD player. There are also two 6.35mm inputs that can be used to connect a microphone or guitar. If you’re planning on doing karaoke, you can control the microphone effects with the Treble and Echo knobs. By Bluetooth PartyBox 310 can be connected to two devices at the same time. A 12V port has also been added. If you have multiple PartyBoxes, they can be chained together.

JBL has taken care of the practicality of this speaker: it is splash-proof (IPX4), equipped with a retractable handle and wheels. Another advantage that few portable speakers can boast is the ability to mount high on a tripod. Finally, it is capable of creating a variety of lighting effects thanks to the LEDs adjustable via the JBL PartyBox app.

Even if it’s not cheap, we can only recommend this model, which combines everything you can expect from a party speaker.

JBL PartyBox 710 – big speaker for power

PartyBox 710 – a beautiful beast measuring almost a meter in an upright position. It is therefore ideal for hosting a big party at home in combination with another PartyBox, either by cable or wirelessly thanks to True Wireless Stereo (TWS) technology. It is capable of delivering 800 watts, with the latter powering two 21.6 cm speakers and two 7 cm tweeters. This allows you to sound large rooms without problems, as well as enjoy powerful bass.

              What we liked :

              • Big power
              • Graphic Equalizer
              • Mic and mic/guitar inputs
              • IPX4 splash-proof design
              • Customizable RGB lighting

              What disappointed us :

              • Compression present at maximum volume
              • Medium directivity and narrow soundstage
              • Equalizer missing and bulky

The PartyBox 710 is a good product, but it has a big weak point: it can’t run on battery. .. because it just doesn’t exist. This detail will turn off many, starting with those who want to use it for nomadic outdoor use.

For the light shows, JBL has gone all out with dynamic and adjustable strobe lights, and flashing and color patterns generated by the 8-shaped LEDs. Like all PartyBoxes, it’s IPX4 certified and can therefore take some knocks. Like the 310, the wheels and handle make it easier to move despite the 28kg weight.

This is a good choice if you don’t plan to take it with you everywhere but need power for large spaces.

              Sony SRS XP500 alternative

The Sony XP500 is a real competitor to JBL. It offers specs very close to the JBL PartyBox 110, which is the 310’s little sister. However, it’s cheaper, with equivalent performance.

              What We Liked :

              • Graphic Equalizer & Presets
              • Extended low bass
              • Great design
              • Build Quality
              • Good autonomy

              What disappointed us :

              • Big and heavy “body”
              • Poor directivity

The SRS XP500 has a more discreet design than the JBL, neat and typical of Sony, which will appeal to many. The play of light is realized through two strips of LEDs located at the level of two large carrying handles. They are more decorative than anything else and remain fairly inconspicuous.

Sony oddly chose not to release the watts of its XP series speakers. So it’s impossible to know how much power it can deliver, but in general we can compare it to the sound power of the JBL 110 which has 160W.

The manufacturer promises 20 hours of battery life, not to mention fast charging: 10 minutes of charging will last about 1 hour.

LG XBOOM ON9 – for powerful sound

LG has also created a range of special speakers. The latter is called XBOOM. and ON9obviously “blows up” the stage: 1800 watts, to be exact. Plus an impressive building with a height of more than a meter.

              What we like :

              • Ideal for large spaces
              • DJ functions
              • Good value for money

              What disappointed us :

In addition to impressive sound power, this model offers something different from other loudspeakers: DJ functions , which can be used with the knobs on the top or from the corresponding application.

The karaoke features are also very advanced: you can independently adjust the volume of the music and the microphone, or even reduce the level of the voices of a song thanks to the “Voice Canceller” function.

The backlight of this speaker also stands out in that it allows light to be projected onto the wall. However, we regret the organization of the top control panel, perhaps not very logical in terms of grip, in particular in terms of wheel placement.

On the connection side, there are USB ports, connectors, microports… as well as a CD player and Bluetooth multipoint. A real top for the big night.

LG XBOOM 360 RP4 – Stylish and affordable

The LG XBOOM 360 RP4 speaker is a little different. It will be less party oriented, in part because it lacks a microphone input and treble and echo controls. But, in addition to Bluetooth, it still offers a jack port and a USB port. I must say that its design is elaborated and quite original. LG built everything around the 360° principle. As a result, we get a device with a rounded body, which strongly resembles a kerosene lamp.

              What we like :

              • Powerful, room-filling sound
              • Big bass extension
              • Rugged and portable
              • Efficient remote control application
              • original design
              • Soft light atmosphere

              What disappointed us :

              • No stereo image
              • Not quite small

It is very easy to carry thanks to its small size (height 50 cm) and rounded top handle. It still handles sound the same way, and is able to properly sound your garden or your living room: it is equipped with a 13 cm mid-range and woofer and a 2.5 cm tweeter, powered by a 120 watt amplifier. In terms of ambience, LG has placed a kind of cone in the center that creates soft ambient lighting to match the music.

As far as autonomy is concerned, don’t expect miracles and you’ll have to settle for the 10 hours offered. The advantage of this model is that it can be used all year round every day: thanks to its beautiful and discreet appearance, it will not stand out in the middle of the living room.

Choosing the right Bluetooth party speaker

How can I use the PartyBox?

As the name suggests, the portable speaker is perfect for parties. But unlike the Hi-Fi speaker you have in your living room, this one can be placed anywhere.

So these large speakers can be used outdoors, for example if you are planning a small party in your garden. In this case, they can be connected. But they can also come in handy if you are organizing an event in a festive hall, and sometimes in a country house.

Finally, if you’re a karaoke fan, they can perfectly accompany your passionate songs thanks to the dedicated microphone inputs.

Lighting effects, karaoke, DJ functions… what are their features?

Light effects available on most party speakers. They are more or less diverse, present only on the front side or also on the sides … They can simply illuminate the space, blink, create certain patterns or even follow the rhythm of the sounding music.

Some models even have LEDs that emit light, for example, to create stroboscopic effects, just to turn your living room into a nightclub. They can usually be set very accurately using the app provided by the brand (JBL Partybox, Sony Music Center, LG XBOOM, etc.).

Larger speakers also offer DJ features for hobbyists.

How many watts do you need for a living room speaker?

The higher the number of watts, the higher the maximum load capacity of the speaker. Simply put, the number of watts determines the maximum achievable sound volume. The more sensitive a speaker is, as measured in decibels (dB), the less power it will need to produce high volume sound.

So how do you know how many watts you need for your home? Let’s say that in a closed room you need about 3 to 5 watts per square meter. Thus, a room of 30 square meters will require about 100 watts. On the street, the sound is scattered more strongly, here it is worth focusing on a level of 7 to 10 watts per square meter.

Let’s make some noise together: powerful wireless speakers for parties and picnics – Reviews and articles

Summer is in full swing: it’s time to meet friends, spend time outdoors and share new music! This is exactly what portable speakers were invented for, but not every model is suitable for a noisy party or picnic: whatever one may say, you need more volume, and more battery capacity. Our selection includes powerful wireless speakers that will definitely come in handy this season.

              JBL PartyBox On-The-Go

JBL definitely knows how to surprise: the brand offers portable solutions for every taste, the quality is traditionally on top, and the price remains at a completely reasonable level. All this fully applies to the powerful portable speaker PartyBox On-The-Go – no doubt, far from being the most affordable JBL speaker system, but at the same time offering maximum sound and modern features for its money. Interestingly, the column has a very telling name, reflecting, by and large, its whole essence: a device for parties on the go – indoors or outdoors. The developers of portable acoustics have provided a number of interesting features:

              • Large 133mm woofer and two 44mm tweeters
              • Frequency response 50 Hz to 20 kHz (-6 dB)
              • Even more powerful bass with the Bass Boost option
              • Wireless microphone for karaoke with a range of 10 meters is included!
              • Spectacular light show to the beat of the music
              • Up to 6 hours of listening time on a single battery charge

              Mackie FreePlay Live

In recent years, professional audio equipment has been increasingly purchased for home use, and Mackie has played a significant role in supporting this trend. The manufacturer’s proprietary line includes not only professional studio monitors and live speakers, but also portable solutions – for example, the absolutely wonderful FreePlay LIVE wireless speaker. Visually, in front of us is already quite “adult”, but still a portable speaker that you can take with you to a musical performance, a party and a country trip. Among the interesting features of the model:

              • Powerful 6″ woofer and dual tweeters for rich, full-range sound
              • Bluetooth for wireless audio transmission from mobile gadgets
              • Up to 15 hours of playback on a single battery charge

              • Rugged housing and metal grille to protect the speakers
              • Branded application for full control over the settings: volume level, reverb, equalizer and much more
              • The ability to form a stereo pair of two FreePlay LIVE speakers – for even more surround sound

              JBL Xtreme 3

JBL is one of the leaders in the popularization of portable acoustic systems: today these are almost the most popular solutions for those who want to listen to music away from an electrical outlet. But the larger and noisier the company that goes with you, the more powerful the speaker will be needed. Just for such cases, the manufacturer has a very interesting solution – Xtreme 3 portable acoustics. This wireless speaker is still easy to take with you on a trip or for a walk – thanks to its relatively small size and comfortable shoulder strap – and its power is already enough to dance outdoors. Among the interesting features of the model:

              • Four powerful speakers and two passive radiators
              • IP67 water and dust resistant
              • Wide frequency response from 53.5 Hz to 20 kHz
              • Surround sound and deep bass
              • Energy efficient Bluetooth 5.1
              • Up to 15 hours of listening time on a single battery charge

              Denon Commander Sport

Audiophiles around the world are well aware of Denon, an eminent audio manufacturer whose history dates back to 1910. However, not everyone knows that the company’s product range includes not only purely home electronics, but also something else interesting, for example, a powerful portable speaker system Commander Sport, which will surely appeal to musicians, karaoke lovers, as well as everyone who is looking for a wireless audio system with loud sound. Among the interesting features of the column:

              • Practical design and IPX4 water resistance
              • Large 8″ woofer and 3″ tweeter
              • Frequency response 20 Hz to 20 kHz
              • 120W power
              • Wireless microphone included

              • Mains power or built-in battery (up to 40 hours of battery life)
              • XLR/TRS combo jack, plus AUX in (3.5mm jack), out (6.3mm jack)
              • 2 USB ports for external drives

              Soundcast VG7

To place a powerful, good-sounding audio device in a compact case is a real art, and a vivid confirmation of this is a portable speaker under the VG7 index from the American company Soundcast. It is curious that this speaker system has something in common with the current Mac Pro: outwardly, it also evokes associations with a grater, albeit in a slightly different context. However, this design was chosen for a reason: in addition to the obvious advantages in the form of a wide sound dispersion, such a form factor is as ergonomic and comfortable as possible when traveling and outdoors. In addition, among the interesting features of the column:

              • Powerful 7″ woofer and four 3″ full-range drivers for 360° surround sound
              • Frequency response 55 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB)
              • 60W Class D Energy Efficient Amplifier (30W + 15W + 15W)
              • Up to 60 hours of playback on a single battery charge
              • Practical waterproof keys
              • Bluetooth and 3.5mm AUX stereo input
              • Full speaker performance even while charging

              Alto UberFX

Alto is a relatively young company founded at the beginning of the 2000s and has become famous for its interesting combination of affordable price and decent quality. The range of the brand includes equipment for professional musicians and everyone who somehow works with sound. There are also portable solutions in the brand’s proprietary line that are perfect for outdoor trips and organizing small music parties far from an electrical outlet. Among them is the Uber FX portable speaker, which deserves attention for several reasons at once:

              • Large 8″ woofer and 3″ tweeter
              • Frequency response 60 Hz to 20 kHz
              • 100W peak power
              • Built-in Bluetooth module for wireless connection of mobile gadgets
              • Two combo XLR/TRS inputs with independent volume, effects and EQ controls for connecting microphones and musical instruments
